So the other day i had a run in with a commanders that tried for 1 hour or more to take a tower in the south while pulling all players down there.
the few online members form our guild and a a handful from other guilds stayed in the north where a smaller zerg was around supply camps.
i asked people to help lock down the north first before attacking the south. the commanders response was. oh well if u want people to listen go buy yourself a tag, chill u should have fun….2 min later 20 enemies tried to attack garrison watergate with 2 golems the commander didnt even move when i said inc as i was guarding watergate. 2 superrior arrowcarts and a mortar with 4 defenders saved garrison that is one of the important keeps. commander still fighting one tower ignoring whats happening around him and laughing at people without tag.

if i wanted to i could raise money for a tag, but i dont want to as i think only REAL commanders should have one. we have 2 amazing commanders in our guild.

My suggestion
a point system for commanders that changes their commander icon according to their achievements

if there was a point system for commanders that adds up every single time that commander caps, defends or kills , it would maybe change things. something that highlights that this commander is being active and successful. New players would not follow blindly some commander into their death.

i would love to see some stats almost like the achievement bars, like
1 how many vwsv kills
2 how many camps defended
3 how many keeps captured and defended
4 how many upgrades bought

stuff like that would make it easier for people to choose which commander to follow.

maybe even have an option to level commander according to achievements.

Commanders need fixing

I have played this game from the beginning and I think at first commanders were really useful to help gather people and teach different tactics.

Now, however I have been sitting back and just watching how things unfold and I would have to say more often then not commanders cause more harm then good. The problem is that 90% of the commanders are incompetent but think they are gods gift to the world. I personally wish they got rid of the tag all together, but that will never happen. But I would argue against giving commanders more power things because it would just cause more harm. Buying a book does not make you smart or tactical.

All that being said though I cant really blame commanders, the real problem is the players. Having no idea what your doing is forgivable especially if you are new, but not reading or following direction or even more so doing the exact opposite of what is being told is not. Chasing after people like a pack of dogs, etc. And, an even bigger problem is the system rewards this kind of play.

In order
Yanking off walls:
Mesmer/Guardian (mesmer slightly higher, lower CD)
Thief/Engineer (engineer slightly higher, longer range, also mortars)

What mesmer skill yanks people off walls?

greatsword NR.5 been pushed off cliffs myself and had some epic falls..LOL!

Thanx HabibLoew, for the update.
FireRunner: Let me add some more points to your list, to get that “godmode” off those crappy little thiefs for once and all:
1 – remove weapon slots from thiefes.
2 – reduce thiefs lifepool for AT LEAST 50%.
3 – why not remove stealth completely, as we are allready at it.

then, MAYBE, thiefs are somewhat balanced. Did I get you right?

wait wait, thieves still have traps and dagger storm. and don’t think think 50% is a bit off? Shouldn’t it be closer to 75%?

honestly removing all that would be too much i think.
i think thieves should be fast and have stealth, just not that long. u cannot remove EVERYTHING as long as i can hit them even when they are in stealth im fine with it or maybe also something to take’em out of stealth.

same with mesmers.
u cannot remove clones as this is what makes our spec. we are good at confusing the enemy, but mesmers die a lot too, but like with thieves there are some pople that abuse certain things in this class. Iprefer fighting fair and using my skills rather than always hide in stealth as a mesmer. btw our cooldowns except for the torch are very long and stealth is only like 5s for that.

yes mesmers are strong in pvp but in wvsw i think the only class that got me sooo frustrated is the thieves.

there was a group of 8 thieves running around messing and trolling us at our camps. we were 5. we walk in the camp no one there we cap the camp and then boom! all of the sudden they attack us out of nowhere.

as a mesmer im at least able to survive for a while. but they are able to revive each other all the time. we cant even prevent them from reviving, they are nearly dead then go into stealth come out fully revived, can attack us even in stealth, can now since the new update pull me off a kitten tower!, stay almost perma invisible and their attacks are way to strong,

My mesmer gets some ok damage but those thieves get me down form 20k health to 1 k in like 2 attacks. and then they even laugh at u after the slaughtered u.

Anet, i am sorry but u guys have to nerf thieves for wvsw plz. i gave up after 2 hours of humiliation and was happy to go to another map where i could fight real players that dont have to press 2 buttons to kill u, players that are actually really good and fun to fight.

