How hard is it to create titles?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zerorogue.9410

zerorogue.9410

I don’t presume to know how Anet codes their titles into the game. However as a programmer I can venture a guess(or at least how I would do it.). Create an Array(list of objects) that holds an Object(stored data) that stores the information for each title. This would mean to add a new title would only require a programmer to add another object at the end of the Array. Should be just a few lines of code if the program is written easy enough. It could even be no code at all if some sort of back end program has been made at anet to manage data like this.

If they do increase the rate they add titles into the game. I hope they add a

Elementalist, Guardian, or Thief?

in Players Helping Players

I’ve played all 3 classes, My favorite is Elementalist.

Elementalist is essentially a class that is good at everything and great at nothing. Staff ele’s are very good at supporting and damaging form a distance while having a few get out of trouble spells ready. Daggers give the elementalist amazing burst damage but you have to make sure nothing hits you. scepter builds are very good balances between the two and often can get a lot of boons up in very little time.

Guardians are excellent team players most of their skills help out (or can be traited to help) nearby players. I run a greatsword/staff build that allows me to get into the thick of combat while shrugging off damage, and when I need to support allies I can jump back equip the staff and give my allies great boosts in power and health.

Thiefs are basically hit and run classes that can hit very depending on your build. I started thieving as a P/P berserker build. you use stealth to keep yourself out of danger while causing devastating damage on your enemies, while I was using it in WvW I did at least 25% of an enemies health with my 3rd skill quite often i took berserker past 50% of their health. And If you ever really got in trouble just drop the house(Shadow Refuge) and sneak away. Recently I switched over to a p/d condition build that deals allot less damage in exchange for increased durability and more target control.

I hope this helps your choice

No way to monetize WvW?! What insanity is this?
First off WvW is already being monetized. I didn’t buy a golem that smacks down my finished enemies just to stomp nightmare courtiers.

Secondly I can think of tons of ways to do so that wouldn’t cause any problems with game play.
Siege that have new skins. Use an item that acts like a blueprint but instead of disappearing it takes a normal blueprint to use.
Upgraded Guild Capes.(new borders, textures, symbols, etc.)
Flair for captured objectives(players can buy upgrades for their guild that add special skins for captured objectives.)

The reason why this issue keeps cropping up is simple, they keep adding things to the .dat file that suggests their going to do it. And as always you should believe what you see far more than what anyone says.

Also Anet has now gotten itself a reputation of springing bad news on their players without any warning. (Gem/gold interface just to name one.)

The fact is we need to keep going against this issue until they no longer consider it.

Isn’t this the one thing Colin has said is . . . in fact . . . off the table?

Like I said in my post you should always believe what your eyes are seeing over what someone is telling you. He says he’s not doing a subscription, yet we keep getting parts of a subscription service added to the game. If it’s off the table, why are they continuing to do work on it?

No subscription is the 1# reason why I got Guild Wars 9 years ago. Game with subscriptions(either mandatory or optional) have always been in a bad light for me. First I don’t believe you should pay a monthly subscription to play a game you like. Secondly in a premium subscription system I can’t see myself enjoying either side. As a free player I get jealous at all the Paid getting everything handed to them. And as a Paid player the game loses any of its challenge. I’ve been on both sides, neither is fun.

If Anet is in need of money there is a lot of alternative ways to do it:
Gold Mode Dungeons(paying x gems to increase the drop rate for you and your party)
Monthly gem Gift(Redeeming gems Gives you a gift from the gem store every month)
^^Why did you stop this?! I know players who exclusively bought gems just for this.

The idea is to make a money bomb(see Here)
Gem store purchases should be at the best one of two things.
1)be a personal benefit that no other player can see.
2)be something the benefits everyone around the player when used.

Here’s an example I think both players and devs could agree on.
4 new gemstone items each for 100 gems.
Grail of Might,Essence of Celerity,Armor of Salvation,Four-Leaf Clover(those from gw1 can see where this is going)
Grail of Might – One time use Consumable- When used gives everyone nearby a status effect where:+vitality, +power, +condition damage, +ferocity
Essence of Celerity – One time use Consumable- When used gives everyone nearby a status effect where: +movement speed, +Precision, +healing power, faster resurrection speed
Armor of Salvation – One time use Consumable- When used gives everyone nearby a status effect where: +toughness, health regen every second, damage reduction.
Armor of Salvation – One time use Consumable- When used gives everyone nearby a status effect where: +magic find.(these can be stacked with other magic clovers for more magic find!)

You could even make it so mixing boosters in the mystic forge has a 20% chance to get one of these super boosters.

The china GW2 VIP apparently is this(at least from the beta images)
There’s a “Royal Title” this title requies you to pay 1250 gems every 30 days.
While you have the title you can gain “Royal XP” To increase your Royal rank by completing dailies/weeklies/monthlies.
This rank will appear next your character name to others.
your character name will also be shown in purple rather than green.

bonuses for royal title.
Increased XP, Movement speed, gathering.
Ability to teleport to friends.
3 gold + materials every day.
easier resurrection.(might be rez yourself on cooldown)
summon a black lion trader on demand.

when you rank up you get a reward(simmilar to leveling for us) they include.
Gemstore discounts(up to 90% off an item)
boosters
finishers
skillpoints
Materials
Items

Other thing that have been offered
Bag slots
Bank acess
character slots
bank space

It should also be mentioned that dyes cost 38 gems to use.

Keep in mind this is mostly due to the fact Anet had to hand over the game to a china dev who believed this is how you make money. This still shows a dark side to the game we all love..

I would hope anet would give us a good amount of advanced warning if their going to make a premium subscription. Although It makes me worry that they are corrupting the original concept of guild wars by even thinking about it.

There is however a premium subscription in china where you can pay to make the game easier. They have been translating parts of it for a while now and putting it into the game as hidden strings. This was orchestrated by the Chinese developer company that manages gw2 over there. However it would not take them much to put it on US and EU servers.

