A good group (I don’t mean elite superhuman players, just average people willing to invest the time) should be able to do each wing in maybe an hour. I’m hardly setting any records on DPS, I make mistakes same as anyone, several bosses can take multiple attempts to kill, and I’m normally done with a full clear in 4-5 hours.
Not everyone learns the same way, your mileage may vary etc, but here’s some thoughts based on how it went when I was first getting into raids.
If it’s taking 3 hours for a single wing, it simply means your group needs more practice, whether that’s on the boss mechanics, or with your class on the golem. If it’s the former, why not take it a boss at a time – rather than try to clear a whole wing, spend an hour or two on one boss only. Go away after you get the kill, recharge your batteries and come back to the next boss another time. Even if you don’t get the kill, walk away when time’s up – if you can’t do it fresh, it’ll only get more frustrating when you’re tired, but the time spent should help make things go easier next time.
While you’re learning, you don’t need to kill every boss every week. You might benefit from mastering two or three bosses by running them multiple times a week and ignoring the rest to start with, rather than getting frustrated on all of them at once. Learn a few, start doing those ones regularly, and then once you’re clearing those in only a few attempts each, add one or two more bosses to your weekly runs.
I love my cats! <3
We can get rid of them. For that there is the Feline Dispersion Resonator, OP most probably bought without knowing what it does ;D
Just disable it in your home instance.
I love you soooo much <3
Does that mean Nokomis is a cat?
Considering the last release included a trinket and two weapons, there’s no reason to assume weapons and trinkets are mutually exclusive. If anything, it shows they’re capable of working on more than one legendary between releases, and perhaps we’ve just been getting one weapon at a time so they can theme them to match the release.
I played Wildstar at its launch, and their dev team over-reached on their release cadence – new maps and story every month. After 2 of these releases, the game had built up such a backlog of bugs, some of which were pretty significant, that they had to literally cancel Christmas (and also Halloween) in their first year, and put a block on new content for several months until they caught up.
So be careful what you wish for. I would much prefer the current release rate, with a minimum of major issues (the ascended soulbinding issue from a year or so ago is pretty much the only bug I can recall arising from LS releases that had a major impact) than a faster release rate that will result in buggier and/or smaller updates.
I’ve been finding that too, mine seems to be about half a cycle out of sync at the moment. What works for me is waiting until the timer gets down to half remaining or less before submitting the code.
As long as you log in (as in select a character and load into any map, not just log in to character select), the current chapter is unlocked. You don’t need to start or complete any part of the living world chapter to keep it unlocked – once it’s unlocked, it’s unlocked for good.
The unlock is account-wide, so any character can play your unlocked chapters, even if characters you make in the future.
The 1 is showing you have 1 exp out of 1500 towards reaching rank 8.
The pip progress only resets between seasons, so you don’t need to try and rush it all this week.
Forgot to mention the skins – the weapons have unique skins (with an additional greatsword skin for collecting the all). You’ll be able to select the marauder stats you want, but you won’t be able to unlock the WupWup skin (I presume by that you mean the violet antique weapon skin like this).
Look in your acheivements at the Knight of the Thorn side story. It should start automatically after the first daily reset after you defeat Mordremoth.
You can choose a greatsword, sword, dagger, sceptre or shield when the side story is completed. It can’t be stat-swapped via the forge, but can be via an alternate method. For 1000 unbound magic, an NPC in your home instance will not only reset the stats to let you choose again, but will also let you choose which type of weapon again.
You can also repeat the quest with alts to get more of the weapons, but you have to craft some fairly expensive items to do so (for initial character, these items are provided for free as achievement rewards). All the details are in the wiki page I linked above.
We already have 3 legendary greatswords, so that is technically not missing.
Trident, Speargun and Spear are missing though.
They said a long time ago (in a stream a few months before HoT launched I believe) that the underwater weapons are not being included in the gen 2 legendaries.
They don’t carry over. You need to complete the meta achievement for part one before you can start accumulating wins per class for part two.
I had a problem like this a few years ago – I was running the Authenticator on my phone and it turned out its clock had gone out of sync. I fixed it by forcing the phone to update its clock by turning off automatic time syncing and then turning it back on.
You only get the “completed the story” rewards once per character and the “completed the achievement/challenge” rewards once per account.
Just to clarify, as I think it’s what the OP is asking – you can redo Bitter Harvest with a character who has already completed it to attempt any achievements you failed the first time. Once one character has completed the achievement and got the rewards, you can’t get the achievement rewards again, regardless of which character you use.
