You can always just LOS/kite the guards away and avoid overextending. It should not be a problem unless they get the jump on you and you are in the middle of the guards but this is why you should save cooldowns against NPCs. Always kill scouts because their blind utterly sucks.
Just try to peel them off the camp. If they’re unwilling to, they’re either nor that good or not spec’d for roaming (probably just a scout) and you should have the advantage anyways. In any case, it’s probably not worth the time and just move on.

Yes we do. We ask people scouting if they need it and usually it is obvious who scouts and gives info.
But I always try to invite people to squad. If they don’t want to, that’s their choice.
Also, forcing scouts to blob with you is one of the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard, as it’s not likely if the blobs are big enough 2-3 people are going to matter and it also renders the group blind.

Yes DLB got better after the patch but they still have a long way to go to be really playable and after everyone was asking for alpines to come back i cannot fathom that this thread even exists.
They are aware of the server population imbalance and that some of the merges are not perfect yet. Thats why its a beta and things will change. They have done more for wvw in the past two weeks than we have seen in years. And most of these are good changes so don’t bite off their hand now.
Indeed I think this merits some patience.
This is a far cry from HoT release when we had nothing concrete and we simply didn’t know how long we’d spend with that version of DBL. There didn’t seem to be any kind of plan or sound reasoning.
While the current direction still leaves much to be desired, we can at least see it’s going somewhere beyond some kind of logical backing that was clearly derived from feedback given out.
It’s perfectly reasonable to be impatient and show disdain with what appears to be the former approach, but when the later one actually shows some real effects, I think it deserves more than a week or two before people threatening to quit.
Not to mention this lays the foundation for any implementation of any new map down the line, since hopefully history won’t repeat itself.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
It wasn’t nearly to that level because users were frequently banned/modded and that is because you need your game account to log in, making you semi-accountable for things. That was just my experience.
Then again, I think you could argue it took too much moderator effort.

lol yea I know of gw2wvw and it is entertaining and do respect its existence since it provided a place for the WvW community even in its darkest times and people post funny pvf pics but it’s a bit too wild for my tastes. Under-moderation can be as problematic as over moderation. I mean, if I wanted people to call me and my friends homophobic and racist slurs, I’d just go back to battle.net…. or PvP. I kid.
There was just a good balance in the official forums thread matchups though I am aware that the powers that be disagree. This game was made to be pretty carebearish relatively speaking. Not an insult. Plus being official also helps.

Being able to treb the keep from towers makes the towers much more strategic.
It allows a smaller group to aggressively pressure a keep as the bigger group has to possibly attack a fortified location. In addition the reinforcements can arrive and also use the tower as a rallying point and possibly more supplies.
Of course, it also makes sense that the people in the keep should be able to fire back too because having no counterplay is pretty lame.

Well, that’s why they’re bringing it back.
We’ll be beta testing the changes, even though we shouldn’t have to. However, given the state the game is, I say just get it going now and move forward.

Well, frankly, I think there’s something wrong if you can’t express yourself without profanity in a legitimate discussion. Now, Chak Acid. That’s a bother. I generally am spending too much of all the currencies on things that I don’t have enough to spare buying keys.

Yea, I imagine it would be easier but that comes with actually figuring out the thing which is the key to most of them. But I admit that I went for silver for most of them and never gave them a sho after.

Oh, man, I don’t mean this to be a jerk or anything, but you’re doing that completely wrong, that’s why gold is so hard for you. I’m actually super impressed you managed silver like that. Every time you see one of those glowing yellow sparkballs? All you have to do there is press 1 to body-slam them, no tricks, from any angle you like because it auto-aims once i activates. Get a slight distance between you just in case though. There might be some lag that causes them to glitch, but with a few retries you should get it right. That alone shaves tens of seconds off your existing time. Your way is actually considerably harder for a slower time.
I think you missed the point of the post. The annotations did point out you could jet through, after all. Or the rest of my post, lol.
My intention was to point out that you can get silver without any of the hyperbole in OP’s post. In fact, I almost walked the whole thing. I delibrately accounted for the complaints of not enough dexterity to perform the charges, accuracy in clicking, and latency— anyone can do it. If you think this video is bad and you could do better, then good for you. That was my point. Also this thread is just about silver.
But thanks for the tips for gold. My masteries are maxed so I have no need atm, but maybe sometime in the future will encourage me to try. I never thought I was going to max my masteries either, so…. There’s often a way eventually for most things.

