And sure, I’m complaining because siege and food can be easily done by individuals, so yea the complaints are different. I didn’t complain about +5 in the old days, because an individual could provide it, so yea, try again.
Oh, and by the way, even if your assertion is true, I don’t actually take any pride or some kind of superiority in having “worked” for my food and siege. Not to mention, if they did have out of balance food or siege to that degree, I’d complain the same if not more. If there was a new tier of armor that was 50% stronger than the last, or a 100% condition duration food, you’d bet I’d be calling it out for exactly what it is— a pve based crutch.
And let’s be honest and post a general question to those reading. How many random pve’rs that are just here for the daily capture willing to drop superior siege, when the tower rewards less than the siege?
Yeah, I made small havoc guilds for +5 camps and making guild cata with in the old guild system. It was helpful and way more fun than the new system. And actually made you feel like it was important to have guilds. Now, its more like “Oh you don’t really care about me, you just care about guild upgrades and getting people to spend gold and gems to make your guild better” type attitude…
I would too complain especially if they came out with anything that is better than ascended level gear. Worked my tail off and spent large amounts of gold to just get my ascended gear, and if they were to make any new gear that is 2% or higher better than the ascended level gear, I most assuredly would be leaving this game permanent. The one major reason I play this over other games is cause once you gear grind once, you don’t have to do it again unless you just want to. Otherwise, I’d be playing something else instead…
Oh yeah, on a few servers I was on in the past, few commanders ever wanted the followers/pugs to drop siege, it was always the commander’s job. Therefore, even active WvW non-commander players aren’t even likely to drop siege. It is even worst now that things upgrade to fortified really rapidly and anything from reinforced to fortified (gate/wall) takes a long time to break down with anything short of Guild/Superior siege.
P.S. – I miss T3 towers, keeps and SMC having only reinforced gates, but oh, well…
Well, definitely with HoT, it’s been harder for individuals and small/havoc guilds to contribute. This issue goes a bit beyond WvW too.
And yea, I wouldn’t really appreciate having my efforts diminished by yet more pve grinds. Sure, it was sorta amusing planning on what materials I needed, but with 6 other characters still in an exotic/ascended mix, I don’t need to repeat that on the same characters. WvW is for the most part pretty easy to set up. Ascended gear is nice, but not needed. Weapons and trinkets are good enough and somewhat affordable. And food? Well, if you buy the non-80 versions, there’s tons of bargains. Not too hard to have a stockpile of food for months without spending that much.
Finally, as someone that often helps out group of 2s and 3s and sometimes even solo players who are banging their head against a reinforced gate in the southside of the map praying that it’ll go down before that outnumbered buff appears, I really do understand that feeling.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
A lack of rewards, a certain bias towards expensive guild upgrades, and a cumbersome map have really caused a huge hit to the casual appeal for WvW.
But then again, it doesn’t have that much to offer to the hardcore player either beyond being a de factor place for RvR, at the moment.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Because it’s much easier to worry about things you can’t have, then care about things you can get all the time.
They understand this all too well.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Well, there’s definitely a lot of stuff that’s subjective.
For example, if someone asked me if they should save gold for some ascended armor or to get the copper salvage kit, I would actually tell them to aim for the later, because I don’t think ascended armor gives that much of an advantage, but I think the salvage kit would enhance gameplay a lot more by making things faster.
But that’s disputable. I just don’t place a very high value on ascended armor (I actually don’t think it’s worth it), but I do prioritize ascended weapons.
I have crafted ascended armor, but I don’t feel like I’d be missing too much with the exotic counterparts. It’s honestly more for the sake of completeness than necessity, so I see it as a luxury. For an extreme example, look at ascended backpieces.
A lot of this game is just easy enough so that pretty much everything is a luxury, but I certainly don’t mind helping people find better ways to said luxuries or ways to improve their game experience. But honestly, because of this, there are just so many things I’d consider useless that if you blew your money upon it, I can’t really say anything, because you’re probably doing fine anyways. On the other hand, if you always feel like you can’t get what you want, then we should really have a discussion.

