Time gates can be a good thing, if done correctly. The idea is to slope into the time gate so that the casual players are not bothered by it but those farmaholics still get held back.
One thing I would like to see in guild wars is variables time gates. Essentially
Doing time gated things more often = longer wait times
Doing time gated things occasionally = less wait times.
An example would be the bonus chests, if you haven’t killed the frost maw in 3 days then the next time you defeat it you get the 2 chests while those who defeat it every day are still stuck on once a day.
As you may have notice you still don’t get as much as you would have if you farmed it every day, but it allows those who don’t to get better rewards.
I see this as all sorts of failure.
First up the issue of the temple.
The actual shrine to Balthazar is near the Balthazar waypoint. Yes his statue used to be down there but I’m fairly certain the human god of warfare doesn’t mind having a secondary shrine replaced by an arena.
It wasn’t an oversight. There wasn’t any need for the second, smaller shrine down there.
I took a look today to find this “shrine” you speak of, and to the best of me I can’t find it. The only thing that is near that way-point is a lone statue. The other god’s (minus Dwayna because the never ending circus is in town) have temples along with the statue. (see attached picture) Lyssa even has two! This means Balthazar, one of the major gods in the first game has nothing but a statue in divinity’s reach.
Simply put, to remove it was a major mistake.
Additionally the decision on placement had to be a horrible failure. If someone where to tear down a church to build a subscription only shopping district in real life, there would be massive outrage. If Balthazar would see this I’m sure he would level the entire area with fire. (New living story :o ??)
The thing that has got me upset the most is I can think of tons of better locations than this!
-Opposite side of the pavilion where there is nothing but shrubs and filler. This would be the best “fix” location as it would only require to mirror the Royal Terrance then move it over.
-On the lower floors of the pavilion that are currently reachable via teleport door but have no use.
-In the upper city. There’s plenty of open space in there.
-create a balcony on the inner or outer wall. you already use a teleport field to block people from entering.
-Hovering under the eagle, above the pit. That would look like an epic era if your looking for exclusivity.
I can’t see why you would have chosen this location for a premium area. When choosing a premium location you want a place that people would want to enter. Not just for convenience but for the fact they can be there. I would explain more but it would double this post
I hope you can see the issues with this choice and move the royal Terrance to a less controversial location where everyone can be happy with it.
Anet is essentially building a collection of events that will occur every year. Such as Wintersday Halloween, Queen’s Jubilee and Dragon Bash. This way they can reuse 90% of the props and add more to it at the same time. A very good thing as long as they do the “add to it” part.
Although I’m glad they gave us an outlet for these now useless items. I am very upset by the fact I just tossed all my excess items yesterday after the voting closed as I thought it would be as useful as the other temporary items left in game.
Please next time Anet; >>>tell us when you are going to do this!<<< not notifying us just punishes players rather than rewarding us.
Hrm.. I wonder if someone here can clarify this. On the Wiki (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_Forge_Stone) it says you can get any kind of item back when you use mystic forge stones. In other words if you throw 3 daggers and a stone you can get an accessory or armor piece back. Is this true?
Wiki is your friend

The Achievement goes on forever, however you get 2ap each time you salvage up to a max of 250.
It all depends on your point of view.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/cutthroat/IMO-ArenaNet-favors-Evon-Unfair/first#post2473277
as Anet put it, it would invalidate the entire election. Those who won got their selection over those who lost. Why even do this whole thing if there just going to make both of them?
Also, I’m sure the dungeon development team doesn’t have time to do both maps. I’m ball-parking it since I don’t know how they make maps in Gw2, but it is likely to take about three months to make it.
The main problem with this is the fact the Tyria we see is a very small part of the globe. Essentially USA to our globe. There’s no real reason to render all the remaining continents if no one can go to them..
This might be a good idea once we reach other continents but not now..
Although, this on a site would be pretty cool. even though about 80% has yet to be named or reference in game.