To me, some things demand effort and perhaps even so called “challenge”, even in non-interactive forms of entertainment.
For example, even when watching a movie or story, there may be hidden meanings and messages that take effort to understand. Failing to understand them might be a failing on the creator’s part to make these things enticing enough but if the audience doesn’t put in their end for effort, it’s not always the piece of work’s fault if they choose not to spoonfeed everything.
As for video games, well, I would hope my actions have a meaningful impact on what happens. Otherwise, why bother?

Some adventures I’d definitely write off too much, but my friend and I got Leyline silver after a few minutes. (Gold is ridiculous though), But for silver, you don’t even need to be fast. You just need to know where to jump. The thing is this race is so short you could fail 30 times and not waste much.
And note that I have never even finished things like Sanctum Scramble, much less get a silver.

I think a problem is people link to the most l33t gold videos and others see them and are like “oh no, I can never do something like that” and get discouraged. My goal here is to break the thing down to its most basic state so you may realize the bare minimum isn’t anything out of your reach. I’m not trying to show off because there’s way better paths. I’m trying to show that you’re probably capable of much more than this, even if you haven’t realized it yet.

1.) Overall it seems really nice; it allows me to obtain various currency that I would not have wanted to grind in pve for.
2.) Seems alright. The inactivity timer is generous and often encourages hanging around until the next tick.
3.) A bit slow; it does require quite a bit of time. It’s fairly low effort though.
4.) No real issue; there seems to be an overflow of level tomes though.
5.) Tracks that are more unique to WvW and produce wvw specific rewards. The most obvious ones are skins, boxes that contain superior siege, and food of which you seem to have an accurate idea of given the wvw-related boxes in the game. I’d also like to see the existence of ascended wvw trinkets/backpiece with selectable stats.

Support in of in itself does not qualify you for loot; when you support someone, a portion of their damage gets credited to you. So not only do you need to support people; you need to support useful people too.

for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Meh. Still needs more remodeling.
Ultimately though, as long as they provide a large enough space to fight and enough people on the map doing their thing, I’ll be okay. TBH, I wouldn’t even mind a queue if it led to something good. I’m honestly a very simple person when it comes to gaming needs.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
I use basic AA in the general direction of the enemy and also heal the ally. This usually gives people time to react and inform me of their intentions. If the enemy is a roamer of any decent caliber this will do very little to them , but if the ally is being ganked then this may drive them off.
What usually happens is that they back off to a distance and I get the note that they’re dueling. They reset and then we all go our separate ways without much drama. I hope anyone that does kind of thing has to accept the fact that they will be interrupted.
I do this because it’s generally not needed to blow all my cooldowns to beat someone in a 2v1 which would just make it more dangerous if there were more enemies. Also as a general note I usually let the ally finish them off in any case so that would probably remove any ambiguity whatsoever.
If either side attempts to stomp, then this duel is over and business resumes with red being dead.
Although since OP stated that no objective is in danger, it is highly unlikely that I would be in this situation at all if they’re dueling in obscure places.

Yay, it’s my build xD
For roaming, medic gyro isn’t as good as healing turret. Usually I’d take healing turret because of condis. :S
Elixir S you can also ditch because you don’t need that much invuls in small scales typically. Usually self regulating defenses is good enough. What you want to replace is strictly up to you, but typically you’ll have to use it to stop being kited. I would go with a gyro of your choice and also take final salvo. Also consider rapid regeneration if you do that. Toolkit can be a thing, since sneak + pull is pretty cheesy.
I feel sneak gyro is the superior as it makes it harder for the enemy to anticipate your moves; as well as trolling thieves to all hell with the toolbelt. It really depends on what your friends are up to— you can still mortar if your friends have good CC and could stealth you.

