As for the backstab comment, you would be surprised what stacking ontop of your clone will do, as a thief will target you in haste before his stealth runs out and if he has the clone targeted then avoided a 9k backstab which happens roughly 70% of the time.
Hmm. I usually target through “target nearest” then tabbing to real one while running to enemy for backstab. Though stacking mb good because of more shatter fodder when thief opens on you.
Btw how do you utilize furious interruption?
Ahhh you would be the 30% who would be able to hit me, people who target by clicking are the ones usually to mess up.
as for furious interruption, I mostly use it before I stomp to ensure a quick finish or if I have scepter out for a quick spam on the auto attacks or scepter #3 skill, applying torment and a clone who could also apply it… It is VERY situational that skill and requires the right timing.
(also forgive me for not knowing the skill abilities, my memory is not what it used to be)

4so typically great 1v1ing builds, sometimes even great 1v2, and always are good as a +1 to a fight. What sort of 1vX fights have you had success at actually killing people in?
(If it comes out messed up I had to snip a lot of the post)
There is so much nit picking I don’t know where to begin.
Please keep in mind I mentioned at the start that my build is not catered to everyones playstyle, I can see some points you made that make perfect sense on paper, but in the heat of practicality it’s a different scenario all together.
I rechecked your build and stats, you were kinda right about my stat difference I will admit, I had to change weapons to reevaluate it as one set is zerker and one set is rabid, but there is still a significant stat difference, you’re also missing 10% condi duration due to a sigil on the torch.
The build I have put together does well against a maximum of 4-5 enemies(I am a solo roamer and have always been a solo roamer) , most of the build is aimed at the mentality of enemy players who are used to certain rotations and skills from mesmers, so applying pressure a different way has earned me quite a few whispers along the lines of “what sorta build is that, how did you do that, where does your damage come from” and so on.
The full health heal may be bug, on paper you would be correct, but using it ingame at 10% health with 2 clones out has provided a full heal without fail everytime.
The only true counter to the build is a D/D thief smart enough to CnD off your clones, but thats where you started using shatters and a different rotation to what I have posted.
As for the backstab comment, you would be surprised what stacking ontop of your clone will do, as a thief will target you in haste before his stealth runs out and if he has the clone targeted then you avoided a 9k backstab which happens roughly 70% of the time.
Your input is appreciated, but like I stated before I have optimized this build for a playstyle not really used by most and my only intention is to share it in hopes of seeing more unique builds on the field to fight rather than typical META builds.
I am a greedy player when it comes to kills, even when I get zerged I will still fight and try my best to kill someone with me (refer to pic)

