This is what was said in relation to the removal:
The entire current line of finishers will be removed from Upgrades after this week, so this is your last chance to purchase them directly using gems.
I for one think it was rather clear that they would be obtainable another way from that statement. Heck there were people speculating minutes after the blog post that they would come back as BLC items. So clearly there were others that thought the same.
They left it rather…open. Basically, Anet can say they never told us they wouldn’t make them available some other way. While technically the truth, it’s can easily mislead.
It still doesn’t mean it’s acceptable to make that change the very next day after the promotion stopped. The nature of the promotion heavily implies that the items wouldn’t be a available at all for some time. They had to know that is how most people would interpret it, even with the openness of their statement.
They could have been open and clear with their plans to add them to BLCs only a week later. But they chose not to, in favor of promoting this as the “last chance” to obtain them for some time.
There was no promotion, just a PSA that the finishers wont be available for directly via gems after 1 week.
It doesn’t have to be on sale/discount to be a promotion. Making a news post about it, and adding on a “x days left” timer in the gemstore is promoting the items. They were raising awareness of the product, which is the definition of a promotion.
They never promoted it as the last chance to get them for some time, as you stated, they said they will no longer be available using a very specific purchase method (directly via gems).
I dont know what was unclear about it in the blogpost.
Correct. But anytime they have said that an item is leaving the gemstore, we expect it to be absent from any form of acquisition for a prolonged period of time, because that’s what actually happens. If someone was told those finishers were going into the chests and would be trade-able 1 day after they were removed, would they use gems to get them? To spend real money or several hundred gold to covert to gems? I know I wouldn’t have.
Shoutout to GM Smeegzzzzzz for being awesome. No refund, but best support tickets I’ve ever gotten The conversation included the note for any of these purchases within 24 hours can be refunded

TTSGamers, one of the largest community groups in Guild Wars 2, is looking for new and veteran players alike. Founded to make GW2’s more difficult content more available to the general populace, we continue to broaden our reach and yet still retain our founding values. No matter your stats, no matter your build, no matter your knowledge of how the fight or game works, we will help you through it.
We hold raids against Tequatl the Sunless (Sparkfly Fen), and Triple Trouble Wurm (Bloodtide Coast) six days a week. Two raid blocks are held on weekdays (NA and OCE time zones), as well as three raid blocks on weekends (NA, OCE, and EU). We also hold Guild Missions, Dungeon Runs, Silverwastes runs, Raffles, Contests, 24/7 buffs, a little casual PvP here and there, and any other event our member base wants to participate in across our 7 guilds. As Heart of Thorns draws ever closer, TTS will be there tackle anything ANet throws at us!
The only requirements we hold is to rep at official raids and to abide by our etiquette rules, but it is also strongly suggested that you download Teamspeak to ensure successful runs, as well as the ability to join the maps. Being the large community that we are, we do need to ensure that our members are at least semi-active in the community. To remain a part of a TTS guild, you will need to attend one official TTS event a month at minimum.
You can apply for TTS by clicking here. All it asks for is your account name (Name.####), your home server, your primary game time, and to abide by our Etiquette Rules.
Our TeamSpeak is ts.ttsgamers.com
Our forums can be found at forums.ttsgamers.com
We also have Facebook and Twitter accounts that you can like and follow.
With ANet’s promise of “challenging group content” coming with Heart of Thorns, you need TTS, and we need you!
Condolences from TTS. Our best wishes upon his family, and your family.
Have you tried an extractor?
Expensive, I know, but so is the item you stand to lose.
Mentioned in the OP. Very convenient for Anet that the only resolution to this issue is either sacrifice a lot more gold, or spend real money when there is no way to tell currently.
Truly infuriating at this point. Another week of Guild Missions, gone. Our numbers will dwindle further and further the longer we do not have an update. Just something other than “being worked on”. Like, what is the delay for, issues pinpointing the problem and fixing it.
No amount of casual guild chatter is going to keep the guild alive without events.
Without repeating what UnawarePolarBear said, that is ultimately better than I could express, I’ll leave this:
Ever since day one of TTS, people have had the misconception of how “elitist” we are. We welcome everyone so long as you listen and follow the etiquette guidelines. Is there anything in the etiquette section that is unreasonable in any way? No. We only ask for rep during a raid (only need to be there once a month to stay active) v.s. the numerous guilds across all content that demand 100% rep (I understand this stance, just showing how lenient we are).
I joined TTS and was there for the first Teq kill by them, and eventually became a leader for the same reasons: I want to be a part of something that brings this kind of content to all. Where many failed, we worked. That is not to say on the NA side you only have a couple options at most for fighting Wurm and Teq. I have seen personal guilds fight and win. It is a little tougher due to smaller numbers, but entirely possible.
