The off hours players on dragonbrand have been the most loyal to that server for 4 years, the very thing people are coming in here to complain about the lack of in current bandwagon players. It’s not their fault the server keeps going up and down because NA guilds and players are so finicky. Dragonbrand has it’s community, much like JQ and SoS does with their off hours players since launch.

NA players mass ditching a server hmmm where have we seen that before, oh right, SoR, IoJ, EB, ET, CD, SBI, Mag, AR, Kain, DB multiple multiple times, SoS multiple times, HoD multiple times.

But hey, at least this is probably the last time it will happen to DB.

The problem with the map is the original concept with the idea that everything in there should be a choke point in order to break down the zergs, much like the alpine ruins were done to try and split groups up. But it doesn’t work.

The south towers were designed to be the quick passageway to the middle of the map which then would lead to quick routes to the north areas, which is why everything is so far from each other to try and make that middle area more valuable to access.

They added a clumsy pve event in the middle of the map to help put pressure on the defending team while adding more strength to gates and walls to counter. They added barricades and extra breakable walls incase people wanted to get through quickly without the tower, which was annoying for roamers and havoc but not so much zergs. So why take the tower then? well waypoints were added to give those south towers more value and a closer place for players to spawn from.

Now they’ve disabled the middle event, gates and walls were toned down, added a tunnel through the south wall, they took away barricades and the extra walls, moved the waypoints back to keeps and back to their original design, and now the south towers are left with no value because you can’t even siege keeps from there. The north towers never had any value other than seeing a different boss.

The only thing I see that could work is to borrow from ebg and put a castle in the middle area like another smc type building but not as big, it’s really the only middle concept that has worked, not the quaggan lake, not the ruins, not the giant cannon.

Then to make the towers useful again I’ll borrow from warhammer online, tie the castle to the 4 towers (increase their lord RI to 10-15mins), if you own 3 of the 4 you can attack it. The 3 keeps values are the waypoints. Add more ppt to the castle like smc, and a big fat chest of something and maybe even the bloodlust buff. Then every 3 hours after a cap it kills everyone inside and powers down back to neutral.

Lots of stuff they could do with that idea, but the towers need some value again.

EDIT: If they want to keep the middle cannon concept then take out the dino dropping power cell stuff and maybe tie the cannon to the towers instead to powering it up, that way you make players fight over those towers.

Well most of the gvg guilds will move out of wvw with the expansion because of guild hall arenas, no reason to be in wvw other than zerg busting. Smaller groups will remain in wvw, would they prefer the new eotm map coming or the older borderland map though?

As for twitch transmissions on a saturday….. anet doesn’t work on the weekends, as anything broken usually gets left until monday to be fixed. If you meant player run then sure go for it. Would be nice if anet ran the wvw buffs every few weeks like they do for the spvp tournaments.

Lastly anet wouldn’t know customer loyalty if a st. bernard came and slobbered over their faces. They don’t care about veteran players, that much is evident by some of the screw ups in the last year. They only hunt for new whales if you catch my drift.

They promised the Orbs would be back as well, never happened.

Do you have a source for that?
The patchnotes for the removal said
“Orbs or some similar mechanic may return in the future, but only if we’re confident that they won’t create similar issues.”
The posts from Devon Carver also all said pretty much the same thing.

2 years ago on this forum, WvW lead said it would come back. Lost the thread.

It did, as the ruins… for the same bloodlust buiff, which means they couldn’t counter the fly hacking.

Golem Rush Feedback Mega-Thread

Well it turned into one big k-train because people refuse to defend and upgrade. You can stop the train if you try but so many have just giving up even trying since the event started. Now for outnumbered servers well not much to do to stop it so they have it the worst out of everyone.

We had wp in our keep and a fully upgraded side in EBG yesterday because we didn’t give up just because of some event. Some are still out running around in golems but most have gotten over that and went back to actually trying to WvW.

Yeah well our ebg is the ktrain corner, we managed to upgrade garrison to get a waypoint, the enemy tried a few times to take it with alphas, they failed. Then they decided to bring a zerg and 10 omegas, no stopping that, hard enough to do that with a T3 keep and a regular sized force armed with disables, nevermind with overcharged golems. Then they proceeded to take their force a spin around the map, we took garrison back only for them to come back and break every wall and gate down in garrison and bay.

It turned into a ktrain not because of players but because of the stupid buffs.

