I would pay for more GW1 content.
Factions was good, except for making the bonus of almost every mission just “do it faster now, k?” and that Kaineng was impossible to navigate, not even to mention that ever two steps was a gang popup.
Hates humans ?
Wants mounts ?
WoW is that way, OP —>
Despite the many Charr running around cities in GW2, it’s important to remember that they are really the bad guys and must be stopped before they bring more detruction to Tyria. They destroyed Ascalon with the Searing, turning the land to ash and tar, they marched on Orr, causing Vizier Khilbron to accidentally sink it trying to stop them, and they also marched on Kryta, causing a cult to be put into power of the royal family, which caused the deaths of many Krytans by the Mursaat and lead to a large civil war. Make no mistake, the Charr are evil and out to exterminate humans.
You could just play the game. It’s really cheap now and still very fun.
The Hero Challenges need the timer removed in addition to being adjusted..
I appreciate that the new hero challenges are more difficult than previous ones, even if most of the time it’s just because the enemies are champions rather than veterans, but putting a timer on the event is ridiculously stupid. It’s hard enough to kill the champion by myself, but now I have to do it in FOUR MINUTES? I’m not such an invincible dps machine that i can kill a champ and his lackeys that swiftly and I like to run alone. The timer forces me to beg in map chat for someone to help me or wait forever for more people to show up on their own.
Please, remove the timer. I thought you learned it was a bad idea to slap timers on everything for artifical difficulty after Factions.
EDIT: This was supposed to be for HoT section of forum.
Congratulations on releasing the first expansion to GW2, Anet!
Now is the perfect time to shake off your dusty veteran developers and continue where you left off in Guild Wars: Beyond!
What happened to Evennia? Who is the Nameless Lich? What of the Lunatic Court?
How did Palawa Joko regain power?
How did the Ebon vanguard reach Ascalon and found Ebonhawke?
This and more was left incomplete in favor of putting the finishing touches on GW2. It’s about time you go back and finish what you started, Anet!
Now, I know you won’t do anything if it won’t make you money, but consider that there are many GW1 players who still play, many other who would happily go back to play new content, and many GW2 players who would probably enjoy seeing the origins of the game they play every day!
I know it’s a long shot, but maybe consider it. The decade weapons were awesome, and I’d love to see more!
Players: We want more references to GW1 lore!
Anet: Just kitten their lore up EDIT: *further.
Necromancy and undeath used on a sentient being is considered a big no no.
Tell that to my GW1 necro. I love tearing apart the dead bodies of sentient beings for minion material, exploding corpses, and let’s not forget the skill “Consume Corpse”.
I like how the FDS is now, thank you.
Anyone else feeling nogstalgia for GW1?
I don’t need to since I still play it.
What happened to throwing turrets? Why did they remove that?
Getting 30 HoM points should be easy, but getting all 50 would be significantly more difficult.
I want them for dungeons. That’s about it.
I’m enjoying my Grog in GW1 this week.
As everyone else has said, GW1 is a fantastic game as long as you understand that it is different from GW2.
It’s true that there are less people than there used to be playing, but you can just join a guild if you need help.
I don’t know about GW2, but in GW1 Shiro’ken warriors/assassins and beetles.
When a god is killed the amount of energy released is incredible. Kormir was given a “gift” from the gods that allowed her to absorb the power of abadon.
On another note (please correct me if I’m wrong here) I think Kormir was actually dead and it was her sprit that follows us in the realm of torment.
She survived Gandara, we rescue her, then Abaddon pulls her into the RoT while she is still alive. So she’s still alive.
So im back, I’ve been looking for pathways between Elona and Tyria via the domain of anguish, and I’ve found it. The gate of anguish has a portal leading directly to the Chantry of secrets in Elona. https://i.gyazo.com/bd4f71c4c99780f0b51a398c5c3f1556.jpg
The explorable area accessible from the gate of anguish is the foundry of failed creations. Within the foundry of failed creations is the door of Komalie, we know from the original guild wars campaign that the door of Komalie exits at the ring of fire islands. It is reasonable to assume that this is the order’s means of transit between Elona and Tyria. https://i.gyazo.com/125f4ce6dd17e1fe406072c8614ec798.png
You only get to the Gate of Anguish through Kormir. The gate in the outpost itself is probably more tied to Kormir than being a physical gate.
