Enhanced Squad UI Feedback

I can’t say what feedback will and will not make it to the actual release of the Enhanced Squad UI, but it’s all appreciated!

This is from another thread for WvW squad UI:

For WvW only…

A better way might be to simplify it based on player/commander’s mouse-click events…(concept screenshot attached)

**Since there’s limited screen space, it might be better to “remove” player names from the icons since in battle you’d have no time to read them anyways…

Also thought about the simplified UI with bars in vertical fashion adopted from another post (credits to that poster), it’d work for 10 man raids for sure with condition floaters to the right of each player health bar, but you might run out of space on the left side with 50 people if it’s WvW…

Thanks!
~Woop S

I’d increase the size of the command menu. It is too small, which means there would be a high degree of error in clicking the right command. At most, a commander will have it visible for seven seconds, so increasing the size (therefore taking up a bit more viewing area) would not hinder gameplay too much. Generally, a task that needs to be completed quickly needs to have larger assets than a task that is not time-dependent. (Compare Photoshop’s assortment of tiny icons to the large interface of most action video games.)

The legends hardly speak.

After reading the lore post about them, I was expecting the legends to comment more on what you do and maybe even make random comments out of combat…almost like Ho-Ho-Tron. Of course, there should be a way to mute them with a settings option, but I was kind of disappointed that Malik says hardly anything.

My warrior is—by far—the most beautiful human female in all of Tyria.

I prefer your warrior over most of the other characters posted here.

Is she super pretty? No. But she actually looks like a capable warrior and her scars and flaws actually give her character.

Your character looks realistic and believable, unlike all those 16-years-old skinny teenagers with incredibly skimpy outfits that the other people are posting here.

Thanks! I wanted a female warrior who looked like she had been through a lot of crap in her life.

A lot of people like pretty characters and there’s nothing wrong with that. My warrior used to be kind of pretty. But when I started getting into the lore and I decided to roleplay, I realized that it might be kind of fun to play an atypical character. However, I’ve always been a fan of somewhat practical armor/clothing regardless of gender…

Anyways, pretty characters are fine. My necro is adorable and pretty. It fits her character, though.

Please Address the Female Human Animation

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Eudaemons.1596

Eudaemons.1596

Honestly, I think they need to make completely new idle animations for female humans/norn (female norn use the same idles, it seems). The “popping your spine” animation is kind of weird and never really fit in. Same with kicking the dirt. The idle animations tend to show off a little bit of the race. Sylvari are curious, asura are precocious, male norn are tough, charr are taking in their surroundings…but female humans/norn like to kick rocks and are in desperate need of a chiropractor?

I think a better idea might be to have an animation where they put their hands on their hips and tap a foot impatiently. Maybe another animation could look like they’re brushing dust off their armor. Really, just anything that makes a little more sense.

It doesn’t change the color of anything. It’s a bug.

I have to say, that is really impressive armor. And thanks for posting the variations — nice to see!

Would it be possible for Anet to help those of us who go helmetless and dislike the awkward lack of neck? :c

I agree with this, although it’s interesting that charr and asura (the two races that usually get shafted when it comes to armor) actually end up looking better than the humanoids without a helmet.

But the floating helmetless head is really unfortunate. I think that if they added in a metal collar around the neck area and made the lava a bit lower so it wasn’t chin-level, it would look 100x better without the helmet.

Lyndis is talking about how the outfit looks terrible without the helmet. The lava is swallowing your head.

An easy fix would be to make the 4th dye channel that isn’t being used to dye the lava. If you can dye the lava a metallic color or Abyss, it would just look like it’s part of the armor. Another fix would be to change the shape of the lava a bit so it doesn’t come up to the chin of humans/sylvari/norn. It’s a problem for both genders on humanoid races, regardless of body type.

Oh wow, that picture has me laughing! I think it’s so funny that I actually hope this doesn’t change.

But…this is like the next best thing to getting male Phalanx armor on female characters.

I paid good money to customize my character’s head, so I want to show it off!

Just follow the lore for naming conventions. All 12 of my characters follow the lore naming conventions. Probably the hardest time I’ve ever had is with asura, but I have Varukk and Jommra, which are pretty nice names for asura IMO.

Charr and norn are probably the easiest, since you can come up with a common first name and a creative last name. My charr are Ralla Shieldbreaker, Nerva Spiritwalker, and Arrak Shadewalker, with my future female charr mesmer being named Miria Mindbreaker and male charr necromancer as Bram Lifebreaker.

I tried it on every other race/gender and weirdly, it’s only huge on female humans. The boots fit close to the armor otherwise.

Ever since December 2013 (and way before the wardrobe update), Wide Rim Glasses, Sport Sunglasses, Aviator Sunglasses, and the Bunny Ears have yet to return to the Gem Store. It would be awesome for them to make a reappearance in the store, if only for a limited time!

Eudaemons.1596

You can piece together a really nice assassin outfit with the CoE armor and a few other sets to make your female thief look like a real assassin.

I kind of ignore the latest costumes because I only see them as a temporary set for below 80 characters. I guess ANet thought that kind of outfit would sell the best, so that’s what they did. It’s not like you can’t make your own assassin outfit with other armor sets. At least GW2 gives you a choice between outrageous and practical.