Why is GW2 so Boring to Me?

The new level experience sucks, nothing can be done about that unless you have scrolls to skip levels. As for level 80 stuff, there’s a few areas to dabble in, but it’s up to you on if you like any of them to do them often.

Areas you can rerun every day:

New living story zones, silver wastes can be rewarding doing events, killing the bosses on the way to making the new glow armor, killing legendary bosses for new and probably the best titles in the game, working on events to the final boss area, followed by doing the chest train for 20 mins. Only grindy part might be the new armor, which I personally don’t care about the rest you can do at your own pace.

Dungeons, can be sped run for gold, mostly the same since launch. Fractals can be rewarding once you get to level 11 personal reward level for daily chests which can drop ascended stuff. More fun with friends.

World bosses, can be run daily, they’re on 15 min timers apart, they reward a lot of rares which can be turned into ectos. The bigger bosses such as tequatl and 3 wurms take more raid co-ordination and planning.

SPvP, is more rewarding than it use to be, you can run multiple tracks for different rewards such as dungeon armor and weapons, you also get to pick up mats and level tomes so you’re not totally out of the rest of the game. As with any pvp it’s much more fun with friends.

WvW/Eotm, my favorite part of the game. Eotm is a full blown karma/leveling train. For wvw having fun will depend on what you like to do. You can be different roles here, you can be a scout which involves reporting enemy movement, contested areas, recapping camps, tapping siege and hunting down roamers. You can be a roamer, going into enemy lands solo and becoming a problem for the enemy taking their camps killing their scouts. Havoc group taking towers and camps, maybe stealing a keep or two. Zerg fighting with 25+ people, busting down other zergs, taking anything in your way. Guild zerg busting or gvging other guilds in the open. Recommended to join the server community teamspeak for better co-ordination. Find a wvw guild to join, makes the experience in wvw 100% better. Speaking of experience you can earn wvw experience to level up masteries as well as earn rank up chests which have a chance at dropping ascended too(although very low).

Crafting to make ascended and legendaries, only mentioning these because of how long they take to make, these are grindy either with material or gold collecting, but they give you something to do for a long period of time.

Collections and achievement hunting are also long term goals to keep yourself busy.

My suggestion is to find the profession you want to play, the area you would like to do often, and find a guild for that similar area and see how it goes.

5. Q: Ascended items fill the time gap, but why does that mean they have to have better stats?
A: They know there are different ways to fill the time gap, and were expecting different opinions on whether stat rises were the right choice—so they aren’t surprised by all the anger right now. As a side note, they are counting on the slow release of Ascended gear to contribute to the feeling of it being a longer-term goal than exotics.

Talk about walking around the question, still didn’t answer why the stats had to be raised, just that they weren’t surprised by the anger. Slow release of ascended to contribute to the feeling of long term? it’s time released people don’t have a choice but to feel it’s long term lol, not like the legendary.

Same answer WoW just came up with with mist of pandaria, gate all the raids and equipment on time release so people play at the games pace and not their own pace. Congrats on learning from the best on how to extend your content I guess, why are they following wow and not sticking their their own design concepts.

What if we removed arrowcarts for a week?

Lots of the recent polls for improving the game mode have revolved around adding things e.g. hammers and cannons to the game. What if we tried removing some siege in an attempt to drive more personal interaction? The game mode centers on group combat around capture points and, as far as i can tell, towers bristling with arrowcarts promote a bunker mentality, slow the pace of the game and deter group fights.

And what happens when a group of 30 decides to take the tower with only 5 defenders around? suicide throw our bodies off the wall into the catapults? or maybe they could start spawning rocks on the ground for us to pick up, I would so stack a pile of rocks on the walls to throw at the catapults.

More often than not, siege used by the defensive side is because they have less numbers. Ac’s are used more defensively because in some areas it’s very difficult to setup siege to counter siege. So if you want to pull the one defense siege to do that you’ll need to pull catapults that can be placed on hidey walls out too.

If an opposing force wants to pull players out for a fight, all they need to do is build long range siege, eventually a wall will go down or the defenders will come out. There’s also more than one way into every structure.

Badge Farm Prices?

Why does everyone want everything to be easy? Work hard for it and you might actually enjoy the fact that when you have it you feel like you achieved something.