It’ll probably be something like Urgoz’s Warren and The Deep.
No, in fact I’d pay another $60 for new content in GW1.
Well I guess I better sell all my mats before theyre worthless.
I found some lore on Mesmers casting illusionary spells, from Angel McCoy in an interview she did. Here is the link if anyone wants to read it in general. Ill post below, the response from Angel. http://esprits-dorr.fr/node/261
Esprits d’Orr : Are the illusions created by mesmers visible to anybody or only to the caster and the spell target ?
Angel McCoy : This depends. Casting an illusion that can only be seen by one person is an extremely advanced skill as it requires getting directly into an individual’s mind. Only the most skilled of mesmers can do this, and mesmers don’t talk about this ability. If people were to find out that mesmers could do this, it would prejudice people against mesmers and damage the trust and love mesmers work so hard to inspire in others.
No documentation of this ability exists outside the Mesmer community because the targets of this kind of spell don’t realize they’ve been duped. No one else can corroborate their experience either, so…it’s often explained away as battle fatigue. Even within the mesmer community, knowledge of this kind of spell is “need to know” only, which means only the most elder and experienced are initiated into the circle.
I wouldn’t take this too seriously. Even something so pathetic as a Wind Rider could cast Conjure Phantasm in GW1, a skill which only affect the target.
With the rumors of GW2 going F2P, what can we expect to get as people who bought the game?
NEW Veteran Appreciation Pack in the Gem Store™! You can get 20 transmutation Charges, 5 BL Keys, 2 Random Dyes, and 3 Loot Bags (containing blue weapons and trash) for only 1200 Gems! IN STORE NOW!
If you played GW1, you would know that W/E “Hamstorm” builds were “a deadly combination.” They probably just decided to do it again in GW2 since it worked so well the first time.
I just felt like deleting them all to restart since I started all of the characters when I was like 12 years old and now 8 years later I feel like a fresh start and do everything again. I love the game but the characters I created back then is not the choice I’d have made today.
I know that feeling.
I can’t even imagine how impossible it would be to play GW1 on a tiny toughscreen.
That Gw3 comes out in 2016.
xD
If they state that the future is going to be GW3 – I am done…
If they announce that GW3 is the future and they’re going back to how GW1 was done, I’m emptying out my bank account.
…somehow working in that Abaddon is behind the release of the Elder Dragons and that Abaddon secretly possessed Kormir and is only appearing like Kormir just to convince the other gods that he is truly dead.
That would be terrible writing, but I could see them doing that after all this Scarlet stuff.
Really though, we didn’t just “kill” Abaddon, Kormir completely consumed his power. He is no more.
If any gods were looking to get back into the picture now that the main ones are hiding, it would be Menzies or Dhuum.
The only reason I could foresee that we would need to go back there is if we need to find a Seer.
Or if we need to get into the Realm of Torment for some reason, though I don’t know what we’d need to do there since all the demons are probably gone by now. Chat with some Forgotten maybe?
You may read my first post in this topic.
That would require Joko to fight all through whomever is occupying the Realm of Torment (the Forgotten and maybe some leftover demons?). It would be fairly easy for them to get in the same way we got in, but how would they get out? If the Door of Komalie could be opened from the inside, why did they wait for us to open it before sending titans through the first time?
Easy, AC to LA run or Beacon to Droks was way harder.
The only reason I could foresee that we would need to go back there is if we need to find a Seer.

I found this map online. It has the outlines of the map boundaries if you’re running it instead of doing the missions.
You’ll want to stop at Beacon’s Perch to be sure, then you’ll need to go through Griffon’s mouth, go north out of Scoundrel’s Rise, then all the way back down to Lions Arch.
If you need help with positioning yourself in relation to the GW2 map, look at the locations of Beetletun (where the Caudecus Manor dungeon is located), The Temple of the Ages (near where the Shadow Behemoth event is located) and the Divinity Coast mission icon (directly above it is Shaemoor, further north is what will be Divinity’s Reach).
Maybe try really early in the morning?
Or ask your friends to change server so you can play together.
I’d start with prophecies. Pre searing Ascalon is amazing, its my favourite place in GW1, Next to The Eye of the North, and you can only see it by starting a character in prophecies.
