Ah yes, because in GW1 people didn’t find other sorts of currencies (like Armbracer, Ectos and so on) for high value trades…
I would actually say that in general, the expensive things in GW1 was more expensive (relatively) than GW2.
one armbrace is equal to 10g, to a regular GW2 farmer, 10g is nothing…….
why does it “have” to be a lvl 80 map, why not have some new mid/high level maps?
a while ago i was discussing on what level cantha should start, we ended up with a decision that it should start as a lvl 50 area and build up to lvl 80.
this is so mid level characters can enjoy cantha while not making it to much a “let’s rush there with a new character” expansion, it’s just right.
you might think that you want more with a lvl 80 character but it beg’s the question, we already have southsun and look how many are actually playing there.
also, a max character already has allot of exclusive things, having something in a mid level opens up the game so much.
even the presents of wintersday are way to much focused on max level, any character on the appropriate level are struggling to even take out one doll.
so to ask for a new lvl 80-only map is like asking Anet to make the same mistake they already did, it’s better to expand what we need rather then expand to lower boredom.
did you that when you add a gold limit (in that you can only make something cost a max amount of gold) things tend to balance it self out, you can’t ask 3K gold for a skin so if you can only ask max 500g you ether ask 500g or lower the price.
not saying the limit should be 500g, i am just saying that a gold cap lowers the overly expensive crap and the full need of gold.
it works perfectly fine in GW1, why does it have to be so enormously annoyingly expensive in GW2?
i am personally getting sick of gold sing, its becoming impossible to get something nice without farming the heck out of this game.
the worst part, you have to constantly pay 2X when you die, pay when you travel, pay to get your character to use the trait system, pay to do anything at all.
this is not a gold sink, it’s gold prevention….
in GW1 there was no ownership on any instance, why Anet was so stupid to add it in GW2…..no one knows…
bringing back some of the achievements isn’t time travel, it’s simply letting some ppl get what they didn’t had the chance to do……
Well if I was a boss and I saw:
- A knight
- An archer
- A paladin
- Another paladin
- And a magecoming to kill me, I’d try to kill the mage first too. It’s the biggest and also squishiest threat.
and what if you mix a dark mage in that list, you now have a situation were the mage is maybe squishy but not the biggest threat.
maybe the ele in GW2 is the monk from GW1……;)
i don’t care about titles at all, i just like to complete what i didn’t last year, is that to much to ask?
it’s a way to make you spend more gold, you die so you travel……kaching
because
1.) there is nothing new in the existing map or Anet destroyed the use of it
2.) we want what GW1 has, a giant scope to explore with different moods everywhere, i have yet to see a desert in GW2.
for the system to improve, a group of players need to do the same.
i would love to do dungeons but with the mentality we have now (need full geared, need to know the “run”, you have to prove your worth, etc…) i don’t even want to bother, in GW1 it didn’t mater because if a player was not so good or never played the dungeon others were more then happy to help out.
that’s the real problem here, ppl, it’s not entirely the problem of the system, it’s mostly the player base that loves to go all maxed out and doesn’t have any room anymore to simply help out.
i wanted to buy it but since they removed it…..their loss i suppose….
the reason why they don’t release cantha is because both korea and china did not like the idea of having an expansion that mixes both country’s cultural buildings as one, i honestly don’t see why the give a f*** because they already made it and it’s their own design and property….
only if it doesn’t cost 100g but something that proves you’re worthy to be a commander, currently i take any commander’s words with a grain of salt.
I was kinda disappointed by the crafting for this reason. Each tier of materials could have easily had 3 sets of different armor if they had used armor from or based on GW1. Instead the first two fine sets and the masterwork all look alike. If they’d ported over GW1 armor with some touch ups to fill the redundancy of those it would have made the customization of GW2 rival all of its competitors. Not to mention it would have provided a balance to the sexy V.S. ugly… I mean practical… they said they would have.
agreed, i took tailor because i hoped for some good looking robes to craft, i am almost at 400 but i never really cared enough because most robes look ether ugly or don’t fit in GW lore.
