I do not know that the team is looking at expanding the options/selectable reasons for in-game reports at the present time, but I will share your thoughts on this subject.
We are looking at more meaningful and easy ways for players to report forums issues, but that’s a bit away. More on that at a later time.
In the meantime, I can’t help but think that in-game reports are good. They usually are easy to make and in most cases they do the trick. But sometimes, a ticket is better. It allows you to go into details and at the same time, you can mention whether you have screenshots or other files and attach them if the team requests them. (You cannot send a screenshot with your initial report, but do mention that you have them, because attachments are possible in subsequent responses to the ticket.)
Dyes have been sent (voila — it’s magic!) to those who purchased while the Heroic Dye Packs were bugged.
The issue with the packs has been addressed and sales have been re-enabled in the store. We should be good moving forward. Thanks for your patience while we got all this sorted.
Hey friends,
I apologize that this has failed to reach you all again. =( This appears to be correct on our testing areas but not on Live (I confirmed with the Arenanet guild). I am chasing down some folks to learn more and ask again for your continued patience while we figure this out. Thank you for the prompt reports that this was still affecting you.
Reading this thread, we understand your questions and want to share a little information: This set is designed to be a special, exclusive set and therefore it’s a little different than most. There are a couple of other interesting factors that you’ll want to know: The set is available for one ticket. It will remain priced at one ticket into the future, so someone who wants it now doesn’t need to be concerned about it becoming unavailable or about it rising in price in the future. Other sets currently available are not account bound, such as the Cavalier Weapon Set which was recently released at a price of 1 Black Lion Claim Ticket and remains at that price now. In addition, we do intend to continue to offer tradeable sets in the future. If you’d like a preview of the new set, go to your bank wardrobe and filter for “Privateer.” We hope this answers your questions, and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Hey all,
We discovered an issue with the Heroic Dye Packs, and their purchase has been temporarily disabled while the team works on a fix. If you purchased a dye pack, don’t worry, we’ll take care of you!
When the fix rolls out, we’ll be sure that those who purchased the packs get any missing dyes. This means that you do not need to submit a ticket.
We’ll update when we have more information on this subject.

For some reason that one and 427 fell out of the whitelist. Not really sure how/why, but I added them back in.

The update that was deployed with HoT fixed a display issue that was causing successor steps to not show in the Story Journal. If folks are still experiencing problems advancing their Personal Story it may be due to other factors (NPE, PS Restoration, account progress from co-op, etc.). We’ll need more details in order to troubleshoot them.
For those who are still experiencing issues, can you provide more information? A screenshot of your Story Journal page and a description of where you’re at in the story, along with any other things that happened would be helpful. Thanks.
Eugh, those are actually test items, not the actual unlock items. There’s a bug in the backend component where, when scanning for which items unlock which minis, it only saves the first one encountered. It’ll take awhile to get the correct fix through the release pipeline, but here’s the tracking issue.
In the meanwhile, I’ll try to get a bandaid patch in this week so those two minis have the correct item id. Thanks for the bug report!
I asked around. Our billing partner, Digital River, has a Russian localization. The button to switch languages for that form is on their side and they haven’t disabled it. That page is AFAIK the only place that has a Russian localization.
All information helps. Thank you guys for your continued reports and extra information. We have some ideas that we’re looking at now. \o/ As is, please continue sharing your information as you encounter this issue.
Good day! I wanted to give you all some confirmation that a further fix is being looked at and tested. I apologize that I cannot give a date for when we hope to push the fix out, and thank you guys for your continued patience while we work this out. Thank you as well for the continued reports!
Yup, the only ‘lore’ you might miss by not fighting the actual bosses is some meaningless boss banter to give them some personality and vague hints at what the notes and environment proceed to explain in a crystal clear manner.
I’ve seen quite a few comments like this both here and on Reddit, and I feel I must chime in on this subject which is very dear to my heart as a player interested in Guild Wars 2 lore. I’d argue that people, who don’t play through raid content and only appear after the instance has already been cleared, do miss out on lore. There’s more lore in the raid than just the spoken exposition at the end of Salvation Pass or the written contents of the scattered journals.
The raid team delivers the narrative in many other ways as well as per Guild Wars tradition and have even invented a new, exciting way to do so which is currently exclusive to raids (I hope we’ll see them expand that great narrative concept to other group content like fractals etc. if possible).
I just wanted to call out your thoughtful and informative post. You’re exactly right. A person can get pretty much all of the optional and supplementary lore by exploring a cleared raid instance. They will miss out on character interactions, enemy dialog, and player commentary that would be triggered during fights, however.
