Sincere question about the new BL

They really need to talk more (with us) and stop sending in changes piecemeal.

One good example is the specialization system which basically saw a few different revisions and that was really jarring. It was supposedly done in preparation of HoT, but it felt more like experimenting on the population.

The ultimate example is probably Living Story Season 1, where ideas were just being churned out at such a rapid rate and not too much of it is quality.

So here we are in WvW. Supposedly there will be a massive revamp and there’s no doubt that the new borderlands are designed to go with that revamp. But now we’re stuck with this “master of none” in between sort of nonsense for god knows how long. How many products can be sent out piecemeal? Here, have our brand new wheel. Oh the rest will come in later!

If this was a 7 course meal, the dishes are coming in random order and the cook is sometimes taking your plate away to finish it again. How could this possibly lead to a satisfying, no even manageable, experience?

I really don’t know what’s going on. Perhaps the bean counters are demanding so-and-so amount of content must be put out before a certain date, and I’m sure everyone been where they know that they could do a better job but the decision makers often think otherwise. We also live in an era where instant gratification takes precedence over quality. In the end though, the results cannot be any good though.

Hah. Let’s rephrase this.

I believe in innocent before being proven guilty. However, I hope most of you would at least agree that they are already guilty on any number of other counts. So my point has always been there’s reason to be angry, but there’s no reason to make up any more. You’ll pop a vessel or something.

And ya, I know this response is deserved although I personally don’t think responding with a lack of effort is justifiable even if they haven’t shown the same regards.

But why do you think I write smarmy and salty posts such as this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Potential-Reason-Player-Adaption-Unsupported/5834594

I’m also aware of the Friday night issue: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/The-State-of-Friday-Night-WvW

I don’t think you’re going to see anything so critical from any other FSP around these parts, and that’s for good reason. But I’m not accusatory at all even if I know whiteknighting makes the game worse, after all.

To Those Who Think They Want A Megaserver

in WvW

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

That’s all well and good for the chosen few that sit in the upper echelons of the leaderboard. What about the rest of us?

What about the people that log in to WvW and are lucky to see five enemies all day?

What about their inability to transfer to a higher pop WvW server? What about what happens to people when their server empties out for the week because of tier population imbalances?

I am not sure what you mean by inability to transfer. There’s only one server that’s impossible to transfer to. You can transfer to a high activity server which is about 160 gold?

Yes, I understand that might mean some EOTM or PvE. And WvW rewards suck. That should change. But that’s not an inability to. It’s still an active choice.

What about the fact that removing servers does not dismantle communities. Communities choosing to dismantle themselves does

If you need the game to tell you who is on your team, then your team isn’t as strong as you thought it was.

There’s official, and there’s unofficial. While it is true a community will outlive a game probably, there’s a difference between one designated from the game, and one that is arbitrarily designed— you can make up anything from the later. It doesn’t necessarily mean the same thing.

This is the equivalent of having a building where a group meets, and removing the building against their will, claiming the building is meaningless. Yea, the group can function without the location. Doesn’t mean it’ll be the same.

WvW might seem fine from the perpective of the top. I used to run on TC, and it looked fine from that vantage point.

However, more than half of all servers don’t have the ability to fight competitive WvW matches, and exhorbitant server transfer fees shouldn’t be a permanent requirement for guilds to reorganize in to and out of larger armies.

It’s easy to forget how horrible WvW is as a game mode when you’re not at the top. This is unlike any other part of the game. Even in complete noob tier pvp you are still getting good matches. Even in completely screwed PvE maps you still have events adjusted to solo.

When there isn’t a population that is roughly equivalent for all teams involved there is no WvW and the current server model does not support, and can not support enough teams to make that happen due to the effect of server stacking and basic human desire to win

That being said, it’s fairly true that the developers have failed half the tiers at least and it’s probably true that we can’t support all the servers that exist currently. I probably do not think advice like “recruit” is going to really help matters when the ability to do so is quite crippled already.

