Actually the OP never said add speedy mounts.
The OP hardly said anything at all. He shouted a bit though.
Hi
I would like to earnestly suggest to the developers of Guild wars 2 that you INCLUDE MOUNTS IN THE GAME!!!!
Why?
In my experience, those vocal elitists who demand specific builds tend to be the same ones who are completely incompetent in dungeon runs, getting wiped every few seconds whilst other players with “weaker” builds have to carry them through whilst managing not to die in the process.
Elitists views are there to be ignored or laughed at. Don’t give them an additional tool to massage their egos with.
There’s already a thread on this.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Change-race-order-facility/first
Firstly, ANet have already said no. Roll a new character.
Secondly, I find it seriously hard to believe that it took you to level 80 before you realised you didn’t like the race you were playing.
Great. Guess it’s back to wow then.
No offense. Bye.
I’m sure ANet and the GW2 community will miss you.
For heaven’s sake don’t use the Q/A function if you’re not ASKING A QUESTION.
Terrible idea. What if a player moderator is blindly in favour of mounts, raids, holy trinity or open world PvP, or wants the game to be a sub-free version of WoW? You would be giving them the power to delete posts/ban anybody who disagrees with them!
What’s even stupider are people who can’t be bothered doing any research before buying a game and then demanding that the game be changed to match their expectations.
Those people who already PvP will need little reason to PvP more. Those of us who don’t PvP will not be swayed by constant “dool me brah” spam and duel invites.
I think I’m going to start reporting people who abuse the Q/A function from now on. It’s clearly done to grab attention as there’s no question here and hardly even a suggestion in the opening post.
ANet have already said that they have no plans for this. Deal with it and stop starting new threads on this subject every day.
There’s already a main thread on this and I’d suggest you actually bother reading it:

I searched before I posted, but didn’t find this. This is my first post about this topic.
Thanks for the link, I’ll read it, very helpful.
I wouldn’t waste my time using the forum’s search engine as it’s been broken for months. Use Google with ‘site:forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum’ (no quotes) with your search parameters instead. Far more effective in my experience, at least until ANet get their finger out and fix the forum search.

