Question: Does having 2 Guardians make you better/more experienced than someone who has 1 Guardian only? If yes, how?

Not targeting anyone in particular here, but I honestly think someone who has clocked 3000 hours into playing Guardian is more experienced at playing one than someone who has clocked in 150 hours on each of their 2 Guardians. This is just my opinion though. I just dont get how having 10 different lvl80 Guardians is a measure of you having more experience than others at playing Guardian.

You basically just explained it yourself. Why buy a ton of gear when you can just swap characters to one that is ready to go?

These last few “balance” updates have completely missed the mark.

It’s ridiculous that Rangers are still the bottom of the barrel, that Guardians are still pigeon holed into 1 playstyle, that thieves still have perma stealth and very low Risk/Reward Ratios, that Ele’s still have issues since their initial big nerf last year… the list goes on and on.

I’m not sure how much more “Constructive Feedback” you want Anet… we’ve been giving it to you since Beta and you still haven’t gotten it right, in the eyes of the general population… er, I mean, your forum community, for which you continually ask for our feedback then tell us we’re the minority and our opinions don’t matter.

Just no. Are you even aware that all of those skills are on melee weapons? Melee (of any profession) needs the mobility to get into the fight, stay in the fight , and, yes, to escape, because that is part of the overall dynamic of the games combat.

Not true, bows shoot through targets and spam conditions trough targets. With the right sigils and allies, no weapon does more damage against mobs. No weapon comes close even…

Oh, boy..

Please, don’t even try to argue with me about bows in WvWvW roaming. I’ve put about 150 hours in roaming with Bow specs on WvWvW, killed tons of players with them.
Still, after 19567 death because of weapon not working, skill breaking, pet being useless and trying to craft working tactics with my builds vs. decent opponents in meta builds, being roflstomped because of broken class….

I gave up and came back to my Necromancer.

I do quite fine w/ my SB + S/WH Crit Bleed Build. I can toss out 14-16 stacks of bleed in about 3-4s… w/o the use of a pet and while facing someone.

The reason you’re on your Necro is becuase it’s EzMode like Warrior. Just saying… and not judging. We all like ezmode from time to time.

They’ve done ~nothing~ to want to keep me here…. Community is a very big thing and it’s something Anet really doesn’t understand… it’s what kept us paying for DAOC for 10 years even though we stopped playing… because we believed in the people who were creating the content.

Nothing has changed for the Guardian specifically. Condi meta is still there, but it’s not as bad as other classes have been brought down.

The Guardian is still the vision of balance, for which they maneuver every other class around…. so I don’t think the Guardian will ~EVER~ see any changes worthwhile….

I rolled a Warrior for fun over new years… took about 10 min from start to finish.

The difference truly is staggering. A damage Warrior vs damage Guardian… there is ZERO comparison. The survivability, mobility, damage negation…

On all fronts too, 1v1’s, small groups, 5v15+, blob vs blob…. Ofcourse, I enjoy throwing myself into those crazy 5vs10+ scenarios’ and I could never survive that w/ a DPS Meditation Guard…. or rather, I was allways the guy kiting the group of angry 6+ on me and constantly having to rely on my grp to rally me…. as Mediation / DPS guards lack survivability…. severely.

So to answer your question… No, nothing has changed w/ the Guardian. Things have changed w/ other classes.

13k-14k hps = I solo roam just for video’s or have a full team for support.

Me and my roaming buddy somehow keep getting shafted by 5+ of you guys. Even when we hit a group of 10 EB you guys come in from the side and target me (3rd SS).

Anyways for some reason I keep thinking you guys are going to turn around your attitudes and actually be enjoyable to fight but I don’t think thats possible anymore. Stay classy.

It’s one thing to just get steam rolled as the rest of the group comes to, it’s quite another to keep bringing more and more people to a fight or to run in and /stomp in a duel (/bow) that you weren’t even apart of.

Sounds like you’ve just been the product of bad luck / timing.

You should know that BSty & AD typically run w/ four to five. So if you see 2, you should expect another 2 to be coming… most likely just catching up to the group.

Good stuff, I run a more pet focused variant if that build (0/30/20/0/20) so here’s my thoughts.

1) I can’t play without signet of the hunt. It makes kiting people SO much easier and it makes your pet much more threatening as he can actually catch your target.

