This is very much like it.

I think the problem is that whatever the development process is, it’s rather stubborn and unwilling to change despite the poor reception. That’s how we got a terrible trait system that required unlocking of every single trait via gold or sometimes absurd things like killing the grub. Fortunately, that was buried and missed by nobody but fact is that they have a tendency to impose sweeping changes and look at you funny when you say otherwise. I guess they listen too much to too many yes-men/women.

And you have more examples, such as Saturday Reset, where things are just going to be “We’re changing it to reset on Saturday” all of a sudden, and yea, that’s it, we are.

I’d rather not pour any more pessimism in, but the failures go far beyond implementation, but also the fact that they can’t really even form the thought of this WvW overhaul into a few organized thoughts beyond the vaguest of soundbites. Even if they were actually good, this is just not a good way to handle things.

Home Logging Nodes are overvalued?

To the extreme. It’s expensive because it’s rare.

It’s strictly a novelty item. I guess if you bought the node packs and various nodes like these you could always do a daily from your home instance.

Also, I guess if you had a guild or circle of friends collectively gathering from it every day, it could be worth it.

In the end, if you treat it like a decoration to your home instance, it is much better that way.

Mastery points, ugh [Merged]

ArchonWing.9480

Well, I have no problem with the mastery system. Some of the masteries themselves are uninspired, bordering on the pointless, or obvious speed bumps, but acquiring the points works just fine as far as I’m concerned. People should realize that the answer to many of their complaints are in the name of the system: “Mastery”.

Perhaps, but for about 1/4 of Central Tyria points, “mastery” seems to be about having to sit through tons of boring dialogue and gameplay that is too trivial for anyone with some experience with the game.

At the same time, 100% map completion for Central Tyria which would reflect mastery of the land far more than anything else yields only one point. The exact same for tagging the Karka Queen.

Compare this to HoT, which compacts a lot more mastery points into a smaller time window with the story, and while there’s some mastery points that are gated which is terrible, at least the grand majority of them do not require much more than updraft and bouncing mushrooms. Outside of adventures, it really is all on you, except DS which is sorta lame for those reasons.

I don’t really think it’s necessarily about difficulty.

And this is why casinos make tons of money. People seem to think that they’re outside the reaches of probability and of course project this to other individuals (particularly when envious)

Why would anyone take the risk of pushing a rigged system and suffer the risk of being exposed when good ol’ fashion numbers will still reel people in?

The casino doesn’t need to cheat, because the games are lopsided in their favor anyways. It works on its own. The human mind can’t comprehend small edges over the long term, which is why letting them have that 55% edge seems small, but in reality it’s anything but small. They focus on the outliers and attempt to rationalize them, ultimately devolving into irrational behavior in order to have things make sense; making them easy prey and prone to impulsive moves and temptations.

Likewise, there is absolutely no point in favoring certain accounts because that would be an unnecessary risk. Gold is related with a real money value, after all. If it’s found that Anet was actually manipulating things as such, that couldn’t do them any good. Good ol’ RNG accomplishes the same result.

PvE Champion Solo Build?

Yea, I am not sure if anyone can solo some Magus Falls champs; Central Tyria is definitely possible.

I think a combination of bulwark/stealth gyro traited with final salvo, healing turret, and slick shoes should provide a lot of adequate attrition against anything since you can greatly reduce the damage against yourself and also hide when the battle’s not going your way.

The new auto loot doesen't work in WvW. [Merged]

in WvW

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

Since players who paid for HoT can have this prerogative available in all pve enviroment I think WvW needs also this privilege. It´s just a small change that won´t hurt anybody and won´t provide any real advantage. I am not asking for gliding all over WvW, just want to focus on fighting not if I am missing some loot from if I die battling or was too focused smashing keyboard to survive.

I think some people would even buy HoT if they don´t need to pick up loot.

