Proof of heroics earn rate

It’s not bad. I can afford a steady stream of siege and I also spent a bunch to get HoT stuff so I don’t have to grind Crystalline Ore. Still have 900ish left but 250 of that is reserved for Herald when I decide to roll one.

Although with the daily chests not giving xp boosters anymore, I forsee a decrease in the rate though.

I wouldn’t mind reward tracks giving some though.

A change that doesn't promote K-train?

ArchonWing.9480

Well, I mean in the old system if something not upgraded got attacked at like say, 12:30, we would opt to flip it back some time before 0:00 instead of trying at all. Oftentimes if there was just a giant karma train rolling through your stuff, that’s all you can really do. Now, we can deny some points for delaying 5 minutes, or maybe 10 minutes. A defense attempt of the sort in the old system would have been futile or even counterintuitive. (If we hold for 10 minutes, the enemy secures it for the tick). And if we lose people, we lose even more points due to PPK and ultimately that makes it worse than not trying at all. Assuming we cared about score— I admit there’s a tendency to justify flipping it back. =p

Camps more valuable?

in WvW

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

In the original system, it went every 15 min
Camp -5 pts
Tower – 10 pts
Keep -25 pts
SM – 35 pts

Now it’s every 5 min
Camp -2 pts
Tower -4 pts
Keep – 8 pts
SM -12 pts

If you kept it for 15 minutes (3 ticks), you’d get
Camp -6 pts
Tower -12 pts
Keep – 24 pts
SM – 36 pts

Relatively speaking, a camp is worth more. A keep used to be worth 5 camps, and SM 7 camps— now it’s 4 and 6 respectively.

Granted, you always get points from an objective because of RI now.

It’s really not that hard. You just need to run a little bit with a group of any size, cap a few things, and occasionally refresh your partcipation. Heck, once you’ve built up to 100% or even a little less, you really don’t have to do anything besides that refresh.

That being said, I don’t really see the need for this change.

-NEVER be “the guy” rushing in with survival skills shouting: my scrapper made it why cant you, no one pushed with me, o ma gawwwd naaaasps #ragequit

Yeaaaaaaaaaaa, that took a while to realize. And that was because I was an idiot that didn’t realize 20v20 isn’t 20 seperate 1v1s or a 1v20 with 19 helpers where you take out your kitten and measure how many people you downed. “I downed 3 people and killed 2” while ignoring zerg wipes “but my K:DR so good that I need 5 minutes to myself”

It’s just stupid because people are generally focusing their boons, cleanses and heals…. on the commander. Anyone can pop their invuls, wade a bit, and come back out. But without a purpose that’s just trolling the frontline that’s keeping you alive.

There’s nothing like a commander boasting about that when the frontline has been spending 70% of the fight putting themselves at risk and inevitably going down before the commander because the com should get priority and gets mocked as a result. This is a good way to see your frontline decrease in numbers over the night. I mean, hey, I can f3 renewed focus f1 f2 f3, and be like YO IM OUT OF POSITION BETTER USE SYG WHEN IM ALL ALONE LIEK A SELFISH JERK OH NO THE ZERG IS WIPING IMA GS3 OUT HERE AND /LAUGH /LAUGH Y CANT U SCRUBS STAY ALIVE. But if you want to win the big fight, you can’t just think about yourself— you can’t just optimize personal dps and survivability.

Almost is as kittenomeone that spams mobility skills and wonders why they’re alone. But point is, don’t take your followers for granted.

I don’t really see a point to Elixir H. It doesn’t do anything medic gyro or healing turret does beyond grant 2 stacks of might plus the long cast time.

I would strongly suggest medic gyro. You pulse a water field around you with the toolbelt that will ultimately give more healing especially if you use a leap finisher especially when you factor you’re doing group healing. The actual medic gyro sorta sucks, but it’s also an instant cast heal and you can just let it blow up for a daze.

The other problem I see is that you have no stunbreaks which is not good because you don’t have that much reliable stability. Though keep in mind that using an evade (hammer leap again!) will give you a stack which is enough to move out of whatever.

I would drop Elixir C for something that breaks stun. I mean C sounds nice but in reality even the most terrible of groups should be able to cleanse rather adequately and you have adaptive armor, melandru runes, and most likely some kind of anti-condi food. Remember that practically every class has an easy way to do AOE cleanse, less so for AOE stability, and even less so for AOE stunbreak. Personally, I rarely leave without elxiir gun. The toolbelt breaks stun and also gives aoe regen/condi remove, and acid bomb is very good for repositioning yourself.

