I have to say the score seems fairly lopsided but I’ve been havin a blast in the Gate of Madness borderland. A lotta fantastic fights (you win some, you lose some) and the pressure is always on with never a dull moment =)
Hope the other servers’ tourists to our homeland feel the same!
i dont think so but is it a fair match?
That not too bad you must know getting 2ed is not a lost and to simply not to get first in a week is not a lost (often you still rank up even if your in 3ed).
Try to enjoy wvw that is more on the lines of a true win or a lost if you do not enjoy it then you lost if you do then you won.
Btw what dose DE mean?
DE stands for deutsch. Kodash is a German server.
It’s not leagues or bloodlust. Most of the reasons I hear are that it’s just not very fun because there’s less people to fight against and/or with. The transfers aren’t helping (especially these last series, which came from some of the lowest population servers). I get the impression that Gate of Madness, Devona’s Rest, and Anvil Rock now have less people than Eredon Terrace and Ferguson’s Crossing ever did.
And it’s not over. We had at least 2 guilds transfer last week (one of them our biggest, who just spent over a month recruitin in just about every zone for WvW). That gets people grumblin and I’m sure more transfers will follow. Hell, this weekend we had people in Gate of Madness Lion’s Arch recruiting for Blackgate telling them it’s more fun there. How kittened up is that?
Right now all the incentives are to move to a higher tier server and play on the lower tier servers is getting worse every week. <—This is the problem.
This issue isn’t going to go away. We’ve waited over a year and it’s not fixing itself, it’s only getting worse. Many more move to higher tiers than lower tiers and almost no one moves to lower tiers because there’s very few guilds here to play with. And there’s getting less guilds every week.
Nothing has been addressed here. The gem costs are bullkitten because I’m on one of the most expensive servers but one of the lowest ranked and that’s the only mechanism they had to create an incentive to move to my server.
Honestly, I feel like my time hasn’t been valued by ArenaNet who hasn’t stopped to address this at all in the 13 months I’ve been playing WvW.
They play in upper tiers because they want to feel like they’re winning. Some people actually enjoy the huge zerg fighting. 30-40 is a healthy number imo.
Actually lots love upper tiers because there is constant action 24/7. Can you say the same for your tier when you log on at 3am during the middle of a week?
Yes, there are in fact people outside tier 1.
Isle of Janthir is absolutely stacked in silver league. They only lose to Stormbluff Isle and some of the other servers they beat with more score than other servers combined. I don’t think they need more transfers unless those transfers enjoy autowin matches.
Maybe bias but the bottom servers are best for you, I’d say. With a small population of defenders, it’s pretty easy to have someone to fight in the borderland or Eternal Battleground.
I’d suggest instead of talking about why someone shoudn’t join x server you should talk about why someone would join your server.
IoJ grew due to people’s effort in recruiting and the attractiveness of being in a server with such great friendly players. The enviroment here on map chat and teamspeak is fun whenever im online.
I’m not looking to argue, I’m trying to encourage other servers that are lacking coverage and a really wanting to step it up, to do something similiar.
Cheers
I think I will let my points stand on their own without steering into another topic.
Well, Isle of Janthir is stacked in silver league so you might get to win a lot =P
I’m pretty meh about it. There isn’t much good points about it for my server.

Okay guys so check it. Here’s the plan. Y’all’s know I gots a lot of respect for all of you staying on low pop servers and all, but there are gonna be these things and people will be transferring and bandwagoning and zerging a lot.
So I gets this idea while eating waffles. Why don’t we just do it before they do! It make total sense now!
You see, if we screw it up first, we win first, amirite?
I’d like to sign up for an idea that involves everyone else getting waffles too.
So, where’s this stream “maybe” being held at? Seems I may wish to gate-crash, with a certain Science-Thieving Asura.
The stream may or may not take place on one of the borderland maps, or even possibly in EB.
