What is the purpose of precursor collections?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

for some people journey is more important than the goal
for others chasing carrots is the way of life
and then there are those who would build a snowman, just to incinerate it moments later with flamethrower of doom
rather ask yourself, what is the meaning of life?
…colored box around specialty bag slots…
your suggestion collides with existing colored slot borders for item rarity

spoiler alert – its 3 second stun – elite in shiro stance
i think you got this a bit backwards
in first game, matchmaking system was expecting your team to lose badly. but you won. hence the reward of extra pips
in second game, matchmaking system expected enemy team to lose, and it did. fact that you crushed them have no extra benefit
or to rephrase. game score only have positive/negative effects for the team that lost. meanwhile winning team’s pips are only affected by what matchmaking predicted before the match started
P.S. what kittenes me off occasionally is getting multiple games in a row where i get 2 pips for wins and +1 pips for loses (with 300 or 400 pts). meaning matchmaking was placing me in games with expectation to screw me over. and likewise if my side gets obliterated 500 to (299 or less) for -1 pip then i cannot know if i was expected to lose or game was ‘fair’ (by ‘fair’ i mean that mm decided that both sides got somewhat same chance of winning)
What do you mean skills don’t scale that well? That makes no sense.
Non-crit damage is directly proportional to power.
…
well, that statement is only true if you add base stats. and OP is talking just about ‘bonus’ stats from amulet, that ‘bonus’ power from amulet is what does not scale too well
as we all know from wikki:
Damage = (Weapon strength * Power * Skill coefficient) / Armor
lets say average weapon dmg is X, skill coef Y, target with same armor Z
then its X(1000+1200)Y/Z for soldier/berserker and X(1000+560)Y/Z for celestial
making it 2200 vs 1560 raw power damage difference.
so even tho ‘bonus’ power increased more than twice (from 560 to 1200), raw power damage increased only by (2200/1560)*100%-100%= 41%
tl;dr;
miscommunication about power gained from amulet vs total power from base stats and amulet.
only latter directly scales well.
power on amulet don’t scale well
body – ascended light
shoulders – heritage (ahaha good luck with that one)
legs – trickster (gemshop, not on sale atm)
boots – Caudecus’s Manor (dungenzor)
gloves – tribal (old spvp rewards, not available anymore? )
head – could be one of the necromancers starting ‘eyes’

no aiding
i’d stay mid, and ask others, to group up and focus only one side
because from my experience: i would d be either too late, or some mobile enemy would notice me leaving mid and outrun me to decap
some soloqs just don’t work out due not so experienced greedy teammates wanting all 3 points for no reason
aren’t teh 1-15 area starting waypoints unlocked from the start? could run from queensdale to divinity’s reach. if not then well.. a bit more running on foot :p
when i install the game it doenst let me choose a place to install it.. do i have to take each file manually and put it into a folder? which files do i know belong to the gw2 game? thanks for replying
but you get to choose where to download installer (unless your browser is configured to save stuff somewhere by default without asking you)
and then installer downloads all gamefiles to same directory
as for window temp dir… it shouldn’t have stuff dissapearing, unless you ran disk cleanup or some other software that removes temporary files
P.S. if you don’t know where installer is downloaded, you can find it through your browsers download window, by rightclicking and choosing to open containing folder – afaik should work for any modern browser

