They are not going to do it, so I don’t know why you keep trying to argue against yourself, which is essentially what you are doing. They have literally no reason to do anything you said because they can hide behind the excuse that everyone else does it and VAT or whatever.
More people doing release made the QQ and Mike Obrien even made a comment about it on reddit shortly after release.

Instead of having traps, have you guys consider bringing a mechanic similar to artifacts from AION.
These artifacts go off on a specific section of the maps and allows teams to capture and hold them for 15 minutes before firing them using a token you buy from the NPC.
So once you fire the artifacts you cannot use them for another 30 minutes unless the other team captures them. These artifacts can either give boons, do damage or apply conditions or debuffs like damage reduction etc.

Yesterday, after the patch I farmed 500 gauntlet chances. I ended up with 3-4 backpieces, 4 monocles and a chaos of lyssa recipe.
Either I should play the lottery or they increased the drop rate significantly.
As a result I sold my entire stock of Chaos of Lyssa recipes to guard against this. All in all I made about 500g from the returns.
tldr: sell everything while you can before it catches on.

I probably should do that too. I think I said too many offensive or negative thing about the game. And everytime I post, I’m afraid I’ll get an infraction.
And many times, I regret putting up post and end up deleting them.
You can say whatever you want about the game, you cant just direct your comments are someone specific in my case a developer or other posters.
Most of my infractions were for non-flattering generalizations, like “a person might know better, but you just know that the general population is too stupid not to fall for that scam.” For that, they said I was too aggressive to specific people. I really wish part of the website bugs forum was dedicated to infraction stories.
I remember telling someone not to be too proud about being a bully because bullies are known to spineless cowards and blah blah, i got slapped with an infraction.

The best tip for new players don’t read the PvP forum and if you do, take their opinions with a grain of salt. The sky is always falling here, sometime it is justified but most of the time it isn’t. Arenanet created these forums to contain players like those here.
The second best tips is to research your class forum for the meta build then go try your luck in hotjoin (play now button) until you get the hang of maps. After you get a hang of the maps then upgrade to teamQ, skip solo Queue it is terrible due to a couple of maps and it gives less rewards than teamQ. A lot of people solo queue in TeamQ, so, it is always better to do it.
tl;dr
Don’t read pvp forum, the sky is always falling and hyperbole rules. Hyperbole is considered a currency in these parts.
Read class forum for meta build of your class.
Head to hotjoin to get a hang of the maps.
After you feel comfortable with the maps (skyhammer and spirit watch sucks dont bother with them), move on up to teamQ. TeamQ has better rewards even if you lose and a lot of people just simply soloQ for it.

It seems ArenaNet has given up on sPvP altogether lately.
What’s going on?
PvE wasn’t updated either so what is your point? All the did was adjust the timers and fix WvW reward chest bug or did you see the long list of timer changes and bug fixes and decide to rush off to the forums?
Don’t expect any changes to PvP at least until july 1st.

I remember reading in the wiki a year or so ago that dueling would be added to the game at some point. Not sure if that meant open world duels or just custom arenas though.
whatever anet say before launch, you take the 50% and believe half of that.
dont make me remember you the manifiesto.
Another less cynical and realistic way to look at it was that manifesto met reality and reality won which lead to a change in priorities.
Obviously, if you are a PvP only player it doesn’t matter because the changes happened entirely as the result of PvE failing on its face.

You are not the first one to complain about it and you certainly wont be the last. That is how it has been for years. Arenanet isn’t going to change it because the exchange rate isn’t static; just a year ago canada had a higher exchange rate than the U.S, it doesn’t mean the U.S changed the current.

The problem is items with high demand and a very limited flow of new supply will always be priced so only the most wealthy in the game can afford it. Especially if supply is entirely not within the player’s control. T6 isn’t as much of a problem because if the price is sexy enough more players could go out and harvest those mats bolstering supply. Playing the mystic slots for a precursor is a rich mans game.
So the problem is not a growth in the overall money supply but the concentration of it among a few so if only the wealthy, say 10%, are the only ones who can fight for those items and what some are calling inflation are seeing a bidding war among the wealthy while the rest of us sit on the sidelines sighing at the price rise.
So what you are saying is, I should not worry when Balmer spends 2 billion on the clippers, because stuff like that only affects the really rich?
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
Well here’s the thing… ANET is losing a sale from me, not because I don’t want the item, but they take it away before I can buy it in the first place… If they insist on using a temporary model, they should have an option which allows players like me who’s laptops are in repair, to buy the gloves anyways.
Except they are not losing a sale from you. Unless you think Arenanet budget for your sales. Just because you don’t spend money, doesn’t mean it is a lost sale. Even if you don’t buy gems, you are still providing them income just not directly.
don’t make the same silly mistake ubisoft makes by assuming just because someone pirates a product means it is a lost sale.
FYI: Most games with cash shop only need 10-15% of their players to spend $$. Don’t put more importance yourself.