I did see someone drive with a daredevil all of sudden when there was no pug tag last week. That was pretty sick, since I didn’t know it was possible. They did very well.

Although I’m curious on why warrior isn’t more popular? They have more mobility and potentially more ability to take more punishment than guardian. Guardian only has 1 invul on a 90s cooldown. (Yea, I know endure pain isn’t actually an invul)

The state of thick leather

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

Yes, something can be done to lower the price.

Don’t buy it. Convince people not to buy it. Spread the word. Just live without that ascended armor for a bit.

The only reason prices are that high is because someone is willing to pay that kind of price. If more people were more patient and not letting themselves get fleeced by clicking buy instantly and setting the buy orders low, there wouldn’t be that much to take advantage.

Personally, I have completely put all ascended work on hold and just waiting because I won’t pay for that price of leather. Instead I’m just selling it and once prices normalize again, I’ll continue working with the gold I’ve stockpiled from these sales. Not to mention the occasional RNG drop.

This isn’t like precursors which you can’t really control if you have them or not. It’s just leather. Salvage.

I mean silk popped. Leather will in due time. In the meantime, turn predicaments into opportunities. Or just complain about it. Whatever makes ya happy.

All repeatable achievements need to have a limit, otherwise they’d be disproportionately weighed and trivialize all other achievements— dailies already represent a huge chunk already and considering how easy they are, they should not represent any more.

Besides, even past the limit, they still give 2g now and considering the effort involved, it’s already really good.

I have seen some rather, determined, individuals that are harassing other guilds on my server. While they are ignored in chat, they find other ways to harass them, like following them, saying whatever, and throwing useless siege— that stuff is fairly tame and easy to ignore. But I’ve also seen them create similar character and guild names to impersonate people and then troll as such so that the inattentive will think their victims are doing the crap. (As a side note, how do you report an offensive guild name?) Naturally said individuals have been repeatedly reported although I don’t know what option to pick when they do it.

i feel tempted to try those runes for my mace shield guard :| expensive????

i bet they will be nerfed once everyone using them..

They probably will. It’s not expensive at all and very easy though it requires some pve; probably a few hours, less if you find an organized group. Use gw2timer and LFG.

I wouldn’t suggest Mace/shield for driving. It has no mobility so you can’t direct the flow of traffic, the most interesting healing is a light field when most decent group healing comes from water fields, and it’s just too slow to keep up in a mobile fight. It just pales in comparison with the GS’s leap finisher, or the hammer’s blast finisher.

Back to OP anyhow, whatever anyone picks I would suggest that someone needs to bring the following if they want to lead:

  • Bring Survival. Because you’re useless if dead.
  • Stability, stability, stability. You can’t lead if you’re on the floor. Remember that stability stacks based on intensity and not duration so don’t just randomly spam it selfishly. Organize your groups to take this into account.
  • Bring mobility. How do you lead if you can’t keep up?
  • Bring communication (most likely your server’s voice coms.) How will you lead if nobody knows what you’ll do?
  • Bring support. You need to keep the people around you alive. The worst is someone that relies on everyone else to support them and then they scream at their followers for dying even though they’re most likely risking their own lives to make sure the commander stays up (and thus that’s the only reason the commander is staying up!)
  • Bring CC. Soft and hard, so you may control where the enemy is, hold them in place, and direct damage to.

It’s not about any one person. You lead and support your group, your group is your ears, eyes, and arms. I say this because I have noted it is very much easier to do anything if you have scouts feeding you info, and a pug blob generally has inferior scouting. I’d place 1 copper as a bet that this is actually giving you the most grief atm. If someone tells you that the enemy is hiding in a corner waiting for you, you have much more time to react and pick good places to fight. If you have no info and the enemy mysteriously materializes on top of you via veil and a surprise, 80% of your puggles will evaporate and no amount of godly skills will save you.

You have to be attentive, but you can’t do it all by yourself. I know a lot of good players that are not good leaders as a result of not understanding this. I’d also say that about myself, but then “good player” doesn’t fit me either. :p

Work together, and make sure you know what how the people around you are doing too. You hold them up, and vice versa. It’s no surprise that guardian fits this role very much. But whatever you build should most likely take this into consideration.

