I wouldn’t say it was difficult but it wasn’t what I was used to. It took me a short while to adjust to things but the concepts are pretty simple so it was a very short while. Downed state I’d never seen before and it was confusing the first one or two times. Traits was/is similar to many games so it wasn’t that hard to figure out.

Have to agree with crafting.

I like the kit backpacks, I think its one of the things that make the engineers different.

And it looks like I have a bit more pride in the profession than the people who want to compare them to homeless bums.

None. I’d like to see more mix and match armour sets that are for modern Tyria, not things that came from the “olden days”.

Is it going to be a sticky maybe? Or will that be less noticeable? And has this question been asked?

I’m just going to say that I’m neither happy nor unhappy with the game. I’m currently satisfied with what is available here and what I do in the game to keep me here. I only play for now and not the future, and don’t bother with the past. If Anet is able to keep me satisfied then awesome, otherwise sayonara.

Stop promoting your game as play the class you want because clearly youre giving light armor classes the advantage.

Tyrian dragon magic! Since this is Mordremoth’s the substance being spat is probably sap so it’ll be sticky. Pretty gross but good for the removal of unwanted facial hair. There’s a silver lining in everything, though Charr may want to watch out.

The removal of dyes from the drop tables has to be one of the worst decisions ever made by Arenanet. It is mind boggling that they would make so many decisions that are meant to assist the new player in other areas, but then take out one of the most enjoyable and fun things for anyone in game.

Its like someone came in and crushed all your crayons. I have been in game for 2 years and this decision makes me sad for new players who do not have the joy of getting a new dye. On the days when I was having extreme bad luck and poor drops, a dye could make my entire day.

I don’t know what is worst: the removal of the BLC keys from the drop table or the removal of dyes.

I’m pretty sure keys are still able to drop from mobs. My guildie got one recently.

This. So much this. I really hope you weren’t being sarcastic.

This is my first MMO. Every player I’ve brought to the game, myself included, when downed for the first time went “WTF IS THIS?! WHY IS THE WORLD RED AND ON FIRE?!” All the screen says is “Fight to survive!” and your only skills not on cooldown are 1 and 2. So, jam 1 repeatedly, notice your life dropping quite dramatically, flail, die. There’s no explanation about what’s going on, and it’s not clear that “fighting” actually means “kill something else immediately.”

It took me a long time to figure out what my skills were because often I would die before they were off CD and there was just too much going on to hover over the skills and process them. It also doesn’t tell you that you don’t need to jam 4 for it to work, and that doing anything else while waiting for 4 to rally you will end the skill.

Yeah, I remember this experience from when I first started playing. It wasn’t very fun. If they have arranged it so that more new players can understand the feature early on then great.

If you’re an alt-roller then I’d imagine you don’t even get into the downstate until well after level 5.

Any Shiverpeaks. If I had to make a league ladder then Dredgehaunt and Wayfarer would be tied for first and Frostgorge last, but with only a few points separating all of them. I’m an absolute sucker for snow covered mountains.

The issue has multiple layers though. Not all light armor wearers on an account are an account’s tailor. My tailor is a heavy and I’d like to farm the tailor mats on my tailor. This whole thing would be fixed if we had cloth nodes though.

So you aren’t liking it for RP reasons?

I’d like character bound but I don’t think this game could handle it. Don’t ask me why since its just a feeling.

Individual Style and Customisation – I’ve been thinking for a while that I’d like to see (if ever implemented) housing done in some sort of modular way. It would suit an account bound system as well. Say you start with a Norn lodge foundation and then you can add a Sylvari tower or Asuran lab annex or Charr steel outhouse or whatever. Or none of it, just stick with Norn. But with plenty of different style options within this. It would be an awful lot of work for them though.

Taxes – I dislike the way some games have had this. Donari, you mention Lotro, and Daoc had the same. I’m thinking that since GW2 is a pretty violent place then gold sinks can come from hiring security, or something.

Anyway, since this has come up again I’d thought put something down here.

edit: and I still stand by what I said on page 1. I just like speculating about it.

GW2 is always the same and different. If you do come back I’d suggest you might want to look into getting a new guild. Or maybe they’re angry because they care about you. No that can’t be it, get a new one.

Rather than raging, I’d say its more about brainstorming and collaborating.. we are not devs or something but we are players and we play a very big part of the game that’s why they tell us in advance what they are proposing because the minds of more people are always going to better than less. People reacting to these kind proposals with a standpoint actually shows that people do care about the game. Raging complains without reason and from what i see… rage is not a correct term on this.

Raging about Commander tags costing 300 gold per color got it changed to 300 gold for all colors. Sometimes it’s best to let the developers know what we think of their proposed changes before it’s released.

That’s completely different to this. You knew how it was going to work. With this new drops thing you have no idea how much or little it’s tweaked.

I should have joined you guys for the Pavilion. I stopped doing it after a week due to frustration.

I’m not going to comment on all your thoughts of the classes since I don’t have a problem with any of them, but your idea of guardians is not quite right. They just aren’t just defensive buffers/healers; they can hit and hit hard if played right. I have two at 80 and neither of them are softies. If you did get one to 80 previously then maybe do it again but do everything the complete opposite of what you did the last time.

So why wouldn’t you just move for a bit if you were asked?

1. ArenaNet GMs very rarely send unsolicited whispers.

2. ArenaNet Senior GMs all have character names akin to GM Madi Walker and have the ArenaNet Guild Tag.

3. All ArenaNet GMs have GM ‘Hopefully Cool Alias’.#### for a display name.

4. GM whisper text is golden; not purple.

5. Impersonating a employee or agent of ArenaNet will result in an immediate suspension or termination of your account.

Hope this helps you identify real GMs versus the imposters out there.

