That would be very amazing, especially if players could join in and watch, or it being broadcasted on twitch, I would probably like to watch something like that more than PvP tournaments :P

What good at fighting means? Brain dead chimps could be good at blob fights. Some best players that i know are totally useless in blob fights. Others go inside keep and try to clear lord room while these good players stay outside and fight alone against 5 players.

Well….skill level in Guild Wars 2 does not seem to as complex as for example starcraft 2 I have played Gw2 for like 2-3 years but never got the idea that Gw2 required that much skill, seems more about knowledge. As for example knowledge about a certain build, when to dodge and other profession, actually clicking the dodge or dodging after knowing does not seem that skillful as for example beating a Diamond-Masters players in Starcraft. Even lupi is more about knowledge, yeah it does require a bit more skill to solo him since alot of things need to be considered at once even if you know every move he does, but still.

I guess you are talking about roamers with roaming builds, like ranger/thiefs?

But I was generally talking about commanders/connection between players/roamers/scouts etc.

Pick FSP if you wanna join guilds that blobs are bigger than other servers zone blobs and then you can brag how you win fights against PUGs in prime time. Of course these guilds will lose against karma trains in EotM because EotM if just too hc for them. Maybe i should upload video where SLAY guild wipe every time against upscaled karma trainers.

Sorry, but think you are getting something wrong…….EoTM is a leveling ground simply a karma train ground, if you are in EoTM you are mainly either looking to farm, or gank low level players since WvW players might be too hard. You wont get a equal fight from EoTM….The main issue is ofcourse level/build, if 1 group got 10 level 5´s you are guaranteed a win, it is simply not a fair matchup, which basically makes it a bad fight in the end…also why people do not fight in EoTM.

In EoTM people simply only care about karma/level farming, WvW is for fights, and sorry to say this, but stopping or killing a pug low level group who just want to level up….seems edgy, you are essentially just stopping them from level and probably made a few people quit on commander which suddenly made the leveling experience worse, rather than fighting equally.

Yeah if you are play outside of what is known as “EU primetime”, then I would heavely suggest SFR, first day might look like they are lossing hard but will get better over NA primetime. If you would like better fights without AC I would suggest FSP.

Really comes down to what time you are playing on.

Main thing I noticed is harder dungeon, riskier bosses/skipping trash mobs and dungeons only a minority can complete….

First of all, Harder dungeons….I dont know about this, the dungeons seem to be rather hard at the moment, people seem to skip or somehow easely bug dungeons to make them a lot easier, and if I remember right even aetherblade was decently hard, the only reason any dungeon got “easy” was either because bug abuse/skipping or the idea behind knowing every boss/stealthing/skipping through random mobs.
Riskier: There need to be an riskier system? I agree….by ALOT…..Trash mobs are only there to confuse new players at this point……..There need to be a risk behind doing so, bosses as well…

Content only a minority can complete:

I imagine this would be feeling like soloing lupi x3 in the open while it have like 5+ different attacks each phase without any form of 1 shot or massive health reducing attacks, at least 10+ bosses and of course a lot of trash mobs that cant be skipped and all around complete dungeon so maps would be tight/non skippable?

If that is so, I like the idea, I do not know if I would be able to complete such a dungeon, but good to have options or see others complete such a dungeon.

Well……..the airplanes will be able to wipe off opponent behind keep/objective, rather fast, the char……char thing, according to the dev….would be able to burn down gates pretty fast and really good for small groups since they dont need to go back and forth for supply and can just build and roll of……probably a lot better for huge blob? + Dragon banner and support banner which should be better for fights to knock off opponent, and support group, which will make open fights….different?

Yes defending got alot of things but all in all, it just seem like they are improving on not doing that much? stand behind keep/tower and get wiped off or be outside keep/tower and get whipped……and the whole…..Airstrikes might be able to be abused rather easely…..Besides, the fact that bigger WvW servers will now have a massive improvement over smaller wvw servers, since they can do all this forever?

Again, I reaaaaaaaally want to be wrong about this…….And the new maps might be so different that using this kind of tactics actually somehow makes smaller server more suitable for fights and standing behind keep/sieges less attractive?

