The trash talking is a problem with the frustration of no getting changes in pvp in several months. At the beginning the toxicity was low but with the continuos problem with leaderboards, 4vs5, skyhammer, balances, rewards, etc. people are getting tired and going to bad habits.
Trash talking has nothing to do the lack of changes in PvP. Your post is pretty much not related to the topic at hand. There are a lot of topics that will best serve you, this is not one of them.
Harassing players happens in every competitive environment even those that get updates, so you really don’t have a point.

There’s no point in conversing with them. They have made their point that they think everyone that disagrees with them is entitled. You won’t have any relevant discussion with someone with such an arrogant mindset. Best to just ignore them.
The same can be said of you. You haven’t disprove his points about precursors selling for low. Your argument amount, but but what I want is too expensive.
you whine about precursors being too expensive but when presented with choice you start whining how it isn’t the one you want and how even though players have been getting it somehow over the course of two years, you are just too special to put in the same work.
So you can try to act like you are not entitled but all the evidence seem to show otherwise.
Just to add, when your argument amounts I am right and you are wrong, you really don’t have an argument and it is best just to move on.

Technically everything in the store is subject to ANet’s discretion on whether it stays or goes.
Yeah but… this is not the usual rotation of minipet packs in the Gem Store. I just think we customers have the right to ask why routines have been changed.
Stop abusing the word “right”. There is no rights here only what ARenanet wants to give you. In any case, Arenanet does what is beneficial to Arenanet.

Celestial is fine, self high might stack is the problem.
Ele and war can reach easily 20+ stack might! engi celestial, without a fire field, only 10 more or less.
Nerfing sigil of battle could help, but imho finding a way to buff less might by on their own would be better.
Maybe give classes more access to boon removal or stealing, would be nice.

Fairly simple solution (from a player’s perspective) that takes server pride, griefing and 24/7 coverage into account -
Right now, in North America, we have eight matches spread across 32 maps (3 borderlands and one EBG per match).
Instead, give us one huge match every week that is basically 8v8v8 (evenly split servers – can adjust if populations dont match up well).
And, have that match on the exact same 32 maps. Every server would still have a “borderlands map” named after their server.
Players could queue for any of the following three: any enemy borderland, their own borderland (no other server in their battlegroup could), or any of the 8 EBGs (which would need unique names). This would give every player a total of 16 possible maps to play on each week – at any given time – with access to players from 8 different servers (which should fix the coverage problem as well).
To retain server identity, rewards would be two tiered. First, the servers in the winning battlegroup would get the same rewards winning servers get now.
Second, servers should get slight advantages while holding their own borderland, giving them something to hold/brag about. By limiting queues to server borderlands, it would retain server identity and reduce griefing. Griefing on other maps would be a non issue because guilds or server groups could simply move to another map to get away.
This seems like it would be easy to implement from a dev side as well – all we would need is a new interface (with new scoring) and player access to multiple maps.
This is probably the best idea. So have an 8v8v8 but instead on 32 maps have it about 16 to 24 (so 1 borderland for each server and 6 eternal battlegrounds) maps to allow for increased population on certain maps that are underutilized. This will allow for over flowing servers to go support others in their league that are under populated while keeping the bigger server’s imaginary “community” in tack.

