So you are saying you have come across 10 precursors already already?

I was looking at the TP and noticed that these weapons are being posted for ridiculous prices..mostly for 8-12g. I am referring to the ones that only say “Greatsword” or “Axe”.

Is there a bug in the forge that make these give a better chance at precursors?

Wouldn’t it be a really easy fix to make guild missions instanced? This is how I see it working.

1. Set off Bounty.
2. Location is still open world and needs to be found.
3. Once at location and engaged everyone in said guild is sent to its own instance and scaling can now be better implemented.

This would allow any guild, not matter the size to get a Boss that scales correctly to the number of people in that guild.

And to ask a dumb question, for clarification: What color are exotic items? I’ve been salvaging all of my weapons/armor (when I replace them with new ones) regardless of rarity type, so I’ll start selling on TP and vendors. Good tip!

Exotic are the orange items. But if you are replacing items they are now probably ‘soul bound’ and no longer able to sell on the TP. But salvaging items you have no more use for is probably the best thing, unless the vendor price if higher than the TP price.

I am in the same boat, I can only play 10-12 hours a week and also after a legendary. I have been playing since launch and want to say been grinding since Oct./Nov. I now have enough gold to buy the mats I need for my legendary, Lodestones/Runestones/T6 mats to make my gifts. The one major obstacle for people like us will be the precursor.

Made all my gold grind events in Orr, mainly the Penitant/Shelter/Jofast rotation. I usually make about 2-4 gold a day. Since I am going for my legendary I am keeping all my Ectos/T6 mats I need still, capped on some. Capped on all T5 mats so I sell all of those on the TP.

Vendor all White/Blue leather and cloth items, salvage all White/Blue Metal and Wood items to makes gifts or sell on TP. I vender all Green items. Some people like to put all greens int he Mystic Forge but its a huge gamble and may end up making less than you would have got vendoring them.

Salvage or TP all RARE/YELLOW items…do not vendor them. Sell all exotics on the TP, usually not worth risk of salvaging them.

If you can only play two hours a day you have to decide if you are really willing to watch others pass you up on your adventure to getting a legendary….its totally worth it to me :-), but make no mistake…it is a huge grind….if you are not rich :-).

I went with +20% gold from monsters (Utility Infusion). Throw in a omnomberry bar and I almost always get 1s plus from mobs when they drop money.

What I am doing is farming pent/shelter/jofast. Tons of Mithril and sacs. I only use the excess mithril and sacs to make rare great swords to throw in the forge. So instead of losing money I make slightly less. I guess you could also salvage for ectos to sell also doing this.

I didn’t lvl my armor/weapon smith til after my 2nd 80 so I probably had a little more mats then you have when I lvl’d my crafting. I am also assuming you saved all your mats.

But I had to spend about 10-15 gold, definitely no more than 20g to lvl both. One rule I used that worked great for me and other crafters, refine as much as you can each tier til it is greyed out, then use discovery to get yourself to the next tier. Also, try discovering recipes that use two different mats, example…Hammer, needs a wood component and a metal component because wood is much cheaper and you can sell your medal left overs for a much greater profit if you wish.

I find this highly doubtful. You are saying you had 2k gold, you could have just bought the Legendary..or the precursor for 650g.

I for one don’t expect to get one(precursor) to drop or get one(precursor) in the Mystic Toilet. I will grind til I have the gold or craft rare great swords as I get the mats and put them in the toilet.

But I have to say…there really should be a more sure fire way of getting one.

This is one of those questions that no one really can answer for you.

Me for example. I can only play about 12 hours a week, sometimes 15 hours. I am going after Twilight.

I still need 100% Map(at 50%), 450 badges and the precursor (Dusk). I have enough gold to buy my lodestones/runestones/T6 mats I need(Maxed on 3, 150+ on the rest) and have armor/weaponsmith to 400. Buying the mats I need would pretty much make me broke, meaning if they don’t implement the scavenger hunt this year I would have another4-6 months of grind for gold for the kitten precursor. I really really like the the way Twilight looks.