I think the reason they will not implement this is they were trying to avoid adding too many advantages in WvW making it further imbalanced to no HoT players Part of the challenge in WvW is being able to pick up your bags without dying, this would give HoT players a direct advantage in battle. However, The OTHER issue is not just HoT, but a PvE issue. If you could obtain Auto loot in WvW ( maybe a reward track or something the like) rather than being forced to go PvE to do so, that would be better. WvW should be a self sustaining game mode, not forcing a player to ever step foot in PVE to be competitive.

That was what set GW1 apart from other games was being able to just PvP if you wanted to without grinding PvE. WvW should be treated the same as well, just treated as a large scale PvP self sustaining game mode if they wish to improve the population of it.

That reasoning is consistent with…. zero aspects of HoT.

Guild hall grinds, specialization grinds that are far stronger than base classes, ascended grinds, grinds for stats only available in pve content.

But but, not letting people have a QoL feature in light of all of this ensures a level playing field. I really weep for humanity if anyone can say that with a straight face and sleep soundly at night. Nor do I conflate skill with having to fight with a bad interface.

It has always been the case that playing PvE will give an advantage entering WvW; not it’s even more pronounced.

If that is legitimately a train of thought, it needs to be scrapped because there is 0 relation to it and reality.

Just put autoloot in WvW already. Either make it baseline so everyone has it, or so that WvW Xp contributes to Tyria masteries. Everything else is just an exercise in being an apologist.

Why did they call this game "casual "

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

I think an example of things being less casual are the strict timetable for the new maps. If you try going into Dragon’s Stand at anywhere other than when it starts, or you arrive at another map when the meta is far off, you’ll have a crappy time. It’s sort of like my disdain for World Boss schedules taken to a new level— you play to the game’s timetable, or you can just bugger off.

This is opposed to a lot of other content where you can just hop in and start playing. To make matters worse, people taxi to circumvent the issue, leaving even more maps empty, and even if you want to play on the map you zoned in, the game will CLOSE the map you’re on and forcing you to go elsewhere. And your participation goes down to 0%.

The inactivity timer is also very poorly designed. While it’s geared to stop leechers, it creates bad situations where you might die and if waypoints are contested you might get dinged for inactivity. This isn’t discounting the time when the poor design of events makes you punished for inactivity when the NPCs are talking and thus there’s nothing to fight anyways.

There was one time where I was starting the Ordinance Corps meta where you have to clear out 3 sets of enemies. The 3rd set was so far away that I got inactivity for walking over there. If someone had cleared it out in the meantime or I died en route, then I would have gotten zero credit despite doing 2/3rds of the work! Fun! I appreciate how the game’s basically saying “Nope, you just wasted your time here”

While I think the new maps have been great for group meta content, it is not so great when players are more sparse or want to play in lesser numbers. And sure, you can LFG and zerg the map; but that being the solution to everything isn’t particularly fun either.

what i think of PPK

ArchonWing.9480

I don’t typically spawn camp, but when I see it happening, it is because the campers are bored and looking for fights. Never heard anyone say, “let’s spawn camp and get an extra couple points per minute.”

Yea, I doubt I’d know a single person’s reasoning that would run…

“Let’s kill random people farm them for umm… spikes! And increase our server’s score by 1% if we do this for 7 hours a day!”

It’s very evident people are going to do this even if killing players yielded nothing. Because this mode, does in fact, involve killing other players because you can. Which is why I find claims of toxicity humorous, because the enemy is supposed to make you feel bad, excluding of course already forbidden things like sending hate mail or something. If I wanted to talk about that, I would worry about toxic behavior from one’s own team, maybe blaming people for dying and giving points in the enemy. Of course, anyone that plays with such a stick up their kitten will find themselves blocked very quickly.

People just have to realize that sometimes the other people killing you are just viewing you as mere pixels, not unlike other NPCs. Stop imagining that it must mean that they’re cracking out in evil laughter, doing it to stick it to you personally, and demeaning your worth as a human being (usually) Save that for the esports or that other forum. Yea, I get annoyed and rage when I get run over by a zerg, but I don’t give a second thought when I’m on the other end.