OP Time gates exist for multiple reasons some of them beneficial to players and others beneficial to Arenanet.
Arenanet:
Players log in ever day.
Slows down progression for a subset.
Players (beneficial):
Makes certain material valuable.
Players can make money off crafting.
slows down in power either by players not bothering to wait or the material requirements and time being too much.
Player (hurts)
I want it now crowd.
I have 10 hours to play crowd.
I have 9 characters and I want to gear all of them. (Which would valid to some degree IF Ascended gear was ever truly needed to complete most content at standard level).
I understand why it bothers you, but from a game design standpoint, it actually makes a lot of sense. By making the restriction account-locked, they can somewhat control the production of the items, keeping them moderately exclusive.
Exclusive? Hardly.. The timegating is a matter of days/weeks, the game has been out for years. Given the time needed for gathering the absurd variety of materials, all this does it make an already obtuse and tedious crafting mechanic even more annoying. Time gated crafting is one of those flawed, old-school mechanics that should have been thrown into the trash but ArenaNet continues to cling to it.
It’s a pity, they have done such a good job removing some of the flaws of past MMOs but that just makes the places where those flawed mechanics appear in the game all the more apparent.
There is also the potential with character-lock for people flooding the market, which means prices go wonky and in that scenario, next thing you know, people are complaining about how the items aren’t worth anything.
What a shame if all Ascended items become completely common and everyone has them. That would mean a complete end to any kind of gear grind and kitten knows no one would want that! Why then, people would only be grinding for cosmetic skins, rather than stats and no game can possibly survive doing that. GW1? What’s that? /sarcasm
Except that guild wars 1 was no an MMORPG. But the reason why guild wars 1 “survived” was because it had either a standalone or expansion content every 6-12 months. Once that content flow stopped? The game quickly became dead. The only thing that kept guild wars 1 longer was the introduction of HOM (but before it’s introduction gw1 was dead), so your argument fails. Guild wars 1 was not sustained purely by cosmetic skins, it was sustained by expansions. It wasn’t solely cosmetics, actually I truly doubt it was ever cosmetics. *
The main difference between guild wars 1 and guild wars 2 needs players to log in everyday to be able to generate income necessary to play for 300 employees while making a profit. Guild wars 1 did not have that and relied on releasing either a new standalone every 6-12 months at full price. Also it did not really matter to Arenanet if nobody logs in between content as long as they bought the box, guild wars 2 needs to give players a reason to log in every day. (Honestly given the initial structure of the game, I doubt that was their original intent until the market response was terrible).
Anyways, if you are going to make a comparison between two games at least do an honest one.

You mean seriously? Change from b2p friendly and competetive game for p2w with grindfest, where you have to pay for longer playing even with subscription (Archage)? I’ll try it but I think it won’t be anything worth bigger time.
Waiting for Everquest next tho.
Edit: Allright I’ve just seen that they undo some p2w changes in archage, so it can be more worth trying. Combat is somewhat weak side to me tho.
So you are going to wait for 2 years huh?
As for me, I might go back to console gaming with DA:I or try Skyforge. Skyforge “Seems” to have a lot of the things Iike, action combat fancy graphics and animation and a non tab targeted system like BnS (which I liked until the endgame).

Nope you are right. I did 17/20 instead of 20/17. Fail. No idea why i didnt notice that. I guess my brain has been rotting for a while.
This explains why my tooltip values showed a smaller difference. Lich is 2.04 coeff per second and dagger is 1.4 coeff per second. Still, the end conclusion is the same. Open with burst and then use Lich form for short fights.
You would recommend to use your build for open world casual PvE? I don’t do dungeons or fractures.

Recently in new update they added a new trading post. I do think its great, but its more laggy and when I buy mats or items it takes forever to get them. When I sell items i dont get any gold back. The Old trading post will give you the items instantly, and i would enjoy it after. Sometimes when i want or need items i look at the trade post, Error. I cant see anything most of the time, and some of my friends can never seen it. I enjoyed the last trading we had, it was much easier to get the stuff we want. I want the old trade post back! Please ANet…
Nobody seems to have mentioned this but it looks like the OP is failing to understand the difference between buy orders and sell orders.
If you want your item instantly, you need to choose from the list on the right. These are people who are willing to sell you the item right now so you don’t have to wait. The other list is if you want to pay less and wait a while to get your item.
If you want to sell your item instantly, you have to choose from the list on the left. These are people who want to buy your item right now. Again, the other list is if you want to put your item up for sale and wait a while for someone to buy it.
It’s not totally clear if this is what you’re complaining about, but it seems possible.
It seems like it that is what he is complaining about. He doesn’t understand the left and right of the new TP because if he did, he would know it is faster.
It seems except for the bugs, most of this complaints can be summed up as, I don’t like change. In a few weeks they will probably get over it.

