Someone please explain finishers

Finishers were added in PvE during LS1 against the toxic alliance. It was just another way to make more money off the gem store. It didn’t really add anything but annoyance that you now have to stomp some enemies when you used to kill them outright when their HP reached zero.

i think it added some immersion, because why do i (pc) get to have a downed state and not any other character in the game?

Could se4 pls be consisted of meta maps? Even if that means the maps are fewer. If you arent Wp who ever other month makes a ne charr to prove something or goes for legenary weapons therefore he needs winderberries (no offence i love the guy) you got NO replayability out of the se3 maps.

We litterally get 2-3 days worth of content every 2 months meanwhile 2-3 days could take you only to get the luminescent armor parts every release and that was 1 part. Theres no ppl playing the new maps except those who for god knows why need to have 35 diff sets of asc viper or minstrel stats for their characters. Meanwhile Dtop and sw are farmed to this day.

Ppl are quiting left and right because this quantity of content cannont sustain the player’s interest. I can undderstand this might be ok for casual players but casual but casual players wnt advertise your game as MO kindly asked us to do. And who ever would do that be it pvp guilds pvpers or wvwer quit because theres no new thigns to do inbetween those 3 month w8s.

Now as a general suggestion, the developers should not take the word of minorities in the forums as what the playerbase wants. It sounds ironical that i say that after put up my suggestions a few lines above but still, the game feels stale after a week.

God bless there has been te wvw update and the pvp one is on the way because it would be dead boring doing the same godkitten thing for the next 3 month w8 for 6 to get on the hype train.

Pvp has lost some of its shine without the competitiveness esports brought (even if it was memed and even if some ppl hated it) and im worried that 500 g a month on an automated format might not be enough to build a scene around it(i hope it will be but idk).

There are ways to make a big event out of it by having a bigg tourney at the end of the year that the bet teams from the monthly tourneys take play for for real life prizes and “fame”. You know something as community to look forward to.

As for wvw what a great first step, nice one anet (even tho im late on praising you). But, if it ends there it wont do nothing wvw needs moree attention, the rewards are so unreachable and it feels like thats the case because for the next 2 or so years there wont be anything new to look forward to and that makes me sad.

Anyways i thought id throw my 2 cents about the state of the game because ppl just look for the next good thing to jump ship and a whole lot of them would prefer if this game succeded instead. I hope i didnt come off as someone hating on the game because thats not the case. Im just frustrated with the state the game is in and i hope the updates to pvp and wvw and the expansion will be the start of better days for this game.

One thing I want to contribute. If every fractal gets a challenge mote maybe they should just be called…. tier 5? Seriously what is the point of a scaling difficulty system if you don’t use it when trying to actually introduce more difficulty.

Using already existing scaling system for this would imply suffering other consequences of said system (namely – inflated mob stats, and, what’s worse, increased required AR). Thanks, i’ll pass.

Implying AR was ever an issue for anyone running t4.

They won’t as they said all future expansions would be a bundle of previous expansions including fully removing the core game restrictions if a F2P account.

so for 45€ I will be buying hot again in a bundle, thats unrealistic and rather stupid cause there will be riots like with last expansion (and sales were bad).

Not personally liking the look doesn’t mean that the legendary weapons were rushed.

Flames of war and HMS divinity are ugliest weapons in my gaming history (20 years+) which look like they have been planned and made in 1 day.

Funnily enough they are some of the most detailed legendarys in the game lul. Personal preference doesnt translate to work done.

I’d like to briefly point out that cleanse throws a nasty variable into this discussion.

Without cleanse a soldiers vs Dire battle will result in Dire winning hands down. A soldiers build with a lot of cleanse will beat the Dire.

Further, build matters a lot. Even if a build uses a lot of cleanse that doesn’t make it a good build (it still needs to enhance damage through trait synergy with the skills). All these complaints about necro keep mentioning power damage reduction traits. Maybe that’s your issue and not Dire? Blaming it on the armor is hardly fair.