Personally I believe subscriptions and premium accounts are bad. Very bad. These cause developers to think only of methods of getting cash rather than making a game that is fun. On the other side It creates a rift between players that have and have not. I myself would rather see guild wars 2 shut down than a premium service started up.

There are many easier and less abrasive methods to get cash for a game.

First and foremost we really need more transparency here. Patches here seem less what new stuff we get and more what we’re going to be angry about this time. It doesn’t take a game design expert to see something like this would anger a lot of players.

Please, the next time your going to overhaul an important part of the game TELL US FIRST This is in caps and bold not to yell but to make sure it is well understood this is the #1 thing a game team needs to do. I almost feel like arena net is acting like some kid who broke their mother’s vase and is doing everything to delay their parent from eventually finding out. If our input was really wanted shouldn’t you ask us before doing something like this? I know you have CDI, but there was no CDI for this one.

Now to the issue at hand.
KISS Method; Put a gear on the top left that allows the user to pick normal(new one) or advanced(old one). Should be a simple little five minute job for a coder. Fifty seconds with no patch needed if this page is a part of the HTML part of the black lion.

CDI- Guilds- Guild Halls

in CDI

PAGE 2/2

This second page is for additional information about the idea. Such as special features or extras.

Resource nodes
Three upgrades create a garden, a forest, and a mine at the guild hall. Upgrading this reveals a new location for each of these. (alternatively it may just create an NPC and nodes if the area is a part of the initial area.) An npc at each location will allow players with “guild hall edit” permission to set what nodes can be harvested(nodes change at daily reset to prevent rapid changing). These nodes can only be harvested once per day(reset at daily along with changing nodes). How many nodes is biased on what tier is chosen (lower tier = more nodes)

Guild Hall menu
This menu is in the [G] menu and editable by members with “guild hall edit” permission. in the panel is a list of all the items currently place-able in the guild hall, as well as a list of those currently placed. a List of players currently in the guild hall(with the ability to kick them), who can enter the guild hall (public, member, special access permission) and a current status of the guild hall(what tier, what upgrades, etc…)

Guild Store
Guilds can buy and sell items outside the BLT. This is done at the guild store(unlocked through guild research) This is a special room that has Places that players can place items for sale or to buy. For selling items, items are deposited into the display and kept there to sell. For buying the total gold required to fill the buy order is kept. When items are sold the gold is placed into the Guild stash. When items are bought they are kept in the display until a guild member can retrieve them(requires Guild stash withdraw). there are only a set number of these displays. (sell more in gem store?)

Guild Room settings
A small panel in each room allows guild members to set who can enter a room. There are 3 settings, everyone, guild members only, and Special Access. Special Access biased on who has the “Special Access” permission.(creating a new permission for this allows for unique use of this feature)

Guild Application Board
A Guild item that Allows players to apply for a guild in game. Interacting with the item while in the guild and having “admin lower ranks” permission will allow the guild member to edit a text box about the guild, set if applications are accepted currently, and review current pending applications. Interacting with the item while not in the guild will show up a guild invite panel if the guild allows applications. (has a small text box where the player can describe them-self.)

Visiting Guild halls
Other players may visit guilds if they are set as public in the guild customization screen. Visiting other guilds allows you to use their harvest nodes, buy and sell items to the guild, and apply for membership. Note harvesting the nodes in one guild hall makes them harvested in all guild halls. (similar to how it’s done in home instance)

zerorogue.9410

I’ve had a lot of ideas guild halls for a while now. Now that we have a CDI on it, I decided to put them down. Here’s what I have…

PAGE 1/2

I’m hoping we can get a highly customizable system that allows each guild to build their own guild hall.

building the guild hall.
In order to build a guild hall a guild must have

  • Guild Hall Permit research done(in lv 1-2 of Architecture)
  • A Guild Sigil(how to get is below)
  • The resources to build the initial hall.

Cost for lv1 guild hall.
5 gold + 1,000 Green Wood Planks + 1,000 Copper Ingots.
The player must then go to a guild portal to build the hall.(what a guild portal is below)

Getting the Sigil
There are 3 ways to get a Sigil from drops. (the Sigil is trade-able on BLT for those who are RNG cursed)

  • A random Drop from Team Arenas in sPvP
  • A random Drop from capturing stone mist in WvW.
  • A random Drop from completing Guild Puzzles (highest chance)
Idealy the drop rate of these should be adjusted to put the price on the trader around 50 gold.

Guild Portals
Around the world are guild portals. These are the places that guild halls are instanced. Each portal represents a different theme. For instance buying a guild hall from the guild portal in Rata Sum would yield an Asuran lab themed guild hall. Additional Guild hall portals can be created for additional themes. Interacting with one of these points would allow you to:

  • buy or upgrade your guild hall. requires “guild hall edit” permission(new permission).
  • visit a public guild hall there.
  • Enter your guild hall. (any guild portal can be used to enter your guild hall.)

Layout of the guild hall.
The guild hall is instanced allowing multiple guilds to share the same guild portal. The inside of the instance will be an outside area with the guild hall in the map. Initially most of the map will be blocked off until upgrades are complete.

Guild hall customization
Each guild hall would start empty. Players can then fill the the hall with items. These items are deployed similar to siege in wvw.
In the guild menu there is a Guild hall tab(more info below), this lists all the items that can be placed into the guild hall and there quantities. When a player clicks place on one of these it creates a deployment bundle. the player can then target a location to place an item. Interacting with the item will allow it to be turned (similar to deployed siege) or picked up and stored in the customization tab. Placing and removing guild hall items should require the “guild hall edit” guild permission. May need to require certain items to be placed outside or inside only.

Acquiring Hall Items
Items deployed in guild hall initially come in item form. Using the item adds the item to the guild hall menu of your currently represented guild. (may need a confirm for accidental placement in wrong guild.)
These items can come from multiple places.