You know one thing that would make more people use town clothes? Have the City Travel buff auto-apply to you if you equip them while in a city. Bam, everyone’s now using town clothes since it lets them move about quicker, and you know there’ll be people that will prefer to be in the cooler looking town clothes, so that’ll prob drum up some gem sales too.
actually, the only way to see them being used is to make them available for combat, i don’t care about a stupid buff if it still makes it useless outside cities.
you know what the difference is between dungeons, fartials, LS vs duels, you can ignore all of the former and get the last in your face constantly regardless.
if it’s in a dedicated arena without gear limits then sure, beat the crap out of each other.
if it’s in the open world then no, it keeps on being a bother for both ppl who simply don’t want to duel at the time and the players who can’t stand duels.as i said before, i am just one of the masses who can’t stand duels and every single MMO we play will always be played in a PvE server (so duels are not even allowed).
i am just one of the masses who already gave alternative ideas to make everyone happy but that’s apparently not enough, it has to be pushed in our throat and we have no say in the matter.Jeez, Sorudo, you sure are stubborn.
What MMO have you played where duels aren’t allowed?
I’m about 50/50 — i don’t believe you/genuinely curious.
SWToR, LOTRO, TERA, just name a few…..
and before you start yelling “but you can duel there”, that’s only in PvP servers, not PvE servers.
Go to your Hero panel. Click the little top hat icon at the top. You will see a different outfit. You can hotkey set a toggle to go between armor and town clothes. The town clothes can’t be used in combat and tend to be more citified cloth outfits. Occasionally you can get more via the gem store so as to expand your wardrobe.
I’ve been playing since launch and never noticed those before…
So they can’t be used in combat and have a very limited selection? Why not just make them armor skins and dump this concept?Town clothes are also used for costume brawl.
barely anyone does costume brawl at all, it’s used even less then the GW1 version.
or just make sure that this will only count as long as the character is online, when you log out with your character it go’s back to max health again.
berserker
lore: long ago, when the dwarfs still lived among the world’s greatest hero’s, there was a group that had a temper beyond that of anger.
they used there rage to charge trough even the mightiest foe, even with barely any armor to protect their fragile bodies they charged as if they were possessed by an unknown force.
after 200 years of world evolution the 4 races managed to learn the same arts as the ancient dwarfs did, they harnessed the power of rage and uncontrolled fury to conquer the mightiest foe’s and dared the most dangerous challenges that makes even the most brave warrior shake in their boots.
reverence picture:
http://maxcdn.thedesigninspiration.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Berserker-l.jpg
gameplay focus:
the berserker is focused on heavy armor but has many skills that sacrifices defense/armor for pure damage, this is the ultimate DPS glass cannon.
they are able to support but only trough keeping the enemy busy while the rest recuperates, their true strength comes in battle ground control.
they are the masters of close range control and can attack whole groups with conditions and ground control skills, they are able to change from a defense savant to a raging monster in seconds.
they have the following weapons:
- great sword
- great axe
- sword(both hands)
- dagger(off-hand)
- hammer
- mace (ether hand)
they have the following F key skills which will be available when you have enough adrenaline:
- anger-for X second, increase your damage drastically while lowering your armor rate.(lvl 1)
- hate-for X seconds, your AOE attacks become single target attacks but do 3X more damage.(lvl 4)
- release-shakes off immobilize, cripple and chill.(lvl 8 )
example of skills:
signet of endurance
passive: gain health while you attack
active: fill your adrenaline bar
dwarven stance
for X seconds, you can’t be knocked down/chilled/immobilized/feared/crippled and hate now causes fear 2 meters around you.

i also miss costumes and the assassin, but that is something ppl have bin asking for even during the GW2 beta.
TBH, the problem isn’t when, but what.
do we get yet another dungeon or fracture or do we finally get something like the crystal desert or even close to the size of cantha.
i don’t get why a non-GW1 player can’t access the HoM, it’s not like they can get the rewards you get from GW1 that way.
so +1 from me, it would be great to have a use for the HoM other then a place to get HoM-exclusive skins/pets.
town clothing don’t sell so well because of what so many ppl already said, they can’t be used in combat so they become nothing more then some fluff with no use other then ether RP-ing or costume brawl.
