It shows me how Anet developers had most of the fun: they colored my coloring book, and gave me few choices. They changed what little variety of items they had for level 80’s, making the player a controlled puppet strictly directed to small areas to acquire items and gold. Then they left me with nothing to buy with my gold.

The game could be alot of fun if more sandbox, player controlled content is added: such as open world consensual pvp/guild battles, non-instanced customizable housing/guild housing, and fun, meaningful profitable crafting. My cook does not even have a stove, nor my blacksmith a forge. A game that at least has the most popular features will be very successful

The problem as a whole is lack of items to play for (level 80’s) in the entire game. So they bunch us all up in a few locations that give one or two items…..then one month later add restrictions to it, lol.

Why not just add many more items that we want to the game, and spread them out in the world. This is the least we expect in a game. Many games have botters, and gem shops. But they don’t take away the reasons we play for (loot/treasures/items) and make us play in tiny locations with strict limitations to get the loots.

—Will there ever be player controlled open world consensual pvp/guild vs guild?

—Adding any sandbox features to the game? example: player made theaters, musical instruments, growing crops in the open world, cross breeding plant system…etc….etc…

Will new items ever be added to the open world mobs? Or will they continue to be strictly controlled by ways such as of dungeons, laurels, events?

I think its pathetic how controlled, dictated, and limited the loot (treasures) are after you reach level 80. But then again…there nothing to buy with your gold even if you do make some. (unless your saving for the one item they offer: the legendary)

Should outdoor boss events drop loot?

Any special events in most games drop something “special” and worth while to attend the event. Also, all mobs in world should be worth hunting in order to gain rewards…the longer you hunt the more rewards you should get. In GW2 it seems just the opposite: the more time you spend in the game the less loot. Variety of rewards are too few, too strictly dictated and too controlled…taking away all the fun of playing a game.

The problem is the lack of loot (items we want) in the open world. If there were more items (that we want) dropping from the open world mobs at a decent rate, the players would not have to be all bunched up at the same few locations. Botting and/or gem shop sales has made all loot drops strickly dictated and controlled gameplay: dungeons, laurels, events.

Guild Wars 2 Personal and Guild houses

As long as they don’t do it like Ultima Online where people could buy houses and place them anywhere out in the world. On any server with a decent population it got to the point where the biggest challenge in exploring the “wilderness” was finding a way between the houses.

But i doubt GW2 will ever implement sandbox player controlled content. Because so far it is the opposite: very strictly dictated non-player controlled gameplay.

Personally I’d like player houses to be instanced. Ideally they’d be within the home instance since that is supposed to be where your character lives, but maybe there could be options to buy houses in other places (also instanced).

“Instanced” takes away neighborhood and community personality/bonding, and functions. They can make much bigger worlds now, and include non-instanced zones just for housing…so that when you are there you are exploring the homes, yards, community and people.

But i doubt GW2 will ever implement sandbox player controlled content. Because so far the game is very strictly dictated non-player controlled gameplay.

And not because we care about the boss or the event, but because we want that loot drop.

Let me ask where loot should be gotten from then. If you say dungeons than let me make an unpopular proposal for you and that is to remove loot chests from dungeons.

If anything loot needs to be better throughout the gameworld not worse and or have content locked down.

Because of botting and/or gem shop sales, open world loot was nerfed the first month or so of the game. So now we have to acquire the treasures (that level 80’s want) in a strictly controlled and dictated way (dungeons, events, laurels).

I’m specifically talking about open-world meta events that provide treasure chests at the end of the event. And there is nothing stopping bots and other “illegal” farmers from taking advantage of these same events alongside legitimate players, “strictly controlled” or not.

A bot can’t farm the same “event” chests over and over because its strictly controlled and dictated: you don’t keep getting chests repeating the event. But the bots could farm the same normal mobs in the world over and over again and get good loot, before the loot was nerfed.

They have already nerfed loot in the open world the first month or so of the game due to botting and/or gem store sales. So now anything most rewarding to the level 80 player is strictly directed and controlled game play, such as dungeons, laurels, and the few selected events. If they continue to nerf open world rewards, the game will seem rewardless and not worth playing. What we need are tons of new items added to the game regularly, so that we have something to play for. After level 80 there is only one item to play for: the legendary.

More sandbox type gameplay would not be so strictly directed and add tons of new items to both the player and the gen shop: customizable player/guild housing would be a good start:)

How about adding more items that the player wants to the open world?

Rewards were taken away from open world mobs because of botting. And as the open world became rewardless, they add a few more rewards to a few events…making them crowded now. But the game can still add rewarding items in other ways such as crafting, player/guild customizable housing. This alone would add tons of new items to the game to play for, and spread out the farming.

Nerfing of rewards or increasing the difficulty is not the answer for everything. Especially since players of multiple levels are doing the selected rewardable events, and especially since the game is lacking in items to play for after you reach level 80.

If the game had more variety of items people want in the open world (after level 80) then everyone would not not need to farm in the few locations offered.

Even so, getting a few rares and selling them is still boring. What am i going to buy? There only one item offered i cannot afford: the legendary. GW2 is a huge beautiful game that after level 80 offers one item to play the game for.