However, I agree with Illconceived Was Na, farming the Dragon’s Stand events is a better way to get crystalline ore, as you also get plenty of other loot at the same time, there are a lot of mastery points that can be obtained there just by doing the events you have to do as part of the meta event, and it’s good exp for levelling up masteries.

I’m pretty sure they’ve never dropped directly from bandits, bandits drop encoded orders (once per day) instead. The death marks come from embroidered coin purses.
You can rush through each chapter in a couple of hours if you just want to get the story done, so about 12 hours for the whole of LS3.
As for difficult bosses, they’re tend to be significantly easier with friends, so if you have someone to party up with you’ll find it a lot quicker.
English isn’t my first language so I’m not 100% certain on the double usage of the word “those” but maybe one of them should be “these”? Not sure :P
Perhaps someone with a better understanding of English grammar can chime in.
‘Those’ or ‘these’ are both acceptable in each case, it’s just that having ‘those’ twice feels a bit clumsy. The main difference between the words is distance. ‘These’ refers to something close, ‘those’ refers to something further away, so really it comes down to where the raptors and asuras are.
Another option is: Those are the asuras’ raptors
But I’d only recommend that in writing, as you can’t hear where the apostrophe is when spoken aloud.
While it’s not the only meaning of the word, ‘gipsy’ can be used as a racial slur.
Guild halls shouldent be inaccessible since you get another one in pof so cant see them locking the other two behind hot tbh.
According to the FAQthe new PoF guild hall will require HoT to claim it.
You must purchase Heart of Thorns to claim the new guild hall released in Path of Fire, and access the Scribe crafting discipline to fully upgrade your guild hall.
There’s a cap of 15,000 points, combined for dailies and monthlies – you’ve probably reached that.
I tried it earlier this week. Coincidentally, the only mastery point I had it in an invisible bag for was the one in Harathi Hinterlands, same as the OP. After that, I didn’t try any of the others with the electrum in the invisible bag.
I’m only about half way through the collection, so I’ll try the invisible bag again for some of the others.
Ok, so I’ve tried some of the others from an invisible bag, some work, some don’t. I can’t be 100% sure due to not trying this until halfway through the collection, but it looks like the maguuma mastery points work fine, but for the new core mastery points, you can’t have the electrum in an invisible bag.
The icons for hero challenges in HoT changed recently – the ones involving a fight now have an infinity symbol, indicating you can repeat the event daily for loot. The problem is they now show each challenge shows as incomplete if you haven’t completed it today for the repeatable rewards, even if you’ve completed it in the past and already earned the hero points. So what’s likely happening is you have completed them before and are being misled by the new icons.
The challenges without a fight now show a plus and the icons work as before – if it shows as incomplete, you’ve never previously completed it and it should reward you with hero points.
It’s worth remembering the various armour skins that were lost any means of obtaining them when the wardrobe was introduced (e.g. Tribal). It was a long time before they reappeared in PvP and WvW rewards tracks – well over a year if not two, and still a long time after it was confirmed in an AMA that they were working on a way to re-add them. It probably took so long because there were more important things (ie new content) to work on.
Unless they just add them to loot drop tables somewhere or in the mystic force using existing items (which I think would be a bit anticlimactic) it’s not necessarily a trivial job to add a means of obtaining them. If I had to guess, I’d say if they get added it’s mostly likely to be via collections to match the mistward armour – and we know from legendary weapons that creating interesting collections takes them a lot of time. Anyway anything to do with this is probably on the back burner right now because the current priority is PoF. In fact, I imagine it’s currently all hands to the pump as the release date rushes towards us.
Still, it’s good to see threads like this crop up from time to time, in case I’m completely wrong, and despite reminders on the forums and in AMAs, they have just been completely forgotten.
You don’t need to purchase HoT to play PoF, buy if you don’t then you won’t have access to HoT content (HoT masteries such as gliding, HoT elite specs, jungle maps, raid wings 1-4 and LS3).
There’s another factor that makes this unlikely – there is a finite set of weapons types. By gating weapons behind an elite spec, it leaves open the possibility of re-using that weapon with a different set of skills for a different elite spec later on. Otherwise some classes (particularly warrior) will start to run out of potential new weapons after a few elite specs.
I must admit I thought similar back when HoT came out, that there should be a core elite spec, and the one on each class tied most closely to the class mechanic seems the obvious choice.