Mesmer portal change, what was the point?

welll, as a mesmer i dont really understand the nerfs we go. the portal yes, should not allow more than 7 people, but such a long cooldown is not fixing anything. i know people were happy that they nerfed our phantasms and berserke to not glitch through the wall which i agree, but basically the berserkes wee kinda our aoe as we barely have any.
what i really dont understand though is, that they allow the thieves that are already way OP in wvsw to pull u off towers now. if u nerf the mesmer not to be able to send a berserker up there if u have no clear sight of view a thief should not be able to snatch u off a wall.
as for portal bombs..
1 watch mesmer runnning in
2 try to be on a superior arrowcart or regular works too
3 see the portal being put down
4 immediatly shoot at that port
Result sometimes 10 to 15 bags of loot and a ton of dead portal users lol!!

WvW is Losing it's "Fun"...

..and I’m not the only one thinking this. It’s become a complete zerg fest and is nowhere near what it was made out to be.

Scenario #1:

Group A of 5 players attacks a tower with a single ram. Group B with 25 players sees orange swords at tower and swiftly gets there. Group B wipes Group A with ease, where as Group A barely did 10% damage to the door.

Scenario #2:

Group C of 30 players quickly builds 3 catapults on the side of a tower aiming to the wall and start to attack. Group E of 5 players is trying to defend said tower and while heading there the tower already flips. Group C heads to supply camp before Group E even makes it to tower. If Group E attacks tower, see Scenario #1.

Those are common scenarios, but without the semi complexities of setting up a single Mesmer who does a portal drop 50yrd out, sets up group/self stealth, and then rushes into the middle of a group of siege defenders and pops the exit portal. All of a sudden you go from defending it with a few arrow carts and Ballistic (an easy tactic to stall the enemy, though not slaughter them), to a pointless defense that gets wiped in 30sec or less.

Anti-zerg mechanics such as AOE is not really AOE at all…because of a lock on 5 players. You can’t make people scatter when you hit only 5 of them out of the 30 there; it just doesn’t happen. Siege isn’t scary at all unless you have a bunch of it…but you have no time to set it up before the zerg rolls over the place.

Things need changes. Zergs need to …die.

may i just say…
1 person at garrison watergate
1 superiror arrow cart
zerg of 20 invaders plus 2 golems inc
1 more helper appears
1 mortar
….BOOM 10 lootbags on my feet
0 golems
6 of that zerg running away
problem solved!

if u are outnumbered stay on defense, protect what u have and dont go offense.

After complaining endlessly last week in the match up thread, that wasn’t enough. There is now a thread devoted entirely to whining from FA. I’m speechless.

ok only because one guy complains like that in a threat doesn’t mean we are all a bunch of whiners, stop labeling us like that we do enjoy fighting both of u guys. i like fighting yaks better than tc as they are not trolling when they get one person down and stuff. we had some pretty epic fights with yaks and that’s what makes wvsw fun. i think what makes people whine is the trolling when a group of thieves overruns u out of the blue nd then dances and sits over your dead body. The trolling is the one thing that makes me really dislike defending our camps. The double teaming …oh well i could care less as long as i keep having epic battles at keeps with skilled players from both sides, without trolling! I am looking forward to more epic fights like that!:-)

it’s not only the capping it’s also the fighting thieves. I am having a really hard time fighting a group of 8 thieves against maybe 5 of us. the keep getting invisible and then attack you out of the blue. it happened quite often that i walked into a seemingly empty camp and was surprised by 8 of them popping up. the weir thing is even if they attack they stay invisible some time which is not the case for a mesmer. the moment i attack my mass invisibility dissappears. i tjust think thieves are op in wvsw as they can stop u from capping and kill u very quickly. they heal way to fast too and u cannot attack them if they are invisible.its just frustrating after a while.

well i gotta say i had some fun nights with some tc members attacking our supply camps , mostly thieves. Today yb and us had a little fight near their spawn but i think we all were having fun we killed we got killed we had some duels and thats what i enjoy and think is fun. Later on i gotta say though members of PINK around 7 started trolling us with hiding in invisibility and stuff. I dont mind that as all that a thief can do is basically run, hide and backstab but you guys were very offending by laughing after 7 of u zerged 1…me. i mean k great u killed one of our guild but there is no need to dance sit on their bodies and keep feeling great when killing one. I kind of thought PINK is one of the more mature guilds and i like your tactics and it also used to be fun to encounter you, but your little camp thief group is a bunch of trolls and not fun to deal with at all.