I randomly stumbled upon this post, and I just wanted to say thank you OP. I never knew of Archeages existence and finally found something 10x better and immersive than GW2. Reminds me of a modern Ultima Online. Did about 2-3 hours of reading on it and that is definitely where I belong xD
/* packs away gw2 */
So thanks!
You probably wont see this, but you might actually want to give the game a try. Reading about a game is not the same as playing the game. Certain aspects can completely overshadow or become a bigger deal than you would expect from reading about the game. this is especially true of AA, cuz the game sound nice but the combat and p2w cash shop.
Like for me blade and soul was a game I looked forward, it had all the great check boxes. Great action combat, great graphics and really really deep character customization. Unfortunately, all those nice things fell apart at level the moment I realize that after you hit cap all you really did everyday was farm instance and dailies (4 hours a day) to level up your weapon because that’s all you had. So sadly I had to walk away, but that’s just me.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
They didnt mess up, you did.
They talked about this in the blog posts.
So everyone has to read blog post before playing patched game? It’s their fault not to give clear hints IN GAME. Like something in the description of new insignia or whatever. I was crafting new item thinking “oh it would give selectable stats, that’s interesting”, expecting something new, and.. .getting item with same stats as my rare item and losing ridiculous amount of ectos. In the end I had to salvage this with black lion salvage kit. I’m not proud of being dumb, really. But I think developers did not enough to safeguard players from such mistakes.
Why do you think ARenanet goes through the trouble of writing these blogpost? So people can read it and be informed.
Ignorance is not an excuse for making a costly mistake.

I really don’t understand all of this anti-entitlement stuff that people have been preaching these days.
We’re not saying we are owed a free expansion or anything. We’re asking for game play.
Hence why they decided to go to the LS story route, it adds something to the game and the ones interested are going to log in, once every 2 weeks versus 1 month every 1 year.
I actually like LS2. The purpose of my post though: If they did actual expansions or expansion-like content, they would have to create more armor sets (for example) that are earned through progress in-game. Currently all of the armor skins (aside from ascended) have just been added to the post every few chapters. And now they’ve gotten to the point were we don’t even get armor but unmixable outfits instead.
Take Mawdrey for example. I didn’t really need Mawdrey, nor do I care for the skin, but I did everything in my power to obtain it. Why? Because it is a reward for interesting gameplay and it was fun to obtain.
We don’t get mixable armor because a lot of players seem to extremely hate clipping in guild wars 2. Clipping is a known issue in almost every game (but lesser in single player games that don’t even have armor pieces mixing). In any case Guild wars 2 fans have been shown to be extremely efficient at ignoring the good and focusing entirely on the bad.
Personally, I think Arenanet should stop giving out armor and go fully into a outfit system similar to blade and soul. Give out outfits as rewards instead of armor pieces.
With your mawdrey example, it seems to me that the fun gameplay was secondary to the reward and if that is how you play you will never be satisfied because you will always be demanding new rewards.
Moving on. Let’s look at things from Arenanet’s prospective, why should they release new dungeons, better yet why an expansion? The fact that new dungeons were stop being made probably means that their metrics show they were not popular enough to justify the amount of resources require to build them. Secondly, unlike WOW that needs an expansion to justify charging players 15 bucks a month for 12 months + charging an expansion, guild wars 2 doesn’t which means it is probably not a viable strategy for two reason.
1. players are going to buy through the content and leave the game within a month.
2. the cost of an expansion is the equivalent of 6 armor pieces bought on the cash shop. And that armor pieces probably require a 1000 times less work and money than making an expansion.
tl;dr
ARenanet has no reason to make an expansion. The cost of making an expansion is probably a 1000 times more than a cost of making 1 armor or outfit piece and you only need to buy 3-4 armor pieces to get the equivalent of a expansion price.

Play something else or play the elementalist properly. I remember last year the developers were telling us how a majority of the population only stick to one attunement, which is why they don’t want to give us a second weapon in combat.
Sucks for us that plays the elementalist properly.

