I have run GW2 perfectly in the past, stopped playing for about a year, and now I’m back to try HoT. While running around, even in LA where there’s no combat, I’m seeing an occasional freeze of about a second to two seconds, and then it frees up. It happens about 3 – 10 times a minute and can make the game unplayable. I’ve ended up falling off cliffs in HoT because it froze up while I was running, and combat is almost unbearable.
I’ve tried everything in the graphics settings, but lower quality doesn’t seem to bring about any performance increase.
I’m wondering if there’s any tweaks I can try to increase performance. At this point I’m not convinced it’s a GPU issue, and am thinking it might have something to do with the CPU.

16 GB RAM
GeForce 9800 GT
4095 Graphics Memory

I was just expecting a bonus or something like in the clocktower. That’s why I thought I had messed it up.

When first logging in to LA the load screen has sometimes taken up to 2 minutes. It seems like it gets longer as time progresses, it was never this long near release. Is there something wrong with my computer or is that just the norm?

Ok, I have more than one entire week’s worth of glory boosters if I played 24 hours a day. And I keep getting them in mystery chests, black lion chests, and for daily and monthly rewards. If you’re going to phase out glory and we have to use them up, please stop hitting us with them. Oh yeah and achievement chests…

I got 11 of them just today from various chests.

If you are going to remove glory then stop dropping glory boosters in the BL Chests please.

I talked to the little asura guy and took the checkpoint option and then fell and on the second attempt made it to the end. I got the achievement but only 1 Giant Wintersday gift. Is that seriously all you get or did I give it away? If the latter, can I do it over to get the ‘full’ reward?

It’s more about the stats anyway I think. I’m going to transmute my T3 armor when I make the ascended.

Yeah good points all, I was just thinking that they are cramming her down our throats so much maybe they were leading up to her being something more powerful than a little brat with a woodchip on her shoulder.

What if Scarlet is a Sylvari incarnation of the next Elder Dragon?

My Ranger is a commander, I did this because at the time I was playing that more than any of my other characters. This was before they announced account based WXP. I was thinking that it would be nice to be able to bring that tag over to my other characters without having to shell out the 100g. I know a ton of people probably already bought multiple tags, and I doubt they’d mind getting a refund for that. Or do you think commander tags should be character based?
Personally I thought it was a little odd that anyone could just drop 100g and be a commander, and that there should have been some sort of proof that you have at least spent some time in WvW. Badges of Honor seemed like the way to go with that until they started giving out heaping piles of them for free with the achievement chests.
Doesn’t matter now, the monsters are out of the cage and tons of people have the tags. My main question is what people think of the idea of allowing you to use your tag on all your characters.

What about the tons of glory boosters I have? I’ve got like 190 or so of them and the more I use them the more of them I keep getting. I don’t foresee being able to burn through them before the changes, so what happens to them then?

How does one report a bad guild name? The option for bad character name is ther ebut not guild name.

OK, so that makes sense as to why our matchup is so heated this week.

Everyone keeps talking about the top 6 worlds being ‘Gold League’ I’m confused because I read one place that NA is having 2 leagues, somewhere else says 3.
OK, either way there are 24 worlds in NA. So if there are 2 Leagues wouldn’t it be the top 12? If there are 3 leagues, it would be the top 8.
3 leagues of 6 would leave the bottom 6 worlds out of season 1.

So what did I miss and where can I find official set in stone info?

I had 3 sets of armor, a MF set, a regular PvE set and a WvW set. Now my MF set is just an extra set of useless armor because I do not need a 2nd PvE set, and I can’t swap it to a different character like I (and 99% of everyone else) thought. So I guess I salvage it? That’s a wonderful use of the gold that I spent to make that MF set, now I can get a few ectos and the [now] useless runes.

This is such a non issue, I have my dailies (except the wvw) done within 2 hours, and that’s all of them, not just the 5/5. It’s part of being on top. It’s like suggesting that a pro athlete shouldn’t have to practice to stay on top.

The music on the login screen totally reminds me of the Indiana Jones theme song.

/agree leeching is really bad on this event.

It would be super if we could have a filter so we can look only at the armor class we can equip when searching armor in the TP.

I hope not, not because it’s hard to do the JPs (it’s really not) but because it will further alienate the people who really are not into them.

I don’t know if this helps, but I tell my friends who are new to JPs this: Go to Rata Sum, and practice jumping from tile to tile, you can reach a bunch of different tiles from any one tile, so practice picking a tile and try landing on it. You won’t fall because you’re on the ground already and it will help you learn to calculate your jumps. Also, do the vistas and jps in towns where you won’t have to pay waypoint fees when you fall to your death.