I feel most of the complaints about Dire boil down to complaints about cleanse, class vs class balance, and the classic problem that some builds/players are simply better than others. It’s an illusion that everything is easier when you take out stat combinations. It’s actually harder because now all the condition builds that were using Dire swap to even higher DPS builds and suddenly everything gets “worse” because “condi builds are hitting harder than ever.”

I use Deadshot in pvp. It is more effective in small scale than Dire would be (at same amount of available stats). Even if Dire were offered I would take the Deadshot option. I take Dire in WvW so I can roam and survive being jumped by 3-5 people. Cleanse, toughness, damage reduction traits and mobility are what save me. Dire is just a factor I use because the meta remains power damage and so the toughness helps me out.

Give me Deadshot armor in WvW. See how you like it.

Power builds have to make choices and sacrifice stuff to play against condi but for condi builds it doesnt matter they can use the stats they only need and then overload with defensive stats an be cool. For our dire and deadshot comparison, dire was in pvp it was added and in like less than a day or 2 it was removed due to player complaints. Do you think changing these stats in wvw would hurt anyone? Yes it would but condi builds just abuse survivability because they dont need anything else. Just changing the stats wont hurt anyone it will just make thee game more enjoyable. It is also easier than rebalancing condis as a reason they are broken to begin with are these stat sets.

Im refering to a condi thief in which case yes he wouldnt but what about any power class? Both dire and traib hard counter powerclasses. Im not asking for both these stat types to be removed i ask for their stats to be normalised with one losing vit and the other losing toughness. In the case of ire remove which ever of the 2 and give either prec or power.

My condi necro in all exotic dire gear begs to differ. I literally smash buttons on cooldown and win fights that I clearly should not be winning.

That has nothing to do with dire. Dire exist since 4 years ago, it is the boost to conditions through the balance that makes you win easily, absolutely nothing to do with dire. Then again, even before hot, a necro could melt people easily with condition on roaming but it was nerfed after that.

It has everything to do with Dire/TB. In WvW condi builds are the tankiest offensive builds available. In sPvP condi builds are squishier than their power counter parts for every class except Mesmer. Why is there such a difference between the modes? Hint: gear stats.

As pointed out your post a contradiction. Dire armor does little to create a tanky build against another condition build. The more condition builds there are the less tanky the build becomes in relative terms.

What COUNTERS condition builds is not toughness or adding toughness. If you want to counter a condition build you trait cleanse , vitality and healing from a defensive perspective, or try and pump out more damage over a shorter period of time.

That said If a person does sacrifice toughness so as to battle a DIRE user with those other stats , then he in turn becomes more vulnerable to power builds.

A necro condition build in carrion facing a Necro condition build in Dire is just as tanky given the added toughness the Necro in dire has does little to protect against condition damage. There certainly less raw damage taken due to that dire but that more then made up for by the added power of the necro in Carrion. There no practical reason in such a fight that Necro in Dire should outlast the one in carrion.

You do know that Dire has secondary stat vitality and that the only harder counter to such a build would be a nomad’s full-tank, right?

You do also know that vitality counters power damage efficacy, right?

You do realize your entire argument here is based on condi vs condi, while Dire is the hardest-countering set to power builds out there due to its damage:EHP ratio, right?

The argument for comparison would be more consistent for Carrion vs Valkyrie, not Dire.

And there is very good reason to suspect that Dire would outlast carrion in a fight; Dire ticks for more damage from utility consumables which scale both toughness and vitality into condition damage, and the power component of carrion would be substantially negated into rough equality hit-for-hit due to carrion’s lack of toughness not inhibiting the damage of no-power dire.

Which of course, depending on the profession, gets even more favorable for dire the more might which is stacked, given how %-wise, the efficiency favors higher toughness to higher base power.

Mathematically, Dire is and has been a problematic stat distribution since its inception. The only thing holding it back was the lower damage/burst throughput of condition builds early on. Even still, stat-for-stat, it’s always had the best efficiency in every way compared to other options, TB aside (although even some will argue Dire is still better than TB due to its higher tick damage and base HP).

