ugh support, again….as if i wasnt already forced to be a veil/tw/nulfield bot, now those warriors will demand me to bring that stupid mantra to support their hammerwarrior train.i thought this game had no helaer/tank/dps separation, but anet seems to want us to be weak supports that hit as hard as a butterfly. awesome….
i dont like healer classes and support only. not my style and never ever will be! i dont mind using a few support utilities, but i would like to tag and deal dmg to a zerg aswell. darn spvp is screwing everything up!

U may be right. But if so anet has a very messed up and clouded view

very much clouded. they think they can use 1 balance for spvp and wvw and that already proofs that their mind is very very clouded. they see wvw as a roaming game where those builds might work, but in a zvz it is completely different. look at the patch nots for october: they are buffing warriors shouts o.0. as if the warriors werent already the most played class in wvw. and they give esmers new support buffs.o.0 u kidding right? as if this wasnt already the role we hate sooooo much and are forced to use in wvw zvz fights. im tired of kitten support!!!!!

so if u want the balance to change, u gotta go o the spvp forums as the balance team only cares about 1v1 spvp balance!

Stop bringing a WvWvW/non-SPVP thread into the SPVP forums.

1) Maybe because it was the worst class in the game a few months ago?

2) You mean by buffing shouts, one of our unused builds? That won’t help the scary warriors most cry about.

Warriors counter is Blind/Poison/Burst damage, things many classes have.

3) They are adding more weapons to all classes soon, also since you can only have 2 weapons for most professions equipped why does it even matter?

actually im glad to se warriors represented in spvp. they were terrible in spvp as their main attacks were way too predictable and there was no way to lock another class down. so yeah in spvp i hope the dont nerf the warrior to the ground as some buffs were needed to even bring them into spvp.
thats way i hope they will separate spvp balance and wvw balance again.otherwise u will see every wvw player on these forums here asking for nerfs and balance chances. warriors in wvw=beast godmode, in spvp=finally respected!

yup they have been overbuffed imho.they are beasts in wvw atm because of that. it sometimes takes 5 people to kill 1.the heals are too much, the cc is too much and the thing is they dont need to give up everything to do decent dmg. the got toughness,healing, big dps, mass cc, mobilty,vitality all at once. a lot of classes have to give up at least 2 of those.
all i see atm in wvw is warriors everywhere, then necros, then guardians, then eles, then thieves…..and then after a while i see a few engis, then i see 1-3 mesmers in a 50man zerg and 1 ranger a day.

hahaha yup. it was kinda hillarious. we were 1thief, 1 mesmer (confusion spec) and an engineer chasing a warrior on top of smc around. he had full guard leech aswell so more hp thatand power than u would get without it. he kept ccing us and killed the thief as he was semi glasscannon. so we had to call 2 morepeople to hel with him. as a mesmer that is v spec i dont have blink equiped and he was able to outrun us all the time.
and dont forget that u will see a ton of wvw players come here as anet only balances wvw around spvp only. warriors were in a good place in wvw before the buffs. now they are out of control.
go check wvw out or 1 day in a mid to high tier. all u will see is warriors and a ton of necros. mesmers in zergs are mainly support veilbots. we get no buffs because we are doing pretty ok in spvp.
i do well with my blackwater mesmer in spvp. but in wvw im stuck as a support because of anet not splitting the game modes.

yup happens quite often. have to equip my mh sword instead of my scepter before i head to smc fights, cause scepter wont work at all. u cant heal, u cand use most of your utilities/ u cant clean conditions(unless passive) and nobody is able to kill eachother for a long time as they cant use their skills at all.

The WvW community know ANet poured the majority of their resources into SPvP. Every “State of the Game” had only SPvP people on there to dictate how all classes should be. “Why don’t you ask to appear on up coming State of the Game?” No WvW players will make it on simply because they pick and choose who they will allow on. Judging by the Pax experience, where they dodged all questions, aka red herring, related to WvW, it would still be pointless if a brave WvW soul made it on. Speaking of Pax, their stream had even less viewers than AGG’s, RG’s, and BT’s (was a big guild but majority quit) streams. Their videos have even more viewers also. If the people who wanted to SPvP in an eSport sense, they would go DOTA or LoL because they structure there is better and more fun.

I watched the Pax stream and it was so boring. People avoided each other the majority of the time to capture points to win. What happened to player vs. player? I thought pvp was about one person/team trying to beat the crap out of another through combat/skills.

