whats the best elite mastery skill line

If your inventory is full, you’ll get a message saying so, and it won’t autoloot the items. It doesn’t encumber you, and you can still loot the items you didn’t have space for as you would without the mastery.

Yeah, my rates have continued to be roughly the same, though it’s not like I have hundred of harvests myself for any really good data. I still get the 10’s on occasion, not really any more or less than I had before, closer to the release.

Also seconding what Frizz said. I can still harvest nodes in 2 guild halls I’m in, with one at the second to last upgrade (8 lumber/ore, 2 plant harvests each) and the other a step behind (6 lumber/ore, 2 plant harvests each).

Mystic Chromatic Ooze item questions

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: MasterJediSoda.5926

MasterJediSoda.5926

1. To my knowledge, yes, and you get it early in the tier 3 collection.

2. All you do is use the item from your inventory, and it provides the effect (until recently it didn’t if you’d finished the collection, but now it does – I have one and can confirm that if need be). You can be in combat or anything else, though it doesn’t work in certain areas like raids.

Also, the precursor is not actually account bound. I thought it would be based on the blog posts, but my interpretation (after I realized it didn’t outright say it was) ended up wrong. I have crafted the precursor through the collection, and I have the option to sell it on the trading post. EDIT: I mean that for the gen 1 legendaries, not the new ones, of course.

(As a quick aside, to the person I was arguing with on that, sorry, I could’ve handled that better, especially at the start.)

Get enough hero points to "max" every skill?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: MasterJediSoda.5926

MasterJediSoda.5926

Yes, and more. You’ll get enough hero points to unlock all core skills and traits just by hitting level 80, and can get them sooner by doing hero challenges for more.

Assuming you have the expansion, you’ll also have more than enough to unlock the elite specialization after you unlock all core abilities, though you’ll have to get at least some in the new zones (or through WvW), as there aren’t quite enough in the core maps.

Not odd at all. I’m not sure where or when they stated it would be tedious to make masteries character unlocks (though I can agree with that sentiment, and it would feel like grinding reputation), but they provide something that’s the same regardless of what character you’re using.

Meanwhile, elite specs are tied to your profession, giving skills and traits that only that profession has. Specializations (trail lines prior) have also never been unlocked on new characters for having done it before, so there’s no change there. If you want to argue the initial cost of unlocking was high, go right ahead – but that’s already been changed, so there’s not much reason to use it in an argument anymore.

There’s a device near the workshop that you need to interact with, which builds these and has a separate queue for WvW schematics, and PvE banners, decorations, and other related items. You’ll need to change to the WvW tab to see them once you interact with it.

EDIT: Oh, and without having the permission to edit the processing queue, you won’t be able to see the items in that window.

Hey – was away for a bit, but have you both added now.

tbh – I don’t think we have people running dungeons as much as we used to, but it never hurts to shout in guild chat, just try to remember to let people know you’re new to it. Several of us have run dungeons a lot though. Fractals are a bit more common at the moment. And for anything else, feel free to ask any questions you have!

synk – Similar to what I said above. Mesmer/chronomancer has been my main for quite a while too, and I’ve enjoyed it immensely.

I had some luck with my first dungeon run a few years ago. Before the LFG panel, when some of us use gw2lfg to find groups. Had a rather fun mostly guardian run in TA story. Hopefully you guys get to experience some of that too.

A little help with Scribing

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: MasterJediSoda.5926

MasterJediSoda.5926

I made several Guild Banquet Schematics, as it seemed to be the best choice I had, with crafting boosters going. But yeah, scribe tends to be expensive to work on, and that will only get harder for you (especially if you don’t have guildies helping, sending resonating slivers, etc…) if you’re having trouble now.

Didn’t have any WvW schematics open at the time, though we have a couple now, so if any are available at that level (haven’t checked my list, and nothing on the wiki for that right now), they would probably be cheaper.

What they changed was the paper being account bound – you can find it on the trading post now, or get a friendly scribe to make it for you. It would take 65 elder wood planks, 13 jugs of water, and 13 bolts of silk to make the paper, and after that, if you have a high level weaponsmith, you can make the anthology yourself.

