For better or for worse heroes and henchfolk made GW1 very solo-player friendly.

But the second letter of MMO is in fact “Multiplayer.”

So after 6 years of WOW and 2 years of SWTOR i convinced myself to buy Guild Wars 2.
Super excited to be here. This is a absolutely 100% completely new experience for me since i never player the original Guild Wars.At the moment the game is being installed and i am shaking with anticipation to experience this world.I expect great adventures with the Thief i plan to create.

Anyway… just had to get this off my chest.

Any little bit of advice if someone decides to share is appreciated.

Reach Labyrinthine Cliffs

It’s not accessible right now. Labyrinthine Cliffs was mostly occupied by the Zephyr Sanctum, a floating sanctuary and market that docked there temporarily, then flew away at the end of the Bazaar of the Four Winds release.

I would expect it to return sooner or later, possibly next summer, if it becomes an annual thing. There’s just no telling for the moment. If you’d like to get a general feel for the art style of the area, the Sanctum Sprint activity takes place in the Labyrinthine Cliffs area (or at least an activity-specific area inspired by the zone,) and that’s still playable in the daily activity rotation.

If the button press does:

Bring up the chat box, type all of the characters you want, and send the message, all in one press… I think that’s not allowed per Gaile Gray

“He shall make whole that which was torn asunder.
Restore that which was lost. And all shall be as one.”

unique distinctive icon is always better than generic roman numerals.

icons for traits should have been in the game since launch, but we have been stuck with roman numerals for more than a year. this is not acceptable.

Roman numbers are fine.

You can transmit your build easily over a game chat, and it is different from arabic numbers which, if they were used, would be confusing with the number of trait points spent.

TL;DR: it’s an effective way to show your trait build.

Our guild has about 40% under 21 so I would say that more adults play GW2 but more “mature teens” play GW2 VS games like WOW

lol, I beg to differ. I’ve been kicked out of more dungeons than I can count by little teenagers in GW2. Let me give you a comparison. I’ve played WoW since the beginning of it’s existence. I’ll just say 8 years. I was only kicked by a teenager twice in WoW, and he was extremely immature. Fast forward to Guild Wars 2, and I’ve been kicked over 30 times. 20-22ish of those were teens.

Let me get this straight. You’re getting kicked, constantly, and then poll the griefers for their age? You really should stop making up stories, you’re not good at it.

Guild Wars 2 should be in my wheelhouse. I should be excelling at the game. Instead, I find myself dying every night at least a half a dozen times.

Like you I have been playing WoW for a good number of years, and a some other MMOs before coming to GW2. And like you, initially I had problems to adapt, because I was used to be able to face tank stuff, especially on a tanky character.

GW2 does not work like that. Even on a guardian – which was my first choice to level too – you simply can not play like you used to in WoW. While an appropriately specced guardian is quite forgiving when it comes to taking damage, you still need to learn when it is time to get out of harms way. Dodge and keep moving, and I am sure you’ll get it :-)

I have fallen in love with the active combat in this game, and could not stand going back to the more static systems in most of the other MMOs. Give it a little bit of time!

Incorrect, there is quite a bit of stuff that have been permanent addition that has been added with the Living World model.

We have gotten a new area, new dungeon path, two new dungeons that are coming back as fractals, new fractal, new reward system, new WvW stuff, revamped world events, improved crafting and so on.
And yes, we have gotten new weapon and armor-skins with the Living World.

PvEers and you

in WvW

Noobix.3958

This is to all the people kittening and whining about long queue times and those kitten ed achievement whorin’ PvEers taking up valuable spots for more pro, more deserving, more elite hardcore WvWers.

Please take a second to think for a minute about the opportunity that has been presented to the WvW gamemode and community here. Arenanet have provided us with an unprecedented influx of new players. This will rejuvinate WvW on lower tier servers like nothing before. It is now up to YOU, yes, YOU to mentor these players and ‘convert’ them into WvW players. Help them see the beauty of the finest part of the game. Teach them. ‘This is why we dont take supply from towers, these are fire fields and these are the skills you need to use to ’blast’ them.’ Dont berate them in mapchat for grinding camp guards doing JPs etc etc.

