If it isn’t instance it would be a zerg fest, I am going to assume you hate doing open world content.
They will be a zerg by virtue of being in the open world, assuming it is open world. If you hate seeing other players you might be playing the wrong game, slick.
zerging isn’t playing with other players, it’s chasing a big group just to farm loot.
also, playing in an open world can be done without a zerg fest, 20 ppl in the entire instance is plenty and can be scattered to take down the enemies.
I’ll save you server chat.
“Join my guild!”
“Join my party!”
“Buy my gold!”
“Lawl he wears celestial!”
“There’s a guardian with a mace! That’s not part of my wiki build!”
“Your wiki build sucks! I got v1.1 of that wiki build so I know how to play better than you do because someone else told me how to play!”
“Cleric’s FTW!”
“Buy MY gold!”
“Where’s this vista?”
“Help me with this event! It’s a group event in the middle of nowhere that pays 2 silver and costs 5 silver to get there and back!”
“What’s a good build for ranger?”
“Uninstall the game! There’s a good build!”
“Use cleric’s, longbow and get a bear and spam 4 in every dungeon!”
“Pro build!”
“Join my level 30 dungeon! Must be level 80 in full zerker ascended with 21k AP because AC is very very hard!”
“Need guardian for level 1 Fractals because we’re bad at the game!”Still a good idea?
the sad thing is, this is exactly the reason why i stopped caring about dungeons in the first place >_<
they can do this with sooooooo many things, just look at gem store armor skins and you’ll see that the BL chest one is quite a non-issue compare to SB a gem store armor skin for 800 gems >_<
there is no argument, are you blind?
i would like to travel in a more immersive way, quick travel is way to cheap a way and running everywhere makes the game all that more boring.Once again, all I see is “me me me.”
How would mounts improve the game for all, or even most? I’ve played plenty of games with mounts, game with worlds that were actually designed for them, and they were no more or less immersive than games without them. In a few of these games, mounts if anything just felt weird and unnatural because you couldn’t fight on them. It’s certainly no less immersive not having mounts than magically pulling a large animal out of thin air when you need to go faster. You may be “bored” but that’s your personal view. The majority of the player community seems absolutely fine with it.
again with the “majority of players” crap, the forum doesn’t represent the majority, it’s just a bare 1%.
also, you see “me me me”, to me i see “i don’t want it so it should never happen”.
there are two sides, what you want might be something i don’t want, does that make my opinion a better one, no and so is yours.
1. People who quit the game but find it necessary to troll the forums long after they’ve left…
2. Everyone with the “I want it nao for no effortz!!!” attitude…
The game is a beautiful game, and there are so many fun things to do I can hardly count them all, but when I come to the forums for information or to see what’s up with the meta, all I see is people who seem to think that trolling a forum for a game game they don’t play any more makes them look intelligent, or people who are unhappy that they can’t have everything handed to them on a silver platter.
maybe there is a reason they left, like, flaws that never get fixed or new stuff being buggy but never fixed ether etc….
they don’t troll, they are concerned about the game, all they want is the game to improve.
they payed for the game just as you did, they also have all the right to talk about this game in their own way just like you do.
if buying gems with real money was more beneficial and less beneficial for gold farmers we would see more ppl buying gems with real money, last time i presented an idea it was shot because even a basic change makes them so afraid….as if they lose out money when farming gold…..
Sorudo, if you could just never speak again that’d be great.
why, are you my boss?
no, so why not do it your self huh……man up kid.
there is no argument, are you blind?
i would like to travel in a more immersive way, quick travel is way to cheap a way and running everywhere makes the game all that more boring.
Yes, swimming in Gold from selling sprockets at 40c per at a 30% chance to drop while you have ignored your initial capital investment. Can’t wait … literally, since it will take you half a year just to break even.
so, are you in any rush?
i am not, why rush when i can just enjoy the game without worrying about my pick breaking all the time.
how can i follow someone’s command’s when i am a better leader anytime?
i might not have a 100g tag on me but that doesn’t make me less a leader, it makes me less a gold grinder.
Again … if you are getting this pick just because you want to sell sprockets, you haven’t done a cost benefit assessment of the pick. To borrow from another thread:
“It will take you over SEVENTY-SIX THOUSAND swings of that pick to recover the value you would have gotten if you just turned the gems into gold, right now, today. Even if the value of the sprockets quadrupled, we are still talking about TENS OF THOUSANDS of swings.”
If you believe this is a good money making opportunity, I wish you luck.
oh wow, but speed runs in dungeons, QD trains and fractures are a benefit to you?……
I don’t get what those things have to do with infinite mining pick so … ?
As for the number of swings … the point again is lost on you … If you NEED sprockets for gear, the pick is not how you should get them. If you NEED sprockets because you want to sell them to make money, you’re probably looking to flip swampland IRL.
good luck then, ill be swimming in gold while you’re just scraping by.
and btw, i bought my bone pick with real money, it costs me zero gold.
if, by chance, you’re trying to defend this with the notion of “ill buy it with gold→gem exchange” you’re not really showing your support, more your greed.
i am in far siverpeak and found it’s the LS that pulls everyone away, Anet is to bland to think in a general sense and instead makes all LS stuff in one area, not really living is it….
when all the LS rushers have calmed down they will spread out more, it always happens that after 2 weeks the community there go’s there own way.
everything that makes GW so good is nowhere to be found in GW2, nothing.
also, nothing about this world makes me want to RP anytime soon, it’s so disconnected that it feels like i am playing a rushed game rather then adventuring trough a lustful world.
really, after more then a year it still feels like it’s in beta, nothing excites me at all nor is there really much to get excited for.
the LS is filled with plain grind, the PS is way to “grind more levels”, renown hearts are a poor excuse for quest replacers and the battle system is so out of place it makes me wonder what 3 year old made this.
i have put allot of time, energy and money in the original GW and it’s worth every penny, the only thing i like about the CE of GW2 is the statue, the game just isn’t worth much.
Again … if you are getting this pick just because you want to sell sprockets, you haven’t done a cost benefit assessment of the pick. To borrow from another thread:

