Bow

Pros:
– easier to proc with Cleansing ire, only berserk skill that will proc the trait without hitting anyone, so more guarantee’d condi cleansing since sword burst can be odged and such.
-harder to be kited off point by mesmers, rangers, guardians necros since you can burn them back
Cons:
- Bow is slow, since it doesnt work with warriors sprint (not a melee weapon) OBV just use mace/sh when running but while in combat you cant weapon swap for 5s. Minor
- Not much utility. 1-5 are pure dps and one finisher

Sword/Torch

Pros
- Always have warriors sprint up. Minor
- More utility, you have a gap closer. a ranged skill, a fire field that cleanses condis, mor condi application on auto attack (bleed) and a really good burst with final thrust if you can hit it
- easier to fire field combo since the field stays on you as opposed to bow’s static field

Cons
- can be kited. Minor imho because you can reflect with shield and mace #2 and pressure them with sword Berzerk burst, leap and torch #4
- More risky cleansing ire proc. not guaranteed actually have to make sure to hit with burst skill but it IS ranged and has multiple hits. Way better then Eviserate.

As for gameplay, going berserk and spamming F1 is a decent strategy. I normally pop berserker stance after i lose my first berzerk mode. throw down good pressure early without worrying about being bombed. Save endure pain for AFTER your traited one procs.

Rock smash is stab, block and reflect as well as good AoE damage on a short CD. Abuse it.

Main burst is Skull grinder, mace zerk, gap closer, daze,multiple condi’s and a blast finsher. pair it with a fire field and chase people around spamming it and laughing wildly. really is a good shutdown to rangers in cele avatar

You can use shield bash to bait out dodges then headbutt. or vice versa.

headbutt into fights, EXCEPT against guards get the aegis off first. the zerk, then mace burst, swap to sword if they try to run, #2 then burst, torch #4 to slow em down to keep up.

You are immune to condis in berzerk mode. Clansing ire is god. berkerer stance out of berserk mode because you will have less condi cleanse out of berserk and less adrenaline.

Why Legendary Weapons?

I find it annoying that the MAJOR selling point of legendary weapons, apart from the cool effects, is that i can swap the stats anytime i want. but i CAN’T swap the sigils

That sucks.

There really isn’t a single sigil that works perfectly with condi, zerker, and WvW raid scenarios. if you’re raiding then the situation is even worse. I don’t want to have to buy a stack of earth and air sigils so i can use my axe on my zerk warrior and condi ranger.

I also resent the fact that the easiest way around that is to make an ascended axe with the proper sigil. That is NOT why i made a legendary. I am not spending more gold to get functionality i should already have.

Therefore, solution. I am really hoping you will do something, esp with legendary armour about to have the same issue.

Why don’t you make it so you can swap sigils on legendary weapons just like stats? Drop down list of say a max of 3-4 sigils that you can put in like infusions. any more then that is just extravagance i believe and you should have to pay for your quirks. I would.

Obviously the sigil market would plummet. or would it? the average player probably has 1 legendary. they are still paying for sigil swaps on all the other weapons. the people with like 5-6 legendarys have enough gold already that the sigil market really wasnt affecting them anyways.

if you are really concerned about one and done sigils, make a recipe that uses like some infusion you can buy for laurels, badges of honor, etc , the sigil, and 2 gold sink items to make sigil infusing somewhat expensive? ectos, etc

Maybe its nbd, maybe im just OCD about the fact im not maximizing DPS on my zerk axe because i have an earth sigil, but with raids and such out now and legendary armour coming, i dont think its too much to ask.

Rotation Means Map awareness and movement. Being at the right place at the right time It Also has to do with knowing your build and the builds of the people you are with. There are 3 points on a map, make sure you are at one where you can do something useful

2 Main things to remember though

1. Never stand on a point where nothing is happening. Always Keep moving. Check the mini map, see where the fights are, help the one you can get to or “rotate” / move to one of their points and decap it. Never “Bunker Home” the Entire fight. if they never come home then your team outnumbered everywhere else

2. Never “rotate” Into a fight you’ve already lost, unless you are the God of PvP. One of the most common mistakes people make is running back to a teamfight alone, and getting killed alone. Charging back in to die doesnt help anyone and will NOT help you win.