  • Many bosses have a rare chance to drop a memento item that can be placed in the guild hall. (account bound)
  • Crafting disciplines can craft certain common items(like tables, chairs, decoration, etc)
  • Gem store purchases for over the top items( like fireworks, games, etc)
  • Crafting a legendary will give a legendary display item. (Account bound, current legendary owners would get one retroactively)
  • spvp reward tracks.
  • Random drops from key places give decorative and special items. (Example, A Mordremoth vine from Mordremoth minions.)
  • Certain guild upgrades will add special and useful items to the hall. (such as crafting stations, merchants, etc.)
Most of these items can be sold on the BLT but must be used to be placed in build hall.

Upgrading the Guild hall.
Initially the guild hall is little more than a single room. A Guild can upgrade the guild hall tier to increase the size of the hall.
There is also single upgrades that add special rooms to the guild.(such as gardens, forests, mine, crafting room, storage room, etc..)

There are seven tiers for guild halls each one adds additional rooms.
Each requires the same recipe template. (gold + 1,000 wood planks + 1,000 metal ingots) what kind of wood/metal is biased on tier.

Example:
a Tier 4 guild hall would require gold + 1,000 Hard Wood Plank + 1,000 Darksteel ingots. Yes, this means the final tier requires 1,000 Spiritwood and Deldrimor. This tier is for those hardcore guilds. The upgrade will occur as soon as everyone leaves the guild hall. (this should allow for each tier to be a different map and switch between them when upgrading)

In my own opinion any server merging would be a bad idea. Server have prided themselves on being a competitive team. Merging them would only further degrade any server pride.

I think what should happen is the same thing that sets guild wars 2 apart from other mmo’s, Dynamic scaling. The system that allows level 80’s to sill enjoy lv 10 events. It need to be brought to wvw.

My idea is this.
As the difference of players becomes apparent players on lower servers get stacks of outnumbered. (invisible to enemy players of course) Each stack unlocks bonus abilities for the server.

Stacks would be determined by the average of players between the other two servers minus your player total.

20 = 1 stack
40 = 2 stacks
65 = 3 stacks
75 = 4 stacks
90 = 5 stacks

Example
World A has 100 players
World B has 90 players
World C has 70 players

(A+B)/2-C = 25

In this example World C would qualify for 1 stack of outnumbered.

For the abilities here’s my suggestion.
First a new status called “Balanced Force” would be implemented for two of these that gives the target the same damage bonus as Righteous Indignation does but without the invulnerability.

Outnumbered Stacks
1 stack would be the traditional outnumbered buff. (minus armor repair since this is now defunct)

2 stacks would place additional veteran defenders at all captured areas(minus flags). They would be called something unique like “Veteran Equalizer” These veterans would be skilled at AoE Damage and gain “Balanced Force” if there is a player nearby them.

3 stacks would place free ghostly arrow carts on all keeps and towers these carts would disappear when the outnumbered stack diminishes. (if someone is on one of them it disappears when they leave it.)

4 stacks gives all lords “Balanced Force”.

5 stacks gives all players a ghostly ally that supports them in combat(there’s only going to be about 5-10 players on the map at this point.)

These abilities are off the top of my head so there bound to be needing balancing. The idea is to give the outnumbered players powers that balance the game but do not modify their combat abilities or prove more useful than being without outnumbered.

First let me thank you, Konig Des Todes. Your the first in the thread to give me a actual proper argument rather than saying “your wrong” or arguing with other conjecture.

Magic

My theory is that Magic-Dragons-Gods are all tied together.

Now then, Our concept of magic for Guild Wars has always been “wibbly wobbly”. There are many things that have been proven wrong and disputed in this field. My theory of this is that all the magic we have seen so far has been either a combination of one of these six or some sort of other energy that has been affecting it.

The six magic types I believe are (Fire,Life,Chaos,Nature,Water,Death) I tried looking for your types you mentioned but have not found anything on the topic. where did you read this? This is the base of magic. In essence The Chemical Elements to matter.

The orbs you see are the elder dragons, but the light they contain is magic. The light in the center is Tyria, and the light in there is the magic used on Tyria.

Apologizes for the dragon minion comment I said it wrong, I meant to say other dragon’s don’t corrupt other dragon minions. Thanks for the spot, I’ll correct it.

10,000 years ago
This is my theory on how the previous dragon attack happened. Not much evidence is known of that time. Additionally ley lines are a new discovery in guild wars so there’s no telling what has happened with them. What we do know is scarlet, under the control of Mordremoth, deliberately looked for a powerful source of magic ten channel it into the dragon. I believe this was the traditional way to wake up the dragons, although any large source of magic will do it. 10,000 years ago no races had magic(as it was given to the races by the gods at 1BE). So the ley lines was the only source.

Our Dragon attack
There are two confirmed great destroyers in history. The one we fought a second one fought hundreds of years before that. If there are two, a third is very possible. The theory on this is that the Elder Dragon’s can’t wake themselves directly, but need an “alarm clock” So They create champions to wake them.

Primordus’s wiki article refrences multiple Great Destroyers Also as far as I know the only Elder dragon awakenings that where witnessed by anyone where Kralkatorrik (by a char patrol watching the mountain come alive then corrupt them) and Mordremoth(by us during Battle for Lion’s arch)

Scarlet
You said scarlet went into the machine before zhaitan’s death, however I have yet see any concrete evidence either way. We did see scarlet in the Thaumanova fractal, however fractals are full of mistakes and errors as they are not the actual events but echo’s of them. We don’t know if scarlet was there or scarlet was in the fractal with us. She mentions “her work is done here” but she also was taking to us who where not even there.

As for her death, I did not know that passage in Ghost of Ascalon. That would explain the irregularities. So Scarlet is mulch. But now that cave with boat is going to bug me again XD . I’ll strike that from the first post.

Dragon explosion
Unfortunately, I don’t know what it said in Sea of Sorrows book. As far as i know we all we know is dragon’s seem to cause massive damage right after awakening. On the map you can clearly see a massive blast of corruption at glint’s lair.

