Lemme guess…. Sword/Sword + Shiro legend.
I’d prefer Scythe/Spear Varesh legend.
I dunno, i did PvE in GW1 for 7 years, and didn’t get bored, in the 2 1/2 years GW2 has been out and ive spent about 45mins in game in the last month, its so bad that if my dailies take longer than 5 mins to do, i just don’t bother, the game in its current format is in a poor state,
I agree. GW1 was so much better in this regard. GW2 is far too casual and nothing can be replayed.
LS2 is good. Characters slots are always useful if you like alts (or just to use as storage). Copper-Fed Salvage is actually way more useful than I was expecting it to be.
It only matters for WvW.
Siege Devourers and Junundu are just very limited transformations. I would NOT call them “mounts”.
Also please stop making “PLZ GIB MOUNTS” threads. It’s never going to happen.
I’m not a fan of limiting free speech, but can we just ban the word “mount” already?
It never occurred to me that mesmers could dabble in entertainment (assuming some sort of role as a jester of sorts). Suddenly the harlequin masks make a lot more sense.
For people that played GW1 this is no revelation considering the first mesmer we meet has her own stage just outside Ascalon City. There’s also the emphasis on masks and stylish clothing.
In GW1 mesmers were also quite often actors, and I even feel like they’d be inclined towards music, although I’ve no solid examples there.
Gwen liked playing her flute. Is that too far of a stretch?

First thought that came to mind… Beast from “Beauty and the Beast”. He is definitely a Charr Mesmer!
Nah, when I think of “charr mesmer” I think of mostly naked charr standing up on his rear legs forcefully waving a wand around and throwing purple blobs at me.
Yeah, the emperor’s paranoia and obsession with “purity” drove all the non-humans out of Cantha. I think if the Tengu get introduced as a race it’ll be from the Dominion of Winds.
I’m sure Konig will point it out if I’m wrong, but I believe the Ministry of Purity was mostly separate from the Emperor. I just re-played WoC recently and I recall them saying how the Ministry of Purity had surpassed the power of the Imperial Guards AND had the support of the people, meaning that they in effect controlled the Empire.
I wouldn’t mind small-breasted humans. I like the Sylvari females where they can be really skinny and have very little else going.
Originally, Mordrem Wolves gave retaliation.
But this was apparently “too tough” and it got nerfed to swiftness. Too tough to bring boon removal or heal through retaliation.
Vile Thrashers were also invulnerable if hit in front of them while they spun. But this was changed too. Guess that was “too tough”. Too tough to position yourself behind them as they spin towards you.
And now they claim to be bringing out challenging content? Right, how long until that gets nerfed because it’s “too tough”?
I agree completely.
Weren’t mini’s used for polymock? I can’t remember :-/
They were polymock pieces, not minis. You got them for beating Polymock players and some rare ones from dungeon drops.
There were plans to open the Polymock arena before GW2 launched, not to mention many other activities. However, they feel that adding three new minis and an outfit a week to the gem store is a better use of their time. You can always open GW1 and play polymock there I guess.
I haven’t heard about any complaints about Magic Carpet and Sonic Dredge tool. Players will tolerate mounts even if they said they wouldn’t.
You haven’t been looking hard enough. Also, we can’t stop Anet from pushing crap out on the gem store.
There will never be mounts. Stop suggesting it.
You’re missing more than you realize probably.
It’s nothing to worry about though, as it’s mostly inconsequential to GW2.
For example, every time I port to go to Champ Golem World Boss in Mount Maelstrom, I always notice the old Port Sledge bridge sunk into the mud.