RP-ing is quite something you need to get in to so if you’re simply not interested it makes it useless to you, costume brawl is something they should’ve never added other then in a specific arena. (i don’t see anyone doing it unless there is an event build around it)
make them like GW1, sell clothing that NPC’s are wearing, it sells them for at least 200% better.
ps. love to wear this:

This is a bad idea.
Players that like having followers already have that possibility. almost every proffesion has the ability to have a follower already.
Ranger – pets
Necromancer – minions
Elementalists – elementals (although these do need rework)
Mesmers – clones
Engineer – turrets
Thief – the thiefs
Guardian – spirit weapons
Warrior – ???? (something could be added here.)
Except for the warriors, every class already has followers. This system would be too hard to balance, which would force players to either have an annoying AI follower bumming them 24/7 or prohibit players that would want an AI follower from having it, in order to fall in strength
ele and guardian pets are gone after about a minute, thief only has them trough an elite skill, engineer turrets are stationary and mesmer clones & phantoms are only available on a enemy.
hardly a link there…..
its part of their design goals to keep info as minimal as possible..
you can say that again, 80% of all the skills and traits have no explanation on how it works at all let alone what it does.
or just removed annoyances, an NPC being killed is almost always out of your control so they simply made it this way.
That’s the right attitude because frankly, Anet doesn’t want your gold, they want your money. If the system is done ‘wrong’ for people that want to use gold, I hope it stays that way. I would rather not pay a monthly subscription fee just because people want cheap stuff off the gemstore. I don’t feel like subsidizing players’ sense of entitlement.
uhmm, i buy gems with real money because i don’t have the time to play every day and don’t see zerging and farming as a play style, i just expect the gold from it that i should get rather then a lower amount.
the problem is simple, the difference between gold->gem and gem->gold is to big, if they close that gap only then we can talk about a stable exchange.
if it costs 7 gold for 100 gems then it should cost 100 gems for 7 gold, it currently isn’t so.If they were to do such a thing the exchange would become ripe with speculators and prospectors. Every patch would be accompanied by much more dramatic fluctuations than we have now.
if i see 100 gems is 7 gold then i expect to get that, if i don’t get 7 gold but just 5 gold i will simply never every use that system because it’s done wrong.
then wtf does downed state do in PvP if it’s a certain death sign, remove it from PvP.

i see the idea behind it but no, i never liked the perm-temp item idea from the get go and see it as a scam to get money from the unfortunate ones.
Of course it’s cumulative. A $25 gem card is only 2000 gems. Do you really think that if someone buys a $25 card and then buys another one two weeks later they’re going to say, sure you bought 4000 gems, but it was two different cards so it doesn’t count!
No reply is needed.
bit off topic but if you search around you can get such a card for €16,-
I don’t think they have those at Wal-Mart.
in europe, wall-markt doesn’t exsist yet i can still find one, look beyond retail
Even if I did, I don’t have any euros.
….facepalm
that’s not the point -_-
1. cantha
2. the rest of tyria
3. a stop on the current LS’s while making more permanent LS’s
4. great sword for the necro
5. martial artist class
==not to add: duels in PvE open world==
you know what the difference is between dungeons, fartials, LS vs duels, you can ignore all of the former and get the last in your face constantly regardless.

simple thing, make it so that when you finish someone you can’t be in stealth, i do find it a horrible system if you can kill someone while in stealth this way.
i always imagine bracelets as a new weapon, they can go from regular bracelets to things like this:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Chimeric_Prism_Focus
it makes it easier to make bare handed without having it as default when you unequip a weapon, yet another gold sink with a good purpose.
more like SWToR……and i like the idea behind it, the problem is that the AI will always be an issue with GW2.
can they dodge in a timely fashion, are they able to detect dangerous moments, do they know when and when not to attack a target, does it slow you down when it is attacked, does the game eventually have to make you weaker to keep it balanced, does it fight with you, can it be attacked, can it attack, if it can attack does it have it’s own skills?
and the list go’s on, it would be nice but you have to think it trough a bit further before suggesting such a complicated system.