The game is fun, obviously fun is extremely subjective. The great thing about the era we live in, is that we have a huge variety of different MMORPG that might suit one’s taste. So if one game isn’t fun, you don’t have to instead spend all your time trolling the game’s website and instead go play that fun game.
I know, it is hard to move on from something you hate, especially when spending your time QQing about it would get you more thumbs up from internet people.

Guild wars 2 is not for everyone. They are 100s of mmo for different taste and interest.

Not as good, but I dunno.

who ever said i hate the game, you did but i never said that ever.
also, i am not trolling, i am stating a fact.
and who the hell cares about a thumbs up, if i state a fact, even something no one wants to hear, i just say it.
that’s what differs here, i care nothing about reputation.
i rather be hated among the truth the be loved within lies and delusions.
You are right what you said was fact, if you don’t actually know the difference between opinion and fact or if you are using a non-standard definition of fact, then what you said is a fact.
Some people like X others like Y, it doesn’t make Y better or lesser than X. They just have a different interest and not every interest is supported by X or Y, if it is, you are lucky. So no there is no truth, lies or delusion there is only either you like it or you don’t like it, don’t pretend like guild wars 2 represents anything more than a 60 dollar game, this is not a political debate with ramifications IT JUST a game. I would prefer something less random however.
Everybody would. But I think that is why crafting exist, to give your absolute control over what you want except the appearance. (this is what they said when they introduce crafting 3 years ago).

I feel you ARWEN. End game in GW2 is a joke compared to the plethora of activities available to you for end game in GW1. Not to mention we actually got a real tangible reward for completing each campaign story.
Guild wars 1 prophecies did not have more endgame that guild wars 2. Or are you comparing a game was essentially 3 games + 1 expansion with just one game? Guild wars 1 had more dungeons because each game was considered standalone and needed to have it own max level dungeon and even still then it did not have more endgame.
You might want to get off that nostalgia juice, it corrodes the brain.

@ Seraphina, it’s why I mentioned that if he thinks there’s no inflation, he’s probably a bad econimist. I didn’t mean to say he is one. I’m pretty sure he knows there’s inflation, (and thus isn’t a bad economist). But hi sentence (last post) is so double-edged, that it can range from ‘gw2 has no inflation’, to ‘gw2 has severe inflation but still a bit behind worst mmo’s. Hence my double-edged answer.
You might want learn to read slowly because JS never said they was no inflation. All he said was that inflation is NOT an issue in guild wars 2 relative to most MMORPG.
First off, there is a huge amount of demand for alpacas, they’re pretty awesome.
Short and sweet:
If you think inflation is a major issue in Guild Wars 2, you should do more research on MMO economies and general economics.
well people are not happy with price increase, I’m not sure if that’s called a problem.
But at the same time, the Anet economist probably are more worried about how much money they make next fiscal period. Unless inflation is actually hurting their profit, they dont’ consider it a problem.
So it depend how you look at it, from a player’s POV, or from their POV.
One of the things you should have known by now, MMORPG players are never really happy about anything. Give them something and they will still complain.
If one day Arenanet made getting everything easy like it was at release players will whine at how there is nothing to work on. If you make things take longer but not harder like ascended crafting, they will complain it takes too much work.
The point being players will never be happy about anything, the most important thing is doing what seems fair or makes sense for the context of the game.
JS has different things to worry about versus the players that are complaining. Players expect things to be handed to them at the same time expect things to not be handed to them.