We all agree that PvE population is much bigger than WvW or SPvP. The question here is, how did it get that big? I can guarantee at least 40% of the current PvE population came from WvW. They all left the WvW scene due to lack of developments and balance. Big scale fight was what drew players from all sort of game to GW2 because it was the only game that offered it. That was WvW. If people wanted to SPvP they would go LoL or DOTA, I know I would. If they wanted PvE they would go play Hello Kitty Online (hehe).

The whole point of the OP was stop catering to SPvP because that’s not where the majority of your active players are. We also don’t want our classes’ traits and skills in WvW or PvE to be dictated by what the SPvP minority wants. There are three game modes to this game so it’s very ignorant and ridiculous to have a single structure.

well said. i agree 100 percent with u. im tired of not getting buffs for my wvw mesmer, because it does well in spvp. now im stuck as a veilbot or a roamer.

anet make a balance patch for wvw only. have wvw players(guildleaders/or commanders that play different classes be on the stream and talk about balance). look at this terrible meta!

that is not true at all. i can destroy thieves, if they attack me i am already a step ahead with my scepter 2 block and give the little thief 5 stacks of torment! i do complain about permastealth though as 1 thief can easily troll an entire group in a keep. thief players have to stop assuming everyone that hates stealth in this game, are bad players. if u wer a good player u wouldnt rely on stealth only. best thieves i fought wee the ones not permainvis.

That’s not our fault.

WvW balance influences sPvP the same way, and since they’re totally different games, with totally different strategies, builds and stats, it makes no sense to cry about WvW here in the sPvP forums.

Regarding the topic, stealth has no counterplay and that is true, but still stealth thieves are weak, VERY weak, and the only good build thieves have ( giving how strong condies, war, rangers, and all the stuff in the meta is) is S/D thief, which doesn’t rely on stealth for a reason.

A thief in stealth cannot contest a point, this is vital in sPvP. Maybe cruuk build is able to beat anyone, but takes too much time in doing so, and points slowly tick.

A permastealth thief at far is easily counterable by any class capable to 1vs1 him without losing too fast ( longbow-hammer warrior is a good example, spirit ranger another good one) and you just need to rearrange your team accordingly ( just send your home defender at far and leave your 1vs1 against the thief when the point is yours so he won’t be able to decap it).

I don’t see why people complain about stealth in sPvP: altough not having any counterplay, it’s weak and never EVER gave any problem at the top if not for stealth ambushes ( where THE WHOLE TEAM was stealthed).

Giving counters to stealth will just make D/P thieves weaker than they actually are and send all people to acrobatic thieves.

actually wvw doesnt affect u guys. anet balances only around spvp. thats why warriors are out of control in wvw atm.

permastea;th is pretty annoying, but they usually all follow the same pattern. they see u, they stealth, they go behind u and hope to land a backstab or another strong openes, thats why mesmers wanna try scepter, as nr 2 is a block that inflicts 5 stacks of torment on the target that hits them while blocking.

in spvp i seem to have less problems with thieves as i have in wvw.in wvw they can almost 3 shot u.

but u are right stealth dosent help much in spvp as they cannot contest a cap point while in stealth. plus the best thieves i fought in spvp are the ones that dont rely on stealth only.

Though if ya bring 7 friends it’ll get exciting

yup they are very predictable. i managed to get 12 stacks on torment on one today and he kept kiting me XD.
they only really hurt when u get surprised by them. their initial burst is a little high though. i got some toughness, so i dont die right away after 3 hits and can defend myself quite well(usually i kill them with reflects/confusion/torment), but i see a lot of people getting downed by that lately.

With the upcoming changes to some mantras...

if it was me i’d delete all mantras and mantra related traits and give mesmers something for better mobility and aoe damage. i do not care or want to see mantras on mesmers. mesmers are supposed to confuse people so give them something like so instead of crappy mantras.

Mantra of concentration is the best stun breaker we have for group WvW and restorative mantras is quite nice for support.

They can be better, for example I wouldn’t mind if mantra of pain was an AoE and if the charge cast was shortened to 2s…

sorry but i would go with decoy or blink over that crappy mantra of concentration any day of the year in ALL situations, zerg or not.

yup decoy as stunbreaker is a life saver. makes u invis and breaks stuns.awesomenesss.

RE: the current Perplexity argument

  1. An icd is an option.
  2. Lowering the applied stacks from 6/6 is also an option.
  3. For that matter, transforming the confusion-on-interrupt to extra confusion damage is an option.

Honestly, I’d vote for either the second or third options. At least the second allows for AoE usage. Failing that, the third simply makes the Runes strengthen pre-existing Confusion usage. Either way, the +Confusion Duration needs patched, for sure.

the duration in 6/6 is too long that is true. i’d vote for 3 as increasing confusion dmg and not triggering 5 stacks per interrupt, would be good as it strengthens existing builds. so engis can still use them as they already are a confusion class next to mesmers.

