I am a fanatic of Guild Wars with over 1000 hours in it. I still play it espeacily Prophesis.
And as such i naturally want the iconic areas from Guild Wars to be ascesible in gw2.
I want the Fire Island Chain (which should become bigger, since the sea level fell with the raise of big flying Z.), Crystall desert (which is where big flying K. is hiding if I remember corectly, also Palawa Joko is near there) and the area around the EotN (where big flying J. is).
The question is: do you REALLY want Anet to re-open these areas?
They have done nothing at all with the current area that we can explore but destroy any relation to the past. For all we know, the Crystal Desert may now be the Crystal Gem Store Shopping Mall.
Why don’t they re-open the first years’ Halloween stuff, minus the exclusive items? Don’t say it’s for the sake of story consistency, because as it is now Prince Thorn doee the same thing every year as it is.
It would be nice if polymock ever was finished, but you know it’ll just be: "NEW polymock piece in the GEM STORE now! Only 800 gems!
edit: About the Historian/scribe. Back then those books and scrolls would have to be hand-copied. So it’s not like it could spread news fast by writing. And again, translation errors/damage to scrolls/mistakes while copying it.
A copy of the Ascalon census managed to survive the Searing and two years of abandonment in the rubble perfectly intact. I don’t know how a well maintained scroll could get damaged to easily when copying.
I killed Shiro in Factions. Why are there still Afflicted in Kaineng City? Because MMO (or quasi-MMO).
There’s aren’t afflicted if you change to WoC mode.
What about the Lunatic Court stuff that came out after WoC? I think that was after anyway.
It was in between War in Kryta and Winds of Change. There was supposed to be more, but they disbanded before that.
Or well, War in Kryta (2010) —- Lunatic (Halloween) (2010) —- Hearts of the North (2010) —- Winds of Change (2011).
Was that really five years ago? Wow.
The last acts of the PC in GW1 were Winds of Change
What about the Lunatic Court stuff that came out after WoC? I think that was after anyway.
I’m SOOO close to GWAMM and 50/50, but I just don’t have the time or patience to grind out titles and farm items/platinum.
Well with the disappointment of last year, I’d guess a 20-lvl scroll that won’t stack with the others, a bag of spririt shards, and a mini Jennah.
8GB RAM max, i5 would be just fine, and that GPU is way overkill.
If you’re going to college, get a small and light laptop that you can take around to classes. You’re going to find that you end up not carrying that 20lb brick everywhere after all because it’s just so bulky and heavy.
Most newer laptops should handle GW2 at decent quality with the integrated graphics, and you could always look to see if there’s a laptop you like that doesn’t have the top-of-the-line cards.

He looks like some anime stereotype – angry long haired dude in trenchcoat with swords and crazy powers.
I’m glad that GW2 moved away from asian style.
Only Factions was in “asian style” so I wouldn’t say Anet was any more “asian style” than they were “african style” when they released Nightfall.
But Shiro was interesting. He lore-wise killed the player character (and the entire party) with ease. Fortunately, Shiro won’t be able to pass this ability on to Revenants.

Skills are disappointing, yes, but you just have to accept it’s a different game.
I. LOVE. UNDERWATER. COMBAT!
I was devastated when they yelped it from pvp and greatly diminished it in wvw, but I main ranger. And ranger spear= gs, and I can have a pet shark….
I love underwater too, but rangers are near unkillable underwater, so of course you love it.
I have up and down bound to L-ALT and Space and I have few issues with underwater combat. In fact, I wish there were more.
All these people saying Primordus is and/or is part of the island apparently never played GW1, where we stared him right in the face deep under the Shiverpeaks.
That is already there, it is called WvW
It’s not.
If you imagine “your party” being 20 people instead of 5 people, that’s exactly what it is.
There’s a portal to one in LA. It’s labeled “Eternal Battlegrounds”.
I would say there are no known limits on teleportation as it’s never really explored. The only reason WE can’t blink further/over gaps is game mechanics.
I’m sure this has been said a few times already, but there was no mass migration of Canthans nor Elonians, so don’t expect to see tons of them around.
The only other major group of humans in Tyria are Ascalonians, which have the Ascalon Settlement, Rurikton, and a direct connection in DR to Ebonhawke. It’s really not surprising to see the more fair-skinned Ascalonians more than Elonians or Canthans.
The biggest contributor to what people are complaining about is that they are few unique models for random NPCs. Run around DR for a little while and you’ll see the same exact people around every corner. You would expect that the majority of Shining Blade would have more tanned skin, but if you run around the Queen’s throne room you’ll see ever Shining Blade there is one of two models depending on gender. Discounting random NPCs, character models are fairly accurate, e.g. Jennah actually looks Krytan.
I can see Anet seriously doing this. I mean, just look at the wings they just released….
I can see the buff right there in your screenshot. What is this deception?!
I saw it myself just after posting. Oh well, I was just trying to bring some levity to the thread anyway.
While reading this thread, please stop to enjoy this screenshot of a female tourist without any clothes on flirting with my female character instead of giving me the speed boost she is advertising above her head.
This post is a joke. Also, I just saw that I already had it on my bar already. Oops.

