I never was into wvw or similar stuff in other mmo´s. In GW2 I only went in there to get map completion first and then my 500 badges for my gift of battle. After spending more time in wvw, I started liking it and now play wvw more than 60% of my time.
But when I started out, wvw wasnt as competitive as it is right now. These days its harder for new players to get a foothold in wvw without being screamed at for beginners faults.
I think the wvw community can do alot more to make new players feel welcome and important. For example, experienced commanders can offer weekly training events where you take 10 new players to a borderland and do the breakout event. If you focus on explaining alot instead of rushing to the next objective, they will have a way more exciting first experience and might stick around.
A big plus-ONE to this. ….ALL of the WvW players in this thread,
who keep Writing off PvE’ers, NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO THIS
When I quit this game (b/c the WvW was so disappointing) and went and played Planetside2 instead… one of the Outfits I joined did this sort of activity on a regular basis and it probably sounds like a really trivial thing, but it’s amazing what a difference it can make if you can say the right things that get new players to become part of it and gain the confidence they desperately need to actually learn from their mistakes instead of getting frustrated and overwhelmed. Granted, you need really strong or atleast really charismatic leadership to pull it off… but “likable personalities” has always been what keeps people actually playing MMO’s together. Therefore it’s just as much up to the Community also to improve WvW (and maybe even find a way to CHANGE THE META AWAY FROM ZERGING / “winning at all costs” somehow … possibly with Tac-Ops nights or coordinated efforts to balance out populations better and keep Griefers out of the Jump Puzzles too)
I actually got Banned from Guru by their Tryhard GvG moderators for pointing this sort of super obvious thing out back when GvG itself was Floundering and they all insisted it was b/c it was something Anet wasn’t doing, or constantly telling everyone else in the community they’re baddy-n00bs who HAVE to accept the GvG Meta as it was intended by the Elite players. Well they were wrong about Anet there, b/c Anet was still making changes to Skills every 3 months then. And it clearly wasn’t the new players’ faults either. Eventually those mods lost their positions of power as well and history has judged all of them for their Hubris. GvG finally started making gains once again when community-level efforts were made to make it, AND THE META, more casual again & inviting to new players and skilled PvE’ers alike. Unfortunately, It just came too late for it to matter enough b/c by then, there was only 3 months left before GW2 went to Beta Events :p

was nice crit and buffed warr owned you, its normal sniper build i use it too, its fun in WvW, one hit one kill, not lame, pure skill
Try sniping in Planetside or Tribes and then come back and tell us how it’s “Pure Skill” when GW2 does all the aiming for you
Forget the person who’s Downed ….
What’s broken about Stealth Stomping is it also prevents your target’s Allies from interrupting you as well. I’ve tried dozens of times to get someone back up when a Thief or Mez is lingering just out of cleave range. Nothing stops them. You’ve only got a few seconds to get your ally back up and not even 1 second to interrupt the actual stomp. Haven’t been able to save 1 single person when the stomper is Stealthed. Is this a case where the only possible solution is to lay down stealth traps before you attempt to Rez?
It’s the most cowardly tactic I’ve ever seen in WvW, …and I’ve watched whole teams of speed hacking IOP gankers back when those were a thing….
It’s a really simple and FAIR fix: You start the stomp animation??… You instantly lose stealth and stability. It’s that simple. A little Risk with your reward just like how every other encounter is designed.
(edited by ilr.9675)
I’m more worried about the Deteriorating Attitudes I’ve seen in game than I am of about economy itself. The Economy can rebound after a while. The Hate and Hostility between farmers and event runners and the general all time low Morale of D.E. teams… I dunno if they’re ever gonna be the same after this
If you can’t get the kite, you can’t get it. Simple as that. This isn’t a freebie. You gotta work for it.
I sincerely hope no one tells you this when you really need something you don’t have in real life.
I suspect Randroids and people with the same kind of mentality actually have a lower propensity to thrive in a healthy society.
