Don’t expect it to be easy to get GWAMM right off the bat. Play GW1 because the story is better than GW2 and the combat has meaning besides pressing 1-5 until the enemy is dead.
It’s called a “Paragon” and they are a profession that was released with Nightfall.
What I mean to say for those that did not play GW1 is that if they were going to make such a thing, they would have implemented it in this expansion.
It’s name…
Is…
Scarlet Briar.
My God… Are you sure you don’t work for the Anet writing team, because this is just GENIUS.
I can’t wait to get back to Cantha and defeat the exciting new villian, Shimo Taguchi who is trying to harness the power of dragons, but there’s also a rogue God, or something… You know what, just buy more gems okay?
What is the relationship between Asura pyramid and the Crystal Desert pyramid if any?
Asura like geometric shapes and Elona did not have any sort of grand pyramids as I recall.
I’m so happy to see another great expansion to my favorite game, World of Guildcraft.
. He is the god of war and fire. It will always be*evil* in some way. However there is a difference between neccessary evil and evil evil. Right now he is the latter.
I’m no master lore master, but he was never evil in GW1.
Balthazar GW1:
Cool guy who values strength, courage, and honor in battle. You ask him for assistance in fighting a god, and he (amongst the others) offers only words of encouragement for the upcoming battle.
Balthazar GW2:
IM A SIMPLE COMIC BOOK VILLIAN F*** HUMANS ILL KILL YOU ALL I HATE EVERYONE FITE ME M8 YU’LL GET #REKT 360 NOSCOPE MY BLADE IS DARK AS MY SOUL #MOUNTS_NOW_AVAILABLE_IN_WORLD_OF_GUILDCRAFT #BUYMOREGEMS
Also, if he can just simply conjure up an army even in the presumed weakened state the gods are in in GW2, why the heck didn’t he do so to clear Menzies out of his realm in GW1? What’s Menzies doing now anyway?
Seriously, I would have actually thought it was neat if the Menzies/Dhuum partnership came back as the big bad this time as both have a precedent of essentially being an evil fallen God, but no, writers are being crap like always.
Oh God, I can’t even imagine what they’re going to do to Joko, the Sunspears, or anything else that I remember fondly from GW1.

Behind the scenes at Anet:
Anet Writers: So how do you want your game story?
Anet Directors: Just kitten our entire game up even further.
Anet Writers: Say no more.
they either extinct or the invisible to mortals eye. thats why you see wagons w/ horses
Actually… Mad King Thorn has a pony named Gum Drops, the Noble Steed who is invisible, so you are correct in that the only known horse in Guild Wars is invisible.
Go to the east side of Tarir (The Forgotten City), and you will see a waterfall. It drops onto a big SLIDE. This slide lets you actually slide! Step onto it, and your character strikes a pose as he surfs his way to the bottom of the ramp!
This is an amusing distraction for a little while, but I have two wishes:
- 1) I wish we could do EMOTES on the Water Slide. For some reason, ANet kills that ability. People would have a ton more fun seeing what clever poses they could strike on the way down.
- 2) I wish in-game ice acted “slippery” like this. Either that, or let us buy ICE SKATES that give us this effect on ice. It’d be an awesome addition to Wintersday! (Remember how fun it was to “skate” in Marhan’s Grotto in GW1 before they nerfed it?)
How about it, people? After a few times down the water slide, what can you do to “spice it up”? Do Legendary Weapons leave footprints or Aura trails? What skills/spell effects make it a more interesting ride? (Tumbling works, but I couldn’t get a decent screen shot). Maybe a Box ’o Fun at the top, so you can PETRIFY yourself in an amusing pose for the trip to the bottom?
Get creative! What can YOU do to spice up the Forgotten City Water Slide?
How did you get purple undergarments?
This is only slightly on topic, but I, personally, would like to see some old armors come back, like ht Necromancer’s Scar armor and the Monk’s Tattoo armor.

The last mission in the cave was awful, mostly for the two main reasons below.
1. It’s half an hour of “Kill x waves of x baddies”. Not fun at all.
2. Braham is back to crying and pouting like a little baby, and the commander is all of a suddenly acting haughty as well, and almost like a petulant child that doesn’t get his or her way, but still knows infinitely better tan everyone. Can you just kill off Braham already if you’re going to write him as a three year old?
If the story didn’t contradict what was in GW1.
I believe Reiko was the best boss fight, at least in hard mode.
One can add seven henchmen and afk Shiro to death.
All the people who say they can’t play it because of the non-living world events and static skill usage probably never played it past the first mission. I can go back to GW1 any time and still very much enjoy it. In fact, I went back to finally get my GWAMM and loved it, then did WoC in HM for the first time. I just wish there was more to do that I haven’t done a million times.
I don’t want fancy graphics, I want more GW:B.
I may be biased since I played GW1 first, but it’s a better game overall. Sure, GW2 movement is wonderful, but there’s no skill and the writing is awful. It’s definitely worth playing, and if you join a guild/alliance you’ll have no trouble playing with others.
It looks like with powerful enough magic, absolutely.
In GW1, the Necromancer class’s minions were never intelligent, but those of Vizier Khilbron often were, like poor Prince Rurik. Zhaitan also uses this to his advantage in the GW2 core story.
Whoa, watch the spoilers, it’s only been 12 years.
I’m sure this as all been said already, but it’s dumb how the Priory knew about Jade Armors, and how convenient it is that miss dues ex machina could asura-tech some anti-spectral agony power from some research notes she found in the trash bin, and how the UNSEEN are now easily seen by everyone and like to make grand entrances. So yeah.
Now about what Lazarus is after? Clearly he’s not here to help kill dragons. Why bother if he can just leave?
I think it’s likely he wants his revenge. Now, you say, against whom? Well the white mantle, the people he swore to get revenge on.