Mini Map awareness is HUGE, you can see icons, colours, classes and downed people. Know where to be to maximize the effect of your class and build. For instance i play Bunker Druid. I make sure I rotate to team fights that need help. I dont run into fights with more then 1 downed or where we are heavily outnumbered. General rule is 3v1’s or 4v2’s. I dont rotate to far alone. Leave that to thieves/ mesmers.

Know what you can take, what you can win a 1v1 against. if you cant win dont even try just back off and help elsewhere. Bunker Druid has Low DPS so if i go through a full rotation of my skills and they are not dead then i leave. I could probably kill them but it will take too long, I could be helping out more somewhere else.

Know where home is, far, and mid, know the best routes to take to get to them

Never run into an outnumbered fight solo.

Midfights with 3 + Necros are just horrible. Getting changed by 20 ish Shambling Horrors.

Also you do realize that if everyone ran MM with Rise you could technically get 60 “people” at a mid fight to clutter the screen and screw with people

One thing I would like to Mention. Your proposed changes to Berserkers Fury and Great Fortitude. I could go find the link and w/e but im lazy but basically its related to the whole adrelinie bar thing and Berserkers Power.

Basically when they massively changed everything the devs came out with the changes to traits with bonuses reliant on KEEPING FULL ADRENALINE.. Becasue why would have a trait that relies on NOT using the Class mechanic. Same reason for that phantasm change on mesmers. Promotion of using the Specific Class Skills.

Therefore, As much i recognize and support your movement i dont believe that changes that go completely against what the devs just changed a few months ago will ever really gain traction.

And just to help you out. I may mention that all the traits to deal wiht Burst Skills are minor GM or GM while other classes get Bonuses to thier F -series skills in Minor and MAster tiers as well. IE, Mug or Blinding dissapation

A different approach to Great fortitude perhaps, would be to work like Berserkers Power and Grant Extra Vitality after a burst skill for an X amount of time based on what Tier Burst was used

I don’t see why you have to choose between the two of those options. The secure stomp comes from mitigating damage. looks like you get your cake and eat it too. Also with the Elixir S at 25% and Vampirism runes the long cooldowns can become substantially shorter, Esp since 25% is already in the perfect spot for that burst mitigation.

This Needs to END. It is broken, it is unbalanced and it is a cheap and fake way to win. It is the perfect example reason of how unbalanced the entire system is.

Risk and Reward Gameplay. that is the Basis of challenge. Risk the squishyness of Berserker to kill people faster. Lose the risk by playing bunker and have less rewards.

Risk Stomping people to get the reward of them not being ressed.

Oh wait. you can just go invuln and 100% guarentee your stomp unless the other team is like zerg ressing. You cant CC the stomper, you cant Burn him down you can just res frantically and hope that you wont die cus.. Funny that you DONT have invulnerability..

I like Skills that make you invulnerable. It gives you play, dynamics, challenges I get that that is good. But the risk is 0 The reward SHOULD be zero.

Skills like renewed Focus are in a good place. Take no damage, but lose access to skills, weapons AND Interactions for a renewal of your virtues. Unlike Elixir S, Mist Form, Vampirism Runes which allow you to still contribute to your team even though to the other team you may as well be a spectator. Those are the problem.

As Well Invulnerability is something only certain classes get access to. Engineers, Elementalists, Mesmers. I will not count guardians because I think that that type of invuln is fine and I wont add the runes because that is risk and the unpredictability of when it will pop leaves question marks.

So Anet are you planning to fix this or do anything about it. And if it IS in fact working as intended, would you please explain why you allow it? Perhaps it is beyond me. In that case please share your wisdom with me

Also I was mentioning that we have enough problems with balance and such but then i see all these rangers using longbows melee on downed foes and im like its like you’re not even trying. you dont see wariors using axes at 1200 range or mesmer greatswords in melee.. why is it that we complain about all our broken stuff then 90% of us ACTIVELY break an entire weapon just so we can LB#2 in someones face..

Greeting all.. been noticing lots of click bait recently wondered if this would work

but srsly.. whats up with rangers?? We complain and complain to Anet about all of our flaws, shortcomings, bugs, pets, hair colour.. anything really. But why should they help us. We are a class based on fluke and rage. The majority of our rank are those annoying LB rangers that everyone depises that make you shake your head as they use it as a melee weapon.

