adapt or get killed. also thief is still very viable for most if not all parts of the game, be it power or condition dd, wvw roamer or as +1 in spvp
also why would you eat a whole power reaper rotation into your face? if you do so you deserve to die. there are near to no as strong telegraphed attacks as in reapershroud

Because it just can naturally sometimes happen in the course of a battle maybe?
We play agaisnt other players you know and not against some braindead predictable NPC A.I. you can already foreseee what they do ages ago, before they actualyl do somethign, due to NPCs attacking also like 1/3rd as fast as a real player does constantly.
Would my Thieves Guild only attack players half as fiercely and fast, like I do, then would everyone and their mum scream immediately here in the forums, how overpowered this skill is, but no, they have a massive delay in time in their auto attacks and by far use not so actively their initiative skills, like a real player could do and thats in the end, what balances this skill out – on the other side of the coin it is against massive condi/cc spam underpowered an they are no great help for you as they deal too less DPS to put a halfway decent chronomancer/reaper under any pressure, unless they are in a real low health state and you can successfully surprise youe foe with them being summon in an inconvinient moment for them.

Reaper can just way too long protect permanently their health through their shrouds.
Seen already lots of them, which were practically able to sustain their shrouds like felt 90% of the whole time, having always enough shroud time there to be protected from any of my burst attacks. This needs to be balanced through lettign them lose the shroud faster and building it up should become slower, so that the shroud gets more used in special situations and can’t be kept up basically mostly permanently in melee combat. They shoudl also like Warrior lose adrenaline lose the shroud out of combat, so that they start at 0 like Warriors do at a start of combat.
—-

You know, real players can react to what I do and can act also accordingly to force me eating their full rotation? A real shocker right? I surely don’t do this with any intention, or because I do like to eat their rotations, because it makes so much fun to lie dead on the ground…

Adaption would mean going into ranged combat, but with ranged combat (Shortbow) you deal significantly lesser damage, than with D/D or S/P
The problem is all this CC and Condition Spam against which you stand no chance when it comes together both at the same time.

However, the true point here was, which I wanted to point on is, how unbalanced this game is, when it comes down to defensive play styles, because the whole game practically doesn’t support defensive playstyles, its all practically play offensive or GTFO and thats somethign that disturbs me personally, not the fact that I did lose to some Chronomancer/Reaper players just because they were by game design able to easily outplay me at these moments and that Anet hasn’t changed anything on this bad situation in the game for over 2 years now!!

you are playing a thief and complain about being forced to eat dmg skills? ever tried a class that cant chain 7 or more dodges + a stunbreak block on 12s cd + has a stunbreak teleportcondiclear. if you get hit by a necromancers shroudskills as a thief its only your own fault

I am European and I tested it for like 1.5 hours. No problems, only 5.5 hours of sleep though

I had a blast to finally try the Scourge in PvE environment, was a lot of fun!

Was it just me or did the scourge seem awfully squishy in PVE? Maybe it was just my build but I am now rethinking rolling one in 3 weeks.

Friday now so hopefully you Europeans can get some extra sleep today!

played around a bit with a tb scourge never went below 20k life only the dmg department seemed a bit lacking, guess because the mobs had no boons to corrupt

The BEST YET!

Mark my words q quer’s this season is going to be fast paced and action packed the changes anet made were absolutely excellent slight tweaks to classes that needed them but nothing to butcher them! ele q quers I ask one favor from you and that’s to get gud! you can still be a dedicated healer surprise there are other stats that have equivalent healing power as clerics! better yet, instead of making a coffee coming back and using some skills your going to have to be engaged and actually (get this) dodging ! no more facetanking makes bads sad

get rdy for some fast paced pvp folks, Anet did a great job with this patch, you shall see as the meta settles, and for those whom don’t, welp sorry to say you probably never were fully engaged in pvp and relied completely on your builds to carry you sad panda

TLDR: Enjoy the upcoming fast paced, skillful, engaging gameplay to come!

oh and unrelated for that guy whom wont log in, could you try not logging into the forums too? that’d be pretty swell!

If your fast paced and action packed extremely skillful season means teams ful of condition warrs/necros/mesmers spreading cancer all over the mists, i think you’r right.

