Why do you want to change servers so much?

As in 90% of arguments, the problem is miscommunication. Your OP is 1 sentence and no one has any idea what your argument is. Are you trying to say that you want to be able to change servers for free BUT NOT because of WvW? As in, you want to visit one friend on IoJ, one on Jade Quarry and another on Stormbluff, and never play WvW.

If you never play WvW, sure, there is no reason for you not to but the point is that ANet would then need to figure out a way for you to not change servers simply to be on the winning side.

What about; Each character/account has a homeworld and you can change servers but that just becomes your current world. You can only ever WvW when you’re on your own homeworld.

When you put your idea like that, people ought to see your point and not mindlessly argue.

I have EU friends and guesting is not an option to visit them.

It’s one of those human things to do something with the path of least resistance and danger, especially when there is a reward at the end. I could make enemies never drop their aggro on players and force them to fight every single mob, but I don’t see that as a viable solution right now.
I think the better solution is to look at why people are skipping things, and approach from a different angle. Trash mobs have too much HP, and can’t be counted on for lucrative drops from a Risk/Time vs Reward, so people interested in making money (most groups) aren’t incentivized to do it, whereas the end chest/boss are more guaranteed and accountable returns on time and risk. I also think there is something to be said about interesting trash mob mechanics making them more enjoyable of a fight.
I can’t make the rewards from trash mobs so lucrative though that people just farm the first couple trash mobs/boss in a dungeon and then rinse/repeat. We encountered this when people just farmed the first boss in an instance and then restarted it (earlier around launch time), and we had to adjust the content as a result. It’s a fine line you have to walk to encourage players to get to the end, but make the process of getting there rewarding enough as well.

I don’t imagine this next update will resolve all the skipping behavior. The path of least resistance is engrained in people, and even if I do everything I could to incentivize people, there will still be those who skip stuff. I have been fixing exploits that will require players to complete more of the events in dungeons, but I am sure people will still skip what they can to get to their end goal.

For now I would encourage those not looking to skip to find some folks who don’t like skipping and make a guild with them… or maybe look for guilds that are dedicated to not skipping, and tag along with them. I’m in a couple of them (anonymously), and it really is an effective solution to playing the game the way you want to play it: Find other people with similar interests and band together with them.

People skip mobs because loot tables are garbage, why spend the time to kill a group of mobs when all they drop are porous bones or blobs of goo? I do AC a lot, and I mean a lot, champion/elite mobs aren’t worth killing because 9 times out of 10 they drop merch food items, once you can’t use at all, no blues, no greens, not even a yellow. I fought Kholer this morning, know what he gave me? No bag of wondrous goods, and a glob of goo. His chest gave me 1 tonic, 1 low level back piece that doesn’t even upgrade when I throw 4 of them into the forge, and a ring I can’t salvage or merch. I understand its luck of the draw, but the deck is a little wonky.

If you read his post he said that he can’t make loot too good. People will just farm the first batch of mobs over and over again which is also against the design of dungeons.

This is already in the game. It’s called rolling another toon.

And having a bunch of 80s roflstomping through lower end zones would ruin the game for the lower leveled players.

No it isn’t in the game. Thats called exploration. Re-exploration is when you get into a Asura portal and travel somewhere in the world.

Do you know that you get down-leveled when you travel to a lower level zone? Do you know that player complain about not having any motivation to go back to lower level zones after being level 80? Is endgame suppose to be pigeon-holing to dungeons and WvW?

I don’t see how a bunch of level 80 players ruin the game for lower level players. That is ridiculous. No one around to play with ruins the game for lower level players.

IMO, I disagree.

Each players should be allowed two home worlds. One from EU and one from NA. This way, players can transfer to other data-center and guest with friends from the other continent.

The endgame:

In the middle of LA, there is a faulty Asuran portal. You go through the portal and land somewhere around the world.

The objective is to explore and 100% complete that zone again. Except, you cannot use or unlock waypoints unless it is outside the zone. When you do that, you cannot go back and re-do your progress. Then you go back to the starting point(your progress won’t be lost)

It will be large guild + small party friendly.

A party of 5 players can do re-exploration by getting forming a party together and then go through the portal. A large guild requires a the commander get a commander title and that the players must join the squad to get in.