My Theory is Mordremoth is in the string phase. He has limited control of his powers but has not awoken yet. Similar to Primordus during Eye of the north. This theory will be proven/disproven this season so only time will tell.

Links
white orb = Dwayna = Jormag = Life
red orb = Balthazar = Primordus = Fire
light green orb = Melandru = Mordremoth = Nature
purple orb = Lyssa = Kralkatorrik = Chaos
dark green orb = Grenth = Zhaitan = Death
blue orb= Kormir = bubbles = Water

These links are what was true in the beginning. due Abbadon meddling much of it gotten out of balance. (this is what I believe caused the dragons to rise, to fix the problem Abbadon caused)

If the black orb is zhaitan, why did not not disappear in the cutscene? There are two possibilities of this; either 1)zhaitan is not dead or 2)zhaitan’s orb is not black.

You didn’t mention anything really about the bloodstones in specific and made assumptions about Abbadon.

Jormag’s minions look nothing like the titans. rather they are corrupted mortal creatures or created elementals that only share passing resemblance because of the model similarities.

You also theorize without any support that champions just come out of nowhere. If they can summon them why don’t they just use hundreds of champions to overwhelm us instead of throwing kill-able minions at us?

Still nothing to support your “scarlet is alive” hypothesis that contradicts the devs.

No one knows where Primordius is, so the best guess is that he’s still in the Central Transfer Chamber.

We never saw where Jormag was. The dragon in the lake was a Champion of Jormag.

Zhaitan does not control death as much as any random necromancer controls death.

I can take a closer look at the Mordrem wolf when I find that render, but they look planty to me. They are just as alive as branded or icebrood.

And your last paragraph has nothing to do with anything except your own unfounded theories.

bloodstones: Read the Gw1 wiki articles about bloodstones and abbadon it backs up what I said.

tians: Look at the Gw1 article of titans, it shows a frost titan right there, It looks extremely similar to any icebrood. Additionally the titan theory I said again is biased on the issue with Jormag so more information is needed to solidify either way.

champions: Just because you can build a boat, doesn’t mean you can build a hundred every day, nor have the wood to make it. especially when your sleeping.

Scarlet:I have already laid out all the evidence I had. if you want to argue this point please dispute some of it rather than just saying wrong.

Primordius: There is no telling where he is but It is without a double the volcano was caused by him.

Jormag :read my last post above.

Zhaitan:I would like to see your evidence that Zhaitan is “as much as any random necromancer controls death.”

Mordrem Wolf: http://i.imgur.com/4VDMJpl.jpg http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/6/69/Mordrem_Wolf.jpg In both picture’s it is clear the head is a skull. You can even see a spine and bones in the first.

guys, can we please have some standard formating when presenting speculation?

first, give off your idea, in a concise manner, but still detailed enough that we get your point. THEN you jump to explanations and evidence and supporting theories.

i feel like this would prevent the “TL;DR” problem of many new threads…

I wish they would give us better formatting with these posts. I apologize if there’s a misunderstanding but this was the best way I thought to convey the information. Much of this is very complex and goes through many topics in the guild wars universe. I tried to group things by topic so everything was in order. also much of the information explaining parts is still stuck in the other thread(since it was a springboard for this concept.)

You might want to check your map sometime for Jormag because where he awoke is one big lake now. Don’t you think a Giant Elder dragon of Ice would have frozen at least some of that?

Jormag isn’t even on the map.

Besides Zhaitan, we have no idea where any of the Elder dragons are currently, and we only know where 3 of them woke up. Jormag is not in either of those groups. The only thing we can do. Is guess their position by damage done on the map. In the northern Shiverpeaks there is now a massive lake that was not there 250 years ago. This lake could not have been made by the tsunami caused by zhaitan that created other lakes as there was a mountain where that lake is now, and a wave powerful enough to dissolve the mountain would have likely killed every living thing on tyria.

This lake must have been created by a massively powerful entity. Since Jormag’s lore says he awoke north of Hoelbrak, he fits the bill. Once agian this leads me to the fact that flies in the face of what we know about Jormag. If Jormag created the lake why is not frozen?

There aren’t “six types of magic”, there are four schools.

You completely skipped the bloodstones.
There have already been many threads trying to tie the dragons to the gods, and it never works.
Jormag’s minions are certainly NOT titans.
If the dragons’ champions must wake their masters, which did Kralk fly to Glint and not the other way around?
They have said that Scarlet is dead. No one wants to see her return anyway.
There’s no reason to believe Scarlet had multiple personality disorder.
Primordius is nowhere near that volcano and Jormag (the ice dragon) doesn’t melt things.
Bubbles just did normal dragon stuff that caused them to flee, just like the Asura fled from destroyers and the Norn fled from Jormag’s minions.
Zhaitan doesn’t control death. Grenth does.
Mordremoth’s minions don’t look undead at all. In fact, they’re quite planty and alive.

I’m sorry to say this, but I can’t see any bit of this being accurate.
If the new writers that they have for GW2 write any of this (which completely over-writesGW1 lore) I will never play the game again.

magic “Schools” is an old classification for human magic. It says on the gw2 wiki “Over time, these schools came to be seen as limiting and unfashionable, and only the most ancient magic users still adhere to them.” Additionally the schools where only put into place since they knew of only four bloodstones at the time(they had no idea the fifth one even existed!). As to the bloodstone, it was split into five pieces instead of six was because abaddon did not want to seal the magic, he refused to seal his and the remaining gods dethroned him, and sealed it among the remaining pieces.

Thinking on this I think i was off a bit. I don’t think Jormag is looting Abaddon’s locker for his minions, rather abaddon copied Jormag. Titans where poor copies that couldn’t keep their proper forms. Jormag’s minons keep their proper forms. this is still a weak part as it is theorizing on the fact that Jormag itself is not acting like an ice dragon.

Glint is the black sheep of the dragon champion family her original task was to sabotage the races of Tyria and prepare the world for Kralkatorrik. However, when she peered into the minds of the races of tyria and decided to protect them against the dragons rather than help Kralkatorrik.