Ok Sure every class has its share of new and inexperienced players but ranger is known for it. Bearbow being the most catch all phrase that I know of. So why should we get shiny stuff. Give it all to engi, ele, mesmer, classes that require skill and experience to bring out.

I feel that in order to give rangers a fair shake we need to give ourselves a fair shake first. TAKE PRIDE IN YOURSELVES. Do you WANT to be the lol noob bearbow kick em for the rest of your ranger career! Is ranger your main? No? Ok fine come on with a longbow and think you are OP cus that 1 skill that is 100% counterable on like every single class every 10s.

Is Ranger your main?? Then spread the wisdom! We have other weapons besides Longbow and Greatsword! like..umm sword? and umm.. maybe axe? and that fire stick thing. You want shiny things fine. Dont we all.. But we should deserve them! Other classes have pride because they take a difficult class or build and shine. Spam #2 is NOT a build. Show them we are more then that that we can thrive despite all those things we think is wrong with us.

Except for that thing where you can stomp people in mist form and Elix S.. Way to go with counterplay on that one. Start your stomp but you’re invuln and he’s guarenteed dead unless you have like… a transfusion necro to port your downed body. Again same with rune of the Vamp if you can time it right its a free win.

It is NOT a hidden Nerf, Its not even a Nerf. The Primal Burst skill you are describing, the hammer knockback is ONLY available while in Berserker Mode, which is 15s whenever you want. If you Dont want to use the primal burst skill just use Hammer F1 outside of it, regain adreneline and then go berserk. Essntially you get the best of both worlds. you want a knockback or some cripple and condis? Use berserk Hammer. need a stun? use non berserk Hammer

Bark skin is physical damage only yes but it pairs magnificently with TU and regen now. the trick is to keep your HP as high as possible. basically spam TU off CD and you get perma protection kinda deal. I agree EB is entirely horrible and since both rangers condi clear compete directly, wilderness knowledge just gives you so much more.

I run almost the same build but I use HaO, SotW, LR, QZ, and SotP. you can still get near perma regen and I like the on demand quickness and speed on QZ.quickness stomps are very nice. you do get lesss condi removal because TU is 2os CD and QZ is 48s. my build is a bit more zerker.. Overall I think your;’s will work fine best of luck

omgosh all the qq.. Rangers are sad that one of our weapons actually takes skill to use and that we cant just Spam 2 to win? The Horror! Actually sword is perfectly viable. you can dodge within the animations between #3 and #1 AA. Also the #3 attack on sword will break the animation and reposition you. In PvP it is perfectly viable as a weapon. If you are not careful yes you can jump off cliffs but I find that it excels in chasing foes and that random gap closer if you target an enemy on the other side of the room on the Leap skill Hilarious that.

Obviously no spear cry but the stances are perfect. you cover anything you could need and really gives a range of options in one utility line. love them all esp if Melandrus Resilience is the heal skill. I found tigers fury hilarious btw.. with markmanship that would be Opening strike every…ummm 2 s on Spear and GS autos? Maybe just a bit OP idk

If you run radiance with right handed strength, one handed weapons, and empowering might then you can get decent mightstacking. Not as good as ele or engi but decent. Cele guard is interesting, esp with the burning changes. Personally I run radiance,, honor, valour with shouts and meditations. you could take virtues instead as you get that might on justice and extra condi cleanse.

the fun thing with one handed weapons is that with fury and right hand strength you can turn a 32% crit chance into a 67% crit chance. thats also why I like meditations and shouts for the fury on meditations and Feel my wrath

Personally I would like to see them made more akin to invulnerable banners with a very high up time & with a passive AOE buff and a second command skill very similar to what they have now.

I was thinking they should keep the SW’s away from the passive AoE buff, firstly so that you could have a more dynamic playstyle adnsecondly signets already provide Passive boosts. with that and the group wide traits from rangers,guards and warrs i dont think we need another set doing that

1. They can die too easily
2. They are inactive longer then they are active

All other Classes Summons(Banners, spirits, turrets, tthieves, elementals, minions, and illusions) have one thing in common, their Uptime is longer then their downtime. The ONLY Spirit weapon where this applies is the Sword, the others all have longer CD’s then durations. Now the other summons with longer recharges have something in common. They all last forever out of combat.