The main point I’m trying to make is there are options. It just requires a search. I would hope that search leaves you with TTS, but if not that’s perfectly fine. Just don’t be misguided that we have “monopolized” content.
The info about them having had some private TS sessions with a dev outside official hours, coupled with the rumor that they are asking him to kick people who are afk out of sparkfly fen did leave a bad impression on me and I just can’t shake it off (I know that it might’ve been an isolated case, but it left a permanent stigma on my mind, sorry).
As said, member since day 1. I have never heard about this in my entire time in TTS. Can only assume it was said by someone with huge grievances against us. We have a ton of haters (Why, I still will never understand. See above.).
Is it like the scarf and spectacles where if you want the skin across different armor classes, you would need to get one of each class as well?
Honestly, there is no advantage to being in a TTS guild. TTS members don’t even get priority when doing teq/wurm.
Not true at all. Members get preference and are notified of maps open first and foremost before non-members. Not so much for Teq, but let’s face it, if you arrive early enough you are almost assured to get a Teq kill on a random map. Not if you show up 5 min before.
There was some screenshots posted a couple months back with a dev confirming that it was being worked on.
Can you find that link? Would love to see Polymock again
^ It’s sad that this is the hardest part of the event.
Best suggestion is to utilize one’s teamspeak. Makes coordination a lot easier and able to flood others hopefully into the map.
If teamspeak isn’t available, I’ve seen it done just through map and say chat as well. We just got 6 commanders to stand at each gate and instructed to not fund heal-o-tron until as many people as possible were split among the commanders. Will be tougher of course if people go off and do their own thing, but just the presence of the 6 commanders at set locations I found pushes more people to listen to instruction.
If you’re using it for WvW, almost any condition build is pretty solid with Rabid gear. If you have intentions of using it for PvE, then you have a conundrum.
Don’t really have a WvW character/build at the moment so might be a good idea. In terms of PvE, the only real time I see using the condi build would possibly be Teq defense (plus mesmer feedback on fingers), or condi teams on Triple Trouble Wurm.
Personally don’t have a problem with the playstyle either tbh. Was using condi’s for my mesmer’s leveling.
Haven’t put much use into the Mesmer either so it’s a chance to use him more now.
So in terms of weapon choice, I suppose staff?
I got an ascended weapon chest the other day with Condi/Precision/Toughness stats.
I keep looking around for builds based on this but can’t really find anything. Was looking more towards giving it to my mesmer.
Are there any suggestions on builds? Or even if I should look at a different profession instead of mesmer?
So? All that means is that Anet probably has the entire GW2 story planned out well in advance.
All I was saying is this is not “BREAKING NEWS! JUST IN! There’s a fort over there and an alliance!” We’ve known about it for a long time and it can serve as a way to continue the story, even if the season’s story was different than what it was. They could have made the story entirely different and still have a way to connect it to that fort. It is a very open ended detail that is accompanied by many others like it. They could have also sent the sister to one of the many other hooks as well and easily make a connection to it (Ex: send her to the Desert Gate next to Ebonhawke to talk to the guards there and that’s all that’s said. Connection: Scarlet’s attack killed a lot people. Need more allies so let’s check out Elona. Sort of fits so boom, concept of Season 2; deals with the desert, Elona, and Kralkatorrik. Very, VERY rough idea off the top of my head though so don’t treat as what I think will happen).
Yes it is true that it fits. It could also fit other hooks as well though.
They may have an idea and the core concept planned, but I HIGHLY doubt they have literally everything situated that long in advance. We’re talking pre launch in 2012. These details like the Desert Gate are left open ended for a reason. The writers are able to make a story however they want and then somehow connect it to these points whenever they’re ready to move on to that part of the world of Tyria.
The fact that the stories match and that the White Mantle are mentioned means that Anet will most likely build on what they have unlike Season 1.
See above. And I hope to see the White Mantle. Building on old lore is really needed.
I say again.
That being said, based on conversations from the sister, we could easily see how this could be used for the next season, yes. Breaking news though? No.
Not much of a preview. Been there since launch right? At the very least a long time, even before Scarlet. Also there are tons of points across the game that could preview future content like this does, and technically could mean they are open possibilities for season 2 as well.
That being said, based on conversations from the sister, we could easily see how this could be used for the next season, yes. Breaking news though? No.
Might be on a lower populated server. But seriously you’re looking in places people aren’t at right now. As said, look at Vigil Keep.
The game is definitely not dead.
I visited the Guild Weaponsmith in WvW and noticed a tab that said “Disabled (Future)”. Under the tab the currency changes to a coin that looks like the Mystic Coin but is called “Guild Unlock: Having this item unlocks guild testing”.
Any ideas what this is about?
It really bummed me out when they were removed from the BLC. I don’t care if it’s a really rare drop, the chance of possibly getting it was good enough for me.
I won’t ever pay that many gems for the contract.