MasterJediSoda.5926

Angel, we’ve known that about Guild Missions since at least June.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-halls-missions-for-all/

As a result, we decided that in the new system, guild missions will be free to run as much as you want. Each mission will give its bounty of favor only once per week, on the first successful run, but each member can get their personal commendation rewards by running the mission at any time during the week, even if the guild has already completed it.

And it’s been stated more recently, including a blog post a couple weeks ago. It would be nice to get a refund on them for those who built them anyway, but it’s not like we didn’t have warning.

Ascended trinkets first or ascended armor?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: MasterJediSoda.5926

MasterJediSoda.5926

Those accessories all go in different slots (which has to do with why some cost different amounts) – you can see more on each of them here:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_ascended_trinkets

Before I go into each category, keep in mind that rings and accessories (earrings) are Unique, and you can’t have 2, say, Red Rings of Death equipped at once. However, there are 2 versions (3 for amulets) of each stat combo, where the only difference is the infusion slot. For the time being, with the exception possibly of the amulet, you won’t need to worry about the type of slot.

For the amulets (which you were seeing for 30 laurels, with better stats), I suggest buying them from WvW. They cost 20 laurels and 250 badges of honour there, and even if you don’t have any badges, they can be obtained easily with a little time in Edge of the Mists.

For the accessories (which had certain ones buyable, if you’d unlocked already, for 40 laurels and 5g, or from the laurel vendor for 40 laurels and 50 ectos), I suggest buying them from the guild commendation vendor. They cost 12 commendations and 5g that way, and you can get 6 commendations each week from doing guild missions, which have been stated to still exist as rewards with the expansion.

- If you aren’t in a guild that runs missions, you can usually ask around. Sometimes guilds will even post in lfg, and there are guilds that don’t mind taking other people along with them. Mine does it on friday nights, for example, with everyone welcome.

If you don’t feel like buying with commendations and gold, then you have the more expensive option I noted above already.

For the rings, if you can do fractals I suggest doing that. Especially if there’s a fractal daily, you can save up pristine relics from a run each day. Going over level 10 can get some as drops – many people who run fractals have several rings that dropped that we’re now looking forward to salvage with the expansion.

If you don’t want to do fractals, you can buy them from the laurel vendor as well, for 35 laurels, or for 25 laurels and 250 badges of honour at the vendor in WvW, which I still suggest to use.

Backpieces, if you want an ascended one specifically, will require using the mystic forge, and there are some on the link I posted above.

Finally, the more recent stat combos will have a different method to obtain them, such as the Living Story Season 2 achievements for sinister items.

How to cancel an item in the queue?

There should be a button around the queue that allows you to edit it (not ingame so I can’t see it, and a quick check online doesn’t show a good image).

When you start editting the queue, there are the up and down buttons by each line (assuming they aren’t already being built). Next to those is a button with a horizontal line through it – click that to remove it, or just press the down button to move it below what you want to build – again, assuming it’s not already being built.

Advantages of crafting

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: MasterJediSoda.5926

MasterJediSoda.5926

If you eventually go for a legendary, you’ll also need 2 specific crafting disciplines at 400 (where you need level 500 to be able to make ascended gear). The disciplines you need depend on the legendary. You’ll still need that if you go for a precursor with the new system we’re getting, since that only gets the precursor and not the legendary.

Also, for ascended drops you get, you’ll need an exotic inscription/insignia to change the stats – and if it’s in a crafting discipline, you may have gathered the materials you need to make it by that point. Convenient, but you could still buy the item if you’d rather do that. And some things, like Mawdrey, has at least 1 account bound item in the process you’ll have to craft.

MasterJediSoda.5926

Just a note, you might’ve realized it already:

Hero points are basically what you remember as skill points. The skill points you got from leveling don’t exist anymore, and those we had, or got from scrolls or tomes of knowledge, were changed to spirit shards, which are used to buy stuff for the mystic forge now (before, we used excess skill points there).

Hero points you get by leveling, and from doing hero challenges, which used to be skill challenges. With maybe a few exceptions in the starter areas, they work the same way they did in the past, so you’ve probably already made progress.

Did Anyone Unlock Precursor Mastery?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: MasterJediSoda.5926

MasterJediSoda.5926

Here, I’ll just take that in full.

