Hi FireFlame – If you’re still experiencing this issue, I would like you to delete the Temporary Cache for Guild Wars 2. To do this:
1. In Windows, press the “Start” button and locate the “Search programs and files” bar at the bottom of the start menu.
2. Type in temp exactly as shown. (With the precent signs)
3. Press “Enter” and a new window should appear with the location of “C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp”
4. Locate the folder labeled "gw2cache-{RANDOM NUMBERS} and delete it.
After doing this, please try running Guild Wars 2 again.
Hope this helps!
I cannot address issues via PM. But yes, your language was reported, verified as offensive, and I can confirm it required the suspension that you received.
I do appreciate and commend Anet for consistently introducing new content to keep the game fresh. I just disagree with the type of content with SAB and wish they’d focus a bit more on the bugs and little annoyances that seem like it might be easy to fix that have existed since launch.
No one is going to agree 100% with the content any company makes. I understand there are plenty of people who find nothing entertaining about SAB. That’s perfectly fine. We are a tiny team, and there are many other, much larger teams focused on bugs and more traditional content. One of the truly amazing things about ArenaNet, and the reason I’ve been working here almost a decade, is that they actually let the content creators follow their passions and make stuff that we’re exited about. It’s one of the reasons GW2 is as good as it is. (Not perfect of course.) SAB is a dream gig for our little team, and most companies would say no to such an off-the-wall idea. The fact that we put it out there is testament to Anet’s desire to innovate and try new things rather than resting on our laurels and regurgitating the same thing over and over. So even if you don’t like this particular experiment, I hope that you can appreciate the impulse that made it possible; and I’m sure one of the many other teams we’ve got cooking up new and better stuff will make something that really appeals to you.
If you took SAB back in time to the late 80’s and released it as a game in its own right what would it score/review be like?
Probably 6-7 out of 10, medicore to average…
Well, minus the whole 3-D aspect of it, yeah, you’re probably right. Of course judging any classic platform or adventure game by it’s first 1/4 would get it lower scores. There are definitely problems in translating the tight, instant control of those old games into a 3 dimensional MMO engine with established mechanics. Despite that, I think by the time we are done we would get a review like this in Game Pro magazine in 1991: Graphics: 4 Sound: 5 Control: 3 Fun Factor:5. We’ll see.
Even if it isnt much, Id still rather it go into making the core game more strong. Then again, it seems many are enamoured with the SAB, and I think making so many happy with their game is a good thing in many ways.
I think this is a very mature statement. Of course no single piece of content is going to appeal to the entire player base. But as far as bang for your development buck, SAB has done very well for GW2 proper, bringing back a lot of players who faded out, and converting a lot of WoW players. SAB will come and go, but a lot of those people will stay in Tyria who wouldn’t otherwise be there.

Hey there – I hope the re-installation worked out for you. If you’re still experiencing any issues at all please let me know!

Hey Sarphil – From the Net Diag report you’ve provided it looks like there’s quite a bit of packet loss throughout the results which might explain the lag issues you’re experiencing but this is completely different from FPS drops.
Additionally, from what I can tell your CPU is slightly under the minimum requirements. As Guild Wars 2 is a very CPU heavy game, this is likely the cause for the performance issues that you’re experiencing.
I’m not aware of any plans to have a public test server.
Hey Lee,
At this point, I would recommend putting a ticket into support so they can gather some additional information from you to dig into this issue further. You can contact support at support@guildwars2.com.
We have an internal FAQ that we’re updated based on reading the forums. Thanks for adding these questions docMed!
I would like to know how these scammers got our e-mails in the first place?
Anyway i got a new one today different than the normal ones.
Gw 2 questionnaire.
The usual stuff click this link and log in and answer the questions bla bla bla.
I just hope ppl don’t fall for these stupid scams.
I do not know where they got your email address, except to say they did not get it from us. If you read Mike O’Brien’s article on account security I think you’ll get some insight into the matter.
I realize custom arenas won’t be enabled for all players until some testing has been done. However, does that transition require a major patch, or can you just flip a switch at any time?
There will undoubtedly be fixes and polish tasks generated from beta. These will require a patch.
We do have an Alpha program where players are invited to test things before they go live.
I hope the other things you’ve been working on aren’t more “fun” improvements to dungeons and world PvE mobs. So far, you’ve proven the existence of “anti-fun” as a real property and your pursuit of it has been disconcerting! (It’s probably not a good sign to have some fans breath a sigh of relief to learn that the new dungeon was not created by the Dungeon Team…) ;P
What someone defines as fun is often different from what another person calls fun. I’m sorry our dungeon work has not appealed to you and others, but there is an audience for what we do. My hope is that in the future, we can build something that appeals to you and other folks currently not on board with our dungeon content, while still staying true to the people who have enjoyed our content thus far. Bridging that gap is not an easy process, but I am confident that such things are not impossible feats
The latest twist on this unfortunate situation is that people who receive the emails who do not have GW2 accounts (or any accounts with any NCSOFT games) think that we are sending them the spam. I’ve had a few emails to write today assuring people that they are being phished, and that the emails about “your account” are clearly going to just about every living person on the planet.