:D
Possibly he asked for this http://www.twitch.tv/teambattleaxe =)
You know? I honestly believed that next weeks’ update was going to be called Bloodlust in the Borderlands. We knew of 2 things coming in the next patch, a revamp of pre-existing PvE content, and the biggest update to WvW since… ever. I naively thought this would be THE WvW update.
Instead, Tequatl gets all the ink, figuratively speaking. One more sign that ANet’s crowd aren’t us.
The update page has 4 bullet points
- LFG Tool – admittedly more PvE focused, but still applicable to WvW, somewhat. Still this is 1 for PvE
- Ruins of Power in WvW – The first real, meaningful change to WvW that wasn’t just a fix.
- Bosses Updated – Tequatl et al. PvE all the way.
- Flame Ram Mastery – Not the most exciting, but still, it’s a WvW update.
So in short, it’s a 50/50 split on updates to PvE vs WvW (really sorry, PvP folks!), and STILL rehashed PvE content is a better message to market than NEW WvW.
We know WvWers are in the minority. ANet knows WvWers are in the minority. Now we know ANet knows.
disclaimer: I know not everyone is thrilled about the implications of the map change. That is not what this thread is about.
I think you may be fishing for things to be depressed about as concerning WvW. What they title their patches is hardly somethin to lose sleep over =) (other things though…)
And to the guy above, conquest mode WvW is great fun for lots of us. Fun is subjective!
Just a head’s up:
There may or may not be a GoM WvW livestream tonight around 8pm CST, and it may or may not have a delay because Mr. Mooby may or may not be a stream-sniping jerk. :P
See ya there! (maybe)
I vote no delay!

Wait when did RH transfer and was it to SBI?
Still on Gate of Madness =)
Awe you miss us Styx
I miss ya guys too
Sometimes it feels pretty lopsided on Gate of Madness but it’s a lot more lopsided in the top tiers (just check the scores on millenium) and it’ll only get worse once the leagues start regularly pairing up the top 3 servers with the other 9 below them.
If you just want zergier, you can get that but I wouldn’t expect the match ups to be any more fun.

Honestly, maybe boring everyone in tier 1 with matches against tiers 2-5 will finally get them to transfer off there. It seems like they’re in some never ending stupid arms race with each other for population and I do feel like it’s been at the expense of the other servers.
While there have been no shortage of individuals who have left T1, I can only think of 4 guilds in the last 7 months who have left the current top 3 for lower servers. 2 of those went only as far as T2; and only FoE and AGG (FoE is no longer around and essentially merged with AGG) went to any beneath T2.
Haha. I get still a warm feeling when people remember FoE, but while FoE is no longer we did not merge with Agg. There are only a few of us that still play and those that do are actually spread amongst all the servers of the game now, almost like a Where’s Waldo? of FoE members
I will say though: the mentality of guilds in T1-2 is DRASTICALLY different than those in T6-8. This is why you don’t see such moves like FoE & Agg did anymore. I could bore you with what happened after we move and the subsequent weeks but I won’t. The bottom line is that WvW is more of an afterthought the further you go down in Tiers and for many guilds in T1 they are ‘bred’ to think and act a certain way.
If you look at FoE and Agg, where are they now? Agg went BACK to T1 (twice?) and FoE moved to SoS and a small group to JQ afterwards before we stopped playing on a large scale. Guilds create their identity and mentality to strive for certain goals, most of those are only achievable when surrounded by like-minded guilds, this is why guilds that leave T1 often return or swap between T1 and T2.
My 2 pennies
I image the sort of things a guild with 20 people on the field does in T1 and T8 are quite different. I didn’t see much of FoE but Agg seemed like they only had the one speed.
There are Anet Devs in SBI, I’m sure they are taking notice in the current matchup and how strong SBI has become. Don’t be surprised if SBI ended up in T3 on Friday reset.
… what? You can’t seriously believe that. Do you even play this game?
This week #14 KN is facing #6 Dragonbrand.