The chat system goes crazy over the strangest of things. I often help people through areas(such as jump puzzles.), however if i try to say in map chat that we’re helping too many times it often blocks me.(and I’m usually messaging once every 5 minutes.)
I found if you never repeat what you say or type small messages it seems to keep it from dropping the ban hammer.
Seriously though this is all an over complicated solution. Want to block excessive messaging? Here’s how.
1)block messages from any user that messages more than x times within y seconds.
that simple…
The wallet is a wonderful idea, and is not the problem here. The Problem is the fact the black lion trader is in need of an update. Poor filters, poor design, limited to 250, alot of glitches/disconnects.
If the black lion just had a click and wait system, something most major online retailers do it would not be a problem.
One click on buy/sell it locks the button and waits for a communication from the server. if the transaction goes through it comes back green otherwise it comes back red. Either way the player can keep themselves from double clicking.
Don’t blame the new horse just because he’s pulling a wagon with a broken wheel.
What MMO doesn’t have fishing? This mmo…..
Just kidding.
Fishing I think would be a great idea. You can have certian fish for food recipies. craft the fish for an ability to get crafting materials such as scales and blood. And as mentioned it’s a good break from fighting.
I can see this totally being a living story update too. Quaggan fishing tourney?
Seriously though, if this happens anet needs better writers.
Sedition Inhibitors
Sedition Inhibitors
Sedition Inhibitors
(anyone who’s ever crafted in rata sum is cringing right now)
And if someone where to remove these Sedition Inhibitors?
so the portal gun for a few points of karma is the superior item?!
Portal gun actually costs 32 copper, Personally I hold that a bit higher than karma. Karma is about 10/1 to copper for me.
More clarification:
- It’s an artificer recipe
- You can trade the output of the recipe between characters on your account
- The recipe makes a one-time use item, it does not unlock a new skill
- This is not going to replace a mesmer in your party
Still I don’t see any point or use to this item. There are plenty of things in the game already that can be used. while any significant cost will make this item unwanted even if it was better than the regular portal, and from what your saying it’s going to be worse.
As a jump puzzle enthusiast I treat the entire game world as a jump puzzle. I’m always climbing on buildings, getting onto cliffs, and sneaking into story-mode spots. I would believe this item would be best for one of my position but from what I’ve heard I cant see this being very useful.
This item needs to be either very cheap (<50 copper) or unlimited uses. Otherwise this will just fade away into the sea of items just like the mini moa egg from Kappa (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Moa_Trainer_Kappa)
There will be an achievement for finding all hot air balloons in Tyria.
One of them will be somewhere in WvW. I’m calling it.
Lol I can see this too…
Watchknight’s will go berserk and we have to defeat them.
Seriously though, if this happens anet needs better writers.
I’m hoping for a peaceful event where we don’t have to kill everything. Variety is the name of the game more variety we get the better the game will be.
Now, while on the topic Anyone else wanna make a prediction for the event?
While I don’t mind Time-gates. I believe they should not be the only way to get through.
For instance the daily rewards you a jug of karma and a mystic coin. The Karma can be gotten just about anywhere, and you can buy coins on the trader. You will spend extra effort and gold instead of the time gate.
crystals however show an example of a time gate I don’t like. The only way to get charged crystals is to once a day charge one from 25 crystals. This means if anyone want’s a full celestial set. They would need to wait 60-65 days (30 armor + 25trinkets + (5 or 10) weapons)! If charged crystal’s where on the trakitten layers could bypass this wait for gold.
Time gate’s are fine and can help those who don’t farm 24/7 but without a additional gate they become troublesome.
Remember the definition of farming(game wise) is doing the same thing over and over in order to reap it’s rewards.
I can see this portal device becoming ignored by most of the community.
The main reason the portals are used is to bring allies to locations that would be hard or inaccessible to them at their current location. With WvW out of the picture there’s no keep portaling(a good thing anyways) nor portaling in obsidian sanctum.