10 people owning 50 people zergs because the former pve’d enough for it, well….
Go PvE heroes! They were right. You guys really are into PvE!
Banners are extremely cheap, only about 3.5g per banner, and it lasts until the objective is flipped. Commanders might drop 3.5g worth of siege just to attempt to capture a keep. Do you complain about pvers using superior siege or high quality food too?
I’m sorry, but that’s a ridiculous and disingenuous comparison because you’re ignoring the barrier to entry like the cost it takes to get to the level to require the banners. Any individual can purchase high quality food without any prequisites beyond a few gold at chef, or even just use the TP. Furthermore, the difference between expensive food and relatively cheap food isn’t that big of a difference. There’s no requirement of this sort for making siege either.
Not to mention food and siege can be easily made by actually playing WvW.
And sure, I’m complaining because siege and food can be easily done by individuals, so yea the complaints are different. I didn’t complain about +5 in the old days, because an individual could provide it, so yea, try again.

Until they start balancing skills in context of the many diffrent game modes in this game, any sembalance of competition is an utter joke.

-Obsidian shards from the HoT Mastery vendors. Compared to Balth Temple, they cost +350 karma and 25 map currency. Just silly. Balth may not always be open, but it is often enough and you can buy all the shards you may need at once when it is open.
Come to think about it, there’s a lot of terrible ways to get Shards. :p
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
- Siege blueprints for laurels is definitely atrocious. It’s a relic of its times; same goes for those laurel gathering tools.
- I don’t see how crafting materials are a bad buy, if you get t6s, relative to other choices if you have gear from laurels already. Rings can be gotten from fractals, earrings can be gotten from commendations. The only thing you need are amulets, and how many of those do you really need?
- I think your complaint about superior siege from notaries doesn’t make much sense though. Gifts of Battle only have value if you’re going for a legendary. Forging siege is a terrible way to get value out of spirit shards, because you can only make one at a time, so it’s neither time efficient or cost efficient unless the mystic forger is up.
This doesn’t make any sense. You are saying spending laurels on siege is bad but spending badges on siege is good.
Yea so? How are laurels = badges? I’m not sure why you’re arguing an inconsistency when no consistency was intended in the first place. Why would you even compare the two? Laurels are time gated. Badges are not. Laurels can easily be converted into currency. Badges cannot. Of course, badges are better to spend on siege than not.
Buying siege with laurels is bad because you could buy t6 mats with laurels, sell the t6 mats, and get more siege anyways off the TP then if you bought them with the laurels. Can you even come up with a remotely similar comparison with badges?
Badges aren’t easily replenished anymore and it costs ~150 for many weapons/armour/upgrades.
So? Who cares about a resource that is so limited in use? I wouldn’t even care I had 30,000 badges. Badge gear is just exotic, and that can be gotten on the TP for cheap. It’s not like most stats are even cheaper because badge gear still costs gold. It could be worth it if you go for stuff like zerker. Of course, the badge vendor doesn’t sell the new stats though.
Simply put, you’re overvaluing your badges. They don’t buy anything useful besides siege and (not really) hero points. And maybe that Gift of Battle. But I don’t need that many legendaries…
I’ve already posted why I disagree with your view on badges, especially that part where I brought up that forging superior siege is horrifically inefficient. But that part is conveniently left out.
Unless you are into endgame, you don’t want to be spending them on anything else. And spending 1 laurel on 3 T_ materials is always a good buy for everyone? That really makes no sense. Everyone should save them for buying ascended gear and upgrades. Once you have all you want for gear, then who cares spend laurels on whatever.
No, everyone shouldn’t. That makes 0 sense. What kind of gear do you get from laurels? Jewelry. And everything except amulets doesn’t need laurels. You can’t get ascended weapons and armor from laurels besides the recipes so I have no idea what that’s even about. Ascended jewelry isn’t endgame. That’s laughable. It takes 80 laurels to get amulets and rings ascended. That means a new player that does nothing but log in for 2 months already has them.
If you’re defining someone that hasn’t reached endgame as not having ascended trinkets, I think it’s incredibly irresponsible to suggest that they make such a large expenditure for a new player to get the earrings (80 laurels + 100 ecto and improve stats less than amulets and rings), so I’m honestly not even sure who you are trying to give advice to. Generalizations like these are incredibly harmful. It’d be far more efficient to either work towards ascended weapon crafting or getting a nice set of runes and sigils.
Oh by the way, if we’re somehow not including endgame on this, why did you even bring up gifts of battle?
And yea, I’m discussing these things based on value, not based off an arbitrary cutoff point. Depending on what people do, I disagree if they should focus on gear or not. For example, ascended armor is somewhat questionable. But yes, even people that are fully geared have reason to maximize the value of their resources. I really do think it matters. Not even barring the fancy stuff, food and siege don’t make themselves.

