From Areanet you receive 800 gems for $10.00, not 600.
To level any of the crafting skills you should only be doing the new discoveries.
The only time you should craft something you already have on your list is:
1. There is nothing left to discover.
2. You actually found an item you can get exp with and make a profit. (very unlikely)
3. The known item is extremely cheap compared to the cost of a new discovery even when you consider the bonus exp you get for a new discovery.
4. You need the sub-component to make a new discovered final product. (Cooking)
Why would you want to convert Karma to Gold anyways? Karma is much, much harder to acquire and you need over 750k Karma (sometimes over 1 Million) to make a Legendary for your character if you do everything from start to finish.
You could create an alt character and get some easy skill points again. You do not have to use all the skill points on the same character to make your legendary. You can use skill points to make some of the pieces on other characters and transfer them with the shared bank.
All the crafts are inexpensive and about the same price to level if you get your character to level 80 first. Level 80 drops enough money to easily do any craft.
If you do not count your time running around doing hearts for the karma vendors cooking has to be the cheapest for about 1 gold. Jewels are a bit of a pain, but still very easily completed for less then 5g. As long as you are crafting for the highest level discoveries you can it is not going to break your bank at level 80.
Karma Items are not supposed to be able to be converted to gold, silver, copper coins. They fixed this bug a while back and banned a bunch of people who did this in mass quantities.
There is no way you are going to get it for free.
Everything has a higher starting price when it is new and it usually goes down over time. Most mmo’s that release extra expansions that you pay seperatly for usually bundle them together with the original game and charge the same price as the original game by itself after being out for a little bit. This is just how it works.
You do not however need to buy a new copy of the game for $60 just to get the upgrade. If you really wish to have the upgrade you can buy it for 2000 gems in the Gem Store. You can buy the $25 in gems or trade your in game gold for gems.
The infraction you received stated that you needed to email forums@arena.net to appeal it. Right in the infraction PM.
Putting in a support ticket only took away the support from the people who need it for the game.
I did submit the ticket to forums@arena.net for the appeal. They moved it to support.
Since it may have been moved to support on accident I sent a copy of the entire help ticket back to forums@arena.net and let the know it was an appeal issue.
(edited by Slark.1263)
On November 2 my account received a post infraction. I sent in a help ticket (121121-000175) to appeal this infraction because I do not understand what part of my post was in violation.
Since then I have been contacted by 4 different representatives.
The First one asked for my Account Name (I understand this is important).
The Second one asked for my Account Name again, plus my Serial Number for some odd reason.
The Third person said everything with my account was working correctly and to submit a screen shot of the Error. ( This is an appeal, not an Error )
The Fourth person told me I need to Clear my Internet Browser Cache (How would this help my appeal?)
Is there a way I can contact a supervisor or something to actually have them look at my help ticket. Three of the Four representatives were asking or suggesting things that have nothing to do with the appeal process. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
I wish I knew of a place to file complaints and also positive comments.
I have have some GW2 staff that I feel are not helping the company as a whole because they were being disrespectful and/or negligent in there duties.
I have also had some GW2 staff that were very helpful and I do like to leave positive comments when people go beyond what I expect.
I do not know how to actually file a ticket about problems with the staff because there is a risk of the person you are complaining about actually seeing your complaint, deleting it, and then banning my account.
The event of them invading Lion’s Arch and pushing them out is only this weekend. The new zone is supposedly a permanent zone added to the game.
They know people work, that is why they are doing the event on a Fri, Sat, Sun.
Weekend is the best time with the most number of people not currently at work. Especially those who have higher paying jobs that are only open Mon-Fri. These workers are the ones more likely to spend extra money on Gems because of there income.
Hmm in light of these comments, maybe I should wait an extra month for Haswell….Intel claims its launching in April 2013.
I am sure the Haswell would perform better then any stock CPU on the market. I am doubtful it would be better then the current overclocked CPU’s available. You could get lucky and you might be able to overclock a Haswell, but no one can say how far you will able to overclock it. The current CPU’s are reaching over 4.5 Ghz and thats a pretty high mark to beat from any stock chip.
GW2 is telling 100% truth when they post there system requirements.
Minimum = Without at least this level of parts your game probably will not run, and if it does it most likely will not be playable with about 5-10 FPS.
Recommended = If you want to play this game on Low settings with a playable FPS (20-30) this is what you need.
