Okay, first of all: stop being polemic.
Second, it isn’t “marginally useful”, it is a key element of the game. My inventory is about to burst from exotic and rare items I couldn’t sell all day. If the Gem Store was down, then I would agree on the “marginally useful” claim. But this is indeed majorly annoying. So…
TP has been down for hours (almost all day), so it must be a bigger issue.
I was being slightly serious. It’s annoying but I don’t want to yell at them. So I did the closest thing.
Should salvage those rares though, unless they’re GS’s. Also, do exotics really drop that much?! That’s pretty impressive.
I just hope this doesn’t mess the sell or the buy orders or i lose ALL my gold lul
Now that would make me actually angry.

Your computer is (mostly) fine.
It’s the 4gb of ram that’s holding you back. With Gw2, I use 5-6 gb of ram even with little else in the background. So it’s no surprise the game runs fine until the HoT maps use up your memory.
Assuming you have a 64-bit system (which you really should), all you need to do is spend ~$50 on 8 gb of ram. (unless you have free slots, then it’ll be $~25 for 4 more). Also toss out any dust in the PC itself while you’re at it. Well, do that anyways even if you’re not upgrading.
Barring that, try to close unneeded programs at startup and in the background. This will not solve the problem but it can mitigste it.

Lower settings in general will be better performance yes, but I think if your computer relatively recent (maybe 5 years?) then you will end up turning down settings for little or no benefit. Things like shaders and animation will not gain much fps by turning them down but things look a lot worse if you have them to low. I would. Textures should go as high as possible.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
It’s only natural that crafting doesn’t have any value unless it’s associated with top level gear. Though I suppose it’s an issue when it’s seemingly everywhere.
That being said I think they should take a look at the crafter only exotics.

Some skills have an initial effect while the rest doesn’t really matter, typically movement skills.
An example is the warrior’s flurry. It’s a channeled skill, but the main thing is the first strike immobolizes, so once you get the desired immobilized, you could say, stow your weapon and use another skill for damage.
The most widely used example is the engineer’s acid bomb. This skill leaves a pool of acid that does damage over time and sends you flying backwards. But in a lot of cases, you don’t want to fly backwards, so you swap out of it after you create the acid pool. That cancels the leap and you can continue smacking your foe at close range.
And yea, it’s not too big of a deal either way, but it is good to know.

The only thing that can’t be bought off the tp is the recipe for the insignia but it really doesn’t take many trips to get. Also can be bought for wvw proof of heroics witha mastery but that also takes time.
If you don’t have any viper gear, I would put the armor on hold and go for ls3 where you can get ascended stat selectable trinkets including vipers. Then, work on the weapons.

That would depend on how cheap that is. I can’t really call that value. How does it compare to this for budget?

One caveat is kaby lake requires windows 10. Ssd is sorta whatever but always nice. This will run gw2 easy as long as you turn down the typical fps killers- reflections, character model limit, shadows. Stuff that I would turn down on a better system anyways.
Funny enough Intel has made I3s completely redundant with this new pentium. Most of an i3’s performance and hyperthreading for half the price! Pentiums never had hyperthreading before. It does have much worse integrated graphucs but this is irrelevant since you can use the saved money towards a real card.
Basically there is nothing in between until you see ryzen or I5. Nobody should buy a Pre ryzen AMD chip in 2017

Guardian is generally taken because you are able to set the pace for stability without having to do any guesswork and risking overlapping stabs. And in pug groups, you may not be able to rely on people to give you what you need. And at the same time you also provide the needed support for whatever you will consider your core party, in particular the Reverent that gives you resistance, and your other guardian. Of course, not every squad can be ideal.
It should also be noted that core guardian was also buffed recently. Virtue of Resolve (f2) , when traited with Absolute Resolution removes 3 conditions instantly with a 30 second cooldown (used to be 45). Virtue of Courage (f3) when traited with Indomitable Courage breaks stuns and gives stability was buffed from a 60s cooldown to a kitten These were already crucial parts of zerg fights and hard to duplicate elsewhere.
If you have a core then the choices become much more flexible, but for the most part guardian is the main thing.