It also goes without saying that permbanned accs (hacking, etc) should have their names lost.
This is the only part of the post I agree on personally, as someone else stated, it wouldn’t be fair to people who had real life issues come up that foced them to take a break, eg: Cancer.
….. And Elementalist.
Seems to me that celestial is a bit of a waste in this build. I think it would be much better with a mix of stats, something like this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQNAR7flknhG1YZawNNwtGLpGk5Ne+LIHwFCQZFWe3A-TFiFABppbo3jAAAPAg9UCez+DMq+jSK/S4iAQKAwGWB-w
Just tossed that together really quick, could definitely be optimized better. Basically you’re wasting healing power because you don’t use it well at all. Additionally, hoelbrak runes aren’t a good choice, because you have no might generation that really benefits from them (might from imagined burden is such low duration that you may as well not even bother).
The healing power is what gives a full health heal, the hoelbrak runes helps maintain 10+ might stacks, if you bothered to look at the build before criticizing it you would have seen spiritial surge is the source of might and can easily attain 10 stacks minimum ontop of the -% condi duration which the build lacks outside of arcane thievery…
You said so yourself that you quickly slapped together your build with 0 optimization and you try comparing it with someone who has run the build optimizations since the release of celestial.
I can see strait away in your build that it lacks nearly 400 power, 25% decrease in critical damage, 150 decrease in armor, decreased health by 2500 and -10% applied condition duration for a total gain of 5% crit chance and 200 condition damage.
Now had you have looked at the build before you tried criticizing it, I would have been more open to your suggestions. (which by the way I wasn’t looking for, I posted this build due to frustrations of enemy mesmer roamers not presenting a challenging fight as the build can tank power builds while transferring condition builds back onto the caster, which we all know is 10+ torment, 10+ confusion and 20+ vuln with your own vuln applied maintains a 25% damage increase)
Thanks anyway.
….. And Elementalist.
(edited by sephiroth.4217)
Granted there were some changes to traits recently, I’m unable to post the build I have been using since celestial release, but this is the new tweaked build.
I personally would hate to fight this build while roaming as it has proven to be the perfect 1vX build to my playstyle, while it may not suit yours as much, I feel it’s still more efficient than the current perplex PU condition shatter spammer or power burst builds.
playstyle:
Start by channeling scepter 3, it has 5k direct damage + initiates a fight, after channeling throw up your scepter block and run towards the enemy, once a skill is blocked, dodge and torch 4 + 5.
Switch to great sword, use #5 to knockback the enemy into a position that favours you, they will expect your #4 so don’t use it strait away, try to use skill #3 followed up by #2 then skill #4 for the berserker.
Rinse + repeat.
DO NOT SHATTER UNLESS YOU ARE INTERRUPTING A SKILL OR NEED THE DISTORTION: The reason for this is thief aswell, while fighting a thief your clones will remain active, use that time to put your back to a clone rendering Backstabs nearly useless depending on thief skill level.
The build provides a lot of reflection via dodges and Manipulation skills, also provides full health heals and enough sustain to withstand a burst from any class.
Weapons: GS is zerker, scepter + torch are rabid.
The food is super important too.
Hope you guys enjoy!

I’m on the fence about HoT, it all depends on what WvW will be like when it’s released.
If I decide too, will there be hard copies to purchase from game stores such as EB games?
The reason I ask this is because buying things online through Guild Wars 2 from Australia, such as $50 worth of gems, actually costs about $70+ after the USD>AUD converts, if the game is going to be $50 in store, then I would much prefer to do that.
Bonus question: Can anyone explain to me why Guild Wars 2 makes us pay conversion rate on sales whereas League Of Legends doesn’t? I honestly have no clue on that one either.
….. And Elementalist.
hahahahahah
It is.
I personally don’t know anyone that only WvW, despite being in a WvW-guild.
People keep claiming that they only WvW, but extremely few actually do.
People might not do MUCH none-WvW stuff, but as soon as you start doing some PvE or PvP (if just only to get some money or do a guild mission or skin) you no longer ONLY play WvW.
It’s because the people who were WvW only, have been chased off with idiotic changes and complete ignorance from Anet towards the game mode, the few of us left that you’re seeing, are hoping the changes from HoT will fix many issues people are facing with the current state of things…
There are a LOT of WvW only players I know of. They log in, go to WvW and when they are done they log out. If spawning or waiting in Que in LA is considered as making us not 100% WvW players then you would be correct.

I think bag slot upgrades should be account bound and not soul bound…
Having 16+ toons, only one is equipped with max bag slots.
The problem with this idea tho is that Anet would need to refund a lot of people and would lose out on a lot more sales. So what would they do? Well lets see what they have done in the past. The best example would be what happened when they made the unlimited tools account bound, they increased the price by a fair bit.
I could imagine that they would increase the gem prices for one account bound bag slot easily up to 1k gems. Simply because there are people like you who have so many alts that this would benefit that they would take a huge loss from all those refunds they would need to do or from future possible sales.
Ok now we get to the problem of this, that is that there are people who play this game who have only ONE char and who will NEVER roll another one. All of a sudden the price of this item has risen a great deal for them simply because of people like you who have so many alts who asked for the values to be dropped and made account bound….
Really you do not have to have all those extra slots for every char, you don’t, really trust me you don’t. I have 9 chars with world complete and yes I did open all the slots on 8 of those chars but now that I have rolled my 9th char through and also doing my 10th now I see that I truly didn’t need them open.
I understand what you’re saying but I’m not asking for it, I just gave my opinion when I said the words “I think”… Also Anet wouldn’t refund anything lol, people would ask for it, but nothing would happen.
Personally I am happy using my permanent Merchant, bank, trading post and silver-fed salvage kit to get me through….
Actually I think they would refund because that’s how far their integrity goes. They did so when they made the change to unlimited tools (when people had multiples) and have done for other situations as well.
Lucky you with the perm merchant and bank I am yet to get those and I have had a lot of keys due to all my world completes on chars as well as key farming. Copper fed does me just fine.
Oh I never got a refund for my tools, I did how ever upgrade them for 200 gems which was cool…
And I bought my permanent contracts with cash through gem sales about 2 years ago lol, I worked out doing it that way was more efficient compared to buying bag slots and more bank tab upgrades…

