Well You know in the eyes of some group just being a thief gonna get you kicked
that’s really tell a lot about normal state of thief

Don’t pug raids, not on day 2. There are organized guild groups on ts that didn’t get the Vale Guardian kill, with a pug it’s just gonna be a bad experience all around.

And this is said by someone that has no special prejudice against pugs, I used to enjoy pugging dungeons when you could still find people on lfg.

That said, I’m not going to tell you to try other professions (I mean you could, but ultimatelt just do what you enjoy).
I’ll just point out that even if thief at the moment maybe isn’t in a great spot, this doesn’t mean that the game has become unplayable: what matters it that you enjoy thief gameplay, as long as that’s true you shouldn’t see the profession as “ruined”.

I saw a video that showed a successful kill, and in the video the rocks were thrown in what seemed like regular intervals.

In my game, I got two boulders thrown at me in the span of a few seconds: impossible to survive…
I really don’t want to sound disrespectful towards whoever worked on this encounter, but it’s such a mess that I’m having a hard time distinguishing bugs and intended mechanics of the battle :-s

I get it, this was supposed to be harder than Zhaitan, and I appreciate there being a greater depth and complexity (and difficulty) to it, but I get the feeling that this much complexity means so much more can go wrong and malfunction.

Example:
Big Canach that stays invulnerable: this wouldn't happen if there weren't moments in the fight where Good Canach and the Commander talk with each other. Again, I get it, this adds depth and complexity and on paper it's very cool: I'm just pointing out that it also adds more things that can break.

Last story mission too punishing

The first two bullet items you listed are bugs. You interact with the currents to launch up where you then pull out the glider.

This is strange, sometimes jumping worked… Thank you, I will try to interact with the currents, when I muster the will to retry yet again that story step.

Still, having an “instant failure” condition (falling during the forced flight sections) in the personal story is not something I’m a fan of…
It’s in sharp contrast with how chill all the other story missions are.

I also don’t like the wind wall that CCs you constantly but at last that can be countered…

Maxwell.7843

Are there any plans concerning the last story mission of Heart of Thorns?

At the moment, that story step is still plagued by bugs.
Also, the mechanics of the last fight are punishing to the point of being frustrating.

I was wandering if the dev team had plans in either direction, and/or if they are aware of the issues many players had/are having…

PS. A couple of the issues I experienced:

  • the big Canach that throws bombs stays invulnerable indefinitely, since the real Canach doesn’t drop his shield
  • in the Mordremoth fight, the area where the fissure appears lacks ground underneath; in other words, the fissure pops up in the air
  • the jumping currents work very poorly: you can jump on them with nothing happening

The number of hero points is fine either way, at least for me.

I’m still concerned about the champs and the need to find people, but I guess we will see how it goes.
I trust that if in the future Champions turn out to be too much, adjustments can be made.

One possible idea is adding a section on lfg dedicated to hero challenges: the open world category is too cluttered in my opinion.

Another idea is a mob that spawns as an Elite if there’s only 1 or 2 people present, but it feels like it would be more complex to realize.

Adventure availability soon to be improved

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Maxwell.7843

Maxwell.7843

We’ve seen feedback that people love our new Adventure minigames in which you can compete for rewards, experience, and leaderboard standing with your friends. People like them so much, they want to play them more! We’re going to take another pass on adventure availability so you can play them more easily. Most of them are only closed when events that could happen on top of them in an event chain would break the adventure—and we can’t do anything easily about those. But we’ve identified a few adventures that could be more accessible and aren’t as susceptible to influence from nearby events. The Bugs in the Branches, Shooting Gallery, Flying Circus, and Beetle Feast adventures will now all be made open for play more often. While major mapwide events are going on (survive through the night, the battle for Tarir, and the Trexus boss battle), adventures will remain unavailable as the map is under assault and needs your help!

I didn’t expect it, this is definitely good news!

The first time I heard about adventures, during a Points Of Interest, I was skeptical, but the adventures turned out to be a welcomed change of pace.

About an hour ago, I started up the game for the first time today (and considering the client updated, for the first time after the latest update).

After about 2 minutes of gameplay, I got disconnected.
After restarting the client, this happened again, and again.

I waited for around an hour. Now I get disconnected after 10 seconds.

I definitely haven’t changed anything on my computer… I’ve had DCs and crashes in the past (as everyone), with greater frequency since the launch of the expansion, but it is the first time something like this happens.

Edit: Now I can’t even log in…

A few months ago: We want harder open world content ArenaNet!

Decently challenging hero point challenges that require you to group in a MMO are implemented.