I agree with his statement. People today are too entitled. A lot of them remind me of spoiled children. Today’s motto seems to be: If at first you don’t succeed, whine about it until someone makes it easier for you.
Well on the same token… the Campers do indeed have it too easy. Any sPvP map or Fortress in WvW that only had 1 possible way of entering it, and no means of sieging it, would have Whine after Whine thrown at it by the very people who tend to defend the Ayn Randish jingoism above. Because…. It’s not competitive spirit. It’s a death trap to make a bunch of bads feel like they’re good at bunkering when in reality their fudge would get pushed in so darn hard in any Balanced map that had multiple ways to assault it. So yes… they’re the hypocrites and wellfare hogs here b/c they’re expecting just keep getting tons of free kills without working for it
Obviously he’s referring to when the Instance Creator leaves….
This is a sticky issue b/c currently we can also benefit from it when we join a PUG of Guildies that we have no reason to trust…. in many cases lately whom will vote-kick you and probably one other “filler” to bring in their own guild members for a free 60 tokens for people who literally did nothing but “be online and show up” to get them. IoW: kicking the instance owner backfires on them and penalizes their SCAM when you’re the player who did all the Story Modes and then started the dungeon before they could.

As of this post, the farm is available on YAKS BEND
edit: Nvm, patch coming within an hour and no one here to farm with ;|
and winner of best post in this thread goes to….
.
…Honestly I don’t know how people thought this would go unpatched. It was literally “blocking progress” for other players and not just some random Daily or D.E. but a final conclusion World Event and possibly the dungeon itself.
Imagine if the same thing happened in Fireheart rise and no one could enter COF b/c of it? The nerdrage here would be over 9000…
Reminds me of the Soldier Demoman WAR.
Also… everyone look at Martin’s face in that stream when Colin all-too-innocently says that the “Pirate Politics” are nothing at all like current American Democracy… I wonder if that isn’t a similar reaction Most europeans have to that exchange?
Priceless moment
… definitely worth the 23 minutes it took to get there.
(edited by ilr.9675)
I have 4 already…. all crafted. And I’ve been slacking TBH. I didn’t win any Lottery with some super lucky RNG drop to pay for them either. And I don’t farm in this game (unless you consider redoing tons of jumping puzzles when bored to be “farming” that I did ANYWAY before Empyreal shards were even introduced).
But there are some problems I’m seeing with them…. some … Spreadsheet imabalances:
- Soft Wood: 20 planks = 80 logs … NO BUENO. Roll it back to 2-3 logs per plank plz.
- Elder planks: 150 per T7 essence versus only 100 Mithril per metal essence.
- Dark matter salvage = MASSIVE advantage for Gem Store users. (BL Salv)
- We can sell SWood/Deld, & even Asc inscription … but CAN’T sell Vision Crystals
- Everyone Leveling to 500 @ once proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Ancient sappling Nodes are poorly distributed.
- Anets “rebalancing” of World-Bosses is hurting the supply of Crystal Dust
- All these materials are so uncommon in WvW they might as well not even exist there. ….When common sense would dictate that you’d WANT tons of Nodes and sources of this stuff in every single borderland in WvW. A LOT more of it than anywhere else in the game… So that people will actually have a reason to go there and team up even when they know they’re up against a steamrolling Bandwagon server.
Basilisk …..
Oh and a Jungle Raptor that summons other raptors while opening doors and ambushing overconfident Australians in WvW
Have the Inflation Deniers arrived already?
B/c… just as predicted… Fine Mats have gone right back into an Upward Trend.
I want to hear from those guys who claimed it was a DOWN trend 2weeks ago.
I want to hear their explanations for CDust still being double digits.
I want to hear their explanations for why base cooking herbs are so High…
I want real recognition of ridiculous COF matching on http://gw2lfg.com/
I want some historical reality-checks on what happened when Ursan-way took over…
.
