I have been playing Guild Wars since the release of the first game. Today I tried logging on to my account for the first time in ages. (I’m in the army and was deployed, so I have been unable to play.) My password wouldn’t work and I had misplaced the serial # for my account, so I couldn’t reset my password. I submitted a ticket to the support team with all the information I could about my account (name, address, character names, etc.) and within 8 hours received an email back. They sent me a password reset link that did not require my serial number! I just want to say that the caliber of their customer service/support team is amazing. It is part of the reason I have always bought their games and will continue to support them in their future products.

I’m not disproving anything because you’ve offered nothing to disprove. And if I was insulting you, believe me, there’d be little doubt. You’re a smart person, but with these massive blinders on that you refuse to take off.

Your entire problem has NOTHING to do with the gem store. There are items you want that you don’t want to have to pay for. You want them for free. And you think, “Oh, if we only had a traditional expansion model, all this stuff in the store would be in game!”

Or is it “quick and dirty” development that’s your problem? I can never tell, your rationalizations change so frequently it’s hard to keep up sometimes.

You want expansions. Nothing else is acceptable to you. That’s all there is to it.

I doubt they’ll kill either one. That would be counter-intuitive to their poorly disguised agenda. It’s so palpably obvious they went out of their way to include such to promote their tiresome “everyone’s included, we’re so progressive” tagline, rather than allowing legitimate progression of the story (not borne of forcing ideology).

It detracts from the game in that time was directed to it, it is insincere and artificial, and is at best fan-service for certain demographics, and at worst, propaganda.

We can conclude that since the promotion of such relationships is so common within the game, there must be a purpose. It doesn’t reflect the demographics of reality, so it can’t be to appeal to the player. The sheer number suggests that their inclusion didn’t just “spring to mind” in story development, but that the writers intentionally went out of their way to incorporate it. Furthermore, its presence doesn’t achieve and isn’t able to convey anything not present within a hetero relationship; though I feel as if where they are encountered, there’s no need to mention either type of relationship. As such, the only logical conclusion is that it’s to force an unsolicited opinion regarding real-life through bombarding the player with the inclusion of this artificial writing.

At least Professor (Al) Gorr trying to reduce magic “emissions” didn’t feel forced, and instead made more cared for, subtle references to the issue. It complemented GW2 lore and was more of a joke, rather than being a proselytising aside.

My god I’m downright terrified to think what would happen if Anet put a male homosexual relationship there. Actually there is, in Sylvari storyline, and nobody seemed to kitten about that one, even though the 1 guy implied “he loves me” or something. Terrifying agenda!

The amount of hate, bashing, wrong statistics being made up, and downright over analyzing, and blowing these 2 freaking NPC-s out of proportion is truly mind-boggling.

It’s not like Anet didn’t write a whole essay a few pages back trying to educate you about this matter. Everyone I know in game is totally cool with this, and we wouldn’t have this pointless thread about agendas and “political correctness” if it were a hetero couple.

Seems only the forum people, aka the miniscule amount of player-base are the ones who whine the loudest and those opinions should NOT be taken as a collective voice of community who wishes one of them dies, or worse, that such things shouldn’t be in game because of reasons my mind cannot understand.

It’s so freaking sad Anet has to read all this kitten.

I really like their relationship. People who say it’s fan service or being forced need to loosen up a bit and just enjoy the game. If you don’t like it, ignore it. LS is optional. You haven’t seen blatant fan service till you watched your average anime. And there is nothing wrong with adding those things in game, and enjoying them.

Keep Kas and Jory Anet They + other characters are too awesome to be discarded so easily, and frankly only characters I care about since Tybalt.

Also, how can you honestly hate on this? This is too cute.

Add some life to this small pub. How about putting those Aetherblade Retreat holographic Go Go dancers in there along with a jukebox with a selection of music.

I hadn’t played this game in months because I got bored after dinging 80. Now I picked it up few days ago, logged to my lvl 80 character. I finished my personal storyline for the first time, got me some sweet new epic gear and now I’m pumped up to do dailies and get achievements and roaming around, trying to do World Completion. And the LC seems interesting too. Edge of the Mists let me catch up to the Scarlet thingie storyline and now I’m waiting for it to continue. This game has improved so much.