That’s actually true, but usually this is for on-demand siege, such as regular trebs and shield generators. They’re very situational items so I don’t like to devote space just for them.

I actually just run flamethrower anyways. Take pinpoint distribution so the burning does a bit more. With applied force, you’ll be getting might/quickness for you to occasionally hit them with your regular weapon every now and then.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Sure, but at the same time said kill(s) would have to occur when you actually need it. (eg. when your stamina isn’t full).
In these critical situations I would argue that I would trust an on-demand sigil such as energy over stamina even if the later gives more over time, because that part of the fight might not even last long enough especially if you’re going to die. If you need to regroup, it’s rather hard to keep the damage flowing.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Like most snowball sigils that don’t give lingering bonuses, they tend to make easier fights easier.
It’s naturally better against weaker groups who are more likely to lose people; however against weaker groups, you might as well just get a damage sigil such as fire to kill/loot them faster.
In a situation where you actually have to survive, I would suggest something more on demand. There are of course, certain builds that take advantage of a stamina sigil better such as the aforementioned daredevil.

Nah, this is more like people wanting gold plated cars, and saying that the government should subsidize them for making their own gold plated cars, when regular cars are still available. Also, there are some gold plated cars for sale which cost less than the cost of making it, but that’s not okay either. They want precisely that one over there with the extra chrome. Then they also go off on how this prevents new car owners from getting a car at all because they might meet people that will kick them out of the house if the car contains 5% less gold than what they find acceptable, and thus they should lower the price of gold.
Now, the government might have artificially manipulated the supply of gold, but then the scope of the problem changes….

I will write with the assumption that you are not getting an optimal party; commanders that don’t know you are most likely going to put you in a bad party. That’s just how things are atm.
It’s best if you run with the melee. As they constantly move, being behind them trying to heal is the worst spot because you will stick out like a sore thumb and then you die if you haven’t died to all those aoes.
Gw2 is an odd game where since AOE can only hit 5 targets at the same time, and most boons/cleanses have small ranges that it can be counterproductive that the safest spot is often one that really is the eye of the storm. I mean, yes you will get a smaller portion due to not being in the best parties, but then again that’s why you stack up on survival. That being said, red circles are always a bad thing.
Personally, I would ditch the gylphs and slot Protect Me/Signet of the Wild. This will give you adequate defense against CC, as well as protect me breaking other people out of stuns. I also would prefer GS simply for the leap. Finally, Nature Magic especially with Allies Aid seems like a better idea than skirmishing even with spotter, but I digress.
Anyhow, as the enemy makes contact, cast rampage as one (cast it a little earlier than you think because it has a cast time). Fire off Celestial Avatar. Ideally you’ll want to wait until you have some condis on you so you’ll clear them off. This is a good time to heal your folks as they try to regroup for the next pass.
Now a few things will happen.
If you make a successful push deep into them, and you have a clear shot, then run into their clump and press 5. (Do not do this if there’s a lot of red circles.) You will CC their people out of position and make theme easier to kill. Do not get kitteny and think you can stomp that random downed thief on the edge. If the train moves, so do you.
If you don’t, and are trying to sustain, then spamming heals is fine (3 and 1). When you’re done start hitting them with your best weapon. This will generally be whatever CC skills you have available.
If you failed or got jumped first, do not just heal spam. You will not outheal the wrath of a zerg especially with epidemics. This is actually your chance to be useful. Finish the channel on Rejuvinating tides as possible, get 1 lunar impact down, and head towards allies that are dying. Leave Celestial avatar. This gives you and people around you superspeed and stealth. Stealth even for a little is great because it breaks target if someone is being focused. Your goal is to survive and get out of enemy train’s path at all costs. Your average enemy train is highly inflexible and moves in a rigid direction. Mapping a key to “look back” helps. Once you’ve managed to get out of the way, try and see if there’s any easy allied targets to res.
At this point, in any case, once there’s distance between your respective groups, take out your staff and play defensively while you build up more astral force.
I also suggest immediately swapping your pet upon making enemy contact. The pet will obviously not last long in any fight but at least you’ll be able to get some utility out of it and not be stuck to 48 second cooldowns.
Finally, at this is the key to Zerg survival on any class in WvW, you must pay attention to how the enemy sets up their burst. It may take a few passes (and maybe a death or two if you’re unlucky), but over time you’ll notice what happens right before they set up their big condi bomb, and this is your signal to dodge, not when it hits as you’ll be dead. Unfortunately, there’s really no way to actually explain this as every group is different. In any case, until that moment comes, save something that will get you out of trouble.
As a note, my experience is colored by the fact that I usually play more damage/healer variants though the idea is really the same, just squishier, hits harder, and not as much green numbers. Now, i’m not a veteran ranger, so I’m sure people have better tactics but this works satisfactorily enough.