Suffer the lag for now. Suffer the huge queues for now. Once everything dies down in a week or two it will all be worth it. I guarantee every server will have a noticably larger WvW playerbase after this league. The key will be which servers that gain the most.

Season 1 achievement guide

PREFACE:
I think this is the best place for this topic. If mods believe it would be better suited for another subsection, such as players helping players, feel free to move it there. I also apologize, that this will take up several posts. As there are massive walls of text.

INTRODUCTION:
Hello everyone. As im sure a lot of you know, season 1 started! And with it came a lot of achievements, and a lot of new faces from the PvE’rs looking to obtain them. Because of this, I decided i’d just type up this quick guide, to help you guys get your season keys asap, and maybe get you a little more up to speed on what you can do to help your server out.

The season key requires you to finish 15 achievements. However there are 19 possible achievements that count. This means that you dont actually have to do all of them. Thus I will be listing them in the order of easiest acquisition/completion. Please note, a majority of my experiences are with T1 matchups, having spent my year playing GW2 in a T1 server. Some achievements may seem easier or harder to you based on what league you are in, this is normal and to be expected! I’ll give explanations about why I think each achievement is easier/harder, so if you feel that it doesnt apply to you, that’s ok.

This guide also assumes that you have no idea how anything in WvW works, so first we’re just going to cover a few terms that will be used over the course of the guide. Feel free to skip this section

GLOSSARY:

Commander: Commanders are denoted by the blue pins that you can see on the map. Im sure you’ve seen them before. These players are there to lead your server to victory, and serve as an indicator of where your team usually is. Listen to their advice and follow their instructions!

Zerg: A large clustering of players. Generally speaking, anything over 15 players can be considered a zerg.

Scout: Scouting involves keeping a lookout for something. In most cases, a scout will be assigned a tower or keep. Their job is to stay there and warn the commanders if an enemy zerg shows up. Sometimes scouts are specifically assigned to find and keep tabs on the enemy zerg before they reach objectives. Scouts play a vital role in any WvW matchup

Blob: A blob is basically a zerg. Typically however it refers to a much larger than usual zerg. A map blob for instance, implies that the entire enemy team is in 1 place. Sometimes commanders will use blob to denote a group of players within a zerg. Such as “Hit that blob to our right.”

X up: X’ing up refers to putting an x in map chat, team chat, say chat, etc, when you intend to do the task that has been called for. For example, if a commander says, “I need a scout for south hills, can I get someone to x up in map chat” the person who puts an x in map chat, is then going to go scout hills. It’s a way for commanders to keep track of who is doing what job, and to not cause the zerg to seperate.

Bloodlust: Bloodlust refers to the buff “bloodlust” this buff gives your entire team additional stats, and points for finishing people with a finisher. Bloodlust is obtained by taking and then holding for 2 minutes at least 3 points in the center of a borderlands. After that, you must prevent any other team from holding 3 points for 2 minutes, but do not need to hold onto 3 points yourself.

Towers/Keeps/Camps: Your commanders and allies may refer to towers, keeps and camps by their initials, or by a shortened version of the name. Try to stay familiar with what things are called. Some examples are “Anz” “RQ” “WC” “MG” “QL” all of these are towers on Eternal Battle Grounds, and knowing exactly which tower is being referred too will be crucial to keeping track of the flow of battle.

That’s it for the glossary. Now onto the actual part you all care about.

The amount of lag I’ve experienced all weekend has been far worst than any other time in Guild Wars 2. My question is, how is it we’ve had these fights before and haven’t had this much lag? I’m roaming right now. Not even CLOSE to the zerg fights, and it’s taking me 20 seconds to cast my heal fighting 1v1.

Other than the massive queues and lag, this season 1 has been incredible so far.
