beside some obscure asian games I have no clue about, this MMORPG probably has the biggest community short of WoW. I have no idea about your level, but you may find starter zones rather empty though. Most people have probably moved beyond them.

1. Fixed
2. Fixed feature build
3. Complicated, technically terrain related bugs. All classes have this issue to some extent.
4. Working as intended. Good topic for debate on changing in the future.
5. Deceptive evasion clones attack closest target, otherwise no repro.
6. Fixed some while after feature build “logged”
7. Fixed feature build
8. Intended, same reason as los…Counter-play.
9. Intended, follows standardized shadowstepping rules. No repro otherwise.
10. Fixed some while after feature build “logged”
11. Fixed some while after feature build “logged”
12. Intended. Those skills bounce to allies and only grant the POSITIVE effects “boons” its not attached to reflect. (Trick: use your reflect to grant extra bounces:D:D)
13. Fixed in feature build
14. Server-side, can’t fix at this time. “Lag related” Blame living world updates
15. Intended. This is how projectile/missile “tracking” works.
16. Fixed
17. Intended. All ranged and melee skills have a 15% buffer range to take account for tracking.
18. Fixed on feature build if not on live.
19/20 Intended. Shouldn’t be able to utilize both at the same time.
21. Globally intended. Buffer range.
22. Intended. Current trait system swaps to different versions of skills from traits, which can trigger weird recharge issues. Such as that one with glamour CD. I wanna say that bug is fixed in the feature build but it’s a weird repro.
23. Fixed some while after feature build “logged”
24. Some issues regarding this fixed in feature build
25. Intended
26. Fixed in feature build
27. Fixed in feature build

Hope that helps

There have been far too many proposals here for me to directly comment on each of them, so I’m going to try and take a broader stab at things.

Firstly, something that I’ve seen in more than one proposal and something that we just can’t do in our game, is the idea of consolidating maps or making larger maps. It is a problem on multiple fronts, but the most obvious issue is that we simply can’t fit more players onto a map than we already have, so even if we were to make a larger map, we couldn’t have a corresponding increase in the number of players on that map. Proposals that rely on that idea are simply untenable.

The discussion point, proposal, whatever you want to call it, that I think is the most useful in terms of designing WvW maps and gameplay is the talk about how to build objectives that feel like they make tactical sense. I think that it is something that could definitely be improved in a new map or with a major rework to the current maps. Having logical and tactical objectives, like a tower guarding a canyon, is something that I think would greatly improve WvW in terms of moment to moment gameplay and longer term tactical gameplay.

That somewhat feeds into a larger issue that is outside the bounds of this particular topic which is defending objectives. It is absolutely the case that we have a hard time correctly tracking defense and rewarding players for it. It is something that we’d like to address on a system level and something that we hope to have a solution for across the board before we do any piecemeal changes. It ultimately comes down to a similar issue to that with the dolyaks, which is that the game isn’t able to track who is escorting a dolyak unless they do something like kill another player which doesn’t usually happen. Until we fix that gap in the game’s knowledge of what is going on, we can’t accurately reward players.

Both of the above things are ways to substantially change the necessity of tactics in the game and to make WvW more about well-organized groups. That’s something we still aim for when we make changes to the game.

One final note about the CDI generally, I’ve said it before and will say it again, the purpose of these threads is to discuss design not to create a work order. What we discuss here is not a promise but an avenue for us to discuss our views on aspects of the game with you all. That means we challenge each others assumptions and hopefully come to a better understanding of what will make GW2 better. Some times that manifests in things we talk about being made and sometimes it manifests in us having a better vision for other things we are working on. I hope that correctly sets expectations about things here. Thanks for contributing as it makes us better designers and hopefully means GW2 will be better off in the long run.

As Colin mentioned in this blog post, “Due to the size and scope of the final four story releases in season one, the next round of major features will be bundled together into a large “feature only” release that will come after the first season of the Living World 2014 has finished.”

More information on this feature release will come available after the current living world arc wraps up.

Did [GSCH] Gaiscioch actually leave SoR?

in WvW

Posted by: Jeff.5139

Jeff.5139

Gaiscioch [GSCH] is a permanent feature of Sanctum of Rall. As a long standing gaming community active since 2001 [GSCH] lobbied very hard to get SoR named after their member Roger Rall (1946-2011).

[GSCH] members have of course always been free to roam and if they want to play WvW with friends in other servers I personally don’t see anything wrong with that and SoR will always be here to welcome them back when they come home.

[GSCH] is not just staying in SoR it will exert every effort to ensure that the server is active and that it will last as long as possible in memory of Roger Rall, in fact you can guest with us and participate in several of the community PvE and WvW events open to Rallians and guests from other servers alike, sponsored by guilds such as [GSCH] which also hands out prizes for participation such as Legendaries on a weekly basis.

Doubtful as any Anet dev that plays the game can always get into the main server so it doesn’t really affect them does it.

Actually, when we’re playing the game, our accounts are just like everyone else’s accounts. We do not have easy access at all. I’ve played this content in numerous overflows. Many of us aren’t flagged, but we are out there playing with you.