And also, wvw is not mentioned as a place for gvg, it’s not created at first for gvg.
Neither’s PvE. Very few people want PvE to turn into some tedious gankfest between guild members. Introduce this nonsense into the open world, and you will see all those servers becoming rapidly depleted of players.
Forum bugs should be reported here:
I think someone needs to read the forum rules before posting petitions:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/rules
Do not post petitions, “I demand an answer” threads, conspiracy threads, or comments about circumventing the rules.
You can keep world PvP out of PvE thanks.
I’m done wasting my time with you. You clearly haven’t got a clue what you’re talking about.
I don’t even know why I’m even bothering to entertain your whiny comments, but I’ve got an hour or so to kill, so why not?
I’m not a developer, but I know someone who is, who has worked on games in the past though not to this scale, but the processes are similar nonetheless (though any developers on here can feel free to correct me on anything I’ve written below) and they talked me through the processes involved with adding content.
Firstly, those minis. Yes, they can be shrunk down from existing models, but for efficiency, you also need to drastically reduce the polygon count for each model, otherwise the game will slow to a crawl trying to draw hundreds of the things on screen at any one time. Reducing the polygon count can be achieved through custom software (which Anet are probably using already for new minis), but the final result still needs a lot of touching up (reducing polygons can introduce gaps in the mesh) and retexturing to reflect the reduced polygons. Hardly, a “simple” job and can be very time consuming if there’s a lot of gaps in the final mesh.
Then, additional graphics (icons) have to be created for the bank storage area and general UI (if applicable). Again, this is still requires a dedicated artist.
After you have the assets in place, you then need to write the code to implement them into the game. Each mini behaves differently (different walking animations, sounds, etc) so the code has to reflect this. In some cases, you can use the existing animations, but in others, you may need to start from scratch which requires the services of an animator or two. As any developer knows, adding new code inevitably breaks something further down the line, no matter how well optimised the code is. It’s not a simple case of inserting a couple of lines of code and the job’s done: The code has to reference other pieces of code in the game as well as assets, otherwise you gradually end up with a load of bugs due to broken references.
Then, those minis have to be playtested. This can take weeks to make sure they don’t conflict with anything else, especially other new content that is being developed in parallel to these minis.
Once all that’s done, the new content can be rolled out. If done properly, then feedback will be generally positive. However, it’s impossible to account for every single user configuration that exists out there, and there will still be plenty of bug reports that need to be followed up.
I’ve probably missed a few steps (it was a long time ago), but as you can see, it’s hardly a “simple” procedure.
Oh, and actually, I’ll keep my ranger indignation here, since you were the one who brought it up in the first place!
(edited by uknortherner.2670)
Minis are effortless for Anet to create.
Ranger pets have to be run by the balance and combat department and tweaked and such and then find an excuse to place then in the world, and then if you want to put in a legendary pet there has to be a huge process implemented and all this for a single class nobody even likes.
For a mini, you slap the follow code onto the creature model and throw it on some vendor. It’s apples and oranges.
So you’re a developer then? You know exactly what goes into adding content, functionality, play testing, bug-fixing and QA?
Of course you don’t, otherwise you wouldn’t have posted this entitled little rant you just did. Oh, and many of us like rangers, so don’t presume to speak for everybody else, when you are expressing what is, to all intents and purposes, your own view. Thanks.
(edited by uknortherner.2670)
I demand it or I will be sad.
Yes, I’m sure ANet will get right on it.
There’s already a thread on this tired topic.
These are essentially questions to anet. you can go troll somewhere else now. kthnx
No, they’re not. There’s no questions there at all in any part of your post. I suggest before you start accusing people of trolling, that you learn how to use this forum properly.
Been asked for many times, sadly. The Town Clothes option merely exists to make NCSoft some money through Gem Store sales for lore-trampling cosmetics and that’s about it.
All I want to do is be able to use in-game gold to buy the same town clothes that all the NPCs are already wearing.
Although I’m not an RPer, I specifically looked for an RP server because of the increased atmosphere and immersion that RPers around me help to provide, especially in the cities which are usually deserted on other servers.
I’d rather things stayed as they are. I have no need to have the RP chatter replaced by “LOL, noob” and derogatory comments about my religion and/or what some 12-year-old would like to do to my mother, thanks.
For those of you saying that GW1 had such a system and it was fine – GW1 was heavily instanced. Outside the hubs, there was nobody around except the party you created.
Rcox, if you haven’t got a question to ask, then DON’T use the question function!
1) This topic has been done to death.
2) If the OP can’t be bothered writing in a coherent manner, then why should anyone bother to entertain their suggestion?
And in English?
I really wish people would stop using the question function when they’re not even asking a question…
Nothing is simple. I feel the same way about you.
Yes I said it before the fastest way to kill a thread is for the ones who oppose it to just not say anything in the thread at all. If you don’t believe me scan though to the first post I put in this thread. I would rather the thread would fail than have to continue debates with equally hardheadedness from either side.I vote we drop out of the discussion, so this thread can make its decent down though the page and off to the next …until the next one comes about that we should just ignore too.
The problem with ignoring these threads from an anti-mount standpoint is that the hardcore pro-mount proponents (not including you) would view a dissent-free thread to be a ringing endorsement for mounts.
The second group is made of players who are opposed to adding mounts to the game. Their reasons border on being outright fanatical, with many of their arguments being of the quality seen on 4chan or SomethingAwful.
In short, people who hold views different to your own should be ignored?
From my perspective, it is the people who want mounts whose reasons border on the fanatical: “Cos they look good”, “every other MMO has them so GW2 can’t be a real MMO without them”, “Mounts are cool”, “remove all waypoints and jumping puzzles cos I want flying mounts now!”, “I want to RP mounts in a series of games that never had them”, etc.
You see what happens when you twist what people say to fit your own pro-mount agenda?
Hoelbrak and Divinity’s Reach are always populated on Piken Square. Probably down to the roleplayers actually using these cities for roleplaying purposes, rather than because there’s any particular need to visit them though.
What’s really needed are activities and minigames to keep people coming back.
If I want to engage in online dating, I’ll use match.com or eHarmony. I play GW2 to have fun and have absolutely no interest whatsoever in having romantic relationships with other players. I certainly don’t want to be harassed by other players who believe that the players behind female toons are actually female, or that players behind male toons are actually male. I’m male and my toons are made up of both sexes.
Oh look. Another gankfest suggestion.
No thanks.
There’s no point having a synchronised day/night cycle reflecting server time when there’s no synchronisation between day and night states between zones to begin with!
I can’t be the only one left puzzled walking out of Divinity’s Reach in broad daylight straight into a midnight Queensdale.
Personally, I’m tired of these threads. GW2 does not need mounts.
Would love to see that link….

This is about as close as I can get it seems. It uses Aion’s character creator as its basis. Does Aion support capes?
Absolute rubbish. A player belonging to multiple guilds is not being selfish, they are making use of the tools that Anet has provided for them. Forcing players to commit to a single guild will not unite them, in fact it will do the exact opposite.
I know of several players who are in multiple guilds – one has a guild made up of family members, but he is also a member of a PvP-focused guild. Is he selfish for wanting to play with his family when he’s not in the mood for PvP?
I see from your own sig that you are a member of no less than two guilds (Deja Vu [RU] / Cemetery of Fatal Errors [CoFE] on Desolation). Therefore, you are pretty much as selfish as the people you are railing against.
Another capes thread?
I think he’s talking about PvE which, since culling was removed introduced a glitch where every single character is rendered with their weapons unsheathed.
That’s just your biased opinion. Full stop :P
No, you wanting mounts is not the same as the game needing mounts. If GW2 needed mounts, they would’ve been there from the very beginning.
GW2 needs Mounts. Period
No, it doesn’t. Full stop.
/Igot99problemsbutnotenoughcharactersain’tone.
Spaces count as characters, so you can just tap the space bar a few times to push you over the 15 character limit.
I remember shortly before the game went live one of the devs saying that the character creation system/model system was actually licensed from another MMO. If that other MMO didn’t have capes because of the limits of the character system, then you can be sure this one won’t, either.
Wish I could find the link now.
This is a rant, not a suggestion.
At the very least, you shouldn’t have to double-click the salvage kit again and again thanks to these warnings!
I absolutely despise toolbars.
No.
Lol, except that there have been more than 40 threads with the title “Mounts”.
You obviously didn’t look for it then.
Well, to be fair, the search function has been broken for weeks now. It doesn’t seem to pull up posts any older than 12 hours.
1. Sort/filter armour types in TP (light/medium/heavy)
2. Visibility toggle for remaining armour slots (boots/legs/torso)