Ppl defending these runes are hilarious

Ppl who can’t be bothered to l2p are hilarious

as an ex glamour mesmer i gotta say that these runes are too powerful. our glam was never able to stack this fast, this high and this long lasting. we needed 8-10 mesmers to get up to a lot of confusion dmg like that.
the problem is that it gives 5 stacks for 15 sec per interrupts. when i was glam i would sometimes see 25 stacks ticking, but they never lasted longer than 1-3 seconds

I didn’t know interrupts were immune to dodging.

wow, seriously. that is all u got to say to that? so u a re blind to acknowledge, that these runes are unbalanced. ok…we!
so out of your 7 interrupts i dodge 2 of them=5 left=25 stacks
by the time my dodge is ready again u have 2 mre interrupts. so yeah dodging all that is sooo easy. even if i manage to evade a few stacks, your class was able to stack confusion even without those runes..
i know not to spam my attacks with my mes, so no need to l2p as during glamtimes i was able to survive many many glambombs with no problem. little hint try to confuse a dolyak that is walking towards a keep(oh thats right 0 confusion ticks), but u have other attacks u can use next to the 25 confusion stacks. rune 6/6 needs a nerf.

only because u found something op to play with, doesent make u more skilled then another player, so no need to lecture people to dodge.

I didn’t bother to read all that, it’s hot as fk here. You need to realise that every single dam time people whine and cry about something, there eventually is a counter. BS thieves, shatter mesmers, bunker eles and guardians, HB warriors… they all have a counter, but in the beginning people just whined and cried on the forums all day long. If you think this rune is any different you should just go play another game.

first of all i havent been crying heavily, second these runes are stronger than any rune in the game without a icd. thats all i wanted to say. i have no problem with confusion as my autoattacks are slow anyways. soe get over yourself already

I understand your frustration, it’s hard to deal with these things when you can’t be bothered to adapt to a new build. My eyes are full of tear as i’m writing this.

That’s what I thought when I started playing shatter mesmer, BS thief and bunker guardian and ele as well. get the hell over it , somebody will come up with a counter soon.

Ppl who can’t be bothered to l2p are hilarious

as an ex glamour mesmer i gotta say that these runes are too powerful. our glam was never able to stack this fast, this high and this long lasting. we needed 8-10 mesmers to get up to a lot of confusion dmg like that.
the problem is that it gives 5 stacks for 15 sec per interrupts. when i was glam i would sometimes see 25 stacks ticking, but they never lasted longer than 1-3 seconds

Ok. NObody good ever complained about stealth. ONly noname kittenters.

that is not true at all. i can destroy thieves, if they attack me i am already a step ahead with my scepter 2 block and give the little thief 5 stacks of torment! i do complain about permastealth though as 1 thief can easily troll an entire group in a keep. thief players have to stop assuming everyone that hates stealth in this game, are bad players. if u wer a good player u wouldnt rely on stealth only. best thieves i fought wee the ones not permainvis.

actually the best thieves i meet in wvw are the ones that dont rely on stealth. they use stealth to evade, but dont hide in perma stealth. i think anet didnt intend thieves to permastealth, but thieves to have the easiest access to it. its supposed to be a good evade and great ability to support thief builds, but i doubt it was intended to be a build.

when we all were in smc last week, i had to use my mainhand sword as i couldnt use my scepter or staff at all. u cant heal u cant attack. its like 100 people just standing there and hoping for 1 skill to work.

i faced jq and bg last week and yes the skilllag is terrible. now back in t2 we still have skillag,but not as much as last week.it definitely has gotten worst tough over the past 2 weeks

the problem with mantras is that they can get interrupted quite to easily and in the current spam meta, they are not really viable yet. also the traitlines for mantras are pretty random.

the focus on spvp, destroys wvw atm. warior trains in a vz situation are terrible. u think u have more builds? nope u need toughness and armor and aoe abilities. im forced to be support with veil/tw/nullfield/portal as i lack everything else. rangers are so rare i can count like 5 in wvw a day(and i play like 6-8 hours in wvw and face a ton of zergs of 30+) all u see is warriors and necros atm. anet please focus on zvz for the next balance patch and not spvp.

the balance problem forces u to join the zerg as if u dont run warrior or necro it is hard to survive with a small group. small coordinated groups that arent warrior trains should be able to make a difference in wvw.