As a casual endgame, there is no requirements although if you are underleveled you may arrive in a over-leveled zone. You will not be up-scaled up to the zone level. It does, however, cater to the lone wolfs as well.

Optional objectives:

  • Finding lost Relics around the zone.
  • Do x amount of dynamic events + don’t fail the dynamic events
  • Do all the jumping puzzles in the area- Rewards will greatly increase during re-exploration, instead of worthless gems, you will are always guaranteed to have at least one rare weapon/armor, and it is also possible to gain a exotic. This is to encourage players to actually do jumping puzzles.

Doing all of these will exponentially increase the end-reward but it is not required to have it.

Rewards:

  • Money, Not worthless money, but money that rivals dungeons rewards.
  • Laurals, with the new currency, Re-exploration would be the greatest fit for laurel rewards.
  • Karma
  • Achievement points.

Other reason to have this:
This would a great replacement for raids when dealing with large PvE guild activities. This way, you can have infinity amount of players instead of having to limit to 10 man raids.

This is another way of getting level 80 characters back to lower level zones. The world is beautiful. Why push us to repetitive dungeons all the time?

@darkace: We have a third-party LFD tool that is so effective that I hardly see LFG spam on the chat. I see a few LFG spam but not as much when the third-party LFD tool was created. and IMO, daily achievements for city-based mini games would be annoying.

Almost everything in dungeons give conditions and usually to the point where you need to heal and remove a condition at the same time.

Trading post merchant vendors

*What are “Trading post merchant vendors”(TPMV)? *

They are NPC that sells certain items from the Black lion trading post. What you buy from this npc is what you buy on the trading post. The difference between this and pressing ‘o’ is that this system is not a centralized system.

These TPMV go around the world mainly to sell blue/green rarity weapons/armor relative to the zone’s level to the players. Instead of the player having to waypoint back to LA to pick up the items, they can buy it right there.

Players would stumble upon the TPMV, and buy better weapons/armor if they have the silver to buy it. After all, fast traveling back to LA to pick up new armor and weapons can be flow-breaking. I would rather buy the items right there.

Some can be simple crafting materials sellers or consumable sellers. For example, In front of a copper mine, there would be a vendor that sells copper ore. Restaurants would sell food or even feasts. See that Inn that sells feasts? Take your roleplaying friends in there and feast on a feast.

Lore

There are two main types of Trading post merchant vendors.

  • Black Lion
  • Consortium

The Consortium and the Black Lion are aggressively expanding business. To do so, they push merchandise out into the world to be sold to travelers and adventurers.

Reasons to have this

  • Roleplaying and immersion. This is necessary to make the game feel alive. Seeing vendors selling the same salvage kits, white weapons/armor items does not help to make the game feel alive.
  • Helps the economy. Players will buy items because they want it, not because they need it. If they need it enough to buy it from the Black Lion TP tab, then they don’t need to search all over the world for that TP merchant vendor. They just have to buy it from the Black Lion TP tab.

Might be a keybind issue. Arenanet’s default keybinds are terrible. I played the default keybind once and I understand how easy it is to die in this game.

Wrong, I was able to level all my characters from level 35-80 just by doing dungeon runs and I was able to join a group just fine. Even during times when people discriminate levels already.

So you mean you were at a lower level, you didn’t have full exotics or Twilight on your characters and they still let you in? Oh boy, what a shame if they were to, I dunno, exclude you for having a lowbie or non-max gear. Shame on them for assuming you were a noob based on your gear, shame on them!

Maybe it is because I joined parties where parties didn’t care about kicking non-level 80 players. If I am looking for level 80 only speedruns, I shouldn’t bring a level 45 character to waste everyone’s time.

If I am looking for a level 80 only speedruns, I deserve to know which party members is using MF gear or non-exotic gear that will slow down the runs.

Well, Master of Everything, that is your name right? How is it up there at the top when all us lowly noobs have nobody like you to help us leech, I am sure it must get pretty lonely up there being so skilled and all.

You are not the only elitist kitten in the game, it is already very prevalent. You say they are only kicked from your run, but they are also kicked by every kitten with a stick up his kitten because they are not wearing full Arah before joining you for a crappy AC run -_-

If you want to only ever run with experienced elitists then by all means join one of those guilds, add them to your list and only play with them, it solve both our problems, you will never have to pug and we will never have the displeasure of playing with you.