While making crafting more rewarding certainly would be nice, it’s a mistake to think that crafting in GW2 is meant to be rewarding (though not one to think it should). Crafting in GW2 has the primary purpose of ensure a player can turn work, in the form of farming, gathering, et cetera, into usable gear. In the first month of the game, I spent about three weeks at level 80 and never saw an exotic drop. I didn’t even believe they could drop for a while. But it was okay, because I was able to get exotics through crafting, so I had a full set of exotic gear. Similarly, the only ascended drop I’ve had was a ring I may never use, but I have a full ascended armor set. Crafting is currently GW2’s way of making sure players have a way to obtain functional gear without relying on RNG, regardless of being the best or an attractive way.
This is exactly what they said when they introduced crafting about 3 years ago.
The purpose of crafting is not making profit, it is just making sure you always have access to top of the line gear.
The only obvious way to make gold is by selling crafted ascended components. Also crafting will never be profitable because a lot of players expect to have access to every recipe without any RNG, just look at how much players whine when they couldn’t get access to chaos of lyssa. It also doesn’t help that there is no competition with gathering nodes.
The point being if you go in to crafting expecting profit, don’t bother it wasn’t designed to be a money making scheme 3.5 years ago, it was only recently that they attempted to.

Power builds have Strength runes and…?
So much for build diversity. They made the changes to runes because the wanted to see people use a variety of runes. Really screwed that one up.
I hate to tell you but:
1. They will always be that IT rune or sigil.
2. Runes are a part of build diversity NOT ALL OF IT. I mean, who knew.
3. Runes of strength at least for the ele, have allowed new builds that were no possible before the patch. So build diveristy has increased in some classes.
So whenever you scream but LOL build diversity, please remember runes and sigils a part of diversity NOT all of it. Secondly, remember they will always be that 1 rune that is preferred over all runes because a lot of builds are simply copied. Very few players attempt to create their own builds.

More frequent balancing, and less skill fact balancing!
Problems:
1) Guardians are in a good place. We are so sick of hearing you say this. So just skip over the class instead since that’s really all you are doing.
2) “Shave” the stupid god mode builds: Condi PU mesmer, D/D ele, P/D condi thief, Settler’s Condi Warrior, Conditions builds in general (everyone and their mother is running conditions in PvP for a reason.
3) Fix the OPness of Strength Runes! They are way over the top. Classes that can stack might easily (eles, warrior, engis) are benefiting from this runeset so much and it is causing big time imbalance. Just look at the price of them on the TP, or how many people use them in PvP if you need evidence.Above all, please don’t wait so long in between balance patches. It’s better to have a constantly changing meta than a stale one.
I think you are tributing the OPness of Runes of Strength and amulet of celestial the strength to the elementalist shows a lack of understanding.
Also it sees you are just picking classes you have issue with.

Odd…..I was under the impression that any if not all of the achievements, spvp ranks, wvw ranks, dungeons, story lines, attaining lvl 80, maxed gear, cosmetic gear, titles, spvp tournys, mini games, world events, map completion, and basically anything in the game with a defined goal is something to accomplish.
It would be really odd to have this type of game without all those. Maybe it’s just me, but then again maybe not.
It wouldn’t be odd because games had been doing it before Xbox Live with respect to titles, achievements and blah blah blah.
Everything else exist solely because games need something to pad out their time since you can’t have infinite content.
Your original comment was about how people that spend $$ to gold don’t feel accomplished and all you did was projecting your POV onto other players, admittedly I did the same with my response.
Short of hacking or anything against the rules or being stupid in PvP, as long as the individual enjoys the game there is no right way to play a game.

Elementalist sPvP.
Strengths: Overpowered Runes of strength and Celestial amulet. If you inevitably decide to nerf those two things, you probably do some buffs.
Weakness: Conditions, extremely low Hp. Over reliance on cantrips and a minimum of 20 points in arcane and water (most cases). Most forms of active defense hidden behind long CD, while other classes have better and more effective active defense.
Hard counters: Thieves
Greatest issues: High Attunement recharges forces players to go into arcane.
Low HP with few active defense hidden behind Long CDs forces players to waste trait points in water or take a lot of cantrips.
Conjured weapons serve to weaken the class rather than help.

Only limit I know of is self esteem. Do you buy a game to play it and accomplish things or buy your way through it to pretend you did the former?
I find it more ridiculous how people feel they is something to “accomplish” in a video game other than to have fun especially in an mmorpg where at any moment you could lose it all. The point being there is nothing to be accomplished that is tangible or even worthwhile and to feel superior because you force yourself to do unfun is just sad.