Hmm, I understand your frustration with WvW, but I don’t think the PvP devs are to blame.

well they are as the balance team only balances around spvp and those balance patches affect wvw aswell as they dont separate the gamemodes. if they would focus on a zvz fight and balance around that just once. mesmers and rangers would maybe get the well deserved buffs in wvw.
in spvp i dont feel like i need much as i feel much more viable as i have more build options on my mes than in wvw. in wvw im forced into support, ugh!

erm…i dont have balls at all ….im female…but id like to say jon ty for posting the patchnotes early and ty for working hard.
allthough i would like u to try to focus on zvz for next balancing patch as balance in wvw is terrible. my class is stuck as a duelist and unable to get well deserved buff in wvw, due to spvp 1v1 focus. i am forced to either reroll or be a servant for necro/warrior/guardians as a support class only (veil/tw/portal/nullfield) i lack aoe as all of it comes from cloes that die before they even get the shatter to work, phantasms die too quick, if i try more dps, i lack everything from armor to toughness(warriors are tough, have health, have a high dps, have too much heal).
wvw has become a nightmare for me due to the balance issues. i dont wanna be support only. i wanna be a threat again like all the dominant classes are atm. u destroyed my glamour build and didnt give us anything back for zvz. u even nerfed clone health, nerfed phantasms, nefed bb, nerfed confusion to the ground and all we get is a aoe condition cleanser on a mantra? mantras are terrible! unless they get a zvz makeover they are not worth it at all.
i know mesmers are good in spvp, but it is the least played class in the game. doesent tell u that something?
in wvw we are bottom next to rangers that i barely see. come to t2 and see the fight for yourself. check out the zvz part of wvw, not the roaming part! see for yourself the monster called warrior u have created. this is not fun anymore for me and i really love this game. but the imbalance in wvw pushes me away.

im using blackwater mesmer with undead runes and rabid amulet with carrion jewel and gotta say it works great for me. i destroyed a guardian and a warrior at the same time with it.give it a try.

know the feeling. it sucks when your class is not viable apart from a few utilities. im not ready to give up just yet though. anet needs to look at group wvw balance in order to see all the issues. they need to get away from their spvp balance.mesmers are much better off in spvp then in a zerg.
im tired of op warriors, unbeatable guardians, op necro mark spam and also the balance issue forces us to erg as small groups cant make a change anymore. during glam times 10 coordinated mesmers had at least a small chance vs an uncoorinated big group. now u just get c’ed to death and your 2sec stability from mantras arent helping at all.
darn i wish our class would suck in 1v1 so we could at lest get some buffs for wvw groupfights. if anet allows mass cc, mass retal, massheals, mass condi spam, then mesmers should get their glam back and bb unnerfed.

You need to tone down the damage overall , or buff the defense to light armor classes a bit, conditions are way over the limit at the moment specially with the new runes like confusion stacking to all the enemies around in 3 seconds 25 stacks ( Engi), need more remove all condition skills and less heals.

Thieves been able to almost 2hit a person in a small zerg and disappearing to heal and cure all conditions and keep doing it over and over until he actually misclicks something or gets 15 people aeoing all over the place, almost the same with mesmers.

Warriors are impossible to catch if they decide to escape and they heal way too much.

PvE is too easy , needs to be little bit more challenging.

WvW needs a huge balance in classes, cant determinate the balance just by judging spvp.

this very much. i hope the devs make the next balance around wvw and not spvp as certain classes are stuck with being weak ans squishy in wvw due to spvp balance. thieves/mesmers/rangers need a makeover in wvw.
warriors/necros need to be toned down.
eles dragon tooth and aoe on walls has to be toned down a little, but they could use some love in other areas.
the cc spam has to be toned down,
perplexity 6/6 has to be burned or the interrupt part either replaced with additional confusion dmg or a big icd added
rangers and mesmers need wvw zvz abilities as being support or not useful is not fun at all(im not talking about roaming)
necromarks are too much spammable for how strong they are, also necros should not be able to attack u with no los on walls.
guard leeching causes issues
bloodlust could be a disaster
some siege masteries are too much giant zerg can drain all supply from a keep with trebmastery
acs should not be able to hit u due to zoomhacks

etc….

we need the balance team to please focus on a zv sitiation for the next balance patch. i know mesmers are good in roaming and spvp, but have a hard time to get out of they supportrole in zvz. we lack aoe dmg and our traitlines need a makeover.