I have farmed atleast 1000 badges in a month of WvW. I’m still farming and don’t mind it at all, I don’t even want the set though…

Never fails, this is always the first reaction whenever someone questions the pricing of something. Not really a matter of wanting things easier, just that getting the same type of item in pve or pvp should be about equal in effort to get. You can get pvp stats on pve items so in most cases people get those instead, hell I farmed karma in pvp and got my set that way instead and still only have about 500 badges. You got 1000 badges, congrats to you, why don’t you want the set? oh maybe because you already got an exotic set from somewhere easier right? Good of you to prove his point.

1. This requires three new maps(bl, ebg, eotm), and it takes them about a year to make one new map, that’s about how much time they said they spent on eotm. They are certainly not going to waste the new map they haven’t even released yet, and the three they currently have.

2. Four server matchup will turn into a 3v1, not even T1 servers could handle that and you would probably see more players taking “breaks”. Sure it would be nice if the bottom four servers team up against the top server in the matchup, but that’s what they also expected for a three way matchup, and it always ends up with the top two beating on the third place server.

They said that like a year ago. It’s not that hard to implement. Since it doesn’t look like tournaments may be back, they could go the reward track route.

Can even have multiple tracks to do to get 4 ingredients and dump them into the mystic toilet to get the weapons or armor.

[POLL] Tear it Down. Population Balance

Do some of you believe that somehow servers would have been in a better position today without links? Let’s be perfectly honest here, all servers were dying at a faster rate after the expansion release than before. Guilds would have continued to move upwards in the ranks to get more activity. Communities would have died regardless, a merge instead of links would have definitely killed half the servers. The many changes from the expansion including combat has either drove off or reduced the playing time of a lot of players.

The problem here is, anet said that links were a quick easy solution to help with population bleed, but where’s the long term solution? It’s been almost a year, are they even working on a long term solution or are they just waiting for this to completely die? Anet has done next to nothing the past year to help promote wvw and try to get players into it, wvw has been dying a slow death from day one.

You can reset the system if you want, but if it exist as it does now, it does nothing to fix the problem as long as transfers exist.

F2P Accounts Conflicting WvW

So what happens they take out f2p accounts and some clown still pulls the emergency waypoint for no reason?

They already lock tactics to guild only pulls if you want, you all expect them to make up some complicated system of who can and who can’t pull the tactics next? F2p can’t touch it, lets have a running ban list of trolls who can’t touch it, make sure you only give access to that list to guild leaders, make sure those guild leaders have a level 40 guild, make sure they have a minimum 100 people in the guild, only pullable when there’s 50 people within a 50yard radius, the puller has to have 1000 hours of wvw and 1000 wvw ranks.

Hey how about they deal with it like they did with the supply troll issue, make the tactics automated, they only activate when 50 players are within the outer walls.

Eotm doesn’t have balance issues? Hmm coulda swore green was rampaging through there for a few months.

3) I’m confused, you say 3 maps no more, 1 of each that’s it, but then you will be going eotm way and spawning more if there’s a queue no? If you meant no 4th map, then well no point in saying 1 each… You’re going to have multiple instances of each one because wvw population size is still pretty big when you combine the servers.

You allow map hopping thus enabling teams to leave and creating unbalanced maps. Are you going to allow server/team switching too so that sides can be bandwagoned?

I assume no longer has weekly matches, cut down map times so people not going to care to defend much, you know, like eotm. Especially when a map will decide to close with as many as 30/80 still in there.

Not exactly addressing balance, you’re just giving maps a bigger pool of players to access it, instead of one server trying to fill 4 maps at a time. But having maps which may or may not close at whatever time depending on who’s left instead of the standard 4 hr eotm timer, will annoy players if the map shuffling becomes excessive.

This eotm idea has been brought up more than a dozen times already, a lot don’t want it. It could work if done properly, but not strictly the eotm way.

My question is why aren’t servers actively double teaming BG at this point?

I know BG population and coverage are hard to deal with, but morale is the biggest thing that affects servers. If players want to play for second or roll over and go do something else, there’s nothing Anet can do about that, that’s a player problem.

Other reason BG has massive numbers still is because their morale is high so all their pugs and hibernators are coming out to play, meanwhile the other two servers go in hiding because it’s the easiest way to deal with it for them… then run in here and blame anet.

70 man blobs can’t be everywhere, learn to deal with that. The two weaker servers need to stop hitting each other because it’s “easier”, use better map politics and learn to frustrate those blobs.