But most of all I want to hear them recognize that there’s a “Sixth Race” in this game that doesn’t fit into any of the other 5 stereotypes or content types. It’s a race that behaves like an insectoid Over-Mind and once filled the cursed shores 12 hours out of the day … It persists… instantly constructing bivouacs from the trampled flesh of its own zerging mass of casualties. Thus it flows seamlessly from one DPS’ing path of least resistance to the next. Many speculate it would just do CoE next but those speculators over-estimate this race’s ability to fill more than 1 kind of gap at a time and COE is riddled with “mini-game” gaps and situational awareness tests that this race has not yet evolved above yet. Not to mention a single change to “Alpha’s” AI scripts (make him more like Lyssa-priest) would instantly obliterate any progress the 6th race made towards bridging that most crucial DPS gap…
(edited by ilr.9675)
If what you mean is that Anet just doesnt care, then I guess I understand.
heh, understatement of the year
anything else full dps or go home.
Rangers can’t go full DPS in most of the content being added lately.
A big portion of their DPS is typically dead and limping around in front of them like the saddest animal clip you’ve ever watched on youtube … like a constant reminder that there’s nothing else you could have done. This is the way it’s going to be until you reroll it as a better class…
Everyone knows the real challenge in PvE is how bad everyone else around you is.
Or lately… how badly they’d rather farm than succeed.
Barely ANY of the “achievement” points you can get in this game, come from Dungeons … and almost none of the OTHER content that gives them, is anything like the Dungeons either. Now maybe if someone got most of theirs from high level PvP, that’d be a different story but you can’t see that level of detail anyway so it doesn’t matter.
Question for the OP though:
Was this a real dungeon group you were kicked from, or that stupid gold Farm that doesn’t even belong in this forum??
…to get you excited about WvW?
What would have to change/be added into the game to make it more appealing to those who primarily farm PvE events and dungeons?
Just curious about some of your responses.
I bought this game first & foremost for the promise of WvW.
….then ended up doing PvE all the time instead just like in Gw1
Infact I think I actually spent more time in F.A. & A.B. in GW1 (and enjoyed it more too!). Hell even Costume brawl was more fun than I found WvW to be. I’ll be completely honest here… It’s not even about the rewards or Time Vs. Reward… I think certain dungeons just change things up more and require atleast a bit more skill. WvW is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS a numbers game. (unless you’re fighting a ton of squishy lowbies who are just attempting to power level themselves in WvW).
I can imagine there’s a tendency among WvW’ers to believe these core PvE’ers ran back to PvE with their tails between their legs b/c they got roughed up in WvW. But I’m saying as someone who’s been PvP’ing in RPG’s since Diablo1 ? …. It’s probably the opposite. … I tend to just roflstomp most ppl in WvW. Plus there’s no Pee-Vee-Dooring when it comes to the Temples in Orr. There’s also no culling gimmick thieves & BS mesmers in COE & Arah. … No ballistas through doors in A.C.
It would be nice to think that WvW provides better “A.I.” … but right now it’s REALLY hard to tell because the Core issue… the reason it’s so … NOT what Anet promised us open-world PvP’ers … is the way it “flows”. The meta game just has no real incentives besides Zerg tactics. And It doesn’t actually impact the rest of our PvE world in any way. So you’ve got the perfect storm here, of No Risk, and no … Significance! (I’m not saying reward… a good PvP Meta is it’s OWN reward).
I’m honestly angry at this point.
Last year the game started off terrific. Who cares if all the WoW kiddies got bored within the first 3 weeks and ran back as soon as their Pandas&Pokemon expansion came out? That’s the way it should have stayed. Not slowly being contorted into a l00t treadmill ever since Fractals and everything else in that vein were forced into it.
Gw1 kept simple. We’d get a mini for each Alt, and all the Cupcakes we could find.
And we could STACK those cupcakes with whatever hell other Consumes we wanted.