If you want anything Higher then low setting or higher then 30 FPS you will need a top end system..
I am not sure what your FPS would be on low settings, but with all settings you would probably be able to get 50 FPS in WvW with that computer.
Yup, just copy the folder.
This works most of the time and will most likely work for GW2.
A better method that I have used is to download the GW2 installing again. Run the installer so it puts the information in the system registry and the shortcut in your menus/desktop. Then, after it updates itself and starts to download the GW2 client, Stop it. Now is the time to copy your old folder over the new on the installer just made.
Some programs you can just copy and paste, other have to have the registry info created by the installer.
Make sure you are running the Render Sampling in the GW2 options at the Native or Normal resolution. If you are trying to run Supersample then you are trying to put 3840×2160 pixals on a 1920×1080 screen which is making your card work 4 times harder then your monitor can actually display.
I always press and hold the right mouse button down to make my turns. It is much faster and accurate after you get used to it. Once you know how to turn with the mouse well you can start advanced techniques such as circle strafing (Holding down the A or D turn key while at the same time holding the right mouse button down to keep focused on the target).
From what I understand is that no speed buffs stack. So you will be 5% if you just have the rune. 25% if you have the Signet on so your 5% rune is wasted. If you are in stealth you get 33% so both the signet and the rune will go to waste.
The only advantage of having the Signet of Shadows ( if its 25% when passive) and the Rune of the Traveler at the same time is when you activate the Signet to get the Active bonus you lose the passive bonus….the rune would still allow you to have 5% until your Signet recharges to passive status for your run speed again.
You are confusing “Guesting” with “Server Transfers”. What you are describing is “Server Transfers” and the issue with full realms.
“Guesting” is a feature that was never put in game yet. This allows you to play on the other servers with your friends without doing a server transfer. While you are a guest you would be locked out from joining WvW on that server because it is not your home server.
I am guessing when they do make this possible, if ever, it would be as simple as logging in to your own server with the character you want. Then just having a change server guest option menu to pick any other server you want to visit.
All at once is better because listing fee’s get rounded up to the nearest copper.
Selling 9c Item is lists for 1c (5% is 0.45c), Sell fee for 1c (10% is 0.90c) = Profit 7c
Selling 100 Items for 9c (900c) lists for 45c, Sell fee 90c, = Profit 765c = 7.65c each.
If the listing fee is returned like tooltip says and you pay 15% on the sale this happens:
Selling 9c Item fee for 2c (15% is 1.35c) = Profit 7c
Selling 100 Items for 9c (900c) , Sell fee 135c, = Profit 765c = 7.65c each.

I would not craft to 80 because that is a lot of extra waste. Where are you doing to get your mats to take all crafts to 400 so you can reach 80? You going to waste extra time farming mats or money to do it?
If you already have the mats of can afford them I recommend crafting to 40-50. This way you can open up 2 trait lines up to the 20 point mark right away. Then head to the Towns, then 1-15 zones, then 15-25’s….and work your way up from there. You should remain well ahead of the curve as long as your doing your storlines along the way.
Crafting Experience Starts at 500 for level 1 and each level goes up 1% each level. So it takes 505 points from 1-2. To go from 399-400 you need 24028 exp. In short crafting an item of equal level is designed to give you X% of your exp to next level, not a set amount of exp for each item itself. So for each level if you are making equal level items should take the same number of crafted items. This is the what make this crafting system so unique.
Character Level has a small incline rangeing from needing 1%-5.7% more exp each level. For level 2 you need 1% more then level 1. To reach 80 you need 5.7% more then level 79.
When your crafting exp gets applied to your character level you will gain more from 0-400 when your character is low level because you need less exp for each level and the higher level crafting recipes are providing substantial more then you could gain while actually playing your character. In the upper levels you may only get 10 Levels from 0-400, but at the lowest levels you get about 13 with no boosts.
Crafting booster doesn’t effect Character EXP gain, only the crafting EXP gain. (tho it will make your craft level faster, so your character will level faster, but your character will not level more than without it.)
I think the Crafting Booster does help Character Exp gain, but I have not really look at it that closely.
I think you only get Character Exp whenever you get a Critical in your crafting. That is why you do not get a boost every single item but I remember getting a good bump about 10% of the time.