ArchonWing.9480Actually the replacement would lead to the logic that if Artistole promised me a soda and didn’t deliver, then he is also lying about the Earth being round.
Yes, indeed. IF Aristotel promised you a soda, and didn’t deliver, he is indeed a liar. But do you want to tell us that indeed Aristotel, the greek philosopher/physicist/writer, dead over 2 000 years ago promised you a soda?
The question’s obviously rhetorical, that’s why there’s a theoretical if. If you can’t handle the theoretical idea of one of us coeexisting 2000 years ago, then replace him with John being a modern astronomer. I really don’t think Aristotle actually owns the idea anyway which means it’s kind of a moot point….

I really don’t get what some people are arguing here. That it’s OK for hardened leather which is a Common crafting material to cost 1g+ a piece. That’s far, far more expensive than any other T6 Common materials. So much more expensive than Fine materials (Powerful Blood or Ectos, for example). So much cheaper than most of the Rare or Exotic materials.
Sure, why not? Why should things cost the same just because they’re in the same tier?
Crystal lodestones and Charged lodestones are t6, but one is worth a lot more. Putrid Essence is a “rare” material but it doesn’t cost much at all. The game’s designation of them, and how they are valued are two separate issues.Who said they should cost the same? They should be in the same rough ballpark though especially when you’re talking about a basic common material that is needed in great numbers for crafting any armour versus rare components that are only needed in small numbers to craft some terrible things.
I’m not going to get dragged into semantics…
You sorta did…. Prices similar, same is a hair’s breath of difference. If something costs 4.0 silver and another costs 4.01 silver, they’re obviously not the “same” but pointing that out is splitting hairs. And of course, labeling it as basic crafting materials is a matter of semantics too. (Ignoring that it’s the highest tier). My point is the designation isn’t that important.
Obviously if prices are [i]similar]/i], my point stays the same. Why should they stay similar?
Anyhow, you can just repeat that same argument, but it’s pointless if people won’t accept this premise.
If I wanted to be pedantic, I would also argue that there’s not even any reason that suggests that options in this game should be equal, either. Some choices are going to be better than others. 42000 karma for most exotic stats available is actually a severe loss considering what karma can be converted for. Should we reduce it to 15k? And even considering all that, crafting does something other methods cannot do. It levels the crafting profession as a route to ascended armor. There are more efficient methods, but it doesn’t change the fact that there are benefits beyond acquiring armor that aren’t found elsewhere.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Starting out I would suggest Soldiers Armor + Amulet + Marauder rest. If you can’t get marauder trinkets (can be gotten from map currency in LS3, you can always take the berserker+valk combo https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_trinket#Trinkets_with_predefined_prefixes
It’s unfortunately very costly to craft armor, and crafting the exotic versions of wanderer/marauder isn’t worth it though ascended will be worth it in the long run.
Still though, soldiers is a good way to start out. It’ll make sure you’ll have a decent health pool and the marauders part will make sure you don’t wet noodle it.
For weapons I usually like Greatsword because the leap comes in handy

But I suppose there could be a point. Maybe all t6 materials should be really expensive instead. That would be balanced. Should cut the gossamer sources.
I mean, do we really want to make this literal. Sure it’s a basic material. But it’s being made for an exotic armor, which is something that’s fairly high end considering we have whites, greens, yellows. Now obviously the distinction that exotics are now considered basic gear is another story so perhaps this is a bad line to tread.