If it followed you too closely, then it’d be really easy to just aoe the gyro and defeating the purpose. The erratic movement is intentional. But that’s no excuse for bad pathing though.

On the other hand, since I assume a good deal of us run mecha legs/streamlined kits, that it is just not fast enough to catch up.

Anyhow, I think it’s a great elite, and does a decent job of keeping me hidden in pve and wvw. However, using it to stealth other people is very unreliable. Especially true in PvE where I’m usually also using Rocket boots to bypass things.

They didn’t care about our efforts with the guildhalls.
So in all respekt it IS time to panik and to yell what we DON’T want. Or maybe we should all tell them how much we are hyped for an allincesystem and how much we would LOVE it, since it looks (at least to me) like Anet does exactly the opposite of what ppl asking for.
Sorry that i can’t find friendlier words, but i’m verry frustrated and now, nearly 2 months after HoT release WvW is even in a worse shape than at the HoT release.

Badge awards need to be increased

in WvW

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

Yeah, the cost for superior siege is pretty crazy. I think they might be hoping to incentivize using guild siege since their master plan is to make WvW more guild focused. Unfortunately, the cost of making guild siege is also a punch in the gut.

What seems really strange, though, is that it costs less badges to buy 2 regular blueprints and make a superior blueprint in the forge…then it also costs proofs of heroics. What, exactly, is the benefit?

Mostly just speed. Converting badges to any other currency is far too tedious and not worth the time.

The TP is quite expensive at 16s a piece and forging siege is just not a fun thing to do. Even having bought a stack of siege guides in advance and having a mystic conduit so I can do it anywhere, it’s still very annoying. Plus Elder Wood is rather pricey now and a lot of it is needed for crafting ascended weapons.

Anyhow, my badges are definitely steadily dropping instead of steadily growing as it did in the past. I have around 4k badges left so it won’t be a problem for a while. Granted I’m near an acihevement chest which will also give more badges— kinda sad if you ask me when an AP chest is a better source. I’m just not earning many badges outside of daily chests, and opening those chests is its own problem because that “wastes” the xp boost. I just opened 3 wvw chests on my ele by accident because I thought they were pve chests, and now I sorta just shelved her away until i can play WvW again. =p

The State of Friday Night WvW

So moving reset to Saturday Night has been a fairly controversial issue. I was wondering, how is the time slot which would have been Friday Night reset compared to before, and how does it compare to Saturday night reset in terms of your own activity as well as the activity you observe on your server?

Personally, my own schedule tends to let me play deeper into Friday night as I would usually be somewhere else late Saturday night, so as a result I end up playing on both nights but not as much as I have in the past. Even if I have a long session, it’d be on Friday anyways.

[Survey] Guild Upgrade Costs

in WvW

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

Hello all,

The point of the thread is to gather up some experiences over the progress of Guild Upgrades, especially in World vs World. So please answer these questions if you will. Please only answer if you are part of a Guild that participates in World vs World.

Personally, I have not been able to really see any of the upgrades to be used extensively, nor do I even understand how any of this works, so I am wondering how it is turning out.

As always with these “serious” threads, please keep the rambling and complaints to a minimum if it’s not directly related to the topic. Keep everything to the point as much as possible.

  • How many people are in your guild, and how many of them participate in World vs World?
  • Do you find any of the Auras from claiming essential?
  • How many World vs World upgrades has your guild earned, what level are they, and how close are they to getting +5 Supply, in particular? Do you feel it is achievable? How much have they spent?
  • How has your guild been obtaining the upgrades? Do you feel that this has taken time away that you would have rather been playing World vs World? Please be specific, such as “I spent 5 hours getting shovels”, etc.
  • How has the new system impacted you and your guild’s playing experience in World vs World? Would you prefer the new system or the pre-HoT system?
  • If you could change one thing about the Guild upgrade system, what would it be?

Potential Reason: Player Adaption Unsupported

in WvW

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

Unsupported? That’s probably too nice of a word.