There is gameplay, the LS adds it. The issue seems more like your expectation for the game does not match Arenanet expectation for their game. Personally, I don’t blame Arenanet. When Guild wars 2 was released, it was release with a lot of content, the problem was the very vocal decided to burn through that content within a week and half by reaching 80 and began demanding more content. The was actually a thread asking when the next expansion will come out within 2 weeks of release. You cannot compete with that.
Hence why they decided to go to the LS story route, it adds something to the game and the ones interested are going to log in, once every 2 weeks versus 1 month every 1 year.

Your expectations for the game are entirely different from ARenanet’s expectations. Either you have to accept guild wars 2 for what it is or hope that Arenanet changes or move on. Arenanet has all the keys and the numbers seem to favor them, so I doubt they will change.

You have to find a way to say what you want to say without being rude about it. I’d wager that the problem with importing PvP concepts and game modes from GW1 is that the game mechanics are very different. People ask for GvG, as it was in GW1, like once a month and the reality is that GvG would be very, very different in GW2. This game is only a “Guild Wars” installment in theme and title only.
They have to come up with new arenas that work within the foundation they currently have, not what they had in GW1… so perhaps that’s just a steep challenge and they’re undecided on it. I’m sure some additions are coming, sooner or later.
Its been 2 years, they can’t make a map in 2 years?
Well they did make maps and a lot of player complained about it. And considering they had to redesign a lot of the PvP mechanics like rewards, added custom, solo Q, etc new maps. Also your short-sighted argument fails once you realize that alot of maps are made but not all of them are successful so they have to be redesigned or dropped all of which takes a lot of time.

I don’t think anyone even cares about the possible imbalances this could bring, it would simply provide an alternative meta.
Wrong.
Arenanet cares about the imbalance it will bring. Furthermore a of players will care about he imbalance it will bring and you know why? Because contrary to what players on the forum think, the 10 or 20 people that post here do not represent the 100 people that PvP.
History has shown that a lot of people do not know what they want and the imbalance will not be accept just because it comes with a new mode. The complains will switch from moar new modes to how ARenanet broke their game or how Arenanet did not balance 2v2/3v3 or whatever reason players can dream up to complain about something. The point being nobody not even yourself will be happy about a terrible 2v2/3v3 imbalance map and as usual the ones asking for it will conveniently forget that they were the ones spent the last 2 years whining and claiming not to care about the imbalance it a new game mode will create.

Case and point:
I agree. We’ve done some of the core stuff we wanted to nail w/ the conquest format, so now we’ll start getting into different secondaries that provide new types of gameplay.
^ Over a year ago… Still hasn’t happened, and this “new PvP format” just simply is not working…
Which brings me back to topic… Why don’t we switch back to what we KNOW works, what we KNOW is successful from GW1… and just add all these new ideas and features on top of that hugely successful framework?
(Edit: Added that to topic)
I think he was talking about skyhammer at that moment. Anyways It still boggles my head how there is no GvG ( Guild vs guild ) in GUILD wars 2 and if there’s never gonna be GvG, change the name of the game cuz it just confusing and deceptive to the buyers
It is only confusing if you never research a product before buying it. Given it takes like 2 minutes to find whatever you want, it seems like a better idea for everybody to research it yourself, which you should be doing as a smart and functional human consumer. And you should be doing it anyways to see if the game has any major issues.
In any case, guild wars 2 needs more game modes and as long as GvG isn’t exclusive to only guilds then why not. I don’t want to have to put up with joining a guild just to play a game mode.

If those guys are Arenanet could just make blinding ashes per target and bam they got at least a couple of new builds for the elementalist. I guess it twas too much to ask to make blinding ashes not still terrible.
I wonder who thought it was a great idea to make it like the thieves trap, it seems the new blinding ashes will only be good with staff 3 since there is not enough time to dodge the obvious ground AOE.
Not I’m not really sure if it’s going to work like I said, I’m only guess, focus fire 4 would still be better to use then a thief trap because it range, making it easier to hit multilipy targets with it, and would still be good with anything that cause aoe burning in one shot.
But it would be infinite more better per target. I mean how many times do you get in a situation where you have everybody bunch up like that for aoe fire to hit them all at once? (spvp) WvW you got other issues to worry about.

games like rift, lotro, perfect world and such don’t have problems like that, there is a wardrobe system superior to that of GW2.
all you have to do is slot the skin in a separated slot and it will mask the armor with that of the skin, the original armor will still stay the same but you just don’t see it.

read and judge for your self, i know rift doesn’t allow weapon skins that way but it can always be made that way in GW2.