Beyond this I don’t think there are very many other reasons to use this portal. Let alone one that “takes considerable resources to manufacture.” Additionally, the fact if they really wanted a portal they would have used a mesmer.
For me I will likely never use this unless the cost is minimal (under a silver per use)
Perhaps make it unlimited uses but double the recharge in comparison to the mesmer portal?
All of your tokens in your inventory and bank will be automatically added to your wallet after the update goes live
Sorry I don’t have any screenshots of the wallet, you’ll just have to wait until next Tuesday.
Won’t this break the golden achievement? or will the achievement count towards the wallet total now?
Also awesome new feature btw.
They went further to than the Moon. I’m fairly certain a green skinned one headed the Jedi Council..
my god… IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!
Indeed it does. It even dresses up for Halloween.
Oh! Maybe the asurans are on the moon, and they decorate it every Halloween for fun.
We need an asuran moon base dungeon/fractal to find out!
So The asurans have,
Fully Automatic Golems
Death Lasers
Aqua bases
Lava bases
Force-fields
Nuclear Power(radiation field)
Anti-gravity fields
Holograms
So why haven’t the asurans gone to the moon yet? They had the technology for it for like hundreds of years?
Any ideas why they haven’t? Perhaps they just don’t see a point?
It’s all under the lid currently, We know new legendaries and ascended armor are coming soon but not many additional details have came out yet.
We do know it it will involve the new lv500 crafting, and it will be limited to creating 1 item per type per day.
Big tip here, you can get Orichalcum level harvesting tools for very little karma if you know where to look!
if you have cursed shore on a character, Lightbringer Ives in Caer Shadowfain sells Orichalcum Harvesting Sickles for 350 Karma.
If not you can get a Foraging Sickle from Cesseilia near Whisperwill Bogs in Bloodtide Coast for 658 Karma. It works exactly like the Orichalcum Sickles.
That is most likely Lionguard trident. (as it follows the lionguard motif) Lion guard weapons can be bought with karma in lions arch. I know there is a trader at top of the tower next to the laurel vendor in Fort mariner. As for a bug I don’t know about any. But your best chance is to go check there…
you are not playing a ghost very well if the person has time to get away…
After 20 kakra kills I have yet to let a single person get away. It is crazy OP.
I’m speaking from the other end here. I’ve had the karka spawned on me numerous times and got away each time. I did have to dodge one or twice but still successful.
It would seem you misunderstood what I said.
First off, I don’t speak for the community nor intend to. It does not take a official poll to know people want rare items, and for Guild Wars 2 Legendaries are as rare as they get.
Secondly, I am not speaking of personal experience, I have not attempted to acquire a precursor yet. Again It should not need to said, precursor items drop very rarely. I don’t think any right minded individual would dispute that.
What I was remarking on, strangely being the one thing you ignored in my argument. Was the fact if you removed these precursors It would only benefit that small percentage of the community that has legendaries, and would further to invalidate all the efforts of those who have yet to acquire one.
The fact is this is all a case of trying to shoot the fox before it even reaches the farm. We don’t know what’s going to happen within the next six months, we only know that they are going to be a more visible path to legendaries. A path that will require a time sink. It could take 3 days to get a precursor, or 3 years. Without additional details this entire argument is invalid.
you hear that loud booming noise behind you? no?
you see that large shadow looming over you? no?
you see that giant karka slowly crawl out of the ground? no?
Then maybe it’s not the skill that’s not working correctly.
The general idea of it is when you see the karka drop what your doing and run for it!. It gives you plenty of time to get out of aggro range before the karka becomes active. I just wish you could control it to some degree….then agian THAT would be op
If anet added third party candidates I would give him all my shinnies!
Might I suggest some realistic goals?
-first 4 weeks of improved gold find! MORE SHINNIES!!!
-Research into the fractial: The Final Shiny War. That depicts the last war between shiny hoarding asurans and the noble skritt!
