I’ve been getting alot of these mails, just this week. What I’m most curious about is how they get the “noreply@guildwars2.com” adress as sender. Or am I missing something?
There are ways to fake just about anyone’s email address as the alleged “sender” or “from” bar. The important thing to do is look at the email’s properties and not the face-value “sender name.” The sender might say “ArenaNet” but the properties might expose that fake email as coming from BadAccountTheftRing.
Can’t be too careful!
@DJ
You might want to edit that picture so that it doesn’t show your email address for all to see.
Thank you for pointing that out. I’ve flagged it for removal.
We are not planning to adjust the server times for DST, because it is just overly complicated to keep up with. As of Friday, taking into account DST, the match up will reset at 6 PM on the West Coast of the United States, which is 9 PM on the East Coast. It will reset at 7 PM in the U.K.
One more time:
Suspension: temporary time-out
Termination/ban: Permanent closure of the account
I just need to say that because it can get confusing when someone sees “permanent suspension.”
To the OP — please have your friend discuss this in detail with Support. I don’t have enough information to assess this situation. CS will have all the details that allow them to answer in full.
What a negative thread with more than one inaccuracy. Let me help.
Aarean — you didn’t wait a week for help. You didn’t even wait a single day. You appealed, were reviewed, and were back in the game in a matter of hours.
Pyrok — as others have told you, there is ample warning about the item, and we’re sorry that we cannot reverse the error that you made, but that is the case right now. I don’t know what makes you cite your examples, but we do not do account restorations (roll-backs) because someone deleted a character, or bought the wrong item, or wants a fluffier hair-do. We restore accounts because they were compromised. Period. So while it’s unfortunate that you made an error, please don’t use faulty examples to try to build a case.

Update: There’s some question about the ownership of the account, and that is why the answer that was provided was chosen. However, that concern can be easily addressed if she follows the instructions in the update that my team member is sending over in the next few minutes.
I believe what we ran into here was an agent being extra cautious about the account ownership. The agent believed that we might have been hearing from a would-be thief who was trying to steal the account, rather than the account owner herself. Given the nature of would-be account thieves, this is something we deal with daily, and something we are (naturally) conservative about handling, to make sure we are giving the account access rights back to the proper person. Upon another review by one of my team members, the account was reinstated and account access information sent over.
We apologize for this error and hope that knowing the reasoning behind it — careful protection of legitimate account owners — will somewhat mitigate the inconvenience of being out of the game for a short while. Thanks for understanding!
I’ve adjusted the camera to a more sane level, but I don’t have an ETA for when the fix will go live. Since it’s mostly a cosmetic bug, it probably won’t out until the May update. (The April update is currently locked down for testing.)
As you know wvw can get very expensive. Every friday we take contributions from guild members to cover the weeks seige and upgrades. The last 3 weeks we have then had those people banned. Yes we could put gold directly into guild bank but sometimes the guild bank is glitched and people cannot use it.
The system for banning people in the game is ridiculous and needs to be dealt with. To take 3 days to clear a banned person who has not broken any rules is inexcusable service.
May as well add the message suppression system is also a joke.
I would need to have some data to review this. Ticket numbers would help. If I know more, I can investigate, but right now this isn’t really a thread that is going to help make positive changes, it’s just more of a rant.
If you want this looked into, provide ticket numbers, please.
If this happens to you, restarting the game client works most of the time. If the problem persists, or happens repeatedly after you’ve fixed it, please post more information on here and we’ll take a look.

I am so glad you asked! We have a brand new Knowledge Base article that should help you, called Upgrading Your Free Trial.
Enjoy!
When I originally set up the game way back – I picked an old charatcer name from another MMO that I never really liked thinking it would be more of a security thing and not realising that this would be your in-game Display name.
Consequently I hate it as it’s like a girls name which I am not and only serves to confuse people I play with. I realise support has lots and indeed better things to do no doubt, but I am willing to pay crisp pound notes to get this changed to something I actually desire.
Name your price admin/support!!
Hey there. I’m sorry that you don’t care for your display name, and I can understand that you would like to change it. Unfortunately, we don’t have an option to change display names right now, even in exchange for those delicious crispy pound notes you so kindly offer.
It’s possible that we may offer a display name change option in the future, but I am not sure that this feature is on the to-do list, and I cannot give any sort of timeframe for its possible implementation. (If it did come — and again I’m not sure it ever will — it’s not coming soon, that’s for sure.)
I do want to mention that for the most part, all that someone sees in the game is your character name, and your display name here on the forums shouldn’t trouble you too much.
Thanks for understanding.
I was the one banned. Pretty sure it was someone that reported me then the person reviewing it didn’t review it at all. It would have taken them 10 seconds to see i was doing nothing wrong.
At least it was reinstated pretty quickly.
No one is blocked without a review. I’m glad this has sorted out just fine, but please be aware that this was not a case where you were reported, suspended, and then reviewed. The initial review lead to the block, but a second review resulted in reinstatement. Just want to be clear on this so players understand.
Even ArenaNet folks are getting these nasty, sneaky emails.
Be safe, people, and don’t fall for the “You get get free gems if you visit our site” nonsense, or the “We’re going to close your account if you don’t immediately provide us with your serial code” emails.
If in doubt, shoot the team a ticket before responding. But most importantly, read up on the subject so you can protect yourself.