Using a Crafting Booster would increase your Crafting Exp. If you get a Critical while under the effect of a Booster it only makes since the Critical Exp gain would be boosted also. This results in a both a boosted Critical Exp and a Character Level exp boost (only on crits of course).
Do not start a chargeback through PayPal prior to getting a response to your Support ticket with us, as this will cause an adverse affect on your game account!
In fairness to both parties PalPal requests that you try to resolve the issue with the company that did the charge before you even file a dispute.
If you do not get a resolution, there is no response, or your time is almost out for filing a complaint, then you should open a PayPal investigation.
I think AidanTaylor.3872 is trying to help save your account from automatic ban for doing a chargeback, this will happen to any account linked with your paypal account, even your main account which is paid for. He is not saying do not open an investigation, he is just trying get you too keep your cool, let the process take its coarse and do not advance your paypal beyoned the basic investigation to an immediate fraud chargeback status until you talk to support.
My level 2 alts went from 2-26 by maxing 2 crafting professions without any bonuses. They never left town. They never got the POI, Vistas, and Waypoints in town. They only stood at the crafting station and crafted. So yes…it is possible to get more then 13+ levels if you use a boost, and are level 2 when you do it. The crafting booster is 50%.
You need to buy the recipe from the Jeweler Vendor.

Point is laptops are slowly but surely becoming a more viable option for pc gaming
It is not completely true that Laptops are becoming a more viable option. Laptops are not very viable option to new software and they never will be. Laptops are however becoming a more viable option for older software.
Laptops have always been, and will always be a couple steps behind a home PC. All electronics are developed large in size, then miniaturized as time goes on. Miniaturization is how you get from Room Size PC, to Home PC, to Laptop, to Calculator. Due to this process a Laptop will never equal a Home PC unless they just completely stop trying to make better computers.
Computer programs are always becoming bigger and more advanced. As computer programs are developed they are designed to work on Home PC or Better systems. With each game taking 4-5 years to develop companies actually have to start with there idea when it would not even be possible on a current system, hoping to align its release with a PC that can handle it .
Laptops are however becoming cheaper to buy. People are becoming more technologically dependent. People want things that are easy to use and portable, like laptops. The majority of people however do not understand how technology advances and do not have any interest in understanding this. This is why more and more people are buying laptops just to be disappointed they can not do what a home PC does.
You should be able to disable the Integrated GPU in the Bios. That way your system will not even recognize it as an option.
If you are putting everything into Vitality and Defense you will have problems unless you really have a specific build in mind you are trying to do.
Power effects how much damage you do with your skills.
Precision effects your Critical Chance and Crit Damage.
Without one of these two you will be lucky if you kill anything and they will just keep pecking away at your health until you die.
If you missing 28 Poi, 9 Waypoints, and 5 more Vista’s you obviously have not done 100% completion. That sounds like you missed an entire zone. Are you sure you completed all Red, Blue, Green and Eternal WvW compleatly?
Daily’s always reset at Midnight GMT, just because your time zone changes there clocks it does not effect GMT. So now its at 7pm EST, when we switch our clocks in 6 months it will go back to 8pm EST.
After that you just continue playing and be a little more careful because currently they will not replace any lost/missing/scammed items. They will investigate your report and will take care of the scammer according to there rules.
It should as long as you go to the pre-paid visa website and are able to input your personal information like name, address, phone number. When they run the card it needs to match the personal information on file, and until you put that in it will be rejected.
The problem is your using a stock fan which is keeping your CPU under the 105 which is the maximum that CPU can handle before it gets destroyed. It is not good to have your CPU running that hot over any period of time. The most your CPU should run is about 85.
I highly recommend going with the Coolermaster Hyper 212+ Evo which is probably around the same price as that one you linked. I have my CPU clocked up to 4.30 at the moment and it does not reach 85 with that heatsink. The next step up is goes into self contained watercooling which starts at about $80 and is usually limited to those that really push the overclock on there systems.
It would not be a bad idea to upgrade the CPU and Video Card but I do not think this needs to be done at the same time with your system.
The best upgrade you could do for your system right now if upgrading your Video Card which should give you a very nice boost that is very playable. The Nvidia 460 GTX or the 560 TI would be a good choice. Then you can save up for your system upgrade.
Your CPU is a Duel Core that only runs at 2.3 Ghz. This is just a tad higher then the minimum system requirements which mean you will only be able to run the game on its lowest settings. Your CPU is just not powerful enough to process the information for many of the newer games out there without bottlenecking. This is why you are getting low FPS and spikes. Sorry to say your only option is to upgrade your system if you wish to see better performance.