I think SBI could provide a good fight in T3 but I think they are entering the range of possible matches that will result in painful matches as well.
Yeah, that’s reasonable. A few weeks ago I also was in a match that had a 8 rank difference too.
What I think is ridiculous is the implication he made though that was that because his server had ArenaNet employees (heck, is there a server that doesn’t?) they would somehow intervene (because they’re all clearly in charge of WvW?) and try to prevent a match so terrible that #1 is leading #2 by 60k points.

Doing so would invalidate the time people spend acquiring that gear. I think the heart of your post is in the right place, but what we would rather do is make possible for people to get the gear by playing WvW with a sprinkling of PvE, rather than the other way around.
You know waht would make us believe this?
Actualy doing something that indicates you´re on your way to that.Right now it´s just a ridiculous notion that anyone would wvw to get anything. Any amount of time spend in wvw increases the time you need to get anything you want. 1 night of pve will give you far more rewards than week of wvw will do.
I too am looking forward to this.
http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/c/2883855
At 23:07 – Hugh Norfolk told us why you don’t get personal rewards with the new borderlands ruin caps.Quick Transcript:
Do I get any karma or gold or anything, any world v world score from these things? Do I get any experience? No. This, the sole purpose is this orb buff. It’s so good, so important… we didn’t want to give anyone… you know, cause these things are going to be right out in the open. They are going to be easy to take. Easy to lose if you don’t watch them… ? for a short amount of time.
We didn’t want to give people rewards for these because then you see people start capping and decapping for like world v world experience or anything like this. This is for the sole purpose of this buff… it’s that good, it’s that strong, we feel like the reward is enough for your entire server getting this buff, we feel like it is good enough for that.
Earlier in the livestream he said this about a golem he summoned to capture one of these points for him:
He’s going to cap that for me… you know, he’s going to be the stalwart defender that’ll defend this point with his life.Let’s examine the basic philosophy of reward in-play here.
1. Stalwart Defenders get screwed: These new points are so easy to lose that you will need constant vigilance to keep them, and they are so important that you need to keep them. Vigilant tasks usually require missing out on gold, karma, loot, wxp, skill points, and ascended mats. Whether defending the Bloodlust Buff, trebbing the keep, escorting the dolyak, repairing the wall, upgrading the structures, or scouting enemy forces… you are really helping your server in a such a meaningful way that you can’t also get meaningful personal rewards because that would be too much. Doing good for your server is its own reward.
2. Giving out personal rewards for flipping things encourages people to flip them: If they handed out xp, gold, karma, wxp, skill points, and ascended mats at the new borderlands ruins then people would be incentivized to lose the points and recapture them which is crazy (but is absolutely fine for other objectives). By giving you no material wealth it stresses just how super important it is, and encourages you to defend it with your life for no pay.
3. Solo/small groups had too many options for earning wxp: The krait nodes and temple of storms were wxp earning events that could be done solo or with a small group. Those 12 events (4 per map) have been removed and replaced with non-wxp earning activities. When your server was completely outmanned and everything was the wrong color, and everyone on your server had given up, you could still flip krait by yourself, and cause lightning that would damage enemy siege… but not anymore. Maybe you should join a larger group ‘hint-’hint.
I’m okay with losing the nodes and Temple of Storms. I’m a lil’ influenced by somethin that happened on Teamspeak a couple days ago. We were at the NW camp when the conversation went like this:
Scout: “They’re at the inner gate on Bay!”
Commander: “Quick! Everyone to the inner gate in Bay!”
Random player: “Can we stop and kill the worm?”
For what I’d call balance, I expect the best gear to be fairly easy to access so that you can get into the game fast instead of playing gear progression. And match making to be such that there’s variety in who you fight but with only a minimal chance of having a match where one side completely dominates (basically everyone should end up with at least 100k points in an ideal situation).