Anet’s reply, “You can buy more gold in the Gem Store!”.
…. my reply is, “yes, precursor’s are one of the biggest issues with this game.” Instant lottery wealth for some, soul sucking void for others." And yes, for the thousands of hours I’ve played, never have I had one drop. Nor do I have a single legendary because of it.
precursor are not really an issue except to those that believe THEY deserve a legendary. Even still then they are largely useless.

So, you gave us the option to buy the Bone pick again, but only for 7 days???
I’m am sorry if I sound a bit sarcastic here, but not everyone has immediate access to either gold-for-gems, or real world money during that seven days. Some people get paid bi-weekly, or even monthly, or just simply cannot afford to drop some cash during that 7 day period. It’s things like this that make players angry and disenfranchised with the game.If $12.50 USD is breaking your weekly budget, you have bigger problems than a convenience item in a computer game.
I don’t necessarily agree, because you assume something doesn’t just bring up that makes having 12.50 USD bank breaking. But I will say that, I agree breaking your weekly budget over a game shows a lack of priorities.

You haven’t been watching BL chests science experiments now, have you?
no i do not..i do not usually check on forums and type on other peoples topics…but i only came here to say something to anet…that is all
Well if you have, then you wouldn’t have fallen into that trap.
Back on topic, yes, Anet needs to understand why we don’t buy BL keys. Too many science experiments have proven that they are a waste of money.
You just don’t get it and I doubt you will. You need to understand that Arenanet expects not everybody is going to buy the keys and they are perfectly content with that concept. They only need a few to buy the keys to subsidize for the majority.
So when you see “WE” the is no “WE”, it is just you and the others. “WE” implies something that doesn’t exist which is that not everybody is you and short of you telling everybody to not buy keys, it doesn’t matter.
If ANet wants to increase their sales, they should fix their gem store. The old excuse of the minority subsidizing for the majority is a load of crap, as it ridiculously assumes that ANet sets a boundary to their earnings which they decided never to exceed. Too much money a problem?
“WE” meaning those who know better.
You can stand on your soapbox and pretend to be superior to everyone, the fact of the matter is, guild wars 2 is not a starting a trend that hasn’t existed in a long time.
The fact of the matter is IF black lion keys were not selling, Arenanet would have done something about them, the fact they haven’t changed after a year and half goes to show it is not a problem.
I don’t buy black lion keys because weapon skins hold no value to me, but I wont pretend like am somehow better than adults or possibly children (YOU) play the game. But hey you are free to delude yourself into some false sense of superiority, a lot of people do that all the time.
It is a problem because as the value of gems rises, so does the prices of the gem store items. If ANet does nothing to increase their demand over time, then they would be less desirable.
You can say, oh but you can still buy them with real money and that gem/real money conversion is constant. But you would have to remember for people who buy gems with real money, there is always the opportunity cost of exchanging bought gems into gold.
As long as the exchange rate is good (i.e. rising gem price relative to gold), people with real money would find buying gems to be desirable, either to buy gem store items (so that they don’t have to use lots of gold to buy them), or to convert gems to gold. If the exchange rate is bad (i.e. gem price falls relative to gold), then people would prefer to use gold to buy gem store items.
Therefore it is in ANet’s favor to keep the value of gems high, so that real money would flow in, and to do that they need to attract those players who buy gems with gold. And the only way to do that is to keep maintaining the demand for their gem store items, against rising gem prices.
The value of BL keys have changed, for example: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Boost_Enchantment_Powder
But that may not be enough. They still need to do more to make BL keys more attractive.
And you can buy them (boost) with gold from an NPC? So the value of the BL has not changed. If you bought bL specifically for the boosters, well what can I say.

So it has not changed? People buy keys for one reason and that reason hasn’t been improved in a significant way. All the manage to do is give people false hope by giving out scraps but it still takes a very long time.
It’s only “false” if you are absolutely unable to obtain it. I can guarantee you from experience that BL chests CAN give full tickets….I’ve gotten a few.
The real issue here is that some players cannot realize the BL chests are NOT game rewards but a lottery ticket that must be unlocked (gambling). Anet is not hiding that fact…..some players are just not too bright (or have more RL $ than sense).
The person I was responding to implied the chest got improved, I simply stated that people ultimately buy the chest for the ticket and that hasn’t really improved in a significant manner, but you are right people that don’t realize what RNG is will probably get screwed.
