So you mean a challenge mode where you just clear a large group of mobs? Would there be a time limit or greater reward for a faster clear time? Its an interesting idea but you should expand on it a bit because what you’ve posted is very brief.
So many unrealistic suggestions.
Bhawbs suggestions are good and possible though.
Ive mentioned it before but I would love to see orders/auras aswell. They would be a unique buff like ranger spirits but radiating from the necro and on a cooldown with a long duration and 600 radius? They should give decent uptime depending on the effect. They should in my eyes be something you can sustain with a 80-90% uptime or be low enough cooldown so they can be used whenever they are needed. Basically long durations with a similar cooldown or make duration and cooldown match but balance them so thakittens either risky to have them active all the time or they arent that strong when always up. I want something that can be useful throughout a dungeon and which benefits my team and makes people actually want to take a necro for these buffs.
Id recommend getting some beserker gear so you can speedrun to get those tokens to get some soldier gear more quickly. Then realise soldier gear is not worth it and use those tokens for something else.
You cant tell us not to curse it. We are free to curse whatever we want. People who take offense or are bothered by what others say or think really make me laugh.
But all dungeons are mainstream now, except hotw. Does that mean we have to all go keen at sponge of the waves?
LH is sustained dps. You dont ever have downtime on it unless you give the mesmer a LH. Fiery GS is burst.
Fiery rush + LF hits 68 times. Dont think anything can compare to that.
How often can you hit a backstab in perfect conditions? I dont play thief so I dont know. But from what ive seen its not constant.

You not seen fiery rush + lightning flash? Broken burst. But the sustained dps with LH is ridiculous aswell + it stacks might when done in a fire field.
LH ele has monster sustained dps. Backstab thief is situational.

The highest dps class in pve is a LH ele (thats 0 points in arcane). Using life blast or deathly perception is not how you reach maximum dps on a necro.
Probably because the mods fear Baphomets wrath.
I had nearly 1,000 sword kills before playing a class that can equip swords. I think I found some correlation with necro minions.
Pretty sure DS or wells count as sword. Thats the only explanation for how i got sword complete b4 anything else.
I fear for your soul if you dont praise Baphomet.
Mr bigshot dungeon master coming in here thinking we care. Honestly stop bringing it up on the forums. Its pointless. Some people are kittens, it happens, its a risk when you pug. Just report them and move on.
If I came up to you and said, "Why don’t you believe I can fly?” You’d say, “Why would I?” I’d reply, “Because it’s a matter of faith.”
If I then said, “Prove I can’t fly. Prove I can’t fly see, see, you can’t prove it can you?”
You’d probably either walk away, call security or throw me out of the window and shout, ‘’F—ing fly then you lunatic.”-Ricky Gervais.
Brilliant!
GC thief has like 10k hp. Lifeblast can crit for over 5k easily.
Its not that far below the other classes. Necro damage in a fully optimized group is on par with other classes. But its not good enough to take one over a class which provides something useful.
Im guessing you came up with 30% less with terrible builds in your calculations. Necro actually has a very high amount of dps compared to other classes when unbuffed. But obviously thats not ideal (its the lack of damage modifiers which makes it start off so well then scale badly as more buffs are introduced).