It seems very much like coverage will be a huge thing in the expansion WvW?

In the Point of Interest, they talk about a number of things that would assume that more coverage equals more win, the idea behind “Dragon Banners” that might knock down, increase damage, and even support banners etc. There are also the flying airships…….

Granted I have not seen the new WvW map, only heard a bit about keeps defending themselves..moving keeps etc. I still can not see how this change would be beneficial for fighting in WvW nor having smaller servers being able to actually compete with servers that are just rolling over them, seems like it is getting to be more and more about objectives, than actual fighting, like when char…vehicles, I get that smaller groups can burn down a gate fast, but wouldn’t a bigger group be able to just melt it ?

Please do correct me if I am wrong, because I would honestly not like it if small servers gets a worst experience and fights gets a lot more rare. I get they are trying to make it more fun by making all of these things, but if it really does destroy the essence of WvW which is huge blob fights for me….then I cant see how that will ever be fun?

(Btw, if you can use scribe to stack up the airstrikes, and need to repeat each time consumed…..Wouldn’t it be abused by having as small a wvw guild as you possibly can get by each person and then just almost make infinite of them? Dont think its hard for 1 medium/huge WvW guild to organize enough people to just make enough so they never run out)

yeah the shareholding seems to be in play, but as far as I am aware, each business have hired some Business Consultants to keep price flowing, regarding hate towards a game developer company…………it seems like the only hate any game company can get, is if the game itself is flawed, I do not see how a designer, whether it’s Mike O’Brien of A-Net…..
I would never protect under normal circumstances NCsoft, they seem to be rather……shady about every move they do out of HQ (Head Quarters, Korea). But we have seen this kind of things multiple time, the difference corporations that work in a different way, or is holding western corporations in a leash because they of course work in a different way, a very known cooperation would be Nintendo..

As far as I am aware, both NCSOFT and Arena Net are both game designers, while NCSOFT have funded games, they are still game developers which is explained as such:

“NCSOFT is a South Korea-based online, video and mobile game development company that has produced Lineage, City of Heroes, WildStar, Guild Wars and Aion.” (I know wiki is not the best place to gather information, but was quick, and this is a gw2 discussion forum).

As far as I am aware both these companies can not even touch the price tag, they hire business consultants to decide price, am I correct on this assessment? If any Business Class/school graduate/student could inform me it would be great, pure guesses is fine as well I guess.

(My main question is because I did not get why everyone where so mad at a game designer company, as it seems they can not touch the price at all, and would of course not just dodge the bullet or re-direct it…since it would be cheesy. That is simply not their area, I have seen a document about other game companies like meat boy who only created the game, the selling price/showcasing is not decided by any designers, this was granted a small group of people, so might be different “rule set”…..I just cant see how a designer can touch a price in a cooperation this big……Again, if I am absolutely wrong about this, please say so).

Idk, the drops I get from Teq are rather amaizing compared to normal bosses which gives a few rares.

Yeah it all comes down to how A-Net intended it to be…………….

The bosses I want to be hard is: the, shattered hand TT(others probably got a bigger list, but still).
These are the bosses I want to see change in combat, I hope all bosses gets harder to some degree, the idea of just avoiding the hard bosses since reward same….could turn out to be pretty bad, even in HoT.

I do get that people are rather mad that it got more difficult killing a boss that they would instantly kill by keep repeating the 1 number, over and over……

But are these world bosses supposed to be this easy? As it used to be, you had to get into a map with alot of people you are basically golden, before that teq didn’t even have all these mobs, you just needed alot of AOE and boss wouldn’t even move or create poison/aoe water.

I hope that A-Net do NOT back down from this, I am ok with having some bosses that does not require amazing thought into it, but having a world boss as rewarding as teq, it truly needs to be difficult.

(On normal bosses without a timer increasing hp is of course not more difficult, it would just require double the amount of 1 clicks, but on teq where there is a timer everything needs to be more refined, or lupi where it is basically 1-2 shot, time/hp is a big thing).

How is this not challenging? the health is double the amount with the same time which means that everything needs to be more refined, I get people get mad for not getting the farm……..