As noted above, guardian with durability runes is the best. Though durability runes will turn mostly anything into a brick wall.

As for what you posted, Flamethrower is not that great as the AA is subject to retal, which is most likely why you are dying. Durability runes are the way to go, failing that melandru, but speed runes are really bad because swiftness should not be a problem in zergs. Finally, that random condi damage doesn’t help at all.

http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQFASncoC1XhVXBeeB0ehlJjS8ZKgAIc7Smwi+vr79G-TFyHAB9oMI89HaSJoX6AE4CAAwDAYP1f+RpHpA8RqF-w

You have some long invuls as well as a lot of self sustain plus popping the water should help as well. Toss Elixir S is great for breaking target off yourself, and that comes in very handy at times.

$$$$$ for Anet.

It is about 160g to xfer to a medium. If a player runs in a BG zerg, they can easily crank that back relatively quickly. Why spend the cash?

Well, nobody said logic applies to that situation especially when it comes to impulsive behavior. For example, when the shared inventory slots came out. I bought3… and then I bought 2, even though there’s a better discount for buying 5. Support graciously helped me out on my stupidity. More prudent folk bought them when they inevitably went on sale and the gold—-> gems conversion was better because there’s generally a worse conversion when an item initially shows up. But I wanted it immediately!

And this is applicable especially from zerglings that feel the need to find a place to zerg harder.* If they could come up with your train of thought, there wouldn’t be issues. But this is the same game where there are people that would rather spend hours complaining about issues that they could have solved in the time they used to complain. Or maybe people suck at hitting 1. I dunno.

There is a squad that everyone is invited to, very few people on TS, very few organized guilds running, a single commander that’s tagged basically 24/7 and defends all maps

That sounds familiar.

In the past, I have always wondered people on my end often cry about the difficulty of the matchup and then at the same time proceed to PPT as furiously as possible via backcapping once Mag/FA goes to sleep, then wondering why the same matchups happens next week. But it seems to be a problem elsewhere as well. It just seems like a lot of stress, and oftentimes this stress gets projected on others, whether they want it or not

Then again, with only 4 tiers left, there is really nowhere to go.

Welcome to the limbo that is t3. But all this linking is just a beta, and people can see the results.

Oh no, stop. The price of superior arrow carts is dropping.

good im out of gold :| probably i can buy one now… lol..
use to burn all cash on anti confi food…

Well, out of heroics too? I usually budget them so that about 50% of them goes for my own siege stock, most of the rest gets sold to the TP or donated to people as needed since I figure if they don’t place it, I’d probably do so anyways.

As for food, Saffron is anti-condi and relatively cheap, and sometimes if it’s really a slow night, take a look at the level 60 versions. They’re not really that much worse and are a lot cheaper. Plus the privisioner sells some interesting food. (don’t go for the ones you can get for a few copper though)

But in all seriousness and this applies to everyone; don’t go too hard on yourself. Week to week, it’s very easy to burn yourself out especially when you feel not enough people are helping you. There are some very great people on my server that just literally collapse in frustration because either people don’t refresh their siege when they spend a ton of gold on it, or fail to scout properly so that tier 3 structure gets lost after a lot of time investment. I just tell them that it’s time to take it easy. At least the scout partcipation system has helped them out a lot because I know a lot of people that have had a net total of 10 gold on them, and that’s not right.

I’ve been there before. There’s sometimes an urge that makes one try to take up the slack when others fairweather decide it’s nor worth it. Sometimes the break is truly worth it, just because a game should not be taking so much stress. I mean, for the most part, the same thing should be there next week.

It lashes out aggressively because to you, it is nothing, and it’s probably true. This aggression gives itself the validation it needs to function.

Now, let’s say those barks translated to English are about one of your relatives perhaps even in a graphically inappropriate fashion, your intelligence, or how you play.

Movement Speed options for each profession?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

For open world, I shamelessly take 25% movement bonuses since well, it’s open world and convenience >>>> all else. I’m not aiming to kill everything in sight that I can always swap if I really have to. Not to mention movement speed in actual combat is useful too.