I would like to formally apologize to Mike O’Brien.
Apparently, we do really have many people that are so into pve that they not only not want pvp, they actually abhor it to the point where it violates their game mode; all duelers and roamers need to go to where they are out of sight of karma trains in order to not frighten the zerglings. Wait, that’s not enough. They need to stop taking up queue space, and not those 20 people that are just hoping the tag will not defend the keep so they can retake it again for some karma, an easy daily, and reward track progress while looking at “stimulating” videos with the other monitor and not bothering to look out for enemies or even spend their supply building things.
I was wrong. You may now stop reading this post and continue firing your cannon at that 1 person. I think that Arrow Cart over there is going to expire in 5 minutes. But it’s okay. I sell them for the best prices on the TP!
But seriously, this whole thing reeks of control issues. Must every member that is on the map be forced to follow the will of the blob? Or is it because people will not bow down to the PPT gods are heathens that can not be controlled, and thus too dangerous? And again, you certainly have the right to take these folks off your lawn, kill them, maybe even send an emote at them. But again, what makes you so important that you decided that you are justified, and they are wrong?

If it were based on the Central Tyria mastery, it would be a greater hassle for WvW players who do not want to grind out the xp for it.
It is much easier to farm 20 wvw ranks doing actual WvW, then to find those awful, awful CT mastery points AND grind xp. The later is absolutely not fun at all. I pretty much left those masteries for dead once I got autoloot
Plus there’s quite a few wvw’ers that could get it instantly as well.
Wvw reward chest gives +50% exp. 12 defense events and Teq with the exp boost maxes all masteries in a few days.
The bigger issue is getting the mastery points unless you could get some from wvw.
Which would be by and large, a waste of time, even excluding the mastery points. I will probably never do teq again. =p (Have 3 Sunless weapons under my name) I am aware that the mastery points are the harder part, and the combination of both may make it annoying.

(Them not accommodating you is selfish, but you not accommodating them… no?)
The difference is they DONT NEED accommodation, if they want to duel they can go to any number of places including # guild halls, obsidian sanctum, a non queued borderland, edge of the mists #. A player actually trying to do zerg vs zerg fights and capture player contested objectives in EBG has no choice but to wait in the queue for that specific map
Duelers have a choice to not inconvenience other people, yet they choose the selfish option because no one can stop them
Perhaps they have exhausted those options? Do people maliciously wait hours in queue to prevent others from joining?
And yea, I view people dictating who is more important without any objective criteria to be selfish as being a bit selfish as well. Appealing to the supposedly impacted people of which probably consists of a chunk of people that are most likely of zero importance to you beyond this argument is just a cheap appeal to emotion argument.
It is honestly fine if you hate them for making you wait in queue. I just find it disingenous to speak beyond that in terms of scope.
And to me, with this being an aging game with a declining population that is only recently seen a resurgence I don’t think exclusion is particularly healthy.

Honestly, this is why I don’t bother investing in anything at the start of an expansion or major release because chances are they will be adjusted. And I’ve donated quite a few materials to my guild— I don’t want any of it back. I’ve also profited quite a bit selling materials asap at release because I knew that even without changes, that was the highest that would be. Should I have to give that gold back?
Another example. I bought the Watchwork Pick a while back to gain easy access to a difficult material— sprockets. When they became a map reward, my stock of them dwindled in price. I was pretty upset, but then I remembered how many of them I sold for quite a bit in the past.
Not too long after the shared inventory slots came out, they went on sale for even less. I could have saved those gems instead of getting them right away. But hindsight is 20/20.
Point is, you pay a premium to be first.