Weakening shroud still has long duration.
I sense foul play.
Stop trolling. Neither side can win that arguement. Get out of the thread.
Would love dungeons to have a dedicated team again. Just hope they avoid timegating stuff because that really does annoy me.
The point is that they might be much better now but they are still unreliable. Just like all ai pets and minions.
Thinking you need survivability stats in PvE is laughable.
I consider WW like an energy sigil so I dont use 1 on the gs. Have one on my offhand sword though.
Dont worry about cancelling 100b too much. The final hit does hit harder but it also takes longer to hit so its the same dps wise. You only want to use axe 2 and mace 4 when you need vuln. I rarely used them while i was leveling as vuln isnt that important at low levels and in open world. Save eviscerate for when the enemy is about to die.
While i was leveling my warrior i pretty much only used axe / mace because it gave me mobility. But having gs kills things so fast. Just make sure you buy level appropriate weapons/armour every 10 levels and you should melt things with no real difficulty. And you should get the hang of the playstyle pretty fast. Also remember to not interrupt the axe auto until it hits with the final strike!
Signet of illusions is a waste of a utility slot. And like weve already said getting stuck in staff is a really bad idea.
I would just try it on your current build tbh. Doesnt change the fact being locked into staff is a bad idea. And the iWarlock is most likely gonna die after 1 attack anyway. So pointless having a staff in most situations.
And here I was hoping for an actually useful stat combo like power precision condi damage or condi damage power precision (better versions of rampager).
Basically what these intelligent fellows said.
Get into good habits early on and learn the hard way with full zerker gear. Will make you a much better player in the long run and as colesy said ranging is something that is only done when you absolutely have to. You may have to range encounters that decent groups would always melee if you are pugging, but sometimes its safe to melee while the rest of the group ranges. Depends on the situation.
Blasphemy. All hail Baphomet!
Play better and get zerk gear and you will avoid being kicked as often. Also dont talk crap or use a staff.
Happy?
Longbow is better due to the higher sustained damage. Rifle only has killshot going for it. Longbow has arcing arrow and a better auto attack.
^
Watch out you might get an infraction for saying that aswell dub.
When leveling going for power is always a safe bet. So wells and the spite line should be good choices. Dont worry about builds too much until you reach 80 though. Just try things out and have fun with the class.
Theres no discussion to be had though. You just posted to vent your frustration i presume.
GS and axe mace. Take a longbow for when you need to range or create a fire field. Should really have all weapons though for pve. sword warhorn and gs are good for running and offhand sword is good for encounters where you need blocks (melee lupi).
Yes this is a game. So why are you so against people playing how they want to?
Edit: Its weird saying that. Usually the people disagreeing with us are the ones who say “I play how i want”. ;D
It is. Unfortunately it lacks reliable low cooldown condi removal.
Basically what colesy said.
What are you talking about. The last few posts have just left me feeling lost.
No i did mean you just treat it like axe. Dont interrupt the auto chain.
we don t need a hard mode.
We need PvE profession balance
You ll istantly see people stop complaining dungeon are easy….
Yeah, professions are so unbalanced that most of the dungeon guilds are now running all of them.
Stop living 5 months ago when we indeed thought G/3W/M was the be-all and end-all of dungeons. We’ve long gone past that phase, and pretty much any profession can sort of match itself with Warrior, except ele, which actually surpasses it.
The only really bad one imo is Necromancer, because of the terrible cleave damage, and Mesmer because of the bad DPS, it’s just nice for the reflects.
balance necro pls
So i assume they have different values for toughness then. Because some minions are definately squishier than others.
Fair enough. Just treat it like warrior axe and necro dagger then.
Staff blast and combo only triggers when the mark gets triggered by a mob. Means buffing before a fight is impossible.
My sword 3 hits harder than gs 2? People really sure about it being less than sword auto?
Wouldnt recommend minions for dungeons. Zerker is always best for dungeons though.
Also other classes will be applying low damage short duration bleeds through traits which will constantly prevent the necro from apply 25 stacks of decent damaging bleeds.
Actually, it’s been proven time and again that condition stacks with higher damage take priority over lower damage condition stacks. (either way someone losses out on DPS though)
No they dont. The first bleeds are always knocked off. This happens with might and everything else in the game. Dont see why it would be different for one condition.
If this was the case I would never see any bleed ticks on a world boss but I do for a short duration because ive just overwritten someone elses bleeds.
Not to start a rant, you are entitled to your own play style but you kind of made my point here. Sorry if your not running CoF but your still running full Zerker “speed” run style.
In a dungeon with any skill requirement the boss fights (and trash pulls) will not be over in <60 sec and a condition build will be on par DPS wise with most classes, certainly doing more DPS than a dagger melee Necro. In the end you may “feel” like you are doing more damage because you see big numbers (and that is fun no arguments there) but over a whole fight conditions will add up to more total damage if done right. Even with cleanse mechanics, you cant melee 100% of the time because most bosses have movement phases. Thats kind of like a melee cleanse.
Oh and conditions do benefit from Might and the application of conditions benefit from Quickness, the only thing they dont benefit from is Vuln . I would welcome that change for sure. Also the bleed stack is not a real issue in the right team comps Im not suggesting a full condition group.
Anyhow sorry for the text wall, I mean well. Just sick of the Zerker or nuthin fotm noobs. (ANET make some real content that cant be facerolled)
Ok i dont speedrun, my guild just runs efficiently with dps builds because we dont need the safety of tanky gear. Were pretty laid back but we know how to do things fast. We dont want to spend hours in dungeons when we can go through pretty much the whole set in a couple of hours. Even when we get pugs to fill out slots most bosses die in under 60 seconds, trash dies within a few seconds the same can be said about some bosses aswell.
I ran TA the other day and we had a condi necro pug. Dps wasnt noticeably worse than if he was taking another zerker build but stuff died too fast for his conditions to really be fully effective. We took him into coe aswell because he was a competent pug despite his less than perfect build. CoE has some real anti condi fights so he wouldnt of been contributing to dps for most of that dungeon, didnt matter because we had 2 eles with LH/fiery GS so dps was very good. Its a case of yeah its fine sometimes but other times your just completely carrying the condi player. This is why if someone really wants to play a condi necro i direct them to hybrid builds.
Its not an issue of feeling like i do more damage because of “big numbers”. Its been proven that every class has a maximum dps build and they all involve beserker gear. Conditions just arent in the same league for pve. Id love them to be but its not the case at the moment.
The only way a condition build comes close to a beserker build is if you can maintain 25 stacks of bleed. Which is impossible for two reasons. You would need to stack the hell out of duration to do it properly and it just never happens consistanly with one condi necro in a dungeon. Also other classes will be applying low damage short duration bleeds through traits which will constantly prevent the necro from apply 25 stacks of decent damaging bleeds.
Why would you want to make DS our primary dps source. Its a terrible idea. You would just pigeon hole everyone into the boring spam lifeblast build.
No its not the case anymore. Not sure when they changed it but it definately takes condition damage now and has done for several months.