I disagree.

Orr looks perfect IMO. I love exploring Orr and I love re-exploring it too. The magnificent large ruins and amount of details to building this zone is incredible. The problem is that you’re not looking into it.

The other areas look plain and boring. Just put random shrubs, trees, grass, buildings and color it bright green. Then. you have a zone that somehow impresses the mindless mass.

Other zones needs more redesigning than Orr.

You mean that having 2 of the 3 assults in Malchor’s Leap go underwater resulting in all players going from the southern part works as intended? Or that it’s cool to have the final and most sirious area of the game smells like dead fish (by smell I mean “remind you off”)?
When I’ve heard of Orr for the firs time I was thinking of a bad kitten undead City, and instead it’s one of the most uncool/disgusting invaroments with nothing but ruins and Risen in it.

All other Zones fare much better than Orr. Some of them might have a few bugs or inconviniances, but at least they are all apealling to play at.

I don’t see anyone at Dredgehaunt cliffs, Blazeridge steppes, Fields of ruin, Gendarran fields, Kessex Peaks, Caledon Forest, Brisban Wildlands, Fireheart rise, etc etc does that mean the map is working as intended?

I guess Arah is uncool and disgusting when you aren’t exploring it.

Free EU to NA transfer

It will be a temporary fix until Anet finds a way to cross-guest NA/EU regions server. Basically, players gets to set two home-worlds. One in EU and one in NA, then they are only allowed to play WvW in both servers.

If NA players want to play with EU friends, they get a free transfer to the EU world and then guest to the EU server the friends are playing on(If that NA player is not playing on the same EU server). If the formerly NA player wants to go back to his NA server, he can transfer back for free.

The only way for a player on a NA server to transfer to another NA server is by being on the NA server. EU players cannot transfer to another NA server that they did not set as a home world.

I deserve to know if any of my party members are leeching or not.

See the funny thing about this is… Most people try to do the dungeons to get their First set of exotics, yet here you are trying to block them from doing that because you will not find what they have as acceptable. Its like going to school to learn a occupation, then once you got a degree you look for a job and everyone wants you to have 2 years experience. How the kitten do you get the experience if they will not hire you.

I know you don’t care if they are wearing all blues with all the right stats, its the guy wearing all the MF gear. Still I prefer to block the stupid before the stupid has a chance to convert to be a kitten instead.

Then let those undergeared players play with groups that don’t give a kitten about whatever gear they are using.

Basically, it is cheaper, faster and more advantageous to build a WP in a keep than actually building the keep’s wp.

It is very durable, and no one can contest a wp in a tower. Plus, the zerg would be forced to waste 24 silver on a 9 silver object,

At first, create two more zone designs. Balance it, imbalance it, whatever. The current borderland design is very dull because it looks the same.

Afterwards, create more zone designs in a steady pace. After every match, each borderland zone rotates and randomly chooses for each server. This way, whatever borderland you choose to fight in, it is fresh and new.

Zone environment suggestions:
-Volcanic environment like in Fireheart rises.
-A green-orange forest environment like in Plains of Ashford
-A Branded environment like in Blazeridge or in the Brand.
-A jungle environment like in Magumma jungles.
-A ruin environment like in Orr.
-A urban environment like in Divinity Reach.
-A arctic environment like in Frostgorge.
-A swamp environment like in Wcyhmere swamps.
-A futuristic environment like Crucible of Eternity

Eternal Battleground could have more environment as well. I would like the Fissure of Woe map in Guild wars 1 be converted to a WvW map. Instead of Mist warriors fighting for Stonemist, they could be fighting for the Temple of War.

I support the nerf, but also don’t like it either.

I want some way for my warrior to go through the no man’s land and be able to kill other players with a sword instead of hiding in the back with the zerg or dying before I can make a significant mark.

Minions are only utilities skills/summon allies. Just like Banners are to Warriors, Thieves guild to Thieves, Elementals are to Elementalists, Spirit weapons are to Guardians, Turrets are to Engineers.

Minions are not a profession mechanic like Rangers are to pets and Illusions are to Mesmers.

However, minions could use better AI.

Then you could ask for a buff for flamethrower or pistol #2 instead. Those skills are rapid fire.

Mini-guns and laser techs are going to be poor aesthetics to the game.