Carrion has Vitality as a second stat. Carrion has same viatlity as DIRE.

A person In carrion has as much vitality and as much condition damage output as one in Dire. Utility consumable add is margnal. Assuming a 1 toughness advantage at 6 percent that all of 60 added condition damage.

Dire does little to defend against condition builds.

Carrion pumps out more damage then does Dire. Carrion against Dire is at advantage.

I have a warrior that wears Settlers. This warrior has a base health of 22k (as much as any thief in Dire as example)

This warrior has armor of over 4k.

This warrior has regen/adrenal/signet ticks of well over 1k per second. This warrior has marginally less Condition damage then a person in dire and MUCH greater healing via any number of sources wherin due to the high armor Health can be kept near peak because of the huge ongoing heals (Just as example If I take to the limit over healing signet the heal is 13000 every 24 seconds. This coupled with adrenal that can tick at 560 per second , regen ticking 250 per second and can even trait RR for a 7k+ heal on stun break or a shout for a heal of well over2k per shout.

This warrior in settlers does not put out as much damage as one in dire but has far more sustain and if he fought a warrior in Dire would simply outheal the added damage dire can do.

I speak from experience. You speculate. I took a DD thief using DB condition build and put him in a mic of Apothecary and Shamans. He fought head to head a thief using the same build wearing Dire and beat him each and every time they faced. The extra damage the other put out was more then made up for with the added healing my build had. In fact with this build GI was usable out of ACRO because health was nearly always over the threshold meaning Confusion , weakness vulnerability and slow were readily cleansed. This in turn made the EA cleanses more efficient.

I suggest you go in and try it.

A tip if a condi thief starts jumping on your stand still and aa when condis start racking up cleanse or resistance it and continue aa you will most likely win the trade if playing a power class. If theey try running then maybe throw a cc regardless u won the duel.

Potentially forcing players to play something they aren’t skilled with, I think it’s madness. You could end up with one team having the perfect initial comp, the other having to change every class. Then you have the same unbalanced kitten complaining community!

This exactly could happen with your suggested system if the comp the ppl who queued ended up with wasnt on par with the enemy’s

I’m not talking about people not having all classes, I’m talking about people that either have NONE or have one they are absolutely terrible at. It’s not going to work! Yes I have considered que times for popular classes, did you read my first post? People already que up as less popular classes to get quicker queues dude.

Wait what? How can you already que for less popular classes if classes dont matter in queues because you can get multiple classes so… and imagine that when the que time double after changing the que to disallow class stacking

Unlike many games anet follows a stance at least since hot id say where alot of the story takes parts in the maps the metas etc and experiencing those is part of the story. Not everyone will prob see it as that but that was the idea they were going for and i would say it work out fine.

Hows a 2 duo max que a 5 man premade? How are you sure if it meant for the enemy team a win they wouldnt class stack to get w/e advantage over the other team? If any team felt like class stacking would give them more chances to succed then simply a que like what you suggest wouldnt stop them. They have nothing to lose by doing it so why not do it?

As for your arguement about ppl liking some builds or classes i can understand that but, you make sacrifices, everyone does thats the one thing you gotta give up at time for being competitive.

I very much enjoy wierd build such as power mesmer or burn guard but i understand that if i want to compete i should give my team the most chances of success and if thats through me playing something else that is needed so be it.

Ofc ppl dont always have all classes but you adapt to it the way it work for your group. Have you also considered que tmes for overly popular classes and how bigger would they be for theem? Or que manipulations through queing with w/e for a short que then swapping to your favourite class because “who cares i dont have anything to lose”

As for my example we go : Prematch starts, ppl see the enemy teams and what they play and the call out classes. Ppl say which classes they can play or have and then they lock if the teams agrees to. If someone doesnt know more than 1 class says it to the rest and the team abjusts to that.

Propper communication the likes of which you see in a competitive environment. The rulles that aply against class stacking aply to all in 1 match. As for your 3rd point i cant quite understand it.