Guardian — “Retreat”, sometimes with the shout cooldown trait and always gs/wings of resolve. I just use my wvw gear for open world which is either durability or traveler runes, both of which give boon duration thus near-perma swiftness (perma if you go with Pure of Voice but Honor is a very bad line in pve. ), but that’s generally redundant with traveler. However, I would not consider traveler runes a real option unless you intend to use it for wvw small scale as it sucks everywhere else. Building a traveler rune set for pve is silly.

Necro — 25% movement signet, sometimes warhorn. I don’t like accidentally getting myself into combat with the warhorn. Also Reaper Shroud 2 when safe to do so.
Thief-- That daredevil trait and a shortbow.
Mesmer— Comes with default on Chrono, blink
Engineer— Mecha legs trait (also reduces the effects of soft CC) because I am too lazy to manage streamlined kits and sometimes rocket boots. Sneak gyro while it does not improve your movement, makes it easier for you to run past everything that would slow you down.
Ele— Lightning flash and the air tree minor that makes you move faster in air attunement. The speed signet is actually really good. FGS in elite, but whatever.
Ranger— Movement signet and staff

  • Guardians and stability seem to be a main thing, so ideally the thing I’ve heard tossed around is 2 guardians per group; I assume that’s for melee parties and for necros/reapers. Or is that too old? Does the driver’s party need anything special?
  • Naturally, keep scouts away, also ranged or gank doesn’t need to co-opt stability.

So how would you organize the following squads? Assume that you can get anyone to change their builds at will, but you cannot change the person’s class.

Squad A:
Guardian (5)
Ele (6)
Necro (5)
Warrior (2)
Revenant (2)

Also, if any thieves were here, where would they go?

Squad B:
Guardian (10)
Elementalist (5)
Warrior (10)
Necro (5)
Revenant (5)

Squad C:
Guardian (2)
Elementalist (10)
Warrior (2)
Necro (10)
Revenant (2)

"Save Yourself" Idea

Yep.

It should be a bit more than just “kill yourself”

Does reward track favour siege?

Well, arrow carts and such do a lot of damage and have a higher AOE cap, while it’s easier to get credit for destroying a door as opposed to pvdoor since the bulk of the damage (usually) comes from the ram.

If you’re firing siege into big groups, it’s only natural that your participation increases rapidly.

Repairing only gives credit when you have the contested event so you won’t get any unless you meet a commander and ask them to give you credit. I generally ask people who are scouts on the map to speak out if they care about such a thing- an 10 person squad can already offer 2 scout spots so there’s little reason to not use them.

Yea, I don’t disagree with you on that for the matter. The former takes a degree of skill, the later is well, as you suggested, lol.

Hmm, gotta agree. Frequently, I call the next target to train down by their rank. I don’t see what’s the point of a rank if only anonymous enemies can see your rank. Should be able to toggle on/off to enemies and/or allies, but if that’s too much clutter to allies they could be like those pvp badge things (what relevance do those have in wvw anyways?)

Though people have been able to pick out the driver even if they are relatively low rank based on the movement, but I suppose that’s just a skill.

Another possibility is that the titles can just be unlocked and you can pick any you’ve unlocked. I think Gold Legend sounds a lot better than Platinum Recruit anyways. It also doesn’t help that platinum makes your name longer.

PvP Gameplay Videos (Three Videos)

So, are you saying I’m bad or the people I played against are bad? I understand that only one competitive team so far has used DH. That was last season though. It would be nice to see more DH representation this season. I don’t think a lot of professions counter DH as much right now. Some counters do exist. If s/f ele was more viable we would be highly threatened by them though!

Nah, this happens with every video produced. Always gotta be someone nitpicking stuff from a 3rd person point of view and/or projecting their own insecurities onto you because dear lord, mistakes happened in a game! Essentially, when you post your own gameplay, there’s this assumption you are proud of it and bragging, although there is a distinction that people frequently miss. Basically, https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Packet_of_Salt

When sufficiently salty, the salter cannot do anything to improve their situation so the only thing they can do is to bring down others.

Anyhow, Thanks for producing stuff like this.

Marauder gear

Alternatively you can craft directly the ascended Marauder gear: it requires to buy the recipes in the Auric Basin map. But this method is WAY MORE EXPENSIVE than crafting just ascended berserk gear (put here any other random stats) and transmute then to Marauder.

This is not true. You don’t need to go into HoT maps at all for marauder. It comes from the crafting vendor.