Great match! Wasted like 2 hours trying to take Greenlake so we took Ab in 20 minutes instead!

well because some wannabe commander that must have gotten his tag at a secondhand store after threatening the sales clerk with a machine gun thought it was a good ides to take greenlake while tc mad a golem in one of the camps and attacked the watergate at garrison.thank god we have some people with common sense on

Both YB and TC may be a little sad when they wake up in the morning though

We saw the blue-ing of EB while bunkering down in YB BL against PRO’s continuous assaults on our homefront. FA’s 24 hour coverage is really immense, I would salute to this – though I am dang proud of our team on the BL holding down both keeps and exterminating the pests off our turf.

/hats off to the team in Greenbriar last night who was trying to build a golem army inside and left one poor soul to guard it. He probably didn’t know what hit him and his golems.

Yeah yesterday night sure was fun!We are a very well organized guild that also loves to have fun we dont mind brawling or even sitting with the enemy around a campfire! Good matchup so far im having a blast!

yeah they do have an effect on wvsw!And its nearly impossible now to put up siege at the wall as the rangers kill it immediately and the thieves snatch everyone off the wlls so ther is like no chance to defend a keep properly!just got snatched off the wall at the inner keep of smc and wasnt even close to the edge so that has to change otherwise wvsw becomes extremly unbalanced.

So I was at a cannon at one of our keeps where we built a waypoint i was in active mode on the cannon when i saw enemies approaching from the back. So i used my minimap to port back to the inner part of the keep to be quicker but i got stuck at the cannon.I was still able to shoot but my body was AT the waypoint so noeone was able to see me or hit me but i was able to shoot. I think i saw a few people using that trick too …that or 70 percent of wvsw is still invisible.

You reported someone for botting just because they didn’t move? What if they had a phone call or someone was at the door? Sometimes I get called to help with something at my work which is downstairs from my apartment and I have to run real quick. I would be very upset if someone would report me for botting only because I am afk for a few minutes. But I understand that this could be annoying in pvp. There must be a better solution for this. Maybe voting someone out or so, but that would be bad too as the better players will vote a beginner or weaker class out right away.

Placing limits on your own playtime

erm… honestly i don’t like a limitation on how long i get to play weekly. There are weeks where i barely have time to play and other where i play a lot but it’s my choice. I don’t need a parental control at all! If i want to play for 12 hours I will and if I feel tired ill go to bed. Honestly, a restriction on playtime would make me quit the game immediately.

Make Dynamic events more random and unpredictable

I used to play Rift for a while and the only thing I liked about it, was the random mass events that happened in each area with a crazy army of Monsters appearing and all attacking the cities. I was playing for hours and hoping for one to happen. Before it happened it would say something like there is smoke in the air and minutes later there was 30 rifts on the map spawning fire monsters. And every single time they were different and had strong bosses. In GW2 I would love to see more variety. Right now it feels like the world is stuck in a loop. The same monsters the same events and the cities always look the same!

WHAT I would LOVE to see:
How about u guys make areas change every day depending on what happened. Let’s say a Farm got destroyed by bandits.Let it stay destroyed until people help rebuilding it like u build siege in wvsw and only then the heart event reappears.(and please make it not too easy) Have different monsters attack, have the bandits attack other cities too after they destroyed the farm.
I think people would like to see the dynamic events more random and even unpredictable. As for me, I get a little tired of certain areas already.Why would i wanna go back and catch the same experiments all over again and again and again!If this is a breathing world, there should be also mass events where we not only have to kill a boss but protect all the cities like a real battle events. If a city gets destroyed dont have it respawn. If people cot healed from poison have them be well. If bandits poison the water, see how it affects the nearby cities. I think heart events should keep changing but i know it would affect the world map completion, maybe just keep some main ones. There will be less people camping for a certain boss to reappear after 3 hours again. They will be walking the world or go to a different area to help them in their battle. MAybe less bots too.
There also should be special rewards for that that u can only get because of a mass event. People are competitive and like to have unique gear and love to talk about their achievements.

I agree as Elementalists are extremely underpowered in pvp wvsw and die a lot.
Reason is:We DONT deal massive damage at all. it is very poor to be quite honest and the boon duration is way to long even if i switch between all elements constantly to get at least some spells out. how is it that a Ranger or a thief can kill me with 3 shots? Why are the elementals u can summon soo weak and don’t last at all. all the renewals dont work water is sooo weak that u can only heal and u have only 2 spells to do so? i love gw2 though and started a mesmer for now and gotta say i feel actually powerful! Please Anet i would love to play pvp i play wvsw all the time but die a lot while doing so.spvp is impossible for me right now but i will wait and see if anet fixes the weakes class with better trait options more vitality and faster spell casting and all that.