This game is not what is keeping me playing, it’s my guild!
If my guild were to go play another game, I would go with them in less than a heartbeat and never look back at this shambles of a game!
I can sympathize with that.
I also noted a lot of this sentiment as well from my own observations. It seems like more and more folks on our server are pretty much sticking with their own guilds, trying to enjoy whatever wvw the game has left.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Also, in response to having the materials already, that’s not necessarily true that it didn’t cost anything. Even if it dropped for you, you could have just sold it instead of using it to make the armor.
You can’t sell the particular ascended mats needed for viper’s. The cost is either free if you play the content that drops them a lot, or massive time grind if you don’t.
Ok that makes more sense. And now I’m sorta annoyed because I wanted to make some. :p
But what about the damask and stuff? I’m generally referring to that, since that’s a big chunk of the costs.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
It’s still a good idea, if you’re patient enough for ascended items to drop, though
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
A good example of something not worth buying (the materials to craft it) would be ascended viper’s armor. You’re better off doing the mystic forge stat conversion to get it.
That depends on how much of the ascended stuff you’ve accumulated. I had so much I had to start throwing it away, so I made a few viper’s pieces out of it. It cost me zero to craft 3 pieces of armor because I already had the mats.
You can say that about anything though.
I’m also basing my statement about its cost being more from what others have stated. I haven’t ran through the costs personally so someone is free to correct it if it’s wrong.
Then you’d have to rephrase it to “not worth it, if you do have ascended armor that is useless otherwise than to be converted, otherwise it’d be taking the cost of the ascended armor for granted.” Unless it’s actually cheaper to make an ascended armor piece and convert it via a viper insignia. In that case, it’s sort of interesting.
Also, in response to having the materials already, that’s not necessarily true that it didn’t cost anything. Even if it dropped for you, you could have just sold it instead of using it to make the armor.

5 Elder Wood Logs =2s34c using buy orders ea = 11s70s
5 Mitril Ore = 83c using buy order ea = 4s15c
1 Spirit Shard
15s85c
Not gonna even count the cost of the original blueprint…
Superior Flame Ram TP buy order= 14s2c, even buy order is 18s15c. Even if you’re impatient now, you’re spending 2s30c less…. How is this cheaper considering the fact you’re spending a spirit shard which are limited? 2s30c is a pitiful value on a spirit shard when you could literally be like upgrading random mats or making eldritch weapons, and using the profits to buy siege. That might not be as cost effective, but it’s way faster.
You get more value out of Trebs and Catas, but those are also harder to get their regular blueprints. A Superior Cata costs 29s18c in buy orders, which case you get like 14s per spirit shard.
tl;dr Forging Trebs and Catas can be cost effective, but they’re still not time effective. It can be better to get Superior Arrow Carts and Superior Rams through notaries or simply just getting them off the TP.
http://www.gw2shinies.com/alchemy.php And just to show how bad it is; look at all these ways you can get value out of spirit shards. Notice how only Superior Catapult and Superior Golems are even on the list and they are not close to being the best methods.
Converting badges to money is a waste of time, which is why I do superior siege with notaries. But certainly this is its own problem— badges being crap and hard to acquire. This is the same reason I buy paper siege from the badge vendor as well; why would I waste my actual gold, a much more flexible currency? Or my mats which have so much more ways of being used.
- The Extra +5 infusions were never meant to be cost effective.
Finally, there also comes to a point where when you have enough bank, time tends to be more important than value. For example, karma forge salvaging is good value for karma, but it isn’t very time effective. If you’re poor and struggling to get enough gold, then this can be an easy way to gather some gold, but if you don’t need gold atm, there’s really no reason to go after it unless it’s tied to a daily.
- The things that I would personally put in my not worth buying list are boosters because it is unlikely it could ever pay for itself, and Black Lion keys or any of the dye packs simply because RNG. Home Portal Stones go there just because the home instance itself isn’t really convenient. And whatever the heck those 2 week passes are for.
- But ultimately, the only things I consider not worth buying is if there’s a better way to acquire the same thing.