Each legendary weapon has two main themes that will be represented in the precursor journey. The first tier of a precursor journey starts with a collection built around one of these themes. Let’s use the Moot as an example. A moot is a norn celebration of prowess, so that’s the basis of our themes for the legendary mace named for it. The first collection is all about the hunt, so you’ll be proving your abilities by fighting fierce creatures around Tyria and acquiring a trophy to show for it. By completing this collection, you’ll unlock a recipe to craft the first iteration of your precursor—a nontradable exotic weapon with a distressed version of the existing precursor skin. It could use a little polish and refinement, which will be the focus of the second tier collection.

The second collection in your journey involves doing your research, talking to the experts, and honing your craft. You’ll need to barter for knowledge, seek out great minds and convince them to teach you their tricks, and prove your ability at the crafting workbench. All this work allows you to refine your base precursor into its next iteration. Completing this collection unlocks a recipe to do just that, resulting in another nontradable exotic weapon with the existing precursor skin.

The final collections in these precursor journeys return to the themes of their respective legendary weapon. For the Moot, this is where the celebrating starts. Since the Moot’s theme is all about partying, you’ll participate in a range of activities that include dancing with world leaders, setting off fireworks for the Spirits of the Wild, and sampling delicacies and libations from around Tyria. This final collection unlocks the recipe to craft the polished final iteration of the precursor. For all of our existing precursors, this is a tradable exotic weapon, but they will all be updated to use new skins that look much like the legendary weapons they’ll one day become. We like to think of these new precursor skins as the legendary weapon before it is embodied by its soul. Unlocking one of these new skins in your wardrobe will also unlock the two previous tiers of skins. So, should you get lucky and find a precursor out in the world, you won’t miss out on the skins.

This crafting system is an account-based activity, which means you’ll only be able to craft each precursor this way once. However, all of the currently existing precursor acquisition methods will remain intact in addition to this new acquisition method. That means that if you want a particular precursor more than once, you’ll have to fall back to the original methods of acquisition.

Once you have your completed precursor, you are free to begin the process of turning it into a legendary weapon. It’s a long process of gathering the required materials to craft gifts that will eventually be given to Zommoros—the djinn at the heart of the Mystic Forge—who in return gifts you with your powerful legendary weapon.

Map Bonuses

While the update to precursor acquisition makes for a huge change in the way we craft legendary weapons, our new Map Bonuses system will also make acquiring the materials you need a more directed activity. With Heart of Thorns, most explorable maps will have an associated set of bonus rewards that rotate on a regular basis. Starter maps will not be included in order to preserve the new-player experience. By completing events, jumping puzzles, and mini-dungeons in a map, you’ll be periodically awarded with one of its associated bonuses in addition to the normal rewards. For most maps, the bonus reward will be crafting materials. For instance, playing in Cursed Shore could reward you with ancient bones, charged cores, charged lodestones, or giant eyes during one rotation, and powerful venom sacs, glacial cores, glacial lodestones, or globs of ectoplasm during another rotation.

Maps like the Silverwastes or Dry Top that have a dedicated currency will work a little differently. For these maps, bandit crests and geodes have been something of a test for this concept, where you’re rewarded with these currencies through a bouncy chest for playing on the map. The Map Bonuses system is a more streamlined experience, and with Heart of Thorns, these maps will be updated to always award currencies through the Map Bonuses system. Moving forward, any map with a similar currency will also work within the Map Bonuses system.
The goals of this system are to provide ways for players to target the materials they need, let players know exactly where to obtain those materials, and help all explorable maps always feel like relevant and rewarding places to play.

New Legendary Weapons

I know you’re all dying for more information on new legendary weapons, but we’d like to delve into them more with a dedicated blog post in the future. For now, I’ll say that we’ve been working kitten new legendary weapons, the first handful of which will be introduced in Heart of Thorns, with more to come in subsequent updates. The methods by which you’ll craft these legendary weapons are similar to the existing system, but we’ve refined it into more of a journey, similar to precursor crafting. We also want to better preserve the prestige associated with crafting a legendary weapon, so the new legendary weapons, and their precursors, will not be tradable. Keep an eye out—we can’t wait to start showing them off when they’re ready!

I admit that I could have misread the last part, taking new legendary weapons to mean all the legendaries we craft this way and not just the HoT ones, but it still does say that the precursors crafted this way will not be tradable. Given that it doesn’t explicitly state it in the blog post that legendaries will be, I don’t see any discrepancies here.