Concern: ArenaNet won’t stop banging on about the Living World update plan and so will stick with it even if it’s not working.
Not true. ArenaNet is changing it this year.

The original idea was to have four story teams making a month’s worth of content each, to be released in fortnightly bumps, and whatever mechanical features were ready at that time could be rolled in and included. ‘An online world updated more frequently than any other’ was the dream, but the reality was confusion.

“It’s very distracting to players,” observed Johanson. “It’s almost a muddled message, where we put these releases out and we want them to be excited about the story, to follow the story, and we also want them to be excited about the features that are coming with it. And either one or the other tends to be the thing that people cling onto.” And the other thing, people ignore.

“What we’re going to do this year is we’re actually separating the two of those out.”

All the big mechanical features ArenaNet is working on will be held back for a bumper update presumably in the spring/summer.

“When [Living World Season One] ends [on 4th March], we’re going to take a break for a little bit and then we’re going to do one really big feature patch that is more akin to what people see from some of our [MMO] competitors,” said Johanson, "where they bundle a lot of features together into a really big patch every now and then.

“We’re going to provide that experience and have this huge feature build that has a whole lot of gameplay-changing elements, a lot of quality of life improvements, a lot of features bundled together into one big patch. And that’ll come some time not too far after Season One completes.”

So yes… they will be delaying game features in favor of doing their “living story season”.

Which frankly is ridiculous, wvw is a separate system from the living story, so why does everything else need to be shoved aside to cater to living story first? Most wvw’ers I bet don’t even care about living story so why delay new wvw features. Arenanet has become such a frustrating company since release.

T4 population issue - Next Steps and Timeline

I think the biggest problem and question right now is Anet’s strategy for creating the links.

Are they trying to balance servers according to their tiers?
Do they plan to stay on this course?
Or are there plans to have a more general balance for all servers in the future?
Do they plan on keeping tiers separate with population and glicko walls?
Or do they want to bring servers closer together in the tiers next to them?

Are we the players happy with their “current strategy” for creating links according to their tiers? Would we prefer a different strategy? Such as creating balance between two tiers, t1 and t2 close to each other, t3 and t4 close to each other, maybe even make those tier pairings separate like a national and american league in baseball.

Most of the links are on the bottom tier right now, maybe they need to be more in the mid tiers instead? so leaving t1 as is with no links, using t4 as the low population tier good for roaming and small groups with no links or maybe just 1, using t2 and t3 as the rotating mid tier that has all the links, to go back to the old gold/silver/bronze ranks. Should link servers get some time as host servers?

Do we want them to eventually try and create population balance between all 12 servers/links? This requires a lot more time as they need the top servers to drop players for the rest of the servers to be able to reach them in population size even with links, or they can sort of expedite this process by folding t4 into t3.

The other problem is we have is many different players who are comfortable playing with different amounts of players. A lot like to blob, a lot like to zerg, some like to havoc, some like to roam. Not everyone cares for complete balance between all servers (it’s one of my dreams for wvw), frankly that will never happen without a complete reset of wvw and heavy restrictions, to make sure that balance can be maintained while players populate the servers.

Players moving are doing so to find the right amount of players for them to play with in their time zones. Players coming in here to complain about populations are doing so because they don’t want to move to find the right situation for themselves, they want anet to step in and balance the population around them according to their comfort levels, because of friends guild or server loyalty. In part that is Anet’s fault for doing poor links, such as the 4 linked monster in t4, or the old t8 servers shoved to t1 in the first links, which forced players into an uncomfortable situation.

People need to accept that players will move to find better situations for themselves, a guild that wants to fight will have more opportunities to do so in t1 than they would in t4. A havoc team that wants to take objectives without getting a blob on their heads will have more opportunity to do so in the lower tiers.

Players that seek a complete balance between between all servers, need to accept that it will never happen both because of rules in place my anet and by the players who are just seeking their own enjoyment in the game.

I think both the developer and player need to figure things out and get on the same page for links.

Tier4 what is the solution?

1) would produce stagnant matches, which are as bad as blowouts. Because it’ll never be balanced and someone will end up in a bad stagnant match.

There are stagnant matches anyways, and people complain anyways. But at least stagnant matches keep players playing rather than blowouts which drives away players for weeks at a time. At least a new match players can get excited about fighting someone else for a change.