Now the most logical reason for this is that spirit weapons active times are so OP that they can be the only summons that have longer recharges the durations. Now this is possible due to the fact that you could possibly make an entirely spirit weapon build. They have damage, Crowd Control, Condition Damage, Condition Removal, Healing, Projectile defense, a Stun Break and Healing. Possibly a good point there. However you can’t utilize these. Why put so much awesome utility into something that might not be there? You will rely on a stun break if the object giving you it may not even survive long enough to be used. So let’s fix this

1. Give Spirit weapons enough health or toughness to survive long enough that you can actually use the activation skills, or use the base skills for longer then 5s

2. Reduce Recharges so that you can have them up for longer or back up quicker when they go down. Maybe so the duration is actually longer then the recharge

3. Give activated skills guarantees. IE you can use this skill twice before the weapon dies and the skill goes back on cooldown (bit like mantras) even if the weapon dies the activated skills last until their charges are used up

4. Redesign Weapons entirely.

Redesign Ideas

Get rid of physical weapons. Let them act as a buff effecting auto attacks that last for X amount of hits and grant an activated ability that must be used before the weapon can be “summoned” again

Sword of Justice(Instant Cast)
Next 10 autoattacks do extra damage(effected by current trait for burning)
Activated skill- Ghostly blue sword drops on target area causing vulnerabily and x damage. Blast finisher 5 Targets 25s CD

Hammer of Wisdom
Next 3 Autoattacks daze your target
Activated Skill- Ghostly Blue hammer drops on target area Knocking down up to 3 enemies. Blast finisher. 32s CD

Shield of the Avenger
Next 5 Autoattacks give retaliation and Stability
Activated Skill – Ghostly Blue Shield circles you, granting aegis and breaking stun 15s CD
Alternative- Ghostly Blue Shield creates a dome that blocks projectiles for 10s and breaks stun for everyone inside the dome Light Field 35s CD

Bow Of Truth
Next 5 Autoattacks cure a condition
Activated ability – Same as current, creates Light field

What do you guys think. Have any ideas for better Spirit Weapons? Want to see them actually become useful? Lets get Spirit Weapons useful again for more then just that blue shield projectile thing in that one dungeon….

ranger survival was nerfed a little in regards to grandmaster traits available. I used to run a varient of this build axe/dagger and sword/horn cele ranger.. it was very good sustain and damage. You can build yourself tankier with more high DPS pets like cats and birds with 25 stacks of might for damage. sustain was great against anything up to 1v3 unless you got I really good lockdown burst from like an engie/thief combo. I believe that Anet mostly broke the build with the new patch and not sure it can be ressurected as effectively, esp with off hand training gone. that being said i would put cele ranger over cele ele all day everyday

Technically speaking Spirits are everything you ever wanted in a utility line. Offers healing, condi cleanse, CC, damage, conditions, stunbreak. In practice yes those things are great but not for 5s every 40-50s

I love running them but you just really cant make them survive.. they are like 4 ghostly blue Logan Thackeray’s Having to be in the front line but not having what they need to actually survive there. Since they follow you, even the bow and shield get downed PDQ in any sort of AoE environment.

hat being said this patch was sort of a buff to spirit weapon builds and here is why.. Before patch you needed a 6/4/0/0/6 to get all your needed traits. (which was impossible btw) I ended up with a 6/2/0/0/6 most of the time.. Now with a lot of traits rolled baseline you can run into only 1 line for all your traits and keep 2 lines open for other things. Here is how it works. A spirit weapon build is really like playing two builds.

What you do when your weapons are up and what to do when they are not.. which means you need the other 2 lines to support your horrible life choices. Until they find a way to make them viable where they have to sustain where they have to function I dont see them being used

Resistance On Venoms

Currently, to run venoms you still need condi cleanse and a stunbreak to be even remotely viable in any gamemode. Which means you need traited Tricks, Deceptions or Signets.. So to run venoms we lose at leat 2 utility slots possibly 3 just to run 2-3 venoms. therefore putting a traitline, a master and a GM trait for 3 skills.. is it worth it? Esp if you want to buff idk.. anything else, including your stunbreak and condi cleanse?