I’ve never seen such a thing. If someone thinks pinning up gives them the right to power trip, then I’m just going to /laugh.

That being said, I always squad up when the tag wants a number count if I am involved in doing the meta. It’s common courtesy because I would like the map to succeed.

It IS annoying that you aren’t able to chat with your friends or sometimes even know where they are after joining a squad. Breaking up a party feels more impersonal. Unless you make your own subsquad but that might not be allowed. In WvW, some particularly nuanced commanders will put people in the same guild together in the same subsquad.

Oh, btw, if you want someone to do something for you, screaming at them generally doesn’t work. Not does guilt tripping. Just a hint.

This is a bumped thread from months ago…

Armor needs to be at least 3000 for frontline.

^ still holds true

That said I would take Stealth gyro over mortar kit for a frontline (preference), you can take over warrior duty for ressing as needed & also disrupt enemy veil pushes. I’d also go with Elixir B for the stability on the toolbelt skill.

@ RudyTjhia.7250 , with the amount of CCs flying around, Projection Injection is VERY strong. I’d take that over Invigorating Speed and use Adrenal Implant instead of Gadgeteer

So i would really like to see you ressing 5 downs covered in heavy CC and rangebombs. You know, 5 at once not 5 guys that tried to safe their butts by breaking out of line. Take 5 guys at once out of harm’s way and please make a vid. Warrior is down but trust me the day you guys replace warrior in it’s entirety is when i sit on klovans wall dropping my heavy armor and wait for a slow death by trebuchet.

I don’t think the point was replacing warriors, but “taking on warrior duty” could be situations where banner is on cooldown or otherwise not available, and of course warriors obviously provide stuff like cleanse better than scrappers can. Plus empower allies. So they aim for different things and don’t compete with each other. But that’s sort of the point. A scrapper that tries to be a poor man’s guardian, warrior, or ele will certainly be subpar. That applies to every class. You don’t make a full cleric scrapper because none of your AOE heals scale well with healing power and AOE regen is nothing special since almost every class craps it out. But, we can do a lot of these things without having to gear or build around them.

And no, I don’t think an Elixir R Scrapper is a good substitute for a warrior either. But it can work nicely.

What's going on with WvW rewards?

in WvW

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

I think if WvW gives better rewards it would be filled of leechers and useless player filling slots that could be used by people who really enjoy the massive pvp.

That already happens, even with the garbage rewards. The 2 dozen people that seem to be always there that would jeopardize the safety of the entire zerg just to tag a lord to ensure a champ bag are a good example.

You have to take the good in with the bad. PvE and PvP have plenty of useless leechers, but in the end it ensures there’s at least a population around. You can’t just assume people that are going after better rewards are going to be useless. For all you know, it might encourage them to play harder. I mean really, it’s 2 chests full of greens and some silver that separate so called winning or losing in this game mode.

In the end the reward tracks of PvP and the map rewards system of PvE are doing a part in keeping the game mode alive. It’s a snowball effect— empty maps are going to turn away a lot of people. And not to be insulting to anyone, but some people are just results oriented and cannot see very far ahead of them— they need to be led. But you can still find a role for these people even if you disagree with where their priorities are.

Furthermore, PvE will always be a more consistent source of rewards and anyone that’s actually a carrot chaser would know that by now.

In the end, the population for WvW is shrinking as it gets increasingly isolated. I don’t think shunning people for what they may do is a prudent approach.

How would you play if death was permanent?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

More tanky gear, and also more group oriented gear. I certainly think saving people from defeat in these instances certainly feels a lot more epic; also I wouldn’t solo. I don’t really see any point in a solo hardcore experience plus grouping up would be a lot safer.