Removing Amulets will NOT Solve the Problem [Merged]

I think the Cleric Amulet needed to go, they got rid of Soldier, Soldier made you yourself sustainable but with Cleric people could heal 5 door breakers faster than a trebuchet could damage them. Usually hitting them twice with it is enough, a healer could pretty much negate the trebuchet damage. Magi, well it has vitality instead of toughness and precision instead of power. I can imagine a lot of healers will pay the gold and unlock it. Would like to see it go as well as it has the same healing power as Cleric so could be used to keep enemy NPCs alive pretty much indefinitely. Either that or bring back cleric but nerf the Tempest and Druid healing abilities beyond recognition. Nothing wrong with making them able to heal so that door breakers can survive an extra hit or so from the treb but not much more than that.

If this is about doorbreakers why dont make trebs 1shot them ( or giving them an unremoveable stack – they die at 2 stacks) instead of limiting build variety and purging eles from spvp?

The point is you dont make that much GOLD with Tarir, you make a lot of rares which you will most likely salvage into ectos.
Sell that ectos and you take gold out of the game instead of pumping new gold in (TP fees).
So it might even be working as intended.
It clearly has nothing to do with the rising gold to gem prices.

There will always be some event/map/whatever which yields the most rewards, nerf tarir to the ground and people will farm whatever else gives them the next most rewards.

Ridiculous unfair damage difference

Raithwall.8201

Guys stop it.

It is not about how much damage I take with a glassy build.
It is not about how good or bad we both are.
It is not about a l2p issue.
It is not about which builds we play or should play.

It is about both running very offensive builds and him doing 4x times more damage in less hits than me, both using highest damage skills available for each class.
It is about he can kill me with 3 hits and I need to land 12-15 hits to do the same.
It is about the burst disparity between professions is at 300-400%

mesmer probably has the highest burst or at least one of the highest bursts ingame. Burst not sustained dmg ofc. But you have to setup your spikes accordingly.
So it IS a l2p issue

I understand your view on having the worth of items devalued after you purchase something.

Consider this:

Anyone who may have purchased the Infinite Continue Coin, possibly with cash, to work towards Tribulation items only to shortly thereafter

  • Have an exploit approved that makes the cheaper option to buy Trib runs with gold while simultaneously trivializing the rewarding nature of having those items.

Luckily for some there’s probably some who still value the Infinite Continue Coin that enjoy Tribulation.

For the rest – RIP.

happened and I wasnt mad for a second, i still have the coin and it makes tribulation so much more enjoyable, heck i can do even run tribulation runs sell them and get the gold for the coin back

Why is his complaint being trivialized? This is ridiculous, he has a point. Agree, or disagree, don’t just tell him “oh think of it another way.” The fact is he spent money on something that he could have gotten later for much less money. Kinda how I feel about heart of thorns… but I digress.

I personally don’t agree with him, but I won’t trivialize his argument.

The same argument can be made towards power/ toughness. If you can block a melee attack whats the point of having toughness?

EDIT: the weakness condi has to be looked at as well

as you say in your edit, in contrary condition damage, power damage doesnt have a ramp up time, it hits you and you are dead or you survive.
you can react to condition damage with cleansing.
blocking is just like another dodged skill

think it any further…
remove the rewards for killing more than 1 octovine and nothing changes… real leechers will just stay at east do 1 burn and afk.
this whole thread just seems like oh im jelly some1 gets more loot for doing more than staying at 1 line and after the octovine is at 5% life go afk/bore around since everyone is there

most guys who rotate want to optimize rewards – and rewards are optimized if you tag all the events AND then succeed the meta
for my part i do the first burn at east – leave to south then and clear the breacher if it isnt dead+kill the mobs, then do 2-3phases at south then go west 1-2 burns and try to get north when everyone is ready for the final burst.
im quite sure that is way more effective and useful for the event than just staying at 1 of the octovines.

