That would be amazing! My vote goes to Logan for the second one <3
I’d really love to join in on the flute (I play the recorder irl), but I’m on EU. I wish you the best of luck though!
I don’t think Jeremy Soule will put it up for sale, at least not outside of Directsong. And if I were you I’d avoid that site anyways., even if he decides to list it on there again. Reference: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1uhfka/jeremy_soule_has_made_a_wonderful_soundtrack_for/
I full think they put in an on/off switch for this quest. I am still working on mine with my 1st character but I no intention of doing again and honestly I looking at the green blob on the map or the little green arrows in LA telling me to go do the quest….
X_X “I won’t! I won’t! You can’t make me!!!!”
I agree. It’s definitely in the way as well, especially for people with smaller monitors.
1. Expansion
2. Living Story schedule changed to every 4 weeks
3. Improvement on story and storytelling
I never go past Claw Island myself after playing it on my main (who is still at some lvl 70+ Orr mission since almost a year back, I simply couldn’t bother any more). I really enjoy the racial part though, it has many different options and nice bits of lore: Caudecus, Malyck and the infinity ball are some examples. The order-of-choice part is quite fun as well imo.
What about the other two skins? If the new sets are supposed to be visually distinct, those are just as far from it as the T3 one.
I’ve been on both Gandara and Piken Square, and I find both great. I think Gandara has a slightly bigger population, and some great guilds both for PvE and WvW. Piken Square, as it is the unofficial RP server, often feels more full because there is more going on in chat and in cities.
Just my own experience though

This contains some nice short stories as well as descriptions of both the playable races and other races and enemies in the game. Focus is on GW2.
If you want to dig into GW1 lore as well (if you find yourself interested, I can recommend it since there are some really good stories, it is not in any way necessary for understanding the GW2 lore though):

As far as I can remember, there were much more flexible height configurations in Aion, for example, but anyone there could sit a chairs.
I would just forgive them refer to more important things. However, over the year of game, we saw only a slight readjustment of the AC (bugs left), recycled tequila, loot from champions, badges bag and one big balance patch (many bugs have remained the same). Not very impressive. If they have tried, could do all this in month
On the topic of Aion, when typing /sit a stool actually would spawn for your character to sit on. Maybe this could be a solution for GW2? Then they wouldn’t have to animate every chair in the game.

I hope it’s Caithe, I don’t want another new sylvari character :/
I’ve been thinking about this too! The music that used to play at character creation was so epic and really got me pumped up to go into the game. Now it feels a bit bland and boring, even though it’s supposed to be the opposite; we’re creating heroes after all!
I think that when Arenanet decided to step away from “old-school” MMO quests they were visioning a much more interactive way of telling you the massive amounts of lore hidden in long text walls. Instead of being told what was going on, they wanted us to be able to see it happen through the dynamic events. This is a wonderful idea that makes Tyria feel alive, but there are a few downsides to it:
1. No full replacement for text walls
It would be very difficult to make the same amount of details that were found in the GW quest texts actually visible through gameplay, and thus the depth of the GW2 lore has suffered from this decision. We simply have no real alternative to completely replace quest texts in terms of backstory and details to fully understand what we see happening on the screen; the result is plots and stories throughout the world appearing more shallow than before.
2. Rushed story content
Because it’s harder to present a story by showing it to you instead of telling you (making cutscenes, animations, voice acting, bug fixes) there just might not be enough time to create good and compelling storylines, especially not every two weeks aside all the other updates going into the game. They’ve chosen an expensive and time consuming way to tell the lore, and when they put in the resources to do this well it becomes amazing (I think the early human personal story levels are good examples) – but sometimes it feels like they don’t, and many storylines and characters feel like they could have been so much more if they had received more attention.
I was angry about the LS some time ago, critizising it wherever I went. Then they released the Zephyr Sanctum chapter, and I changed my mind completely. The Zephyr Sanctum is proof of just how amazing the LS can be. Achievements that didn’t feel like chores (I loved the sky crystals!), a compelling story going on (ties to dragons, eventually Cantha AND to the earlier LS chapters with Evon, Ellen and the Aetherblades; a nice way to keep several elements of the story advancing), an explorable zone with breathtaking beauty and a great soundtrack to further enhance the experience. I was so excited every morning to log in and play, and I enjoyed every moment of it!
I have to agree the portraying of Scarlet was a bit disappointing… For now I’m just hoping that later patches will expand on the story and her character; we don’t even know her motives yet, so there’s still opportunites to make her appear less shallow (for example, it could turn out that the college thing is a lie, or at least I hope so – that part is just strange!).