EDIT: We could also just be looking at what they mean by “existing” precursors differently too. I take it to mean that precursors obtained the way they currently are, and those that exist going into the expansion, will continue to be tradable, and not that an existing precursor here simply means one that already exists, even if obtained in the new way.

“This final collection unlocks the recipe to craft the polished final iteration of the precursor. For all of our existing precursors, this is a tradable exotic weapon”

If they have since changed from that, please provide the source.

Actually, you should read what you quoted again. It says “For all of our existing precursors, this is a tradable exotic weapon”

Dadnir has it right. The line in that very blog post talking about the new precursors says:

Guild bank and transferring to new server.

It used to be separated by servers, but for, I want to say, a year now, everything guildwise is global. It’s very nice to be able to see what people throw into the guild bank despite being on another server, or sharing the guild buffs globally, for example.

Along with that – if you have the correct story chapter activated, there will be a green star on her location.

Can’t believe I forgot to mention the copperfed salvage-o-matic, that thing is amazing! Good call on the LS season 2 pack, I forget sometimes that newer players don’t have it.

I’d second bank storage, though you can always hold off for now and see if there’s something else you’d rather have later. If you go for storage, I highly suggest bank storage first. For one thing, you lose the unlocked bag slots if you delete the character you put them on. As you get further, you can also get up to 100 inventory slots without buying more. You could even get a character slot to use as more space, and then park them in certain locations to pick things up that show up daily.

If you go for the unlimited tools, keep in mind that the Watchwork pick is the only one that has a bonus besides never breaking – it has a small chance to get a watchwork sprocket with each time you mine. If you start with that now, and gather everything you can find (and these are all account bound, so you can move it to any alts), you will have a nice stockpile before you get to the point you might use them. Even if you don’t use them, you can sell them for a fair bit of gold. As of now, each sprocket sells for a bit more than 3 silver, which adds up.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Watchwork_Mining_Pick

EDIT: Don’t expect any other gathering tools to be added that have a special bonus like this. There was outrage, rightfully I’d say, when this came up, since it comes closer to being pay to ‘win’ than almost anything else, rather than convenience.

Otherwise, if you’re up for using them for something that’s not about function, grab something cosmetic. An outfit can be worn while leveling and using a mix of gear that you might not like visually. It can’t be customized like armor skins, and is more limited in dye channels, but it doesn’t care about the armor you have for the look.

I’d also go for waiting to see what sales they might put in in the future though. One of the only things I’d consider going for now, if you get it, is the pick I mentioned.

Getting ascended gear?

in Players Helping Players

First of all, if you want them in bulk, you’re either going to need extreme luck or gold… or you’re going to need to do fractals. Fractal runners, starting in the teens, will end up with plenty of rings.

Another note that might be handy for you: if you have living story season 2, you can get nomads and sinister trinkets from there, and then farm silverwastes to buy more. I didn’t think about that until after I wrote the rest of this, but that’s probably your best bet, assuming you can salvage them like the others, which I would expect.
EDIT: It will still be expensive, at 10g and 1k bandit crests. But if you’re adamant about not doing fractals, it’s probably between this and how many laurels you’re willing to spend.

Other than getting really lucky with drops (or fractal daily rewards at higher tiers), you cannot get armor or weapons without crafting. That is doable without entering fractals too. (Triple Trouble can also drop ascended items, but it’s rare as well. I have yet to get one from that. Haven’t gotten a Teq’s Hoard yet, but he did drop an armor chest for me once.)

As for the other items – fractals only make it easy to get rings (other than the weapon/armor chests you have a chance for in dailies at higher levels). Those you can also get by spending 35 laurels.

The earrings would be the easiest, if you do guild missions. 5 gold and 12 commendations (2 weeks worth of missions – personal rewards reset on Saturday) will get you one. Otherwise, 40 laurels and 50 ectos.

Amulets are the cheapest with this – 30 laurels.

In all cases, you can cut the price down by 10 laurels if you add 250 badges of honour from WvW – and though you may scoff at that, Edge of the Mists can get you those extremely quickly, with little (likely) fighting other players, if at all.

What to do with Fractal Relics

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: MasterJediSoda.5926

MasterJediSoda.5926

The first tab is all stuff that you buy with the regular relics, the second (rings and mists stone) the pristine relics.