Also Anet may have thought something when they didnt block the ways from octovine to octovine during the event.

hard to blame some1 for afking a lost match
unlike last season there are no rewards for trying, that paired with this matchmaking algorythm which only seems to promote uneven fights makes pvp 100% unenjoyable if you soloq and dont have a really high mmr (so you mostly get paired with the winning team)
i loved the last seasons system which gave you pips even for losing if you fought much better enemy setups. you could learn something there and be rewarded for actually trying to improve.
now its just like: oh my teammates are potatoes, can afk as well
or vice versa: oh, my team is much better – stomps enemy 500 – <100

you take an ele with staff. which has one of the worst auto attacks (1200 RANGED). then you stand in front of a revenant. which is using a sword. which is one of if not the best autoattack (MELEE). then theres tons of passives on the revenant which reduce your damage so make it a tanky thing (heavy armor+toughness from amulet+traits like rite of the great dwarf/lifeleech/tons of damage modifiers)
You are nearly ful glass with your marauder amulet….
and you expect a different outcome?
Like really?
btw a revenant in shiro stance will explode on the sight of conditions and if he brings mallyx he is more than vulnerable to cc after the switch. Revenants may be too strong right now but your video proofs nothing of relevance.

Tattered bat wing price

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Raithwall.8201

Raithwall.8201

much easier answer…
there are fewer permanent tonics ingame than batwings(*4)
so there is no point at all in those batwings.
they just are utterly useless
there are around 70ish tonics on the tp while there are around 2200 tattered batwings
low demand(due to the high prices for the tonic, people dont wanna craft nightfury) + high supply of batwings which are not needed = low price

Legendary precursor journey is a joke....[Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Raithwall.8201

Raithwall.8201

The reason why they are expensive and time consuming is because they GUARANTEE you get a precursor. You pay extra (in both time and gold) for this guarantee in order to avoid having to get the precursor using ordinary methods (Mystic forge/drops).

Still don’t understand why people are complaining about precursor crafting, obviously it has to be challenging/expensive in order to maintain (or not affect at all) the prices of tp precursors.

you can just buy the precursor off the tp and have your “guaranteed” precursor.
no need 2 spend more money and time on a “legendary journey”

Legendary precursor journey is a joke....[Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Raithwall.8201

Raithwall.8201

The Legendary precursor journey should remove the much RNG involved with the Mystic Forge. It should not devalue the precursor, so everything is fine with it. If you could do 3 simple tasks and pay 2 Gold the Legendary would be worth nothing, nobody would want one and every player who has put effort in getting one would be kittened off.

yea, but thats not what the op is complaining about.
the op states that even the first step of the precursor collection costs more gold than the actual precursor (with instant buy)
dont even count in the time you need for the collection.
thats the problem.
the collections may be interesting for the high price precursors like the greatswords/sword/staff/dagger.
but the cheap ones are just ridiculously overprized

What utility will each class bring to raids?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Raithwall.8201

Raithwall.8201

Thieves bring two things to raids.

1) Smoke Fields/Stealth

2)Active mitigation

Now really depending on how “tanking” ends up being in GW2 Daredevil has the potential to be the best tank class in the game through sheer amount of evades and blocks. From what we saw of Vale Guardian during beta that specific fight doesn’t necessitate tanks having high survivability but we might see later bosses that do heavy damage to tanks and have multiple tank killer abilities requiring something like Daredevil/Guard/Rev/Scrapper as a tank.

thiefs dont make good tanks at least for the boss we were shown. evade tanking means you are forced to move around which lowers overall dps (not standing in dmg/combo fields/melees not hitting all their skills)
this against an enrage timer —> no evasion tanking

GG Anet on completly being sadist and promoting oneshotting people

when will there ever be an ingame report option to report such completly overpowered stuff :-(

i crit around 7k max with vault vs other glass people. not sure how you are getting hits for 13k. also why is there no evades in your combat log, is this a joke lol?

unfortunately it was not possible to evade it cause of instant downstate
and no that was not in WvW it was in sPvP running middle after taking Tranquility
like I wrote I am running marauder amulet so no extra toughness sure
maybe the thief had might stacks but still the dmg is unreal no idea what anet is thinking

but to get back on topic
there still should be the old roles for thief
fast decapping of empty points
and turning the tide via dealing high burst dmg in group fights

fighting with no armor equipped and/or running ful dmg stats and having vulnerability +some thief who got a lot of might stacked (revenant buddy maybe)
then dont dodge/just walk out of it/invuln not 1 but 2 very highlited and relatively slow skills (which will cost the thief every almost any initiative he has) is surely some issue with thief damages
xD

also i have never seen a thief dealing this much dmg to me or anyone in my team in over 1k games
