Glass ele and Glass mes are both high risk high reward, that frankly get shut down really easily.
Condi builds in this current meta have no risk and high reward (I’d even be willin to argue condi mes falls into that category almost) the problem is with the risk reward factors. Dagger thief pre nerf IMO was never rally broken other than they can burst 100-0 at leasure with no risk during set up. Which risk during set up and easily avoidable burst is the general case with Mesmer and Ele.
The previous meta and standings of mes and ele were not OP in anyway unless you A – didn’t know how to react to them. Or B – they caught you with your pants down with all your C/Ds popped.
this very much.any class that goes full glass,can do massive dmg and neither ele nor mesmer are the top dmg dealers.
as a mesmer our main dmg comes from phantasms and shatters while thief for example has amazing dps with autoattacks. i never felt eles or mesmers were op in spvp and i do not play a phantasm build. i play reflect/condi mesmer. the hardest classes to beat were thieves and guardians and then engi. now in this meta it is stunlock warriors and necros,followed by thief and guardian.
i know the op tries to prevent those to classes to get a well deserved buff, but honestly the builds u are soo scared of, are not the ones that need a buff. phantasm builds are fine as they are, but as a mesmer i would love to see other builds made viable like mantras,condition, interrupt or punishing builds like reflection. build diversity is not that great for eles or mesmers atm. most of us are forced to use those shatter and phantasm builds if we wanna keep up with the current spam meta. if they buff other aspects of mesmers, believe me u will see way less phantasm/shatter mesmers. same with ele bunker.
and btw i wouldnt mind giving up our stupid moa elite ;-)
The advice I always hear for fighting S/D thieves is to damage them and work the fight over to their last port position (if you remember where it was). This actually puts pressure on them as they rely on that port as a free get-out-jail-free card (b/c every thief needs those!). Besides that, there is another option:

also there is an issue when someone blocks u simply to be able to send a few harassing messages and u wont be able to respond. had a guy that transferred to an other server and started sending me messages left and right. so i had to block him too. pretty much everyone on our server has to block him now as he starts doing this to others aswell.
had issues with people i’ve blocked before as they were able to see my guildchat and mapchat.if someone blockes u u should not be able to see anything.no commander dorito, no mapchat! and also ikittenblock someone u should not be able to whisper blocked person.
agree with both pyro and armageddon.gw2 mesmers are not gw1 mesmers at all.there are similarities,but its a complete different gameplay. u also gotta see that the mesmer in gw1 had a lot of make overs and so will our gw2 mesmer. but like i said, if mantras get a make over and are getting hex-like traits, i would give it a shot, but there will never be real hexes in gw2.
well if mantras were more like hexes,i’d spec into it right away.mantras have potential, just make them more like hexes and they are actually viable.
ascended should be available with badges and something u only get through wvw. maybe tokens or something that drop from tower caps and keep caps? not laurels, not gold and also not crafting. as wvw i would rather use the mystic forge to make them with mats that can only drop in wvw.
how about a certain amout of tower tokens, certain amount of badges, certain amount of keep tokens and an exotic version of the acended weapon u want.
seriously orange for my condi mesmer is terrible.purple beams with an orange glowing weapon…ugh…i think i might just craft celestials for the skin and then craft one with the stats i want. will take longer. plus having colors giving away your spec in wvw is not the best thing….