Yes, do Prophecies first. You’ll get the true Guild Wars experience and feel the need to delete all your charr characters when you come back to GW2.
so i really want this sword and i know i have to play gw1 to get it but the question is, whats the minimum i have to do in gw1 to obtain 10 Hall of monuments in gw2?
has anyone done this just for the sword? and what did you do in overall?
You should play GW1 for the enjoyment instead because it’s a fun game.
I would like to unlock HoM rewards that’s why decided to buy GW1. Here is my question: What exactly do I need to buy and how much does it take to get those 30 points? Maybe some tips, guide. Thank you in advance.
You should play GW1 for the enjoyment instead. It’s a great game.
[Class Suggestion] The Stage-Illusionist
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

You could just wait 4 months.
I think GW2 would benefit greatly for spell/ability skins that you can purchase.
I’m sure there are some players (For some reason) that would prefer a different Mesmer color. Make it so it is Blue dragonfly’s, or white doves.
Necromancer needs some pet skins imo. Seems more like a Lovecraftian class more than Necro. Bone minions be frail looking skeletons, Bone Fiend an archer, Shadow Fiend a wraith, Flesh Golem as a armored death knight.
To begin with, this is bad for PvP as I’m sure someone has mentioned already.
In GW1 your profession has a color theme, which was especially important due to mixing profession skills, and has stuck around in GW2. Mesmers are purple. This is why mesmer affects are purple.
In regard to necro minions, in GW1 they were created by reanimating dead bodies, which makes sense. In GW2 they decided to kitten any kind of actual skill and just make them summonable from seemingly nothing. It doesn’t make sense for minions to be made out of anything except the flesh of what you just killed, but since they decided to throw that out the windows for GW2, who knows.
I thought this was going to be about LA in GW1, now I loved that place. Would be cool to see that place in GW2 in a fractal or something.
They could always do the Battle of LA in a fractal, but that means they’d have to make models for mursaat, jade constructs, white mantle, and pretty much every NPC since the neo-Krytans all look like Ascalonians.
2.4 pounds for a longsword as it says on wikipedia. Greatswords in the game are much bigger than that.
Regardless, female human mesmers do use magic to wield it. Just watch the animation sometime; the only time the sword is physically held is while not attacking.
I believe gw1 saved the templates locally and not on anet servers.. ?
That is how it worked. I had to swap over my templates when I got my new computer.
Disagree about what? Sepia-tone? Perhaps, your post-processing needs adjusting.
Good luck.
I saw it too. The colors are noticeably less than what I remember.
Aside that one positive feedback, does anybody else thinks this would be a nice addition?
Thanks
Of course it would be a nice addition, but Anet doesn’t add anything to the game unless they can charge 800 gems for it in the gem store.
Is it possible to place some Lion’s Arch banners around LA? The only banners in the city are Krytan ones. Although Anet has said the banners are paying tribute to king Doric. It feels odd that Lion’s Arch would have flags of a country that repeatedly went to war with them and still have some animosity between the two sides. The Order of Whispers supports Queen Jennah because she is one of the few Krytan monarchs who supports Lion’s Arch.
The other is to bring back the Lion fountain and statue. It was a symbol of the city and in the rebuilt Lion’s Arch there is no lion imagery. Besides how else is the Mad King make his entrance other then breaking through the Lion fountain in Lion’s Arch.
Where is it said that there was a war between Kryta and LA?
I would love if they re-made some GW1 content for GW2, but there’s no much good stuff it’d be impossible to choose.
Ascalon Academy, Hell’s Precipice, Unwaking Waters, Imperial Sanctum, Consulate Docks, Ruins of Morah… They would all make excellent fractals. There’s just too much to choose from.
I wish we could get baby-siege-turtles and mini-juggernauts as Ranger Pets… I loved those guys in factions. Or what about Worms? I think that underground-travel would be interesting, or it could be semi-stationary (stationary in battle), using long range attacks and heal in a radius (iirc there were some worms in the Jungle which did excactly that in GW1).
Baby Siege Turtles are very defenseless. We had a whole mission to keep them safe from harm.
Juggernauts aren’t animals. They are literally humans turned into tree-like creatures.
Junundu move by diving underneath the sand. I doubt they would work well anywhere else.