I want that back. Not this …. Zynga iPad App that not even Dhuum would curse upon us…
(edited by ilr.9675)
We’ve been asking for a new permanent dungeon path for almost a year
Go be bored somewhere else
Threads like these show exactly why none of the other classes feel sorry anytime you guys get nerfs. You guys just don’t understand how DPS is a team function. There’s more to it than just who popped the biggest number on some trash boss.
Ascended refinement… lookin’ at all of ‘em right here. …Leather, 50 Thicks = 150 scraps…. Mith, 50 = 100 ingots, 50 Eld Planks = 150 logs —- so why then, is each silk bolt made from 3 scraps and then we need 100 of thos? That’s 300 scraps per day to refine and they’re costing more than Goss. While the next most comparative resource, Thick Leathers, are ridiculously cheap still. I don’t recall anything justifying this before I took a break, Silk was fairly cheap but not too cheap. Lemme “Spidey” it real quick.
…oh god why… What were they thinking? Well the price hasn’t come down infact it’s still trending steadily upwards. Obviously I wasn’t around at the time it exploded so I didn’t hear their * cough cough * skritt reasoning so that’s why I’m asking. I just did a CM explore, we cleared nearly ALL the mobs. Y’know how much scrap I got? 7 scraps of silk. Awesome…. yeah I can totally see why we needed a sink this big …. * not *
Anyone remember why this was made this way?
They musta said something about it… assuming Smith still posts here?
No I was definitely not in the Path of the Projectiles nor was there any Red Circles back behind me that would indicate projectiles were coming in “above me”. The red circles were a good 20ft to my Left while I was running to the Right. I was zoomed way out infact and watched them veer mid-course right at….and then hit me. Several others also did this, and ALMOST hit me. I’m still not entirely sure why those ones missed when they were making a b-line for me but I think that’s part of the problem here. People think they’re seeing one thing, when a few other things that don’t have a rational explanation are happening instead
Gotta love how Anet locked the last thread about this saying it was an ACCUSATORY thread as if this sort of thing is somehow not an Abuse of D.E. Design when they had just gotten done Patching the Giant on the Promenade out from spawning endless waves of L00t-dropping mobs as well… (and no, it’s not different at all this time, Steve)
Makes ya wonder if their moderators even read their own patch notes :p
Hmm….
Not sure how to feel about this yet.
It’s very underhanded to say the least though that it isn’t in the Patch notes, right?
No see that’s the entire point, I already do that stuff the same way you’d “win” this, b/c it’s all there is to do… Even on ranger I’ll have 3400 attk power and 9-10 stacks of might SOLO…. B/c that’s how 99% of all combat in this game is won.
And in the rest of the game, it doesn’t usually fail just b/c some people are a scepter camping guardian yellin’ “I play how I want!” …
No this is literally the entire game right here and it’s time for them make the REST OF THE GAME they always promised us …. the game that was more like Gw1 where there was more than 2 builds to run for every (well almost every) Class.
(edited by ilr.9675)
I’m going to assume… that the changes to how a team “Dies” in a dungeon is another big factor in why Non-Rangers, and “Zerker” builds in general are seen as so much better than Tanky, Survivalist, & Healer builds.
Before this change… a “Survivalist” Ranger was still considered a very solid addition to any Dungeon that had a long run back to the Boss-Fight from the Respawn WP. …so was a cautious Guardian. Upon returning on MY Guardian, I’m discovering that even the once MOST demanded Class-Build in the game, is now considered sub-par. This makes me a lot angrier at the community in general than it does at Anet speifically.
I built my Guardian for Dungeons and team support… nothing else. When GW2 launched, having 2 or even 3 of us in a party was still considered a Net-Gain b/c everyone didn’t have every single dungeon boiled down to it’s most barebones Exploits at that point. So everyone was just “learning” the dungeons at that time and NEEDED those extra buffer zones that us surivival & support guys provided.