I’m going to lock this as there is the other post for all your posting needs.
This is just for WvW it has no effect on the daily reset.
Collections can clearly support more than 1 item per slot, as seen elsewhere in the game. The problem is that it takes 8 times the amount of space to support more than 1, and PvP has a ton of items. In this case, “technical limitation” means size constraints.
To make collection store 2 items instead of 1 is only twice amount of space.(2bits instead of 1), and you also don’t need 2 slots for all the items, only for specific weapon types(e.g. daggers), so i suppose it is maybe 10% larger at max.Such small fix would definitely help untill fully featured unlock-system will come in place.
Well while this is true, it also requires quite a bit of programming time.
I cannot recall a database type which stores 2 bit. I can just recall BIT storing just 1 physical bit. Even standard mySQL BOOLEAN stores 1 byte.
So if you want to have 1 or 2 bit varying you probably should take some sort of selfmade data type, using CHAR.
There are currently 1901 items, so you need that many bits atleast. That is 237.625 bytes or 238 bytes/chars which is needed at the moment. At the moment they could instead use 1901 fields of the BIT type instead, and easily query each on seperately.
If you want to have certain weapons twice, you would have to start thinking about some sort of bitmask used for each type. Basically you have to make a decision whether you give that item 2 bit or not, and then ‘track’ which item is associated with the n’th bit in your char(x).
So lets assume you give those weapons, that can be dual whielded 2 bits.
Dagger, Pistols, Swords, Axe, Mace.
This would increase the amount of bits to 2174 or 271.75 bytes rounded to 272 bytes.
So we need a field for each account which stores 272 bytes. Within these 272 bytes we define that bit n or the bits n+(n+1) are used for the weapon x.
Now, when you query the database for the items within your PvP locker, you would query that 272 byte string which contains unreadable data, because you are interested in the bitstring. You would then have to run through each byte of this 272 byte array, and apply several bit masks with a & operator, at minimum 4 and up to 8 (one for each bit, if each bit represents one weapon/armor piece, or a bitmask which actually has 2 bits set to 1, if the item allows storage of more then 1). After that you have to compare if the result is true (>0) or false (0).
Ultimately not ultra hard to program, but unnecessary if you are going the scrap the system later on anyway.Of course you also have to get a logic running which will convert the old database to the new schemata (also not that hard, as you are adding stuff, not trying to compress it further).
The other possibility, which is far easier from a programming standpoint is to use a byte/char for each field.
But as Evan said, that would require 8 times the amount of space per account for the PvP locker.
TL;DR Going from bits->bytes is a trivial change, but takes 8 times the space. Going from 1 bit to 2 bits is a much more complicated change. In any case, people shouldn’t focus on why collections only store 1 of something. People should be thinking of why we don’t have something entirely better than collections.

Greetings WvW players!
We’ve been working hard at finding a solution to the problem of setting up separate reset times for the European and North American regions and I’m happy to say we’ve accomplished it! Starting next matchup and going forward the North American WvW matchup will reset Friday at 9:00 PM EST, which is 01:00 UTC Saturday, and the European matchup will reset at 18:00 UTC. It’s our hope that this will make for a better experience for everyone.
Cheers!