Consider their attempts to devalue certain content. Dungeons have gone beyond unsupported, by nerfing the rewards which was one of the main incentives, they have practically cut the content off and damaged it to promote something else— in this case fractals and raids. It is not unlike companies slowly cutting off support for aging or unwanted products. This is actually somewhat natural, but on the other hand it doesn’t really make for a good relationship.

Another place we see something devalued is underwater combat. It was just too hard to deal with, so underwater content was removed, and there isn’t any new underwater content. Now, sure it kind of sucked anyways, but besides the point.

So anyone that’s reading this is probably going to know what I’m getting at. Is World vs World also being devalued and being phased out, still being there, but other things are prioritized over it?

Well, it’s probably not as bad off as the aforementioned example but let’s look at some possible factors:

  • Megaservers were a huge blow to WvW communities because it hardly ever mattered for anything non-WvW anymore. No more trips to LA to rally folks. Note that requests to have the cities free from megaservers were not just from World vs World players but also a number of other groups that wanted to maintain communities for whatever reason. They were all promptly ignored.
  • Gamebreaking bugs seem to have very low priority for World vs World. Now, granted, the game has bugs everywhere that haven’t been fixed for ages, but anything for WvW is exponential.
  • Anet still refuses to balance modes separately, with PvP balance being the main thing while there are some adjustments made to PvE (ferocity, for example or new stats from PvE). Anything just for WvW? Nope! Whenever PvE or PvP balance takes a dump, it always lands on World vs World. Even if you like say, the stability changes, do you think it took World vs World into account?
  • Other factors cause World vs World to be effectively the toilet for PvE. For example, ascended gear, elite specializations, guild upgrades, and such were clearly optimized for PvE rates of material acquisition, which of course doesn’t work at all. All of these changes affect WvW. Basically, World vs World is still stuck in 2 years ago for a lot of its system.

To be fair enough, there have been some steps to maintain World vs World….

  • Some new content and changes. In particular, a new map, and some new mechanics. Yea, I know many people don’t like them, but I wanted to be fair.
  • Some alternate methods to gain PvE things in World vs World. The notaries, despite being imperfect, are a good start.
  • Some ways of putting WvW in the economy, such as memories of battle, synthesizers.

Unfortunately, even these good things tend to be affected by the above problems. The Desert maps seem to have taken HoT mindset to building them, but without the things that made the HoT maps interesting to begin with. The things involving material gains are really the only thing that speaks in the current development mindset, and seem to be the most solid, but also displays what I think is a misunderstanding of what progression means. Ultimately, these things don’t do much to really bring in new players that aren’t just passing by to collect what they need and leave.

That being said, it seems there have been some attempts to improve World vs World but they have had limited or even negative effects because of either various misunderstandings or they may have their hands tied. In the end, WvW fills a niche that remains hard to replace despite all of this, and it might have just been too successful for its own good. So, it might have been entirely possible that they never planned for this at all. After all, this was meant to be a bridge to Esports PvP.

It could be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it.

Before HoT, most of these things had a greater level of accessibility. However, due to the amount of people wanting to be special snowflakes, they lobbied for more things that were based around exclusion. Now this wouldn’t have been a bad thing, but this is obviously centered around pve “grinding”, and leaves anything else out of that paradigm that isn’t esports left out in the cold. One of these things is World vs World, and it’s no surprise that HoT hasn’t been kind to it.

HoT has changed gw2 community

People do come to help, but it takes persistence because the content isn’t as easy, the wps are further apart, and they could just be tired. If you meet up with helpful people, ask if you can add them, and also help them out when they have problems. That’s how you get around these things.

But hey, at least people have their reasons usually instead of being counterproductive. I had a case yesterday where back in Tyria I was fighting that nasty elite noble in Cursed Shore guarding a hero point when someone saw that I was fighting it, and ran past us to grab the skill point and left instead of like oh I dunno, pressing 1 or something which would have made it easier for both of us. Fortunately I didn’t die, but what if I did?