This is mostly a community-inflicted Wound here IMO. It’s really no wonder that Anet has completely stopped most of its own support of Dungeons now. (no responses in that sub forum for 7 months I’m told… exactly how long I took a vacation from the game). There might be some things the Devs * could * do to open Dungeons back up but this whole “reduce HP’s of some bosses but don’t let anyone respawn till the whole party wipes” was actually one of the more common community Requests IIRC…
The community sometimes gets exactly what it asks for, but then it just taints it…
Dungeons, and the Ranger, probably won’t really be fixed until Anet figures out a way to fix them that won’t just get instantly tainted.
(also…)
(they apparently forgot to cut “Defiance” on the Bosses in half…)
(y’know… so we could actually stand a chance of CC’ing them)
(edited by ilr.9675)
ok he is crying stealth is revoked by revealed. ok use detected stealth still doesnt offer any help dps burst with stealth comes from backstab ie not being seen and able to get behind ur enemy even if u can use backstab ur still able to be seen ur not getting behind that guy
Play tf2 and you’ll see how easy it is to see an enemy, know where they are, and still let them slip by and backstab you
That’s ONLY the case with Deadringer … which even if you don’t have some kind of liquid to throw on them, you could still “feel” them when you bumped into them. And you’re probably saying “who would ever just walk straight into you when they’re trying to hide?”…. Well Deadringers for one b/c they got way too confident in it being practically an immortality mechanic against average players. Before the Icicle thing came along though, I used to have like 20-1 KDR’s against most of the best spies on my server with Puff&Sting pyro and I was not a high KDR player, no sir.
The same exact thing can be said about too much stealth in this game. Most thieves going glass just b/c they’re so used to stealth being a “get out of everything” for free card. …. Bad mechanics can literally turn otherwise good players into Bad Players
As usual, ‘balance’ has been solely dictated by spvp to the detriment of everyone else playing the game.
I’m glad I don’t do dungeons (or pve at all) as after this patch the chances of getting a group as a ranger are even lower than they were before.
Exactly. My post (conveniently right above Sharp’s) really hinted at this. Maybe I could be more direct, but Anet themselves could be a lot more direct on this as well. We know from past history that their “Balance” is currently lacking the only 2 people who ever made PvE considerations for the soul sake of PvE (& now WvW). And those people aren’t Isaiah Cartright and Jon Peters… and We know from what sPVP’ers have been saying that even they’re not consistently happy with the ‘vision’ behind those Tourneys & the complete lack of GvG or other Objective & WinCondition modes. But atleast those sPvP’ers have SOMEONE they can direct those frustrations towards and as this update proves… actually see those things get changed.
But where the hell is our PvE representative on the Balance team? This isn’t about Rewards. Colin is handling those and we’re patietntly *(or not) awaiting his detailed blog on it. We need Robert Gee or someone new who will stand up for the classes being “cared about equally” in this other game mode too, no matter how gimmicky or “farmy” or “zergy” that game mode might be. Failing that, we atleast need a better Test-Server program here. To Hell with this super-secret private “Krewe” thing, it’s obviously not working anyway if so many things get leaked from it anyway!
We still have too much attention on Ranger in sPvP thank you very much.
Until SOTG gets a little “WvW/PvE Corner” segment, I’d prefer they just stayed as quiet as possible and maybe then every single patch wouldn’t be another ranger nerf
We should get Daily Keg Brawl achieve for Path2…
When was the last time you came across somebody getting rolled by 3 of your server mates and didn’t add in on the fight to get credit for the kill?
every day
…winning by outnumbering just feels cheap.
Stop making excuses for being afraid of taking on even numbers
Well, I’ll go play a RT strategy game…love those, all thinking, no jumping….and try this again if I upgrade my system, it may be my computer is getting old too.
Actually the Breach wall is all about thinking… A ton of the jumps are intentionally misleading. If people having the OP’s problem had watched enough videos on it they’d see where there’s a bunch of components to it where you were could jump off to the side first or go back around behind instead of just trying to nail a series of really Long or precise jumps.