-going tricks you would take withdraw and Roll for init. giving you an untraited 60 sec stunbreeak..you would lose bountiful theft to run your condi cleanse

-Deceptions gives you a 40s Stunbreak and a better condi cleanse heal and is in the same traitline. (lose shadows embrace for Deception recharge with that one

- Signets go horribly with a condi build, and wth are you running crit strikes with it

I understand that venoms are supposed to be added to a build in a few slots to add some damage but you are investing 2 major traits into them to buff them to viable lvls.. is it too much to ask for more utility? Giving them resistance fits perfectly lore wise and would let you lose some condi cleanse options for another venom or a better utility.

This is just an idea. What do you guys think?

Uncatchable would end up gaining an ICD if it actually procc’d a [Caltrops] on dodge instead of just the mini version.. that being said I was also sad due to lack of cleanse on dodge and would definitely like it see it have some synergy with other trick skills, traits even if it gains an ICD

I would say that your WvW build lacks condition removal except for the blind/poison on dodge roll. might want to fix that. I recommend Signet of Renewal, Healing Spring, Empathic Bond, or Survival of the Fittest. all good condi removal, with your build maybe swap Bark Skin for Empathic bond as lack of condition removal a real crutch. Also axe/dagger is a more common condition set then axe/horn because of bleeds on dagger However, i recognize the need for mobility is why you have the horn. Suggest swapping hunt for stone when roaming around until fights.

Your pvE build looks fairly meta.. keep in mind that your frost spirit is kinda bad without Vigourous spirits because 30% is a bad luck chance. So I would change Strength of spirit for that if you run the spirit. gets it up to 70%. thats all I can think of tbh..

Is it just me or is there no change to pet tooltips for pet traits? I realize some are Combat only and I havent tested opening up trait panels in combat to look at things.. but like speed training you cant tell what the number change is? or Loud Whistle. I find it rather annoying that I cant tell if my traits actually affect my pet at all based on the tooltips.

Shield Idea

What does Shield need? Viability. both of the other offhands (torch, and shield) have some kind of condi removal and some burst in thier skills. So how to make shield better

1. Give it condi removal. this ties into 1 other thing I noticed. there is no risk/ reward on the proc of shield 5. currently the only reason to leave the shield up the full duration is a projectile block that does not go with ANY traits and does it WORSE then WoR with more downtime.

I was thinking give it a condi removal per second of shield. as it lasts for 4s that gives you 4 conditions removed if you leave it up. this ties into what do you want more? pop the shild if you need a heal and leave it up if you need condi clear. this would also be removed for any ally inside the bubble, giving the bubble a purpose other then the really bad projectile defense.

2. Give Shield 4 resistance as well as protection, giving allies both protections from power and condi builds, as well as putting it on par with other offhands while still keeping the support nature that is it’s role. Either one of these ideas i think would be good.

So like the only way to viably play thief is near perma stealth…. love that build balance. 1 Way to l2p. Count me out. Steal is a class mechanic is you want something to compare to renewed focus. You can chain evade frames with s/d and blind spam with d/p still. Stealth is not a Thief thing.. Does it have more then other classes? yes Is it there Class Mechanic.. no. it is 1 way to play thief that focuses on stealth just as there are ways to play that rely on evade, or daze.

If this is an actual change and not actually a bug then i agree with it, although 2s may be a bit much. I would rather just have a way to keep tabs on thiefs, general vicinity, there is no reason to break it into 2s revealed in stealth builds. I also think that SR shouldn’t break it as it’s specific purpose, IE long CD, long duration stealth is the entire purpose of it. therefore the pulses shouldnt affect it or change the pulse. It really doesnt have to pulse stealth anymore as you cant leave it early without getting revealed anymore anyway

Life Siphon on GS

Is it just me or will this not be as good as we would like.. Life Siphon scales rather poorly unless they have changed it and works better with multiple, smaller hits as opposed to slower, larger hits since the increased damage of the hit does not change the effect of the Life Siphon. Yes you get more AoE but I still believe your attack speed is going to be too slow to make a difference and thus Life Siphon on GS will be even worse then dagger.

Really I cant see this trait being used esp with the Chill gives might trait(although will chill damaging and might stacks cele necro….)

I would much rather have the bonus life siphon be given to Reapers Shroud or just an entirely different change to the GS trait. UNLESS (very unlikely) they boost life siphon scaling or…..??