Since launch, GW2 prided itself as having one of the best, if not the best community of any MMO and rightly so. Always friendly, helpful and more than willing to assist those in need

Featuring: "
-Full zerk or GTfO!
-LFG: no necros or rangers!
-Link gear on join!
-Know how to stealth skip 90% of the dungeon!
-5k AP or GTfO!
-Nothing but constant complaining on the forum since the release of the game.
-“Play something other than DD ele / Burn GRD skill-less n00b”!

That’s just a vocal minority that can be safely ignored and avoided. My run-ins with these folks outside of forum complaining which also could be avoided has been minimal.

Not joining any specific sounding speedrun has help matters. PvP is a bit worse, but honestly I’ve never seen any PvP atmosphere that didn’t have toxic people.

My point was that it is simply harder to level an arbitrary character, when it comes to WvW and PvE. And regardless of your opinion, there are certain classes that get requested more.

Well, then its sad my opinion is it’s idiocy to discriminate against Rangers if you ever want to have Druids, because you don’t get Druids without Ranger players. And these changes are in the direction of enforcing that.

I think it is too. But then again it’s sort of like the zerker meta thing, where this kind of stuff does happen, and sadly enough there’s actually some reasoning behind it, even if it doesn’t justify being hostile.

And need I not repeat this thing about “not actually playing the character” topic in my first point.

((shrug)) It’s clear the overall model they want to have — access to an elite spec comes from playing that specific character. I’ve got 4 level 80 guards, and as much as I might like having unlocking DH once apply to all of them, PvE or WvW it doesn’t. Neither aspect of play is being put upon more than the other. I think you’ll need a significantly better lever if you aim to move them off of that position.

Now that I really have to agree with. This is why I brought up that confounding a character based progression system is problematic in the context of Wxp levels. Note that WvW ranks were also once soulbound at a time, thus a lot of WvW’ers might have felt we were going in that direction for progression.

Personally, I have unlocked 2 elites, Dragonhunter and Scrapper, with only about 60% and 30% map completion respectively. My necro got most of reaper free due to having done lots of map completion. But I have no issue taking characters down to VB because I like the map. Also, I’d imagine a lot of WvW-only folks don’t have the extra boost of Tyrian map completion which comes naturally from playing most PvE, except if you’re only doing fractals.

And FYI I’m just spending my incoming notaries on siege until I feel like getting something else.

  • Laziness is a red herring because account bound or soulbound does not reduce the total amount of hero points required. If you have 8 characters, you’ll need 2000 hero points total regardless of what you do. Furthermore, due to how WvW works, you can’t just bring any alt onto the battlefield in any given time. It is irresponsible because unlike in open world, you double downing can greatly ruin a fight thanks to the rally mechanic. One good example is someone that wants to bring a druid in a big fight; a lot of commanders aren’t going to really appreciate you running with them as base ranger for long periods of time. If someone had wanted notaries to unlock a HP account wide, now that would be greed.

I’m not really sure how good I’d consider a commander who doesn’t understand the need to invest in his troops. The base Ranger may not be a Druid, but they’re not incapable of healing if that’s what you’re desperate for in your squad and they’re certainly better than telling the player not to play at all while they’re working on their elite spec. It’s not like a raid where every person you bring is a slot that cannot be filled by anyone else.

My point was that it is simply harder to level an arbitrary character, when it comes to WvW and PvE. And regardless of your opinion, there are certain classes that get requested more. It’s much like how people requested zerker in the past with dungeons. It doesn’t matter what other people think or if it’s possible to do it non-zerker, it’s just part of how the game is played and hard to just ignore.

I don’t disagree that WvW is under rewarded, but that doesn’t validate it being uniquely rewarded, allowing characters to jump directly to their elite spec without playing as that character. And unlike hero challenges, the tokens aren’t currently capped, which may put WvW players way, way, WAY out front when a new round of Especs drop. (And if it doesn’t due to some brand new switcheroo screw-over I’ll be right there with you screaming “FOUL!”)