I need some tips on fighting rampage, was currently in a match where 3 power engies were using rampage,
I was on point, the engies would come and just rampage people off point or get instakills, if they rolled tornado they would cancel it and move on somewhere else where they could 3v1 which is extremely boring for someone who enjoys the fights from PvP…
Any tips on how deal with it or is this the new faceroll meta I heard someone talking about in map chat?

Fully anticipating trying some massive aoe burn games with the dragonhunter and incoming zergs. Though going frontline reaper sounds REALLY fun.
I also want to give a zerg support revenant a try. Using shiro to attack gankers and ventari to support the melee train.
Chronomancer I think also has some really good possibilities in wvw. (double self portals) (double timewarps) (double veils or mass invisibilties).
As useless as it is, mesmer already has access to double utility skills via “Mimic”.

Celestial illusionist Mesmer
Power Shatter Mesmer with the right positioning.
I honestly don’t understand why people have so much trouble with fighting D/D eles… I know when I play meta builds or thief I have some issues but I don’t enjoy meta builds unless I’m working out a way to devise a build that counters it.

It kinda seems like you hate the game, y’know… if you despise pretty much every change that it’s gone through in the last year or two, then why are you even still playing?
I agree with OP, but my answer to your question is simple: Money and Investments.
I had a lot of issues with changes, from having double skins merged into 1 for wardrobe purposes to owning the same expensive dyes across all 8 characters (at the time) to the constant neglect towards the only game mode I enjoy, WvW. (which were all paid for in cash/gems)
Having played the game for 6-7 thousand hours and investing over $1000 into gems, it’s hard to walk away from that. Recent announcements about the expansion prices and further neglect towards WvW should make it easier for me to leave though and I look forward to that day where I can start investing my money on stable products where I know what I purchase with real money isn’t stripped from me without a refund.
It’s actually really insulting, you wouldn’t like to pay for a new PC and all it’s features only to have an update that renders most of what you paid for invalid.
Except they did offer a refund on town clothes.
When did I mention town clothes? Could you be so kind to make it in bold where I said that?
It was in the OP, and obviously a main complaint for the OP. It’s at least one instance in which real world money wasn’t stripped from people. I also remember them refunding double skins, btw, which you did mention.
Oh the OP said it…. Anyway.
Yes those refunds, I received one for owning multiple commander tags, was given some digital money after using real life money to pay….
My issue is mostly about skins, having put $100 into the game to make duel Infinite Light skins, and another $50 to craft a second Foe Fire essence….. I would continue but this is getting off topic for what I’m assuming is for argument sakes. (I don’t know how anyone can argue another persons personal experience, but people find a way somehow)
My point still stands in my first post: Money and Investments.
You paid with gems, you got gems back. In theory that means the next time you buy something you don’t have to pay real money.
To be clear, you did NOT buy an outfit from the gem store with real money. You bought it with gems. If you spent $1000 that means you’re buying gems anyway. You get gems back which means you save money the next time you want to buy.
So you want to argue this? ok.
I went to Timezone, I paid them cash for Timezone Card which would allow me to play their games, shortly after purchasing the card they turned off all the machines which means I can’t play any games, I take the card back to the retailer but he simply states “you bought the card with your money to play games, but we can’t allow you to play games, but atleast you get to keep the card until it is expired at the end of the day, you’re welcome to come back tomorrow to purchase another card after we have updated our systems.”
but again: My point still stands about not leaving the game, Money and Investments. feel free to pick apart another sub-text of what I have written though, for the sake of arguments and internet win points
Terrible analogy is terrible.
You bought gems with cash. That’s what you bought> You spent gems on an outfit. If the outfit changes you are absolutely entitled to your gems back.
The OP did list town clothes and those were refunded. You listed duplicate skins and those were refunded, in gems.
It does change the tone of what the OP is trying to indicate, even if you think I’m just trying to “score internet points”.
Still going buddy?
Lol
Why is it people who don’t have valid arguments always try to resort to making fun of people? If you have an actual reply I’d love to hear it. If you’re just trying to annoy me you’re likely wasting your time, though I’d point out that your response is off topic and doesn’t further the conversation.
Sure I’m still going. Because I think the arguments presented are flawed.
If you’re going to quote me, atleast quote all of it and not take it out of context.
Yawn…
5th time now: Money and Investments.