We try to structure the cleared raid instance experience to still convey all the most important bits of the narrative. If we’re not meeting that expectation, then we’ll have to look at ways to improve this. You’ve all given us some great feedback for consideration. Thanks for that.
Will post opinion for the next wing soon! Will not probably get far the first day but since there is something at the beginning as well we will have something to talk about
Cheers!
We put it in specifically for raiders and lorehounds to catch up with the Forsaken Thicket story. It’s in a safe spot where squad members can explore before the action starts.
Sorry if I went OT, Bobby, I did try to bring it back to the central topic.
I understand why people are passionate about their opinions. I just want to make sure this remains a safe place for intelligent discussion. Thanks for bringing it back on topic.
I did step into the raid with my husband when it first came out and swiftly got my behind handed to me (surprise, surprise!)
so this is actually good news to hear.
We wanted to experiment with the narrative design on this raid and also give folks an easy way to catch up on the story. I’m hopeful that this is a good first step.
Trust me, I know what it’s like to get destroyed repeatedly by a raid boss. I’m still learning the ropes and am looking to join a casual raiding guild. I just need to make the time!
Please keep the discussions civil and on topic. This thread isn’t for debating “Raids vs. Living World” or “easy mode” but for answering high level questions regarding how raid lore fits into the rest of the game.
Here’s a tidbit for lorehounds and non-raiders, in case you’re curious about Stronghold of the Faithful but are nervous about raiding. You can enter wing 3 and get some lore and story bits right at the beginning. Anyone in a raid squad can do it.
Would love to hear from from raiders and non-raiders after the release is live and people have had a chance to check it out. We value your constructive feedback.
I’ve seen some people ask why all of the poll options were on a monthly basis rather than something like 6 weeks. Tying evaluations to months allows us to say ’We’ll run it on the last Friday of the month, or every other month, etc." which is easier to remember. If you know we are updating links on the last Friday of every even month, you always know exactly when links will potentially change, but if instead it was on a 6 week cadence, you would have to do math and count the number of weeks since the last reset, and if you don’t know when the last reset was, then you have no idea when the next reset will be.
It essentially “breaks” things if the topic is too long — makes a mess of the index page and the post itself. Plus it’s of little value to have a novella as a subject, since the display line on the index page will not accommodate such beefy verbiage.
I rather like what people are suggesting: Give some thought to a short, snappy, meaningful title. It’s not difficult and it helps encourage reading a good thread!
The poll has ended! After removing all votes for “Don’t Count My Vote” the final results are:
38.1% Reevaluate match-ups monthly.
28.9% Reevaluate match-ups quarterly.
15.9% Reevaluate match-ups every other month.
11.6% Reevaluate match-ups every 6 months.
5.5% Reevaluate match-ups every 4 months.
After analyzing the results we have decided to go with a 2 month world linking evaluation schedule because the majority of players voted for evaluations to be more frequent than quarterly but less frequent than monthly. Since we have decided to reevaluate every 2 months we will be reevaluating the current world links and making adjustments on the very last Friday of every even month starting this month on the 24th. Thank you to everyone who voted!
The missing invulnerability at the spawn points is unintentional and will be fixed in the next patch.
Hey all,
There has been some confusion about raids, and lore, and about how everything fits together. To read some info on this subject, right from a person who’s truly “in the know,” please see this thread that Bobby Stein posted this evening.
Thanks for this information, Bobby! There have been some questions about these topics lately. It’s great of you to cast a light on this info!
Hey there. I’ve been seeing some comments regarding the story and lore in the Forsaken Thicket raid, and how that fits into Guild Wars 2. We appreciate your enthusiasm! Just wanted to clarify a few things:
I hope this helps people understand things a bit better. Thanks!
another Bug:
1. Envoy of Exuberance;
Doesnt heal when blinded even though its not attack
Good catch. Added to the list for the next balance update.
Great thread, thanks. Good feedback from OP and the subsequent posts.
Haven’t had a chance to read every post yet, but I really think ANet needs to look at the pet abilities. So many of them are underwhelming with ridiculously long cooldowns.
Especially if pets are here to stay as a mandatory part of the class.
Is there a similar thread to this one but for pets – ideally somewhat current? Looked over a few pages but came up empty handed. Would love to take a look.
I am sorry that some of you still are having difficulties. I have passed along your comments (with links) so that the Network Team can investigate.
Fix for this should be live now.
The current configuration for cache times are:
Kinda confused by this; I thought listings was at 5 minutes and prices was at 1 minute. Might switch that around.