ArchonWing.9480Apparently failed promises = lies.
1. John told me he’d buy me a soda.
2. John didn’t buy me a soda.
3. John said the world is round.
4. John is a liar because he didn’t buy me a soda.
5. Liars cannot be trusted.
6. Therefore, he is cannot be trusted when he says the world is round.
7. Therefore, the world is not round.Well, this “logical deduction” has only a single wrong affirmation – and using this you send all the conclusion on a wrong direction. The wrong affirmation is: “John said the world is round.”
John is free to say everything. But the round planet thing affirmation belongs to Aristotel. This affirmation was confirmed and is generally accepted. Copernic and Galileo Galilei were the scientists bringing back the affirmation with the round world.
Now, in the third affirmation of your logical deduction replace John with Aristotel. And see what sense the conclusion “Therefore, he (Aristotel) cannot be trusted when he says the world is round” has.
OMG – the world is not round only because John didn’t buy you a soda?
Actually the replacement would lead to the logic that if Artistole promised me a soda and didn’t deliver, then he is also lying about the Earth being round. Point is you can’t discredit someone for something they did elsewhere. All this other stuff about scientists just shows there’s too much focus on the person making the statement.
Simply because Anet has failed to deliver legendary (at this point) and has made changes towards alacrity in no way proves that they’re lying about the state of the economy.
You’re confounding a deliberate change to the game (and yes, the game has changed over the years) with a statement about the present state of the game. If they had claimed that Chronos only had alacrity and it turns out they already put alacrity on another class on release in an undocumented fashion, then that would be lies. Going out a year later and decided to change it, is not actually a lie. By that logic anything that has been changed since the beginning of the game makes them liars.
And that is quite the serious accusation. Are you going to really make the claim that because they decided to change the paradigm for Chronos, and had a failed schedule for legendaries that they would be intentionally defrauding their customers in a virtual game economy that involves real money? Not exactly the most casual thing to toss around.

It’s not healthy for the discussion to be deliberately obtuse. -_-
Insignias are a part of the armor-crafting process to get to 500, making Ascended gear available. Even for crafting Ascended gear, the Ascended insignia requires the Exotic one. Even getting a loot box from a fractal, conversion through the Forge requires an exotic insignia.
Kuu’s statement happens to drive home the point that the leather component is entirely too costly and affects the entire playerbase.
Too costly for whom?
Almost everyone, barring the top few percenters.
Every couple of months I sell 100-150g worth of leather I get from playing wvw to players with no patience. I have 5 characters in full ascended and have max all crafting, some even duplicates. I’m really not sure why leather is so expensive but it’s kind of nice for me to make some easy gold.
This is one the issues i have with this argument of leather prices. I’m not singling Justine out, as many many more folks have this opinion, myself included. But GW2 has been out for awhile, and many vets have their characters already geared out (with medium chars geared out during the leather-cheap days).
So in the current environment, these players, myself included, can make tons of money selling everything to the less fortunate players that are struggling to gear out their toons.
So while the vets see this as a cash cow, new players, or players still trying to gear are feeling the pain. And if you are still trying to gear out characters nowadays, chances are you don’t have the funds like these vets do. So its a case of the rich preying on the poor. They vets/rich don’t want the leather cheap as it would kill their cash cow.
They need to stabilize the prices to fall within line with the other tier mats like cloth. There is a post on here that details the cost difference between the tiered cloth/leather/metal users, and leather was like 3x as more expensive if memory serves (i can find that post later if needed)..
Not this guilt trip again.
This assumes that every new player out there starts demanding viper gear and vanilla stats are inherently unplayable.
So as for being a new player, did you not notice most runes have dropped in price? I remember having a 30 gold upfront cost just in runes.
Then again, if leather was so unfarmable, then it isn’t really a cash cow especially with people finding better farms anyways.. ..