Why the hell is celestial gear still timegated? Why was it even timegated in the first place. For most classes it’s even worthless, but say you want to experiment with celestial gear, you just can’t because you first have to do something daily for 30 days. This has no place in the GW2 philosophy… Right now, i would love to do some experimentation with celestial guardian, just for the fun of it, idc if people say it’s bad. But i can’t cause there is still a timegate on one type of armor, for no reason at all. I get that you put time and effort into ascended gear, but exotics, of any type, should be just instant purchaseable.
I’m waiting to have fun here…
Celestial Guardian is very fun, with a bit of a learning curve and a whacky build, if you want to experiment with builds before investing yourself to them, try it out in PvP…. You don’t have to actually PvP if you don’t want too, there is NPCs around for you to try out your builds

My 200g was stripped from me due to the other person dealing with RMTs… What ever it is you’re doing, screen shot everything that’s involved with it. Also try not to get involved with people you do not know 100%, it could have indirect effects on your account like it did to mine.
The only positive that came from my experience, is that a friend gave me Sunrise for dirt cheap price, I only paid him 400g out of 1000g but we both agreed that if I were to continue paying him back then Anet would most likely take the gold off him.
Huzzuh for 400g legendary!

Ele is in a good place, it counters people and has counters… At the moment it’s crushing fotm classes (besides mesmer), but looks like necro boon conversion builds or celestial signant builds are starting to rise to new fotm, which easily beats an ele the moment they leave water.

sephiroth im making my statment based on your first comment and the reply comming to that and your first comment is something a long the lines of:
+1
Ascended drop rates are extremely low, and earning a ring can take a month… That’s 1 ring that will fill up 1/6 slots for 1 character on 1 build.
atleast if im not much mistaken and that statment is a general for the whole game as no game mode is mentioned and then saying that they drop a lot and it will max take 10 days of fractals clearly 10 days is a lot shorter then a month is simply showing your ignorance of that.
then trying to say that you only ment for wvw is just you trying to save face as your comment is clearly showing a general statment so if you want to make it from a wvw point of view then say so.
and im not upset about you think its a good ide that is up to you im just irritated you going agienst others when it is undeserved as they correct your mistakeand if you are after something the best way to get it is going to use the fastes rute atleast if it is needed for you to have fun and ant without it else the speed you gain anything is not important as it is just a game the importance is having fun.

And everything you said, is strait up wrong… I understand you joined our argument later in the conversation and didn’t bother to read all the posts, but like the other guy, you’re just pulling things out of a hat and/or manipulating words to your own advantage… You say I didn’t explain myself or say I was WvW player? Saying something is rare or hard to get in general,
versus
something is rare to hard to get via 1 game mode,
are 2 very different things. But keep going ahead and insulting other people. Fact of the matter remains, ascended rings are the easiest slot to come by in the game if you actually consider the entire game.
If you’re offended by +1 then you need help mate. I’ve also gave you your answers numerous time.
I won’t continue this stupidity with you guys, I support the OP idea, get over it.

There are many of us who agree with the OP but we want an honest discussion that Anet can take seriously. Game devs don’t take wildly inaccurate comments seriously so saying something completely false and exaggerated like you did at best does nothing, at worst backfires.