WvW is four big maps with hundreds of people. Sometimes 5 people find 1 roamer and just destroy that person. Sometimes 50 roll over 10. It should even out though in a fair match up. Sometimes they have 50 and you have 10 and vice versa. Or your 50 are elsewhere taking somethin else. Basically I expect things to balance out long term in a match, I don’t worry about any one fight. There shouldn’t be classes that are just awful at like most things (like perhaps rangers are right now.. they have a really hard time surviving things).
Why so scared nublet?
This is why ppl call SE trash… We met at Sentry, he doesn’t even bother to attempt to kill me, nope runs in using block skill even though I didn’t attack and starts building a ballista.. GG coward.
Did he save the camp?
Yeah well he did for the moment, I just took another one while he built his little ballista.. Then came back and took that one..
Well, maybe this’ll learn him. I know it’s hard being in XOXO, no one is good enough for you guys =(
When a team gets the Outnumbered buff, they should also get 5 supply coming out of the spawn. Otherwise – what? – raid the reinforced enemy keep with no siege and no ability to build or repair?
We went through this on Darkhaven last night. When we weren’t bottlenecked into our spawn, we were tapping on the reinforced doors with no siege… until we got pushed back to spawn, that is.
Siegerazer will supply you up at spawn.
Maybe there is no point to gimping your build by goin all in on one stat.

People leavin lower tiers because not enough people. If people left higher tiers ’cause too many people, things might turn out alright.
I’d want this. I wish there was no ascended in the first place, really. Gear stat progression is zero fun. When I am tryin to get better, I better myself, not add +1 to every entry in a database.
Agree, it does lead to weird incentives. The guy treb’in a tower for half an hour has to get off and run over the entire treb distance and hope the tower isn’t flipped by then, if you’re rushin a lord room it’s a disincentive to have someone scout the outer gates, with some zergs the champion drops before everyone can tag him, peole runnin interception on reinforcements won’t get any reward though they clearly might be a big reason why a keep gets taken etc etc etc.. the list goes on. Chests or event rewards might be good enough (it would hardly break the bank to give dragonite to everyone that gets gold credit on keep capture).
Edit: To the poster above, please no ascended off people. That’s ridiculous and just further big punishment for people in low ranked servers.

Thank you Christos for posting this Build.
In zergfight? it’s awesome…
solo? it’s awesome…
smallscale? it’s awesome…You only have to change few traits and it fits every situation!
And how often this build saved my whole group!
Greetings from Germany!
it really doesnt do enough damage for small scale and zerg fights. but then u can just play more of a support role for your friends with hammer/staff.
Hammer is especially great ’cause of the CC it provides letting your friends train on people.
I personally think folks are getting too bent out of shape about the league, the effect in game to me should be minimal. Coverage issues makes me not care about PPT before, why would any of that change in regards to league? I plan to go out and kill people every night just like I always do, league doesn’t change that. We already have messed up matches, so league wont change that. The whole ‘we wont be doing anything till league is over’ is an obvious cop-out and excuse to do more living story kitten instead of fixing WvW, but realistically I cant think of the last patch I cared about anyways.
Do I think it is stupid that ANET is creating a ‘the server with the best coverage and most people’ award, yes of course. A huge waste of resources that could be better spent on areas of WvW that would help everyone. Does it show that ANET has profound lack of understanding about WvW in general, yes of course. Overall though, I didnt care about PPT before and nothing has changed to make me care now.
I’m pretty sure even “going out every night just to kill” will be affected negatively as well. We’re talking about matchups that are not just imbalanced, but insanely imbalanced — on the order of 24/7 spawn camping imbalanced. And these matchups won’t be happening occasionally, but almost every week if you’re one of the low ranked servers for your league.
By the way, if you are on a low ranked server, prepare for a lot of running as you won’t have waypoints at any time, anywhere.
Actually, I think it’s not as much runnin as you suggest. If I recall correctly, fights like this you just fight over NW tower for a week, haha. After the first time we fought the new Kaineng I never wanted to see Sunnyhill again.