The only way to Ascend would be to find a repeatable trial – such as the Weh no Su trials (which, yes, Closer to the Stars = Ascension).
In other words, the only known way to Ascend in GW2’s time is via the guide and gaze of the Celestials, since the gods (who were the ones who’s attention Ascended folks in Prophecies) are gone.
Even if somehow the player character were to find some Canthans able to administer the trials to become Weh no Su, that still wouldn’t stop any Mursaat or their constructs from Spectral Agony’ing everyone to death.
I feel like Anet will just do what they always do and go with ‘Priory has knowledge of it’ and ‘Asuran tech will fix it.’
With all the talk of the War in Kryta something is confusing me. On the wiki it lists Evennia as having been seen last in Old Ascalon during the War in Kryta. But my understanding is that Old Ascalon ceased to exist after the Searing. Or is it referring to Old Ascalon as the time before the Foefire. If not, this seems like a glaring plot hole. Could someone clarify this for me?
As others have said, “Old Ascalon” was a zone in post-Searing Ascalon. Every last Ascalonian did not either die in the Searing or pick up and move off to Kryta.
@narwhalsbend: Keep in mind that GW1 was instanced. Every single zone was an instanced zone, altered based on the furthest progression of any party member, ever since, well, technically ever if you count quests but since Nightfall otherwise.
Yes, I know, but it would just be another copy of the map overlaid in the same place, talk to some NPC to switch back and forth. That sort of thing.
I’m sure there is a technical reason for this, but why can’t they just do what they did for WoC and have a simple switch that one can flip to go between different versions of the same map?
What I mean is, in WoC you could switch between normal enemies and WoC enemies just by taking or removing a quest.
A similar thing could be done here, right?
I bound “swim down” to x in my first week playing the game. The one thing I don’t like about it is that it feels slower than pointing the camera down and moving forwards.
This. I have swim down and swim up separately bound and maneuvering in water is rather easy now.
What were they again? I think human females still do the hair brush right?
Oh man, I guess we gotta all pull old enemies together to face an even greater threat that we can’t defeat alone, huh?
Too bad Anet won’t go back to GW1. I’d like mroe GW:B.
For PvE? Just press 1-5 on your keyboard until the enemy is dead.
It’s cool that the Alpine BL is coming back. I haven’t been to the BL since they released this one… What they really need to do is make a third BL and assign one to each team in WvW, sort of like how EotM is set up.
For some reason we got more content in the bi-weekly updates back in the old days than we get now in three month intervalls.
Seriously, what the heck are you doing with all those employees and all the time over there at ANet wonderland?
Gem store.
An elder dragon will attack something, we have to get all the races to work together to beat it, then we press 2 to kill dragon.
Just play the game. Watching the videos will just ruin the twists in the storyline for you.
I would if they promised to continue GW:B, but that’s not going to happen, so I’ll wait to see how it is first.
I would say that there will never be mounts in GW2, but Anet added raids, so any dumb unwanted addition is possible.
I just realized you meant a fanfic set in current time.
I would go with the Undead Lich.

There’s a lot of things in Tyria with the word “Lion” in the title, and there is even a statue of a lion still left in Lion’s arch. However, I have yet to see a lion roaming around anywhere. Do they exist in Tyria? If so, where are they native to? Or are they considered some kind of mythical creature?
Edit: Even the GW2 wiki didn’t have anything to say on the subject.
They’re native to Elona.
+1 for more underwater combat
So I don’t plan to get the expansion at least not yet, Am i correct in understranding i can still play the new wvw map?
also i have All exotic gear can anyone refer me to a guide on how to upgrade to pink? and what is still going on without expansion? im guessing all the groups go to expansion zones
You can play the new WvW borderlands.
Check the wiki for Ascended armor.
The expansion exists, I don’t know exactly what you mean.
So many good times. I still play GW1.
As a reminder to folks, ANet was rather upfront about Heart of Thorns being on the light side of content due to being so focused on setting up systems for the future.
Now, however, those systems are in place. The next expansion won’t have to devote nearly the resources to those and will most likely be delivering significantly more content as a result.
I don’t recall this. Got a source?
I don’t look at others as often as I do, but I love getting complements on my characters!
Relax, Aidan. I’m not perfect, but that wasn’t a flub. Colin did make the statement, so I was just repeating the core message that he shared.
When is the first sale for HoT?
I know you can’t tell me but I’m still waiting for it.
For the love of god……….
please not another dragon.
In GW1 they didn’t need a single dragon to have an awesome game.
Arena Net should go back to the roots. But i already make a prediction here for the case it is a dragon:
-Different groups will be informed of a dangerous dragon
- The groups don’t work together.
- you make them work together.
-Defeat of Dragon
……….. rinse and repeat for the next dragon
Completely agree with this. Except that Glint, Kuunavang, and Rotscale were awesome dragons.
Plot twist: Scarlet hatches from the egg and destroys LA
I can see it happening.
waaaaaah mountsss!
No. Also, many NPCs have mounts.
I don’t want to play a GW1 trash mob race. What’s next, playable centaurs? Grawl?
I’m usually one to say no to all dumb ideas, but I can’t see any harm in a personal instanced house.