Thanks Sphecida, I will have someone take a look at this now.
16- Ability to stack more than one piece of the same gear in locker, 2 would be ideal.
16) The limit of 1 is a technical limitation.
I thank you for your time here, but dude that is plain sad, where did you outsource the code for this to?.
Collections can clearly support more than 1 item per slot, as seen elsewhere in the game. The problem is that it takes 8 times the amount of space to support more than 1, and PvP has a ton of items. In this case, “technical limitation” means size constraints.
Hey guys – Thanks so much for all of the net diag reports! After taking a look through all the provided reports, there does appear to be sporadic and high amounts of packet loss across many of the hops prior to reaching the game servers. For example:

Trace complete.
This is just one example of heavy packet loss. This could also potentially be due to the fact that the original trace begins in Europe and ends on a North American game server. The same cannot be said for all players who submitted reports as some traceroutes were incomplete, possibly due to security software, router firewalls, or ISP’s blocking the trace.
That being said, for those of you who have a high degree of packet loss within the traceroutes you’ve run, you will need to contact your ISP directly to have them resolve this issue. This is simply because they are the ones that control the route your data takes. Both NCSOFT or ArenaNet have no control over your data until it reaches our servers and as such, we need to get your ISP involved.
I would also highly recommend creating a technical support ticket because I am not at all saying for every player who is experiencing this issue that this is at the fault of their IP. This is just based on the traceroutes that we’ve looked at in this thread. If you were to contact support we can go through some more in depth troubleshooting and will allow us to collect more information to look into for further investigation if this issue does appear to be on our end.

can’t quote because of post size
1) I agree that targeting has been a point of contention around here since everyone has a different opinion on how it should work. We have not forgotten about this issue, but it is pretty low priority, unfortunately. This polish would fall under the umbrella of a combat team.
2) This would certainly be cool. There was a thread on this not too long ago. This is non-trivial polish that requires some back-end tech to be possible. This feature would also fall under the combat category.
3) This is a combination of how the reward system was designed, and the fact that we can’t have different rarity items in PvP for technical reasons. Once this is solved, each item could have a correct rarity and not always ask for salvage confirmation. This is a feature that the PvP team would be responsible for.
4) Vendors and collections were an existing way to get PvP items into the game. Ideally there should be a proper unlock system, but time and tech prevented this from happening. This is a feature owned by the PvP team.
5) I really don’t like suggestions like this, because its a complete band-aid solution to something that should just be redesigned for PvP. Why do you need to even buy free items to apply it 6 times? This is a feature owned by the PvP team.
6) This is some good polish, but it only affects these two specific collections out of the entire game. I would go so far as to say we shouldn’t need these oddly working collections in the first place (see 4). This particular part of collections is a feature owned by the PvP.
7) Haha yes. This. Polish owned by the PvP team.
8) This is a big one! Expanding our skill tooltips to buffs, traits, and items is already on our radar. No timeline. This is a feature owned by a combat team.
9) The reason for making people go to the mists is because the transition from PvE to PvP is a big one. If I new players were to queue directly into a PvP game, they’d have no idea why all their armor, weapons, and traits were different. Making this a two step process helps to eliminate this confusion. However, we realize that the flow of PvP is not efficient, and plan on working on this. This is a lot of features and polish owned by the PvP team.
10) Something I started, but never had time to get back to. This is a feature owned by me.
11) Not sure how this would work. What problem would this solve?
12) You cannot have bank access in the mists because anyone can port there for free.
13) Sounds cool. I don’t see why not. This would be a feature/polish owned by the PvP team.
14) This is a definite must for the future of the game. It is planned. It will come in time. This is a feature owned by the PvP team.
15) This requires some back-end reworks to become possible. This is a feature owned by the gameplay programmers.
16) The limit of 1 is a technical limitation.
17) This will not happen as it affects way to many things in the game. Why do you have that many things stacked at once as to need a stack size of 1000? The problem is not the stack size.
I hope this gives a rough idea of the kinds of things different teams own and the difference between a feature and polish. Anything I can do to make development more transparent is a win. A lot of people wonder why certain things aren’t “high priority” for the PvP team. Sometimes it’s because some other team is in a position to do it. Our team usually is not scheduled to work on game-wide polish or features, because we have so many PvP specific features to do!