No problem on my server shrug
That’s why this system exists in the first place. The game needs more fights like tequatl, tbh. I think the wurms are a little bit to hard to kill them daily but tequatl is just about right.

Actually, I’m quite surprised how snarky moderators get sometimes on these forums. Once it was in response to people who were rude, another time, not really. I don’t care. Everyone here is a paying customer. Doesn’t reflect well on ANet at all imo. I can only think of two examples, though. Maybe they are not representative.

A paying customer does not have the right to be rude, I do not care how much they pay.

I made this post in another thread but…

If there are other explorable areas, will we find other pale tree’s?

A sylvari named Malyck claims there are other pale trees and he came from a different one…..

I think that would be a good direction to go.

It’s an anxiety thing and as someone with anxiety, I was rather disgusted by them adding this. Because it was treated like nothing more than a joke.

Not really? It’s no different then Tami with her legs, or tybalt with his paw….it makes the characters more real. Not every hero is perfect, some have personal challenges which is what I think anet is trying to portray. I didn’t laugh at the scene, I thought (man points) it was cute. Also had an anxiety disorder.

I just got back myself. I played it briefly when it was launched but quit a few months in because my friends stopped playing it and got bored playing alone.

Recently I finished FF14’s latest content and decided to give GW2 another shot. Am absolutely loving it! Its really improved a lot since the early days. I hope this game will continue to improve and last for more years to come.

What happened to SoR?

in WvW

Posted by: Jeff.5139

Jeff.5139

I’m from SoR and it’s WvW is far from dead. The Rallian militia is generally made up of those who refused to commit to a particular hardcore guild anyway and they are just as experienced, stubborn and greedy for bags as ever but now have too few familiar tags to follow, making eotm a tempting if temporary option for them.

Lately though a lot of people who used to avoid WvW have started to get their feet wet and i’ve seen many old names which I haven’t seen in a long while stepping up to bat. The effectiveness and efficiency of the the hardcore guilds is sorely missed but SoR has a very good community from which to draw from for WvW and eventually we should be able to rebuild our numbers although coverage will now play a much larger role in which tier SoR will settle upon in the near future.

One thing I have learned from GW2 is that without a Trinity games end up lacking strategy and combat depth and become nothing more the zerg dps something down. Wildstars trinity is an interesting twist on something many of us have come to love. It brings a new perspective on an old ideal.

If you are a solo player Wildstar has content for you.
If you are a raider Wildstar has content for you.
If you are crafter Wildstar has content for you.
If you are into player housing wildstar has content for you.
If you are into exploring Wildstar has content for you.
If you are a PvPer Wildstar has content for you.

Games really don’t need a trinity. In fact, the trinity is detrimental to the depth of build making and combat.

If I’m the DPS and only the DPS I don’t need to consider the ability to take aggro or healing because that’s not my job. That forces my build to be very linear.

When I’m fighting as a DPS, my almost only focus is doing as much damage as possible, therefore there’s a limited amount of mechanics I can be exposed to, because otherwise it’d be throwing a curveball at me.

I like how the current LA event’s concept. There’s so much crud flying around and so many enemies you will take aggro and damage, whilst you need to kill enemies fast. I potentially have to consider quite a few things in my build, making it interesting. Now realistically it isn’t quite as interesting because the event has now moved away form actually trying to complete the events to basically zerging up and farming the heck out of it, but the idea is much more interesting than if I just had to go and spec for DPS.

On your second point, you could say that about any game that was designed to actually stay off life-support for a few years. Just because it has them doesn’t mean its going to be done well.

I could not disagree with you more.

And in fairness I think GW2 has proven the lack of a trinity – while , convenient for some is about as shallow as you can get.

Also the lack of a trinity means DPS is the only stat that matters which yields poor content design, poor gear choice selection, poor build selection and poor programmed AI.

All these things are apparent in GW2 at this time.

Do you remember how the trinity was in early games? It sucked. It was all tank and spank.

Guild Wars 2 is doing something relatively new. Until developers learn what can and can’t be done with that relatively new system, it will seem shallow.

The encounters ARE improving if you’ve paid attention. Most dungeons sort of suck but I’m pretty sure that dungeons like the new TA path are much better than the original ones.

Three, four years from now, the time it really takes devs to learn a new system, the stuff coming out will be much better.

Saying a new system not being very good is not working is probably a gross overstatement.

You must be new to video games…

Well this is more about MMO games, not games in general. I played a couple MMOs and whenever I wanted something in them I would be able to get it. It wasnt dependant on my luck but on my effort/time spent.

What MMOs did you play?

Every single serious MMO available is pretty much designed around making players grind until they get a lucky drop that they need so that they can be geared enough for content.

At least in GW2, the only stuff that requires RNG for drops is just a cosmetic upgrade.

What can’t you get that isn’t obtainable through time spent? ie accumulation of gold or crafting?

I’d hate to return to the “/roll for a diff piece of loot in every diff instance” days of mmos….I loathed that system – the weeks and months I spent in some games just to get an item which became obsolete a few patches later was heart breaking at times.