-Adding a new minigame “Shiny Vs Shiny Vs Shiny”
where three teams of skritt(players) fight on a map littered with shinnies (environmental weapons) each team must secure them before the competitors do. Each player has no skills and must rely on the environmental weapons to stop enemy skritt. Each shiny captured causes a skirtt follow the player and access to non-combative skritt skills. at 5 skritts you gain the superpowerful “For the Shinnies!” skill that causes all your skritt to go berserk on any enemy skritt that are holding a shiny.
my guess is that anything with the legendary “skin” (looks like a legendary weapon) will be converted into the new legendary format. This means if you transmuted your legendary it will just revert back to it’s original form with the option to change the stats.
Yeah, this would only punish those who have not been lucky enough to get a precursor yet. Not to mention pretty much guarantee you’ll never get one of the current legendaries ever again.
If you think legendaries are already expensive try buying twilight when it’s 21,290 gold and that’s the only way your going to find it because dusk is 20k gold.
This is not needed, not wanted by ~80% of the community, and smells of elitism. In simpler terms. NO.
It would seem Arena Net wants to reward our work with a way to remember our exploits. And I’m perfectly fine with that. Such Items as [Marjory’s Journal] and [Zephyr Sanctum Model] that give a cut-scene but take up an inventory space.
My idea is the My Living Story tab. A new part of the My Story tab in the hero panel. In it will describe each living story the player had participated in. I quickly made up an example image below.
Once a player has completed a certain achievement additional information is added. Such with the example in the image once the player has completed the “Rage Against the War Machine” achievement the last paragraph appears. Completing “Alliance Breaker” gives the item to the right that allows the player to play a short cut-scene from that living story. Such as the into cut-scene of the two bosses in the molten facility.
Additionally there can be a withdraw button(not shown) that would create a copy of a special item from the event. Such as the [Sample Detector] from The Secret of Southsun.
Next, a reward button(not shown) that can be used to with draw a skin of the achievement reward item from the event. such as
[Holographic Shattered Dragon Wing Cover] These would be skins that can only be gained by achievements, not trade-able ones.
Lastly, this would be the home for checking what you did with the no longer available living story achievements with the “achievements” button that would bring up a page similar to the current achievement panel.
If we’re going to have releases every two weeks it wont be long till we could filled over with small trinket items that players would like to keep, however do not want to waste space to store them.
I have an theory on this. My guess is that trinket legendaries will be the “poor man’s legendary” where you don’t get a skin but still get all the other special effects. My guess is that these legendaries will have some sort of visual effect but not as much as a full legendary. e.g. sparkling hands, leaving leaf/feather trails, glowing auras.
As such these legendaries will require less to make them.
Example
Flowerstone – Legendary accessory
Creates petals coming off of the character
Recipe: Gift of Mastery + Gift of Magic + Gift of Energy + Tortured Root
This looks more like a bug than an easter egg.
Man, why does everybody talk in abbreviations all the time in this game. Sorry but what the heck is PTR?
Test Server and yeah, I had to look this up as well…
I think it’s worth mentioning the Sky-pirates update introduced a bug in the Goemm’s Lab Jump puzzle that could get players perma-banned by falling in the wrong place.
A test server would allow the community to put new content through the ringer and get it ironed out before it hits the live servers.
Calling the humans of GW1 invaders makes less sense then calling current Americans invaders of North America.
I think he’s speaking of the theory that humans came to tyria from another planet.
Orr Wise it is a certainty that some orrians survived the cataclysm, while the explosion did not leave much time to escape, some may have evacuated due to the impending charr invasion force while some may have been out of the country during the event.
The actual amount and their existence over the past 250 years but it’s very likely a few humans have some orrian blood in them.
I am glad this was caught and an it was resolved. (otherwise I may have never done that puzzle again ) I know what bug you where speaking of and have done it a few times myself, (a few by accident and a few to break out of the map for fun and exploration) I myself like to find locations where you are not supposed to be and have found spots in nearly every map.