My theory is that there are an endless amount of dragon champions (grown, regenerate, or something else) If one is killed another rises soon after.

Once the other dragon’s began to stir, another champion of Kralkatorrik awoke and woke him up instead. Once Kralkatorrik found out what glint had done he rushed south to destroy her.

For scarlet she is dead, or at least the corruption that created scarlet. ceara somehow survived. A multiple personality was hinted at many times throughout the story as a voice taking her over.

Nobody knows where Primordius is, and with how he operates (moving underground) it’s not a long stretch have a Primordius version of the brand underground.

You might want to check your map sometime for Jormag because where he awoke is one big lake now. Don’t you think a Giant Elder dragon of Ice would have frozen at least some of that?

Bubbles is not even on the map. we have no idea what he’s doing or what happened when he awoke. Until we get some lore of bubbles he’s always going to be the mystery dragon.

For someone who does not control death, Zhaitan certainly had a lot of dead under his control.

For Mordrem You can hug the Mordrem wolf first if you think it looks alive. To me it looks like a dead dog that’s been corrupted by plants.

Zhaitan only controlled 20% of magic so the effects of his magic will not be so obvious until the scales tip further out of balance. My guess is a few hundred years or so. That is unless a few more Elder dragons croak

in Lore

zerorogue.9410

Now we get to the problems.

When elder dragons awake, they unleash an explosion of magical

energy.
Primordus created a volcano.
Jormag melted the northern shiverpeaks.
bubbles did something to cause quaggans and krait to escape the

oceans. Kralkatorrik corrupted a large line of the map before exploding

the magic at glint’s lair.
Zhaitan rose orr.

This means Mordremoth has not yet awoken and a large cataclysm is

very near that will signify the dragon’s awakening.

Additionally, with zhaitan dead no one can control the death(dark

green) magic and is now going out of control in the mists.

Mordremoth and Tequalt have taken a part of the magic to increase

their own power. This is why Mordremoth’s minions look undead

like. Without a elder dragon the dark green magic will continue

to corrupt everything.

The orbs and Celestial space
in the new cutscene we see orbs surrounding a center orb. This is

the universe of tyria as seen from “celestial space”. This is why

it looks so similar to the map in gw1 of the realm of torment as

the map we saw showed the celestial space of the realm as it did

not have enough physical space to warrant a standard map.

The orbs around the outside are the containers of the 6 magic’s

(the elder dragons).
They in turn are taken care of by one of the six gods.
white orb = Dwayna = Jormag
red orb = Balthazar = Primordus
light green orb = Melandru = Mordremoth
purple orb = Lyssa = Kralkatorrik
dark green orb = Grenth = Zhaitan
blue orb= Kormir = bubbles

The irregular one in the list is the white orb. Why is the god of

warmth watching over the magic of cold? A bigger question is why

did the awakening of Jormag cause the shiverpeaks to melt? This

is because Jormag’s minions are beings of life. They are giving

life to what’s around them (they are the titans from gw1!) We

have only seen them in the shiverpeaks so we only see them as

ice. if Jormag minions would move into another area they would

change to match that area. The Sons of Svanir know nothing of

this and think Jormag is just an ice dragon as snow is the only

thing it has available to it.

To sum up the key parts:
6 Types of magic(Fire,Life,Chaos,Nature,Water,Death)
6Elder Dragons balance magic by consuming magic of their type.
Ceara is still alive and helping us as “E”
The magic Zhaitan had is now lose and corrupting the mists.
Mordremoth is not awake yet but will soon with a massive

explosion of nature magic.
Jormag’s minons are titans and they adapt to what area there in.

A light bulb popped up in my head a few hours after posting my previous thread here

It’s all connected! So I wrote up a bit of a theory on this.

There are 6 types of magic, this magic must be in balance otherwise everything becomes unwound.
There is a system to maintain magic on tyria so it does not go out of balance.
the gods are the caretakers of the 6 kinds of magics.
If the magic ever becomes too out of balance the elder dragons awake to rebalance it by consuming all magic of their type, go to sleep, and slowly re-releasing it. This is why dragon’s don’t attack other dragon minions, because they are not their type. This is why dragon minions can’t corrupt other dragon’s minions, because there is no magic of their type inside.

in the previous dragon attack 10,000 years ago:
-gods take care of Tyria
-a magic unbalance is detected causing one of their champions to rise.
-gods disappear as their dragons wake.
-the champion finds a ley line hub that intersects with their elder dragon.
-the elder dragon is awoken by their champion.
-dragons absorb all magic on Tyria
-once all magic is absorbed the dragons fall to sleep and begin -slowly releasing the magic they consumed.
-gods return.

This would be the normal cycle of things.

our dragon attack:
-gods take care of tyria
-Dhuum is defeated by Grenth and a small amount of green magic is released.
-the magic unbalance is detected causing one of their champions to rise.(The first great destroyer)
-great dwarf defeats great destroyer.
-gods balances out the magic before another champion awakes.
-Abaddon refused to keep the balance and the other gods stopped him.
-Abaddon takes revenge on gods for trapping him.(nightfall)
-the other gods choose Kormir to be the next god.
-Kormir takes over for Abaddon
-Kormir tries to reverse the damage but too much magic has been released.
-the gods disappear.
-Second Great destroyer awakes and is defeated(EOTN)
-a third great destroyer awakes and succeeds in awakening Primordus.
-remaining elder dragons awake
-Zhaitan is killed and releases his magic causing a great unbalance.
-Ceara uses Omadds machine.
-Ceara saw that the death of Zhaitan has caused a great disturbance in the balance.
-Mordremoth spots her in the mists and corrupts her into scarlet.
-Ceara became two personalities Scarlet and Ceara. Scarlet being dominant.
-Ceara tries to stop Scarlet, she succeeds in causing some chaos in her plans, but each time scarlet just tries again.
-She instead sends a letter to the hero of the pact under the name of “E” to warn him/her of what she’s going to do.
-scarlet becomes Mordremoth’s champion and awakes the elder dragon.