sound a lot like being in combat and out of combat.
out of combat your speed is higher
also you can buy hero points for stuff you get from wvw dailies – ‘unlocks’ for random hero challenges
you buy the whole pack but you can use what armor piece you like afterwards
you are wrong. it is outfit, not armor skin
yes
Dark Reverie – comfy for portals, annoying to do because its long, and starts at the end of other JP (Morgan’s Leap)
Did this still works this way? http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractals_of_the_Mists
My personal lev is 38.
if you carefully read wiki you linked, you would notice this important line:
For each player, rewards are based on the minimum between the selected Fractal Difficulty Scale and the player’s Personal Reward Level
combine that with Daily Chest Rewards tiers and you will finally understand how it works
one time per day reward in dungeons means that if you miss the good groups you stuck with bad ones !
I find this the most offensive and laughable part of this post.
“I missed the good group so now I’m stuck with the bad ones.”
There are no bad groups when it comes to dungeons. The only poor groups I have ever been in, have been when no one was willing to speak to each other and teach/learn a dungeon path.
I am constantly in groups with players who have between 300-1000 Achievement Points, who have obviously never run the dungeon path they are on before. Instead of instantly quitting, leaving the party and making the:
“LF3m Zerk 80 War/Mes/Guard”
Instead I normally post up in LFG:
“LF3m – All welcome”
the irony is, that ‘zerk’ lfg post are often filled with leachers
meanwhile “all welcome” groups have high chance of very experienced players joining who could solo the content
i think, that would make you handicapped in pvp
some skills shoot/move to where your cursor is pointing. therefor player who don’t have his cursor locked in the middle of the screen will have more control of his character
edit: btw this idea is not new, google for gw2 combat mode. topic used to be popular long time ago
i don’t see any problems with dailies – unless you hate pvp and eotm karma train
where did you get the idea that mf should affect salvaging?
as for open world/dungeon loots, i don’t feel much difference between before and after the patch. still get rares, and feel no difference in green/blue drops.. not that i ever counted them
do you accept challenges?
EDIT: VaAnSs.1567 is on EU
(edited by Saulius.8430)
i recommend taking math class
it may or may not help you later in life, with finances and stuff
while you are at it get asuran engineer – fits in lore purrfectly
@pvp – guardians are just good for point defence, if they are lucky… while good engineers leave me scarred with nightmares for days
@wvw – both are descent – roles may differ
@pve – both are descent – experience may vary based on guild/pug group, player skill and build
(edited by Saulius.8430)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cultural_weapon
asura and sulvari always shared same cultural t1 and t2 weapon skins. there have been threads complaining about it year ago, nothing changed
EDIT: just some slowpokes finally noticed it because of wardrobe
EDT2: also Verdant(T1) and Glyphic(T2) weapons can be found as loot in the Maguuma Jungle and CoE, so they not worth buying for karma
EDIT3: or you can just buy them off TP:

have both back books, and they unlocked seperately
yeah it should have reward (watched some walkthrough video on youtube)
is your personal story progression stuck now?
then you should make a support ticket, if you haven’t yet
you get personal story rewards while inside instances. if there was no reward shown and you had to click ‘leave instance’, then the reward is in the next other personal story instance. some lower level personal story quests follow pattern – go to some instance do something, return to town instance – get reward
ascended now stays account bound after equiping (or so the patch note says), so you can try it out anyway
but as Danikat wrote, it might be not worth it due to stats incompatible with your build
my 3x 20% might duration runes(hoelbrak/strength/fire) got ruined
but strength runes now got 45% duration, and sweet damage bonus
so i got that going for me which is nice
math
well servers still matter as NA cannot play with EU
Bump
I still have irritations with this mechanic each and every day.
The tooltip says it all: “Your character will move forward automatically without holding the forward key”It sais nothing about a toggle, which it is at this moment.
Give me at least one good reason for ANYONE on this planet to use “R” to stop moving!
autorun MODE ON/OFF switch is very intuitive
i get your point that its uncomfortable for you, and you want separate bindings for ON and OFF – that would be nice QoL improvement – it’s sad that its expressed as rant instead of as constructive suggestion
i personally use autorun only for running long distances (both for wvw and openworld), because in combat strafing is a must. as for chopping trees and falling, why would you click ‘R’ again, if you KNOW you are already in autorun mode
its against the rules. but yet to hear anyone getting punished for opening bags with ‘smart’ mouses. if you know what i mean
humpback whale
Mini Velociraptor Vulture Raptor
But the amount of time, energy, and gold one potentially has to invest in getting just a chance at a precursor
i find this part disturbing
invest in getting chance
invest into chance
what does that even mean?
is it like trying to get ferrari , by blowing out all the hard earned money in kazino?
no no, to get ferrari you save, build up passive income, and get it LATER
my thoughts are that your group, or at least one player in your group whom boss wanted to attack, was out of leashing range
in the first place – why did you pull them, instead of fighting them where they spawned? as far as i remember there is no point to los them
you cannot get 80lvl items directly from drops in low level areas. you get them from champ bags, which are different story. also you get only tier1 materials from drops there
Thats wrong .. mobs drop either loot in your level range, or on mob level. So in Queensdale you may get 1-15 items or 70-80 or whatever with a level 80 character.
not sure if you guys are trolling or what. if you ever check your drops, you never get t5 material like Vial of Potent Blood or Vial of Powerful Blood in 1-15 zones, you get only Vial of Weak Blood on lv80 character.
as for item levels, yes you said " mobs drop either loot in your level range, or on mob level". but you will get 78lvl items max, with 80lvl toon in 1-15 zone. (with exception of champ bags)
Strange, I got my Dusk off a Level 6 Raptor Hatchling in Metrica. I think you must be mistaken. =)
forum troll
you cannot get 80lvl items directly from drops in low level areas. you get them from champ bags, which are different story. also you get only tier1 materials from drops there
therefore i cannot comprehend what do you mean by “high level loot”. it’s not
from my point of view – “high level lootz” are tier5-6 mats, lodestones, cores and named exotics. can you get them from normal mobs in starter areas? no
as for champ bags, yes you can get those loots from them, but low level champs doesn’t always drop exotic bags as opposed to high level champs who always do
1) repetitive action recognition and analysis.
automation programming based on visual pattern recognition
2) depends on pattern complexity. observation and programming 20+ hours for first time, and usually less than a day to re-implement same mechanism for similar pattern
3) no additional hardware is used, tho a lot additional software is involved
4) repetition over years of programming and video games, robotics, artificial intelligence
5) B
take a day off
OP would probably laugh at his year old post if he/she reads it now, as that Ascalon City Ruins skill point is slaughter-fest for any decent player
as for orr maps, it is usually – “ninja teh skillpoint while champ is not watching”. as soloing them there can be tedious
… nothing is wrong. Then the instance owners says: “I hate NPCs” because Hodgins bugs up and won’t open the door for the 2nd scepter in P1. I then make a joke and say “Ever feel like the people you work with are NPCs?” He kicks me out of the party
so something goes wrong, some players in party get frustrated over it. then you crack a joke which gets taken personally. they get offended and kick you
did they overreact? yes
was your joke innocent? no
could you expect that reaction? yes
in my opinion you are both responsible. the other person for verbal abuse, and you for pushing him/her over the edge
may i crack some joke too?
“mommy, that boy punched me in the face, after i pushed him off the swing” is how i see some rants on these forums
(edited by Saulius.8430)
to unequip everything. and equip again one by one. eventualy you will notice that you really have item with no stats on it
still same exp. tho it never was 1 level. 30% for story and 70% for exp
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Experience
players can still kick anyone in the group
dungeon exping is viable if you play it with main toon, and swap to alt at the end. and/or play it with friends

But wow — where are management’s priorities?
don’t know how it is where you work. but where i work and have worked, management priorities are always on the money side. even at cost of delayed critical system stopping errors
so, there is no reason to expect fix for something that is just ‘annoying’
be more specific
as current LS can be considered “quest” for achievements too
Quests can only be completed once by a player
…
I at least feels that zones in this game are incredibly empty because of this
and how exactly one time thing will liven up empty zones?
one thing for sure. one time only – lore heavy story quests, won’t cater to me
as seen in the screenshot, your second bag is “invisible bag”. it’s purpose is to protect items from being accidentally deposited and sold. working as intended
different bag types can be used to organize your inventory. i’d recommend to keep invisible bags in the latest bag-slots, so that their inventory-slots are at the “bottom”
(edited by Saulius.8430)
did you buy them for karma or honor badges? those cannot be salvaged
you can delete them. or stuff (4x) into mystic forge to get new item that can be sold or salvaged
cave troll is good boss.
Yeah, fear spam is the best thing to have come to this game.
it does you no harm, unless you fall somewhere. on the flip side, you can use stun breaker or cleanse from allies that are out of fear range
that fear is only every 20 seconds or so, hardly a spam… that’s same as traited shake it off on warrior, which removes fear from nearby allies too
champ trains for karma?
did you mean wvw friday player vs door trains for karma?
relics for obsidian shards is a waste imo. unless you really have no other use for them
also if you do fractals -10 levels your personal, you get extra karma: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractal_Karma_Reward_Table