If there were more variety of the items people want, then players would not have to camp the few popular spots. Nerfing everything is not the answer. People play the game to get treasures, and make gold and with the time/difficulty level they are used to. Getting a rare or 2 is not a big treasure in GW2 considering what its worth in the TP. The bigger problem is that we don’t have many items to buy with our gold after level 80.

I am not sure if this is actually possible or not, in fact I doubt it. but wow is pretty good for this. why can we not have a character on different servers? why have guesting at all?

The norm for most games for the past 15+years has been 4-6 character per shard/or per server. So one account could have the max number of characters on each server. And the usual cannot share/transfer items across servers.

But GW2 has this odd one account per server but can use an limited guesting feature. Its good to do something new and unique, but not good if it limits usual gameplay we have come to like and expect.

The lag problem can be fixed without decreasing the Fun (rewards). The problem as a whole with GW2, is that there are not enough variety of rewards (items in the game). So the few places that have the few items people want are going to always be crowded.

Look at the game as a whole, before deciding to nerf the few reward items available.

You’re simplifying the problem. The reason why the WOrld Events are crowded to the point of hitting the limits of the game because they’re incredible rewarding for how easy they are. While Orr/Dungeons were profitable before, they were also arguably difficult.

You have to bring the reward/effort ratio to be the same. To do that you have to either.

1. Lower World Event loot
2. Make Lower World Event more challenging
3. Increase loot everywhere else
4. Lower difficulty of events everywhere else.

The world events that are now giving a reward worth playing that event take time and group effort. People are now doing them because the reward= the time involved. If the reward is nerfed again, then why do the event? People will be back in the dungeons again, or playing the TP. And not everyone likes GW2 dungeons, or playing the TP.

The game as a whole does not have enough variety of items. And the overall difficulty of the game is on the high end, when it comes to gameplay involving items we want after level 80: dungeons, group play, mobs that have high hit points and take a long time to kill. Also getting a few rares, which does not even equal one gold…is still not a big reward for events that take a long time. But there is only one item so far in the game that requires much gold: the legendary. What we really need is more new items introduced regularly to have something worth playing for. I think the people most angry about the game giving more rewards are the people who play the Trade Market.

Any event or mob creature that takes a long time to kill should be more rewarding then the opposite. The lack of rewards, lack of crafting resources, nodes, and new items is what the game needs more of to make it fun. But still i think the game as a whole is too restricting with strictly directed scenario based gameplay, and needs more sandbox player controlled gameplay (such as open world consentual pvp/guild battles, player/guild housing).

The lag can be fixed by other means then taking away the fun (rewards) that draws the crowd. And the gem store can be profitable by simply adding tons of items rather then taking away the little amount of items already in the world.

Do you think that patches have been encouraging fun, intuitive, and engaging game-play, or do you feel that the patches have been destroying the fun by creating uninteresting mechanics, repetitive unintuitive game-play, balancing factors, and items? To help you think, here is a list of some things that have come with patches throughout Guild Wars 2’s lifetime.

  • Nerfs/Buffs

  • The Lost Shores
  • Mad King’s Day
  • Wintersday
  • New balancing factors relating to farming, items drops, etc.

  • New gem store items
  • Bug fixes
  • New sPvP maps
  • New WvWvW mechanics
  • Banning bots
  • Updates to how you play the game, dailies monthlies etc.

Intuitive, and engaging game-play: Yes, the patches have added this.

More than that though, by making it once a day per toon it also means someone with many alts can get a significantly higher amount of loot. And I’ve heard (but haven’t tested yet myself), that you can get it again while guesting, which would compound the gap.

I mean, if someone has one character they can hit, say, the Frozen Maw once. Someone with 8 characters can hit it 8 times.
If it is indeed possible to hit it on guested servers then the gap becomes 3 times for one character and 24 times for 8.
This means people buying more characters can potentially reap considerably higher rewards .
In essence, it becomes a pay to win scenario.

The thing that boggles my mind is that some people are actually glad for this change, claiming the previous setup was “heavily exploited”.
But the thing is, at least that way everyone had the same opportunity for reward, the same number of rolls on the RNG slot machine, because it didn’t matter that player X was swapping characters to redo the event, player Y could do the event just as many times and get just as many chances at loot with a single character.

Anyone who believes people aren’t going to capitalize on the “per character” part is a fool.

Idiots.

This is good because it encourages me to make alts, and level new characters to 80. Which means more players leveling in the newbie zones again

I finally got my cooking to level 400 and a friend of mine asked me to cook a bunch of level 80 foods for him. So I went to the trading post to buy the ingredients. When I totalled the price for 4/5 of the things he was interested in, I found the finished product on the BLTC at a cheaper price than the ingredients. I then crafted one item to find that I don’t even get any experience for crafting max level items since I hit my crafting cap. This is stupid. There is no point to crafting since even with legendaries you can buy the finished product on the trading post. Really-what is the point. I mean, even gear is not the best stat level in the game, so I am completely baffled as to why I wasted my time and game money doing this.

Many people feel the same, that the crafting is not fun because its not rewarding. But i doubt Anets development of their crafting system will ever change to be what the player wants because its never even been discussed weather we like it or not.