2) might be a solution. Part of the problem is the top servers are so populated that you can’t create 12 servers that are relatively balanced, no matter how many servers you link. So splitting it into T1/2 and T3/4 may work.

Yeah basically the best thing to do now would might be a rotation of 6 servers on top and 6 on the bottom. It’s still open for choices, if you want more population and coverage then jump to the top 6, if you enjoy more havoc, roaming, don’t mind less coverage then hop down to the bottom servers. Just like the old gold silver bronze leagues. Instead of having to juggle 4 tiers of different population levels, try and cut it down to 2 sets of tiers. Coverage of course will throw a wrench in this unless the new skirmish changes help.

3) soft Glicko reset may be worth trying. It’ll produce crazy imbalanced matches but at least there will be variety. I think you’d need to pair it with some form of 1U1D to quickly get better matches.

A reset like this, rank 1-3 or t1=2000, t2=1900, t3=1800, t4=1700, basically where they’re at now except you’re closing up the gap between t3 and t4. There’s no reason to “wait” and have glicko straighten itself out every new link, especially when there’s such a big gap, even with CD steamrolling t4 this rotation they probably would not have reached t3 on their own, unless a t3 server fell pretty hard. I’m still in favor of 1u1d as well.

4) a hard merge will work no better than linkings. In fact it would be worse. Because even if you could get perfect merges, in a month you’d have massive imbalance all over again – with no recourse for correction.

There’s going to be imbalances no matter what because of open transfers and players and guilds moving wherever they want, you won’t be able to stop it unless you stop transfers or close servers. I’m all for links, if they do them properly. I don’t know if that 4 link was an experiment or what, but I hope the next links will be better balanced.

PPT or Bags?

I understand why you would say that, it really sounds like an excuse, but in the case of SoR it has been like this since a long time ago, even when we were winning some T1 matchs.

How do you think SoR even got to T1? How do you think you won over servers that still play for ppt? You didn’t even get points for just fighting until they put the bloodlust buff in, even then you’d think they would run away with points from stomping but they don’t. There were people that cared about server competition and played for points as well, you get fights along the way anyways unless you’re pvding. SoR has this mob mentality now that the entire server is just for the fights, trying to turn themselves into another magummy.

Rall wants to think they’re special and they let people play how they want, at the same time they only play to fight and think that’s how they win. The reality is every server lets their guilds play however they want, but they tend to have a healthy balance of both types of players. The Rall elitist keep campaigning for the fights, that will drive away their ppt players and eventually their pugs from wvw or even the server, hell even some of their for the fights guilds already jumped ship.

The more I hear Rall shouting out that they only play for the fights, the more it looks like an excuse that they can’t compete anymore, even more so since the season when they tanked. What, they think they’re the only server to face coverage odds? pfft.

I think those of you clamoring for anyone to get fired for coming up with this event should, grow up.

Participate in the ONE WEEK event or don’t. I shouldn’t be surprised that people are saying such things but I still am.

These are peoples lives, they are trying to do the best they can for you and all of us. Never is it okay to demand someone be fired. Whether its here or in your normal life. That is a horrible thing to do.

The devs do read this, and this only causes a greater divide between Devs and players. What we need is to give constructive feedback.

Perhaps the events should be shorter, perhaps they shouldnt last a whole week.

Thats what you need to bring change. Constructive feedback.

You make it sound like that’s never been tried here. It’s been 3 years, there has been many threads providing constructive feedback including CDI’s, how much response has anet provided in return?

Quite obvious exploitation is happening with this event and all they’ve done is shut their ears and waiting till it’s over, do you think that’s how they should treat us wvw players? do you think we should continue to provide constructive feedback on deaf ears?

You can bet if it was an exploit involving the trading post they would have been all over that in mere hours.

Bloodstone Crazed Creatures Event

The schedule is, unfortunately, really unreliable, and seems to contains ome weird random elements. For example (based on device readings, and reports from other players), the evening schedule yesterday at EU was thus:*

- Moa/Devo
- Arcto/Shark
- break (yes, that’s no mistake)
- Wyvern (for 1 hour)
- break again

And that last break lasted only ~15 minutes (at least ten, according to the device. Was semi-afk for the remaining 5 and not checking, but from the map chat other people reported break as well aven in that time), before suddenly, with no warning, Moa spawned. Moa died really fast, by the way (by the time i arived from where i was standing, which was closer than the closest wp, it was already at 50% hp), so people that weren’t already nearby and checking situation had no chance at all.