But is the “leather farm” really a good source of hard leather? If we’re talking exotic insignias, that’s really all that matters.

I don’t hoard them because I don’t intend to make legendaries.
Let’s say right now I buy 1000 mystic coins, and save up all the ones I get. 20 a month for 2 years for 480. In that time, mystic coins are 3g each. That’s a massive profit of 2774 gold over 2 years after TP taxes!
Sounds like a great idea over what might happen. Except it’s really not. It’s 2774 gold over 2 years which amounts to 4 gold a day. Hell, you might not even be sure I’ll still be playing.
Of course, if you think it’ll go even higher, then you’re free to buy a few thousand now.
I suppose thats probably a healthy aproach. Don’t care about legendaries, they are locked behind a lot of mindless work. It’s probably why I would never want to buy some expensive racecar. Its impractical, doesnt provide anything useful and is just flashy. Its a waste of time and money.
I guess realising that this hasn’t really changed in almost 5 years, even with legendary journeys being added, makes alot of difference in how you see mystic coin prices.
If it’s completely obnoxious to get mystic coins in your opinion, then drop the goal tied to it and sell or slowly hoard and forget about them until that one day…. if youre still playing then anyway.
Yea, you summarized what I feel for the most part.
Personally, there’s just too much stuff involving it that I really would rather not deal with, and of course by relation many parts I don’t agree with at all. I think if I were to get a legendary of any kind, it’d be bought and that effectively confines me to the Gen 1 ones.
I mean mystic coins, t6 mats, precursors can be bought. I can get gold any way I want. Even tokens have an alternate way now. But a mastery point isn’t something I can ever buy (well, except the gold sink ones). Map exploration can’t be bought and ironically that HoT map explorations is one of the actual fun things to do.
So yea, I do feel if more people were like me and just refused to participate in this, then things will change. But not everyone should agree with that I understand.

On a ele, you can use mist form, but it doesn’t last long enough to get you through the whole channel. So ,you have to begin the channel in between pulses, and then hit mist form. Then you pray it lasts long enough. Maybe engineers can do it with Elixir S; never tried. Basically, it’s close to impossible for a select class and literally impossible for everyone else.
I’d also like to take the opportunity to rant about a similar thing involving the Balthazar point in Auric Basin. Previously I recall you could stealth in and channel the hero point. Recently I noticed they added a patch of fire that makes it impossible for you to do that without killing the champion.
Fortunately Cursed Shore is a pretty active map. Except you notice when it’s not, very badly.

Haven’t really bothered to record the fps with afterburner in those but usually 30-40 fps when I check. But I’ll try to find a random sample:

It doesn’t bother me, but of course this varies from person to person.
Honestly, it’s really not a big difference in performance between zergs and that EOTM video I posted above. Typically 75% CPU usage, inconsequential video card usage, and about 6 gb of ram used.

Didn’t include equipment/runes, just anything with power will do.
3rd utility slot is variable, so take whatever you like. If you have trouble breaking bars, I would go for thumper turret. Elixir Gun is also a good choice but is a bit harder to use.
For the most part, the gyros will take care of the defense for you. Use stealth gyro to bypass unwanted areas or to grab nodes/hero points.

For DH, you don’t have to pick between scepter and LB; just use them both. scepter+focus + longbow.

(equipment is w/e; I didn’t bother including it,) I use this for pretty much all open world/story content though I use Greatsword in place of either set if I want to race past a map. I usually don’t do dungeons/raids/fractals and don’t really care about dps races.
If it doesn’t work:
Take “indomitable courage” trait in virtues
Take Shelter over the heal trap.
In the last fight specifically, you can take “Bane Signet” or “Signet of Judgement” over test of faith. As always, I recommend this cheap and effective food: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Scoop_of_Mintberry_Swirl_Ice_Cream
Haven’t really tried it on ranger, but I can’t imagine it being too bad; I can always go for a run though,
And I will admit: Some parts are looongggg which is pain for those on bad connection.
Thanks for the advice. It had helped when I beat Cadeceus yesterday.
Ironically (or not?), I died more on the way to the boss and during the first fight with him than in the last battle (where I was “only” downed a few times). I’m not really surprised, though, as the Jade Armor + Bow are a MAJOR pita. Strangely, I don’t remember them being that difficult on the Ring of Fire island, or I mistook it during the time on my Reaper on Ring of Fire island.
Actually I found the Jade armors more frustrating to fight than the actual bosses, so that doesn’t surprise me.
I had to get thumper turret on my scrapper to break bars more effectively.
But good to see you did well, so it may prove I’m not just blowing hot air. Usually.

