As a quick note, this is NOT inside trading. I wouldn’t say that insider trading doesn’t exist, but 99% of the time it’s speculation you’re seeing rather than insider trading. I can’t go into details, but we have plans for insider traders.
Greetings all,
We are closing down this thread, as it has gone way out of scope of the original post. If you wish to give feedback about the Fractal changes, you should visit the Fractals sub-forum located here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/fractured
When you give feedback, please be sure to keep all personal attacks, name-calling, and accusations of exploiting, hacking out of your posts. If you have any questions about this, you can review the Forum Code of Conduct here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/rules
Why kill her?
When Anet finally decide to finish all this nonsense, put her in a cage and allow players throw rotten eggs at her.
I smell a mini-game idea.
Is there anything you can tell us that would help us relate to your motives for this character? Something that will let us set better expectations and maybe give better feedback?
I started to reply to each question in your post but ran out of time today. SPOILER: I was in meetings.
Questions like these may be more suited for an interview since the answers can be rather long when discussing the creative process, project constraints, etc. I would like to share some insights on Scarlet and other Living World characters but I’m not sure the forums are the best place. Let me think on that for a bit.
A mail delay is an interesting idea, at least for roleplay immersion. I’ll have to ask a designer on that. Bear in mind that there might be reasons in place why we don’t do it but I’ll ask just the same. I’m curious just as you are.
Aww thank you StinVec. I am so glad to hear it’s appreciated. I enjoy being direct and doing what I can. Lately I’ve been peeking into the bug forum to see whassup. It’ll be a slow feed, but looking into what is feasible to fix.
Looks like a past fix in one bleed area affected another. I put the shoe back on the dye channel it was shipped with. Also cleaned up some of the other bleeds. Won’t be in the next release, should show up in the release after that one. :}
Meanwhile, thank you again for all your help with bugs. It’s really a big aid and is appreciated. ;}
I’m getting a lot of “Please check on my ticket” requests via PM. Please, please read the topmost thread! Thank you kindly.

This Friday’s Guild Wars 2 Developer livestream will focus on what it takes to make a PvP map in GW2.
Darrin Claypool and Jon Peters will be on hand to illustrate the complete process of the creation of the Skyhammer map, from the first brainstorm to the final polish. They will also show some alternate prototypes that didn’t make it to the final map, and give a first look at some game mode prototypes that they’re currently working on.
If you’ve got questions about PvP map development, post them here and Jon and Darrin will try to answer some of them during the livestream. The livestream begins this Friday, November 22nd, at noon PST on http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2 –don’t miss it!
Hi Dreary Yew,
First, what program are you using, if any, to underclock your GPU? This does sound to be more of a hardware based issue since you say this happens in multiple games. Since I don’t have your exact laptop model number, I can’t say whether or not you have Optimus but I’d check to see if this tutorial helps to ensure you’re actually using the Nvidia card.
That being said, I’d like for you to submit a support ticket so we can
gather some more info from you and try to narrow down the cause of the issue here.
I was just about to jump in this thread and say it’s possible it’s a driver based issue after looking at the crash log but it looks like the issue is already resolved! Glad to hear you got it worked out.
Hi SpellOfIniquity – What kind of system specs are you working with? There’s a couple of things we could probably suggest for you to tweak to see if you have a performance increase but if you’re barely hitting min specs you might see some lower numbers of course. Single digits though is a bit troubling so I’d like to see if there’s anything that we could do for you here. As I’m sure you’ve seen WvW can run your system pretty hard and even players with beastly PC’s will see numbers plummet a little unfortunately.
Hi MrHayler – There’s not enough info to go off of for speculation so I’d like to collect some diagnostic info from you. Specifically, I’d like to collect a Game Advisor report. The sticky thread below should detail how to run Game Advisor and generate the report. You can attach it to the thread by clicking “More posting & formatting options…”

Hm… looks like this issue has been popping up a lot more recently. Would you two mind sending in a support ticket so we can gather some more info?
Hi skaruz – Are you overclocking any of your hardware at all? I’ve seen this issue tied to the GPU and I’ve mostly seen this issue with SLI configurations or drivers.
Hi there,
This is definitely a new one to me. I asked around and this doesn’t actually look like a technical based issue. Would you mind submitting a support ticket so we can further investigate this issue? If you could also include a screenshot of the error, this would help as well.
There’s a couple of things that you can try, but ultimately I think the surefire resolution would be to upgrade to a 64-bit operating system.
One solution presented by players being affected by this is to change the “Maximum pre-rendered frames” in the Nvidia control panel. To do this:
1. Right-click on your desktop and select “Nvidia Control Panel.”
2. Select "Manage 3D Settings.
3. Scroll down until you find “Maximum pre-rendered frames” and change it from “Use the 3D application settings” to “1.”
Once completed, click “Apply” to save your changes and try Guild Wars 2 again.
Thanks for all the information, folks. We’ve isolated the problematic system and are looking into what is causing the issue. I’ll keep the thread updated with what we find.