Ascended Marauder is crafted like most of the original stats. It doesn’t require the more expensive jeweled patch/dowel

The only HoT things that are required are ebony orbs and barbed thorns for the exotic marauder insignia which is a component of the ascended version, neither of which is particularly expensive compared to the other insignias and can be bought off the TP.

tl;dr craft the marauder directly, unless you found the ascended piece with different stats.

Staffow Build WvW roam - s/scale

ArchonWing.9480

Oh sorry. I have a bad tendency to keep editing posts, hopefully before people read them so my post is fatter :p

You can keep the burn traits as long as you find another way to defend yourself (cleanse/stability) otherwise it’s hard to finish it off in anything bigger than a duel, plus there’s so many stuns/condis these days. But if you think you can manage without it, that’s also up to you. I think you may have more fun in a party of 3-5.

Staffow Build WvW roam - s/scale

The 3k armor and 20k health seems a bit restrictive. I think one would just be a punching bag in this circumstances. It’s not like the toughness would help against a condi user either. And that’s the other thing. You’ll be slow. Even if you could win, they’d just run. And how will you run?

But if you want

http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vVAQJATWnsABVdilCBmDBkdilEiSe5b+rPL/+vA8aZDgDA-TlSBABRcIAMTJ4+7PoxDAoS1fwTXAHHBgrUKAwFAILldBAQAc0nb0lb0j2Rv5Rv5RvZpAKXZE-w

Don’t hate bros; I’ve won a 1v2 with something similar to this before. (It had somewhat less vitality and toughness, but not by that much.) They weren’t afk so I am not sure why. It was before the recent bow nerfs though; wouldn’t go with this alone— I really can’t justify using bow as a primary weapon in wvw anymore and staff is a group weapon. But rest assured I only post builds that have actually killed someone; I can’t vouch for quality of opponent though.

Anyhow reasons:

  • “Retreat” — To maintain 80% swiftness uptime since no traveler runes, really about the same and grab med packs from sentries (I am serious)
  • Judge’s Intervention. Well, how else will you hit anything with your traps? Also use on critters to run for the hills.
  • “Unscathed Contender” — No space for consecrations. Retaliation has changed the tide of a small scale fight never. Fire retreat when you’re reading to burst, also increases the effectiveness when you +1 a fight and shoot someone in the back.
  • “Zealot’s aggression” — The longbow AA by default doesn’t cripple unless it hits another enemy. It’s pretty stupid. The additional cripple makes things easier for you plus it also adds more damage if you hit them with your test of faith. Hunter’s determination is good too, but I don’t think this build needs it since we have so much defense.
  • Those virtue burn traits. Mehhhhhh; survivability is better since we have no condi cleanse! We also aren’t taking condi damage Permeating wrath is unlikely to help in roaming; honestly tagging enemies seems to be its only use w/o condi damage. In theory Supreme Justice would be great but unless you have a tempest or warrior behind you constantly clearing condis, I would not recommend ditching Absolute Resolution. Well, I suppose you could take CoP somewhere. Or purging flames.
  • Originally I used air/fire sigil on staff so it’d occasionally do damage; I think that beats the occasional no-condi damage burn. Due to the low crit here, leeching is a better choice. As staff does such crappy base damage, you’re better off squeezing more damage from external sources, instead of having 0 damage for 9 seconds.
  • Consider using the sweet bean bun.

Thiefs, balance and you

Maybe it’s just my luck that I’m running into bad ones, but it seems like they’re usually only deadly when they’re +1’ing a fight, I noted quite a few that were accidentally bursted down by me.

lol power creep.

I think the only lame thieves are the condi ones because they are also tanky, but that’s an issue with condi.

Personally, I see more of an issue against druids, berserkers, reapers and chronos. I also put scrappers here because fighting them is really tiring.

Guard GS vs Scapper Hammer autoattack

in Guardian

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

Try using guardian gs for mobility, and then try using scrapper hammer to get around.

Scrappers are better off because they have higher base HP and also more passive abilities. Guardians have a class mechanic (virtues) that is utterly garbage unless traited and that greatly limits their choices. It also means that unlike scrappers, they have to pretty much sacrifice offense or defense; currently as everyone knows it’s pretty much the later.

The other thing is the general sadness of something generally associated with guardians— and that is aegis which is horrifically outdated in this day and age.