The cache times are returned in the Cache-Control and Expires headers in the HTTP response.
Update: The Network Team has updated us to say that they noted issues with certain ISPs, and they have tried to address that problem by rerouting inbound traffic. They believe this would have addressed most issues, and that is confirmed by a noticeable increase in on-line players, so we feel we’re out of the woods on this one.
In the next release, a 6th pip is being added to the provision master ability line that allows you to buy HoT recipes, sigils, and runes from the heroics notary vendor.
Thank you for the report. Our Network Center let us know a short while ago that they can confirm a drop in player counts across multiple games, including Guild Wars 2.
The team is working on this and will have it corrected as soon as possible!
If we need any information, such as trace routes or specific locations, we’ll update to let you know.
Thanks for your patience.
I’ll see if I can get a workaround for that in on my side today or tomorrow — it crops up when some of the backend servers get restarted. In the meanwhile, logging in with the game client should make the account’s keys work again.
Hey guys,
I just want to point out that Rising Dusk is giving his opinion of what may take place in the future. Maybe even a “wish list” for Raids.
Our forum specialists are not privy to confidential information such as forward-looking, unannounced plans. They represent our forum members, and they do it well. Their perspective is of particular value because they are looking at the game as you do — as members of the player community. To keep that clear perspective, we don’t expose them to internal testing, NDA-bound info, private/internal communications, or that sort of thing.
I wanted to make this clear so that no one is under the mis-impression that there has been a “leak” or that our specialist is “dropping hints” about future raids based on private internal communications. They are simply sharing their thoughts and opinions, which is perfectly fine.
On a personal note, the guilds I belong to are really enjoying raids, and several members have said, as Mireles Lore mentioned, that the new content is reinvigorating their gaming.
Hey all,
Thanks for your patience; I’ve been unable to keep up with this thread due to all the other stuff that’s going on in and around the studio.
We are working on a more reliable and comprehensive method of addressing lore questions, and I will keep you posted.
I do have one more reply to contribute in the short term—I asked for a specific question posed by smitske to be rephrased and it was, so I’m going to tackle that.
We are keeping track of the rest and will revisit the list of questions once we have a plan for exactly how; until then, watch this space for updates, and thanks again.
But on to smitske’s rephrased question:
Still not at liberty to discuss future story developments, but: I understand you see missed opportunities in HoT that could have advanced or resolved some of the big outstanding questions surrounding the sylvari race. HoT’s story (both in story instances and the open world) was conceived and designed with a tight focus on the urgent, PC-led response to Mordremoth destroying the Pact fleet. For example, we initially had plans to include Malyck, but ultimately his plotline fell outside that focus.
This tight focus, along with the precedent of not having detailed backgrounds for every profession in the core game, was also a factor in the decision to not present background lore for the new elite specializations. The elite specs did not all originate in the jungle during the relatively small window of time covered in HoT; exploring their origins would have meant tangential story threads that took place outside the jungle and outside the timeline of the events in HoT.
The next episode of CSL will air on June 22nd at Noon Pacific Time.
I’ve already selected most of the assets for the June show, but don’t let that dissuade you from continuing to post your art! I go back months to find tasty things to show, so there’s always a chance that something submitted in one month will be featured the next month or even several months after it was first posted.
Thank you all for making this show so much fun!
I love that backstory, Dawn. Thanks for sharing that, as well.
Tyler, in order to help us decide, can you tell us a bit more about :
Benefits to updating links less often:
- The WvW team spends less time rebalancing world links, and spends more time building or improving other WvW features.
If the relinking would be every month, what proportion of the time of the team would it take ? 1% ? 10 % I know it’s not easy to tell, but we need to know if it’s significantly high enough to have a adverse effect on WvW evolution.
I’d estimate that each relinking consumes ~5% of the WvW team’s development time for that month. So it’s a low (but not insignificant) perpetual cost, at least until we can build a system for automating it.
Hail friends! This issue has a fix in the works and once QA has verified it, we’ll push it out in an upcoming release. Thank you for… raising visibility on this issue. =D
Super cute!
Has there been a pet themed CSL? There should be a pet themed CSL.
Oh my gosh — that would be splendid!
I’ll have to think about that, but I can see it being a lot of fun, and a real “food for creative thought” for our great artists!
I love it. The mini is a charming addition.
This poll does not require a 75% supermajority vote. If a poll requires 75% approval, the poll question will explicitly state that.
A message from the WvW Team,
The next WvW Poll is up!

This is great! That’s really nicely done — it does look like an oil painting.
Oh, and that’s Magic Toker, right?
Anyway, well done!