~Elementalists are going heal bot because of the stats like minstrel and nomads allowing them to tank so much why constantly healing with their auras. This is really the most boring and pathetic way to play Elementalists. Elementalists are meant for so much more than just be heal bot.
And yet throughout the entire lifetime of GW2 people have always been like “no trinity, why cant I play healer in GW2 this game suuuuuuuuuuuck!”…
Well, people don’t actually know what they want. No surprise.

You know, one thing that’s always cracked me up in games is how everything is suicidal to the point where they just want you dead. Evil minions make sense, but wild animals you accidentally tap would make a little less.
What would you think if there were more enemies that would be much more shyer to fight and try to disengage if they’re going to die? Would that just be more annoying to chase enemies down?
As another silly thought, why can’t you drive enemies off cliffs?

Thank you for proving my point. There is no viable option to just gather your own coins. They all fall back towards buying coins in the end. Just because it might be “easy” to earn that gold doesn’t change the fact that it just is not viable to gather the coins yourself. So people need to stop spreading that around as if it is true.
But it is true. You can get 250 in 5 months without buying it off the TP. That’s a fact.
What’s not a fact is that it’s “not viable”. You think that waiting 10 months for 2 legendaries isn’t viable. That’s purely an opinion.
I also find it pretty humorous that you’re trying to claim the price is not related to this topic. So if the situation were the same, but coins were at 10c, this would still be an issue?
I’ve answered that question before, but it was buried in another thread so I’m not surprised if you didn’t see my answer. But yes, I would still be upset if the coins were even 1 copper each on the TP.
And I’d be upset because I completely disagree with the rate of acquisition of coins versus how many are required for the new legendary weapons. I genuinely don’t mind gen1 legendaries, because there are ways available to farm clovers if you want to (and because you can get clovers from the daily login reward at the end of the track if you want to). Its not quick, its not efficient, but at least it exists.
But gen2 legendaries require a stack of coins. And the only way to acquire them outside of buying them is to wait at least 5 months, but usually quite a bit longer since in my experience its really difficult to find a group that can complete the ley line anomaly any more. Which means that the only two options are to buy them or to literally sit on your ass and wait. Logging in for 1 minutes each day to collect the daily login rewards. There is no way to earn your coins. Absolutely no way to do so. There is no reward track you can complete to get mystic coins. There is no option to get ~20 mystic coins instead of clovers at the end of the daily login reward cycle. There is nothing. The only ways to acquire them are RNG or hope you get a group that can complete the ley line anomaly, but that is even time gated to 1 coin a day.
There is nothing you can do to get around this fact, nothing. It doesn’t have to be efficient, it doesn’t have to be fast, but we do need a way to acquire mystic coins that is not time gated nor reliant on RNG. So yes, I would still have a problem if MC were only 1 copper on the trading post, because there is no alternative to buying them. Waiting on your ass is not an alternative. What is legendary about just waiting for months on end for MC to pile up? Absolutely nothing. All I want is a way to go out and earn MC. Even something as simple as having reward tracks give out a handful of MC on par with how many clovers they give (as an either or option, you’d choose either clovers or coins) would be enough for me.
At the very least, I want to see the loyalty chest updated to include a choice for 20 MC. This is fewer MC than what you need to create the 7 clovers you can already choose, which also come with other kitten, so it would be balanced against the already existing prices. Would this solve the problem? No, because we would still lack a way to go out and earn your own MC that wasn’t reliant on RNG or having a massive zerg that can complete ley line anomaly. But it would at least be something. And its in line with current rewards to boot.
And what’s so legendary about doing anything in 2-3 months?
If you have the output to produce a legendary sans mystic coins in that time, then I think that’s already an exceptional accomplishment and honestly the idea that you have to get them yourself seems pretty arbitrary. I don’t think that could be considered sitting on one’s ass at all. You’re basically placing an arbitrary restriction that every single coin has to be self farmed, instead of maybe buying some and waiting for others. That’s what you call a false dilemma.
On the other hand at least it is good that you don’t care about the prices. It does seem like there’s more than one argument in the matter.
I mean it’s fine that you have this style of play, but the game doesn’t happen in a vacuum. And I don’t have anything against picking 20 coins over 20 laurels as an option either.