The elementalist need a high dps elite or an elite that instantly recharge your attunements.
The current elites are not helping.
I think that has been tossed around the community as the perfect “active” for the signet skill.
That’s terrible an elite that only recharges you attunement? that’s weak.
Not really, think about the possibilities with traits like Fresh air. It also depends on the recharge timer.
The problem with instant recharge as an elite is that it doesn’t recharge our really really really high CD skills. So yes, recharging is nice, but a lot of the time you are still lock out of your decent skills. Now if it recharged everything but on a 120 second CD, then maybe.

Eles are “hugely viable” in wvw without meteornado cheese. I’d be perfectly happy if they simply made tornado useful on its own.
it allows counterplay by being very easy to spot and isnt even garanteed to hit everyone(thus making it not cheese), removing meteornado just dumbs down the game because you no longer have to see what you are standing in. They can remove meteornado when they give us an elite which is usable and dont just let us run fgs to oneshot thief which try to attack us
Tornado should have been be improved but removing a gimmick and the game breaking feature of FGS is also important.
Maybe next year arenanet will improve tornado to not be terrible.

I am going to tell you this right now, but you probably already know this.
You are not doing anybody including yourself any favors but being intentionally dense and exaggerating the elementalist flaws. If you truly believe your own words the elementalist was already a healbot way before this nerf, since this combo can only be used every 150 seconds, so nothing really changes except you don’t have to rely on a gimmick.

1.) Not just a 1-2 hour game but something that is about a week long.
2.) Something that will not drive the population though the roof.
3.) Allow a maximum of 200-300 players to participate at any given period of time.
4.) Something that will not develop large queues.
5.) Something that will not turn into exactly what you are upset about. Stacking on the winning team.
6.) Something that will get pride in a chosen faction and allow friends to play together.I think you will find it is no so easy to do this.
My only concern is how hard the meta will be. A lot of players do not have a extensive period of time to play each week. Already some will be left out due to school/vacation/other.
Rewards based on a ratio of active wvw population to score. Perfect? No but still better than what we have
How do you determine active WvW population in a fair and balance way. Secondly, you solution punishes players on active servers, while YOU as a player might not care, developers have to care. Anet has to be as fair as possible, that’s is their job.
So really your solution is terrible. Anyways, so glad you are not a developer.
To make people spread out and not stack u have to punish the most active servers. I gives incentive to move to less active servers. It rewards skill over numbers. As for counting numbers that’s a bit tricky. Could b based on number of people who completed the achievement , having to spend a certain amount of time in wvw, experience gained or a mix of all 3. Again counting active is the hard part.
You are not the first person to suggest that.
Arenanet isn’t going to force players to move. Rarely do companies ever do that unless it is absolutely necessary. So that is a terrible suggestion. Moving players involves breaking up guilds separating from and possibly family from each other, a company like Arenanet will never do that.
From a keeping people happy and not forcing server changing yes its a bad idea. However the question was on how to stop server stacking. Unless people r willing to do it themselves as a community, Anet needs to punish people who server stack
And Arenanet is not going to force it, in a harsh way. They might try to nudge players a little bit but it is extremely difficult to in a meaningful way, without causing issues.
the other solutions was to simply separate WvW from their home servers and balance similar to EoTM, but a lot of people kitten and moan how it will destroy their non existent “server” community. Which is funny because the WvW server community amounts to less than 300 on average.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
I am not buying it because I hate the look of it. There.
Don’t worry OP, other people are going to buy it and that is all that matters. I am sure you don’t buy everything in the cash shop, right? and guess what? the show went on.