If it took you an entire hour or more then maybe you’re over-estimating your own improvisational cognitive aptitude? (one of which possible processes would yes, be you-tubing it. That’s not always cheating). ….The other thing, not to be a Spoiler here, but even if you HAD nailed that last jump, you wouldn’t have completed the zone. …NOT WITHOUT this other tower over here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JsSl_waYpQ which is several times more frustrating b/c it’s pure control mashing + some really precise leaps with no way to out-think it. (that last jump was probably the worst jump in the entire game for my Norn who’s now completed 90% of all JP’s)
(edited by ilr.9675)
- #1, legendaries had identical stats to Exotic last week.
- #2, the Ascended rings alone which is an item that normally only has 1-2 point difference going from Masterworks to Rares to Exotics, is actually 5 points stronger than an exotic. (not including the infusion which can add even more base stats)
- #3, they aren’t done yet! They’re not just adding Ascended items, they’ve gone so far as to deny in a German interview that this is the last l00t tier they’ll be adding b/c they don’t want to be seen as lying about it the next time they add another one.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Here’s someone who’s not thinking with portals…
ONE WORD:
*MATCHMAKING. *
…. same exact thing that KILLED CODEX too and Anet didn’t learn their lesson then either. It just didn’t have any REAL MATCHMAKING the first month this game went live. Therefore most entry-level players gave up.
I’m still astounded everytime I see a new MMO or e-sport wannabe game launch without proper ELO and Ladder and Matchmaking systems that separate Guild Teams from Pub teams. Tribes failed hard there. Mechwarrior Online failed even Harder and that POS is on life support right now with less players actually playing it than any previous major MW game since Ghost Bear’s Legacy. … I mean for crying out loud, even APB actually had some kind of ELO system based into its mission ranking system YET that game was relaunched on a shoe-string budget & has been the laughing stock of F2P games ever since. …so what the hell is everyone else’s excuse??
I could go on here… but it’s already been pointed out to Anet that they have a serious problem in this area ever since GvG first started floundering and attracting fewer and fewer newcomers. …and that was… what, 3 months after Nightfall came out??
Perhaps you should have posted this in the PvP subforum as well for a different reaction. PvErs have a generally sour view toward sPvP.
B/c they can’t ever find Tiered fights against other newcomers, DUH.
Do I have to invoke RA & Costume Brawl Tournament promotion here?
They’re not jaded b/c they love ONLY PvE and never want to be in PvP.
They’re Jaded b/c sPvP is full of rank snobs who’d rather farm newbs than mingle with them. This is one of the only really skill-based communities to ever exist that has this Souring Viewpoint to begin with. Hell on Guru they used to ban you for even mentioning Rank Elitism. The oldschool portion of this community is one of the Worst PvP communities in the HISTORY OF GAMING and they refuse to admit it even though some of them also play other PvP games that are much much better and more supportive.
…Also it doesn’t help that sometime during Factions, the game’s PvE community magically changed from being the horrible BattleNet-Tier standard it started out as, to one of the best in RPG’ing ranking up there with DAOC, COH, BG, and several other very inclusive RPG’s. IoW: PvP started facing some real uphill competition for popularity.

STOP LIVING IN LIONS ARCH!!!
There’s other cities to congregate and craft in … Guest to other servers if you have to.
sheesh…
Also, if you think these things are bad you shoulda been around for the YETI INVASIONS!
-Remove the hotjoin 8v8 altogether.
-Make free tournaments function the way Random Arena functioned in GW1. -(No premades)
RA was a cesspool where, as soon as the countdown started , the whole match was decided as soon as it was evident your team didn’t have enough Monks/Assassins. And most of that was due to the team sizes being so small. Even costume brawl had this same dynamic and it was the most balanced 4-man ever.
You can’t balance those matches with Even Quantity-vs-Quantity. You have to specifically measure every individual player’s strengths and weaknesses and then pit them against eachother based on that. Even if it means stacking up 9 amatuers against a 5 man premade
(edited by ilr.9675)
I’m more worried about whether or not we’re going to get shafted because the whole our skills scale like kitten (compared to other profs) and our pet gets NO bonus for our gear.