Also, there is a third phishing effort — somewhat different than the other two — so be watchful, as always!
If that does not work, you’re welcome to contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. They will be able to assist you. For tips on what information to provide in a ticket, please read this post and provide as much as possible to expedite the ticket.
Hmm…
If Custom Arenas are replacing hotjoin and they cost money, and hotjoin is free…
This could potentially kill off the population of prospective PvPers that don’t have gems/lots of gold. This will truly make PvP quite a “small town.”
It doesn’t cost gems to play on a server, only to own one.
You can check your sale items in the My Transactions tab of the Trading Post. Simply navigate there and change your filter (in the upper left hand corner of the window in My Transactions) to “Items I’m Selling”. If the items or quantity is wrong, please post a screen of both the listings of the item your selling on the TP and the list inside your My Transactions and we’ll try to take a look.
No.
One name change contract gives you the ability to change the name once on one character.
The original name, however, will be available only to you for 24 hours after you use the initial Name Change Contract.
If you were writing in on behalf of someone else, that’s why a new ticket was created. After expressing what was needed, we then needed to hear from the actual account owner.
If you find you still need help after three days, feel free to post in the Tickets for Review thread, which is at the top of this Account Support sub-forum.
The “Ask a Question” issue has been resolved!
You language was truly horrible. I can’t see that it was some “hotheaded,” impulsive response to abuse — you were simply incredibly crude.
Serve the timeout and use greater care in the future.
We cannot assist you through the forums. There is too much verification needed to ensure that the person contacting us is truly the account holder. Many people attempt to steal accounts, so we must be careful and cautious.
You need to continue to discuss with Support via your ticket.
All of this is of no value without a ticket number. I understand that you are upset, but we need the 12-digit Incident of Ticket Number to help.
More importantly, the forum is not a “submit ticket and post immediately” venue. Please allow the team time to help you! If you find you still need help after three days, feel free to post in the Tickets for Review thread, which is at the top of this Account Support sub-forum.

You have submitted a ticket to ask about this, and that’s good. There’s really no point in posting at this time; the team will answer you as quickly as possible.
The forums are designed for follow-ups (after three days in the specific thread) and for general questions of an account nature. But we specifically do not encourage a “submit-and-immediately-post” culture.
If you find you still need help after three days, feel free to post in the Tickets for Review thread, which is at the top of this Account Support sub-forum.
The SAB forum, like the Halloween, Lost Shores, and other time-limited content will be archived. Posts will still be read-able, but no new posts can be added or created. The archive is located at the bottom of the page here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum
Should people wish to continue discussion about SAB, they can start new threads in the Living World Discussion sub-forum.
The “Ask a Question” situation is now corrected. We’re sorry for the inconvenience, and if you need to reach us, please feel free to use the system now. Naturally, if you have another instance of this, we’d like to know it.
Thank you.

Actually, we iterated on the weapon skins a LOT to make sure that they fit the world. Obviously some people’s definition of ‘fit the world’ is not some other people’s. But if you look at someone decked out in SAB skins next to a holographic flower or in the crafting area of Rata Sum they don’t contrast at all. Asura have holographic tech. Moto used it for weapons and pets.
Once you are registered, you can play from anywhere. If you have authentication, you’ll be asked to verify, but otherwise, you’re good to go!
I have reported this to get it corrected. Thanks for the report.
This was fixed and should be in soon.
As noted by Jeffrey Vaughn earlier, “We’re testing a fix now, though I don’t have an ETA for when it will go live. Most likely it will be included with the next monthly update, since that’s when content changes are pushed out.” The team is aware and working on the issue, so this thread will be closed. Thanks for the feedback!
Hey there. Sorry you[‘re having problems and we do want to fix this. Can you tell me what category you’re choosing in the “In need help with…” field? Looks to me like we’re requiring info that we’re not allowing you to enter, which obviously is a bug.
We’ll get on this once I get that extra bit of info from you.
Thanks for the report.
The checkpoint activates the first time the wind blows, but you must die and retry at the checkpoint. If you bandage yourself back up after falling off and teleporting to the start of the story, you’ll have to run it again. I don’t see how it’s possible to be forced to retry 60 times unless you’re choosing not to allow yourself to die.
What about people who managed to purchase Custom Arena Starter Kits due to a bug before? I know ANet said they will be usable when CAs get released but does it apply to beta too?
Yes they will be fully functional.
This was not built by the dungeon team, but instead by the living world team. William and I are currently working on other content in the game, which is why there weren’t any significant changes to the core dungeons this last patch.
We’ve been playing and giving feedback on the new dungeon though. It’s a different flavor from our normal dungeons, but still tasty they are trying some interesting things we will be keeping an eye on.