If you want to look well-protected as a female character, the Ascalonian Catacombs, Cadaecus’ Manor, Citadel of Flame, and Sorrow’s Embrace armor are generally the more realistic and practical of the armor sets for all classes (CoF is a bit over the top, though). I like to think my warrior is pretty kitten awesome.

The human female ones look just like the other faces. In fact, the two non-freckled faces are identical except one has redder lips and eyeshadow. Human female faces in general look really similar to each other, maybe with a bit more makeup on some of them than others.

I kind of wish that humans had an option for makeup like norns have for their tattoos. It would mean that ANet would be forced to make more diverse faces than releasing identical faces with two different makeup versions.

Is a scarred female face too much to ask for? (the current one looks like tiny paper cuts.)

We want the new spiky norn hair for humans!

Eudaemons.1596

This is AN’s fault.
IMO EVERY non-race unique face & haircut should be spread. For example, at the worth of hair/makeover kit, why not allowing humans to have a norn cut and vica versa?
They’re the same species. And humans don’t have any speciality. Not even tattoos or scars.

Even Asurans could have Charr haircut. Its just Hair. Soft Fur.

Only real unique remains the Sylvary, and thats good. They’re the new shiney race of GW2, so go ahead.

That new predator hairstyle on an asura? YES.

However, norns and humans have the same head shapes, but the norn head is a lot bigger. It really wouldn’t be that hard to make norn hair on humans and vice versa. I can understand them wanting norns to have norn-like hairstyles, but they kind of threw that consistency out the window with the spiky hair.

And that’s like the faces. A lot of human players would love to have norn faces because the male ones look older and rugged, and there’s that really good scarred norn female face that’s 100x better than the female human option. I think male norns have different noses and brows than human males, but female norns are literally giant versions of human females without much change except for one body shape that’s muscular.

See the attached picture for what I’m talking about. This hairstyle is way too good to be norn-exclusive! Human males need some more short, normal hairstyles. I don’t think this hairstyle looks to be something exclusive to the norn race, like other hairstyles with headbands and braids.

It would benefit the entire game, from guild chat to PvP. I don’t really PvP, but in WvW and Guild Chat, it’d be so awesome to go by usernames so your guildmates or WvW commander knows you’re a certain person, despite playing on an alternate character.

Eudaemons.1596

I think the real issue is not due to skimpiness, but due to the fact that the /only/ new content for chest/legs is being released in the gem store. A huge chunk of the player base plays the heavy armor classes. The only heavy gem store armor for females is skimpy except Primeval, which is probably the gem store armor I see the most because the legs and chest are excellent.

There’s no variety. All of the sets after Primeval are practically cloth. Braham’s gets a pass because it’s based off an NPC and it looks identical to the male version. Phalanx chest/legs don’t look like heavy armor, but cloth. It looks like something for a light armor. The male version looks 100x better. Aetherblade has an awesome chestplate for males, females get some sort of bodysuit with belts…which doesn’t look like heavy armor. It looks like medium or light armor.

This is such a simple request…but can we please get heavy armor that actually looks like heavy armor? The only set for female humanoids is Primeval and for males/asura/charr, it’s Primeval or Phalanx.

I’ve been seeing more complaints lately that the Gem Store heavy armor skins for female humanoids generally don’t look like heavy armor. Maybe it was cool the first few times to have something that didn’t look metal plate-y, but now it’s just boring. The worst part is that the only new chest/leg armor designs being released is through the Gem Store.

I’m currently wearing the leggards with it and T3 boots/gloves, T2 shoulders, and Primeval helm and I was told that it looks “ridiculous and stupid” by multiple people.

I want to keep the chestplate, but anything else is changeable (including colors). I’m not too keen on the leggards.

Female Phalanx Armor?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Eudaemons.1596

Eudaemons.1596

I’ve been gone for quite some time and I came back to tons of awesome stuff in the Gem Store. The one disappointing thing was the female Phalanx armor. It looked really awesome on my male character, but on my human female? It’s not even the same theme or even close. Most of the armor in the game is thematically close between genders, but there’s no thematic match between the two. They look like completely different sets.

Has ANet said anything about releasing a female version close to the male version (and vice versa?)

Idle, emote animations change based on personality

in Suggestions

Posted by: Eudaemons.1596

Eudaemons.1596

Right now, personalities feel…lackluster. It is a great idea, but it doesn’t feel like it effect how my character actually acts in the world. While doing some RPing yesterday and sitting for a long time, I realized how ridiculous my fully armored, rather tall female human warrior looks when sitting like that “draw me like one of your French girls” pose. It might be cute for the petite, charming Mesmer girl, but not my character.

Maybe, idle animations and emotes could change based on personalities. A barbaric character could punch at the air or grunt randomly when idle. A scoundrel could look around suspiciously as if he/she was looking to commit a petty crime. A militant character could sit very rigid with the sit emote or yell “Get over here!” when you use the beckon emote.

Anyone else have any more suggestions? I feel like seeing every single human female, NPC, mob or player stretching when idle or jumping and clapping like a preppy teenage girl looks cheesy. It could add variation to the world. (I haven’t played much of the other races, so it has yet to annoy me.)

My human female warrior wears massive armor, has the “warrior” body type, is probably half-Norn since she is the tallest a human can be and is militant.

Yet she makes squeaking noises when swinging a longsword or jumping. Okay, maybe it’s cute for that little petite Mesmer girl in the Embroidered clothes, but it is ridiculous for my character to make those noises.