But it should not in anyway be this easy to press 1-5 and win any boss, when I farm world bosses it is starting to feel more like a WoW grind, no preparation, get into a map with enough people and you are golden….’

This for me was a great change people will need to refine their gameplay, even teamspeak, and they need to add to it, create more obstacles, do not let massive numbers matter, to faceroll a boss because enough people clustered together can make enough hp/insta res……

(I do agree that increasing health for some bosses do not matter, but in this particular boss, it does, it will suddenly be alot better to be in a guild/map who does have teamspeak and people ready).

Downscaling is broken. Please address this.

Btw……if you dont see the huge difference in how this downscaling works and normal………Then try to beat a explore path with full lvl 35 idc if 10k+ AP…..You will still fail so hard since you cant stack anywhere and every single strike is almost a kill, and every trap seems to be a kill :P……

The whole play as a lvl 80 on a lvl 35 dungeon got a bit boring to me.

While he is bugged, he does reset really fast, not abonormal thing that he walks towards his normal position while you uuse cloak and dagger for damage and press 1 fast.

-But I would like to know if anyone in game can solo him in here with thief? would aprecieate it alot! Message me in game if anyone can, I will do the whole path, just teach me how to solo with new traits (I normaly did solo him on a somewhat daily basis, so not new, just unexperienced with the new traits).

Going stealth with lupi is rather risky, at the moment he is bugged, even ussing cloak and dagger for damage only is a risk.

I will try it a few times more with the reomended settings, but I tried acrobatics + trickery, and seems like still not enough dodges even when only dodging for evade, the you can not get a evade endurance with AOE.

Ohh…….seems like all he does is mainly 4 autoattacks, and even so, in the timer between 10-15 minutes of non 4 autoattacks seems rather impossible?

With the current new system it seems like thief dont have enough dodges? I have looked it over and over, even with 4x daggers 2 of them energy sigils, there still doesnt seem to be enough? Ofc this is with wall and daggerstorm + all traits that even remotely help towards a increased dodge, but seems like it burn out to fast since it is not spread out but targeted to a single dodge.

Any thoughts? I might be very wrong on this subject btw, but really dont see how.

Seems like dodges have decreased so that lupi soloing is pretty close to impossible if not impossible? I am ussing anything that gives endourance 4x daggers with 2 energy and ofc withdraw

I see you went back to add some more context and information to your post after the fact… Well now it sounds like you just want to paint everyone with a broad brush. Players have legitimate complaints, voice them in the only way they can, and they are childish for it? What would you suggest? They just shut up and buy something despite reservations, or else leave the game?

Never said that, I would request a better solution than fill every map and every discussion on forum with how much they hate Guild Wars and are probably just going to wildstar…..and FYI, probably going to leave this, I see where you are going with this, creating arguments for arguments sake, and tbh I really dont feel like playing who is the best keyboard warrior today

Even if all that is true, Guild Wars 2 is a great game, and dont know any other MMO I want to play tbh…….Every other mmo is simply straight out boring, at first I figured no end game in Gw2 was a bad thing, but noticed that I can play how I like to, I am not much for grind, everything can be a personal achievement…..

Everything from being best commander in WvW, solo lupi, solo arah path legit and teach new players how to do so, making legendaries yeah some people even have Role Playing in the game. The end game in Gw2 is the most fun thing I have tried……

I am not one of those who is going to equal past things A-Net have done, as if I “owe” them something from not making me pay sub etc……Because I really don’t, that was their decision and should NEVER be hold against anyone who play/paid for game and should never be an argument to why the price is as it is.
As far as I have seen it, everything from how guild halls work, to how you might be able to raid, and if not raid at least capture guild halls with only specific people “guild members” which is the first over 5 man PvE instance I have seen……I find that part of the game already worth 50$ for me, might be fanboyism, but for me personally it is worth it, I want to see how story develops, I want to be one of the first playing/capturing guild halls, and I truly like this game for what it is. If you have not used as much time on the game as I have or do not find this game fun in such a way, you probably should not pay for expansion.