yeah its just as broken as chain stuns, perma stealth, permaa evade. the other day in wvw there were 2 guardians in the water and 6 people simply couldnt kill them. or dead pets rezing rangers in water. yeah there are a lot of broken mechanics out there, but im sure they will get fixed. balance changes will come soon and when it hits, there will be a lot of qq
agreed.the current meta is terrible for me as a mesmer, but i still get to have fun.my guild has a lot of mesmers and we keep trying new things. i would love to see big changes for us. right now our autoattacks are very poor compared to other classes. yes, we have phantasms compensating, but if u are not a shatterer or phantasm build u are kinda left with a very low dps.
i play condition mesmer and it sometimes feels like im actually more trying to be a viabale condition mesmers, but the rng based skills make it hard to be a real condition spec.
also speccing into condition will leave u with very little dps.
i think what i would love to see in future is more punishing builds, like glam used to be.something like gw1 mesmers were. so a mindless 1111,2222,111111,222 spamming thief would literally kill himself, because he isnt careful.
i would love to move away from the whole duelist thing.i would like more group fight based skills.more aoe that are not relying on clones as clones die way too quick in a zerg.
also if someone wants to have a more supportive build, a few buffs in that direction would be nice.
well who knows, maybe they will put more effort into buffing our build diversity, by adding certain skills or giving mantras a whole new makover. i would love to see more options so we could see mesmers running dps(phantasm/shatter specs), condition mesmers( confusion/punishing/interrupt builds) and support mesmers(boonshare,/condition cleansing/reflecting builds)

if u would apply all the changes at the same time as op suggested that would be too much.
the problem here again is the thief trait line though. stealth give way too many buffs and gives the class a big advantage over others. they also cannot be targeted in stealth and with lots of weapons needing a target, that function is broken.
if im on my mesmer and using scepter/focus and staff my auto attacks wont hit tief in stealth ever,chaosstorm does, but long cd, my best counter is block. phantasms cannot be cast without target. mh sword is pretty much the only weapon that does work without target. if i manage to cast phantasm though before thief restealthes then yeah i might get to hit him.
if they are gonna change stealth for thieves, they would have to fix their entire traitline first. i could see anet though giving most of the classes a major make over though

It’s mesmers who should have access to better confusion, not engineers or warriors or whatever else. It even has butterflies. It’s mesmer condition, like anomaly and of the mists are mesmer weapons. We even have traits for confusion. How come engineers can stack it better without such traits? It’s simply insulting.
yeah it feels like a slap in the face.confusion was one of our signature moves.
warriors have stuns and high dps, thieves have stealth and mobility, necros have tons of conditions and also can deal with conditions very well, guardians are super tanky and have tons of boons, engis have access to a lot of different things…now the remaining 3 classes have no clear role anymore.
mesmers are supposed to be masters of illusions and confusions…..
clones die too fast in wvw,cofusion builds have been nerfed to the ground, engis can do a lot of things we can do, but faster and better, the rune of perplexity has longer lasting confusion than we ever had and gives it to classes that are already part of the meta. comon warriors are strong enough already with their mass ccs and thieves thieves have high dps, lots of stuns, ton of mobility…and now get confusion?!

To be honest, I don’t even mind that part. I mind when people talk about the Staff attacks as if they always cause all attacks at the same time (it’s the same with Chaos Storm, “Causing mass AE interrupts” – yeah, right). :P
well what they usually do is, open up wiki and go down the whole list of our abilities. but they ignore that most of them are traits and u cant have all traits at the same time, a lot of dumb rng based skills and utility skills which they think we all use at the same time.
that’s how statements like: What?u have problem with speed? well u have a speedbuff: Compounding Celerity…erm, requires an illusion=target…..
people look at wiki and think all of that is soo op, but never even tried he class.

I go to node and find a mesmer there. What i need to do?
a) Run to other node because i am supreme noob.
b) Fight the mesmer and dye faster than my eye can see.
c) I don’t leave my house alone, because i am a suport class.But ok.