I also think the higher level zones will be much more sparse and have a bunch of people playing it safe.

That being said, I don’t really have an interest in these things as it feels more like a time sink to me and excessive penalties for failure is just a dated concept in games to me— back when content was low and games were short, it made sense to kick the player back but with so many easy-death mechanics it just seems like a cheap way to prolong content through repetition. That’s not particularly fun. One of the advantages of being able to continue through something after failure is that it’s easier to learn and practice things and since this game likes to change the mechanics on you so much, it would be a chore to level up again and come back.

I’ve played mostly hardcore in Diablo 2, and liked it much but that was because the base game was too easy but helping people stay alive was a blast. For that game, there was no excuse. Even if you got killed because of a disconnect or a hacker, Blizzard didn’t give a kitten . You were dead. But there’s a huge difference between D2 and Gw2, and that is that it is very easy to “rush” a character back to a certain point; meaning it was easy to rebuild even if you didn’t have the best of gear for your new character You could also hoard your wealth on alts outside your main characters. . Plus like I said before, content in Diablo 2 was fairly limited and the game moved at a fast pace. For this reason, MMOs which move at a slower pace I think are terrible for a hardcore mode. Plus speaking of Diablo 2 and 3, a hardcore mode naturally increases the likelihood of griefing, because there’s a lot more impact. That I don’t think would be good for Gw2 either.

It would be entirely unacceptable in WvW though. People are already afraid of dying there, and there would be like zero action.

Tyria points are garbage; about half the points are story related and some involve multiple playthroughs. And the rest; about 10 of them don’t revolve around completely banal and/or boring gameplay— the exploration achievements which offer a whopping 2 points total (1 more if you did world compleition), and the boss ones for 8 more. It really just feels like they slapped the points on randomly.

Maguuma masteries have a much better balance that involve you playing for a full variety of content, and doing challenging things like taking advantage of mechanics to reach strongboxes and insights. I thought that was nice, though the adventures part is annoying.

Literally apples and oranges, IMO.

MM= damage, requires stability to work well
RR = A bit more healing, pretty much requires superspeed.

I prefer MM in most cases, but I have recalled RR and Slick shoes toolbelt being pretty neat in keeping me up until I could get another healing turret off. 2k health means quite a bit to you when you’re almost dead— I actually don’t care for HP/s as it does nothing when you’re near full health.

Compare it to something like backpack regenerator which I never take anymore because it simply is too specific in a life or death scenario.

The poor scaling with rapid regeneration is probably intentional anyways— you shouldn’t spec around it; it also means it works perfectly fine with 0 healing power.

Tell me if u found my build is sucks and i need to chnge it , and please give me suggestion about what should i change and what should i do/don’t as frontline Scrapper
Thanks for your time guys

Hi,

I don’t recommend celestial for scrapper. A lot of your damage is going to be direct damage and you have nothing to really take advantage of healing power as you don’t really heal others that much. Rapid Regen scales very poorly with healing power and regen is nice… but also too common in a zerg. Basically it wastes too many stats, plus makes you end up with a very low power— healing power = Medical Dispersion Field or Bust!

I also recommend inventions over tools; yea you’ll get less use of slick shoes, but it is better at keeping you alive in larger fights.

For this build, I’d suggest Iron Blooded. There’s not enough skills to take advantage for HGH.

You might also want to look into medic gyro, because the toolbelt skill is incredibly powerful, but it doesn’t cleanse as well as healing turret can.

Finally, I would suggest Self Regulating Defenses. Since you are frontline, I think Self Regulating Defenses will help you if you get focused down.

Mortar Kit is superior in zergs especially if you’re trying to frontline because of the fields it provides as well as an orbital strike to follow you trying to go in with.

If you want to keep the healing aspect, I’d suggest something like this: http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQFASnUUBtbhdeBGpC0ehlKjievj77O86KmtTcZCgyD-TVSDABPpMILlGA8AAoSJGDXAgGV/Z+9H0THwgKBFFgfB-w

I put healing turret here because there aren’t enough cleanses IMO.