oh wow, but speed runs in dungeons, QD trains and fractures are a benefit to you?……
also, you probably already did far more swings then the thousands of swings you claim we need to make, you get there faster then you think.
I would accept mounts if:
1. Every time you mount you have to pay certain fee depending on your character level in order to summon your mount. Fee can also vary on the type/rarity of the mount.
2. Mounts can be used on the ground only. They cannot jump higher or further. Speed is 25% more then normal. Entering combat is instant dismount. You cannot mount while in combat.
3. There is 1 min debuff after dismounting that prevents you to use any waypoint. You cannot use waypoints while mounted.
4. Mounts can be used outside cities only. What do you think about these rules?
2 and 4, yes
1 and 3, no way
No the were not advertised as BiS. They were advertised as infinite and able to mine all ores.
“last pick you will ever need” were the words used or something very close to it (do correct me if i am wrong; my memory isn’t the greatest)
I have a molten pick (8 of em). I need it to get me some sprockets. Is it possible for a mining pick to get you sprockets? Yes. Is my pick capable of doing that? No. Do I need a different mining pick for it to be possible? Yes. Hmm…It is the last pick you will ever need because the purpose of the pick is to get ore and it does that. If you did the cost benefit analysis, you would realize that 1K gems would buy you thousands of sprockets … if you are buying the pick for sprockets because you NEED them, you haven’t put that much thought into it in terms of time or cost.
and you can get unlimited sprockets with the pick, way more then your 1000……
You didn’t really get the point … if the argument is if you NEED sprockets and that makes the pick OPed, the argument is nonsense because you don’t need unlimited numbers of them months from now. If you NEED them, it’s because you need them now and you only need enough to make a finite amount of gear.
… therefore if you are buying a pick because you need sprockets, you haven’t put that much thought into it in terms of time or cost.
i do need them, they sell really good…..
ok, let’s save the “think inside the box” mojo here, it’s getting frustratingly linear here.
how to stop DPS everything?
simple, make conditions be required to take down champion/LS/legendary enemies and not just the spamable ones.
let’s make a boss, this boss is protected by a shield.
there are 3 nodes that make this shield, however, just doing damage isn’t gonna work at all.
they all have a way to counteract the DPS prevention:
- node ones has it’s own personal shield that can only be taken down with fear on it.
- node two can only have damage when it bleeds.
- node three is so powerful that only vulnerability can damage it.
every time the nodes are down the boss can be taken down 1/4 health, after that the nodes are back and you have to do the same thing.
so what did i change, i made a"kill with DPS" situation in to “you do thing and you do that, let’s work together” situation.

this is how it should be, replacing a skin is on of the worst idea since the existence of soul bound.
Except the gods, minus kormir, are not FROM Tyria. So again, this theory has been discussed, and debunked, many times. Sadly the forum search feature doesn’t work properly, so please refer to the link posted above.
tyria is the name of the world, even canthan characters are from tyria.
Here’s an idea. Do something involving healing. Keep an npc healed while it’s being attacked.
How about a running event? One of the wurms sorta has that with the kegs, but I’m thinking bigger scale. One where you have to not only use speed boosts for yourself but slow down enemies with snares. One where you could hypothetically dps the bad guys down but where it’s more efficient to simply slow them down.
LF prot guardian…..
Open world events. No LF anything.
it still adds yet another thing that makes guardian important, i rather see something that makes the underrated professions more important.
Are you saying that no other profession has snares or healing abilities?
no, are you saying the majority of the players are smart enough to know that?
You want to not put something in because you think people are too stupid to handle it?
no, i want something in that adds play time for other professions, guardians are used way to much as an argument stopper but taking a necro or mesmer makes ppl nervous.
i rather see the game evolve in something everyone can enjoy, not just a handful. And the example I had is perfectly doable with any profession.
what is “doable” in your mind is “only guardian” in max gear player’s mind, i would love less discrimination but this is sadly the way they role…..
You don’t need to ask for anything in an open world event. What part of that don’t you understand?
actually, i understand it 100%, it’s you who doesn’t understand my standpoint.
you have no point. Snaring and healing can be done by ANY class and there is no need for anyone to ask for any class since it’s OPEN WORLD. You have NO point.
i have, you just don’t see it.