Hey Lee,
There are a couple of things you can try that have helped a few other players who were experiencing this same issue.
First, I would like to ensure you do not have any outdated Root Certificates on your machine. To update these you can follow the steps below:
Close out of Guild Wars 2 if you have it running and go to your Documents folder. In the Guild Wars 2 folder you should have a file called Local.dat, delete this file.
2. Download the program from the link below:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/rootsupd.exe
3. Run the program. You will probably have to click ‘run’ or ‘allow’ a couple times, but after that, nothing will appear.
If you run the program and nothing happens that’s ok, it is as it should be.
4. Open the Game Client and try to access the trading post.
If updating your Root Certificates does not help, you may also want to clear out your temporary cache for Guild Wars 2.
1. In Windows, press the “Start” button and locate the “Search programs and files” bar at the bottom of the start menu.
2. Type in (%temp%) exactly as shown. (With the precent signs)
3. Press “Enter” and a new window should appear with the location of “C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp”
4. Locate the folder labeled "gw2cache-{RANDOM NUMBERS} and delete it.

Hello Sphecida,
Can you give me your ticket number? I will see about getting your ticket in the right hands so we can see whats up.

More information about recent phishing efforts in this thread above.
Players report that they receive emails that pretend to come from us with various claims. These are phishing attempts, and we want you to know a few things about them.
We will not send emails that state that your account will be terminated if you do not respond. We will not send emails that state that an account has been compromised (unless we are responding to a player). Emails of this type are almost certainly malicious in intent.
To protect yourself from phishing attempts, please consider the following:
We suggest you take the following steps to make sure both your game account and your email account are secure:

Hey there! Retribution will start on the 30th, but you will have longer than that to participate on the content. More information should be available soon through GuildWars2.com so be on the lookout
We did not change any Bauble locations. The digging is more finicky than I like. I’ll be looking into why.
When I first thought of the idea of an 8-bit jumping puzzle dungeon the very next thought I had was: How does this fit into GW2? Asuran tech was a no-brainer, but thinking of the Why question took me a little bit. When I was a kid my mom saw my game addiction and kept trying to make me play educational games, so I thought that would be the perfect flavor to give it. Asurans are all about education…. and competition. It’s the perfect match.
Yeah, I swapped the order of Spirit Watch so that it doesn’t show up until after the patch. There are a fair number of changes coming with it.
As we have done with previous game updates, what you’re seeing is a teaser page. We release a teaser event page a couple of weeks before an update. There will be more information on the event page in the future.

Thanks to all these fine employees of Anet. Your work is appreciated by many, me included. I’m guessing Patrick had a hand in the WvW culling fix as well due to his title :P? Either way, all these people deserve our respect.
Thanks again!
El Capitán had a very large part in fixing culling. He often enters the room with Flash Gordon’s theme song playing.
Preferably you use a bundle of goods all tied together, that haven’t been modified by design and found equilibrium pricing quickly.
I built that side tunnel as an alternate path up to the top layer, also as a way to get to the end without touching the water if you’re stuck on the bottom layer. The music change is a bug.
This does not mean that Rox and Braham won’t continue to be important characters once this story ends though.
Important important or Treehurn important.
Frankly I’d rather they took a long walk off a short cliff and stayed in their instances. Hopefully they wont be the ones getting credit for the next Elder Dragon we push 2 at.
Well to be honest, there are other characters we want to introduce too, so Rox and Braham will need to step into the background once Flame and Frost ends, at least for a while.
We were actually talking about this in a meeting a few days ago. We want the characters we are introducing to continue to live their lives once they leave the forefront. But what we do not want is for them to end up in an instanced map with no development for months at a time.
We do want to provide motivation for players to check up on these characters when they are in the background but I cannot provide any details (or spoil anything :p) on that yet.
Don’t pay attention to only the people who hate on Braham and Rox, I actually like both of them (Rox more personally), I do want to see what happens with them in the future, and I think GW2 specificially needs more “named” characters than just destiny’s edge.
Ps: I want to see more of the Albino Baby Devourer too. Keep him around.
:) I won’t, I will definitely be posting more now that we are wrapping up Flame and Frost and I’m not as busy with the next round of content yet.
BUT i will say that if you want those things you mentioned you will not be disappointed with the Retribution content.

I would love to have this work. It’s on my list of things to investigate. I want to see a walk-through vid of 5 girls in princess gowns rescuing the the princess.
How did you defeat the big rabbit?! I can’t get past the first round of carrots.
I don’t think Lord Vanquish is a girl…
As both a PvPer and PvEer, I can’t help but fear..
Do Custom Arenas eliminate the chance of a Duel option in the PvE world? Cuz that’d really suck. I can’t even recreate my PvE build in the Mists.
No, this is not the case.
I’m very much with Martin here, this is awesome.
They will have full access to the game. Just think of them as free WXP.