Which possibly points towards the Exalted being armoured djinn as has been previously theorised, but we’ll see when we get to them.
It makes no sense to have djinn outside Elona. They are bound to the places which they inhabit, all of which are in Elona. Also, there were no naturally occurring djinn in the same area of GW1.
Oh my gods! It just dawned to me, they are going to marry Kasmeer and Marjory there! And I’m going to be the best man!
Paragon Marjory confirmed.
There actually was a suicide skill for necros in GW1. Unfortunately, they reduced it to only 50% health in 2009.
I just hope they release a single player version before they shut down the servers for good.
I vote Largos.
Tengu are acceptable too I guess, but I personally wouldn’t lay them.
I’m still confused. Can you explain these:
If the Enchanted are just servants/constructs of the forgotten, how can they be exalted?
In the 1st HoT trailer we see that these ruins aren’t actually golden/gilded, the exalted thing casted some spell and turned it gold.
The Hall of Ascension/Hall of Heroes isn’t just golden/gilded. There was a lot of blue and grey as well as green.
The Enchanted don’t levitate or glow.
Enchanted weren’t spellcasters.
Tendril things coming out the back.
Is there an ingame source that says the Enchanted mimicked the mursaat? I haven’t been able to find any. All I’ve found is a wiki page that says there’s a resemblance without citing a source (other than mursaat and enchanted having no relation) so it’s just the editor’s opinion. Then there’s the note about the Tower Golem.
But other than the horn feature they share on their helms (and even those aren’t the same), all three look nothing alike.“we have some really cool plans for the Mursaat but unfortunately I was told to tell you guys that you’ll have to wait until GW2 to find them” – Linsey Murdock, October 2007
source: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User_talk:Linsey_Murdock/Lore1#Asura_and_MursaatThe official HoT trailer showed three Exalted Ones with obvious colour variation. So surely the gold glow of the Rock Dog should be completely unrelated? Not to mention Rock Dogs have no relation to enchanted/forgotten/mursaat/golden cities.
That quote was eight years ago.
I didn’t see any mursaat in the trailer. I saw some unknown beings.

I’ll just throw my opinion into the mix here and say that I’m disappointed to see Anet continuing to pander to “potential new players” and giving their actual extant userbase the shaft.
Anet has never given away the game for free. The game is not “free with HoT” it’s included in the price. I do not want to have to pay for a game I already own.
God this is frustrating ….
I bought GW1 specifically to get gw2 skins and now this. aaaaargh!
You should have bought it for the excellent gameplay and superior story instead.
Activating skills will occasionally trigger in-game dialogue from the legends, and the player character will sometimes respond with race-specific dialogue of their own. Depending on the legend your revenant has summoned between fights, you may also hear some small talk out of combat. You’re free to imagine the extent of conversation between your character and their legendary allies in any way you like: Do they beg Jalis for tales of his youth? Do they bicker with Mallyx about the nature of power?
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/hidden-arcana-role-playing-the-revenant/
Even if they do not manifest in the real world fully, I still imagine that Shiro would try anything to be alive again, even without his magic Envoy spirit bubbles. If any given revenant can channel him, there will eventually be one that will take orders from him.
There’s a lot of talk in the HoT forum that Shiro was datamined to be a legend available to the Revenant.
Wasn’t he supposed to be imprisoned in the Realm of Torment? With Kormir (presumably) in charge, why is she just letting him pop in and out of the mortal world? What’s stopping him from convincing a young hero to help him become mortal AGAIN?
Does anyone else see how this could be a bad idea?