But then I thought about weapons and skills. Elite specs include a set of skills and a weapon unique to that spec. How would you handle that with converting a core spec to be an elite? For example, staff and spectral skills are associated with the necro’s soul reaping spec – should they be removed when the spec isn’t taken? It feels like that should happen if the spec is to become an elite, but it also seems like it would be too big of a backward step for build diversity.
But the reward is not HPs, just experience and the map’s respective currency. So what’s the point? Since when can a HP Challenge be a “daily”? Never seen any listed there. (confused)
The repeatable ones are those with a fight, and there’s a bouncy chest of loot as a reward, not just currency – I’ve had a precursor drop from doing these before. It’s not a spectacular reward unless you get lucky, but still something.
I think it’s just to indicate that it’s an event you can complete for a daily reward chest..
I’ve just looked through how they are for me, and it looks like:
+ and incomplete – no repeatable reward and you’ve never completed it
+ and complete – no repeatable reward and you’ve completed it once
Infinity and incomplete – there’s a repeatable reward and you’ve not completed it today
Infinity and complete – there’s a repeatable reward and you’ve completed it today
The problem is, with the infinities, there’s no way to see the difference between ‘not completed today’ and ‘never completed’

Do you have the electrum in an invisible bag?
It works from invisible bags. (Or it least it did for me when I did it; I kept stuff there so I wouldn’t accidentally deposit-all.)
Of course, it has to be in inventory, not in the bank…
That’s odd, because they didn’t work there for me, I saw exactly what the OP described and had to move them to a different bag.
Do you have the electrum in an invisible bag?
No, HoT isn’t free, but it’s also not required to play PoF.
The wiki only mentions eligibility icons appearing for Not On My Watch and Cleaning Up The Mess in that instance.
I’m not sure all acheivements show on the bar like that, I think it’s typically just ones that you can either gain (e.g via a challenge mote) or lose (e.g. exceeding time limit or getting hit by a specific attack) eligibility for. I’m fairly sure art critic never showed up for me, but was still completeable, because you’re always eligible for it.
That is a gyro, it’s part of the engineer’s elite spec, scrapper. The scrapper’s skills all summon gyros for different effects (explosion, stealth, healing, etc), and a scrapper also has a permenantly summoned one that can be used to stomp enemies.
The first HoT betas were pretty much identical to the demo ArenaNet took to cons, and that was deliberately undertuned so as to be accessible to people unfamiliar with the game. The fact that for PoF it’s described in game as a demo, not a beta, and ArenaNet are going to GamesCon and PAX West in the next few weeks, it’s entirely likely it’s been undertuned again for the same reason.
Also consider it was open to all, so there will have been completely new players who downloaded the free version to try the demo before buying, so again, ArenaNet will not have wanted to scare them away by throwing them in at the deep end.
PoF specs could end up overtuned to encourage people to play them, although given that each expansion is being sold separately rather than all being bundled together, maybe PoF elites will be on par with HoT elites because one way or another you’ll need to pay for at least one of the expansions to get access to the elite(s) you want.
Wait, what? As far as I know, new players who buy PoF additionally get the core campaign as well as HoT for free.
No, you get the core game, but not HoT. There’s an option to buy HoT at a discounted (I think) price at the same time as you buy PoF, but it’s not included for free.
Assuming it works the same way as with HoT then yes, you’ll need to wait for PoF to be released, and complete the first PoF story instance to unlock core masteries. Alternatively, you could purchase HoT and complete its first story instance to unlock them now.
Crystal Desert solely and only.
if you look on the map to look where the dragon lair is and you compare it with old maps you will see that just by the merit of balthazar going after dragon we should get gw1 crystal desert, desolation [aka full crystal desert] and a healthy chunk of vabbi
don’t be mislead by river elon being in wrogn place :P
Wasn’t it stated in lore that the River of Elon was redirected by Joko ? So of course its going to be in the wrong place after all of this time …
Yes, it now flows into the Crystal Desert instead of into Vabbi – it’s how Joko conquered Vabbi, by starving them into submission. This is explained in the Movement of the World that I linked above.
If you read the Movement of the World, we already know what has happened to both Turai Ossa’s descendants and the Sunspears since GW1 – I’ve put a TLDR in the spoiler below:
Palawa Joko requires the Elonians people to give up any descendants of Turai Ossa they find, and they are conscripted into the living portion of his army.
There is a small remnant of the Sunspears still in existance, but Joko has an order of undead former Sunspears called the Mordant Crescent dedicated to hunting the last of them down.
You’ve hit the cap on points from dailies – it’s 15,000 combined between monthlies and dailies.