Short and sweet: Feels fun again!

Part of me has to wonder if Vorpp was wrong in his assumption that she brought something that was already within her, or alternatively if the Dream isn’t much more vast and connected to the Sylvari than we know. I mean, it sounds like something more than a Dragon in my mind when the Pale Tree’s talking about those forces.

I want to see Caithe make out with a thundershrimp, but you don’t see me making an all caps thread about it.

It doesn’t matter if a company’s customers think they’re not trustworthy? And you used to run a business? I really hope you didn’t have that same attitude with your own customers.

Not the customers in general, just you, the individual.

In any market, some customers’ loyalty is locked in. They’ll continue using your product for as long as you remain in business. Some will never be satisfied no matter what you do. You focus on the middle group, the ones who decide from moment to moment whether they will use your product or not.

It’s simply not possible to please everyone, and if you spend all your resources chasing after those fringe customers who will never be pleased, you’ll spend more money on them than you can possible make by turning them to your side, and go out of business.

The devs have tried to explain this to forum posters before, but there isn’t really a polite way to say “you don’t matter.” The LS method has been extremely successful with their target market, other additions to the game like fractals and ascended gear are pleasing to the players they are intended for, and overall the game is healthy and doing well. There are players who are not interested in these things, and most of them move on to other games.

A few come to the forums and make a lot of noise because they believe if they make enough of a fuss the devs will make GW2 into the game they want to play. But the decisions have already been made, plans laid out for this year and the next several years, and the course of the game is not going to change to become what you want it to become.

For the tiny, but extremely vocal, minority who is wants GW2 to become a completely different game, you will be disappointed. Because ultimately, the game was not designed for you and it will never be the game you want it to be.

When the game launched 1 silver was a decent amount of money. Today, not so much. As the economy inflates (yes inflation) there is less reason to do those events.

The events take 5-10 minutes and pay 1 silvers. That’s up to 12 silvers an hour! Or two gems worth of gold!

I got a pain in my heart for every timeI see a nightmare tower event where you have to free the captured engineers. It really makes me wonder why Anet keeps these events around. Nobody ever do them again………ow wait, We all complained for more permanent content in the living story over and over!

The result, even more dead events cause we actually didnt care at all!!

One thing I do on my server (and it may not work on all servers, but it usually works on Tarnished Coast) is that I’ll call out an event I need help with in map chat. Usually enough people show up to do the event, even if it’s only one or two. If there’s a champion involved you’ll almost always get enough people.

I would say that was a rather logical reaction from Kasmeer and Marjory.

I was under the impression that a mated pair was more or less a married couple. Which would make the reaction logical if they are talking about marriage.

Or simply the absurdity of the question completely out of the blue.

I started during the headstart a year and a half ago and frankly if you where not with the mob of people leveling you always ran into events that had not been completed. What really do you expect? It is not possible to do all the events, it is not meant for all the events to be done all the time which is why there is a difference in completed and incomplete graphics and npc chat.

Speaking of Trahearne, where the hell has he been all this time? You’d think he’d be helping us with Scarlet.

Yea, I agree with this. If it was up to me, I would have done elites before healing skills since some classes are really pigeonholed into certain elites with almost every build (ex: Engineers and Supply Crate).

Guess we’ll finally have a valid reason for all the tags in LA!