- Kiel was warned of the attack prior to it happening and she had some time to prepare. I don’t recall seeing her in Lion’s Arch nor do I see signs of her trying to evacuate refugees ahead of time or set up defences. During the attack Lion’s Arch looks like it’s going about a normal day. What exactly did Kiel do with the forewarning?
She was in Crow’s Nest Tavern before the attack and mentioned she was going to try and make LA not completely unprepared and that more would could have been done with more Council members backing. Other than that, no further details on how she was preparing.
I’m assembling a group picture of all my characters together. The problem I’m facing is finding a location to shoot the pics for each one.
Should I use different locations for each one based on their armor color (different types of lighting in different areas), or stick to one location to have the same lighting element across all, and if that’s the case, which location would have the best even lighting?
Needing advice. We do general map chat shout outs talking about what the guild is about, kind of people we look for, ambitions (wanting to be big enough for Teq), etc. Yet still can’t seem to get any attention towards our group. Around 25 actually in the guild, 4-5 that actually ever rep though.
Mentioning some form of activity (naked run example haha) is a good idea and I think will help us, but actually talking about what we’re about needs to be somewhere too I would think. And seeing how what we’re doing doesn’t seem to work, how else should we do this?
There’s no doubt WvW needs more attention given to it. Pushing people into content they would rather not be involved with isn’t the way though. And don’t say “just ignore it”. This update could involve important information Story wise that PvE’ers I would assume would not want to ignore. And the possibility of being denied to experience this because of being pushed into content they don’t want to do/can’t do isn’t right.
The same goes for WvW players being forced to do content they don’t like to get the gear they need for WvW. Not right either. That said though, once the gear is obtained, they just head back to WvW. They don’t miss out on anything they wanted to do (besides more needed attention and updates in general as said).
If people end up actually missing content they would want to witness because of being put into an element of the game they don’t want to be a part of, where other players are intentionally waiting to try and prevent them from experiencing it (as other posters have obviously made clear), it will fuel so much hostility towards the community, the game, and Anet.
I’m wanting to make it for my Warrior for RP reasons, but haven’t used a shield in ages since #5 doesn’t seem to help much in PvE. Torn if I should still go for it or just get a different one
Had my hopes so high…
Aren’t 3 of those X’s the Order HQ’s?
Curious to see if this is what will happen, how it will play out in terms of LA being the central hub for the game.
If this actually turns into something epic, or turns into a huge pointless mess, either way…
Relogging helped. A few of the potions showed up but others did not though. Tried moving them around in the slots and relogged again. Still didn’t show up.
Not a total loss at least.
Storage Log noted the potions that showed up as being deposited when I logged on. It did not note the ones that are still missing.
I was in Lion’s Arch and depositing various Potions into the Guild Bank when immediately after putting them in, they disappeared. They didn’t show at all in the bank, just gone. They are not in my inventory either. I tried putting more in different slots and same result occurred.
Another guild member looked to see if they were in there and I just couldn’t see it, he didn’t see them either.
Bloody Merc Corp is looking for new members.
We are a new, casual guild on Borlis Pass with interests in all content of the game. We have a website still under development found here: http://bloodymerccorp.enjin.com
We have ambitions, in time, to do Guild Missions, Tequatl Kills, dungeon runs, and to have a WvW presence, plus whatever else we honestly feel like. All it takes is the numbers and influence.
Requirements: be on the Borlis Pass Server or to be able to guest frequently to BP. Must also be generally friendly and helpful to other guild members. Other than this, all are welcome.
If interested in helping raise this guild to something great, feel free to message me, MoS.5970, or Bloody Night Jack.2546
We look forward to hearing from you.
Only saw a person comment on the trapped Hylek behind the barrier, but there’s also trapped humans. After carefully inching forward because the barrier keeps bouncing you back, talking to them says this:
Would like an invite too
One of the greatest posts on the forums
Furthermore, they are called “Lost Spirit”s so I doubt they come from the Hall of Heroes, whom I doubt would even leave (if they could) the Hall of Heroes. Lost Spirit/Soul is usually a term used in the series to denote someone who died but didn’t move on due to an unsettled conflict or the like.
Would this be a connection? I know they spawned after “the Darknesses” was defeated meaning they were lost due to the HoH being overrun. I’m not saying the Darkness is back or anything, I just noticed that there were Lost Spirits/Souls in the HoH at a given point, even if for just congratulatory reasons and obviously no longer being “lost”.
BTW, where is this article about the sailors? Just curious.
It originally came from The Movement of the World:
“Sporadic sailors have washed ashore on the southern coast of the Maguuma jungles, but that is the only evidence that Cantha even exists past the cataclysmic event that cut it off from Tyria.”
End of first paragraph under “Nature and physiology”:
“… Elder Dragons appear to be hostile to each other, as their minions will fight another dragon’s minions just as they would fight any living creature.”