Hi Maverick,
The issue you are reporting may be due to the Guild Wars 2 ports being blocked. To check this, please try the following:
1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 folder.
2. Right-click on “Gw2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
3. Right-click on “Gw2.exe – Shortcut” and select “Rename.”
4. Rename this file to “Guild Wars 2 Diagnostic.”
5. Right-click on “Guild Wars 2 Diagnostic” and select “Properties.”
6. Locate the “Target” line and add the following to the end " -diag"
Your target line should look like this: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -diag
7. Click OK to save your changes.
8. Open “Guild Wars 2 Diagnostic” to start the test.
Once completed, please click “View Results” and save the results to a text file on your desktop. Once saved, go ahead and attach it to the thread by clicking “More posting & formatting options…”
Hi there, are you on a 32-bit operating system by chance? This looks like the Out of Memory error crash players with 32-bit operating systems will sometimes get.
I just asked another player if he’d be kind enough to wait until tomorrow to update the ticket. We apologize that it’s taking this amount of time. If you don’t have your gem refund by end of day tomorrow, feel free to post in the Tickets for Review thread. Thanks for your patience!

I am logging in from the same PC, and it’s linked to the same network, but everytime I log in it wants me to go to my email and authenticate my location. I only have the game three days and every time I logged in since i bought it, it wants me to do the same process. what can I do? does it have something to do with the server? (I noticed it said a different city in the location everytime i logged in, maybe because it’s linking me from a different server?) thanks in advance.
Some ISPs (Internet Service Providers) use a variety of IP addresses. I have one such provider, and sometimes I get a "You’re logging in from [name of city 60 miles away]. Well, because I know that I am the person who is attempting to log in, I know it’s ok to consider those notifications info only, not a warning of some serious wrongdoing. Meaning, due to the nature of the dynamic IP system, in my case I don’t need to contact them to say “Wait, someone’s hacking me!”
The same thing happens to me with my e-mail provider, with Facebook, with several other services. It’s a bit of a nuisance to get those messages, but because I know I’m the requester, and because they come near to my home or office, I recognize that it’s ok to ignore the e-mails or text messages as unnecessary notifications of what I am doing on my account.
I don’t want to suggest you should always ignore, and your ISP may be entirely less likely to have a broad range of IP addresses. But the story of the man in England who didn’t leave his home but who showed (legitimate) access points from England, Scotland, and Wales comes to mind. I call that one heck of a “dynamic IP address” but each of the accesses was the actual owner of the account.

Hy, i managed to get my problems solved thanks to the support , really great team. The email wich was new , wasnt good so i had to change it at the end of day.Thank you
Was there a problem with the e-mail address? Or was your e-mail provider blocking our e-mails and you chose to use another one to get help?
I’m trying to figure out the depth of the problem with certain e-mail providers, so would appreciate the help.

It appears that things will be ok now, is that correct? If Support is providing you with a new e-mail address to use as your log-in name — that is, using an alternate e-mail address from the one that was compromised — I believe you’ll be just fine.

The message I get when trying to get a password (I’ve never had a support password):
Your email address has not yet been verified.
Submit your email address, and we’ll resend your welcome email containing the verification link.So I submit my email address. I get no welcome email containing a verification link.
That enough info?
I’m sorry, what “support password” are you referring to? We don’t have support accounts any longer, you simply file a ticket by clicking “Support” above and then filling out a form, after which your conversation would take place via e-mail.
Are you trying to do a reset of your account password? (Sorry for my confusion!)

Hi there! Sorry for the delay – I’ve got quite a workload ahead of me today so some days I tend to be more active on here than others. Have you tried bypassing your router and connecting directly to your modem? This is definitely pretty odd because there isn’t a whole lot here that stands out to me.
EDIT: If this is something that you can try, while directly connected to your modem and if you’re still getting the error, could you create a -diag report for me? It’s basically just creating a shortcut and adding"-diag" to the end of the Target line. If you’d like specific steps please let me know!
(edited by Ashley Segovia.8276)
Hey all! Just wanted to say that it’s on the list in the future to only have searing flames (and other similar effects) trigger only when your target has a boon.

Thank you Vick for the screenshots. And Thank you StinVec for the continued diligence! I’ll take a look into it and see whassup.
Hi there. Have you tried disabling Avast? Looks like that’s still running in the background and you didn’t mention having tried this yet. Generally security software is the main cause – the other cause is generally an unsupported connection (mobile, satellite, etc.).
Technical question: can the completion of a dynamic event be used to trigger the sending of a piece of mail (w/ attached rewards)?
For example, if an event sent you out to protect lumberjacks, could success trigger a letter being sent 30-60 minutes later that said thanks for the help and included some small number of wood planks (“Please take a few of the offcuts. Without you assistance we wouldn’t have any lumber at all…”)
So you’re talking about a time delay between completing a renown heart (or event) and receiving the letter rather than getting it instantly?
Lilith — Thank you for this information. When you say “verification e-mail” are you speaking of a receipt? An authentication e-mail? It will help us troubleshoot — and believe me we are doing that! — if we know the exact type of e-mail you did not receive.
And MR, thanks for asking two relevant questions.