2) Thought about rabid gear? It gives cond and crit so you’ll get even more sharpened edges/sigil bleeds. You are a little more glassy but it still gives toughness and synergises well with undead runes.

3) Sharpening stone, while annoyingly CD gated, gives you monster burst potential. Stacking 4 bleeds with one shot is frightening.

Other than that, i like.

My Longbow + Sword/WH build that uses a variation of Carrion & Dire… very fun, very fragile. Stay in stealth alot of time.

Shield is very viable.

Mace/Shield is good, but you need to run Boon Duration.

Also, it really is more of a skirmishing set in WvW, not a zerging set nor a 1v1…. think 3-5vsX.

Shield 4 w/ boon duration is 9s of Protection.

The AOE on Skill #4 is not exactly AOE though. It shoots a wave in front of you and only has a range of 600. It would definitely be an improvement if skill #4 was AOE.

Rolled a Ranger awhile back and decided after being told to put this out here, to actually do just that…

My primary build I run with is the SB+S/W Crit/Bleed. There’s a lot of variations of course and honestly, it’s nothing game-changing or new. It’s what just works for me and the playstyle I enjoy.

I haven’t really changed anything on my SB+S/W Crit Bleed build in over 6 months, still works as intended.

I will put this out here…. it is NOT “the most epic” 1v1 build or ZvZ build. In fact, I really dislike both those aspect of WvW as most people will “build for it”… especially those 1v1’ers. I like to take a build that works for “most” situations, then let my skill determine my fate (which, currently, is lacking on the Ranger! lol).

You can run – On Swap (9s cooldown) / On Crit (2s typically) / Permanent (None) / On Kill (None).

Stop with the “AH is for new people” already..
It’s in the grandmaster line. No where does it state “this is for new players only”.
It’s a trait, it’s there to be used by anyone who wants to.

It’s like saying only new players use Selfless Daring because they don’t have any friends to heal them.

I really do think half of you forget that there are a large portion who play MMO’s for enjoyment, and not to fuel their ego about being “best” or “better” than others. If someone wants to play AH then let them, there’s nothing wrong with it whatsoever.

Because while your team is suffering to get out enough damage to kill stuff fast enough you are sitting happy with your useless skill less build not giving a fudge about anything. Being a guardian is about being a ‘selfless defender’ not a self-healing-waste-of-potential. If you want to play AH in pve go ahead but just know that it’s like a wet fish flopping on the side of a boat

Not at all. I run AH in Fractals all the time and it’s great. My damage is still decent and I can survive easily enough to continue to do damage/heal others.
Plus, I run Hammer, when traited I can have my auto-attack symbol down 100% of the time if I don’t use #2. This applies constant -33% damage to my group.
And again.. you’re forgetting, not everyone plays to be as effective as possible, some people actually play for enjoyment, you know?

do you slot in utilities dependent on situation or shouts for AH procs? You don’t need AH if you’re playing properly since you will be mitigating damage at the entire party well enough to not need to heal, well, yourself. Also, I find fun in efficiency so I don’t see why you bring the fun argument in. Meta is fun.

You’re thinking about only yourself. Not everyone shares the same opinion as you. Why should everyone else be pidgeon holed into playing what’s most effective because you think it’s the correct way to play?

If you’re meant to play a certain way, then wouldn’t Anet purposely make everyone play said way, and not give them the option to play differently?

Odd you would say he’s only thinking about himself when he’s advocating a build with more team support and you’re advocating a build that specializes in keeping only you alive.

We get that not everyone wants to run a meta, and that’s fine. But when a person is asking for advice we will still give it to them. Yes, we are often operating under the assumption that everyone wants fast, smooth runs. As Obtena and various people have pointed out, not everyone finds that fun. Ok, that’s fine, then you could just say if you want faster, easier runs choose the the meta build(s). It has been proven beyond a shadow of doubt that this is the best build for fast, easy runs. But if you aren’t interested in faster, smoother runs there are plenty of options including the AH build that excels in keeping you alive in trade of dps and team support.

Funny thing is, all you PvE Elitest `presume` everyone is running in guild groups or w/ very experience dungeon runners. =]

For the average pugger, it most likely IS better to be more focused over healing due to the FACT your teammates ~won’t~ know the subtleties of what you’re provided (IE Aegis, Blocks, etc).

All your all blanket statements do nothing to help people.