First. Scarlet is dead, but Ceara is still alive. In the Battle for Lion’s Arch cutscene you can see strange veins on scarlet’s face this is her body regenerating. After we escape she awakes free of scarlet. She uses a secret escape route that drops her into the ocean where she ends up in a nearby cave. (the secret cave that appeared right after.) Now that she’s free, she wants to stop Mordremoth but what she has done no one will forgive her for, so she instead continues to warn us about Mordremoth as “E”. Dis-proven thanks, Konig Des Todes

Compare the orb colors to the six Zones in the Infinite Coil Reactor…

Bonus points for Zone Blue still being under construction. If that ever changes…

There’s a problem with that since there is no “black orb”

I did my guessing biased on the color of the magic the elder dragons or their minions emitted.

destroyers glow red
Icebrood have white frost
Zhaitan magic is dark green.
bubbles is unknown.
Branded bleed purple energy.
Mordremoth is unknown. (since we haven’t seen any “magic” used by his minions yet)

I still can’t break the feeling that the “Eternal Alchemy” is connected to the Realm of Torment.

I thought the same thing when i saw the drawing in S2E1. It’s not the same design though. I suspect that the Realm of torment map we saw in GW1 was a map of how it looks From a whole. The one we saw in Gw2 was tyria’s map on the same scale.

Cutscene:Huge Realization[Spoilers]

zerorogue.9410

I’ve been looking over the theories of the ending cut-scene when I had a sudden spark of realization. The first part of the cutscene(the part with the pale tree) was for this living story, while the other part was hinting at a later threat(season 3 probably)

I’ll try to bold the important parts

The reasoning because of this is the theory the orbs surrounding the center is the Elder Dragons(6 orbs 6 dragons). In the video we see each orb activate one after another.

Red>blue>White>Green>Purple>Light green

Biased on profiles of the dragons we can tell immediately red is Primordus, and purple is Kralkotorrik. Green and light green is Zhaitan or Mordremoth. White and Blue is Jormag or Bubbles. With these established one can theorize that the order they start up in is the order they awake.

Primordus>Jormag>Deep Sea Dragon(bubbles)>Zhaitan>Kralkotorrik>Mordremoth

The only x factor is bubbles. Nothing is known about him. Now here’s first step in my theory. Each orb represents the magic each dragon has If this is true the white orb would belong to Jormag. Leaving the blue one to bubbles or the deep sea dragon This leaves Green to Zhaitan and Light Green to Mordremoth

With this established we can take on the biggest part of my theory.

We saw the green orb being smashed into the center It would have been when Zhaitan was defeated.

It’s been repeated time and time again.
“Dragons have long been thought to be as much a part of Tyria as the sun, moon, land, and seas. " ~The Nature of Dragons" by Ogden Stonehealer

This would have been the first time an elder dragon was killed

My theory is this.
The dragons where destructive forces of nature that balanced out each other. However with zhaitan dead, the magic of zhaitan is now bleeding out into the mists. and if not stopped it will destabilize all of existence.

The major sign of this is Tequatl gaining strength. Arena Net has said themselves has a lore reason for it. I believe as a champion of Zhaitan he has had “first dibs” on the magic that came out when Zhaitan died.

Just spotted your post, I posted another thread as well. This is really disheartening to have happen.

One of my most memorable things about the Labyrinthine Cliffs was when me and group of friends found a path up the mast of the giant airship and onto the “crow’s nest” It took us so long and it took a large amount of cooperation to get there.

It is without of doubt one of my top five favorite times I’ve had in guild wars.

Now that Labyrinthine Cliffs I decided to climb the tower again to see if something has changed. Unfortunately It had, half way up we discovered that the top half of the tower was no longer solid and It would be impossible to continue.

Why did you have to remove it? There was no advantage to get up there. The game did not break if someone stood up there. Even if you did not plan to add anything up there, there was no reason to remove it!

I am really upset about this. I understand you want to keep players in the intended areas but finding new ways to enjoy games is what gives games life. If your players figure out how to do something that you didn’t think of, Improve on that. Put a chest up there, or if money’s an issue, put a npc up there that congratulates them on their hard work. Don’t just go and punish them for finding something new.

Please Arena Net Return the nest to it’s former glory.
Thank you for listening.

I hope they will fix this soon

Crafting with skill points

zerorogue.9410

Skill points are a very valuable item, and there are many path’s you can take to turn them into cash. All of them(or at least all I can remember currently) happen at the mystic forge.

The three I know of are, Material Promotion, Siege Promotion, and Eldritch Weapon crafting.

Remember:
Check prices of things before buying materials to craft. (Gw2 Spidy can help with that)
Make sure to calculate tax. (Buy Price/0.85= total cost +BLTtax)

Material Promotion
Buy some T5 rare crafting material such as a Charged Cores combine it with Bottles of Elonian Wine, Piles of Crystalline Dust, and Crystals(skillpoints)
and get T6 exotic crafting materials out of it. Keep in mind this market is farmed heavily and prices are competitive so check your prices well.

Siege Promotion
Take some regular blueprints with Mithril Ore and Elder Wood Logs(note this is the raw version not the Ignots/Planks) Plus a Siege Masters Guide(skillpoints) and get superior versions out of them. These can then be sold. on the market. Also is handy if you play WvW

Eldritch Weapon crafting
Check here for recipies: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Eldritch_Scroll
Get the materials together and Craft one with the Scroll(costs 50 skillpoints) they come from requiring just a few easy to get materials, to requiring Legendary gifts.

Also Keep in mind Legendary weapons cost around 339 skill points to get(if you have the insanity to go for one).

Game Updates: Traits

The next trait was “Bunker Down”. I have yet to understand whether I made a mistake or some bug, but when I checked for it’s location I swear it said “Defeat the Risen High Wizard and secure the Promenade of the Gods”. So I ported back to the temple as an engineer this time. lucky enough this time the event has not yet been completed and I was able to defeat the risen wizard. At that point I discovered my mistake.