the GW1 system is flawless, the armor has a max armor stat per profession and only the looks makes it special, not the stat.
so ascended would only be something for looks, if fine or masterwork has the max stat then sure but don’t make the highest tier superior and so exclusive giving only a small group the big advantage while the rest has to grind for their gear for so long.
Anet said that this game is not going to be a gear grind fest, till they make the GW1 system in GW2 this game has one of the biggest gear grind to date.
You all try to argue with scrambles, yet he trumps you ever time. He has effectively covered every point and counter-point you could think of using logic and reasoning, and for that, I applaud you scrambles. It’s simple really, you get an option that is added to the game that you can participate in or not, and it in no way affects how you play or what you are playing.
WvWer’s have to deal with PvE in their PvP content and that’s not even an option to turn off. People just deal with it. Just like they would with duels.
in your point of view, up until now he has said nothing to compromise anything while still staying so stubborn on forcing things in ppl’s face.
also, you can also simply deal with the fact that there is already a duel option, you can deal with the fact that duels in the open PvE world disrupts someone’s fun this should not happen.it’s better to keep something away when it only brings problems rather then add something while screwing over the rest of the crowd.
There is no point in arguing with you. You fail to use any sort of common sense or logic in your arguments. Your just focused on not having an option that others may find fun. You keep saying it will ruin your PvE experience, but that makes no sense because it cant interfere with PvE. You’re being selfish and a troll and i’m done with you.
GW2 is 2/3 PvP, there are plenty of PvP exclusive things and i am the selfish one?
you’re the selfish one, you only care about PvP and never provide any reason WHY PvP should be in the PvE side of the game.
if you want to duel use the options or accept the alternatives ppl already provided, if you can’t even do that then all you do is being selfish and ignoring someone else’s wishes.
huh, you can get something useful from glory?
i have 5K i never use because i never play PvP and the rewards i can buy are PvP restrictive, if what you say is true then can i finally use it for something i do have a use for?
zergs in dungeons are not a big problem, the real big problem are the open world zergs.
for the necro, if you can’t kill a group of enemies you’re doing something wrong.
it’s the most powerful class among the scholars and have build possibilities that makes a guardian walk away with shame.
i suggest to start with the staff and train your self to survive with daggers, when you got that under your belt you’re ready to take down whole groups of enemies, players and PvE enemies alike.
just see what feels right to you, i can suggest a build but you might not even be comfortable with it.
necro’s can swap, only the elle and engineer can’t.
IMO the elle has 2X more weapon skills then any other profession so adding a weapon switch makes them enormously OP.
however, i do think that the engineer should have a weapon switch when the following is met:
- no weapon kit in your unity skills slot
- no other kit in your unity skill slot
- no kit in your elite slot
when even one kit is equipped the switch button is disabled, no exceptions
i always liked to see the berserker to be added, a class that focuses on full bloody damage but with a defense weakness.
the warrior is both offense and support, the guardian is offense and defense, the berserker can focus on pure offense and conditions.
I don’t think the seeming randomness disproves a ley line pattern theory.
I didn’t mean to imply that there wasn’t a possibility they have to do with ley lines, I was referring to posts that say there is a specific pattern with the location of the Thumpers. Not saying there can’t be, but I don’t think if there is a pattern, it’ll look like this: https://d1ej19d7kwigfi.cloudfront.net/uploads/forum_attachment/file/7129/zusammen.jpg
So if the deep sea dragon is under southsun, does that mean that the karka are his minions :O
That map is inaccurate. That was part of my point. The Karka were fleeing from the dragon. As for as I know, Bubbles is somewhere in the Unending Ocean. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bubbles
It would be an interesting twist if they turned out to be his minions though.
looking at the type of dragon, it’s most certainly a asian themed dragon.
maybe cantha?