Will this ever play in-game? Like by talking to Dessa or something?
Yes, it will play the first time a new player enters the Fractals…and it will be watchable by triggering it within the hub. It also includes a little VO from Dessa that’s not included in the trailer.
(Somewhat related) There is a plan to allow people to playback cinematics through some sort of story UI. This should help people catch up on what they missed.
Please send an email to forums@arena.net to discuss. Thank you.
Both good ideas! I believe we normalized player models in Super Adventure Box if I’m not mistaken, so it’s probably something we can look at applying to PvP. As far as rewards, gold would be amazing. We’re currently on making rewards in PvP amazing (“Incredible!”), and I’m sure everyone will love it
They will roll out in steps, though. So when you see one patch, don’t think that it’s the only thing we have planned.
Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)
Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
Although the Anet guy seemed to take this personally. I’m not sure I like the snippy attitude, seems a little unprofessional. But at least we know they’re people and not robots.
Don’t worry, I didn’t take it personal. I try to not be too professional on purpose, trying to find a happy medium that is relaxed but not off putting. At least, that’s what I’m programmed to do.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
I don’t mean to derail this thread, but I don’t think you can take the current player counts as representative. I mentioned in another thread that the server backend is currently preferring 8v8 due to a bug.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
This will probably get infracted, but here’s mine:
You’re going to have to try harder than that.
Note: Try harder at your own risk.
Hey folks,
Just to clarify – we don’t have any immediate plans to remove 8v8. Justin is looking to make changes so that servers prefer to be 5v5 rather than 8v8, but they wouldn’t be removed completely.
We may revisit that decision in the future, but for now, 8v8 is safe.
I’m quite partial to the ideas above regarding bots and training NPCs. There’s quite a few games out there that use them to great effect. Personally, I’d rather have my butt handed to me by an NPC for a few hours rather than a player while I’m learning. Much less embarrassing.
Thanks for keeping it civil, folks. Looking forward to future responses.
Please do not assume that because a particular comment or post was not replied to that it was ignored. This is simply not true.
There is no bias toward any type of criticism/discussion as long as it is productive.
As i mentioned we need to have more focused topics and more time to be able to fully enter into the discussion. This is something we are actively working on.
Please do not try to derail a thread about how we can improve by building arguments around assumptions.
Finally this initiative is extremely important and should be treated with respect with the focus on evolving a great game. And the first round of CDI around Living World was extremely useful in this regard. Let’s make it better as we move forward.
Chris
also…why is this thread in general discussion and not under the new fractal update where it belongs?
Don’t want to accuse anet of hiding/deflecting our concerns….but if it looks like a fish and it smells like a fish…
Because this is where the OP made it and we’ve been using it to gather feedback from those who are unaware or do not post in the Living World sub-forums.
You do know we have multiple teams working on all aspects of the game concurrently, right? You can’t compare the output of one team to the sum of all output from every other team.
I mean, I’m good but I’m not that good.
Sure, it would be nice if we had more bodies working on PvP. That wouldn’t really get things to you faster, but could increase the number of things we’re getting to you.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
Why am I locking this thread? So many choices…
A.) Baiting
B.) Trolling
C.) Nonconstructive
D.) All of the above
I pick D!

I’d swear my Male Asura Engineer has a single Female Norn guttural sound accidentally cross-linked. He has one grunt I am certain is pulling from the wrong set.
If you can find a reliable way to get that mismatched sound to play, like a specific skill or action, then do tell. Something like that should definitely be fixed.
Further research on my Asuran Male Engineer:
The sound that I believe is Claudia Christian/Female Norn is part of the set that can be triggered by jumping – jumping up and down in place will eventually produce it.
Its one of 3 “Hmmm” sounds (as opposed to the he-uut, yea-aah, aaah, and other jumping noises
). The highest pitched Hmmm sounds like the Asuran male voice actor. The suspect one is one of the two deeper pitches.
Sorry I can’t be more precise. I’m not sure I have the technical language to lead you to it more exactly…
All those sounds asura males make when jumping are definitely the asura male voice. Nothing has changed with that sound pool since we shipped last year either. Some of them do sound like ‘hm’, but none of them are nornlike nor ladylike. The ‘hm’ ones are in there to break up the more manic sounding ones so the asura doesn’t sound like he’s exerting himself overmuch every time he vocalizes his jump.
If you have feedback about it, though, it’s always welcome. Thanks for taking the time to check it out and post about it.
I believe the intent is this thread is to retrospect the Collaborative Development initiative. You’re suppose to include suggestions on how to improve that, not how to improve PvP.
Did you think the top 3 format was a good idea? Do you want to see more developer responses? Do you have a better idea on how community priorities can be polled? Do you think your suggestions were ignored? Do you think it was hard to draw attention to the very good ideas? Do you think a vocal minority dominated the discussion?
They probably want your feedback in the top 3 suggestions/ideas/concerns format like the original thread.