If you ever get the offering to work in mm design and general any game with pvp don’t take it. You will be that game’s downfall. Not allowing players to control how their comp wwill be like or addapt it when they see the enemy’s in the prematch section will do more harm than good. Mean while you didnt tell me why my suggestion was impossible to implement or ridiculous.

Idk im not the most experienced player in pvp and i might talk bs but, i believe we could get a good picture from a beta que with non class stacking allowed about balance and overall feel of pvp without it.

Just make a que like the normal ones and ehh make it so if someone has the same class as another person and that person has locked then the other person cant press “yes” and therefore hes locked in the w8ing room until he swaps off of that class.

Can the crystals in the light armor dye like way the new foefire stuff dye? Where it get the full colour without looking white regardless how you dye it. Also can the crystal only parts in the armor have their own channel? The way it is now all over the armor there are many parts of leather that share the same channel.

Tbh as the dedicated fans of this game shouldnt we have a say if its good for the company to dedicate resources for more legendary sets? I mean even with afew ppl hating on certain sets the overall vibe of the release of the armor was really nice. And if the guild chat was anything to go by then the w8 would be something close to year :/ instead of 2 years that the first set took :/

I agree with the time commitement it takes it should ahve been a legendary set then ppl would stop complaining about the time it takes and it would be a more fitting reward for wvwers who ahvent seen anything in so long. I mean t2 could jsut be the prec and then have wvw related and non related mats for the gifts idk :/. Ppl would w8 a year if the devs said it woul be legenadary. So long as they have all the rest from the getgo and the recipies ofc to farm.

I find you highly biased against the expac half of what you said gave meaning to alot of players who would abandon this game but focushing on the more hardcore audience for a change. I can agree tho that the way the handled the elite specs in pvp and the lack of balancing in wvw was bad choices but they had nothing to do with hot as an expac and more with anet themselves as poor managers of their own game.
The expac never presented it self as a content focushed one you can see it as a feature pack with the scope of an expansion and it purpose was to put the ground work and foundation for the future expansions.

Wonna hear a Dlc worth of content expac? Morrowing. Hot had a respectable on release amount of content and things to go for and if 1-2 months after release lw started roling and with it a bunch of new stuff the expac would have been a whole lot more loved.

I almost never see a 100CM post without the “pots/food/exp” requirement, and often requiring the title as well. But none of these things are any guarantee of being what the group really wants, which is 5 flawless robots for a speed run – more specifically, each person in the group is hoping the other 4 are flawless robots. When the players are inevitably outed to each other as fallible human beings instead, recriminations ramp up until the group falls apart. Then you see 2-3 new LFG postings with even more requirements than before: “100CM pots/food/title/exp” plus “don’t be a scrub plz”, “condi only”, “meta builds only”, and “must have leg armor” are all tags I’ve personally seen in the T4 LFG.

I only completed 100CM in PUGs 3 times before I decided not to subject myself to that environment anymore (and I’m sure they were happy to see me go). Now I only run it with guildies; even when we’re bad, at least we’re having fun instead of hating on each other.

Thats not the case ppl want others who know the mechanics and how to deal with them so they dont have to wipe on mama or siax for 4-5 times. Nobody cares about speedclears we only care about reasonable runs and smooth kills. Now if the OP hasnt done succesfully i suggest they make their own group and state that they go fo the clear just like we all did when it came out.

No no really condis are a good idea and they should not be removed. But, thy do need some toning down in pve and quite abit toning down in wvw so they are practically on par with power. And no in wvw on par doesnt mean condis need to deal as much dmg as a thief every sec.

You want to experience the story or the lore or w/e? Then sure we can discuss about a story mode. You want the legendary armor? Then do the actual thing u are not the first one with limited one and you will not the last. But alot of make it sothe can (on their own pace do the content). U cant? Then dont do it there are other stuff in the game you can do.

Also pls define casual i got friends who play for an hour or 2 max whenever they play and they have 1.4-2.6k hours.