I decided to switch to getting “Invigorating Precision” for my thief. This required me to “Defeat the Risen Priest of Grenth.” and although my thief did not have island the temple was on I had the nearby waypoint on the main land of orr.
Upon arriving in the area for the meta event I notice the defense event was just about to complete. This meant that not only would I not be able to see if the defense event would actually reward the trait but I would have to wait over half an hour for the next defense event. I did not want to wait so I parked my thief in a secluded place and moved on, hoping I could come back later and finish it.

I still wanted to try for “Bunker Down” but unfortunately It would be the same issue as for “Invigorating Precision”. “Defeat the Risen Priest of Grenth.” This was before they patched the defense issue for the temple of Grenth and Melandru and I still didn’t want to wait just to see if it was possible to get the defense.

The final trait I attempted for was “Gadgeteer”. That would require “Defeat the corrupted high priestess of Lyssa” and once again I had no assurance that completing the defense would reward the trait. So I Moved to the temple and found that someone had previously completed it, and I waited for the defense, and waited, and waited. Over an hour passed and I started to worry. No event. Eventually I had to give up, with no way to move to another server or even the knowledge if the defense mission would even reward the trait. This was a few hours ago.

If you didn’t read my story please do, otherwise please continue reading here.

I tried to get, Six traits, through these events.
I had to buy two of them.
I only unlocked two through these events, and one of them I didn’t even want.
In fact the only trait I unlocked that I wanted was the “Experimental Turrets”, the only one that didn’t require waiting to get.

I have a vast length of patience with arena net, this mainly comes from my love for the first guild wars game. However I find this trait unlock system the sloppiest, most unbalance, illogical, unthoughtful, poorly made feature you have EVER made. I hang my head in shame that this was released in it’s current state. When I heard about this I thought this would be a major improvement that would increase repeatability and enjoyment in the game. Honestly it seemed that no one even took the time to think this feature out, or even did a good job of QA.

I don’t mind working for unlocks, I rather enjoy it, but when I am blocked by waiting for events to start, broken events, and ambiguous information. I can only fear for the future of the game.

Please Arena Net, Fix this feature, Make the locations of these unlocks exact. Please make the required always available or rapidly restart. Make sure they don’t break leaving players without any chance to complete it, and finally NEVER release such a terrible release ever again.

Thank you for reading this. I will continue to support and hope only the best for Guild Wars 2 in the years to come.

zerorogue.9410

I’m really beginning to hate the new traits. Not for the traits themselves but for the process of unlocking them.

This is the story of what has happened between me and getting the traits over the last week.
It’s patch day, and after unlocking all my skins, redeeming my transmutation charges, and testing out a few of the new features, I got down to business, getting the new traits. The first one was obvious to me, “Read the Wind”. Once I read this one on the preview I knew immediately it was perfect for my ranger.

To get it I had to “Defeat the Risen High Wizard and secure the Promenade of the Gods”, Simple enough. So I jumped to cursed shore, or I would have if my ranger had been there yet. In fact the closest way point is next to fort trinity in Straits of Devastation. So Began my trek through the Straits of Devastation , through Malchor’s Leap, through Cursed Shore, and up to the steps of Arah. Arah was completed. I remembered what I heard before, that nothing in the game will encourage players to fail events. So the defense event should reward the trait the same as the attack event right?

How wrong I was… After a half an hour of waiting the event began, and although I did get a small pile of riches, I had no trait. This made me immediately realize that either the unlock was broken, they forgot to add the defense event in, or (I dread) they have gone back on the decision to prevent rewards for failed events.

As this is the only way to unlock the trait except for paying gold and skill points, I’ll unfortunately have to buy the skill point.

A bit later and I attempt to get the second trait. “Experimental Turrets” This one should be very easy, “Find the grand chest in the Ship of Sorrows.” I clicked the telescope and it centered on the “Plaza of Lost Wisdom”. That’s not a ship, but it is showing there. I jump over and begin to search. I soon happen upon several other players at the plaza who are also trying to find the chest. An event there has us defend Explorer Rokk and Scholar Rolla as they try to open a chest on the sea floor. Could this be the chest? I doubted it since it was not a “grand chest” but many players where sure this was it. Sure enough both event’s completed without a grand chest spawning. Afterwards I began searching the outskirts of the plaza for some hidden chest.

A few minutes later I had returned to the plaza unsuccessful. Many of the players where still in the area and trying to repeat the event. I decided to go to the wiki at this point and found that the ship of sorrows was NOT in the plaza but rather further west. I announced this to the other players and we moved to the ship and successfully found the chest.

The third trait I wanted was “Fortified Turrets”. However this required me to kill the queen karka. The second i read this I moaned, I knew how hard it was before the patch to kill this karka let alone to get people to agree to do it. So I hoped the new megaserver system would make it much easier. Unfortunately I wouldn’t find out since the Karka had just been killed a few minutes ago and with the new event system It would be hours to wait for the karka to return. So once again I had to buy it.

At this point my engineer was completely drained of skill points so purchasing them was no longer an option.

Yep, Just buy gw1 and eotn. It should only take a few months to get all 30 points for all the items.

You can find Gw Prophecies and eotn really cheap online although I would highly suggest getting a new sealed copy of the game as a used version is worthless(since you cant reuse CD keys). That should be enough to get the rifle, although I would suggest getting the trilogy and eotn for the full gw1 experience(and much easier to get hom pts).

Guild Wars 1 Played more like a online Rpg rather than a mmo, with 99% of the game solo-able. If you get the trilogy play night fall and you get heroes that you can customize and will replace players. Eye of the north will also have heroes just not as many.

You can see what you need to do on the HOM calculator (http://hom.guildwars2.com)
You get 3 pts automatically by linking the gw1 account to gw2.