stop trying to make gw2 into every other mmo
if you want mounts, go play wow
but i can’t stand WoW and would like it in a game i enjoy without paying a monthly fee, so GW2.
you could also see it this way, every god has a mortal form and the dragons are the version of theirs.
could also be some kind of condition, a god (in GW lore) needs to shed his/her evil side, the dragons are their evil side in the mortal world.

My issue with taunt is that it kills any illusion the enemy is intelligent at all.
I’ll keep banging way on this guy, even though he’s not taking damage, and even though I’m a super intelligent demon from the abyss, I have no idea healers exist or someone is keeping him alive.
It’s just too contrived for my taste.
I always have to laugh when people in a trinity game say they want a better Monster AI since i know that they don’t really want that because any AI would kill the trinity.
If a monster is intelligent it would ignore the low damage tank, and first kill maybe the healer or the squishy DDs.In GW 1 monsters often went for the healer or minion master first. I loved that.
oh?
i have bin playing a MM for about a year now and they don’t even want to attack me, it’s ether the healer or the mesmer. (not that they can get close, it’s called a meat shield for a reason)
uhmm, i really don’t care about the lore part, it’s still breaks immersion.
what’s more immersive:
- teleport everywhere in a magical way
- ride to your destination on a mount
ill go for the mount any day.
For something to break immersion it would have to not fit into the world. And thus would have to in some way or form, break lore. Which WPs don’t do.
i play skyrim with the most lore breaking armors you can think of yet i don’t quick travel, it’s about immersing in the world and waypoints are the exact opposite.
Waypoints are part of the Guildwars lore. Fast travel is also not immersion breaking in Skyrim, you just skip the travel part but the world doesnt freeze and wait for you.
But you know what is immersion breaking? Some horse that can apparently maintain a fast gallop or sprint 24/7 all day, every day, up steep slopes and whatnot. Ooooh no, you want immersion you get it.
A mount that moves at walking speed, the way mounts are used.oh, so we’re using RL as an argument, nice way to win an argument about a game…..-_-
ok, so if we use your logic here, we should have to put our character to sleep or (s)he will wear down and faint, we need to eat every 2 hours or our characters loses health, DE’s are a one time deal since the same thing doesn’t happen every 30 minutes.way to not get the point buddy……..
You were the one getting anal about the realism of travel, not me. Sorry i took your example to a place you didnt want it to go.
yah, i really talking about realism…/sarcasm

GW2 isn’t about drop guys. Its about gold that you accumulate to buy what you want and frankly that’s a way better system than the usual MMORPG.
in the meantime, it’s still more based on high end gear, just like any other MMORPG out there…..

What about those who already paid 1000 gems for the Bone Pick or the Molten Pick back when they first became account bound?
No one ever paid 1000 gems for the molten pick.
but some did for the bone pick, still relevant.
disagree greatly, the time you played can just as much be 30% AFK.
also, someone that doesn’t have 5+ hours to play a game should never ever have something out of reach, time played doesn’t earn anyone a reward and never should.
i would like an achievement that rewards achieving something, killing X of X is not my idea of an achievement…..
tanks where good till MM’s became better, from there on having no MM was seen as a death sentence. (don’t ask me why, i did great without both of them)

You are aware that WPs are actually in-lore, right? So they shouldn’t really break immersion at all.
Mounts on the other hand isn’t really used by most of the races, so that might very well be immersion-breaking.