So when I find that people where automatically permanently banned for doing what was possible with intended effect of skills it makes very concerned with if I will be banned in a same way someday. Being that this is the first incident of it I have heard of since launch does console me. However, I must ask, was there any review by any admin before these ban’s where implemented?
I can understand temporary bans by detections but when your talking about permanently banning an account, that’s fifty dollars + gem purchases + hours spent playing. Now I have no sympathy for botters or cheaters and believe they should receive the fullest extent of the ban hammer. My concern is for these players who are wrongly banned.
As you have said you’ve taken action against 10,000 accounts in this month alone, how can you know all 10,00 where not false positives? I understand double-checking all 10,000 accounts would be daunting task. I only ask at this point you take this occurrence as a warning that you may want to review and see if some the detection methods may be giving false positives.
Thanks arena net for all you’ve done to keep bots and cheaters out of the game and keep up the good work
Like said this is mainly a fix for WvW Mesmer’s would instantly pull unsuspecting players off walls and ledges many times to their deaths. A one second timer gives alert players a chance to dodge it.
In the level of pulling into the void is top tier by a mile. Name any other terrestrial skill that can pull a group of enemies instantly. I’m actually surprised they didn’t nerf it further.
I would like the point out the fact the author of the video basically says in the first minute. Either you hate how gw2 is or your a thoughtless fan boy.
Personally, I believe guild wars 2 has a lot of innovative original ideas that need far more polish. However, copying another game is not a way to be innovative. I believe the term “wow clone” comes in here. If everyone is copying wow, then you’ll never get ahead following the pack.
+1 to this. I can’t count how many times I’ve wondered if skill is in range or not.
Currently all I can do is move the aoe target over the area in the hopes it turns green.
Although I believe this ranger finder should always be on. there’s plenty of normal skills as well as aoe that I would like to know if they would hit.
I am a bit in the middle on this one. Making the daily 5/46 would just make the same dailies done every day and remove all challenge. At that point they might as well give the daily for just logging in. Both I would rather not see.
On the other side, the current daily is still a bit too challenging. For instance today’s daily I had to go out of my way to finish (buy blues and whites and toss into the mystic forge)
I believe the current daily is a bit too small but not by much.
Here’s what I would like to see.
Each day a random list of events is selected. each category has a pool it draws from.
1)Kills (normal kills, veteran kills, aquatic kills, etc)
2)Regional(Krytan kills, maguuma veterans, etc)
3)Events(Normal events, sidekicked events, regional events)
4)Daily gatherer
5-7)General (Dodger, leveler, condition, interrupter, etc.)
8,9)Minigames (Keg, moa racing(and any other new games added), jump puzzles, ambient killer
10)Group (Group events, champion killer)
11)WvW kills
12)WvW Singular (Killing yaks, capturing camps, etc.)
13)WvW Group(Capture towers, Capture Keeps)
by my count it adds 2 more categories. and will be much easier to attain through normal game-play.
They did put a air-dock into lions arch.
It’s on the northern wall of fort mariner.
I love the fact you can get fireworks from the dragon coffers. Even though I have a few issues with them.
First is they have a horrid recharge time making it a chore just to shoot all the charges, if this is some sort of spam protection I cant see what’s the point since once you shoot off all the charges it simply disappears. Either way please reduce the charge to 0.75 seconds.
Second and most important, REMOVE SOULBOUND ON ACQUIRE!!!! I like storing things like these in the bank so all my characters can use them. Personally I can understand soul bound on certain items. (armor, weapons, karma items) but putting it on things like these just hurts everyone. Please, make them account bound so all our characters can share them.
Thank you for your consideration.
I think the big problem is that every big patch day there seems to be a trail of mini-patches that fixes everything the patch broke.