i would love to have real night time. yes, it will affet wvw, but imo it would make it more realistic. it would maybe spice things a little up in wvw.
Perplexity is fine, if you change it you will break it. Kind of like you guys broke Omnomberry Pie.
Adding an internal cool-down of X seconds will make it useless vs aoe interrupts and give those classes who have them a huge disadvantage.
Adding: This can proc X times in X seconds for X seconds would make it 100x better, however hard to code.
I would like this to be done to ALL internal CDs.
they are already broken. no confusion spec was ever able to get 5 stacks for 10 seconds without food. this rune also stacks it 5interrupts=25 stacks for around 15 seconds and not for confusion classes but interrupt heavy classes.
honestly, the roles of classes are completely screwed up with stuff like this. how come that those classes that werent confusion classes can stack confusion way more viably than classes that actually fully specced into confusion?
and its also funny, that the same classes that whined about confusion before the nerf, are now defending this rune with the same arguments like, stop spamming and mindless spamming should be punished….
the rune is beyond broken. i highly doubt thieves and warriors were meant to be the new masters of confusion. warriors are great at cc, stuns while dealing great dmg and interrupts and thieves have stealth and mobility while dealing great dmg.
Personally, i would prefer the interrupt to be removed and replaced with Confusion damage buff:
6/6: 15% duration increase, 25% confusion damage increase
I think then the runes wouldnt be ruined, but they wouldnt be as overpowered as they are now.
25% damage bonus on confusion would just give an advantage to already confusion stacking classes like the engineer and memser
The good thing about this rune is it opens up new builds.
We’re talking about thieves running Condition Builds with Sword/Pistol for example
well honestly i think the runes were supposed to buff those builds imo. they nerfed mesmers bb trait so stacks wouldnt go up to 25 that easily anymore onless u were hit by multiple mesmers. they havent really thought that through when they released them. sure it wasnt intended to give a thief access to 25 stacks.

very true..if u are osicat. he is an amazing player. now being able to pull a fight like that is more for pros then the average player. but yes, i m not gonna give up on my mesmer. who knows what next major balance patch is gonna bring.

the other 99% of mesmers wanna run standar shatter, no condi clear, and instead of adapting their build, they rather just QQ on forums so they can continue to play the same build they been playing since beta…
actually i do run condition clear at all time. as a wvw player i am kinda used to bring it with me, but as i am not a shatterer i cant spec into the cleanse on shatter and have to use my utilities instead and they do have quite the cooldowns.
i’d say guardian.they are pretty strong in zergs atm.
necro: massive conditions, supports your team and chain fears people off cliffs.
thief:great for ganking or picking off straggelers
engi:do never unerestimate an engi..can be very tanky, great interrupts, and can deal some nice dmg
warrior:lots of cc,stuns, great dps and are great in zergs and definitely part of the meta
I’m still of the opinion that the 6 ability needs an ICD, of 5-10 seconds.
Just to keep the chain CC stacks from flying up.

Stack Wise its fine, its just some classes can chain together far to easily.
i think the cooldown is needed too as five stacks(for a warrior 9) is already a big buff, but shouldnt be stackable. after all those runes are supposed to be a buff for already existing confusion builds, but no be free access for interrupt builds. interrupts are already pretty strong as they are.
i dont think its reason for a ban, but i do not agree with u killing npcs which we sometimes need to repair or to access the bank or stuff like this, because that could cripple a server that has no upgrades and therefore no way to repair armor.those npcs should be invulnerable. but other than thakittens quite an accomplishment to make it in there and sure was funny.
Maybe if they give copies of all those unique utilities in the big patches that they’re planning, mesmers could get some buffs/reworks.
Right now having an ability like portal on 1 class is just stupid. Same for veil(no real AoE cap). Time warp is basically quickness for 5 people with no debuff for it. Moa is the ultimate CC since you can’t use any of your normal abilities, is not affected by stuns and you can’t use a stun breaker to get it off.
The class’s amazing utilities are holding it back.again portal is great and all, but if they were to give it to an other class, please not thief as it would break the game completely!

You want a REAL useless elite? Try ANY ele elite. I even use mistfire wolf instead of glyph of elementals because it deals damage and doesn’t get oneshot. Tornado’s damage is lower than 1 spam, the knockback is terrible(it NEEDS to be like guardian lines) and you lose your utilities, class mechanic and normal abilities. Fiery great sword is a “kill me” sign. The only thing you can actually do with it is run away. And it makes you stand still while casting it.
Also I agree on the thief thing. They might as well give us back consumables in WvW then. Including the stealth one and the jump gun. Guardians/engineers with portal would make sense(guardians let all people within 1200 range teleport to them? Sounds logical). Maaaybe elementalists since they really need a new elite.