I don’t think we’ll ever know but it doesn’t look pretty.

Move onto another starter map. Head into DR, find the purple portal icon on the map, use it to go to Lions Arch and select another portal to go to which ever city you like. Travel through the city to the starter map. You can do that with all five maps before heading to anywhere else higher if it makes you more comfortable while feeling out the game.

edit: and I might suggest Wayfarer Foothills (the Norn map) for your next map. Its a pretty straight forward map to navigate.

Actually most people haven’t. Most people are asking for MORE, as in New Skills, New Races, Many New Zones, New Legendaries, New Dungeons, etc. You know, stuff that is usually in an Expansion(most of the people I have seen asking for this would happily pay for it myself included). I also understand that maybe they don’t have to resources to do both, but I wonder how that is. The last time we heard there was only around 20 people working on the LS at any 1 time. I know there are a lot of non dev workers at Anet, but still Anet has over 300 people working for them, where is the real content? 2 New Zones, 2 New traits for every class, “2” New healing skills, and Fractals. 2 years and this is what we have? Yes there have been new “features” added, and stuff have been replaced(not new), but EVERY game has stuff like this added.

Honestly, I don’t even know why I’m posting anymore because I’ve given up on this game. I’m only here till I find something better(sadly ArcheAge isn’t very good imo). I know I’m not going to change the minds of the people who think Anet can do no wrong. I know my guild and I won’t be here any longer than till a better game comes around, which is sad for me because I love many many things about GW2, but I also can’t play the same stuff for years and years again(I already had to do that in GW1 while waiting for this game).

I have to agree that now, after two years, a few more things could have been added. I’m hoping that some of those extra staff are balance people who are working on traits and skills. These could be added during the LS and not have to wait for Feature Packs. I feel like I’m marking time at the moment and I don’t play for as long as I used to, but I’m still having fun here and won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

Just to let you know that WvW is probably more comparable to Daoc battlegrounds (Thid, Molvik etc) than the frontier. You can get into it anytime since you get uplevelled to 80 but it might be worth waiting until you’re a fair way into your character. Or try it out in the EoTM map.

I was a long time Daoc player and when I read a dev interview for that game, back in the day, about how he went home after a day of Daoc game creation to spend the night playing WoW I really wasn’t happy. Honestly, I’m torn but Far Shiverpeaks seems the one which could be executed the best and have the closest feel of nostalgia. Plus, we could have the norn take center stage on the whole thing. About time someone other than the asura and sylvari got a chance to actually do things.

But then I really want to go into the Crystal Desert after Kralkatorrik because that seems like it could be entertaining to watch humanity push that frontier with the intent of reclaiming the path of Ascension. Or maybe just giving Logan a chance to actually do it right this time.

(Plus, if they go to the Desert, that gets closer to the Desolation and Elona . . . which is more my favorite other region than Cantha.)

I’m pretty much with you on these regions. I want more snow, and that gate at Ebonhawke has been teasing me for over a year now.

Not quite sure what you’re on about.

This particular line:

- “Fix pets.” “To do that we’d have to completely redo code and it’s not a quick endeavor, can we come up with anything else?”

- “Can’t fix? Fine. Get rid of pets.” “We don’t really want to do that. We really wanted rangers to have pets, and that’s how we ran the design.”

- “Well let us perma-stow them.” “We don’t want to do that, as then it’s not giving you any benefit to being out.”

- “Give us a buff then when permastow’d.” “Then, why would rangers run with pets at all?”

- “You’re getting the idea now!”

That was the biggest slice of stink I recall from that CDI. That, and they didn’t want to basically buff the ranger too much out of fear of “power creep” settling in if they did. “Well now the ranger got buffed, we need to buff X class just to keep up now.”

The ranger CDI was, for the largest part of it, some players trying to dictate to the devs and getting huffy when the devs didn’t seem to be taking it seriously.

Well then, I’m glad it fell in heap.

More importantly there are people that just want some kind of answer. Not a solution mind you. An answer. Even if the answer is: We hear you, but we cannot work on this at this time. Or, we hear you, but this is the direction we are simply taking the game in and apologize if thats not what you are looking for in the game. Or (hopefully) we hear you and we hope to have someone looking into some options but cannot give any deadlines/ETA on when we can seriously look into this. Anything. Please. Stop letting that post get to 38+ pages without a single word from someone. I think that is the kind of frustration many people feel that lead them to think that you all aren’t listening. This has been a thing since the LAST major feature update and its gone past the point of disconcerting.

You might be hearing but are you really listening? Go have a look at the last page or two of the Trait thread. You’ll find a red tag. It isn’t much but it’s something.

Not wrong. I don’t have too many beefs with the new trait system ( which is why I haven’t posted there) but that many pages without any response…well…

If you need to get lost in something to get yourself through it then this is much better than some alternatives. DDO helped me a couple of years ago with a similar issue, though hardly as deep as yours. Good luck.

What about communicating with yourselves? From what I’ve read, especially on glassdoor.com, it seems that communication between the upper management and the lower level employees, and understanding between upper management and the players, is severely lacking. I’d personally rather see something done to improve ArenaNet as a whole than increased communication with the players. Communication with the players is worthless if the company can’t run efficiently and produce good content, and players have noticed for a while now how badly prioritized and managed content creation has been.

This is ridiculous. If you think this is some sort of “problem” then you’ve never been in the work force.

Annnnnnd again, join any server you want. Most servers (even TC, to some degree) has players who hate RP’ers. Sometimes I get into some Megaservers with RP’ers and I’ll get people in map chat flaming them and making fun of them. There’s also people who stop by and commend them for their cute characters and enjoyment of the game.

It most likely won’t make a difference what server you join if you’re going to friend (and join their guild, if you can) a lot of TC people.