From the patch notes:
The 64-bit client is no longer in beta. The 32-bit client will now automatically switch to the 64-bit client if the conditions appear favorable.
I used to use the beta client, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t need to do anything to switch.
The White Mantle are assocaited with bandits – you could try looking near bandit camps.
More specifically, the camp in the north east of the map, by Willem's Bandits point of interest. Head north through the camp, and the entrance is hidden behind it.
Thanks Just A Flesh Wound for your reply. So i tried using an Infusion on one of the earrings which works however I am still unable to wield both earrings simultaneously.
I’ll try to ask Anet if i can get an exchange.
It’s been some time, but I’m pretty sure it’s agony infusion that you have to use the mystic forge to add, and it’s expensive, or so I read. Unless you’re going to infuse for high level fractals you’re probably better off getting a swap.
You can’t infuse accessories, only rings and backpacks, so this isn’t going to work for the OP anyway.
Here’s the announcement from ArenaNet, confirming elite specs are in the second beta weekend, not the first: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/get-ready-for-the-guild-wars-2-path-of-fire-preview-weekend/
You ought to be able to use your hero points for Deadeye just fine.
The devs literally can’t require you to take Daredevil before Deadeye, since they are not bundling HoT with PoF. You can buy PoF without owning HoT, and thus locking the PoF specs behind the HoT specs is impossible, because those who don’t own HoT would be permanently locked out of their respective elite specs. Which would obviously be a huge mistake and result in a ton of bad press and angry players. Not going to happen.
The only thing they can do is jack up the prices on the new elite spec while making all the hero challenges in PoF give more per challenge, making it so that you can only reasonably get the PoF specs if you do PoF content.
But even then, saving your points from HoT means you can get Deadeye faster, even if you still need to do some PoF stuff to pad your numbers.
For example, lets say they made the PoF specs cost 600 hero points, then made the PoF hero challenges give you 30 points a piece. Even with every single hero point from HoTyou’d still fall short of getting the full Deadeye spec (though I think you’d reach that point if you had every point from both HoT and the core game, perhaps). But you’d have a good head start on getting there at least.
They may or may not even do that, depending on how much they want to force / incentivize the PoF maps. I mean, if they do go that route, skill point numbers are going to balloon completely out of control very quickly (the next expansion would need to hit 1000 or something) so I don’t know if they’ll go that direction or just count on the fact that most people are going to want both elite specs and / or will just want to play PoF for the sake of being new content and not JUST for the elite spec.
They could also change the way that elite specs are unlocked and do something like require you to farm up 250 Glint Snot points from Glint Snot challenges in order to spend your snotdragon points unlocking your elite. I would expect them to do something to prevent everyone from buying their elite spec right out of the gate. I hope they don’t but I do expect that they will.
I do agree that they can’t make you have HoT after saying PoF is a stand alone expansion.
I think a completely new type of hero point is unlikely. Last time round, there were already enough points to unlock almost half of the elite spec (which changed to 80% when elite spec costs got reduced from 400 to 250), and we were able to use those pre-existing points.
There was also a fairly common complaint last time that people wanted to play the new content with the new spec, rather than have to get deep into it before they had enough points to unlock it.
Based on that, I think it’d be odd for the new elite specs to be locked behind a new type of hero point, or inflated prices. We’ll just have to wait and see, last time round the elite spec costs were at least announced prior to launch (about a week before IIRC).
(Also you’re pretty much spot on about reaching 600 between HoT and core if you don’t spend any on the HoT elite spec, there are 614 hero points available)
It’s not the client, the EU datacenter in Frankfurt had a total power failure,
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DGuzCA7UIAAaXA1.jpg:largeI don’t think so – that’s talking about not being able to login at all. Is anyone else having the same problem?
Yeah, autologin isn’t working for me either since the update. Before the update it was at least automatically trying and failing to log in when I started the patcher, since the update I have to click on the log in button.
Seeing as you can own PoF without HoT, it seems unlikely that the PoF elites would be gated behind HoT elites for those that own both.
There are a lot of spare hero points though (364 to be exact), so assuming PoF elites cost the same as HoT elites (not confirmed yet), there’s already enough hero points in game to unlock both.
Yeah, I’m finding the new updater a little too garish for my taste. Then again, I don’t normally have to look at it for long, so I’m not too bothered by it – except, of course, today, where it’s the only part of the game I can look at.
As for not being able to log in. it’s due to a power outage at the European data centre – see https://twitter.com/GuildWars2/status/894973110784544769 and https://twitter.com/GuildWars2/status/895005800351113217.