This needs to be a thing.
Elixir X: Tornado
Additional button: CHOMP
Effect: Adds sharks to your tornado which apply an aoe bleed to enemies. While you’re at it you could turn the Rampaging brute green and give it a SMASH button. Would there be copyright issues? Possibly. Would it be hilarious and awesome? Absolutely!
Just thought I’d mention this small wish since y’all are currently in the process of changing everything around for the expansion.
The original Guild Wars was filled with pop culture, but there’s hardly any in GW2 aside from some carry-over stuff like “For Great Justice!”
I Was curious to how classes play in the end, i mean i dont really care for what is and isnt overpowered as buffs/nerfs come and pass all the time, i’ve never seen a MMO Where u can start a class and it’ll be At the same power forever, generally it moves about.
As far as i have read, Rangers and Warriors are said to be the easiest classes (although some argue that they arnt, every class has easy and hard Playstyles)
is there any truth to this? or is it simply they have Easier playstyles offered to them with just as many more difficult playstyles they can play to excel at the class, do these sort of conversations apply to pvp? or are those speculations PvE Orintated?..
What are the skill curves to each class like? are they massively different for each class, or are classes all simular in difficulty to play properly?
To begin with, there are only three “classes”: Light, Medium, and Heavy. The word you want is “profession.”
As for the content of your question, guardian is generally thought of as a good starter character as it’s a heavy armor with a lot of healing and support. Like the ranger and warrior, you can always equip a weapon like the greatsword and just button smash with it too. Any profession would be easy to play, but some have better rewards for learning the mechanics well, like elementalist for example.
Ah, I guess I have to progress through EotN to unlock these http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Monumental_Tapestry ?
ThanksYou can share them between characters. Just run 3 more characters to the eye and boom 4 tapestries.
You can also buy them from others. Just go to Kamadan and buy some. They’re pretty cheap if you buy from the right person.
Darker nights shouldn’t be an issue – Simply implement a “lamp slot”.
The lamp would be connected to the belt (Think Zelda: A Link between worlds) and could be toggled to create an illuminated Area around your character. That way you can always turn it on whenever you need light.
Also you can add skins to customize the look (=Profit) if you want to please the masses.
There’s no argument against that idea actually. It pleases both fronts (“we want darkness”/“we won’t”) and it’s already doable ingame (Using a flamethrower/balth backpiece/whatever).
Who needs lamp? My dual FDS light up all the darkness for me just fine. I laugh at Weyandt every time he mocks be because he turned the light off. I can still see all the rocks.
GW1 had that.
You could make up to 4 weapon sets, and when out of combat you could just click on it and that set would be equipped.
This. They haven’t really cared much for the player experience in GW2.
Another thread wishing for actual darkness? Sign me up.j
I would like to do WvW more, but there’s hardly ever anyone on my server anymore.
Was it named that before she was introduced as a character?
I find the WASDQE controls to work just fine.
I also dislike cartoony models, but it’s probably hard to make it look like a real tree frog and not look cartoony.
What are those line son the ground?
Definitely. I wish they would just remove underwater combat from the game, remove the enemies from underwater and just make those environments exploration-only. It would be no loss for the game, it would save work for ArenaNet since they would remove skills that aren’t fun using anyway, and they wouldn’t have to worry about underwater skills for the Revenant at all.
I wish Anet would just remove everything this guy likes, remove all his gold and just make his account view-only. It would be no loss for the game, it would save me from having to reply every time someone says that everyone hates underwater combat, and they wouldn’t have to worry about pleasing underwater-haters.
Most proud of: My GWAMM title ( I went back, bought EOTN, and did basically the entire title in 2 months)
How? Even if you had all the platinum in the world and didn’t have a job, that’s crazy!
Morning all,
In a few hours give or take (installing GW2 as I write this) I’ll be one of a few newbies in game. I’m a veteran of WoW raiding being a healer and dps when needed. Just a question into which profession would be best to learn the game on for currently the elementalist and Guardian professions both seem appealing to myself any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers.
Don’t rush to level. Just explore the world. Guardian is a good first choice because you can just button smash your way to victory without really thinking.
Good point. Each legend has to have double the set of skills. Lol. Bet Anet regrets the underwater combat system now as much as we do?
Speak for yourself. Underwater is great.
If you remembers Orr before they toned it down you know that place was dense with undead. I think the devs did that so that players would always feel the threat of being overwhelmed by enemies. This is an old zombie troupe. Alone zombies are weak but the threat multiplies exponentially the more zombies are around. Zhaitan is the zombie king dragon so thematically the threat of being overwhelmed by undead makes a whole lot of sense. However the devs eventually culled the number of undead roaming the zone (for good reason) and some of the magic that was old Orr diminished.