(from the description seems to have been the same instance Xenesis was on)

That’s really bad design.

Heh I went to hunt for shark again late last night before I went to bed, I got into a blood creature hunting squad and into frostgorge at least 20 mins before to make sure no funny business happened again.

Again at the top of the hour after moa/devourer phase I waited 10 mins checking the scanner for the next phase, nothing was showing on scanner, then at 10 after the hour arc/shark showed on the scanner, went shark hunting, popped him with a few shark kills and notified the squad. He popped up in the underwater tunnel in the middle of the map which took us a minute to figure out how to get there but gave the whole squad enough time to arrive.

Not really much point in having an hour long spawn phase when they are killed within a couple mins of the phase flip and only once per map. Why did I experience a 10 min delay twice? The break periods don’t seem to be consistent either. Which would also explain why I’ve seen moa spawn at the top and bottom of the hour, if it was indeed a 3 hour cycle they should be spawning consistently at the top or bottom of the hour, but extra breaks shoehorned in there would break that up.

The tracker was poorly implemented.

blame MAG for the downfall of BG since they made 4+ guilds moved to lower tier.

Mag should blame Mag too for also chasing 4+ guilds off their server.

Maybe BG needs to stop running away, smell some roses, and just enjoy wvw for a change, there’s no need to manipulate glicko anymore, no need to super stack time zones, no need to ppt opponents to death, no need to hibergate, no need to run into eotm when things are tough.

Wvw isn’t the same thing it was 2 years ago, being the number one server is meaningless, and every other server has taken their bumps and bruises and fell out of tier one.

We’ve been hearing BG is dying or dead for a while now, and yet they’re still competing in tier one, need to stop coming in here and crying wolf already. Tons of servers under you in worse positions to better claim they’re dying or dead.

BG players are fatigued from all these double teamed fights with linked servers.

Yup boon corruption is pretty bad in this game, it was fine before the expansion when you didn’t have 20 guys running around with 6-8 boons constantly, but not now, and it’s dumb that they stuck most of it on necros.

Invent a new trap!

Some sort of trap that took a large number of people to trigger could be interesting.Say 10 or 15 people to trip it.

They could make master versions of the traps which instead of 1 person triggering it, it requires 5+ or 10+ which would be better on zergs when they clump in the trigger spot.

It’s a 3 sided game, there’s always going to be a “double team”.
Didn’t TC do the same to BG with JQ?, had any problems with that?

That alliance of guilds moved to TC to try and dominate T2 with numbers (especially with the incoming rumored merge, thanks again anet employee). I applaud DB and FA for banding together and hitting TC every chance they get, that is what should happen in a 3 way, the two lesser servers should put pressure on the top server.

Will wvw recover after the clown week?

A lot of players are “Wvw” only players, it’s the only reason they play the game, so yes wvw will recover, a lot of those players taking the week off will be back and I’m sure excited for normal wvw action.

Plus some things need to be sorted out after this week. A bunch of guilds moved to YB, they’re pushing for Tier 1.
T1 I’m sure will be going into fortify mode to try to stop that, unless TC wants to drop first? or BG who took the biggest hit from the leaving guilds?

Is FA really going to sit aside and help YB drain it’s glicko to reach T1? SoS will try to put up roadblocks on roads in their borderland, but there’s really no patrols around so expect lots of zergs speeding through there especially from YB.

CD just popped into T3 this past week after two weeks of unlucky rolls, but the clown crap didn’t show their true power or did it?, can they really be the new king of T3? or will they get dumped to T4 on another unlucky roll lol.

Why did Anet spend the last two years revamping systems they didn’t exactly need to revamp? and in just the first two years after release. Streamline some things like the loot drops sure, but the revamping traits was not needed since it was made worse, and offering cookies on level ups now is not going to hide that fact.

Two years that could have been used to strengthen the end game or actual new content like a new race class or weapons. Even Wow did not rework their leveling zones and systems until they did cataclysm six years later.

Such a waste.

Suggestion: Free server transfers

Meh make it from this point on,
Every existing account that never transferred, gets a free transfer.
Accounts that upgraded from free accounts already get a free transfer when they upgrade.
Every account that has transferred at least once, has their next transfer cost 1000 gems.
Every transfer on the account after that goes up in increments of 500 gems, to a cap of 5000 gems.