This is an appeal to consequence, especially when Arenanet has been known to take that into consideration. For example, they prevented people from stockpiling wxp and thus people couldn’t get notaries in advance.

And your point is irrelevant, because soulbound or not, there is still not going to be a cap, so they will have to think of a way anyways. It is another red herring.

The amount of total hero points required does not change! And need I not repeat this thing about “not actually playing the character” topic in my first point.

Even in the scenario where an elite spec which for some reason would cost more than the hero points you could possibly gain from map completion (and that would just be silly); it’s very likely such a spec will require points from elsewhere, and it would only make sense to create yet another alternate currency instead of in theory stockpiling an infinite amount of notaries.

Anyhow, I like the rather amusing emphasis on so called WvW players being uniquely rewarded, because the chances of that ever happening is an absolute joke.

Thanks, that’s a definitely a talking point and I should have fitted it under point #3— it’s a key reason why PvE and WvW cannot be compared directly.

If you walk around Verdant Brink, it’s fairly hard not to be rewarded. Pretty much everything you do will contribute to participation and earn you some steel chest of some kind. This includes helping people out with champs that guard hero points… And that gets your masteries done and you can progress. This encourages cooperation. This is simply not the same for World vs World. It’s just extremely rare in PvE that you will come out with nothing or less than you already had, except in the most difficult of content and that’s mostly a player issue. And you really don’t want people to feel they wasted their time.

On the other hand, Wxp generally rewards selfish behavior more, but that’s an entirely different can of worms.

Sure, I understand a lot of people don’t care about the reward system, but often times it’s the thought that counts. And while some of the HoT maps few like a nicely gift wrapped present, WvW’ers get…. Well, I wouldn’t mind a lump of coal at this rate.

also, inb4 someone shouts misogyny, patriarchy or whatever…

What do bikinis have to do with partiarchy? Are bikinis more prevalent in patriarchic cultures, or something?

I think it is the inverse, since more tyrannical places seek to limit choice and protect people from themselves. But basically this is one of those internet triggers that one should not delve too deeply in.

So do I have you folks right on this?

  • Wxp is a account bound system. It makes very little sense to soulbound it, because in theory you could play 90% of a level on characters you need masteries for you wanted to gain mastery for, but as long as you ding your level on a character that doesn’t, you won’t, which defeats the purpose of supposedly playing the character you want to gain masteries first. This already waters down the concept of so called character based progression.
  • As an aside, WvW has some of the worst rewards based system. There may be a perception that it also a rather bad place to gain masteries yet unlike pvp not having the masteries actually matters. Furthermore, it is still faster to go to Vedant brink and just do them there assuming you have some degree of Central Tyria mapped. Key word: opportunity cost and direct comparisons to pve cannot be considered fair.
  • If your rebuttal consists of “go to pve”, then I think that is evidence that the system in World vs World is not very good. Workarounds are generally suggested to get around something that isn’t working properly.

Alright, let’s go over this again.

It is irresponsible because unlike in open world, you double downing can greatly ruin a fight thanks to the rally mechanic. One good example is someone that wants to bring a druid in a big fight; a lot of commanders aren’t going to really appreciate you running with them as base ranger for long periods of time. • If your rebuttal consists of “go to pve”, then I think that is evidence that the system in World vs World is not very good. Workarounds are generally suggested to get around something that isn’t working properly.

Basically, I suppose a lot of these issues won’t be understood, because a lot of people don’t understand the context which is fine, but I think a little more consideration on matters of which you may not fully understand the situation is warranted. Please keep the passive aggressive statements away until you do.

And yes, the thread title isn’t very appropriate. It’s also more of a HoT discussion for obvious reasons.

Why not merge all servers into alliances?

in WvW

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

I think the main problem is that you started with the topic as “why not?” rather than “why?”