I see this as being one of only 3 possible answers for the reaction of the lionguard.
1) See quote (Captains Counsel is replaced by mesmered Watchknights)
2) Captains Counsel is working for Scarlet
3) Extremely poor writing that assumes charactors are one dimensional and never learn any lessons based on past experience

I mean c’mon, how would the lionguard even think to respond like that given recent history. Let’s recap, shall we?
- Player charactor warns of a Zhiatan attack and are shrugged off. Then Lion’s Arch is attacked (Personal Story) and we must save them (along with the pact)
- Karkas attack
- Southsun is attacked (which falls in Lion Arch’s jurisdiction) by Canach
- Scarlet attacks the city and kills a counselor
- Scarlet JUST broke out Mia Trinn who orchestrated the attack on Lions Arch, obviously still holds a grudge against the city, and has a fairly large fighting force at her disposal.
- A “thumper” is found IN Lion’s Arch, placed there by a known hostile force and said “thumper” has shown activity now
- Evon Gnashblade, at the least a respected business man with ties into the community, has been warning of an attack for months now

How much more evidence does one need to at least make preparations to protect the city (the sole job of the lionguard in the first place)?

My theory is (going a little bit further then only the destruction):

-LA will be completely destroyed (by Scarlet and Co).
-On the ashes a domain of evilness will emerge
-A new sown evil pale tree will grow in size and strenght under influence of magical energy (leylines anyone?)
-There will be an exodus of the survivors into the dominion of winds (which will be opened up by the tengu who finaly made up their minds who the good the bad and the ugly are.)
-Behind the scenes a certain jungle dragon orchested the whole thing (with the use of a certain stubborn narcistic sylvary who has developed a split personality under his increasing influence.
-Somewhere in between all this events the Ceara side of the well known Sylvary will see and hate what she (the Scarlet side) has done (because its not her own will) but it will be too late too far. It won’t end well for her.
-And finaly, whe will be getting a new city and a new race (Tengu).
-And ofcourse a whole bunch of newly emerged evilness to fight.
-Lateron the Whole Maguma Wastes will be added.

What happens:

We can start a living world event that will bring our group to the mission where we run from portal to portal and close them joining the new edge of destiny. (Who will absolutely get a name by the end of this season) Then scarlet will use her mass destruction weapon to deal heavy damage to LA setting it aflame and starts digging down somewhere in the water creating a maelstrom.

And then we will travel downwards with her drilling device while her alliances fight us. In the end, she will face us herself to finally show us how we achieved nothing. And as we defeat her, the drill enters a huge underground cave that is overgrown with green poisonous plants and masses of husks. Thats where we encounter Mordremoth peacefully feeding on the lay lines. And then he flies off mysteriously leaving LA not further harmed but turning it into a lush jungle (explaining the Artwork in the developer streams). And then everybody wonder why it didn’t attack LA. And then we find out that scarlets body was never found…

And btw they can’t destroy old LA… Quaggans live there… who could…

Idk, personally this release is one of my favorite in a long time, although I have to agree that the content itself is really fast. I cannot say that I dislike that though. I mean I much prefer 1 hour of content that drops this much information and character development then two weeks of achievement grinding for next to no new information or character development. I agree there might be a happy medium somewhere, but this is a step in the right direction in my book.

Sub fees make me feel like my characters are being held hostage.

No, I support the game when I can afford to by buying gems.

If it had a monthly sub, I’d be gone. I’d also feel bad for not playing ever day, Like I’m wasting money.

I hate subs, they feel like another bill, you can get everything gemstore wise, in game, with patience. Fantastic of arenanet to do this.

I’d like to elaborate on the brainstorming that the CDI’s facilitate, and the time zones that most of the brainstorming is done in. Being on the other side of the world and posting at a certain time (I have no option as to when I post, it’s the only time I can) I feel I miss out on the majority of the ideas thrown about and can’t really contribute to the ongoing nature of the threads because most of the time, someone else will have come up with my idea already..

One thing you may want to attempt, that has helped some of the rest of us:

If someone else posts your idea, don’t be afraid to go ahead an quote them and expand upon the idea with pieces they may not have thought to post. When you do this, you follow along with the exact purpose that these CDIs are for: Brainstorming. Also, once the person sees that you’ve gotten them (even if it’s much later) they’ll want to reply to you and, most likely, expand on your additions.

This constant back and forth, and adding to the ideas, sets up the best discussions we’ve ended up having. Those are also the posts and ideas that the Devs seems to notice the most and then they join in too.

TL;DR? Even if you think you can only add a little (due to your Time Zone) POST ANYWAY!! =D