This is what I personally use, works for myself, obviously:

http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQFASncoC1XhVXBubB0ehlJjKc7Smwi+vz79W8ZKgAA-TViFABVpEcJlEAcBAMS5GhqHcoKOnpDQ99HS4BAUO4A4t3CA/93e/t3et3evNgb7VGgitA-w

As a final note; if you can keep alive, I think Slick Shoes and Rocket Boots is a very strong combo but I’ve never done too well with it myself.

What Maguuma Masteries to get?

in Players Helping Players

At this point I am finishing Ley Line gliding and will have 6 mastery points left after that. I have no real desire to grind out more mastery points— have done most of the strongboxes and insights in the first two maps thanks to Dulfy as well as the story and don’t care for adventures or story achievements. I figure I should think of what to prioritize with my remaining mastery points. I do assume I’ll be getting a few more just by playing the last two maps though, so I’ll have more than 6 to spend.

Already Unlocked:
Gliding (Will be all of it)
Itzel— Speed Mushrooms
Exalted — Exalted Acceptance
Nuhoc-- Nuhoc Wallows

I would like to try more of DS in the future, and will probaly spend some time in Auric Basin to get more aurilium. VB won’t be as much, since I’ve already done so much of it and have thousands of Airship parts that I don’t know what to do with.

I would like to get a personal perma merchant in the future, but if this “feature” is still in there, I don’t want it if it could potentially grief people. There’s absolutely no reason to create an NPC for cluttering other people.

Chest of Loyalty - Laurels obvious choice?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ArchonWing.9480

I’m actually not too sure anymore. In the past I would have picked laurels but t6s are not what they were in the past.

I went to the: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Heavy_Crafting_Bag and fortunately, everything there listed has its TP price listed, but since you have a equal chance of getting every material, I averaged the TP sell prices— a random t6 material has a value of ~24 silver 45 copper (Censoring that, really?) and since you get 3, each bag is worth ~73.35s. (Some decimals but thanks to fluctuating prices, nothing’s gonna be exact) Multiply that by 20. and just going to round that up to 14.7g for simplicity.

25.2 A Bone
25.3 V claw
21.69 C Dust
23.3 V Fang
24.6 A Scale
24.63 E Totem
7.9 P Venom
43 V P Blood
24.4525
73.3575
1467.15

Ascended crafting materials average ~9.75g but I don’t know the chance of getting one or two. If the chances were even I would assume the average is 14.65 gold.

Damask 11
deld 8.0025
elonian 11.023
plank 9.013
9.759625
14.655

Note that the TP keeps fluctuating, so numbers are estimates at best.

Remove the 15k daily AP limit please!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

Dailies already make up a disproportionate amount of AP with the cap. and are also disproportionately easier than many achievements. Putting a cap like that should be more than enough.

Out of my 15909 AP, I only have 6073 “permanent ones”. Dailies and the old monthlies accounted for more than 1/2.

I mean, you get 20 points for map completion— which is the equivalent of 2 dailies.

As is, no cap just means who’s done more dailies if there were no cap. Well, it already kinda is. That’s why there’s little reason to take AP seriously at all.

Finally, dailies still give minor rewards and spirit shards, so it’s still something, and compared to the relatively low amount of effort the require, I think it’s more than sufficient.

Anyhow, I’m for upping the cap in the far future; but maybe when dailies account for ~20% of total AP. So maybe if there were 80k permanent achievement points attainable, then I would suggest raising it to 20k, for example.

How do we get rid of the hackers?

Hah, we actually had folks on reset night camping the keep lord room and gathering from nodes in the meantime with recorders ready. That was some degree of excitement though probably not for the right reasons.

One of my guild mates told me that the hack troll was indeed using our guild tag, but with a different description… [AIR] The Storm of Orders …was what the troll was using? Our guild tag is [AIR] The Order of Storms.