Forums this week: We want easier open world content!

It’s almost as if people didn’t like having their ability to unlock their elite specs and complete the map dependent on the whims of other people! Amazing, that.

Hyper Cutter makes a good point. It’s day 3 of the expac and already I can’t get people to do hero challenges together.
Writing in map chat is ignored, and no one joins on the lfg.

I like the expansion so far, and obviously a ton of work went into it. Verdant Brink is stunning, and the dialogues add a lot to the experience. But I’m more and more concerned about depending on others to unlock the basic stuff.
I don’t know how things are in the na servers, in eu a lot of the times when I write something in /say chat people don’t answer… Sometimes I think they don’t speak English, sometimes I think they just don’t care.

Question about Elit Spec collections

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Maxwell.7843

Maxwell.7843

Thanks for answering. I’m specifically referring to the Specialization Collections though.

So far, I have found out that unlocking the collection element linked to obtaining Silver in a an Adventure requires the opening of the silver chest.
Even if you have the Silver related achievement, the collection element does not unlock.

This leads me to hypothesize that, if you open the chest and the related collection is still locked, you may need to repeat the Adventure and obtain another Silver chest after the collection is unlocked.

Can anyone back this up?

Is there a meaningful choice between choosing to using the context prompt finisher or continuing to attack the downed player until they die?

If I’m not mistaken, if you stomp (=use a finisher) in PvP, when the player respawns he will be in-combat.
If you kill a player with normal damage, he will respawn out-of-combat.

In WvW, stomping can grant some points, as others have already explained.

Black Lion Trading company qs

I am new to GW2.
I am assuming that Black Lion Trading company is comparable to AH of WoW.

Welcome.

vpy.6183

Q1) My black lion trader disappeared (Norn area ..near the lake…where the kids throw snow at you)…Is he on a spawn timer ?

Black Lion Trader NPCs are of two kinds: there are the permanent ones, and the ones a player can temporarily summon through a certain consumable.

Q2) Is there any way for me to get my purchased AH gear than searching for this black lion dude ?

The things you purchase at the Gem Store are delivered via in-game mail.

The things you purchase at the Trading Post can only be given to you by a Black Lion Trader NPC.

Q3) I could see numbers in gear in Trading section. Some of the gear have very high numbers like this pistol which can be used at level 1 with values like 1306 etc. But its stat is comparable to same level blue item…Whats up with that ?

Are you sure 1306 isn’t the amount of pistols available for purchase? That is definitely not a stat.

Q4) Apart from Sigils I am assuming there is no way to improve your dmg or character..am i right ?..I have about 4000gems which i can convert to gold if needed. Which should i buy first ?…Never been a fan of skin purchasing and cosmetic goodies though

You shouldn’t really worry too much about stats before level 80.
Anyway, your stats are boosted by Armour and Weapons.
Each armor and weapon has a prefix (Berserker, Soldier, etc) that indicates which stats are boosted.
Runes can boost one or two stats, and add some effects (like a certain boon lasts more, for instance).

This was super helpful, thank you!

why people don't read team chat?

Maxwell.7843

Do teams actually end up winning while ignoring team chat?

I noticed that when I’m in a team that ignores the chat, people also tend not to call targets, run around aimlessly, and ultimately we loose.
On the other end, when there’s proper communication in team chat, I notice that people also call targets, rotate, and we normally win.

As a consequence of that, I always assumed that not communicating was something a bad/inexperienced player did. So I was surprised to find out that some people keep team chat turned off by choice and not by mistake…

In my opinion, if a person cannot handle the possibility of criticism (and thus keep team chat turned off by default), they shouldn’t really play PvP at all…

Hi, welcome.

It’s never too soon to learn that everything that gets said in a specific profession forum must be taken with a grain of salt.

I understand your disappointment, but I also think that the PU nerf was hardly a surprise.
It has been stated that balance patches will be frequent, so if this nerf turns out to be too much, I believe it will be addressed in the future.

Numbers are always gong to be in flux, and a 100% increase was a bit too much.

I think there will be builds that include Berserker, and builds that don’t. Those that do, should use the new mechanics, otherwise there’s not much of a point it picking up an elite spec.

Seriously though, I’d love to see some infiltration missions, where you as a Commander of the Pact drop inside the Dominion from an airship and do some sort of covert operations there (gather intel, establish alliaces with Tengus unhappy with their isolationism, ect).
Maybe while inside you uncover some worrisome threat. Or maybe you find out that Tengus are being invaded by Mordrem and they need help.