I did a quick look and worked out a basic todo list for 14 pts. that can be done with Prophecies and eotn.
-1 rare minipet (buy from a player)
-Any hero armor(Play Glint’s Challenge in the Central Transfer Chamber to get hero armor)
-black widow spider (found in underworld)
-Complete Prophecies
-Get any 3 premium armor sets
-get any destroyer weapon.

It’s a bit costly but you can work out your own plan.

Time is needed to figure out what needs to change and what needs to stay the same. Some things players are complaining about should not be fixed. while other things have legitimate reasons to change. It would be nice if we could get a “we’re working on it”, but working carefully is much better than rushing out a fix that would just make things worse.

As for mega-patches these are actually better in a programming since the QA can lock down multiple issues that could have been put to the public. Put it simple What’s better? Having a lot of bugs at once then bug free for months, or bugs all the time as new things are added?

At first I wondered if I had somehow gotten another player’s inventory. However upon further inspection I suspect this is some sort of default or test display. Team Fortress 2 has this system currently(changed when standard RNG left players w/o drops for months) rather than rolling for a drop you roll for how long before a drop.

I think this can be used in an MMO but it cant be used with time being the only factor(as the afk factor will give you, and such the reason why people idle in tf2)

It would have to do is some combination of time and drops. Like after 100 drops and two hours it increases your drop chances.

I belive Zoom hack has been said to be 1 legit feature that u can obtain by just playing with some settings; I presume u are talking about godlike as some1 that cannot be finished by stomping, this is just a desync problem, u’ll have to kill him/her buy just attacking him.

Zoom hacking as in the player’s character showing up in a certain spot but not actually being there so that even tho you are directly in front of them it constantly says “Out of Range” or “Miss” or whatever but yet they can hit you all they want. I call it zoom hacking wouldn’t know the proper name if any. And zoom hacking is not a legit feature, its an exploit. And godlike is when you come across a character that you do enormous amounts of damage to but their hp bars never lose and hp. Some say this is lag but it’s not lag when you see them jump off a cliff or they are plagued with stacks of conditions or just being hammered down but yet their health never moves. And it’s actually called permanent invulnerability which the devs can put their characters into by using a dev code.
And ive never had an issue with the stomping errors, rezzing i have not stomping so I wouldnt know about that.

Actually a zoom hack is an hack that unlocks your camera’s zoom limits allowing you to go first person or as far away from your character as you want. Normally this is not that critical of an hack, however with arrow carts able to shoot through solid objects a player can attack enemies with an arrow cart from positions which would be impossible to hit.

What your speaking of sounds like lag or some sort of a health hack(although I have yet to see one in game) .

There is much that can be done with the commander system to improve it.

The first and most important in my mind is changing how to get the tag(or adding in additional methods) 100gold pushes many good potential commander’s away from attempting to try their hand with the blue chip. Personally I believe commander should be something you eventually get as long as you invest enough time in guild wars.

Suggested New Methods to Get the Commander Book
-comes in every Massive Achievement Chest.
-Meta Achievement that rewards the book(complete each world boss, capture stone-mist x times, etc..)
-Crafting it. (Gift of mastery + something else?)

For the Commander system itself the squad system is in desperate need of a revamp, as well as commander commands(something many commanders don’t even know about) Additionally I would like to see a hierarchy that would allow one squad to command in multiple tasks and work hand in hand with parties.

Squad suggestions
-new squad menu that displays each player on the commander’s screen by a profession icon.
-If players are in a party their icon turns blue and is grouped with fellow party members. (if not all party members are in the squad it puts a +x at the end of the group of players for each not in the squad.)
-Commander can select a party in his squad and give it orders, (click the party group or hot-key then call target or set a way-point on the map. )
-Commanders can designate captains in the squad that will have a smaller icon visible to those in the squad.

Finally I would like to see a alternate guild Commander, (something researched through the guild ui) that works similarly to the standard commander with the exception that only guild members can see it.

find someone to agree on a special price, then quickly list and buy via the trading post.

I wouldn’t suggest this as it can get sniped even in the seconds between list and buy.

Like all other Precursors there are a lot of people looking to buy them and you are not the only one hoping they can get one cheaper.

Crafted Precursors are supposed to be coming by the end of the year this will lower the price of them by some degree, how much is up to the grocery list on making one.

The best thing you can do at this point is either try to get it yourself (through mystic forge or drops) or put a buy order in and wait till it’s filled (if ever).

Asking on the forums is just an easy way to get scammed.

Clock Tower v2.0. Let the tears flow!

Clock Tower Tribulation Mode

Rivers, rivers of tears.

Don’t even disgrace a content like Halloween with mentioning it next to SAB.

You do know that the same guy made both jump puzzles?

What is the point of karma consumables now?

I can understand why it is,
Karma boosters affect any karma you get minus the consumables.
How do you visually tell between boost-able karma and non boost-able karma?

Secondly is the level issue, a jug of karma gives a different value on a lv20 than a lv80.
So removing the jugs would make that account reward of karma you got on your lv20 worth a lot less than if you could transfer then use it on your lv80.

The Karma consumables need to be removed, but not before they can rework it to a better system.

Speaking of useless clicking though Why did they make the essences of luck a consumable??? There’s no boosters, no level scale, no reason why you should automatically get the luck as far as I can see…

Might I make a suggestion, It would seem you have your audio track and video cues separate from each other. (both play at the same time and hopefully they stay synced)

Instead can you have it so the video track cue’s each line of audio. (in time with the subtitles is often the best.) This way each time before each subtitle appears the voice over for that part of the cut-scene is played.

This should greatly improve quality and low end machines as well as anyone getting desynced, as they are resynced at each audio cue. Plus, if they ever get desynced it’s not as obvious as the game will wait for the next cue before playing the next voice over.

Spoiler Video?

What you’re seeing is the rest of the Vexx’s Lab jumping puzzle.

Not exactly, It was supposed to be a 5th puzzle in Caledon Forest, but was scrapped before release. Perhaps, too many puzzles in same map? too difficult? you’ll have to ask Anet about that.