For FT, obviously turn off the auto.
Use FT toolbelt + Ft skill 2, blow it up + orbital strike+ FT 5. If you have time beforehand, fire the ice mortar shot in. Ice fields are awesome, so you don’t even really need to hit with it. The damage lost by not autoattacking is very marginal and really doesn’t matter. If you’re feeling brave enough, go hammer 4 right after this and plow through anyone that looks out of place.
By this time you should be clear (dodge if you’re not) and then switch to something else. Ft 1 should not be used into their frontline for obvious reasons. It is okay to use it against backliners that got cutoff.
I don’t use mortar 1 unless it’s gone pure pirate ship. The kit sucks at damage; more for fields.
I like FT stability, because… well it’s not like there’s anything else. Toss Elixr B is too unreliable to get off in a hitch. Neither is good enough on its own, but with the occasional Guardian handing stability over, I have enough on backup to get through.

Yea Ice Spike hurts, but it’s nowhere near as cheap as CoR. There’s this giant block of ice that forms over your head that’s a pretty big tell. Interrupts will ruin the ele’s day, and you as a necro do not lack those. It also needs to be ground targeted (and this is huge!) so unless the ele has you locked down, it’s not really happening. Plus that ele would not be anywhere near as tough as a Rev. Finally, if our staff ele here is in water, that’s really their only hard hitter until they switch to another attunement. Though I suppose they could chill you and ruin your day.

It’s 1 thing to be underpowered in 1 department, and another to be trash tier in every competitive mode.
Every competitive mode? Guardians are fine if not one of the better WvW classes. PvP is such a joke right now in terms of balance that your definition of “trash tier” currently involves 2/3 of the classes. And although raids/fractals/dungeons aren’t technically “competitive” if we are talking about them: dungeons are irrelevant now and if you can fill a party your lucky; guardians still have a good spot in fractals; and raids are a bad fit for the Guardian.
They said there would be a huge balance patch after their PVP season is over. They most likely won’t be rebuilding classes, but expect some major number tweaking across the board.
Competitive game modes would be raids and sPVP. raids because its a challenging environment where you can’t walk in and simply faceroll like fractals.
No one really cares about wvw right now. The only reason you bring a guard in wvw is because of stability to begin with. That was the case even before HoT.
Just wait till people figure out Dwarf stance revs have as much if not more stability applications, then things will be more interesting.
in Any case, guards need a MAJOR balance pass asap.
Gw2 and competitive, lol. I have to agree with Indure that PvP is simply not even worth taking seriously and maybe even that nobody cares applies to that even more so. But with the speed of balance changes, how can anyone take that seriously?
There’s no point talking about balance or a so called competitive atmosphere when it’s clear the developers don’t even understand the concept. The esports hype is simply nothing but hype and if you want a competitive atmosphere, to probably start looking for another game, because don’t hold your breath. No really, don’t.
What in the last 3 years has Arenanet even done to promote such a thing besides wasting money so we can get a stream with a few hundred views? What have they really done when it comes to player observations who play the game far better than they have to go on anyways? Why does Anet decide that the Guardian should have the mobility of a cripple relative to other classes other than some vague concern of “concept?”. Does that sound like those that actually care about balance? It wasn’t until recently you could even see recent game history, and stats? It took them 3 years just to come up with a ranking system that meant something? And not really because lolabuse.
It hasn’t helped my resentment that this game is revolving around that shoddy balance, and the rest of us get pvp-centric “visual noise” changes to ruin the experience for the rest of us.
The only thing I see is that the Rev and select elite specs seems a bit overtuned, most likely because they want people to buy the expansion
As you said, guardian has been held back by class concept and design for the last 3 years but then they go ahead and throw in the DH to shake things up. BUT they still failed to even adress the core issues from 3 years ago. DH was their 1 chance to correct most class flaws but they ended up introducing new ones like virtues needing a cast time, reducing class survivability etc.
This shows me the devs need to get together 1 day and go over each guardian mechanic from scratch. I am more convinced each day the guard class needs changes in core mechanics rather than number changes. Base HP needs to go up too.
Yea, the problems in core really have to be addressed. As you just mentioned just number changes are insufficient, and that’s been their way of attempting to bring DH to par, but such a thing isn’t going to effect QoL or the fun factor. It’s still the same clunky skills.
My definite fear here has probably been felt and that is they’re focusing on specialization which is probably why I’m hearing that specilizations seem dominant atm, and that’s not a good thing if they continue to ignore core classes.
It’s just not a good foundation to build on, and it’s no irony that the Revenant which was designed with the elites in mind appears to be in a better spot.
As many, many others have stated around these parts, you can’t be in a good spot if everyone keeps power creeping. Guardian mobility, now, relative to other classes was never acceptable to begin with but these chains have just been getting worse.
But that’s why I have a fairly pessimistic notion here. It just goes far beyond a few cooldowns and numbers when it really involves those involved to really let go and not let random restrictions hold out on things more interesting. The scrapper is a good example of this, while still keeping of what makes an engineer.
Also, I find it funny that stuff like vigorous precision gets nerfed to be consistent to other class, but when every other class has an easy mobility trait, that’s suddenly not okay because of “concept”