An example happened just this patch when racing moa’s could be stunned. Since then it has been fixed but you can’t tell me 1,000+ players poking at the game in a test server couldn’t have spotted that in five minutes. Heck even 100 would have found in in an hour.
A public test server would be a improvement. Anet can test new things before releasing them(such as balance fixes, and new content), and the normal players get a less buggy game. Win Win.
The Lose here is obviously the issue of secrecy. Any test content would have to be scrubbed clean in order to prevent spoilage of their living story plot or surprises. Personally I don’t mind the spoilers on it, but I have a feeling Anet does.
It’s very likely a parody of this song..
Also made by an anet employee apparently.
Yeah, someone should fix that someday.
And rebuild canthan district?
Wishful thinking aside,
Each of the main cities is very well defended.
Divinity’s reach
giant walls and lots of soldiers. Unfortunately it seems they took the traditional castle style defense, when enemies come close the gate and hold out inside. Hence why centaurs can make such nearby incursions.
Hoelbrak
Natural defenses is the primary mode of defense. Only two entrances to this city from the southeast. Beyond this all of the greatest norn heroes live there. So essentially an army of legendaries.
The Grove
Wardens are the visible defense, however I do believe the grove has some natural defenders as well. Oakhearts, Grubs, and seed turrets, there is likely an army of plants and animals ready to spring into action at word of an approaching army.
Black Citadel
This is just one big military base. Turrets, snipers, tanks, and waves and waves of char soldiers.
Rata Sum
On the approach of a hostile army the asuran gates to the outside would likely be shut down. This means any army better have wings if they want to even attack the city. If they ever did get inside an army of golems and skilled asuran fighters await them.
I would love to see these cities defenses put to the test of an actual army. (dragon minions maybe?) Personally, I did really feel let down when it said the molten alliance where supposed to be invading charr and norn but we never saw a big battle to defend the cities.
Since you just ninja’ed me on this topic I’ll post my topic post here instead
Can anyone explained how we (Sea of Sorrows) Just went up 3 ranks?
Although I don’t like it we where crushed last week.
Sea of Sorrows: 156,961
Fort Aspenwood: 213,000 (-56,039)
Tarnished Coast: 261,216 (-104,255)
And now I found we actually went up 3 ranks from 10 to 7 and are now in tier 2 fighting the victor from our tier and the current NA WvW champ?!
This cant be what Anet ment when they said. “we won’t match servers against other servers whose rating falls outside of an acceptable range.” or the very least I would not count Rank 1 vs Rank 4 vs Rank 7 an acceptable range.
Alternatively the match-ups should randomize +-1 at max.
This way you may only face a world 4 ranks above or below you at max.
Implementation would be the current rank system then going from top down to each world and add to the rank by a random (-1,1). Simple and effective.
I believe SoS to be a medium level server, we have recovered a lot since the mass exodus of our pro guilds, but not ready for high tier game-play.
I have already spoken with my guild and no one in it wants to play WvW this week not with such unfair teams.
I hope this is fixed asap, and would even approve a midweek change just to fix this obvious error.
I can see where this is going..
*Player joins wvw*
Player: hey guys what’s
WvWplayers : Get out!! were player locking wvw while were ahead!
Player:but..
WvWplayers: *various insults and swears*
The problem is what’s good for one can also be good for the other. A coordinated server can easily reduce the player numbers to dismal levels forcing wvw to be come a small team of highly skilled players vs a small group of randoms.
Not to mention a huge amount of hate towards unskilled players who join wvw due to the fact there lifting the player limit for enemies, and you think the hate for the jump puzzlers was bad enough...
Personally I think you need to strengthen the outnumbered buffs. Make outnumbered players stronger, not just better rewards. I would like to see an outnumber player with double stats when they are outnumbered 2:1
I immediately went to this when I saw it…
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Pearl_Broadsword.jpg
I love the fact we’re getting canthan’ish’ weapons but I would have liked the sword to look more regal.