If your tired of a dead server go to SBI. GoM is dead / dieing
Having a lower population and being dead isn’t the same thing. =P
It’s funny. WvWvW has been the same for an entire year except for some new abilities. The same mechanics for the most part are the same. It got old after 3-4 months and TONS of players left the game completely. The forums here are riddled with people who don’t want any sort of change….. let’s face it… you won’t quit because of the following:
1. GW2 is hands down one of the best PVP/WvW games on the market right now. No other game offers this sort of combat/performance and balance.(sure it has its issues but every game does..)
2. It’s free. You will not see massive xsfers to servers… do you want to know why? cus its expensive. You may see a one Xsfer by some guilds, but that won’t last. It’s just too much gold/gems.
The League will eventually get to the point the game is already at.. the top servers on top fighting one another and the rest followed suit.
You people need to deal with the change or quit. But we all know your not quitting.Actually, that’s completely untrue. There have been massive changes in WvW since launch. Here are the main ones:
1) Removal of culling. Game-changer. WvW before and after were almost different games.
2) AC buff. Opening salvo in Anet’s self-induced Project Kill Your Own Game. Drastically lowered PvP competition in WvW and lead directly to the rise of GvG’s.
3) Randomized Matchup’s. Part II of Project Kill Your Own Game. Even further reduced competition. Began PPT’s descent into irrelevance. Cemented existence of GvG.
And in the near-future we have these changes coming:
4) WvW Leagues: Project Kill Your Own Game Part III. PPT will fade into obscurity and who you are actually fighting will cease to matter. WvW will become all about the GvG and open field fights.
5) Full Ascended Gear. Not necessarily Project Kill Your Own Game IV, as it may stabilize gear treadmill hampsters as the PvP population. But is a complete 180 on WvW as it was at launch. It is now full MMO gear grind PvP.
I just wanna disagree point 3. Randomized match ups were amazing. It breathed a lot of life into a lotta the tiers.
I have a proposal.
We will cease complaining about leagues: if, and only if, Devon Carver agrees to do a weekly video announcing the results.
We further stipulate that he must act and sound genuinely surprised when a higher ranked server beats a lower ranked one. He should also give a list of reasons why the matches the proceeding week are interesting and the outcome is in doubt.
I want him to go on record, explaining how Crystal Desert vs Fort Aspenwood vs Jade Quarry is a competitive match and how it is anyone’s game.
If he is willing to do this, aka do to himself what he’s doing to us (insulting intelligence); then we can admit that we are all in this together and will cease pestering them on these boards.
Everyone please +1 to give this visibility.
Honestly, maybe boring everyone in tier 1 with matches against tiers 2-5 will finally get them to transfer off there. It seems like they’re in some never ending stupid arms race with each other for population and I do feel like it’s been at the expense of the other servers.
I come from DH, we just xefered to IoJ. We dealed with stupid SBI numbers last week on DH and have to deal with them this week as well. That is where being tired comes from.
+600 was indeed ridicilous, but personally i didn’t get much to see from that last week as we just xfered. I just know for 2nd week now it is like in 300 movie all day.
My point is, if it wasn’t clear: you guys are so proud of yourself and tell other servers they should learn to wvw when all honestly only reason why you win is because of absurd numbers. Come down from your high horse, high tier servers with same numbers would faceroll over you.
As for emoting and hacking, i hope you realize people get discouraged alone by faceing such numbers, getting teabaged is not helping really. Eventually they don’t want to WvW anymore. Instead of destroying WvW community, you should be encouraging it :/
You shoulda transferred all the way to rank 1 if you wanted to be on a server that doesn’t face servers with much more people (though if you’re on the wrong time of the day, you can still get heavily outnumbered). Did you not expect this?
If you want to go where people are, Stormbluff Isle has more people than Gate of Madness in WvW.
Edit: Though is Stormbluff Isle ends up in the silver league, it’s probably going to be very boring for them is what I think.
(edited by styx.7294)
I am on this server but can’t find a guild to join up here yet.