If this is boring to you personally, hopefully there are other achievements that help you meet your monthly. :-)
While I agree with everything you say fundamentally, I’m a bit curious about the reasoning behind this particular achievement. The best thing about the new daily/monthly set up is that according to what part of the game appeals to you most you can usually get them done without too much of your time bleeding into other areas. For these periscopes, they don’t exactly add anything to the game. Are there people that actually find these fun? Not easy or convenient for achieving the requirements of the monthly. I mean genuinely intriguing, captivating, interesting, thrilling, etc.? They aren’t even part of any sort of routine while normally playing the game.
I’m sorry you didn’t feel they added anything to the game. As part of Flame and Frost, they were positioned to make the Molten Alliance feel like an ever-encroaching threat, and that they were planning for something by spying on their enemies.
Specifically addressing the achievement, while we hope that all the achievements are intriguing, captivating, interesting, etc. as you said, the new system allows you to pick the ones that appeal to you personally. Admittedly, I wouldn’t put anything into the game that I felt was not fun. For me, the design goal with the perisopes was: yes it’s not fun to get knocked around. It IS fun to dodge and deke carefully and feel a sense of victory when you defeat something challenging and yes, somewhat frustrating.
However, this can be very subjective and there can be a fine line bwteen being challenged and feeling like you’re being punished, and as you’ve seen when we feel something is more punishing than fun, we aren’t afraid to change it and so we have.
You might not have found destroying the periscopes for their logs fun. Maybe you prefer jumping puzzles or events, in which case there are monthlies to suit your tastes. I’d like to think that this periscope achievement does appeal to some of our players, and we will definitely be looking at feedback and data we get from achievements like this to help inform our future design decisions. Thanks so much for your feedback! :-)
It will start on the 30th.
The dungeon itself will be available for a limited amount of time, as it is tied to the ongoing story. The possibility of revisiting the content is not out of the question, however. It just becomes a matter of determining where and when it makes sense to do so.
Hello! Thanks for starting this thread. :-)
As one of the designers for the Molten Weapons Facility, I would just like to say that one of our chief concerns throughout the development of Retribution was to address this very issue. We worked hard to ensure that the dungeon experience we have crafted is not simply possible to complete by groups of all different skill levels and compositions, but more importantly that it is lots of fun and rewarding for everyone. I understand the concerns about jumping into a 5-man instance if you’re more accustomed to solo play – in fact as a player I typically share those feelings, so rest assured that such concerns have been and continue to be addressed firsthand by our team!
Flame and Frost has so far made use of many of the different types of content available to players of Guild Wars 2. There have been open world dynamic events, solo instances, scavenger-hunts and achievements. In this case, with the culmination of Flame and Frost, given all the tools in our tool kit as developers, a 5-man instance was really the thing that made the most sense for us to pursue, as it enabled us to best tell the conclusion to this story arc in the way that we wanted.
We’re paying careful attention to this balance of content types, and the Living World teams will always strive to offer a variety of content to our players on a regular basis, and to make that content as compelling, and accessible, as possible.
Speaking personally, I hope you’ll join all of us on the Flame and Frost team and give the Molten Weapons Facility a try when it releases next week!
The Molten Weapon Facility dungeon will be available as soon as the Flame and Frost: Retribution release is live.
You will not need to have done any living story content to enter the dungeon, but if you want the achievement for completing it, you will need to finish the Hero’s Aid achievement (complete Rox and Braham’s stories) first.
To clear up my confusion, which has caused everyone else to get confused, I’ve updated the original post to correctly indicate when we are resetting. The times are:
01:00 UTC Saturday for NA matchups.
18:00 UTC Friday for EU matchups.
I’ll take full responsibility for this mess and will add this to my collection of arguments against daylight saving time.
The ticket is 10 days old and after some in-depth review (and lots of good info from you) the team has come to the conclusion, as they explained, that there is a problem with your account, and the CS folks are looking into this for you. The latest update was four days ago, and I have asked the team to provide you an update (or to give me one so I can relay it to you here).
Sorry for the delay — this is really an odd situation and we appreciate your patience!
I was suspended last night for an inappropriate name? My in game name is Agondon. How is this inappropriate? I even did a google search to check whether it might be inappropriate even though it was created originally and isn’t derived from anything that might break the name rules. I want to know who decided that I should be suspended and did not properly review the complaint someone filed against me.
Records show that you were accidentally blocked but reinstated. If that is not the case, please let me know and I’ll look further.
The language you used — an more than once — was rude, crude, and socially unacceptable. The suspension was appropriate.
When reporting a potential scam, please take care to not include links to potentially harmful sites. I’ve redacted the links, although I believe they lead only to images and not the actual phishing sites.
I really encourage you to contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. They will be able to assist you. For tips on what information to provide in a ticket, please read this post and provide as much as possible to expedite the ticket.
Either of these methods will work. If you submit a report, we appreciate that you take care to use great care in the spelling of the reported player.
Let’s just say there’s no mystery about why this name was blocked and leave it at that.
Language was really bad. The suspension was utterly deserved. End of story.