As for the server pride thing, I am not sure whether or not people care for it or not, but I think that would require a bit more than just personal opinion and anecdotes.

Personally, I think the game has enough adequate tools for people merge servers on their own especially with so many servers being open; I just don’t think forcing a decision on behalf of people is that great of an idea. And if the lower tiers are as dead as some claim, wouldn’t that really just be a drop in the bucket?

I also don’t see why allowing people in the lowest tiers free or heavily discounted servers wouldn’t achieve a similar effect. In that case, anyone that doesn’t transfer is there by choice. Then again, personally, if I felt like moving myself, I wouldn’t really see that 400 gold as much of a barrier if I really cared.

Forcing changes on people is often a bad thing, even with good intentions. I’m sure someone at Arenanet thought it’d be a good idea to make the desert borderlands and keep it that way, and well….

How come GW2 community is so nice?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

Because gaming is more mainstream these days as opposed to say, 15 years ago, when there seemed to be a disproportionate amount of immature people playing online games that lack the basic concept of acting like a decent human being. And some of those people would have grown up by now. Add in people who are relatively more sane in the mix and it gets better.

Now, obviously some people remain kittens regardless of age and the other standard internet jerk hasn’t gone anywhere, but at least there’s more than just noise at times.

So it may be possible people haven’t gotten nicer, it’s just that nicer people have shown up more relatively speaking. Now, naturally, in more “hardcore” environments, such as PvP, instanced content, or WvW, there’s a higher concentration of the aforementioned annoying people because it attracts them like flies. So it can get just as bad there.

It also may be due to the fact that many forms of trolling have become too cliche to take seriously. Calling someone a kittening n00b at this point is just leaving yourself to be ridiculed in a generally hilarious fashion— it just doesn’t have the same impact it would years ago when people would get offended about a unsubstantiated claim that they lack skills in a video game that somehow reflects in their inadequacy as a human being. Naturally your overly emotional angry rager hasn’t usually collected enough wit or planning to really keep up with the trolling meta either and it often might be because it’s too much work to get a reaction out of people anymore. So you end up with the internet equivalent of a tiny dog barking aggressively at you.

Mentor tag means absolutely nothing these days, because 80 is very easy to get— since all you’d have to do is wait for some level up tomes through login chests, and then you just gain 1 more level.

Also, generalizations aren’t applicable in every situation.. There’s always someone that is out there to cause trouble in any place with lots of people, but I just don’t see it happening that much. Finally, I am not sure who said getting ascended gear was easy, but exotics tend to be close enough and aren’t too hard to acquire. However, considering a lot of this game can be cleared with no specific builds, so that’s what they’re probaly getting at.

Farming Badges of Honor

in WvW

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

Just do some dailies;, rest you’re better off doing something else. You’ll get 40-60 badges a day, and that would only take 2 days. Most dailies can be done by any character that has lots of stealth during a quiet time. Keep capturer is easiest in EOTM. If you have any friends that would help you, it becomes infinitely easier

Dailies also give xp boosters, and activating one just before a keep or Stonemist capture is a good idea. .

Another okay source of badges is from gaining wxp. This usually gets gained by taking structures like towers or camps quickly. In general, slowing down for a sentry is pointless unless you are doing it for a daily. If you have a good sized group (15+) Keeps can be a good idea but that depends on how many defenders you are fighting.

As for the leadership problem, you can try seeing if your server has some kind of voice coms or something to find people.

Failing all that, Badges come from AP chests.

And yes, actually playing WvW doesn’t seem to give you many badges. In the end, though for getting the actual WxP levels, requires you to have a decent sized groups and also for you to move fast. The ultimate result though is that in terms of acquiring what you need, there’s no point in playing for long stretches of time beyond getting dailies and easy caps. Sad, but that’s how it is atm.

A lot of Gw2 group content often comes down to “let someone else do it” and it happens a lot in WvW.

And of course there are the times when people do try to help but cannot handle uncooperative/incompetent/impatient followers, and of course, backseat drivers. Then again, it certainly goes both ways with people losing their temper and abusing pugs.