I really like to answer questions, I see a lot of cooperation in this game where someone asks a question and 5 or 6 people give answers. This was the case in GW1 I know. Even in higher areas where you might expect people to say things like "How did you get here without knowing that?’ Well sometimes you don’t pick up on everything, I mean, dodging is a huge part of this game, but I had 2 toons to 80 before I even did it much. Not really until I got into dungeons did I start. (Just an example)
I also like crafting bags for newbies and guild members.
I really like hanging out in level 1-15 areas and showing new people neat stuff. I think that if someone encounters a truly helpful person in the first day of playing a game they’re likely to stick with it.

I’ve been in Southsun Cove all night, at least 95% of the time someone was in /map offering free ports to the top of the island where the sample is. I hadn’t even gotten 3 samples when I saw this and ran over to be ported up. 45 minutes into playing this new content.

Yes, although no exactly that since it wouldn’t fit in the current world, then again the mists aren’t really fixed in time or place… what was my point?
Oh yeah, some PvP where the object is to destroy something while the other team tries to build it (like FA) or gathering things (like JQ)

But not AB because pretty much all the sPvP maps are that sort of thing.

As a Norn I’ve got some pretty hideous town boots. Would be nice to see some cool shoes available.

Personally I like the option of buying new things in the store. Some of the things I don’t care for, so I don’t buy them, simple as that. However saying that ANet is greedy by selling these things is silly, they’re not requiring you to buy these things, they’re just putting them out there. You can still play this game for $0 after the initial purchase, or you can buy gems with gold to get these items and still pay $0. The way I look at it is I can get 1200 gems a month for what I used to pay in subscription fees for a game that also sold in game stuff.

There is a globe in CM that shows Tyria but only takes up 1/2 of the northern hemisphere. We know that Cantha and Elona are out there, but this still seems to leave a huge amount of unused space. What do you think is out there?

Keeps you on your toes, when your build becomes unviable you just need to tweak it to compensate.

This sorta got off track fast, but I have to agree with the OP, when something like the Champion Svanir Shaman is at 20% by the time you can run from the 3rd portal to him something is unbalanced.

I’m not talking about swearing, I don’t even care about that, it’s the racist, bigotry, and other hateful things. And while you brought up the subject of filters, most of these kids will intentionally spell things wrong to get past any filters. I’ve never understood that part, why force someone to read something they chose not to read by activating a filter I’ll never understand, but then people who shout racist or homophobic slurs never really made sense in the first place.

I get that it’s up to the owner of the arena, I’m just wondering what happened to the quick join 16 player arenas that were there before the update. If they’re gone, that’s fine, I’ll deal with it, but if they’re still there and I just can’t find them I’d like to know.

I thought it was still 8v8 but noticed it seemed more zergy and looked at the scoreboard and it was 10v10.

Does anyone else find 10v10 to be a bit overcrowded?

I have 720/721 POIs which is preventing me from 100% map completion. I have zoned to every map to double check, every zone shows 100%, Every town, every wvw map.
I really want to find this poi so i can get 100% map completion. If it’s not listed in the map I don’t know how I can find it, especially if I can’t even tell what zone it’s in. HELP!

You will never achieve everything, they will add new things, or you can come up with your own challenges. For example, you could see how quickly you can earn 1k gold and give it to me.

Do I just use verbal abuse? It seems too specific, it’s what I have been using. I wish this weren’t even something I have to ask, but that’s the world we live in.

I find the random conversations between NPC’s funny. One I heard was a woman who said something like; “every time he laughs it makes me want to punch my shield” it’s funny because we all know someone like that, and you can visualize her punching her shield.

I for one enjoy the amount of dailies and wouldn’t be upset if they increased them yet again. They give me something to look forward to at reset, and I do look forward to them. I consider myself to be on the low end of being a hardcore player, I am not in the top 10 but try to do as much as possible, and I still have my dailies done easily within one hour. So I don’t see time as being a huge factor, perhaps it does take away from something else in game you could be doing, but keep in mind the more stuff that is there the better, you can choose which content you play.

Asura and Sylvari are a little tough, other than that it’s not too bad.

Haven’t seen that at all. People still call stuff out on my world.

Yes, in 2 years when my super small guild gets enough influence to unlock them. Sure I could do the content with a mega guild, but I LIKE knowing everyone in our guild. What’s the point of having a guild if you’re just another face in a crowd?

Aside from mentioning Guild Wars and Oblivion and defining the game style, this article in no way confirms that these people actually played Guild Wars. Or that the game in question was Guild Wars. Plus the fact that perpetrator not only knew the victim outside the game, but where the victim lived, suggests that there was a relationship beyond the game, whether or not their relationship was solely based on their mutual interest in said game. The game may have been a catalyst for the attack, but unlikely the sole cause.

The phrase ‘popular demand’ seems to apply here. Since everything I feel has already been said, just count me with the people who think this is too much to ask of new content. I was looking forward to this update, I have a very small but close guild. I thought the whole point of these missions was to spend time with close friends, you’ve just punched that down.