I used to really enjoy wvw but am starting to really hate it. Almost everyone has transferred to higher population servers in order to do anything because it has become nothing but a K train reigns supreme, ie blob vs blob mentality. This to me is nothing but the same champ farming idea that happened in queensdale for pve. Fact of the matter is if you dont have 30 plus players at any given time, good luck doing anything. People are openly cheating with hacks and creating fake accounts in order to track movement as well. This is quickly becoming discouraging to anyone who wants to have even a remotely fair fight; and who would blame them? Capturing things mean nothing because they are quickly lost, servers with high players recruit night and day teams in order to do K trains at all hours of the day. If this is what you see wvw as why not create bigger maps and organize all servers into weekly 3vs3 battles between all? The population problem is conveyed across all servers and everyone is aware of this so what can we do to fix the problem?

First of all, your idea behind a “k train” is simply wrong, many times have people won a 40 vs 60 man zerg, just need good players and an amaizing commander, in higer tiers, they also teach people everything, from common stuff like where each profession should be in a fight since meele train will try to take down backline, and like ele without staff, should rethink to switch to staff, and one of the most common stuff and always spammed in mapchat so even new players get how important it is “teamspeak”, to a bit more complicated, like which siege should/can hit what kinda of wall/players. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7eE05T5D2k and also how to place sieges, like on what ground should a siege be placed since it would be a waste if you could place a siege that cant be hit and can hit like 5 different spots, but instead just place a siege that got insta killed (something like that, just with more people in a somewhat big WvW guild).

Sorry for long post, but just seems like you dont really know what is involved in what you call a “K train” calling a group of players/blob a K train is simply wrong, unless if they truly cannot fight at all, but only there because all they can do is hit gates/walls, then yeah.

On the second part of the post, you are right, they need to change the game so it is more about the fight than numbers at night, there are multiple posts about this issue, some request point based on numbers/time, this way everyone feels involved, problem is, even though EU got a small difference in night/day time, NA got a big one, around 7 hours I believe? Others have points per kill gets worth a lot more, this means that the servers have to focus on fights a lot more, the servers who win 1 every 10 fights, but still win at night time capping, would have to step up game in commander choosing…..

All in all, they really have to change the “Who can cap most at night time win the week” mentality, it really ruins the idea of WvW, from high tier to low tier WvW servers, also of course makes it less worth it to actually win, since it is not for the right cause.
All just from my perspective, rather subjective post and really comes down to which server you are on.

As someone who gets to things at my own pace, I dislike the DT/SW zone models. ANet seems to be adopting a content model based on requiring lots of players to complete objectives. When a lot of people are moving on to the next area (e.g., after they’ve gotten the current hot gewgaw), the zone becomes a wasteland with no hope to complete it. This can be seen sometimes in DT now. This is a phenomenon that is similar to what one sees in other MMO’s with dungeon/raid content — the older hotness is abandoned in favor of the new hotness.

Also that game design leads to something that ANet normally wants to avoid :
more toxic behaviour

Normally people don’t care much about how others play in the open world, that
makes it such a nice community there .. however in silverwaste where events more
often fail people also tend to make other players responsible for that because they
are “bad players” or whatever.

I attribute that to ANet’s desire to cater to those asking for more challenging content. I don’t see that at many of the old world bosses.

So:

  • Players ask for harder content
  • ANet makes harder content and puts it in the persistent world where anyone can show up
  • “Hard” generally means “possible to fail.”
  • Not surprisingly, “anyone” does show up
  • Sometimes events fail
  • No one says, “Oh, this is harder and we asked for harder, so we failed this time.”
  • Instead, they say, “We failed and didn’t get our stuff!”
  • Then it’s, “I blame <insert scapegoat>.”

Sorry, but harder means require more endurance, great effort on your part or difficult to resolve/finish…….Soloing lupi is hard (when lupi got harder people got mad, because there are professions now that simply can not do it, but people with professions who can, got happy since phase 2 is not standing still and waiting for 2 attacks), GvG can be hard (depending on guilds, and tactics like thief/mesmer hunting backline).

Doing the same process over and over is known as grinding, the possibility to fail does not change that, not even in the urban dictionary does something being hard somehow equal the possibility of losing or starting over….