Unless you enjoy the story, I wouldn’t really recommend it. I make an exception for the first bl key as it is easy to get.
Of course, if you want to try out alternate paths, that may be something to pursue.
Also, the story is a pretty big chunk of XP when you’re leveling. This is devalued heavily by scrolls and tomes being tossed at you these days, but it’s still a reason.
For Living Story, there are achievements.

They have been around since forever. I remember blowing my bank on getting https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Vision_of_the_Mists back when 250 ectos seemed like a ridiculous amount, and Orichalcum Ore was the most precious thing in the world due to its role in various crafts.
Speaking of the eldritch scroll weapons, back when sigils of energy were expensive, I would make https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Courage instead and salvage. The result was me saving a few gold.
Oh the crazy stuff people had to do back then….

You can always place an order for them at 50s. If someone agrees that it’s a good idea, they’ll sell it to you.
Failing that, consult guildies, friends, and other trustworthy individuals that think similarly so you can trade internally. A pool of 10-20 people is more than enough to generate the coins needed.
You’d have to wait for the tens of thousands of buy orders with higher prices than 50 silver to be filled before someone would fill yours. So this doesn’t actually work
Oh, so you mean these tens of thousands of people think a higher price than that is reasonable?
Just because you have a buy order out does not mean you think the price is reasonable. If you need coins you need coins, and since its just not practical to gather them yourself, that means resorting to buying them. And if you have to resort to buying them, you have to put up a buy order that actually has a chance at being filled.
That need is purely subjective.
It is not about needing coins. It is about needing coins now. The game gives you coins for free. You can also get 1 a day and from the occasional daily. You can also get mystic clovers from the track.
The problem actually fixes itself
No, it doesn’t. You people really need to start letting go of this notion that you can gather the coins you need yourself if you are just patient. If you want just 2 HoT legendary weapons, that requires a bare minimum of 500 Mystic Coins. With 20 guaranteed each month, assume (lets be extremely generous here) 5 MF dailies each month, that’s 25 guaranteed MC each month. At 500 needed as a bare minimum, this is almost 2 years worth of waiting to gather the coins yourself. That’t not acceptable to wait for 2 skins. It just isn’t.
lets say 6 months is a reasonable time to get a legendary from scratch, so in that time you gained 150 coins simple from playing, so basically you need to earn a paltry 2 gold a day to buy those coins which takes minutes to earn. the issue is the modern ‘i want it now’ culture.
Thank you for proving my point. There is no viable option to just gather your own coins. They all fall back towards buying coins in the end. Just because it might be “easy” to earn that gold doesn’t change the fact that it just is not viable to gather the coins yourself. So people need to stop spreading that around as if it is true.

Diamond skin is already a very solid trait if you keep your heals up. The only time I die to condis is when I am locked out of water, and that’s more of a l2p issue. Buffing Diamond Skin will do nothing but further pigeonhole eles and tempests into the same exact traits.
What eles need are better active cleanses. I think the greatest debacle is aura share (the reason why they get taken into groups) and cleansing water are mutually exclusive. In any case, that means the average auramancer has pretty bad ways of dealing with condi burst beyond overload water despite taking 3 trees that are meant for survival.