This rose has thorns…
…Here they are!
I managed to find the names on Arenanet’s soundcloud. It seems like there are three people mainly composing atm: Leif Chappelle, Maclaine Diemer and Stan LePard. Labyrinthine Cliffs and Sanctum Sprint are by Leif Chappelle, and the Dragon Bash March is by Maclaine Diemer. Hope this helps! I’m also sad that Jeremy Soule won’t write more music for GW2, but at the same time I find it fun getting to know the style of these new composers (especially since the music has been great!).
I love those screenshots, especially the one with the water wheels! Looking through my folder I found two pictures I liked. I’ll really miss the Bazaar and how beautiful it was now that it’s going away, hope they’ll bring it back sometime!
You, yourself, will actually be sucked into the world of Tyria and assume the body of your character and there you will live the rest of your days trapped in the game.
puts character in Labyrinthine Cliffs and crosses fingers
Those posts were written long before this latest patch. Yet we right now have an explorable area going away in just a few weeks…
Gone for me too on Gandara
…May it never rise up again!…
I knew that there would be a catch! First they show off the awesome events, the cool new stuff, and then… The gambling advertisement starts.
All the awesome lore that we haven’t heard much about since.
Going through zones with “Map completion” turned off in map settings. I love the feeling of finding a cool place by myself and not just because it was a PoI, a vista or a skill point. I also do whatever event I pass by in the process and immerse myself in the story of the zone by reading all NPC text available. Soloing champions or doing jumping puzzles is also really fun!
Wooden potatoes uploads in beta – almost every day
Wooden potatoes uploads now – once a 2-3 months, doesn’t it tell you something?
Maybe he is now also playing the game instead of just making videos about it?
Also, saying that he only uploads about GW2 once a 2-3 months is simply a false statement. There have been four during this month only, and all of these are much more research-heavy then the dailies before release were.
“Guild Wars 2 is your story. You affect things around you in a very permanent way.”
I loved those sentences when I watched the Manifesto, and to see that it’s actually becoming an important part of the game makes me really excited! I’m very much looking forward to this
“Everybody get to the inn! We can protect you at the inn!”
There’s a brief list on the wiki: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Beta
More Destiny’s Edge in the PS, not only in the dungeons!
In general, I think the early part of the story was a whole lot better. More depth, and better characters than in the higher level parts (yes, I’m looking at you Trahearne).
But what I’d change first, is probably the last battle. Why I need a party to do my personal story still confuses me…
It was a bit clunky sometimes since everyone still mainly played in the starting zones. There were some problems with party members being in different overflows without any chance to join the same one, some bugs with events and with the personal story, but what I remember as the most annoying was the TP going down all the time.
I usually have no plans logging in, I tend to start with my main though. There is nothing more exciting than just following what’s going on at the moment around you in GW2. If nothing’s going on, I might just waypoint to Divinity’s Reach to look at the beautiful architecture for a bit. Then I head back into the world, doing some exploration/jumping puzzles, or I switch characters to level an alt. Sometimes I join up with my guild to do some WvW, but not too often – my computer can’t handle the zergs that well. Following whatever event is happening at the moment is what I love the most though. I have set up a rule for myself to never farm events, as I feel they get boring the moment I start focusing on the reward instead of the experience. I try to see the game as the sylvari say: “Where life goes – so, too, should you”.
No, I wouldn’t pay a subscription fee to play any game.
As soon as I heard about this I decided to not finish my personal story. I love lore in games, but my experience with dungeons and teaming up with others for them is way too bad for me to be able to do this one. I don’t want my hero to have to invite 4 complete strangers to be able to clear what she has done perfectly by herself and with her allies (npcs who have actually been properly introduced to the story) up until the last mission. That is not the epic end I thought it would be, only 4 poor players having to put up with my horrible combat skills…
I love the Guild Wars 2 combat with weapon swapping and utility skills, but why are none of these functions available in underwater combat? I understand the reason why some effects (such as the warrior stomps) can’t be implemented underwater, but there is no reason for why condition removals and such wouldn’t work. Also, only having two weapons to choose from is pretty dull. I can live with underwater combat as it is, but it’d be more fun if it was less of “waiting for cooldown on only good skill”, especially when facing multiple enemies. It also makes it a lot more difficult to survive.
I think I would, yes. Though I love playing around with the looks of my characters with armor and dyes, that is something I could definitely do without. But it would raise the bar on how immersive the zones have to be: for example I’d go through Queensdale or Kessex Hills happily without loot, but in zones with less interesting events and storylines it’d be different.
Well, the MMO I played before GW2 was Aion, but I never got to the level cap. I simply couldn’t stand how clunky the system was. It might have been good enough for me at the start, but after a couple of GW2 beta weekends I just couldn’t stand questing and farming mobs for xp, so I simply stopped playing altogether. What I love with GW2 is that I can actually survive around the game without a set of the top tier armor, it’s a really nice change from the usual elitism MMO games out there. Perfect for someone like me, seaching for immersion – it’s what this game provides the best.
I’ve been playing since release and I still feel like this about this game. Sadly, this forum tends to be dominated by people being negative about it, so it’s nice to see a thread like this once in a while.
16 and loving the game!
1. Yes
2. Sadly, no. They were better at this during the beta than now, it feels like they don’t have enough people to handle everything.
3. Yes
4. No
5. Yes
I have fought the Shatterer twice, once with high graphic settings (which I decided to never do again on my PC) and once with low graphic settings, and when I switched to low I got this bug after taking a big hit.
Well, I’m not lvl 80 yet, so I’ll stick with it for now, but if it isn’t fixed by the time I go into Orr, dungeons and WvW full time, that’s when I leave. I’ll keep following the news though and I’ll be ready to jump back in when it’s fixed as I love this game.