If eventually you get to the 5000 gems cap you might as well just buy a new account and restart the transfer cost.

The increment cost has been mentioned before I’m sure, just putting it out there again.

Make PPT proportional to tick population

They already mentioned something like this could be implemented, but their version would be bonus points during more active periods, which is determined by how many are on from all sides, and also the catchup mechanics.

Your idea is to give bonus points to outnumbered sides, and cut the points from the side that has the most on. Instead of going 0.5x should just leave it at 1x, and give a straight bonus to the outnumbered side 2x or 3×.

I already mentioned this some time ago in another post about outmanned and bloodlust buff, to add 2x bonus to 2nd place and 3x bonus to 3rd place while under these affects, to help keep the matches closer and fix some of the bad coverage scoring.

It really would be no different than lets say in hockey when one side as “too many men on the ice”, they take a penalty and the other side has a better chance to score for 2mins, or basketball, you foul someone they get free throws which gives them points with the clock stopped.

I don’t think we will ever get close to balance for population or coverage for most servers, but you can still give out bonus points for certain situations, players would still need to actively take and kill in order to earn those bonus points.

Would a bigger map help wvw?

A bigger map can work if they design enough useful points of interest in it, as well as create a “front line” for fights.

I’ve seen a “bigger” map in action with the rvr map from ESO, that map is HUGE compared to even DBL, like at least 5x as big. But they have mounts and speed buffs to help get around, as well as having a waypoint system to port to and from every tower or keep they have, as long as they are connected by your side. You can temporarily shut down a tower or keep from having a waypoint for your enemies if you capture the 3 surrounding objectives attached to it, these are objectives that make havoc sized teams important to have.

There are some bad things in having a huge map, if they don’t fit in ways to travel around in a decent amount of time, like that waypoint system it’s kitten boring moving from one place to another. You would also need to design structures with more hitpoints, which in ESO basically every structure has tier 3 upgrades, but you have to repair walls after every fight, there’s no auto repairs from upgrades. That is to give time for defenders to respond.

I think for DBL what they needed to do was design the map to have more useful objectives to fight for, rather than having obstacles to break up the zergs. Imagine if you had to cap swt nwt first before attacking fire keep, or had to cap swc and nwc in order to shut down the waypoint to fire keep, there certainly would be a lot more small groups tackling that stuff as you wouldn’t take one zerg around to do so. Of course fire keep would have to have some extra value to even bother with the trouble of taking it, like giving a map buff of something.

There needs to be more stuff connected together that need to be conquered together in order to proceed to another objective type of thing. Instead of letting everything be out there and not really connected and can be taken anyway anytime, well why wouldn’t you just take one big fat zerg to all of them then.

standing for hours in towers and scouting was one of the most boring, unrewarding and time wasting activity you could do in this game, so I am glad Anet gave us the opportunity to remove the need for scouts in towers.
Crafting a watchtower tactivator costs 2-3g, so it is not exactly for free either

There are players who like to defend and tend to stay on maps doing just that, including build and maintaining siege for those attacks. It’s not like white or orange swords don’t exist. If you don’t like to scout, you don’t have to.

People kept asking to split zergs up, but then they added something that hampered small groups and encouraged zerging instead. GG.

JQ and BG OPEN AGAIN!!!

Yet in the 4+ years we’ve been in tier 1, we’ve fought against servers that have had superior coverage to us in every respect. Yet we’re still here. JQ at one point was the number one server in T1 for well over a year straight. You don’t have to like us but you can’t deny the resilience of BG over all those years.

Having the first tournament win and teq revamp kill solidified labeling BG as a winning server. There’s no doubt BG has a tight community even if half of it may have been from buying guilds or bandwagon players years ago (BG didn’t start on top afterall). Even through it’s own set of troubles they still managed to weather those storms and stay in t1, JQ has had multiple storms that they haven’t been able to weather very well, their NA has been suffering for a while, why TW had to go help them.

Every single server has a core of players that stuck to the server through thick and thin, many have had to weather situations worse than BG ever did, like how many have had to lose guilds going up to t1 all these years. You guys are the last super t1 server, you basically won, you outlasted your counterparts. The current era of the game is different, you don’t have to be number one every week because no one cares anymore, people want balanced and fun matchups.

At the end of the day, coverage will always win you this game.
BG Skirmish this week 45 1st, 11 2nd, 0 3rd.