I think dragon minions are special and they look great visually but something more should be added to them to reinforce that these guys belong to the most powerful beings on the planet. With that in mind here are my meager suggestions :
Risen: Rework the risen so that when they die maggots or wraiths emerge from the corps. Big enemies like abominations will be filled with more maggots and more intelligent minions like wizards are more likely to be harboring wraiths. My objective here is two-fold 1) the threat of being overwhelmed if you are not careful becomes real again and 2) thematically I want to give the impression that you are fighting the seen and the unseen. Have you really re-deaded all undead or is there something about to jump out right behind you?
Mordrem: When mordrem die they should nourish their surviving allies. This plays off their plant based nature. Nothing truly dies it’s just recycled. Nourishment could come in the form of regeneration, condition clears etc. but the feel I’m looking for is almost the opposite of the risen. Where you get overwhelmed by lesser enemies with the risen the last mordrem standing has been seriously buffed by its fallen allies and is very dangerous. It should make you think about the order you kill them. Do you really want to save that elite for last?
Icebrood – Something a little different here. Players actually can get a damage buff for defeating Icebrood. The more and the faster you defeat them the more likely you are to get the buff let’s call it dragons rage. Dragon’s rage has one very importation side effect; your allies become targetable. So you have to be very careful not to burn down your allies as you are taking down the Icebrood. The meta here becomes about trust. Can you trust your allies? Can you trust yourself?
I have some ideas about the braded and destroyers but they aren’t any good yet. Can anyone help?
I think this would be an excellent way to liven the minions up, but Anet mostly likes to make the game simpler rather than harder. Your Risen idea reminds me of the Titans from GW1, where there would be a warrior, then it dies and becomes a necro, then it dies and becomes two smaller warriors. It was easy to become overwhelmed if you weren’t careful.
We do not need mounts and we do not want mounts
Seconding this.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind a female-fitted version of the male outfit to use on one of my characters.
Thats actually one of the outfits im glad we got the male version of instead of the female. I do however wish we had more dresses available in the future, not a total rework of whats available.
I meant for human females.
This gorgeous dress for female humans/norns is a boys tux for female asuras/charrs. This was very dissapointing. Not the least bit femine nor different from male versions
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Noble_Count_Outfit
Considering it’s a gem outfit, anet shoud’ve put a little effort into this.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind a female-fitted version of the male outfit to use on one of my characters.
Belinda is the first necromancer we see using a greatsword.
Trahearne.
Does that really count though? Caladbolg functions as a bundle rather than a weapon.
Well the mesmer’s main attribute in GW1 was Fast Casting, so mesmers were the best profession to give the chronomancer. I would say it’s a natural extension of mesmer magic, just as Minister Reiko was the first mesmer known to use clones.
As for the skill icons, the ones on the wiki are re-used GW1 skills icons.
Xunlai?
Cantha confirmed.
What of Wade Samuelsson? Maybe Barradin or Adelbern had more than one child each?
Or perhaps it was just a bit of dialogue meant to increase player immersion into the daily lives of the citizens of Lion’s Arch?
Especially in the trying times that these NPCs have to live through, I’m sure the many human residents would like a chapel where they can peacefully pray to Dwayna for good health, Melandru for a good harvest, Grenth for the souls of those they’ve lost, Balthazar for courage, Lyssa for the inspiration to rebuild, and Kormir for the ability to body-block your allies— I mean a peaceful future.

As long as every time the player says "obelisk, " it comes out as “OBELISK.”
I think we should also just get a “complete all map completion” item while we’re at it. This way, we never have to do anything with our characters again!
I’ve played a lot of MMOs and gw2 has the worst leveling grind of them all imo.
I have 3 lvl 80s and that last 80 was such a kitten drag I almost gave up on it.
It’s so kitten boring. I would literally pay for instant 80, and I hated that feature in WoW.
Let me guess, you stood in Queensdale and slaughtered thousands of centaurs to level?
Why don’t you explore and join in some events, you know, play the game it was meant to be played? I fyou really need to fast track your leveling for some reason, just go follow the collective in EotM.
I just have one human female, so by default she’s my prettiest.
What happened to her pants?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Polymock_Arenas
They were going to include Polymock, which is pretty much “minipet battles” but they never got to it.
That would be a lot of work for something that would be barely used, as having the camera as far as possible is best in most combat situations, as it allows better tactical maneuvers.
This. Even in Skyrim, I only do first person in tight dungeons, and positions matter much less in that game.
You should play GW1 for enjoyment, not for the bonuses.

Why wouldn’t they?
Because legendary weapons have absolutely nothing relating them to Elite Specializations.

Why would they? Skills have effects already anyway.