Tonight things are worst that they have EVER been

SOR+JQ+BG is unplayable in EB. Anywhere on the map skills are not firing. This is not acceptable anymore

On the plus side TC isn’t dealing with nearly the same amount of lag that we did last week

I agree the root problem is a serious problem and needed to be solved quite a while ago.

yeah i’ve noticed in or matchup that the skilllag has gotten worse.i used to never have that in t2. are they maybe trying out a new system?

not worth the supply or the effort after 30 sec they can restealth and they got enough evades to stay alive for that time

if you cant kill them in 30 secs while they cant stealth you have serious issues.

i kill thieves with torment a lot as i run tormenting runes, but with 30 secs it happened quite a few times that the thief just out ran me in those 30 secs and on my mesmer i dont hae blink eqyipped as i have more of a v build than a roaming build. i dont think they are unkillable, but they sure are a pain to kill.

The good thing is now there won’t be only guardians offering AoE stability but also engineers. This might be a great change to handle these hammer trains.

yeah, but warriors wil get buffed more with their shouts, so people probably wont swich their class to engi which is still poorly represented in wvw(which is weird as if played properly they are quite powerful)

what about calming your kittens before the patch is live?

its hard to stay calm after u got instailled,while stunnelocked to death by a massive hammerwarrior train in wvw and on top of it got chainfeared by necros wth mass condition bombs..yeah imcalm, apart from the fact that there is only 3-4 classes in wvw atm.
this is what u se in a zerg atm lets say u face a 40 man zerg: 17 warriors, 6 necros, 10 guardians, 4 eles, 1 mesmer, 2 thief, 0 rangers

that’s funny comming from mesmer as clones actually still attack thief even after stealth
not sure if it is bug or intended

also, if the thief sits in stealth he is not attacking you, the moment he attacks you you can actually use your clones etc.

depending what kind of thief it is, you can actually easily predict their moves as well: sr, black powder leave marks on the floor, cnd thief would need to be behind you to actually do dmg so as long as you don’t sit still and actually spin around and kite you would be fine

oh and since it is wvw, you can use NPC to abuse your spells same as thieves do it for CnD

i find fighting troll mesmers is actually more annoying that thieves

not really true as tonly the clone attack that was cast before u went invis will hit u the phantasms and clones are all on standby while u are invis. yes certain thiefes are predictable, but also it is a guessing game. if u are hit by a skilled thief, its game over for u.
well thank god i always carry scepter on me and it helps me to block a backstab.

use aoes and attacks, even in stealth they still take dmg…full dmg

what if u dont have aoe or the aoe u got is all target related and btw most of the mesmer weapons require a target, also clones and phantasms. if u are a necro, no problem

oh yes you are right about warriors dominating the melee trains of course. they will get even stronger with the buffs to shout healing, but they are countered with stability which most random zergs dont run sadly, maybe there should be additional measures for random zergs against those.

but i was only considering small scale / 1v1 balance where those runes are absolutely crazy, you simply can only fold over and die except if you stack all condi cleanse available and try to leg it.

well as a mesmer i have a 2 sec stability on a useless mantra atm…nothing else. and yes stability is important.thats what guardians are for and all coordinated guilds i know run that, but that is a boon and necros can turn boons into conditions….oi

but these runes are terrible on a 1v1. engis and warriors can spam interrupts and these confusion stacks are higher and last longer than what a mesmer that actualy specs into confusion ever had. this is a slap in the face for a mesmer and gambreaking, but anet has not even responded yet. they need a fix soon. switch the 6/6 to 15 percent confusion duration and 15 confusion dmg and it would sorta make more sense or give it a 15-20 sec cooldown

if you think warriors are out of control (just 1 build actually – skull crack/100b with cavalier gear) you havent fought a confusion engi yet. necros out of control? wut? did i miss something?

well u havent met warriortrains mass cc and mass necromarks spam then.no way of even getting into a keep like that. chain fears, conditionbombs and the mass hammer trains atm are completely out of control. roaming is different but in big zerg fights all u see is warriors,warriors and even more warriors, then guardians and necros. ive met those engis and yes they are pretty much op with this rune and the rune has to be fixed.

I don’t spvp because of the imbalance. if we were allowed more variety of builds, like we can in wvw, i would def do it.

actually with my mes i feel i have wayyyy more options in spvp then in wvw. in wvw im forced to either roam or be a kitten support veilbot. the balance around a 1v1 based gamemode hurts the mesmers and rangers badly as most of our mechanics are only dueling based and not viable in a zerg fight.spvp is ruining the fun foe me!

Thieves have it worse off than mes/ranger in this regard imo…

yep thieves are indeed forced to be gankers and killing dolys. at least u still see them in wvw.rangers are dissapearing. i think this wvw balance has to change quickly.
mesmers are only part of ergs due to veil/portal/tw and nullfield and thieves have to pick on stragelers, but it is dominated by warriors and necros atm….ugh this is boring