I do have HoT, but I liked it better when you didn’t need to talk to an NPC to get buffs. I think it’s pretty crappy that non-HoT can’t have them at all.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
I suggest a new upgrade.
“Instant kill all button”. (10 second cooldown). Activating the skill kills all powers and captures all enemy structures.
Guilds can make it by using 30 legenadries. (per use) This is perfectly fine, because it’s still dodgable with the orange mark. So as long as everyone adapts by dodging every 10 seconds, this will be fine. Failing that they can join a guild that can afford it.; This is also very expensive, so that should balance it out. Otherwise, stop being salty that you can’t join a rich guild.
While we’re at it, let’s put a guild upgrade that lets the game mode play itself and disallow non guild associated members from entering WvW.
I’m sorry, but the logic seen thus far to defend this can be used to pretty much justify anything. Which is of course what happens when you try to use a thing to justify itself.
Exactly! You can always justify anything if you want to but that you need to do so at all speak for itself. The arguments used so far to defend this BS are just sad if not surprising.
Yea, it’s sort of a red herring.
For example.
“Why did you take my $5?”
“It’s okay, you can live without $5”
“But you shouldn’t take my money”
“What, are you too lazy to work? You can earn $5 in less than 20 minutes at your average job. Besides, you can deal with it.”
Another example is with heroics
“Heroics aren’t very time efficient!”
“You can farm them in pve!”
This is also disingenuous, because we already know you can farm them in pve. That’s not the point of the argument. If a road is broken, and a detour works, it doesn’t mean that road isn’t broken.
The problem is that we never even agreed with the initial premise in the first place.
It is irrelevant that there are counters to Dragon Banners or they cost a lot. There are many other elements about it that could be distasteful. If one is willing to ignore the context, then logically speaking, anything that is restricted by cost and has any form of counter is acceptable. An argument where everything is permissible isn’t really saying anything at all.
Which is seemingly how it’s going atm…

Bundles are good when they include stuff that I’d want and other stuff I wouldn’t get normally. So I did get the Account Jump Start just because I was going to buy bank/bag slots anyways, and wouldn’t mind screwing around with BL keys, which I’d normally never buy on their own. Another one would be when they packaged all 3 unlimited harvesting tools together.
There haven’t really been any particularly exciting packages though. The recent outfits have not interested me at all, so naturally all that extra stuff doesn’t matter.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
I don’t see this so called barrier to new players. You really only need to tp gear if you want to level faster, and I still see plenty of 35-45 blue armor selling for 3-4 silver…. which is what it’s been for the longest time. Someone low level can just salvage whatever they find and sell the mats, and still have lots of gold and/or mats just by playing the game.
That is, if they haven’t found anything in the last 30 minutes that hasn’t obsoleted whatever they bought on the tp anyways. Or from level up chests. Ever since the NPE there’s generally little excuse to be undergeared, honestly, with the game giving you free gear and daily rewards give you level up tomes. Being below level 80, is basically irrelevant, and I would never even tell people to get the tome choice from a chest of loyalty— there’s no point to rush it. Instead, gathering up a lot of t2-t4 mats while leveling will make for some fine bank once one reaches 80. Although level ~70-79 I would try to skip if possible, since t5’s are in a bad place.

Well, it seems to go off reliably enough for me, and yea it’s the same proc as defy pain, but I imagine warriors are a bit harder to suddenly burst down. If you’re referring to WvW, there just seems to be so much sudden death syndrome and if the fight is big enough, it can literally come out of nowhere.
It’s a very good trait, but there are some times when this trait will actually kill you because unlike defy pain, elixir s locks you out of all your skills and will leave you to die to condis. So this means this trait is often not that helpful against condi enemies. We generally take it due to the lack of a good alternative and the rest of alchemy being strong with hgh making it better (Backpack regen is alright, but sorta meh in this meta).