What a kitten. I always report trash immediately ingame when I see it.

p.s. Would be awesome to have a chance to /wave at you sometime this week.

Edit: /wave preferably before I get steam rolled by one of your zergs, lol.

Kinda sad that they were trying to slander you and for what? PPT? PPT hacking? lol I guess someone has to set the low bar. But yea, we began to understand that they’re not part of your community and even if they were, it’s dumb to judge based on the worst from a community— certainly a glass house thing nonetheless. I certainly wouldn’t, and that goes beyond this game, lol.

Yea, EB at primetime alone isn’t very fun and we like to mob down a single target for the chance of getting a spike or something. If you can kite back with 1-2 to behind a corner and have some friends waiting, it should be a nice farm from the tail at least.

Well, that seems unfortunate that they’ve inflated your server’s rating in t3 and t3 is rather screwed up atm. You guys shouldn’t be here, and well nobody else really should either. Should be better in a few weeks.

When is ANet going to do anything about the hackers in HoD?

How about now?

The “not so” Secret (and banned) Lads of HoD:

  • foamknight.8534 – It Goes It Goes Yuh
  • Michael.7943 – The Fame Monster
  • History o Silence.1734 – A Real Ranger

Edit: While I’m here…a report in-game is good, a report in-game AND an email to exploits@arena.net is even better!

Just remember some key things that really help with an investigation:

  • What Time and Date was it? Easiest way to do this is to play with Server time on your minimap and take a screenshot when you make a report (don’t forget to send us that screenshot too!)
  • Right click – Report Player for Botting – We can find your report(s) and investigate them later if the first one doesn’t get the job done
  • Your Character or Display Name – Just because you are emailing us doesn’t mean that we can automatically match your account (especially if you email us from an address that doesn’t have a Guild Wars account on it)
  • Be Descriptive! – Names of locations, what you saw, what was happening (even if you didn’t see it), what borderlands? What matchup? More information the better!

Oh what.

So can we out hackers on Reddit then? Maybe it’d be easier.

Although there’s nothing to really stop them from making free accounts again is there?

What happened to the Forum Specialists?

in WvW

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

See, honestly, I am not sure if that was the best idea to do it late Friday, lol. That leaves people with no explanation. Let this be a lesson learned! ;p Again

About two months ago, I decided that I wasn’t going to have the time to be a forum specialist. Truth be told, while I still WvW a fair amount, I’ve played a lot less myself, and the fact is that a majority of my friends and guildies just don’t give a kitten any more. A lot of times they just agree to tag along because of commendations or because possibly to shut me up for 30 minutes and yes I thank my guild for not gkicking me since reading my chatter in guild chat can be a pain.

Given that there won’t be any major changes in the near future and also the relative secrecy on major overhauls if it even exists, there is far more than enough feedback than is needed. It’s all on the front page, and they get it or they don’t. There’s little more we can do.

This was also during the time you guys asked about whether or not they were finding another specialist and I figured I shouldn’t just step down and leave this forum abandoned without finding a proper successor. You know, I could at least be like dead El Cid on a horse until things were sorted out but I did have the intent of at least helping until this point.

And sigh, honestly, this was yet again not the best way to do things. I hope this really shows that [Anet] does not understand its player base very well. People notice these things really fast.

Now, I’m certainly not going to deny that there was not really much that could be done on my end. I’m going to take credit for a few small things like wvw armor salvage and not counting pve pops in among a few other minor things. (Sure, there’s been complaints about it for years but soon usually equates to “never”) But anyone reading between the lines knew that when I came along, the HoT changes were pretty much set in stone; I’m guessing I’d have to be in place 6-12 months before this to really aggressively shut down what I saw as rather bad ideas that led to the situation in the first place.