TL : DR. Attacks on GS too slow to make Life Siphon decent

Less builds? Possibly. It IS true that you can no longer split trait choices into different lines to varying degrees. Now you will have to make sure there are 3 good traits in each line you take and 1 in each tier since you can no longer bump adept and master traits to a master or GM trait spot. For Instance Support Guard 0/1/6/6/1 is dead due to the fact that you can no longer go 4 lines and and you have to go fully into a line not just to the minor trait choice. HOWEVER this has opened up 0/0/6/6/6.

Also meta builds are destroying Build diversity ie trait this way or you will not do the maximum amount of damage and therefore be a burden/less effective. I rather feel that they have created more Build diversity by streamlining traitlines, making it easier to trait builds that used to be hard to get due to the number of different traits in different lines needed to maximize the effectiveness of the line. (eg Spirit Weapon traits for Guardian existing in 3 different trait lines, including all 3 in Zeal.

Lastly I feel that instead of just THIS build is maximum DPS they have introduced new traits that will allow more ways to achieve what you want whether it is max dps or max support, or something in between. TBH the lose of build diversity is builds, traits and trait line combo’s that no one used anyway because they were not in the meta or because the traits were less effective

Also, with the traits all merged Healing surge as a shout would give you the 30 adrenaline (full) and then also the 8 from inspiring Shouts which is a waste

New traits + One handed weapons

Seems there is a lot of division here. to run a sword/X axe/X build with say a warhorn and a dagger ( my build ) you need 4 traits if you want the bonuses for them. considering how they buffed them to not just be CD recharge anymore they all look really good.

Soo.. with that set-up I need 4 traits, 2 of which are grandmaster. That would be max but the lowest you could get to have bonuses on all the one handed weapons you have would be 3 traits.

What Changed – No one took the axe trait before it only had ferocity and no CD so you could skip it. same with sword trait as it did CD on both GS and Sword so you would have to run double melee to fully utilize it so maybe live with it. Now both sword and axe traits are major buffs, and are grandmaster. but is just buffing your weapons enough to make up for the other GM traits in that line?. and as for offhand training now we get 2 seperate for them? Suddenly making the most of 1 handed weapons involves a lot of traits in awkward spots. not sure how fun that will be.

Oh and the range increase on offhand weapons? did I miss it or did it become baseline or is it gone?

So… we learned today on livestream that Mending is becoming a physical skill and Healing Surge a shout…. Where is the synergy there??

Did I hear wrong? did they swap them. Healing surge is all about adrenaline how is that NOT a Physical change??? And I think Mending would be a better shout, it has the same CD and heal. Healing surge is all about different adrenaline stages which is what all physical skills are becoming. Makes more sense to me as mending a shout and Healing surge a Physical skill.

Also with the shout trait suddenly Healing surge is giving you… 38 Adrenaline. so you get more then you can even have…

Am I way off base here or get something wrong. Whats with this???

This is a a good idea but I’m not sure about the Objective holder one. I mean sitting at home all game doing nothing is not a reason to get points. Objective defender in this case works well because it shows how many times you have defended a point not that you stood on one all game

So, no one really uses the “New” healing skills like

Litany Of Wrath
Defiant Stance
Skelk Venom
Signet of the Ether
Signet of Vampirism
A.E.D
Arcane Brilliance
Water Spirit

With the possible exception of Arcane Brilliance and Signet of the Ether. As a whole they are Extremely Situational and not very reliable. I don’t think Ive ever seen anyone use the water spirit however it may just be completely useless…

However, there design is good. They are heals that reduce the base heal but offer you a chance to do your healing through damage ie playing normally while still getting a heal. This allows you to continue to do damage while staying alive. Sounds good in theory.

So now you have heals that are not as good up front but give you a benefit to continue attacking. just click it and off you..oh wait no. they all have a cast time, in some cases a long one. Suddenly the benefit is not so great because they are easily interrupt able and not easy to actually activate. now the benefit of being able to heal while still attacking is not enough to way the risks of activating it in the first place.

So to fix it? make them instant cast, so that they can be actually useful. Defiant stance is the closest at the 1/4 s mark but having any cast time ruins the flow and immediately takes away from them. and no they will not be OP… no one even uses them although they have some of the best potential in the game. you can trait to improve them and continue your damage while using them.