Hmm, given the high burst damage that is around, is it possible you’re going from >25% to 0? Because the thing requires you to be under 25% health and take a hit. So if you get condition bombed slightly above 25% health, you can actually just die of condis without the trait ever procing as well.

Been running relatively reliably with this:
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQFASlUUh6rYtWwvLQ7FL3FF4CGhBQ4EGQZG9qH7zOA-TFiFABws/AhqHAwFAwIlfnpDoKlgHqiTCPAgAAIA38mBgje0he0hO0G6Qv5yt5QLDQxWA-w
Basically mortar is pretty awful for actually hurting people due to the crappy tracking, but blasting fields, or (leaping) as you will on your own demand is a much better use for it. And obviously don’t overwrite people’s fields. Chill/Frost armor is quite useful if you want to stand a chance but I do find drilling people with hammer 4 is pretty funny. And poison gas shell on the downs. That’s the one case you won’t miss.
You could definitely run stabilization core if you want to be better at ressing/stomping and rapid regen is also nice.
And yea don’t use your orbital strike for pedestrian pirate shipping; only use that crap when you make contact or if you’ve actaully managed to time your mortar field to land alongside the orbital strike, and then smack them with Ft2 and if the close is clear, with hammer skills. It goes without saying that you should probably turn FT’s autoattack off.
As a side note, you can also run rifle too if the hammer isn’t getting much use.

Eh, I wouldn’t consider this PvE BS.
Because I don’t think it’s even suitable even for PvE. It’s a pve reject, which some may consider HoT WvW content to be in a similar category.
Wouldn’t it be totally awesome if guilds could just summon those during raids, and trivializing the content? Or whatever the farm of the day is. That would of course impact the oh-so-important economy and nerf it tomorrow. But this doesn’t happen because at least some degree of thought is given to pve content.
This is nothing but a gold sink. Slaves to the TP.
Also I find it humorous the banners give you a break bar. Hey, look there’s your stability guys. It was taken away and repackaged as new content, hmmph.

There was a sentiment that badges of honor were so worthless and meaningless because they were so plentiful in EOTM as opposed to WvW.
So one would expect this imbalance to be corrected by upping badge gain in WvW and maybe lowering EOTM badge gain.
But of course, they asked “what the hell is WvW, we’re talking about EOTM” here and nerfed EOTM badges to hell while not bothering to increase the pitiful badges in WvW.
So instead of badges being unfairly biased towards EOTM, it is now in fact equal now that nobody gets to have them. Unfortunately, this kind of strategy is prevalent in all game modes. For example, after the gold infusions got nerfed, they found ways to make the other ones equally useless.

So it would seem like if I were to bring my engineer into a raid, a condi build would be needed. But I hear gearing requirements are sorta strict.
I have a rabid set (exotic armor, ascended weapons/trinkets). Would I have to upgrade to viper or whathaveyou these days?

I was in Eternal Battlegrounds during reset time. (4 PM PST).After 11 minutes into reset time I noticed my dailies didn’t reset. They showed as 3/3 0:00:00 time left. This matter was resolved when I left WvW to go back into PvE. Naturally I was annoyed to see I would have done at least 1 daily had they been working properly.
This occurred on Stormbluff Isle, a NA server.

I thought reapers were well liked. What happened?
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Just gotta peel them.
The mobs in the new maps follow you quite a long distance, so take advantage of that. Also you can glide; just jump off a cliff if it proves too much for you.
Most deaths I see come from people (and myself) trying to run past or ignore mobs like in Central Tyria. You still can, but you better time those dodges. Or use stealth and ignore most of the map.

I would consider buying the permanent merchant and TP if they didn’t spawn a NPC that trolls everyone. That’s just too disruptive for my liking.
If possible, the thing should just open the interface without needing a NPC.

I love how there’s no bank and upgrades make the scribing station even further away. Can I contribute from my bank? No, what? Are we back to 2012 where you had to have crafting materials with you?
It’s like whoever designed the place hates players.

I enjoy Bell Choir, but these events really need to be redesigned as it is clear they are outdated and do not fit well in the game right now; one example being parties being unable to join toypaclypse because of changes to the game since, and it’s always the same excuse. Every Year. While the game is still being changed. Meaning it can only get worse. This is basically like when I refuse to clean up my room.
The again, I have no idea why these things are even based on a pvp platform, but what do I know?