Blinds always made transfers miss…
Not a pro on necro or anything, but on mesmer running a manipulation build, getting blinded while using Arcane Thievery will always miss, go on CD and do absolutely nothing to help
No you are wrong. All necro transfers do transfer blinds. Just go into the mist test it on the guardian npc (or any other npc that blinds) and hit your plague signets/putrid marks etc.
However i think transfers can miss due blind if you have to many conditions on you and the blind wasnt choosen to be transfered but i never tested that so i could be wrong on this one.
How am I wrong? I was talking about Mesmer…. Last I checked, Mesmers don’t have Putrid Mark?
Then you go and say However i think transfers can miss due blind if you have to many conditions on you and the blind wasnt choosen to be transfered but i never tested that so i could be wrong on this one. which is what I said anyway, blinds make you miss. And you wanna say with definition that I am wrong even though you have no idea what you’re talking about?
lol.
No blind doesnt always make transfers miss. As i said test it on the the guardian npc. The blinds he puts on me are always transfered. My comment was only to your first sentence not the rest about mesmer.
It does always miss, stop telling me to try it on NPC’s when Clearly you have no kittenin clue what you’re talking about….
Arcane Thievery WILL miss if you’re blinded and has always missed….
As for the whole “my first sentence and not about mesmer” thing, my whole post was directed at mesmer when I clearly said “Not a pro on necro or anything, but on Mesmer”…

English is indeed not my first language so sorry if my wording was confusing but my comments were always meant to be about necromancer transfers (since the op was talking about necros). I hope this clears the misunderstanding.

@sephiroth there seems to be some confusion I believe this topic op stated he was concerned with Necro transfers not Mesmer transfer, although thank you for the info on arcane thievery.
Yer I mostly wanted to point out that if necro condition transfers aren’t working due to blind then welcome to the club

I don’t get these kind of comments. That’s like saying drop rates for iron ore are low while never mining in the appropriate areas.
Rings are one of the easiest slots to come by. They can get aquired by:
- simply waiting and buying them for laurels (this has nothing to do with drop rates and gives a baseline for how long it maximum takes) —-——— earning a ring can take a month / saving laurels is what I meant
- for 10 pristine fractal relics which take a maximum of 10 days and a minimum of 3 days if fractal dailies are taken advantage of —-—Im a WvW player for 3 years now, level 1 fractal is my level lol, people who know me know I hate anything PvE and sometimes it was guild joke to try and get me to at least the dark room of EB JP without me rage quitting or to even finish a dungeon run without me again, leaving for wvw instead.
- can drop with 25-35% chance at the end of fractals of level 40-50——— same answer as above
- gained via numerous low chance drops from chests from wvw —-——- Ascended drop rates are extremely low………
- etcHow does getting fractal rings take in any form a month if someone wants to gain a ring?
I did it the lazy way and put answers in bold in your quote thing, might help you understand…
TLDR version: I’m a WvW player.

D/D ele even stronger now, I like that. /s
Someone wiz in your cheerios this morning? So anything that does damage that is available to everyone potentially that gets nerfed is an indirect buff to D/D eles? This is why these forums are useless.
Ele don’t use fire+air on weapon sets, but thieves and other bursty classes do, and those extra damage procs is what helps bring down a cele ele… So yes, Indirect buff.
The thinking is a little outside the box but you can see some logic to it.

The point system is great tbh…
Don’t know about this top player being the worst player attitude though… I’ll try to explain.
Top player could have been the biggest asset to your team, why? Well you get points for everything, literally everything.
He could have rezzed people 5+ times tuning the tides for 5+ fights, he gets the rez points + defence + cap points ontop of skirmishing points all the while running around like a headless chicken decapping as much as they could or capping as much as they could… —-—— That would be considered, in my eyes, a very valuable ally…
BUT…….. That doesn’t mean he was the most useful person on your team, you could have a bunker sit on home all game defending 1v2 and holding point limiting enemy players to 3 for the rest of the map, he might only end up with a measly 20 points end game, but he also provided the team a lot more opportunities to secure the winbeing able to fight with greater numbers on point. (which you wanna hope your team mates can win 4v3)
I wouldn’t take “Hello team” as signification that the player is bad either, more often than not I will say positive or friendly things from the start to ensure the team remains friendly and pumped up for the game, sorta like League of Legends and positive attitudes will help players play better instead of doubting themselves and getting worse with every mistake… It is after all just a game