Small Guilds, stop complaining about GHls

Favor and Aetherium are not a problem, I don’t mind that system, I wish the upgrades were just built around those two than the massive material grind they implemented.

Speaking for a small 7-10 player wvw guild, having our buffs taken away with guildhalls is a major pain the kitten and yes it has affected how we will play the game. Our +5 supply buff is now hidden away behind level 37 guildhall and a dozen other required upgrades.

True some things we have automatically learned from the previous system, such as guild catapults, but hearing the latest cost for scribe schematics is mind blowing. Wvw is already the lowest rewarding area in the game, and they just nerfed the gathering nodes in there as well, we have no choice but to farm pve if we want to get any upgrades done in a timely manner. At least the gvg guilds got their arena upgrade dropped from 2 months to 2 weeks.

It’s just really ridiculous how they went about the guild hall system, and I don’t see them changing anything.

Yeah well they can ignore this and continue to work on HoT, but I think doing so has done damage to their customer relations, and I’m sure quite a few players are now rethinking about even buying the expansion, including myself.
So hope the event was worth it at the end of the day, because they kitten off a lot of wvw players and for sure lost some sales.

But seriously the buff and event are ending at the end of the week, they still have to put in work to do so anyways right? they could have just done it days earlier. So saying it would have taken time away from HoT is weak, (seriously? they hot patched guardian and engineer trait bugs, and the revenant siege bug). If it took no resources to implement the event it surely would take none to revert the changes.

Look at the end of the day I appreciate they even did an event, I could have stomached this week if the exploits weren’t around. I questioned why have golems built for free AND given 100% damage and speed, do one or the other but not both would have been fine. Hopefully this was a lesson in not granting that much power to siege ever again.

NA Top One Tier Concern

Honestly there is a lot missing here in terms of info. What time did you take this, what day, what is the coverage for your server on that time?

But there will be salt on both sides about the changes. I for one am really not having the T1 crap. Anet needs to come onto these forums and read suggestions and start thinking about ways to fix the imbalance and linking crap that has caused so much volatility in WvW to allow for “Manual Glicko Adjustments” when they did not need to do that for the first 3 years of GW2’s life.

I am not looking forward to FA being in T1 or close T1. All the blobs can stay in T1 and I will enjoy my small group fights in T2. Because it’s not a blob-fest against SoS and JQ.

Wtf why is Fa and sos who have been losing to jq in t2 for weeks, get a boost and JQ doesn’t? lol jfc.

The only balance that needs to be done is BG needs to stop kittening hibernating and destack, like every single other server already has.

Regarding Power Orbs of WvWvW: Suggestions for changes

I’ve considered a few options in regards to changing the orbs, because I agree that having the top team with all 3 orbs just because they have more population doesn’t exactly promote much competition.

1. Make each orb stat bonuses attached only to their homelands. So for instance as the teams the op pointed out. Each orb is worth 5% hitpoints +50 to all stats to their team, if SoS captures IoJ and HoD orbs they do not get their bonuses, but rather they take away that bonus from those other two servers. This way we don’t see a huge shift in stats on an already dominating team, but rather you keep the stats away from your opponents. You still have to reward the team for making the effort of taking away those orbs.

2. Make each orb have different stats, so for instance green bl orb would give 150 vitality, red bl orb would give 150 power, blue bl orb would give 150 toughness. What this does is it gives the different servers a boost in areas to help them start the matchup. So red being the lowest in ranking here would get an extra bonus to damage to help compete.

3. I would drop the orbs all together because of the constant complaints about hacking and bugs surrounding them. I would instead attach bonuses to each keep(garrison, bay, hills, eb keep)x3 for a total of 12. Each keep you own would give +1% hitpoint and +12 to all stats.

Also the undermanned buffs needs to change, +magic find doesn’t help at all if the enemy outnumbers me 2 to 1, especially when I’ll probably be doing less killing if anything this only encourages me to go pve in there. Give me more hit points or stats you actually use in combat to help me cope with being overrun until more people get into the zone.

Really the only servers who seem to want to be t1 and enjoy it’s blob play style is BG TC JQ, and really after spending so much time up there by themselves building for that style of blob play it’s to be expected for other servers to falter after a while, YB and DB. Can JQ rebuild their NA to stay up there? they’re open again, or will Mag push up there by default when DB drops.