The skills is powerful enough while on land, but it’s fairly easy to counter if you just stomp your enemy.
Underwater, where there is no stomp, this skill is the strongest in the game. In a 1v1 or maybe even more this is a guaranteed revive since it’s so difficult to kill the pet before it completely revives it’s owner.
Thoughts?
Historically, we’re approaching the time of the Bazaar of the Four Winds, where we trade in a ton of trash items to get something hopefully better. That trash used to be candy corn. Right now, tiny snowflakes are the ridiculously oversupplied commodities. So I expect a bunch of players are making a bet on whether or not the Bazaar returns this year, which is looking increasingly good with Lions Arch finally getting back on its feet.
Except the bazaar was on the zephyrite ships which are currently burning in Dry Top.
That might be an historic moment, the first time anyone ever actually praised the Zhaitan fight. Truly a moment to behold.
This. First time I’ve ever seen it for sure. Hopefully they fix it up well when they release the new version. Even Abaddon was a better fight than Zhaitan.
I really like underwater stuff. It’s a shame people don’t care.
I like the idea as well, as for the execution…
Apart from the points mentioned in the OP, one big problem is that you cannot solo most underwater stuff since you very easily get overwhelmed by multiple enemies attacking you at the same time. But since few people care about underwater you will seldom find the necessary allies and so even people who would like to do more underwater in the end give up.You can solo underwater stuff as much as you can solo an ground stuff. The problem is that people refuse to play underwater stuff so any group events/bosses always fail.
I really like underwater stuff. It’s a shame people don’t care.
its there to stop exploiters. why do you want to exploit?
Just to play devil’s advocate, what is there to exploit exactly? The only thing beyond the maps is endless sea. If Blink isn’t allowed to hop small gaps, why are we allowed to use Leap skills for the same purpose?
EDIT: Also, shadow stepping and necrotic traversal were easy to abuse to get out of maps in GW1, yet it was never restricted. As I mentioned before, there’s nothing outside the maps anyway.

What “dual nature of the revenant”?
Because they can switch between two legends? Most other professions can switch between two weapons too.
If any profession were to exemplify “duality” it would be the mesmer, with their connection to Lyssa and phantasmal skills.
No, you should just learn to keep your miscellaneous items in your inventory where it belong.
I don’t know if this counts as awe… but it’s definitely bleak in an endearing way
How did you get your game to look so good?
Microsoft is calling their new browser in Win 10 Edge so the icon will still be a stylized “E”. Why? Because too many people have been taught to double click the “E” to get to the Internet.
Seriously? That’s funny.
Why are they giving up the “Internet Explorer” name?
I personally enjoy jumping puzzles, occasional difficulties included. In a game where everything dies just because you looked at it, it’s nice to have a bit of difficulty somewhere.
If you encounter in game mail with the link below, be careful. It is a scam that will make you lose access to your account.
What was the clue? The “sjs9-3sv4.pw” domain?
Now the minority who actually want mounts are trying to turn the thread.
This is something that the team is still working on, and it has not been back-burnered. We’re sorry for the time that it’s taken to correct this, but as mentioned previously, we want to ensure we do it right so we’re taking the time to research every aspect of the fix.
I appreciate that Anet is not taking the easy way out with this and just letting them keep their ill-gained rewards.
…We all know how hard Djinn bosses were in GW1…especially if they were fire attuned.
Ok everyone..ZERG!
Zomorros casts Searing Flames.
Ok everyone, that was a fail, see you in 2 hours.
Everyone switches to ?/Me and takes Mantra of Flame. One ranger takes Winter.
No problem at all.
I don’t like the flashy weapons anyway. My warrior is rocking the Wooden Sword!
I was also a bit appalled that the transformations just weren’t a thing anymore. They’re no better than big humans honestly. I don’t think I’ve EVER seen an NPC do it, whereas it was always the firs thing they did in GW1. They don’t even feel like Norn.