i don’t really want mounts to have an advantage, throw me of my mount if i get attacked for all i care.
i want it to add immersion, to have a way to travel trough the game in a slightly faster but non-game breaking way.
waypoints are immersion breaking things that ruins the RP part for plenty of ppl, why do you think there are so many ppl who play skyrim that never ever use quick travel?
not because of some challenge, it’s the immersion that’s ruined and they rather travel on a horse to get somewhere faster.
i’m not asking for a 150%+ speed mount, i am asking for a 30%+ mount that i can use in the open world part of the game.
i detest waypoints because they are both immersion breaking and cost coin to get somewhere, they are a way to go somewhere super fast not something to use as a primary way to travel.
i’m more interested in why they never added physX, it would’ve added so much joy with clothing but no, they had to manually animate all the skirts and coats making the animation poor at best.
and that’s why we have zergs, there is nothing else to do for max level players so all they can do is the first thing they can come up with, chasing a group of farmers.
i would love to see a game where DE’s are less scripted and more dynamic, a world that is put together in such a way that players can immerse them selves.
if anything, if they made GW2 less what it is now and more a mix of GW and skyrim you would have a more social game, an actual dynamic world with the things we love about GW.
they should make a different inventory tab that stores any and all event stuff, might also be a good way to make all DE items be stored there.
or only allow ground mounts that are only allowed in the open world and disabled in all instances and JP’s…..
“zerging is a good way to enjoy an RPG”
i don’t mind there existence, i mind how players see them.
they are pretty much seen as a stamp on how good you are at using your profession, a flawed way to say the least but a way nonetheless.
we need some way to make AP’s less important
I’m going to quote you here (even though you said not to :P):
there is a need and there is a want, AP is nothing more then a want and it doesn’t need to chance, you want it to change.
You’re right that most of us don’t really, really need it, but it would improve the system for us significantly, it’s just like all these QoL changes people suggest all the time. Sometimes, a little QoL change can do a lot for the enjoyment of a game.
they need allot of QoL updates, changing how achievements work in general is only the tip of a huge mountain of problems.
zerging is one, no immersion is another.
i would like to have more gems when i pay with real money, the exchange rate only gives you a loss anyway (when changing it to gold) so it will only make buying gems with RL money more attractive.
also, P2W only exists when you have an advantage over someone else, does a skin give you an unfair advantage?
no, it’s just something you want, an inconvenience, not P2W.I had this plan in the beginning as well. Getting more gems for your 25 euro. That seems a pretty simple thing but to change all the gem cards in the ‘whole’ world is i think a bit harder.
it’s actually dead simple, all Anet need to add is a script code that adds X more gems when you register with a gem card.
they can eventually release cards that states the bonus gems, that only takes a bit of photoshopping. And isnt just this ( gold to gems depens on people that buy gems with money) that shows that less and less people buy gems with money and more and more buy it with gold. For me the 8 gold per 100 gold is too mutch to handle. And that is to bad since i would really want to buy those skins. Other thing is that they overprice everyting as well. Like its a standard everything is 800 gems but yea…. So why not do something simple thats doesnt hurt anyone ( right?) Its not that they will sell legandaries for 80 euro or something…
maybe an alternative, the exchange still has normal gems but you can buy gold gems with real money.
so what happens now, everything you want to buy in the gem store is cheaper with gold gems.
so an item that is normally 800 gems is now about 500 gold gems (you could also call it platinum), so now the in-game rich ppl can stay around for free all they want while paying the full price while the actual supporters get more out of it, a win win all the way.Its still basically just asking for lowering gem prices. Why would Anet do that?
not really, the gem prices will just be lower for ppl who actually spend money on gems, how it currently is doesn’t benefit Anet in the slightest, the new way does.
better yet, they can make high popular items on a higher price while keeping the gold gem price the same, this makes exchanging gold->gem less popular and the RL money->gem allot more popular.
more money->support for Anet->more stuff->profitYou are constantly ignoring the fact that every gem in the game is paid for with real money (bar the initial gems put into the exchange before release).
It is actually beneficial for the game (and Anet), if people buy gems with gold:
If you buy 800 gems with money and spend it in the gem store, thats 10 bucks in Anets pocket.
But if you buy 800 gems with money, then trade it with me for my gold and i spend the gems in the store, its still 10 bucks in ANets pocket, plus they sunk some gold out of the economy, which keeps inflation in check.whether you or me using gold to buy gems, it’s not giving any money, that’s a free service.
regardless on how you do it, it benefits Anet only when you pay real money, buying gems with gold is nothing more then a loss on Anet’s part.
also, inflation in a game is nothing more then something what players make out of it, if someone is buying allot of items that (s)he exchanged with money->gem->gold then (s)he can damage your inflation just as much, no amount of inflation damages Anet, only the TP trippers.you want Anet to benefit from the gem store, this is a solution.
be my guess and think of a better one, till now the exchange is hurting Anet allot more and champ trains are part of the cause.
more ways to farm gold->less money in Anet’s bank->less chance Anet benefits->loss in profit.OK, i gonna stop arguing with someone, who fails to understand the basic concept of the gem exchange.
or it’s your own inability to understand the other side of a story, more likely a comprehension problem then anything.
ESO is a nice game but the P2P wall is always a sign it’s best to wait it out, MMO’s are always plagued with release bugs and patches so let’s first wait and see, you might even see the game go freemuim.