I see no reason to change them, I have not even seen them used in game and my server is playing some fairly heavy hitters lately (not doing great but playing them) I am on dragonbrand.

Useless in WvW? Hardly, you just have to realize their role in the different situations.
1v1 or even 5v5, great at dueling.
GvG they provide veil, portal (for portal bombing) and focus skill 4. Things that are good for 5v5 and ZvZ as well.
Portals to not just get your guild or zerg past choke points and behind the enemy guild/zerg but also used for fast transport for golems and for sneaking your guild/zerg into flipped towers/keeps/castles, provided you can stay hidden.
Time warp for a more rapid entry through a gate.
It’s just not a lootbag farming profession like some others due to limited, damaging, AoE.
i dont feel useless, but i hate being put in a box and thats what u are doing by telling me that my role in gvg or zv z is veil and scepter 4 and massinvis and tw!we used to have damaging aoe with the glambuilds, now that that one is still not good i think we need a little less dueling and a little more aoe dmg.

The thief can keep up blind for the duration of a 1v1 fight, and the necromancer can maintain fear if used properly.

What about the sigil of earth being able to rack up bleeds insanely fast with traits and a crit build?
Perplexity requires predictive play, and if the opponent is not smart enough to learn how to control CC, then they should be punished.
If someone pops stability, then my approach is kind of broken. My magnet won’t work, my shield knock-back is nullified, etc., etc.
I think the rune is fair, and I’ve always liked confusion.

certain classes have very little stability and also u get cc’ed a lot in wvw and honestly during a bigger fight there is not much predicting. in spvp and small roaming maybe.but try as a mesmer to avoid cc of chain stunning warrior,engi or thief.

erm that happens if u have the culling setting set to lowest. if u have the low character models it always looks like the player is hitting u instead of the rezzing animations. i’ve noticed that in wvw when they changed the culling settings.

Try playing a warrior. Maye then you’ll see how hard not to rely on a handicap: 8 second teleports/stealth/access to immunity to anything at any time/ clones attacking while you are running or dodging/ 10 sec invulnerability for 2secs on a weapon skill.

They actually are, at least group play mesmers. I totally agree with you that mesmers are strong in duels and even in 5v5 but for world vs world they are close to useless.

High dps or not, Mesmers bring utility to ZvZs that no other class can come close to achieving. Portal and Viel can influence a battle unlike and other class in the game. They also have skills like Feedback, Chaos Storm, Timewarp. They’re far from useless on the support end of things.
chaos storm? its outcome is pretty unpredicable and rng based.i dont think mesmers are bad, but i would like to be able to be more than a utility slot in a zerg. the one thing i agree though is feedback, that comes in handy. when glamour was still viable those utility were actually not just there for support, but also dmg, just like necro atm(they get to deal tons of condition dmg while providing support for their team. that is sorta what im missing atm.

Useless in for farming PvE and an expensive, dog slow, stumbling, pin cushion in WvW.Necros are the new light amour, must have, Zerg accessory …. well….. till they Nerf that too.

I know a mesmer who’s very fast indeed. I believe it involves the staff and sceptre.

I hate to use the learn to play excuse… but wow… learn the class before posting stuff like this. Mesmer’s are ridiculously powerful and still the best utility class.
They duel well, they skirmish well and they can be really powerful in zerg setting including veils, portals, timewarps and pulls. Heck even Moa hits bunker guardians in their low HP pool rears. People have to spend 5 minutes clearing keeps and castles thanks to their utility.
like i said, dueling is not bad as a mesmer and yes portal comes in handy, but still we need more than that.ill gladly give up my veil and moa to get someting that helps me in zergfights.