So for me…it is worth it.

There might be a way, but you will not be able to sell it on the TP, only put it in your account bank and pick it up with another toon…maybe.

You would have to add a non soul bound upgrade to it, which may make it “soulbound on use”.

Obviously its possible with Anets track record. That seems like a huge amount for a weapon in that lvl range, the skin must be awesome.

Man, I hope they stay the same…all I pretty much need is the precursor.

This is true right now BUT what if legendary weapons become ascended? It seems a little too close to pay2win if this happens.

Well this might be true because Legendary items will become ascended, will have to wait to see if Ascended items become just as common as exotics are now, if they do, I think my argument will carry forward.

I kinda see where you are coming from…I consider myself hardcore, but can only dedicate about 10-12 hours a week playing the game…give or take and wanna say I have been grinding since November, so I guess I would call myself casual core. I have just about enough gold to buy everything I don’t have for the gifts minus a few SP’s and world completion. The precursor will take the longest to get and by the time I can afford one there will be a hell of a lot more people with them or the scavenger hunt will be out and again, there will be a hell of a lot more people with them.

But they won’t make me change my mind about getting at all, why? Because the one I want (Twilight) IMHO, is the most epic weapon I have seen any game I have played. WHEN I get one, I will not matter if a couple dozen people around me have one, because I will have one of the most epic weapons I have ever seen.

So if you want one, you think its the best weapon you have ever seen, then go for it. Because no matter what game you play…there will TONS of people the the stuff you think is awesome.

As I read the statement you will still get one rare/per boss/per account. If this this is true they will still be farmed, which is good, but just wont have people getting…I don’t know…30+ rares per day. This is a good change.

I know it didn’t mention drop rates…but will other drop rates be affected by this changes…specifically precursors/exotics?

Here’s a quick test that I recommend to Amun Ra & any others who thinks the market spinning out of control:

simultaneously:
place 1 buy offer for ecto at: 1s, 2s and 3s less than current ‘buy now’ price.
sell 1 glob ecto ea at: 1s, 2s, 3s above the current ‘buy now’ price.

Monitor each purchase or sale at 4hr, 8hr, and 24hr. Which ones are left after 24hrs? What’s the new ‘buy now’ price?

Solution: If you have more than two transactions incomplete at 24hrs, market flipping cannot generate profits.

You fail to realize that it cost nothing to place a buy order…leaving that loop hole wide open for market manipulation. All you need is the bank roll to do it.

How the hell did I get owned? In no way shape or form was I owned or proven wrong. The amound of ectos passing through the TP has nothing do prove for or against market manipulation.

What was the quoted amount? 140k? I would liket point out that 60k+ of those ectos are at buy orders for 3s or less…nothing to do with my point and does kitten to disprove market manipulation. People are going off topic by arguing over the current price, not my point.

My point is that the prices obviously got to low for some people in that particular market and it is my opinion are trying to manipulate it back up by keep the sell prices and buy orders at a certain price range…only that sweet spot matters…not those at the bottom or those at the top.

Y’know, there’s this thing called “market equilibrium”… Look it up. What you’re seeing with ectos is that, due to the large supply of ectos, suppliers and buyers have slowly crept towards an equilibrium price where the quantity demanded approximately equals the quantity supplied, and the bidding price for ectos is nearly the same as the selling price. That said, there are still many reasons why a person might prefer to buy at a mere 20c cheaper. For one thing, maybe they placed their order a while ago when the price was higher, and they haven’t chosen to remove it quite yet. Or maybe they’re trying to get a legendary, and want to save every coin they possibly can in doing so. By a hundred ectos at 20 c less- that’s saving 20 silver right there, which, IMHO, isn’t bad.

I know that whenever I get ectos, I just find it easier to sell on the spot- but that’s just relative to my personal opportunity costs.