This
Every single powercreep update in Gear … consumables .. and … just about everything else… continually makes our pets and thus US —> WORSE b/c those pets do NOT receive those buffs/enhancements like they really should. (in PvE … NOT in sPvP where you can’t even use any of that crap in the first place)
There is only broken RNG everywhere.
Streaks everywhere..
Someday people will notice that despite we tend to notice only rare occurences, its becoming too obvious for occurencies that should be rare to be instead the norm.I personally get almost no exotics from forge… like 50 attempts 1 random exotic.
There’s something in gaming called “Streak Breaker” code.
It can be used to stop unlucky people from Rage-Quitting games.
It’s very simple to program. And any company who doesn’t put that extra effort in, is inviting their players to “Suffer” or look on as someone much luckier than them makes threads like these. Not implying Anet doesn’t know how to program either, obviously with their “Anti-Farm” coding that penalizes us for getting good drops in the same area for too long, they obviously are already fans of programming this sort of thing in to stop “certain Streaks”. …..and no this wasn’t something they came up with to fight bots, it actually was added to Gw1 atleast a year or 2 before farming bots even existed.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Greatly reduced PPT for taking/holding unconstested stuctures … only get the BIG PPT points when it’s contested. ….entire “Defense isn’t rewarded” & early morning ninjas problem solved. <—— Get on it Anet. There’s no reason for 6 more weeks of this. This doesn’t have to be Groundhog Day
Anet seriously should have seen this coming … that the design they set up would only discourage 2 out of 3 servers as the week dragged on and coverage differences ate away at all the competitiveness. (which then lead to transfer stacking)
(edited by ilr.9675)
I don’t understand how it is an “exploit”. You guys make it sound as it’s illegal, a bug and want people who do this banned ASAP.
I mean, events have a fail option. There is no rule about how we should complete an event.
No, no one’s saying that. It is abuseable however and obviously not what Anet intended if you read Colin’s post more carefully. Infact this has been an on-going dialogue that Anet has weighed in on even back before the game was live when they first announced D.E.’s. …As in:, a Developer literally came to Guru and assured us personally that events like the “Giant Champ” on the Promenade that could potentially block other players from succeeding an event simply by “Scaling” too much, would always get patched…. or changed in some way so that no one would have conflicting interests.
This one… if you look at the palpable immaturity of the Farmers involved, is actually a lot worse than the Giant was. And I mean that strictly in their CUSTOMER SUPPORT department, not the design itself. Consider for a minute just how many more /reports they’re now having to sift through, both legitimate ones, and “abusing-report function like it was L.o.L.” kind of tickets…) that is a COLOSSAL waste of human resources right there that doesn’t need to be happening in the first place
(edited by ilr.9675)
They don’t want our suggestions I’m afraid to say…
They just want us to be patient while they continue to work on their main priorities.
then eventually….they’ll get back to us. It’s pretty obvious that’s what sharp was implying by the way. You just have to read it for what it is: IE: “sorry but no one’s getting special attention, and the forum that squeeks the loudest doesn’t get the grease in our book”. It’s actually very consistent with their approaches in GW1. Getting any positive Ranger changes (purely PvE split ones) was like pulling teeth then too, and the only reason we got any is b/c a new “head” Dev had just been put in charge while these other guys shuffled off to the new toy (beginning their designs on GW2). Not saying we took advantage of that dev, we just got lucky I guess and actually got our voices heard on making the pets suck less in PvE. We weren’t actually allowed to post suggestions though…. so they still did all the “creative” sides of it themselves… and as expected, the results were mostly mediocre at best and they continued to be shunned in dungeons
+
(edited by ilr.9675)
Now who sounds crazy? …go ahead an stand in one spot for 2 hours, then kill whatever is near you expecting it to drop nothing at all. How does that make sense? …We actually used to foil the old DR in Gw1 by just doing this… waiting about 5 minutes in a single spot BEFORE we started farming & re-farming it. Switching Alts sometimes helped too. 0_o
If you want to see some more interesting results, don’t just AOE everything at once, even if it balls up on it’s own. Finish them off one by one further spans apart, then watch as more l00t tends to drop. People who follow your line of logic would never notice something weird like this, they’d just immediately do whatever it takes to equip the highest power MF+Zerkers stuff b/c they think everything’s going to be perfectly linear like a Blizzard game or JRPG…

There are SOOO MANY nods to bit-part Gw1 NPC’s who didn’t do anything cool, all throughout every blasted inch of Tyria2.0… yet I haven’t found 1 single ref to Vael
What’s up with that??