Lol……..
There’s many people that enjoy large scale pvp and the teamwork that it requires.
Then there’s people that need to justify running over duelers. I mean you’re a zerg, you’re a train, it’s nothing unusual. Often times I’ll run over people without noticing and vice versa. It just happens; there’s no need to justify it and duelers dueling in a contested area are asking for it. Sure, but honestly I am not sure why one needs to claim the moral high ground, of accusing people of being selfish (Them not accommodating you is selfish, but you not accommodating them… no?) I mean why the vitrol? I mean do you keep tabs on them 24/7? What if they did your PPT 90% of the time and stopped to fight someone?
I mean that behavior is just totally toxic, and it seems that it happens when there needs to be something to blame, like a few people out of the whole map queue are causing failure, when it might, just might be the big zerg’s fault for not being good enough. Back when PvE and WvW were linked more closely, we’d have people going into PvE’ and berate them for not helping. Yep. Very helpful. But then again, if you’re using it to chase down solo players…

With Elixir S + Self Regulating Defenses + HGH, I can get up to 7 seconds of invuln every 48 seconds when taking heavy focus, so I usually only die if I overextend too far. You can ditch Elixir Gun for Rocket Boots, Toolkit, or whatever the heck suits your fancy but I prefer the supportive properties and also sudden burst of Elixir Gun; usually nobody thinks of Acid Bomb as a killer. And you can certainly spec tankier than this, but I feel plenty of staying power already.

Durability runes are a very effective way in staying alive that seems unequaled due to the higher boon duration = more stability and protection as well as it giving you protection when hit.
Durability runes and a few of the sigils offered with HoT are one reason to buy HoT. They are game changers in WvW at least in my opinion. My Druid loves them. Also another reason to get the expansion is new elites and what not.
Just chiming in that Durability runes are, well, great and worth the PvE frustration
It certainly is; I think the best runes to use for frontline; but since it is locked behind HoT content, I don’t expect everyone to go for them. It is one of the easier things to go for especially with the recent pve currency buffs.
Before the stability change that just happened lately, I think melandru runes were still a strong competitor even though “stun duration” seemed to be too specific, but as stability is much more reliable now, I think that’s no longer as essential unless your group is doing very badly in the cleanse department.
Basically, it was removed from pvp for a reason. =p

While a bit dated due to metabattle not really having much work put into wvw, this is a good place to start. There may be some deviations you can take but overall the traits and stats really haven’t changed over the longest time.
There’s 3 things I’d personally differ. I don’t recommend the strength runes— durability, hoelbrak, or melandru will ensure better survival. Also, I’d suggest GS over hammer for general use, but hammer is also good. Finally, shelter tends to be better for living longer as well though receive the light also has merits.

Not too bad of a wait for the borderlands really. If you want to dodge the queues, be there before reset in Lion’s Arch and keep an eye on when it resets.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Well, you can’t use a hammer or gyros if you don’t take scrapper which is kind of a problem— you’d have to pick up an extra weapon that you won’t be using for long (probably rifle). There really isn’t a good base engineer frontline build. Would be like my old one:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQFAUlUUh6rYtWwdLQ7FL3FV4EGQZG4CWABg4B1D5AA-TViFABVpEEgLAQCPAgz0BQo6BLpkwIlbqv/whq4UO4Awf/t3f7tX7t3bD42elBoYLA-w
(Don’t use the autoattack for FT because it hits many times with weak attacks which means retaliation kills. As a result, it’s rather cumbersome.)
On the other hand, missing the grandmasters for scrapper is also a rather big disadvantage that causes builds not to work. You want the GM minor that reduces stun duration at the very least. Fortunately a good chunk of the points for specializations is used for the elite and while that is really good; it isn’t mandatory.

If you want to go for pure tanker, then there’s no such thing as too much vitality and toughness because you’re not aiming for a balance— you’re aiming to be a tanker though you probably only need to do that if you’re leading. People bring up overstacking toughness/vit because they’re sacrificing damage, but that’s a very low priority for you. In essence, it’s about what other stats you could have taken, and since offensive ones are irrelevant, your only alternatives are boon duration and healing power. The first is nice to have but not essential, and the later doesn’t scale too well with a lot of things. It’s nice to squeeze these things in without sacrificing your durability. Basically, luxury stats.
You only care for crit chance on empowering might and that’s only to power AH since it heals you every time you give might to someone or yourself. Honestly, if your party has good enough buffs, you could probably settle for very low or not even bother at all.
So anyhow, you should be fine. Your focus is on providing a place for your group to focus damage on, so CC and mobility are the most important things.