So, you can get the first stage of the fractal backpiece, 20 slot bags, and a few other things with the regulars.

You were never able to convert regular relics to pristines (unless very early on, but if so it doesn’t matter now), and the pristine to regular relic conversion is now handled at the same npc, since pristines went into the wallet recently.

As some people have suggested, it seems to show up for those classes that have elite specs shown, and available for the beta weekend. When I’m on any of my other classes, it doesn’t show, but it does come up on my mesmer, ele, guard, and necromancer, which all have elites people can try out this weekend.

As if the system sees the elites being available and us having points, but us not being able to see them, or spend them.

And while it wasn’t actually asked, just in case it’s not known – cultural weapons (bought with karma) do not have that restriction, only the armor is race-locked. You don’t even need to be a particular race to buy the weaponry.

Great Fractal change but I have one ISSUE.

Dev Tracker is another good thing to check, for future reference. Part of this was also answered through a post you can see there.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/devtracker

To clarify on what the “Static Schedule” means:

Old System:
Every time you load in from Dessa’s Lab, a random fractal is chosen. If you want to play Swamp, you have to leave and re-enter, “rerolling” until you get that fractal.

New System:
Upon loading in from Dessa’s Lab, you are placed in a particular fractal depending on which scale you are playing at. If you want to play Swamp, all you’ll have to do is enter at a scale associated with it.

Hope this helps!

So these will change daily? Or will certain levels always be locked into certain fractals?

Had to delete my last post because of forum shenanigans. For Clarity:

Scales will now have a specific assigned Fractal associated with them. So certain fractal scales will have you play through the Swamp Fractal, others will be Mai Trin, etc. Each existing fractal has been associated with a number of scales, so you’ll see all of them multiple times on your ascent to fractal scale 100.

With this change, it will be easier for groups who want to practice strategy against a certain fractal to jump right in and play. Additionally, it paces out the rate at which you experience certain Fractals, so you don’t have to fight the same encounters over and over again!

It came up on Reddit as well, which is where I saw this.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3f7fwq/more_details_regarding_fractals/

A few things to note from it, in response to a couple things here.

Each fractal scale is a pre-determined island and mistlock instability pairing. Fractal 20 will always be the same island and the same mistlock instability.

The rewards you get from an island will scale based on the island type. So an island that is typically longer (cliffside) will give more rewards then one that is typically shorter (swamp). This will discourage you from just farming swamp forever.

The new daily achievements will require you complete different fractal scales. You won’t be able to just do swamp X times to complete the achievements.

Yes, you could could farm that, theoretical, level 92 swamp to get your personal scale up to 92. However, just because it’s swamp doesn’t mean it will be easy to grind from 1 to 92. Level 92 is no joke.

This being a few things a dev posted.

Oh okay, but nowadays you can unlock all of them, and i still used to see people writing that thats why i asked xD thanks

Well more like now you can only pick 3 lines with everything eventually unlocked rather than 14/70 points to spread across 5 lines. Also during the 2nd version of traits, you could place lower level traits into higher level slots which I didn’t think was possible in the first version.

It was possible, at least from a month after launch (1st iteration) to put lower level traits in the higher slots.

But yeah, some people are still used to typing out builds/traits that way, so I still see it on occasion, even though it doesn’t make much sense with the current setup.

When you see the new build announcement, that just means a new patch has hit – or will hit soon (in the time stated). Once it does, in most places you have an hour or so before it will force you to log out and get the patch to play again. If you leave the map you’re on, it will usually log you out too.

After the patch hits, others won’t be able to join you in a map instance until you get it too – since there will be some differences in each client.

Guesting is something of a relic from before megaservers. At that time, it was helpful for things like world bosses, and some of the living story season 1 stuff. Plus, you had to use it to play with friends on different servers. It’s basically an outdated feature – the only niche use I can think of might be to try to get on a different instance of a map than one you’re on, but that wouldn’t be guaranteed or anything.

As for thief, it’s been a long time since I did much on mine, so I couldn’t say right now – just keep in mind that traits matter for the build you’re using, not just the skills/gear you have set. Plus, not sure where you’re using it – it should be fine for open world stuff, but for other things you might not always want that signet equipped. Smokescreen, for one, can be handy for projectile destruction and blinds.