I see all sorts of guilds runnin regularly in WvW on FC. Edge and WZ are ones that come to mind. Whoever the legendary hammer guardian WZ commander is, he’s pretty beastly with that hammer.
Hi guys.
Fixed the 2nd link (both links were the same).
PS: Take note that boon duration is capped at 100%, so the warrior banner and the vengeful trait are useless.
Does the trait ’’Vengeful’’(trait II of Virtues) stack with boon duration? And if yes, does it stack even if you have 100% boon duration?
The vengeful trait does not work if you have 100% boon duration. But it will stack up to 100% boon duration, additively (you cannot have more than 100% retaliation duration).
You’re giving up too much imo for just a tiny bit more boon duration. The standard 0/0/20/30/20 is much better imo. And celestial gear? Why? Your damage isn’t going to be much better (if at all) than cleric’s, with far less heal power.
I’m using Celestial to get more DPS and mainly precision to trigger both Vigorous Precision and EM. And considering that Celestial brings full crit dmg (equivalent to Zerker or Assassin – 2% more!) presion really helps.
Also that a look in the 2nd link (now fixed).
But I also felt a loss of dps with the winter jewels, compared to quartz ones that I have.
thats not 100% boon duration build, that is 40%+ magic find build!
hahah. There is no more MF on Celestial =P
The boon duration food gives 40% magic find.
I am feeling this. I haven’t done any temples yet but I did mine some stuff in Orr and do a Scarlet event with some guildies yesterday. Very miserable stuff.
Having all the PvE players gettin rich off champion farming and Living Story was alright when I was geared and didn’t have money but suddenly I’m not geared and having to buy items that are priced for people who are rich off PvE. If it was just craft one weapon, it’d be alright. But it’s not. Just for my guardian I need to craft just about every weapon, which includes raising artificer and weaponsmith to 500.
Maybe even that’d be easier to swallow, I mean, I don’t have much problem with having long term goals ‘cept there’s a whole armour set coming before the end of the year (which is less than 4 months away).
There’s no reason WvW shouldn’t have at least the same rewards as PvE. Hell, at this point, it should have greater. People been playing it for over a year and goin broke over it.
(edited by styx.7294)
Well this match is ENTIRELY different than it was 2 weeks ago. GoM lost some, AR gained some…. and this is the closest match I can remember having. It’s intense. I love it.
WvW is a pretty dynamic place, haha. I try to keep in mind when things look bad and even when things look good. A server outlook has to be long term because things change and people come and go.
Your unfair matchup isn’t everyone’s matchup.
Lovin the match up so far =) Had a great time stayin up late for reset for once!
This is the opposite of what WvW needs at the moment.
The most glaring problem with WvW is about half the worlds have low participation while the structure of the game rewards population.
This new change simply rewards the world with the largest population and which can keep all of their map slots filled, 24/7.
People who think this sounds like a good idea have never played, week after week against worlds 6 or more tiers above them, or played on a world that cannot keep it’s map slots full.
Where is the dialog? We get these faceless procalmations. We don’t even know who is responsible for this decision. Is it one person, two, a committee?
Games that have test servers populated with players, not devs or paid testers, avoid this kind of top down Dilbert style management stupid design changes.
This is one of the worst design decisions I have seen in a long time.
I get the impression that who ever is making the decisions about WvW, has never ever spent any time trying to play on world in the lower half of the tier ladder when they are matched with a world 6 or more tiers higher.
There aren’t many fights like that between servers anymore.
I’m open to the idea. It seems pretty easy to neutralize (havin people hold it is probably gonna be as hard as having people sit in a tower/keep waitin for things). Gives small persons somethin else to do and the stomp thing might put more emphasis on small persons fights too.
Hi GoM, we meet again, hoping you [RISE] guys are still around
And another rematch up against FC, will be interesting to see if GoM will come out on top of you :o
RISE is over on Stormbluff Isle.
Rob, do you sleep? I see you posting all hours!