Any commander worth his salt would want a mesmer over a warrior that CCs 5 ppl max out of the 30man zerg in the front every 9 seconds -if he isn’t blinded or destroye- any time of the day. Take a survey..
It’s funny coming across the weird little isolated reality mesmer players live in where they think they are entited to more and more even though they have the best and most unique skills that affect zergs or spvp.
If some of the tasks for a mesmer in WvW aren’t fun then play another class. Guess what, warriors don’t like being cc / condi removal bots and guardians get bored with being meat shields/boon batteries.
portal: 90 sec cooldown, good for golem portaling and hiding in keep to portal friends in
timewarp:240 cooldown i only use it to tw golems, but with that massive cd it doesnt last long enough
blink: helps in small fights, but zerg will still steamroll u as the range is quite short and cd again is pretty long.
mass invis: slightly better imo opinion as cd is only 180, but the stelth applied last only a little
nullfield: is one of the best ones to bring as it rips boons and cleanses conditions, but necro wells are a little better atm.
the thing is , yes these utilities are unique to the mesmer, but only being part of wvw due to utilities is not fun for me. when i run with my guild, we got a ton of mesmers with us, but we like to fight. we wanna be a serious threat aswell. having 5 hammerwarriors and an ele is far more effective atm, as the cc, waterfields and dps is stronger in the current zerg meta.
atm i only feel like playing wvw when my guild is on as i hate being asked to be the portal, veil and tw bot. other commanders even ask me to stay out of the fight so i can tw and mass invis them.i dont always wann be seen as support
i think since the glambuild was nerfed to the ground, mesmers lost alot of their viability in big fights. we are still pretty good in small fights and with my guild i still feel sorta strong,but apart from our utilities most of the other classes can do things we can do, but better.
with the broken rune of perplexity thieves and warriors are the better confusion appliers,warriors,thieves and engis have better interrupts, necros have way better conditions, we have very little access to aoe dmg, the guardian is better at boonsharing, thief is specialist in stealth.
so i think we simly need something back that makes us specialists in something that does dmg, not just support(and no phantasms die too quick in a zerg)
that being said, mesmers are still jack of all trades, but we need something that goes a little deeper than just ports, a little stelth, alittle reflect, a little retal, a little of this and that..it’s just a little messy atm, but maybe anet has to move mesmer a little away from being just a duelist…
wow he talks almost 30 min about the masteries, that honestly make defending objectives nearly impossible. all the masteries favor the zergs pretty much. and now we get a spvp like circle system.i’d rather have new buildings or maybe a temple or so than a circle cap thing.
if there is a 60man zerg out there u will have a hard time to cap those circles.

yeah i actually had someone insulting me during a whole match and it started with me joining…:’oh kitten, now we will lose, kitten mesmers ruin the whole game.
when i got downed: dont rez her she is only slowing us down!
and then they wanted to force me to use veil and portal. i mean who are they to kitten boss me around only because im a mesmer.i choose my utilities and there is no rule that mesmers have to be veil, illusion of life, portal and tw bots.
well people get a little too much in spvp. well in wvw some people get a little intense too though XD

No loot.
No Achievement Points.
No gear skins worth getting.
No chance of a Legendary.
No making of anything resembling anything close to what could be considered “decent coin”.
No new content.

not that i know off. i get barely any yellows out of it. the best thing was 1 ascended ring. everything else is mostly blues.and i am rank 181 atm. and loot in wvw has gotten back to blues and whites and a few greens….
insta death for every aoe ele due to retaliation……
yeah stealth stomping is annoying, but the whole class is annoying as it is a trollclass. whenever i see a permastealth backstabbing spammer, i picture a 13year old thinking about himself how great he is and laughing the whole time.
people are frustrated with that class. too much dps, too much stealth, too much mobility.
i dont mind the mobility, but the way stealth is implemented in gw2 is the most kittened thing i have ever seen in a mmo. u get boons, heals, condition cleansing and extra dmg from stealth. in any other game u either cant move that fast, can only use certain attacks, cannot stack stealth, cannot attack or cannot move at all or stealth is broken the moment u get hit or take dmg.
i think anet needs to give thieves more viable builds before they can change stealth though. dps and cooldowns also need to be looked at, but if they are supposed to be the most mobile class im fine with that.