I never really aimed to accomplish anything major though. The reason I decided to go with this, because let’s be honest— Who’s the best specialist for WvW thus far? Obviously me, which says little, because I pretty much win by default. No offense to anyone else; I am sure the others put in good work, but without actually speaking with the community you can’t really understand what they’re saying. I took it because nobody else would.

In any case, I know that in terms of material gains, we only got a few things here and there. But that was never my point. I believe in leading by example, and hopefully anyone else that wants to bother taking the mantle will have gotten a few things from me in terms of generating discussion and giving feedback in the future if things get better, or in whatever other game you guys move to that you deem worthy of your support. So to whoever applied for this spot, I hope I’ve laid a better example.

It’s also fairly true that they really more of an active role for the specialist program. You can’t really just leave an echo chamber.

I know some of you aren’t going to care anyways, but thanks to everyone else that supported me. I’m just not the forum specialist you need right now.

/me starts deepening voice
All and all, the people of Gw2 WvW deserved much better.

Although they might be trying to test how intuitive the changes are in regards to inexperienced players, in order to test accessibility. Well, that’s something to think about at least.

Things like the new waypoint rules for “spawn keeps” is not intuitive at all. :/

Indeed. This is a good subject matter for casual players.

Ex: Put casuals there wondering why the hell they can’t use the waypoint —→ ragequit 20 minutes later. Well, maybe your game should explain itself better!

It’s a recurring problem with content across the game in that the game doesn’t really teach you to play it. A good example is the minimap being fairly unhelpful.

I think the problem is that these sentiments are here regardless of whatever is or isn’t happening based on previous action.

It seems clear to me that during testing for recent WvW content that they didn’t seem to take in account actual WvW’ers commentary very well as seen from the complaints from the beta forums mirrors the complaints we have on these forums and of course a giant thread on top already makes this sentiment very clear. Yea, sure, you shouldn’t take the forum community as representative as a whole but trying to claim WvW is fine and dandy sounds really hard to believe. This isn’t to mention the complaints I’ve heard in game from folks; sure they’re anecdotal but honestly I haven’t really heard much in defense of the new content beyond “try it out longer” and “It’s not that bad”. That I think is a problem.

Basically, whatever new WvW overhaul is shrouded in mystery, and at this point on regardless of what anyone imagines, this is a bad spot and how they aren’t reaching out to wide segments of the community is a bit disturbing but not surprising. To be fair, I am aware they have sought out the insight of t1 commanders and those have led to some interesting changes (read: with actual substance) but I think it may not be enough.

And sure, I also understand that releasing info too early may cause panic, but I’m afraid at this stage that should really no longer a concern as there really is little to lose at this point.

All and all, the current direction of actions does not inspire confidence. The fact that they’d rather post on Reddit and also have this cloud of secrecy and vagueness has increased the gap between player and developer. And this is not just a WvW thing; it’s a HoT thing.

Although they might be trying to test how intuitive the changes are in regards to inexperienced players, in order to test accessibility. Well, that’s something to think about at least.

There does seem like a lot of mastery points tied to story and other boring stuff, but fortunately I have autoloot and most fractal mastery so I can just forget about the rest.

It seems like a fast way to get some would be to get some of the racial story ones….

I posted my thoughts on the matter in a recent thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Trading-Proofs-of-Heroics-for-PVE-currency/5980270

They should really consider some of the HoT runes and inscriptions to be achieved in this manner. Although I think there should be more ways in general (pvp tracks, wvw vendor, etc) as I don’t really think it’s okay to have powerful stats and runes while proceeding to shut out non-HoT or anyone else that doesn’t want to pve in HoT. It’s unfair to have power creep and then shut off parts of the general population if you ask me.

Of course, the primary form of acquisition should always be the quickest/best route, but honestly the means of distribution are incredibly narrow atm.

I think the most straightforward way atm is to have the WvW armor vendor sell some new stats and runes , for heroics and badges, or memories of battle or whathaveyou.