What everyone wants is it being harder as it is described in the urban dictionary, as Collin told us, that should be very possible in the expansion, so happy for that, I just do not like it when people use 1 word that means something else entirely and transfer it to something else.

Well if zerker=sinister it means 2 builds viable in pug groups and solo dungeons.

If Cond>Power then more builds will work but it would be more cond/toughness and probably would have just as bad as an effect……And would remind me of other game companies that is living around this hate/love thing about single things that is essential in the game, not going to name companies….but we all probably have a somewhat idea what it could be…….

All I am saying…….This is HUGE A-Net, please don’t break it and let it be broken for like 2 years.

You should have seen Augury Rock on reset a couple weeks back. Complete ranger/bear zerg. They mowed the gate down in like 2 minutes. So many arrows … ><

If there is a youtube, could you show it?

I cant imagine it, wall/might stack range bomb and seem like that ranged group is done, unless if Player vs Door or something like that.

Useful classes in structured WvW (teamspeak 3)

For roaming you can use anything with a good 1v1 build, but I do not find roaming that enjoyable, but again…..depends on server population, guild etc.

GvG is very important to have might stack and some use thief/mesmer groups to kill backline.

In all honesty, I have never heard anything less usefull than a ranger in WvW

just buy it from store in fractals, they give you 5 AR….. Double click the infusion and click on the ascended piece…..and……done.

If you want to get further into it, here is a website showing you how much AR you need for each level, if you have 2 ascended pieces you should be fine until lvl 20…6 ascended pieces and fine until lvl 30.

Just all around sad, Gw2 used to be known as the least toxic game out there, now it is common that returning players write that they won’t in forums anymore because the population got toxic.

Still dont know if it is a programmed issue or simply is people comming from some very known toxic games because price point, ignorance used to be very……very rare, almost non existance like a year back…Only honestly seen it a few times at this point I see it now, both in game party groups/PvP yeah even Map Chat, really hope that changes over time.

Steve, please re-read the post, I did not make it that long. My main concern is not the “trolls” that are rather fun, it is answers that do not coordinate with current posts, and only there for a negative impact without any form of information to help the post progress…..like yours.

You might be right Mercury, though I do see a huge increase in dungeon joining and getting mad if asking for some certain things, like no one shot….etc. and regarding my bad encounters….I haven’t had any yet….Kappa…

Just me or did the community get rather toxic these last 4 months? I guess it comes from how cheap the game got, or maybe the SW “grind”?

Even the forum have changed, those who usually did write were people could/would want to help progress a question, it would normally be a post that would give a great explanation of why it can/cant happen, now it is simply negative posts because it is easier to be negative, and can mainly just be answered by copy/paste the first post…….

Now it is rather immature answers that could as well have been written on a youtube chat, that sometimes dont answer the question/discussion………It have even come so far that the people who write the comments haven’t even read the whole post so it is like a repeat answer………

Why is that, simply because “grind” or cheap game?

It really depends on your prime time, server and most importantly commander……..

In my server alot of players like the major fights, the BL are in primetime always on queue so everyone would like the big fights, the top servers are mainly looking for fights in open field, outnumbering opponent mainly happens in mid/low tier servers where even teamspeak is not an option…………….

~But yeah, the answer to this will VERY much depend on server and main commander, if serious/fun/amazingly good can take down opponents garri with 20 people vs 30….Or if the commander only does AC even on equal numbers to burn down opponent~

Lol……First of all, this is first a game….the objective is to win in a fights or karma train……If A-Net placed a gun at my head or anyone was in danger like a real war, then you better believe I would have ts or even hack…….But as it is now, I just respawn, thoug rep. Would be worse if opponent or we started to do low tactics like targeting a commander…..

Let me start of by saying that it is not a legit strategy, it is a cheesy strategy………If ANY commander ask you to do such a thing I recommend just leaving the zerg or guild, every guilds/commanders/servers that do such a thing is known to be the worst in game……..So I suggest you dont follow the trail of bad habits……

In my server if anyone points out the opponent commander then the normal reply would even be very harsh, or simply ignored.

For your suggestions:

Hiding ranks wont do anything, it is rather easy to find the commander anyway.