Indeed, something is seriously wrong.
I’m afraid it’s user error.
A level 50’ish characater has much more tools at their disposal then a level 13. Use level appropriate gear and consumables. And check out what traits you can use, as well as the various weapons. Or you can complain about it, but that doesn’t do damage.
It isn’t user error. I’m not an idiot.
Not sure where the implication of idiocy came from.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
As I’ve said before, Hero Challenges are not analogous to Notaries. Wxp is account bound, and it makes no sense to fit it in a soulbound system.
You could play 95% of a level on a character, and 5% on another character of which the chest is acquired through rank up, thus defeating the purpose of “playing a character to progress them”
Furthermore, WvW isn’t really the place to walk around willy nilly trying to “progress” a character the same way uplevels don’t have a good time either, though not as severe. But basically, outside of EOTM, progression isn’t exactly a priority in WvW, nor is it really supported much either. This is because World vs World is about a war between people from different servers, as opposed to the cooperative nature of Open World PvE which is meant to grow your character and teach you how the mechanics work.
Frankly, given the random nature of the heroics, I just hope people realize what a low priority people who are aiming for these things care about individual character exploration and progression. When you explore the world in PvE, you’re not just getting hero points in a vacuum. Map compleition is an inevitable effect of doing it, and comes with its own set of rewards per character that go beyond hero points, which is why it makes sense to make map completion per character.
Finally, hero points in PvE become progressively easier to get thanks to the existence of masteries. WvW masteries do not help anywhere near that same extent, excluding the now-defunct guard stacks.
Personally, I am unlocking things at a decent rate, but I think it really wouldn’t hurt to have them account bound— even if they were, running down to VB would still be speedier IMO. Though I do think a part of the issue is the perception that the elite specs are superior to the baseline ones, thanks to the extremely wonky class design atm that makes the issue much worse than it should be and increasing the frustration of any given grind. Essentially, people are pressured to feel that they need certain things or they’ll be a liability to their team, whereas in PvE nobody really cares about that unless it’s a fractal or a raid.

Well, I wasn’t invited and didn’t want to judge, but looking at the feedback forum, it has some similar concerns…. to the ones we have now.

I main a Guardian and mostly WvW, so pretty much all my alts also WvW. However, they sometimes do have specific duties which isn’t a problem since I just can enter the mists and come back out to wherever.
Engineer— When I don’t feel like Guardian. That pretty means most of PvP or instances
Ele— Teq/Cursed Shore Usually placed near a rich platinum in Sparkfly to wait for Teq.
Mesmer— Utility/scout whenever needed, Almost exclusively WvW
Thief— She’s parked at Bloodtide coast to gather for Kryta dailies, and as well as any other fetch quest. Also almost exclusively WvW
Ranger— Cook and whenever I want to solo a low fractal with low effort.
Necro— Guild Missions because she’s the only one with map compleition
Warrior—

Stat availability for trinkets has always been wonky even for standard stats such as valkyrie. It can be safely assumed that it is this way simply because of a lack of care.

But, but I think yawning during the story is a legitimate reaction.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Have you checked to see if the commander has open join selected when this happens?
Yea. First by typing /squadjoin (name) which worked, and then asking them if they had open join selected.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
A few weeks ago, you were able to open up the big map, and click on the tag. That would give you an option to join the squad.
I can’t seem to do that anymore. I can still type /squadjoin name or of course reach them physically and click on them. But that’s a bit more cumbersome when you suck at spelling.
And as a side note, if I right click their name on chat that just shows invite to party which doesn’t work obviously. And while we’re at it, if someone’s in a party, and you try to join on them via chat, it still sometimes just shows “invite to party” which you can’t, and you have to type /join or have them invite you.
So basically
- Why was this functionality removed?
- This is 2015, having to still use text commands to be the most reliable seems to be quite a throwback.

Autoloot from Mastery not working in WvW ?

Please let xp earned in World vs World to count to Tyria mastery and just leave autoloot in the same place. Or allow Wxp to contribute to the mastery.
Don’t give me the “It’s not in Central Tyria” BS.
Fractals of the Mists are definitely not in Tyria either. Imagine if you couldn’t level fractal mastery by doing fractals.
That’s essentially the same thing.