Let me see.
Go to work. Play GW2. Shower. Eat. Go to work..Nope.
Its the nightcrew somewhere in the world.Go get some sleep, Rob. Those evil doors will return soon and we need our hero to be at full strength when that moment arrives. We’ll take care of fighting actual players for you.
You mean perma-stealth back stab players for him?
Sorry don’t mean to be mean, Just seems like the majority of roamers I have found this week were perma-stealth thieves. I’m sure you don’t main one personallyTaquito doesn’t run stealth. I don’t blame those who are doing the perma-stealth this week. Seems when I’m roaming, I run into a camp and within a few minutes I’m being overrun by one zerg or another.
Clearly Rob’s too busy to read signatures =)
I just hit 100 gold and thought I was rich =(
They could have easily made mats drop from players only, and made them not drop at all from PVE mobs.
Thus encouraging more pvp-oriented encounters in WvW, but they didn’t. So what does that tell you about your designers?
Although this may sound good but it will be unfair to lower tier server due to the low population will make it harder for them to get the mats.
Oh you mean like badges of honor? Oh wait….There is no issue getting those on lower tiers either.
Sure, we get ‘em but we don’t get as much as those in higher tiers.
Guardians aren’t in the worst spot ever, but they are definitely hurting.
I reckon we are probably in the bottom 3 classes if not the worst class atm. We used to be in the Top 3. The new changes that lead to massive conditions are a direct counter to us in PVP.
Necros, Warriors, Rangers, and Thieves are all much better than us in a 1v1 fight. Mesmers and Eles seem to be better too. There was a time I could front any of these classes 1v1 and kill them, player skill being the determinant.
I still play mine as I like the weapon skills and the look. But I admit its not very powerful. I feel have to work insanely hard to do reasonably. The gear never seems to match what I want to do or give me enough health. In SPVP I log in and do the daily and log out. It stopped being fun a while ago.
To the OP: Read the other thread. Roll a warrior. The class balance dev plays one and that is why it is so strong. There is nothing else to consider.
Necros, Warriors, Rangers, and Thieves are all much better than us in a 1v1 fight.

Buffs you and nearby allies.
Burns enemy and nearby foes.Guardian is a SUPPORT class, it is NOT meant for 1v1. The game is not balanced around 1v1, stop trying to balance the game around 1v1.
Support what? My buffs last like 5 seconds. 5 sec of support, 30 sec of Cd… I can hear the conversation now, “Boy am I glad the guardian was there to support me with a tiny 5 second buff that a simple condition already puts on me. I am really glad he is on my team.”
In pvp I encounter 1v1 fights all the time. The maps are designed around it. I think I should have a chance vs these classes. I used to be able to beat them before they got buffed. I used to be able to beat thieves too but I had to change my build to fight off conditions and now I can’t. The last balance patch really made this the worst class in the game.
Sure you can be the best at dishing out might. Whippy do.
5 seconds of group stability can be a game changer. You keep guardians in the front of any charge to get people through (and that stability stacks with other sources provided by other people). You can get a lot of boon duration too, I’m runnin about 95% right now, which is 1/3rd up time on stability for my 5 man. 1/3rd of the time we’re immune to knockdowns, pushes, pulls, dazes, stuns, what have you.
I look at it this way.
Some things the guardian does, no one else can do. That’s why there’s guardians in so many team builds (if not every team build). Gotta be somethin warriors can do too, so not sure why you want to build a warrior out of a guardian.
Also, is there a way to increase my movespeed? like, besides “retreat”
?
This is from a WvW perspective:
Staff is 100% swiftness with enough boon duration. Save yourselves with boon duration is good too. Sword has a teleport and greatsword has a leap that are 600.
The low cooldown on the warrior greatsword skills (there’s the spin and the charge) and the warrior sword leap is what gives them better mobility.
Guardian brings wards, stability and protection to your group. Warrior brings stuns, more damage, and offensive buffs.