Giving buffs to commanders would not help as well, this will be abused, it creates a bigger field to let people use commander tag to gain alot of health………Even if somehow a single person or 2 in the whole wvw field would get this and somehow it could be a democratic….buff gained by the people, it would still be bad, guild raids would want them……there would be a limit to who can play and who can not……It would simply be a mess….

My suggestion, if any commander ask you to target opponent commander, just leave them, since it is looked very down upon.

Yeah seems like that the “fixing WvW” relies very much on point system, maybe because it is easy to change or it is because it does not make the gameplay any less fun….

The idea that changing the point system should discriminating some people is simply wrong, it settles things so everyone is on a equal footing………

And if we choose a point system that is about how many players that currently are on map, and people think that it should somehow be abused by people is wrong as well, first of all, it is rather hard if not impossible to hold everyone on that server back…Even if we say it is somehow possible, that server will fall massively in points, the other servers will get small amounts of point during that time, but they will still win every fight and possibly every points that are available, specially because no one is around to take them…………

They have actually been very focussed……Their main objective was to make people keep playing, create an endgame of sorts, which was the beginning of living stories, which we have had for a very long time. They cant anymore, because they have been working on HoT for a very long time according to themselves.

They have been working with other stuff, but seems like their main reason is to create a somewhat never ending game……..Or at least very long, so that people dont just log in when living story gets on and log out again as soona s done with that.
My major concern is that they think that SW/Dry Top is a good plane ground to lay on top of the new mastery system, since in SW you dont just pres 1, but gets very boring. Again as I wrote, it is mere speculation at this point and should probably not be discussed further unless if it shows out to be the case.

Yes and no, judging a company based on their activity is rather important, especially when they have acted so heavily on something that is so (subjective thoughts)…. boring.

For me it is very important that a company explains very well what they want, where they are, and what kind of difference that can happen, especially if they are at a switch it this much (of course game companies is different, their take on explaining where they are is normally a surprise rather than a explanation to stabilize their consumers, though doing this have been proven to be good, since the fan base is generally big enough to not worry so much about “if they want to buy a surprise, even though it is clear that we have completely changed”)., it is also very important in general, since the consumer needs to know where they are or everything gets rather unstable…..

But for me to judge based on something like that, could be just plane wrong.
As you said, the stress test have been very short and it have only been in a somewhat SWish map that is of course smaller, and the fact that they choose SW/Dry Top as the single and only way to enter this stress test could just be because it was the last thing they did, or it simply connected story wise, that the maps are like that is probably not the core reason.

I might be wrong here since I have not seen many videos/twitch posted by A-Net, but it seems rather unclear what they like and dislike.

Do they like the silverwaste zerging PvE…….thing repeat?

ALOT of players have commented about the beta, that it is simply a dry top/silverwaste feel, that everyone is simply following commander while killing mobs, is that what we are expecting for the expansion, and is it how they want to proceed their game, did they comment on if they liked the silverwaste?

Because I have asked alot if other people might like it, since it might have just been me who didnt like the x amounts of clicks and repeat of same process over and over until you were in front of boss.. have really not found a single one yet who actually likes the silverwaste, but mainly does it to “grind” for beta or even legendary….The whole…. act on consumer idea would be a good idea at this point.

(I somehow must assume that they like it, since SW and Dry Top were the only way you could play the beta, and they seem to just put more effort into that type of gameplay rather than moving away from it).

as I see it, the WvW at night courses way to many problems, especially because the different time zones within EU is not that high, this creates an open field where people could abuse the system to win based on buying people from other regions instead of winning based on fighting capabilities.

Making night time different, maybe a lot darker, would cause even more abuse, people would turn on any form of night vision to remove it and gain more control over those who don’t have it on………It would be cool for 1 day, since only very few low people would actually abuse it by that time, but I cant see it be any less annoying than the pilot april fools thing, unless if they add dark monsters in, like in the game Don´t Starve, that would instantly kill you if you move out of the light……But that is probably going overboard, and I honestly can see a few ways to abuse the system as well, especially with so many people with torches=a lot of light vs very few people without =very small light.