If you improve a Skill no one uses is it really a buff?

I think of axe as a 900 range AoE weapon. I run axe/dagger and sword/ warhorn and if you trait right the damage can be very impressive. Boss fights in dungeons not so much but anything trash or lots of mobs it is really good. Honestly to play end game ranger you should have all the weapons and swap them out based on the situation. Is Longbow better damage? yes is Barrage a good AoE? yes. but barrage has a long CD and if they move then it is wasted. and Axe is far better then Shortbow no matter what for a 900 range weapon

1. Fix Sword. idc about the autoattack #3 even though yes it is annoying just Git rid of zealots defense omg its the worst. Dont even replace it with anything if you dont want i just want it gone.

2. Spirit Weapons being unkillable again or at least less squishy. I mean Conjures are the most broken thing in this game. they are really well designed as a set but its darn near impossible to use em since all they do is die in anything bigger then 2v2

3. I wish there was an incentive to keep the shield #5 up. when I do shield i just spam it for the KB and heal. lets buff it so there is some sort of benefit for leaving it up, in a melee since like if an enemy is in the ring it burns them or applies protection to allies I dunno. Same with Mace #3 lets not have it proc on ranged attack so we have a decent gap closer

Honestly 1/4 s Cast time is pretty dang un-interruptable. yep you can use weapons at the same time but you want to complain check out Litany of Wrath on Guard forums. It has a 3/4s Cast time. I wouldnt complain with what you got

I really think that comparing heals on stat baseline’s is a waste of time. there are too many variable’s in any situation that would mitigate or change what heal is more effective.

Is the enemy actually hitting you during shelter? If not then not as effective. Do they have an Unblockable Poison field to drop on you ? then not as effective. Are you wasting time doing no damage for 2 s while the opponent is full healing or resetting? then not as effective

Have you traited fully into Meditations? If so Litany of Wrath can heal for drastically more. It has everything you need. decent base heal to keep you up, decent burst skills on guard that allow you to proc it well (GS#2, Scepter #2, Torch #5 even sword# 3) and even fury to increase your damage for when you need your damage high. you can even trait for Retal on heal so even when enemies hit you, you heal. However, same applies. IS there poison on you? Can you cast it reliably before your burst skills? If the CC you what do you have to get out of it? If the CC you during it same thing except now you lost your heal.

So its all about do you have the skill or patience to run a heal where the risk is higher but you have a guaranteed full heal if it goes off? Or do you want to stay back and sacrifice some damage and pressure for much less of a heal on a longer CD. I have used both, and in fairness, although I have used Litany effectively and love the heal it gives, the risks are very high and if kited, results can be bad

Welcome to how to Troll In WvW.

Step #1 Get a Guard. Get Friends with Guards
Step #2 Level to 80 and Get a scepter/ shield and hammer
Step #3 Trait for, Meditation Mastery, Consecrated Ground, Master of Consecrations, Honorable Shield and 2- Handed Mastery. NOTE : some of these traits can be dropped this will give you the most bubbles. other traits can help you actually “kill things”
Step #4 Utilities – Sanctuary (Now Ground targeted), Merciful Intervention), Your Choice
Step #5 Ring Of Warding and Shield of Absorption have almost the same CD, 32s and 24s. if traited. (really you can drop Shield trait as then the CD’s will match almost perfectly) USE THEM TOGETHER! This will Create kitten long Sanctuary on a 32s CD which is LARGER and you cannot be hit in at all.

Step #6 JUMPING! Make sure to be in at least 2 groups. You have 2 bubbles at your disposal Sanctuary and our Warding bubble. Sanctuary will heal for more but is smaller and has a WAYYY longer CD. You will stay within 1,200 range of each other and use Merciful Intervention to teleport between bubbles. Always STAY IN your bubbles so that allies can port to you. Ranged weapons well as you can stay in your bubbles and hit them. If they Swarm a bubble that guardian will teleport out and split off again. you can trait more Squishy because bubbles will protect you.

Step #7.. Laugh and laugh and Laugh…

Step #8 ADVANCED USERS. If you are in TS and have 2 or more guards in each group you can have one pop ring of warding and the other one pop shield of Absorption. this means that you will always have one component of a bubble available if you switch groups.