The squad thing has helped a lot though, as we can have some kind of function after someone tags down though.

But yea, one shouldn’t complain about that kind of stuff if they’re not going to do anything about it— it could be argued that their inaction is already the answer they’re looking for. Why won’t someone lead? Because everyone is thinking the same thing

Honestly, that thread wasn’t maintained or structured very well, so that wasn’t very good.

And as for replies they do, but it’s nothing particularly exciting, mostly acknowledgements of receiving, but due to the sheer scope of things that they’re involved in HoT, I never really expected to see any changes down the line; it just seems slow in general and I didn’t have the FSP until June which by the time beta was coming out and I think by that point a lot of things were too late to go back on. It didn’t really help that I was probably the first actually active one to post around these parts so that’s to be expected.

Though I assume at least something was read— such as the siege master’s guide being able to be purchased as 10 or WvW gear salvage. Fairly noncontroversial issues I guess.

Also, it was my request to pin the borderland thread on top of the forums, because it would be “a highly important thread”. Now, whether or not attention is paid or not, I’m just going to leave to you. None of us here have any control over that.

I don’t have any info but that’s interesting. That thread is totally vanished.

I would speculate the former is more likely to be possible, as these things seem to be kept under wraps. It makes little sense to give up, since well, there’s no cost to keep it as is. I don’t think it’s unfair to place an inquiry on the matter though. Even if we accept the cynical scenario, it would still be more sensible to be pretending to be looking, I would think. A simple yes or no would suffice.

Whatever anyone does, don’t scare them away. =p I do welcome my successor or counterpart to contact me if they should have questions on the matter.

As for what FSPs do, they are mostly like regular users but with some extra tasks: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Guild-Wars-2-Forum-Specialists-Program/first#post4600059

Guild Wars 2 Forum Specialists generally are asked to engage in regular active discussion with the Guild Wars 2 community at large on the official Guild Wars 2 forums. Each Forum Specialist should try to stay objective and impartial in any discussions about the game in order to provide high-quality feedback that represents the views of the overall community, rather than expressing the specialist’s personal opinions. Forum Specialists may make no promises—expressed or implied—about the relaying of information, neither that it will be relayed nor that it has been relayed in the past. Forum Specialists may not divulge information that they may learn about unreleased components of the game, such as upcoming changes or new content.

So basically, they should engage in regular discussion, but because this is a volunteer thing, it’s somewhat restricted by people’s time constraints.

How did you get your ascended gear?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

Let’s see. I have 2 characters in full ascended and most of my 6 other characaters carry 1 or more ascended weapons. Please note that weapons take priority as they help much more than armor pieces do.

I crafted/salvaged most of it, though was fortunate to find a piece here and there to convert. Also, by putting lots of buy orders in advance, usually looking for low prices on materials I know I will need, such as mithril, elder wood, iron, silk, and now thick leather. I play mostly WvW with some Teq and SW sometimes. Sometimes I look for exotics with decent runes with the chance to drop an inscription and use BL kits to get dark matter from them. With some extra time in the new zones but I don’t think that changes matters much. Selling HoT guild related stuff seems pretty profitable though. Silverwastes goes without saying.

But I don’t really rush. I just see if I have a lot of materials and decide whether it would be better to just sell the materials or make something.

How are you calculating this as 1500g though?

Laurel drought

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

Hmm still have 300 laurels. I have 8 characters with ascended accessories, rings, and amulet, except warrior who doesn’t have ascended earrings but I could always get them with commendations. I also regularly spend laurels on WvW infusions. I don’t do fractals very much so the rings were gotten with laurels.

And honestly, with ascended gear being account bound, I don’t see a problem beyond convenience. Sure, I understand weapons and armor could use their own specific runes and sigils, but how much variation do you need to have 9 unique sets of trinkets?

The only real trouble is earrings which are either very expensive or require guild missions.