Not so much a line, but that annoying screaming sound as if your falling off a cliff…even when jumping over a fence.
Your video card or cpu could be overheating. Most of the newer chips have built in heat protections that will reduce the speed and efficiency of the system if they get too hot so that they can cool down. How long has it been since you cleaned out all the dust clogging the heatsinks and fans in your system? Are you running temp monitors? What are your system specs? Did you change anything right before this started happening?
I agree that you should be able to COD something, but they should put a 15% fee on it to match the Trading Post. If the seller wishes to split the fee they just add 7.5% more to the COD requested.
Well that’s really the advantage of any direct trading, isn’t it? That you’re able to dodge the listing fees? Since you have to advertise and arrange the trade yourself for direct trades, I don’t think a fee is necessary.
Dodgeing listing fee’s should not be an advantage since a person is purposely trying to avoid certain mechanics of the game to give them an advantage ( One could almost say cheating, or call it abuse of the game). Listing Fee’s were actually designed to help provide a gold sink and keep inflation down in the game.
But you are right, a player does have to advertise and arrange the trade themselves, so maybe 15% to match the TP is too much, but I think there still should be some sort of fee so it still maintains some of that money sink goal to keep the economy stable longer.
Question: How to close my account in Anet/GW2 forum?

If you are really serious about closing your account then I am sure they could handle this if you send in a support ticket with this request. They may ask for verification that you are the true account holder before they do this though.

LithePanther is probably correct, even though I never saw any official post on this.
Of course if I ever see a mob that has a full stack of anything on it…generally I will switch out weapons and try to use something else that is not stacked out. This way I am helping take it out much more quickly then wasting attack dmg.
1. Make sure your Render Sampling is set to Resolution (Default).
Subsample cuts your pixals in 1/2. So 1920×1080 is like playing 960×540 magnified double size.
Supersample doubles your pixals. Trying to put 2x as many on your screen.
2. Like Wookalar said, Turn off Vsync. With Vsync on if your video card cant handle automatically cuts your FPS in 1/2. Example, Your Card wants 60 fps, if you pull 30-59 it will automatically limit it and give you 30. If your card hits 15-29 it will automatically limit it at 15. This should only be used if you have severe screen tearing of images.
3. Try keeping your Shadows set to None. Even if you have a system that handles them fine most of the time with good FPS, having this turned off will help keep your fps up when you do get in areas that hit your FPS hard.
4. Try keeping your Shaders toned down a bit, but not necessarily off. This will also help like #3.
5. If all else fails…upgrade your CPU to a 2550K or a 3570K and overclock it to 4.5 Ghz. This is probably your biggest improvement but its not free like the others.
They do keep a ranking system for WvW but it is not open for the public to see. This is how they determine the other 2 world you fight against every reset. The top 3 ranks fight each other, the next 3 fight each other, all the way down the list. So the 3 worst servers end up fighting each other and its still a fair battle. (Server transfers screw this up).
Actually they do and it is here
Thanks. I never knew they actually released the data now.

problem with this it cost money to have GM in the game. no one going to do for free
Actually plenty of people would be willing it do it for free.
The problem is when UO had there Advisor program everyone who applied agreed they would help others for free. There was a big class action lawsuit against Ultima Online and they ended up having to pay all everyone who said they would do it for free because they ended up giving one of them some free game time (payment). Since they paid one they had to pay everyone and they ended up losing a lot of money. This lead the MMO industry to avoid giving a volunteer player base special privlages like a GM to help others.
They left person to person trade out of the game on purpose.
They wanted to make sure there is no conflict about someone saying what and item is and selling you another that looks the same.
They also wanted to force players to use a Gold Sink of 15% when they sell there items to help keep the economy stable.
If a person decides to use the in game mail to try and save the 15% fee then they are assuming all the risk of being scammed on there own and no items or money will be replaced in the event of a deal going sour.
That section has been archived. Everyone can read but no one can post. It should open up next Halloween.
Some people have trouble understanding the English language, even the basics. Any time you talk about Cash and Gold in the same sentence someone is bound to report you just for the heck of it.
If this particular incident is the one they banned you for ( or any other ). You can try an appeal your ban and hopefully they will understand. Good Luck.