If this happens again when Elona becomes explorable and there’s no mention at all of Bahltek either… their Lore department is going to be recieving some Mysterious Sulfurous Powder… (<— that’s a joke btw referencing the desolation… don’t ban pl0x)

1. Ranger Sword — (prevents dodging, evades don’t match animation)
2. Ranger Pets — (can’t dodge at all, F2 takes up to 4 seconds to activate)
3. Ranger DPS -- (izzy said in 2011 it would be very high. It’s currently the lowest on Avg)
3. If you die, wp. Don’t lie there dead for 10 seconds screaming for a rez.
wait … wut ?
You’re not talking about dungeons here are you?
Really? Already whining about YB zergs? I expected that from EB, but not BP. Where were the complaints when you had numerical advantage over opponents.
Look at it this way… based on our queue times (past weeks we had almost no queues), we’re fielding LOTS of pve’ers and fairweathers. Just enjoy the bags.
I agree that BP is wasting its talent Left and Right and only has itself to blame right now. It’s definitely not been coordinating simultaneous captures & “escape portaling” to turn YB’s single-Blobness strategy against itself.
But a lot of these fights… the YB blob is so darned huge that a lot of us in these smaller groups get hit with Lag, more Lag, and even D/C’s while just trying to to figure out what to do next. We’re standing there pre-buffing getting ready for the fight, then all of a sudden a wave of Pre-Cacheing hits us for -50 fps, followed by a wall of Glass Nukes from these Scarlet/Tequatl zergs. And that’d be fine if we were Champions and Anet scaled this version of PvE like it scales all the rest of PvE vs. a massive Zerg. That’d still be a fair fight for the remaining stalwarts who weren’t instantly crashed out by the no-skill blob. But they already said they’re not interested in our opinions on what’s logistically more sustainable for the long term health of WvW. This is Living Story! …use it up, then 2 weeks later the next fad can be chased for maximum grind…
I don’t have 3.
I gave up on having 3 b/c even addressing just 1 seems beyond their collective Will anymore
only one ranger pet? …feeling left out here
Nice screeny tho! Hope you guys got to face Professor Oak afterwards
After all, they don’t have Hrouda’s walls anymore.
walls made of bears
.
I’m watching the Dev’s video right now, you can’t skip cutscenes, which means you’ll probably waste 10 minutes worthy of doing something else listening to npcs that you don’t give a crap about. YESSSS. At 16:50ish he says “even our lovely group of coordinate people is having difficulties in keeping something alive”… and then i realize they’re killing normal mobs and no one pulled them together to allow cleaving, and he’s using scepter+gs mesmer… and now i’ve closed the video, what a bucket of kitten.
edit: here’s the link in case anyone wants to acquire brain cancer – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbVtyFap1Uc
I just found that on my own as I was bored as kitten and watching Youtube… First thing that caught my eye: 25k hp on a mesmer?? …oh lawrdy, and what he called “DPS”. …I do more DPS than that in full GIVERS gear …. ON A RANGER. Is he in full Sents gear?? I thought Mesmer was supposed to be atleast be on par with +Prec spec guardian. He only switched to the sword like once also…
